Gladius Inc. CEO Lucius Cello, welcomes the decision made by the Cukarican Senate in favor of developing a new infantry tank for the Cukarican Imperial Legions. Thanks to decisive support by the Legio Imperialis Logistics and Equipment Headquarters in Neapolis, a major step has now been taken toward better utilizing and hence maintaining the national production capacities for armored vehicles. The decision not only benefits the two systems companies involved in the project, Gladius Industries and PILVM, it is also to the advantage of the G;adius' Ascelonian AvecNord partners whose role as suppliers of high-tech electronics would prove to be very beneficial to them as well.
Contract for the new tank is worth 967 million Imperial Credits, and the first procurement batch will cover around 800 new infantry tanks, with the first being handed over to the government starting from mid-2014. In order to develop and build the new vehicle, Gladius and Ascelonian AvecNord early on set up a joint venture, each company holding a 50-percent stake. The new tank, dubbed Project 212A, which is considered to be a key project in the modernization of both the Cukarican and Ascelonian army, is regarded worldwide as the most advanced system of its kind.
The development of new major components including the completely new chassis, fire control, armour, drive system and the remote-controlled turret, will ensure that the high standards of the Cukarican army are satisfied. Moreover, the system's innate modularity will facilitate later integration of further components with added performance features.
