History

1437: Independence
The papers of how the nation became independent were lost, but papers on when the nation became still exist. Latin was originally spoken in the area, and the original name of it was Gratusterra. The nation had a system similar to the roman empire. Democracy was introduced in 1922.
1961: Coup d'état and Garry as the ruler
In 1961, a man known as Garry (his real name is unknown, as it has been hidden from the public since) leads a Coup d'état against the government. Garry holds complete power, all democracy is removed, and the nation is renamed to "Garrystan".
1964: Rebels revolt
Citizens begin to kill government officials and police. 300,000 lives are lost, and the fight continues until 1968 when Garry bombs to southern part of the country with nuclear bombs. Garry's rule continues.
2003: Rebels revolt again
The citizens begin to fight in a similar fashion like before. The fight continues until 2006, when Garry bombs the northern part of the country.

Economy

The country's economy has been completely devastated since 1961, as a result of the war.

Gross domestic product: $102.736 million
GDP per capita: $92
Population below poverty line: 98%
Unemployment rate: 79%
Income tax rate: 11%
Inflation rate: 52%

Most Garrystanians can't afford a house, so the average citizen moves into houses without paying for them (and they move out again as soon as police forces patrol the area).

There is, however, a small amount of rich people. They are usually part of the media industry.

Garrynians being poor might tarnish the classic image of poor people as beggars on the street, having dirty and worn out clothers, et cetera - however, this is far from the truth. The average citizen simply steal until they have what they need. Their quality of life is likely the same as a middle-class person, despite them being listed as 'poor' in the statistics.

Government and Political Structure

Country name (long form): People's Republic of Garrystan
Country name (short form): Garrystan
Country name (common reference): Garrystan
Government: Dictatorship / Autocracy
Capital city: Bigcity
Administrative divisions
Garrystan is divided into 13 districts.
Image
Major cities
1. Bigcity - Population: 1,145,677
2. Evocity - Population: 10,450
3. Oviscity - Population: 8,203
4. Sunvale - Population: 1,742
5. Downtown - Population: 1,190
Image

Constitution: None - the original constitution was eliminated when Garry came into power, and there has not been written another one
Legal system: A set of rules that exist in the country are to be followed by the citizens, or else they will be arrested. Other than that, police officers have permission to arrest citizens for any reason they have. Capital punishment exists, and it is done mostly by shooting or hanging, but any method of death can legally be used. Citizens are not allowed to kill each other, but they are however allowed to kill anyone that breaks into their home without getting arrested.

Transport

Transport is done mostly by walking, as the number of cars is very sparse. On average, there is 1 car per 1114 person. For this reason, it is difficult for people to move far away from the area they live in. Most seen cars are wrecks (war is the reason for this). The only form of public transport is by train.

There is also very few major roads in the country; in fact, it has no highways and it has few train tracks. No roads go out of the country, as citizens are not allowed to leave it.

The citizens are very skilled at stealing; therefore, they are not so dependent on money, and crime is basically their career. Also, they often live far away from workplaces (out on the countryside), and they don't own a car or anything, so they find themselves unable to go to work.

Your saying 3/4 people in your nation (More than that actually), spend their lives simply stealing? You do realize your GDP will be virtually non-existent then. And when you don't own a car, you work close. Like people in villages, or massive cities.

It is. The GDP is $102.736 million. That is extremely low, compared to (for example) Palau, which has a GDP of $164 million, but only has 21,000 inhabitants. These $102 million are basically made up of the 5,000-something rich people that live in the country. The GDP per capita in Garrystan is $92.

A thing i forgot to say about workplaces is that the number of workplaces is low (again because of the poverty). The only workplaces that exist is small grocery stores in the cities and the media industry, virtually.

My mistake I thought you set your GDP as 102 Billion. :palm:

So what is your government doing to improve that?
Mallorea and Riva should resign

Nothing. It is probably the most greedy, corrupt government in the world, but the people have learned to cope with that. A line in the factbook describes that pretty well;

Garrynians being poor might tarnish the classic image of poor people as beggars on the street, having dirty and worn out clothers, et cetera - however, this is far from the truth.
