You vs Nation

Postby Khelshar » Sun Mar 18, 2012 1:23 am

I've heard that there are some fascist nations in NationStates that is made by people that is NOT fascist. And i guess many nations do not reflect your personal opnion. So do you do that?
Me, i've had my ups and downs. In-game, i'm very liberal and so is the nation. In R-L, i've more on the left. But i'l always so no to privatization(both R-P and R-L). So i am not so sure about me.

Radiatia is pretty far removed from my own views.

It was a Right-Wing Utopia (I think it's gone to Moralistic Democracy now) whereas in real life I'm very much a Centrist, and am neither left nor right wing.

As of the present the Kingdom aligns well with my personal views: keeping a healthy balance in economical, civil and political rights, being focused on peace and order and education, and being unmilitarized.

My nation was founded as following my RL beliefs to the letter.

I RP that a increasingly deranged (as in medically insane, not "hoo hoo look how cool my leader is he's a sadist!") dictator has come into power; the fact that he's mentally unstable is covered in many nets of secrets that he has murdered fairly high-ranking members of the government for getting too close to unearthing. He believes he can get better on his own without letting anyone know; he's mistaken.

This, combined with the international community's constant warring on the Federation has created a version of my ideal nation that has now been geared for quasi-permanent warfare, with sight of the nation's original goals being gradually forgotten.

However, survival must be achieved before advancement- so technically, the Federation is precisely fitting to my RL beliefs.

My nation is just an experiment, which goes from being ruled with an iron fist to almost completely free, the only similarity in beliefs is that it picks and chooses from both sides which in my own case depends on personal views.

I'm one of those Fascist nations you mentioned; in real life, I'm more of a traditionalist conservative, although Old Tyrannia does reflect my monarchist and economically centrist positions. I was quite interested in Fascist ideology when I first joined NationStates, being young and only just beginning to consider what my own political beliefs were; and since then I've become quite well acquainted with NS' Fascist community, and as such, although I've been moving Old Tyrannia in a more conservative and monarchist direction to reflect my own politics, I've kept it a Fascist state. There are plenty of RL Fascists around, of course, and I must concede that I find them more amiable company than many Communist and democratic countries' players.

On the one hand, some aspects of Dyste I fully support; gender equality, lots of civil rights, the heads of the country truly caring about its people...

On the other hand, I don't support the idea of an absolute monarchy in real life, the nation's adversity to technology I find wrong, and their somewhat xenophobic attitude I don't agree with at all.

My nation does reflect my views on the whole, but a lot of the time I find myself being more liberal than I would otherwise (either economically or civilly) so I can achieve a certain goal; either better economy, higher rights etc. These are quite common, but nevertheless on the whole I try to do things as I would if I were a leader.

It is a world leader in several areas (education, social mobility, HDI, GDP, lack of corruption, public services, technology, secularism etc.) and maintains an excellently equipped and trained military. Regularly topping lists of most desirable locations to live in, its freedoms and economic success are largely unparalleled. Internationally, its foreign policy holds substantial sway. Povos do Mar is an imperfect actualisation of many of my real life politics. I like the ideas of cause and effect and when I develop my nation I often think of where it has come from and how that could influence my ideas, it doesn't necessarily influence them in a positive manner. Povos do Mar is a nation with a lot of problems. :)

Helcasia represents a twisted, corrupted version of my actual views.

(And as Helcasia is a Mirror Universe reflection* of Conscentia, Conscentia is the true representation of my views...however, I gave up updating Conscentia and so Conscentia has become detached. Helcasia, although a mirror universe reflection, is not obsolete and detached.)

*I typed Mirror Universe reflection rather than opposite as Mirror Universe reflections are not exact opposites of the reality they reflect, and Helcasia is not the exact opposite of Conscentia.
A mirror does not show you the opposite of what is reflected. Example: Red does not become blue in a reflection, however text is reversed.

CL's pretty much the same as my views.

(Midlothian, on the other hand, allows me to go nuts - do you really think I would pass a law which has the effect of "hairdressers are among those who have disappeared overnight", seeing as that's my job?)
Please note: Central Lothian is the direct successor to Mid Lothian*. As a result, I am still called Rebecca, I am still a Grammar Nazi and most information pertaining to ML also applies to CL (although I will be taking this time to change a few things).

* - And I may refer to the country as Mid Lothian. If I do, assume that I mean Central Lothian. (And not to be confused with "Midlothian" - I'm using that as a fascist version of CL.)

AU912 was the first nation I created here to "test drive" the game. I ended up making AU912 about twice as libertarian as I am, and cyberpunk. But other than that it pretty much represents my views.

My other surviving nation, New Chelel, is an oddball monarchy where the royals have absolute authority, but really don't care about ruling the country, so they pretty much let the local authorities do whatever they want as long as they support the royals, even fight amung themselves. I based it pretty much entirely on this webcomic. I would not want to live in such a society.
