Well, it's the Republic turned Empire. The coalition we had slowly turned into a more powerful force and finally attacked us. In the normal storyline we win, but in this one, we lost and the Republic turned into an evil empire. they rule by fear and stuff.

Well, the milky way is the most saturated galaxy, while there are forty others that are under strict Empire control. Another fifty or so are being explored and colonised.

In the alternate timeline? Hladgos sided with the Republic, and is a major power in it. In the normal timeline, we hold our own, but just barely.
