Cyborg Hollands three entries are: FC Guingamp, Eindhoven Bears and SC Herenveen, 1st, 2nd & 3rd in the Ammant Bank Premier Divison in 2011. Carmarthen Daily Post

Carmarthen JJC bring home Ligetasse Esportiva!

Yesterday evening, at the Neutral National Stadium, Carmarthen JJC defeated Mumalu of Cyprardoes in a tense Ligetasse Final. The two teams had battled through the A-League Section of the Ligetasse. The Jays defeated teams from Cyborg Holland, Homelands Our, and another Swalenian side, Llandugan FC. They ran away with the A-League, winning 15 of their 19 games, only losing 2. Carmarthen won the league by over 13 points, their nearest rivals, Mumalu, whom they've just defeated in the final.

After topping the league, they were drawn against another Cyprardeos side, Lokisaiw. They first played at the Jenbridd, beating the side 2-0. Three days later, they travelled to Cyprardeos to play them. They won 2-1, with Hamish Wilkins netting twice. They would play Mumalu, who beat strong favourites the Montonovia XI, the national side of the smallest nation (by population) 4-3, after winning 3-1 at home in the second leg, overcoming a 2-1 deficit.

The Final was played in the Neutralia National Stadium, in front of 72,000 fans. Carmarthen got off to a great start, with Martin Williams scoring a header in the 7th minute. Carmarthen controlled the rest of the half, with numerous chances and Sam Hilgrove hitting the bar in the 38th minute. Carmarthen threw away the chance to kill the game, as Hamish Wilkins was brought down in the box, but the penalty was saved. Carmarthen paid for this, when Mumalu equalised in the 69th minute. The rest of the match was evenly balanced, with few chances for either side.

Extra was played out in driving rain, and the players were tiring. In the 2nd half, Carmarthen brought on the second ever female player to play in the male leagues. Rhanna Thomson, only 20, came on and, you couldn't have made it up, netted with her second touch, taking an excellently placed shot in the corner.

The Whistle went and wild celebrations ensued. The stand-in captain (for Will Turner, but more about him later) Giles Flatley lifted the trophy in the driving the rain, becoming the first team to win the Ligetasse Esportiva. The celebrations ran well into the morning, and the team will return this afternoon.

Copa Canadiense del Esportiva

Postby Free University » Thu Jul 05, 2012 10:35 am

A competition for nations which are currently in the region of Esportiva.

I had an idea to scorinate a regional Canadian Football tournament, using either (a) no rankings whatsoever, or (b) World Bowl rankings if that ends up being fair at all.

B) I realize World Bowl rankings of the nations participating in the cup, per se, would likely not be very fair. However, as the users behind Esportiva puppets have put in a lot of effort to accumulate ranking points in tournaments like the World Bowl, I think it would be reasonable to use the master nation's ranking (or whichever puppet has the best ranking) for your Esportiva puppet (one) in this regional tournament.

Proposed format: Single or double round robin in as large of groups as are feasible. Scorinating an Am/Can football tournament is a balance between the realism of having a small number of games played, vs the unfairness and disappointment that can generate for RPers if taken to the extreme. In my humble opinion, the ideal balance is a group stage of 8-10 games, then a two-leg aggregate for the first knockout round, then single-elimination the rest of the way through.

Thoughts/signups?

Lion of Judah BSC Roster

Code: Select all

GK David Ortega #6 181cm 23 y/o
DF Christopher Nguyen #1 176cm 22 y/o *

FW Damon Joaquim #2 176cm 23 y/o*
FW Cory Hamilton #5 169cm 21 y/o
Manager Oscar Herrera

Fresh off a repeat Beach Soccer Taijan Premier League championship, the Nova Sion's own Lion of Judah Beach Soccer Club will attempt to replicate its success on the international stage. Ever among the mainstays of both beach soccer and association football in Taijan, Lion of Judah has had a recent run of success with veteran beach footy goalkeeper Cormac Danielson and a host of young players plucked ripe from the colleges and youth teams of Taijan. Playing just ahead of Danielson, but with a reputation for shooting from all over the pitch, is team captain Chris Nguyen. Despite his youth, Nguyen has plenty of leadership experience, having previously captained the Taijan U-21 sides in both association football and beach soccer, as well as being a current international player in beach soccer. Ahead of Nguyen will be Carlton Cho, a brand-new signee from Hircumberg College, gaining his first professional experience. Many have called into question manager Herrera's decision to start Cho ahead of Roderick Bati, a veteran midfielder for the Lions' eleven-a-side team, but none on the team have expressed any misgivings. Finally, eleven-a-side international Jason Nogales and his sidekick Damon Joaquim will split the goal as they have the past four years in Nova Sion uninterrupted.

Style Modifier: 1.5 The Lions have always been accused of playing association football on a sandy pitch.

Background Info on the Team: The beach soccer doesn't exist in a league form here in Apox, however, we still wanted the oppurtunity to participate in the regional tournament, so, here we are! The players have been picked from local beach soccer games around beaches in Apox, and were tempted in with the promise of an all-expenses paid holiday with a kick-about on the beach thrown in.
Style Modifier: 0

THE TEAM:

Manager - Sir John Cross, Aged: 40
Bio - Sir John jumped at the chance to manage the beach soccer team from Apox after hearing about it. We secretly think that he hasn't been to Cyborg Holland for a while and wanted a free trip.

Goalkeeper - Jess Best, Aged: 27
Bio - Jess was spotted on a beach in Dwile, at the time in goal. She made a properly good save. She was in.

Defender - Jack Yulloon, Aged: 17
Bio - Jack was spotted on a more remote beach, 50 miles west of Dwile. However, the game standards were high, and he put in several consistent tackles.

Midfielder - Jolt Colt, Aged: 22
Bio - This is not his real name, and he is completely bonkers. However, good at beach football.

Midfielder - Sam Mingtrowski, Aged: 20
Bio - Sam is relatively useless at everthing, except supplying people with through-balls. We didn't have anyone else, so he was in.

Striker - Claire Zuy, Aged: 24
Bio - Claire is a veritable demon at football. 'Nuff said.

Subs
Bio - Not quite as good as the rest.
GK - Dai Frew, Aged: 19
DF - Viola Grentham, Aged: 30
MF - Steve Green, Aged: 23
ST - Dan Scott, Aged: 23

Zollnando Cyclones Roster

Head Coach: Darryl Beisner
Two time Thrilledge Beach Soccer Association Coach of the Year and long time Gold River goalkeeper. Finds that success comes from strong leadership and quality midfield play.

Starters

GK: Lance Forbis
An agile kid fresh off an outstanding regular season only to choke in the TBSA semifinals. Great reflexes and his hands are the size of pizza boxes. His dead accurate throws and unorthodox throwing style have gotten his the nickname "The Slingshot".

DF: Calvin Fraizer
While not the quickest player in the game, Fraizer relies on his incredible jumping ability to win balls out of the air and keep action away from the Zollnando goal. He is one of the teams veteran players and has played his entire career with the Cyclones.

MF: Ron Kingsbury
Right out of college this rookie is a speed demon. But what Beisner really likes about him is his motor. He never seems to have a lack of effort on the sand and his hustle for those 50-50 balls are an asset to the team.

MF: Keith Butler (C)
Butler is one of the smartest players on the field in any game. His ability to dissect defenses and place his passes with precision have made him not only a fan favorite but a clubhouse favorite. He has led the Cyclones in assists the past three years.

ST: Chad Wexler
One of the more energetic players in the game, "Wex" is known for running around and screaming like a lunatic after each goal he scores. His stature makes him a physical presence but his surprising quickness is also a weapon he possesses. By the end of the day, the opponents always know that Wex is crazy.

Substitutes

GK: Nate Cardwell
A quality backup keeper that can provide good goalkeeping in case of injury emergencies. Lifelong backup and student of the game.

DF: Harry Catalano
The go to sub for Beisner when leading. He provides great energy off the bench and can really place long passes.

MF: Brandon Ballenger
Lightning fast but often has trouble retaining possession of the ball as he tries too hard to make things happen. Not much of a passer but loves to shoot.

ST: Doug Walters
If you're in need an offensive boost Walters is your guy. The ball comes off his foot like a rocket and he's pretty accurate too. Just don't put him in too early because he'll run out of steam quickly.

PRESS RELEASE--FOR IMMEDIATE DISTRIBUTION
In a sport long characterized by obsessive, violent, irrational fans, even in Taijan where most consider themselves to be above such hooliganism, Lion of Judah has always been an oasis. The club, founded by the Nova Sion Rastafarian Fellowship in 1951, has always been associated with the kind of live-and-let-live philosophy espoused by that.
"Our club song is 'Three Little Birds', and we play it win or lose to remind the fans that it's always just a game, that it will be alright."
Such was the attitude of Lions manager Oscar Herrera going into the Esportivan Sun Beach Soccer Cup, though such abandon was hard to detect as he sat on the bench Monday, head in his hands, wondering how his club's international debut could have gone so badly.
"Our eleven-man side missed out on the Champions' League and the Globe Cup," Herrera told the Forum of New Zion, "So we thought, here's an opportunity to get ourselves out there, get the Lions in the books, represent Taijan in her national game. And we blew it."
He was referring, of course, to the Lions' 2-1 loss to the Redayan Sea Monsters, a tremendous blow to the Lions BSC's ego.
"Beach soccer is our game," said captain Christopher Nguyen, a national-team defender in both beach soccer and association football, "It's hard to believe we could start our international career this way." The Lions finished the association football season this year an uninspired sixth, but won the beach competition handily. Nguyen, who has long been considered a better beach soccer player than association footballer, went on to say that the failure was a failure of the entire team, including himself, though he did praise the efforts of goalkeeper Cormac Danielson for keeping the score low and especially rookie midfielder Carlton Cho, who scored the team's only goal.
"Carlton did a great job," said Nguyen, "It's not easy playing midfield at this level, especially the way we play it, but he showed a lot of hustle."
Cho is a recent signature from the College of Land Management, where he led the Wolverines to their first-ever national playoff appearance and was the first non-Green Ibex Corps trainee to captain the team. He appeared in Monday's match sporting the beginnings of the Lions' trademark dreadlocks, usually considered a sign of expecting to stay aboard for a long time.

Ferrosia beach lost today!

NCUT 5-4 Ferrosia Beach

We were almost there, the game was really unpredictable, no one knew who was going to win, Blake and Jandelão had put as 2 - 0, but, quickly, but Valdar (x4) and Kirsken (x1) stopped our dream of winning our first regional match. Jandelão and Jolrsson socred when there were 2 minutes left, but it wasn't enough. But we aren't eliminated yet! We can perfectly win from now on, I believe in them. Northern Cape University was probably the best team we were facing, adn, even though we lost, we should still be happy we lost by a difference of 1 goal.

This event will probably get people to found more Beach Soccer teams, which would enable us to create a league, as they are the only team.

Buy tomorrow's newspaper to know more about Ferrosia Beach, or browse Dnagerria Shillen Chanyael tomorrow at 17:00, they may win.

Also, only tomorrow, if you pay 2D$ more, you'll get Ferrosia Beach's official boook, which will be released in a week, but you can get it tomorrow! Don't miss the offer!

Press Release--For Immediate Disclosure

Some pride was regained today in the streets of Nova Sion as news came of a victory by the city's beloved Lions of Judah. "Three Little Birds", the club's song, played through the public announcement systems, and there were wide reports of dancing, reggae jams, and ganja smoking going on in the streets. After a disappointing loss in the previous set of matches, this 8-6 victory over the Beach Wanderers of Apox is seen as a sign that perhaps the Lions are the team they were thought to be.

Goals came in fast and hot from both sides throughout the game, with the Wanderers taking an early lead off two goals by dynamic striker Claire Zuy. The Lions answered with a spectacular kick from the rear corner by defender Christopher Nguyen, deflected into the goal by substitute striker Cory Hamilton. Zuy completed her hat trick later in the first period, scoring off a steal from Carlton Cho. The second period opened with the two sides trading goals, the Wanderers' coming from the midfielder known as "John Colt" and being answered by Cho late in the fourteenth minute. The two sides traded the ball for most of the rest of the period, until Roderick Bati came off the bench to bury a goal from midfield to end the period 3-4 Wanderers.

The Lions' first lead came early in the third and final period, when a rejuvenated Cho kissed a downfield pass from Nguyen with his forehead to send it into the near post in front of Wanderers keeper Best's gloves, followed by another spectacular backfield goal, from Nguyen. The Wanderers answered with an artistic equalizer from midfielder Mingtrowski, his first of the competition, that sailed just over the gloves of keeper Cormac Danielson. A timeout was called, and manager Herrera gave the team a piece of his mind; no audio exists, and televised recordings have his mouth blurred out for almost every other word, but whatever he said worked. The Lions came out with a highly offensively-minded attack, landing goals by Cho, Joaqui, and Nogales in rapid succession. The Wanderers had not said their piece, however; with one minute to go, a goal kick by Best found home in the Lion's net, having gotten past a distracted Danielson, to bring the score to 6-8.

"It was a win," said Oscar Herrera, ever one to damn with faint praise. "We got a lot of lucky breaks, there's no denying that; Chris's two goals were both pure chance, and those were the two goals that won it."

Dandiyí for you

Ferrosia Beach won by a narrow margin

Ferrosia Beach 4-2 MRSC

Ferrosia Beach, a polluted beach which is the only reason why we get some tourists, there, a team of beach football settled, a really good one, apparently. Ferrosia Beach, and they won yesterday. Jandelão scored the four goals, one with a bicycle kick, one from the middle of the field, one after an off-ball by hitting it in an acrobatic way, and the other one from afar. Marley Royal Sporting Club, a Liecntian team, played well, but they couldn't bare Jandelão's flawless performance.

Also, there are more good news for Ferrosia Beach, 3 new teams have signed up for the Beach Football official league of Dandillis, Dandiyí Starru FC, Forrelle FC and Ferrosia Tigers. This means they may start playing a beach football league, if they get some more teams. Beach football really is evolving ni Dandillis.

Buy tomorrow's newspaper to know more about Ferrosia Beach, or browse Dnagerria Shillen Chanyael tomorrow at 20:00, they can win again, at least we hope they do.

Also, if you missed yesterday's offer, you can still get it for just 4D$ 2D$ more, you'll get Ferrosia Beach's official boook, which will be released in 6 days, but you can get it tomorrow! Don't miss the offer!

'Well done lad (and ladies), as you'd expect we've lost everything!" smiled the manager, "however, are we having a good holiday?"

There was a rousing cheer from the team, which startled some nearby spectators who were here to watch the game.

"Alright, let's go and give a good account of ourselves!" he shouted, and the players jogged out to the centre of the pitch.

...They lost 6-8.
