Overview

Image

The Kingdom of New Rogernomics is a gargantuan, socially progressive nation, ruled by Mark Rosendale with a fair hand, and remarkable for its museums and concert halls. Its hard-nosed, intelligent population of 16.05 billion are free to do what they want with their own bodies, and vote for whoever they like in elections; if they go into business, however, they are regulated to within an inch of their lives.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent government stops and the rest of society begins, but it concentrates mainly on Education, although Social Equality and Social Welfare are on the agenda. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Astroberg. The average income tax rate is 100%. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Book Publishing industry, followed by Tourism and Information Technology.

Crime is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. New Rogernomics's national animal is the Grey Wolf, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, its national religion is Anglicanism, and its currency is the Draemark.

There are nine mega-cities, which constitute the fabric of the civilization. The city of Astroberg acts as the capital and administrative center of the nation, with the operations of government conducted in an underground city network; it however does not house the seat of the Monarchy, which exists within the historic former capital of Bouranburg city.

Darma city acts as the commercial center, hosting the commercial headquarters of the major Corporations and the stock exchange. Thepaula city is the industrial center, with the arms production facilities of the nation, as well as other major domestic production existing there.

Gironde is the major port city, where the largest port and shipping facilities are located, and it is a popular ocean resort area. The major universities and scientific institutes are located in New Gironde, which acts as hub for education and scientific research.

Alveras, Atlantica, Bure are the minor cities of New Rogernomics, which are largely cultural and population centers rather than having a focus on a particular sector of the economy.

History

~ Introduction ~

The Kingdom of New Rogernomics has a rich and ancient history spanning back to its first origins as the land of the Authai clans (who were tribes under no single or clear ruler) during the 11th century A.D. Speculation is that the tribes that were a mix of Germanic, and Frankish tribal entities and must have arrived no later than 1064 A.D.

By the middle ages the Authai Clans had adopted Christianity and renamed themselves the Kingdom of Rogernomics, this was under an oppressive Monarchist system, which ruled with an iron fist and at times bled the nation dry. It had a strong feudal system and everyone gave their allegiance to the King, there was little internal strife as the royal line was well established. The citizens were heavily controlled by the military and over the next few centuries these settlers developed into a distinct culture now known as New Rogernomican. The population was divided into districts (regions) and duchy’s (sub regions) which would co-operate, compete and sometimes fight with each other. All however were usually dominated by a leading King or Duke with a Monarch’s powers.

Later on in 1901 the Republic collapsed and a military dictatorship was formed under General Darmagovich. After great resistance from citizens against the regime the Rogernomics Federation was formed, dividing up the nation into Darma who supported the dictator, Bouranburg who were heavily against the dictator, and Rogernomica which had a mix of both sides; and was a neutral territory. The nation soon recovered and re-established a democratic government in the form of the Republic of New Rogernomics.

Early Middle Ages

A jousting tournament in Authairea
New Rogernomics had its first origins as the land of the Authai, being bands of tribes under no single or clear ruler during the 11th century A.D. The tribes are speculated to have been a mix of Bulgarian and Germanic, and Frankish tribal entities; arriving no later than 1064 A.D. This is considered the most accurate date for the establishment of the tribes in the Authairea region.

Around 1081 A.D. a tribal chieftain by the name of Sarvon Grau had a rise to power as a result of his military efforts to unite the tribes under a single banner, establishing himself as the Monarch of Authairea. The battle of the Authine River of March the 13th, 1086 A.D. led to the defeat of two rival chieftains, by the name of Darmov and Fabe; in which Sarvon Grau set lose ambush tactics on his enemies. He forced them into the river with left and right flank pincer movements, as well as archers untouchable to his enemies across the river; as a result much of the enemy forces drowned or were speared to death, or alternatively killed by the archers’ arrows. Over 2000 died compared to Sarvon Grau’s loss of only 271 men.

As a result of this victory the rivals were forced to surrender, and were put to death. Sarvon Grau crowned himself as the “King of Authairea” later in 1087 A.D thus laying the foundations for the later state of Rogernomics. In his reign King Sarvon Grau converted the kingdom to the religion of Char and established a feudal system (involving the use of duchy’s or regions that were ruled directly from the capital by the King). However it could be said he was an unstable and cruel man, who often put his fellow nobles to death in order to pay for his extravagant tastes such as vast feasts, and the construction of Authairea castle. He died in 1096 A.D. after a jousting accident.

Late Middle Ages

Image
Enlightenment reaches the Kingdom
The most prominent ruler of the renaissance era was Queen Eviare (1750-1815 A.D) who chiefly restructured the economy and presided over the Kingdom's cultural renaissance, reforming the political system to a more benign constitutional monarchy though without a parliament.

Additionally during her shrewd leadership she built up the military forces and supported in some cases political factions, though was careful not to get herself involved in internal conflicts that she could not win.

However her most significant contribution was the reconstruction project of the capital, as before her reign most people lived in primitive straw and stone houses; but during 1520 she ordered architects and engineers across the land to the capital. She invited lords and influential nobles from across the nation to rebuild the capital and bring the city into the new age.

She built grand palaces and citadels for the nobles, and a magnificent extension to the original castle, an extension that the current monarch of New Rogernomics lives in today. But perhaps for her people the most important part of her reconstruction was her demolishing of the older housing (in favor of marble and brick) as well as the improvement of living standards with better access to water, better facilitates, cleaner streets and a more modern city.

Revolutionary period

During the revolutionary period the Kingdom of Rogernomics was largely behind, despite significant moves in electoral reform and even the establishment of parliament by the Monarch King Armonde (1820-1863). But rather than decreasing the dissatisfaction of the people it fact increased their desire for more effective control of the government by the people rather than by the Monarch and the wealthy and influential nobles.

As a result rioting and chaos erupted across the nation, with some nobles responding with brutal force similar to that of the French nobility during the French revolutionary period, as a response there was a brutal crackdown by the military and the King cut the powers of parliament, imposed greater taxes and banned all political discussion even among the nobility. At first this had widespread support between the nobility and the military due to the severity of the situation and both assumed it would be resolved and their power restored.

However King Armonde became obsessed with the threat of being assassinated and for good reason when one of the generals of his army made an attempt on his life in 1859 because the general and the military was by in large tired of the restrictions imposed on the nation and parliament. As a result rather than lifting the restrictions he made them even tougher, but it was the last straw as far as many were concerned when in 1862 he decided to double the tax on nobles in order to have statues made of himself throughout the nation.

Finally in 1863 there was a massive drought and many people across the nation were starving, but in the capital King Armonde largely ignored this and held a banquet to honor the founding of the Kingdom, such display of wealth could not have been planned at a worse time because once people heard about it foul rumors spread about how the King supposedly ate and drank all day and night for three days and pushed away the news of the drought and ignored all council.

A few days after the military mounted a revolution, stormed the palace and put the Monarch in prison, and restored the parliament. But despite this the military and Parliament still felt that the Monarchy should be restored and established a constitutional monarchy severely limiting the Monarch to virtually no power.

But even then King Armonde continued to concern and anger nobles and commoners alike for showing even further displays of wealth. This came to a forefront in November the 14th of that year when he had a bath of gold. As a response the military was told by messenger in a unanimous vote of parliament to end the Monarchy. His wife Queen Saraut and his two sons were put to death in private by poison; while the Monarch himself had his head cut off in a public execution and his body was dropped in the nearby river. Many bystanders reportedly threw rocks at his body as it floated out to sea.

The end of the monarchy

The death of the royal family ended the monarchy and established principally a parliamentary republic run by the nobility in the nation - which was effectively renamed the 'Republic of Rogernomics'. The nobles decided to abolish the monarchy (denying the right of any of them to absolute power). Those who resisted found themselves forced to sign, not because they wanted to; but because they feared the sort of revolution that could end their lives (not just the kings). Thus this move was more to guarantee their own safety through good standing with the common people of the nation, than to give away power; power they still retained.

Post monarchy era

Life under the Damagovich dictatorship
Full Name: Edward Smith Damagovich Lived: December the 1st to 1865 to 9th of September 1918

Edward Smith Damagovich was born two years after the revolution, on the 1st of December 1865. His parents Laura Smith and Adam Damagovich were killed the day after by members of the nobility, during a pro-democracy rally. He grew up in the Authai Sun orphanage learning to read and write, though he was viewed as a trouble maker and by the age of 16 he was sent into the armed forces of the Republic of Rogernomics.

He first came to prominence during a 1000 strong riot at the increasing price of food and poor wages on August the 9th, 1889 in the city of Authairea; this was later to be called the day of blood. The 24 year old Corporal Damagovich led a small force to confront the rioters, with cannons disguised in wooden carts. The rioters attempted to attack his force, though instead of Damagovich using no lethal force (as he was ordered) his troops were told to shoot on site. This caused the rioters to become enraged still further as they attempted to reach the houses of Parliament; he had the cannons loaded and began firing at the rioters, over 847 people were killed and the rest were injured. He was later commended and made a general of the army for his actions. When the news spread of the massacre across the nation rage was replaced by fear. This is still controversial today, though historians argue that without this massacre the violence could have spread across the nation causing even more unnecessary death.

This slight relief was to be short lived however as by 1901 the government of the Republic of Rogernomics was in dire straights. Economic progress was still too slow; on July 24th a general election was held, but failed to give any party a majority despite high voter turn out. General Damagovich chose this time to strike against the central government. He managed to get together a force of 100 calvary, 20 cannons, and 300 soldiers.

At the entrance to the houses of parliament the guards opened the gates assuming they were there to reinforce the guard. The Parliament was in session, and was considering voting on state of emergency legislation; which would give Damagovich's main military rival General Lemande De Fleur dictatorial powers till they could elect a new government.

Once the gates were open his 100 Calvary and 20 cannons attacked and killed the parliamentary garrison of over 400 soldiers. Inside the parliament was trapped by the approaching General Damagovich and sent an urgent telegram to General Lemande De Fluer to respond. Though he was to late and by the time he arrived Damagovich had massacred 121 members of parliament, and forced the surviving nine members to sign power over to him. General De Fleur was shot by soldiers of General Damagovich as he was unaware that Damagovich's forces were the enemy. This ended the Republic of Authairea as a democracy. General Damagovich took the reigns of power over the economically brittle nation.

Though he still kept the name Republic of Rogernomics, it was a totally different story. He appointed a parliament that agreed with him and gave full control of the army and all legislative rights to himself. However his coup d'eat did not solve the security situation and riots spread across the nation. He responded by conscripting people into the armed forces and imposing martial law. The riots however soon formed an underground rebellion movement of intellectuals and normal citizens called the "Free Rogernomics Movement" or FRM for short. The General attempted to clamp down on more civil and political rights and removed the people's to assemble private meetings. He is also claimed to have imprisoned and killed 204,689 people though his secret police as he began to lose grip on power and especially as the nation plunged towards civil war.

However General Damagovich had improved the economy, as before his reign there were problems with food shortages and the economy as a whole. He passed legislation allowing the assembly of workers unions, and the establishment of state industries for arms manufacturing. This increased the GDP by over 20% and decreased unemployment so certainly his regime (though brutal) reshaped the economy before the civil war which would split the Republic of Authairea apart.

Damagovich after the civil war ended on the 9th June 1912 retired to an resort residence (in what is now a Memorial Park). There he lived out the rest of his life writing poetry till his death by the white crescent virus on the 9th of September 1918. His coffin was lead through the streets of Bouranburg with full military honours and millions came to watch his coffin go past, despite the quarantine measures during the white crescent virus outbreak. He rests in state in the Damagovich Memorial Park named after him.

Damagovich is a controversial figure to date, as he is hated in many parts of the nation for his brutal regime. There was 30% economic growth over the period, and a military police state which oppressed the population through a secret police force, which led to the deaths of more than 204,000 people. However many still admire the improvement he made to people’s lives, specially in some areas of Bouranburg and Thepalua; were there are various memorials and statues that commemorate his existence.

The district of Bouranburg founded a National Park called the Damagovich Memorial Park. Traditionally the armistice of the civil war on June the 9th 1912 is remembered in the Damagovich Memorial Park, it is a date both for mourning the dead of the civil war and celebrating the rebirth of the Republic of New Rogenomics into a modern, civilized nation.

The Civil War

Image
FRM rebels on patrol
Finally the Republic of Rogernomics' citizens began to revolt and General Darmagovich grew restless and angry of the increasing dissent within the nation and so started a campaign to eliminate the rebels.

This campaign though initially successful (through his military police force) ended in disaster when many of his generals joined the rebels and eventually gaining control of most of the country, with both Southern and Northern Rogernomics under their control.

With the war getting worse, it was decided that a compromise and peace would need to be made. The Rogernomics Anglican church decided to intervene when it was contacted by the government of General Daramagovich, and the nation was agreed eventually by all parties to be divided into three, and for full democracy to be restored.

When the formal peace occurred on the 9th June 1912, General Darmogovich (under the peace deal established with the support of the Anglican church) abdicated his place as dictator of Rogernomics.

But this peace would be short lived as a horrific influenza pandemic took hold in the Republic of Rogernomics, the pandemic was caused by the 'white crescent virus', deaths went into the millions as contact between villages and towns spread the virus.

A national quarantine was eventually imposed for 34 years and even General Darmogvich was struck down by the virus in 1918, dying with the sympathy of his people. A national park would later be established in the memory of him and his victims, where he was finally laid to rest.

Late 20th Century

With the plague threat subsiding, the Rogernomics government was heavily in debt and fell into depression while desperately trying to rebuild the country. At a session of parliament a name change was decided by a sound majority, the Republic of Rogernomics would now be known as the 'Republic New Rogernomics'; it's new capital would be Astroberg.

At first this new beginning was undermined by government corruption and low education, but small businesses started up when educated refugees from villages and towns settled forming the first major cities with the onset of an industrial revolution; later a state capitalist model was developed and the state and private sector became closely linked. High tax rates however were implemented by the government, which encouraged investment money to be directed into a black market.

As a result of the additional tax revenue living standards increased because despite the high taxes, a large market underground developed; which at first was attacked by the government but was simply accepted by it due to the fact it brought in revenue and seemed to build up the state corporations through personal taxation revenue.

The Great Smog (2008-2013)

Image
Pollution levels in Authaira city in 2008
Industrialization caused havoc to the natural environment, with forests rapidly disappearing and with unwillingness among the business community and the general population to do anything about it - catastrophe struck. Desertification and record high levels of air pollution were major issues in the country from 2008-2013.

The industrial crisis in 2008 came to be as a result of poor environmental regulation towards air-quality, nature areas, and waste disposal. Local authorities refused to penalize businesses for dumping waste; and otherwise turned a blind eye to environmental destruction in exchange for contracts and employment opportunities for local residents.

Developers added to the problem by moving into greenbelts and national parks, with the support of central and local government; and not enough funding was put into public transport to bring down air-pollution from private transport.

However from 2010, with the support of the World Assembly, New Rogernomics poured money into environmental policy and public transport; whilst tightening industrial regulations and moving towards a restoration of the natural eco-system and natural environment. The results of such initiatives surprised many, given the speed to which the government responded in combating the issue.

As of 2014 New Rogernomics has been well above average in regards to environmental beauty, which has effectively brought an end to the crisis.

Today

Mark Rosendale was crowned as King of New Rogernomics, replacing the previous Monarch Sireon Yarth who retired in 2013. New Rogernomics has an average rate of economic growth, and begins the 21st century as a developed country with a deep respect for civil and political liberties; and human rights. New Rogernomics is a relatively peaceful nation, that abides by International Law; it is committed to work within the framework of the World Assembly, and adopt and implement resolutions that come from the organization.

Culture

Cultural Identity

New Rogernomicans have a rich and celebrated culture, with music halls, museums, coffee and tea shops frequented by locals and foreigners alike. Most New Rogernomicans are patriotic but embrace foreign and local cultures, while maintaining a solitary and ordered nature they tend to be viewed as rude, hard nosed and determined; but are renowned for their altruistic nature.

Customs
New Rogernomicans greet each other by looking at each other, and then averting their eyes to the ground in a swift motion. This is to give reverence to the other's spirit, it is considered an insult against the person's character to omit this greeting.

Another popular custom is to eat breakfast and lunch at a tea or coffee house, many are communal feasts shared among families. Most people eat out or cook with others, it is only on a private or formal engagement that there is cooking at home. This is a central tenet of society, that food and resources should be shared to benefit all of society not just a few, there is no greater pride in New Rogernomics than preparing a good meal, a good cup of tea or a good coffee. Though tea and coffee houses are the main places for socializing, with vigorous debates, personal, political or economic relationships formed and broken within their walls.

Traditionally each day is ended with either a prayer; the non religious tend to write poems or try to embrace their creative side to find peace with themselves. This is meant to cleanse of impure thoughts or feelings to each other, and purge violent impulses.

New Rogernomicans then go out with friends and family to party or to celebrate the new day, such celebrations end by the morning, which is the time to sleep or to release stress and anxiety.

form this constitution to protect the political and civil rights of the citizens of Authairea,
as well as the governance and protection of its territory.

National Anthem (Freedom and Justice Reigns):

To make our flame burn brightly
Let us Bless our King/Queen*
Chorus(2): In Peace
In Peace

*Historical basis:
It was from the royal song of the Authairea royal line.
It opens Parliament, takes place in the coronation,
and is also sung at Freedom Day celebrations,
to commemorate the nations' past history.
It was also a rallying song for rebels during the civil war,
and for Monarchists throughout the centuries.
Government and Political Structure

New Rogernomics is a constitutional monarchy, with an appointed Council of Ministers (otherwise known as the Executive Council). It has a democratically elected judicial system whereby the judges are elected by the people. The King heads the government and is appointed by divine succession as decided by the church. The current political rights of citizens, including universal suffrage and fair governance were established on June 9th, 1912 onwards with the signing of the current constitution.

New Rogernomics has a relatively stable government system, although it has been argued to have significant corporate-government relationships and interest groups and maintains a close relationship with all business bodies, or so it has been reported by independent observers. However despite this it's citizens have significant freedom in political activity; although the King has final say on who gets appointed to the Council of Ministers, and may veto or action legislation/judicial decisions of his/her own.

The Monarchy of New Rogernomics

The Monarchy is the bedrock of the civil society of the nation, and it has wide ranging authority that spreads to various commercial, religious, cultural, as well as educational or scientific institutions. Beginning as despotic rule by the tribal chieftain and king Sarvon Grau, it became attached to the religious authorities of the nation; through the defacto state religion of Anglicanism. While the king at that time, he united the various tribes, and structured the nation along feudal and duchy region lines. Lastly, he established the Authairean Royal line, and built Authaiea Castle, which still stands today.

Queen Eviare was the monarch that presided over the cultural Renaissance of the nation, and was able to organize major public works, and establish the Monarchy on less authoritarian, and more constitutional lines, as well as bring public education and the greater public consciousness that came with it. Though the pace of development was slow, and public dissatisfaction was building. The next Monarch, King Armonde established parliament and pushed on regardless with further political reforms. However this would not save the Monarchy from a popular revolt, with King Amronde effectively executed and his family poisoned in 1863.

A New Beginning

The Monarchy was revived many centuries later on May the 12th in 2008 under Lord Sireon Yarth, who was given the powers of a constitutional Monarch under the jurisdiction of parliament and the House of Lords. His reign was relatively quiet and overwhelming popular, with support of at least 80% of the people in several polls conducted at the time.

His sudden death however brought a brief end to the monarchy, despite the Lord on his deathbed requesting all parties retain it. Political feuds broke out between the republican New Rogernomics Green-New Rogernomics Libertarian Party faction, and the Moralist Progressive-Communist Party faction, the later wishing to establish a new monarch.

While the political squabbling continued, a small student movement called the 'Authairean knights' was established, and was very popular among the noble classes and military circles, eventually it was incorporated into the military academy. At this point it became politically active, organizing a bloodless military coup that placed it's leader 'Mark Rosendale', being a descendant of Long Sireon Yarth on the throne.

The Monarchy Today

King Mark Rosendale had his coronation recently on the 1st of January of 2014, and established the nation as effectively a multi-party state, with an executive council, which is appointed by the King on a yearly basis. Currently he is grudgingly accepted by the middle and lower classes, but holds the full support of the nobles, military and the corporate, scientific and education leaders.

Religion

Image

Anglicanism is the national religion of New Rogernomics. It receives no state funding, most of its operating income instead comes through it's commercial arm 'Ester And Unis'. New Rogernomicans tend to openly interpret the religion as they wish; the faith however is integrated into the military forces, and some of the politicians and state officials have some belief in Anglicanism.

The other religious beliefs in New Rogernomics are based around spiritualism and the worship of nature deities such as forest, river or mountain spirits, and the dead spirits of ancestors; while Atheism remains the view of the majority in religious maters.

Religious Views:
Atheism: 53.2%

Christianity: 20.6%
- Anglicanism: 14.6%
- Protestantism: 4%
- Other: 2%

Spirituality: 18%

Unspecified/Non practicing: 8.2%

The New Rogernomics Coastal Defense (NRCD Force) controls the defensive turrets along the coast, 8 aircraft carriers, 16 missile cruisers and 4 nuclear submarines.

The New Rogernomics Ground Defense (NRGD Force) consists of major city defense systems such as skyscraper mounted missile turrets deployed across the city that can be quickly assembled in place, it also controls six core military bases, and currently has deployed two howitzer artillery divisions, two tank divisions, and four mechanized infantry divisions in each city; though this changes upon need.

Note: New Rogernomics division is five units.

History of Military Engagement

New Rogernomics throughout its history has neither been overly militaristic or overly peaceful, with its first origins after the battle of the Authine River, where the 'Kingdom of Authairea' (as New Rogernomics was known then) finally united under a single military authority; the exception during the civil war with a a split of the military between rebel and dictator loyalist armies.

However, quite contrary to other nations New Rogernomics has never had a feudal system which allowed lords, dukes and nobles to maintain a military force of their own; the defense of the nation was the exclusive responsibility of the monarch. Under Queen Eviare 's reign this began to be become the responsibility of the elected parliament, later it went under the absolute authority of the parliament in King Armonde's ill-fated reign; which saw the end of the monarchy and a revolution.

The Civil War

The civil war involved several major battles, though it was mostly a guerrilla war fought in the streets and by an underground resistance network; the heart of this resistance network was in the city of Atlantica, that was also the first city to declare its independence after the assassination of its military governor and a popular uprising.

The first major battle took place In New Gironde with a disastrous military campaign for the rebels, who were pushed all the way back to Atlantica. General Damagovich, who never took the title President or Prime Minister (instead preferring to impose his rule through a puppet parliamentary authority), after learning of the rebellion in Atlantica; and the rebels liberation of the cities of Gironde and Bure, began to marshal his forces.

His first strike back against the rebels occurred on August the 8th 1907 when he ordered airbases in Bouranburg, Alveras and Darma to mount daily raids on infrastructure on the rebel held cities;. These raids were designed to disable factories, opposing airbases, railways and roads; to make it difficult for the rebel forces to provide their armies with regular reinforcements. This would play a major role in the battle for New Gironde (on the 10th of December of that year), as General Damagovich was able to move his tanks, artillery and infantry quickly to the front; the rebels had to rely on their standing army, which was outnumbered and out-gunned throughout the battle. The result was unsurprising, with 3411 casualties on the rebel side alongside 7091 injured; in comparison General Damagovich's forces lost 765 men and had 3449 injured,

This major setback did not put the rebels off however, who had been building up private armies and resistance cells throughout the nation; General Damagovich was unprepared for a nationwide uprising in every city, the moment he put down one uprising another would start up in another city. The rebels thus resolved not to try to fight him on the battlefield, but instead focus their efforts on wearing down General Damagovich's forces and winning over the population; which was tiring rapidly of military rule. They would formally rename themselves 'FRM' or the 'Free Rogernomics Movement'.

With the nation in open revolt General Damagovich decided upon terror campaigns and propaganda efforts, though these were not required in Darma, Bouranburg and Alveras which had either remained neutral or openly supported the dictator; either out of fear or because of the success of propaganda campaigns that portrayed rebel forces as rogue royalists seeking to put a King back on the throne, which provided less than fond memories of monarchist rule under King Armonde.

End of the Civil War

The Battle of Darna on the 7th of June 1912 was the last major battle of the Civil War, it resulted in a massive military defeat for General Damagovich and lost him control over most of the country. The first setback for his loyalist forces was that the rebels (learning from the first battle) did not move their forces at once; but instead moved them in separate groups over successive months gradually to the front. The second setback was that the General could no longer rely on his air forces to attack railways and infrastructure, due to terrible weather and an oil shortage due to rebel attacks on his supply lines; for the few weeks before and the few weeks during the defense of Darma. Unfortunately also for General Damagovich, one his loyalist generals stationed near Bouranburg joined the rebels; and scuttled railways and roads that supplied his forces in Darma.

With no way to supply his forces, and with rebels closing in on him even General Damagovich realised his time was up.He sent out peace envoys to rebel held areas promising a return to democracy; if they laid down their arms and allowed him to retain rule for the period of new elections. These envoys were rejected, and the FRM offensive began on the first week of June; with the forces united on the 6th of June and unlike their first defeat were well supplied and had numerical superiority.

But he would not give the rebels an easy fight and his military experience was brought to bear. he engaged in a night assault and artillery barrage of rebel positions and despite poor weather managed to co-ordinate air-strikes against rebel encampments near the city; using his zeppelin bombers. This swift night assault would result in 4005 casualties and 2054 injured for the FAM forces, with a minimal 389 causalities and 1442 injured on the loyalist side. With this first assault it looked like the rebels would have to withdraw, but the day after the assault several of his generals joined the rebels; with no way to defend the city effectively he was forced to flee (by air) with his remaining loyalist forces to Bouranburg and Authairea.

After this battle he decided to admit defeat and requested an audience with Char's Eye, the wise shape-shifter being respected by both sides. The state religion of Char was neutral throughout the war and offered to treat the injured on both sides, whilst not supporting the interests of either side; thus it was the best mediation party to the end the war. With a peace conference on the 9th June 1912 the civil war officially ended with the retirement of General Darmagovich. Thus, the most brutal conflict in New Rogernomics history was over.

The Military Today

The military of New Rogernomics today intervenes largely on a humanitarian basis with other nations, but is prepared to liberate other nations if necessary for the reasons of national security; or if a brutal regime is on its doorstep which the New Rogernomics government would prefer had a more democratic and open form of government. The average military losses in war each year are a substantial 4% of population, though given the low rate of unemployment military engagement has negligible negative effect on the New Rogernomics economy and society; which exports and produces arms for use internally, whilst having a highly supportive view on the military and its activities in foreign nations.

New Rogernomics is state capitalist, consisting of several joint public-private companies, the largest being Hawk Zone Publishing (HZP) which is a leading book publishing firm, the second largest companies being InfronTech (IFNT) which has control over the information technology industry in New Rogernomics and exports security solutions and software, as well as DraveBolt (DB) (being the nations leading automobile manufacturer) which produces hydrogen and electric powered cars.

However there is a significant black market in the country, which the government doesn’t actively discourage, but keeps a close eye on; only the most severe offenders (being those that are caught more than once, and in public view) are punished and the sentence ranges between one to two years.

Unemployment and poverty are quite low, unemployment on average below 4%, as a direct result of education policy, as well as social welfare and social policies, which provide free primary to tertiary university education and guaranteed jobs upon graduation.

In the current century trade has boosted net wages, increased living standards and decreased living costs with economic growth each year keeping ahead of population growth, low debt levels exist with sound fiscal policy among the private and public sector. However in recent years economic growth in New Rogernomics has slowed, and the nation has been reported to have an average growth rate, in comparison to other nations.
