M113 Impaler
Image

[History]
The M113 Impaler is a product of the Advanced Heavy Rifle program, which began in 1992. The M113 has never been officially adopted and by all rights remains as the XM113 but it has been employed in limited scenarios in 2006 and again in 2010. The weapon is heavy and highly powerful, firing a large round, a .300 Remington Ultra Magnum with a slightly larger case size to provide more power. The result is the 7.82x80mm round, which is one of the most powerful, non-sniper-only rounds employed by the Empire. The M113 is highly expensive though and it has not been procured in large quantities. It has been rumored to be employed by "Super Soldiers;" although no evidence of this program even exists and this is largely considered to be conspiratory fiction. In order to make this large weapon capable of being fired without injury to the shooter, the weapon includes 16 ounces of mercury ballast in the buttstock acting as a counter-recoil device. The buttstock is padded with a high-strength rubber and it is not adjustable. The initial design cost over $100,000 with subsequent rifles costing over $50,000 each. The weapon is equipped with a 25x40mm grenade launcher.

[Variants]
The M113A1 Impaler is the only version produced.

[History]
The M114 Assault Rifle was the fourth contender for the Empire's new assault rifle in 2004. Like the M80 and M111 however, the M114 lost to the M81 mainly due to its lack of a burst option on the trigger. M116 Black Mamba
Image

[History]
The M116 Black Mamba was adopted in 2009 and it replaced several weapons in the process by its ability to be chambered in three different rounds. A large weapon, the Black Mamba fires high-caliber, high-powered rounds that were previously fired by the M33 Heavy Sniper Rifle, the M107 Sniper Rifle, and the M200 CheyTac Intervention. This single weapon system provides a Layartebian sniper with effective anti-material and anti-personnel support in excess of a mile. Since its adoption it has played pivotal roles in all Layartebian conflicts and was used to disable several armored vehicles during the Goodrule Campaign.

[Variants]
The M116A1 is chambered in 12.7x99mm and it replaced the Barrett M107 rifle.

The M116A2 is chambered in .408 CheyTac and it replaced the M200 CheyTac Intervention.

M117 Raptor
Image

[History]
The M117 Raptor was originally designed by Stalwart Munitions and it was purchased at the same time as the M114 Assault Rifle. However, the M117 did not compete in the assault rifle program like the M80, M81, M111, and M114. It was considered too expensive for use as a standard-issue assault rifle and it was also considered too expensive for a Special Operations weapon. However, its purchase has been shrouded in a great deal of secrecy and no confirmed use of it in combat has been verified; although, it has been suggested that it was used in August 2010 in Porto Velho by the Emperor's bodyguards. The weapon is based on the AN-94 Abakan and it uses the same pulley mechanism to slingshot a rapid fire of two rounds at an astounding 1,800 rounds per minute rate of fire. The weapon is lightweight equipped with counter-recoil systems. With a select-fire trigger group, the weapon can fire in single, burst, or automatic. In automatic, the first two rounds fire at the aforementioned rate while subsequent rounds fire at a slower, more manageable rate. It is noteworthy that two rounds at 1,800 rounds per minute will defeat almost all modern body armor with a single, two-round burst. It is also noteworthy that both of these rounds leave the barrel before any recoil is felt.

[Variants]
The M117A1 is the primary variant.

[Specifications]

  • Status: In-Service, Classified [A1]
  • Caliber: 6.8x51mm
  • Action: Gas-operated, rotating bolt, rotary conveyor mechanism
  • Fire Mode: Single, Burst (2), Automatic
  • Length [Overall]: 37.00 in. [extended]; 29.00 in. [collapsed]
  • Length [Barrel]: 16.00 in.
  • Weight: 7.30 lb.
  • Magazine: 30-round or 45-round box
  • Rate of Fire: 750 / 1,800 rounds per minute
  • Effective Range: 575 meters
  • Muzzle Velocity: 792 meters per second
  • Cost: $5,800

M118 AVIR
Image

[History]
The M118 AVIR began simply as the AVIR Advanced Personal Weapon System, a weapon system produced by the Doomingsland Defense Industries and Stalwart Munitions, two of the most respected munitions developers in the world. Originally adopted by Manchurian Global in 1999 to arm their elite bodyguard units, the Layartebian Defense Corporation eventually procured its production rights in 2005 but it was not adopted by the military. A high capable and advanced weapon system, the AVIR combines small ammunition and a high rate of fire to knock down targets with greater ease than most assault rifles in the world. Well-constructed and easily cared for, the AVIR was introduced to the Imperial Layartebian Military as the M118 and is used by a variety of specialized units as well as domestic and civilian police agencies. Its 6.7x35mm cased telescopic round is one of the more unique rounds available in the world and provides enough punch to give the M118 the ability to knock down even the largest of foes with just a few rounds.

[Variants]
The M118A1 is the primary variant.

The M118A2 features a shorter barrel than the "A1" and acts as a carbine of sorts.

The M118A3 features a longer barrel than the "A1" and acts as a marksman weapon.

[Specifications]

  • Status: Not Adopted [A1/2/3]
  • Caliber: 6.7x35mm CTA
  • Action: Balanced long stroke gas piston, rotating bolt
  • Fire Mode: Single, Automatic

M119 ADEC
Image

[History]
The ADEC light machine gun is another fine product from the Doomingsland Defense Industries and Stalwart Munitions companies. It was designed in conjunction with the AVIR in order to provide a sophisticated yet simple and reliable light machine gun with enough firepower to replace the older generation of light machine guns seen in worldwide service. Boasting a rate of fire in excess of 1,200 rounds per minute, the ADEC takes the flag from the MG3 and MG42 predecessors and uses a roller delayed blowback operation to provide an impressive rate of fire. Other important features included a full integrated rail system, a vented heat shield, adjustable stock, and an advanced flash-suppressing muzzle brake fitted to the weapon's threaded muzzle, which serves to reduce recoil by a large degree at the cost of making the weapon generate far more noise volume than it otherwise would have. Despite its high rate of fire, the ADEC is fully capable of being fired from either the hip or the shoulder with great ease, thanks to the many recoil reducing features included with the weapon system. Originally chambered for the same 6.7x35mm round as the AVIR, the ADEC has been adopted into the Imperial Layartebian Military in two additional calibers: 6.8x51mm and 7.62x51mm. Like the M118 AVIR, Manchurian Global procured the weapon in 1999 and the military adopted it in 2008.

[Variants]
The M119A1 ADEC is the original variant chambered for 6.7x35mm CTA. It was not adopted by the military.

The M119A2 ADEC was adopted by the military as 6.8x51mm.

The M119A3 ADEC is an "A2" variant chambered for 7.62x51mm.

M121 Ripper
Image

[History]
The M121 Ripper began life as the M121 Combat Shotgun but it was renamed upon its IOC in 2010. It is a versatile, heavy-duty, combat shotgun designed for 10-gauge and 12-gauge rounds slug, shot, dart, and less-lethal rounds. The M121 is a dual-action system allowing both semi-automatic and pump-action firing modes with little recoil. Equipped with a pulse-piston system to reduce recoil and add versatility, the M121 can cycle between round types in semi-automatic mode. Fourteen ounces of mercury are also installed in the buttstock and a high-density, rubber pad on the end of the buttstock also contribute to reducing the recoil. Because the M121 is equipped with a rail system, it can mount a number of optics, lasers, lights, and designators to allow the user more versatility with the weapon. Additionally, the stock can be changed for adjustable Carbine-like stocks but these might increase recoil to the operator, depending on their design. It is available in two barrel sizes, 24" and 20" with magazine changes. With a 24 inch barrel, the M121 can hold up to eight 2 3/4 or 3 inch shells and up to six 3 1/2 inch shells, plus one in the chamber. With a 20 inch barrel, the M121 can hold up to seven 2 3/4 inch, six 3 inch, or five 3 1/2 inch shells, plus one in the chamber.

[Variants]
The M121A1 is the long-barrel 10-gauge variant.

The M121A2 is the short-barrel 10-gauge variant.

The M121A3 is the long-barrel 12-gauge variant.

The M121A4 is the short-barrel 12-gauge varaint.

M122 Heavy Anti-Material MagazinE-fed Rifle (HAMMER)
Image

[History]
The M122 Heavy Anti-Material, MagazinE-fed Rifle or HAMMER was introduced in mid-2009 as a response to lessons learned through combat throughout the better part of the 2000s and by the retirement of the M39 Payload Rifle, which was never produced or issued in high numbers. Military personnel requested a heavy, anti-material rifle that could do more damage to an armored personnel carrier than the 15.5x115mm round. Though a variety of rounds were evaluated, including the 25x59mm round of the M39 and M123, ultimately, designers fell back upon the 20x102mm that had once served as the main aircraft round. The 20x102mm PGU-28A/B Semi-Armor Piercing High Explosive Incendiary (SAPHEI) round fired by the M122 HAMMER was the main round of the M61 Vulcan for more than a decade before the Imperial Layartebian Military shifted to the 27mm round it uses today in the M304 Impulse Revolver Cannon. The M122 is a very heavy weapon but it can be broken down into several components, including the receiver, barrel, muzzle brake, bipod, and scope. The M122 is the biggest and heaviest sniper rifle fielded by the Imperial Layartebian Military but because it can be broken down, a two-man team using it can effectively break up the weight of the weapon to reduce fatigue. It uses a free-floating barrel and due to its size, it has very low amounts of recoil, despite the 20x102mm round it fires. It can also fit a suppressor to reduce its muzzle flash and aural signature. It is not in widespread use but it is rumored to be used to defend the Fortress of Comhghall in static positions.

[Variants]
The M122A1 is the primary variant.

[Specifications]

  • Status: In-Service [A1]
  • Caliber: 20x102mm
  • Action: Bolt-action
  • Fire Mode: Single
  • Length [Overall]: 80.00 in.
  • Length [Barrel]: 49.00 in.
  • Weight: 65.00 lb.
  • Magazine: 3-round box
  • Rate of Fire: N/A
  • Effective Range: 3,000 meters
  • Muzzle Velocity: 1,006 meters per second
  • Cost: $60,000

The UMP is not a standard-issue weapon in the Imperial Layartebian Military but it has found considerable use in Special Forces groups and law enforcement agencies. It offers a distinct advantage over the M43 Submachine Gun because it can fire both the .45ACP and .40SW rounds, which are both heavier and more powerful than the 9x19mm round of the M43. Equipped with a rail system, the M44 can mount a number of accessories as well as mount a suppressor.

M28 Rougecote
Image
Image
Image
From top to bottom: M28A1, M28A2, M28A3, M28A4, M28A5, M28A6, M28A7

[History]
The M28 Rougecote is the Layartebian designation of the Questerian FN Rougecote FGR (Firearm, General-issue Rifleman). Originally introduced in the 1940s in Questers, the Rougecote wasn't adopted by Layartebian soldiers until the late-1950s and, even then, it was never a standard issue rifle as the M14 held sway over it. However, the FGR was very popular amongst Special Forces and used by indigenous forces being supplied by Layarteb. Chambered to 7.62x51mm NATO, the Rougecote came in a multiude of variants and in 2004, it was rechambered for 6.8x51mm. Though it was never fully adopted by the military, it remains in limited use with Special Forces and law enforcement personnel in various jurisdictions of the Empire. The biggest and really only difference between the Layartebian and the Questerian version is that Layartebian variants used a semi-automatic/automatic trigger group versus the semi/burst on the Questerian versions.

[Variants]
All "A" models are chambered in 7.62x51mm while the "B" models are chambered in 6.8x51mm.

The M28A1 is the primary rifle.

The M28A2 is a specific modification by Special Forces to make the rifle shorter and more manueverable in CQB.

The M28A3 is a further modification of the A2/B2 making the rifle even shorter with a carbine barrel.

The M28A4 is a designation marskman variant.

The M28B5 was introduced in 2004 and is a modernized, rechambered A3.

The M28B6 is a modernized, rechambered A1.

The M28B7 is a modernized, rechambered A2.

M30 Assault Rifle / Carbine
Image

[History]
When the Layartebian military officially moved to 5.56x45mm from 7.62x51mm, they opted to go with the M16-family of rifles. However, by the mid-1970s, it became evident that the M16, although a shooter's dream, was flawed. Machined to precise tolerances, the rifle jammed frequently and required a lot of maintenance. In an experienced shooter's hands it could reach out to 550 meters easily and it was a beautiful weapon. However, in 1988, the M16 was pushed to the back burner for the M30 Assault Rifle, which took the M16 design and improved its direct impingement system. Eventually, the M30 was replaced by the M81. An attempt to adopt the M30 as a 6.8x51mm weapon were failures.

[Variants]
The M30A1 is the primary variant featuring the same 20-inch barrel as the M16.

The M30A2 is a carbine variant that features a longer barrel than the M4 Carbine.

Image

[History]
The M33 Revolver was adopted in response to an initiative to maintain a revolver in the Layartebian arsenal. After a rigorous design selection in 1997, the Smith & Wesson Model 686P was selected and adopted in three variants, each with a different barrel size. The M33 is not in standard service nor is it carried often. It has found some use in rural law enforcement communities though.

[Variants]

M79 Grenade Launcher
Image

[History]
The M79 was originally designed in the late-1950s as a single-shot grenade-launcher for combat troops. It saw widespread use during the Venezuelan War and was a favorite among reconnaissance and assault troops. Accurate and long-ranged, the M79 was ultimately replaced by the M203 in 1982, which was subsequently replaced by the M320 in 2006. However, neither the M203 or M320 have the range of the M79. Because of that reason, the M79 found limited use among paratroopers and special forces throughout the years. However, in mid-2011, the M79 was refurbished and put back into military service in a limited capacity with some minor improvements as the M79A2.

[Variants]
The M79A1 is the initial production variant.

The M79A2 is an improved M79A1 with a new sight and a fully fiberglass stock.

M25 Counter Defilade Target Engagement (CDTE) System
Image

[History]
The M25 CDTE was developed as an air-bursting grenade launcher to provide soldiers with the ability to adjust the grenade's detonating distance. It can destroy targets that are dug in or behind cover and it was adopted in 2010 after a year of combat testing. It fires the same 25 x 40mm grenade that the XM113 uses. The M25 has been demonstrated to be more effective than traditional grenade launchers because of its programmable air-bursting effect.

[Variants]
The M25A1 is the primary model in service.

[Specifications]

  • Status: In-Service [A1]
  • Caliber: 25x40mm grenade
  • Action: Gas-operated

M90 SCAR
Image

[History]
The FN SCAR or Special Operations Force (SOF) Combat Assault Rifle was designed originally to fulfill a non-Layartebian need. However, the superior accuracy and reliability of the weapon, as well as its favored status, caused the Ministry of Defense to look into possible use of the weapon with Layartebian Special Forces. However, the FN SCAR did not originally offer the 6.8x51mm LDC round that had become standard throughout the Empire and instead it was only offered in 5.56x45mm, 7.62x51mm, and 7.62x39mm. Modifications would be required to adopt the rifle and the result was the M90 weapons system. The M90 Weapons System covers five variants, making the SCAR one of the more versatile weapons in the Layartebian arsenal, second only to the M81 Assault Rifle, the Empire's standard assault rifle.

M60 Light Machine Gun
Image

[History]
The M60 Light Machine Gun was, for decades, Layarteb's primary light machine gun. Introduced in 1950, the M60, which was based on the FG42 and MG42, served well into the 1990s and it continues to serve on a very limited scale in special forces and other specialty units. With a respectable effective range and a rate of fire of approximately 500 - 650 rounds per minute, the belt-fed M60 is a reliable and venerable weapon that has shown itself to be very effective in combat, even in the jungles of Venezuela. Over the years, a number of improvements have been made to the weapon, improving on what design flaws it had.

[Variants]
The M60 was the initial version developed and introduced in 1950. It saw continuous service for almost three decades and it was eventually updated.

The M60B was a dedicated version for aircraft mounting but it was never adopted.

The M60C was a dedicated version for aircraft mounting that saw continuous use until the M60D.

The M60D was a dedicated mounted version for use on aircraft, boats, vehicles, and so on. It replaced the M60C entirely.

The M60E1 was an improved model that, like did not see major service. However, some of the updates were put into future models.

The M60E2 was a co-axial modification of the M60.

The M60E3 was an improved design fielded in 1977, just before the Layartebian Civil War broke out and as such its development was further delayed until 1981. It was lighter and offered some of the improvements that the M60E1 offered.

The M60E4 was developed in 1995 and it is the only version that can be found in any service anymore. It is modernized with many internal improvements designed to increase the reliability of the weapon. It is the most reliable version and it is still favored within SOF units.
