The Silence of Enlightenment (OOC; Epic; FT)

Okay, there's not a lot of details I can give out about the plot, so bear with me when it comes to questions and information.

Over the past two years, I have worked on a stupidly long storyline for the Rethast and the Pathogen. This story encompasses at least three 'slave' nations (Maekar, The Skrit, Machinarites), several worlds and, hopefully, a lot of other roleplayers working together for the common good. The entire plot is subdivided into three parts.

The Slaves
There are three different races being examined currently by the Pathogen for integration. Integration differs from typical infection in that the species involved becomes a part of the Rethast species rather than just mutating into it. This means that rather than just get eaten, any genetic traits and cultural quirks will survive. For example, if the Maekari get integrated, there will be a resultant Maekari strain, and they might have head tendrils instead of spines. Further, a ship type or two will emerge in Rethast fleets that will have distinctly Maekari traits in regards to appearance and design.

All three of these races have an equal starting chance to be integrated. How they interact with the galaxy will dictate who wins and who doesn't. The two which don't get integrated (there can only be one) will be exterminated. So will the one which is integrated, but their traits will be added to the Pathogen. None of these races know the Rethast are watching them and manipulating them, and realistically neither would anyone interacting with them. While these trials are going on, the second part of the roleplay will begin.

The Anarchy Strain
Now shit just starts flying everywhere. The Rethast will have infections sprouting up everywhere, but their fleets will remain largely inactive and hidden. Even their allies will risk coming under assault. As the pandemic continues, Leviathan and Valtiel will start looking for one Dr. Ezekiel Grath, a man who has been examining the Rethast and knows more about them than most people in the galaxy. This is where it starts to become clear that the Pathogen is (ironically) quite dangerously sick. Levi, Val and Zeke will all be trying to figure out why the Rethast aren't following their usual MO while Amon and the war fleet Ira suddenly unleashes a warpath into the Delta Alpha Quadrant. Simultaneously, Mammon and Avarice will start raiding trade routes, kidnapping people and generally causing trouble all over the place. It's the role of the other nations to both contain the pandemic, stopping Mammon and Amon in the process, and also help my three characters figure out what's going on.

Silence of Enlightenment
The final chapter.

With Dragomyr now recruited into the good guys, everyone in the party of heroes needs to develop the Suppressant to stop the Pathogen going berzerk and raping erbody. Cue a race across the galaxy, pursued by Rethast and mercs, to create the suppressant. That's pretty simple, and this Chapter should have the least number of threads in it.

I'll be RPing as Levi, Zeke, Val and Dragomyr, as well the assorted bad guys along the way. This is primarily a character plot, though certain combat roleplays involving armies and fleets may come into play, particularly in the 2nd Chapter. Now here's the clincher and why I'm so goram please with myself.

In every thread for every chapter, including the ones dealing with the Slave States, there will be "Turning Points". These could be big things (killing Amon before he eats that world) or small things (Not turning on Generator 2 instead of Generator 3), and all of them will swing the end result of the RP towards one of two endings. Silence and Enlightenment.

Each of these endings will result in the Pathogen and the Rethast ending up either slightly less bad (Enlightenment) or pants shittingly terrifying (Silence), and how you act in the storyline will swing the meter to one end of the spectrum or the other.

I'm making this thread a long time in advance of the actual start of these things, because it's a huge story I spent a long time working on all the possible routes it could take and how each action would effect the outcome. Hence, it's gonna need a lot of organisation to actually kick off, and I need to know who's interested before I start writing shit down.

For the record, a thread related to this plot has already started. Outbreak Case One to be exact, though this one's a tester and will have no impact on the end result. But it's still related.

I am interested. In particular I would 1. Be willing to have an outbreak on my planet, and 2. Be very interested in the work and pursuing Dr. Ezekiel Grath. Somehow I would like to come across his research or name, or some other way of finding out who he is and what he is working with. Since my current nation is a bit of a restart, but eventually will join TSAR (Most likely anyway. Be friends with them at the very least) I would not have directly come across the Pathogen yet, but have heard stories from those who I trade with.

As I nation I currently hail as an interstellar supercorporation. Upon coming across your Pathogen however I first would be interested in it as a potential addition to my living weapon project. Cue the Alien movie series here. I would have a deep space research base dedicated to creating an obedient living weapon. Your Pathogen would likely not be so obedient however leading to a takeover of the station, or simply a breech in security leading to an outbreak in one of my systems. Perhaps one on the population paradise of Aquarius. Either way I would involve myself.

I could also join in as one of the nations called to help (in addition to researching it) lending my vast quantity of PMCs under my nation that essentially are my army but behave just like any group of mercenaries. If I were to get even more personally involved however it might lead to me taking "drastic" measures to protect my population but more importantly my profits. Obviously a threat to my trading partners could negatively impact my exports and imports. A threat to my industry, labor force, etc. would all result in me taking measures to eliminate the risk. Given that it is all about profit, however, I would be flexible in my methods, though not beyond using weapons that would decimate all biological life on a planet to kill an infection if I could not be contained otherwise, and then send in salvage teams to get all the now abandoned industry. This could be really fun. Also I plan to join your outbreak thread, I just was busy the last couple weeks graduating High School and all. Would this fit into your plans?

If it would please the audience, I would like to partake in this. I don't have any RP experience with this nation, but I do have extensive RP experience with various FT Nations.

The nation that I am currently using on NS is a Far-Future version of our own Earth and Humanity (a bit with influences from Warhammer 40K, Aliens, Halo, ), Fusion Based Energy, Trans-Dimensional FTL, Projectile Based Weaponry, No Shield Technology (Besides Experemental Tech), No Plasma/Laser Based Weaponry (Besides Experemental Tech).

The Allied States of Terra's Federal Imperium stretches from the Home Planet of Ter (Earth) located in the Home System of Sul (Sol System), to about 15 light years in all direction claiming domain over 31 star systems (Not all of these star systems have habital planets, in fact the Imperium claims domain only over 9 habital planets), some with habital planets and flourishing States, while other's remain Outposts staffed with Military Forces and Resource Extracting Companies and those who could be alluded to 19th Century Settlers of Western America, the rugged Individual trying to make it. (This is all something I have been creating for five or so years, just have been waiting for the right time to bring it out.)

Now how does this all fit in with you?

Well, there are 31 star systems for this "Pathogen" to spread into and a Citizenry with no previous knowledge of what this even is attacking them. (For all they know my version of Humanity is the only thing in the Universe. There have been some Relics and left Technology found on various planets and planetoids, but that is all highly Classified of course and kept in strict confines by The Office of Intelligence.)

This, Dr. Ezekiel Grath trapped on the Consort Station can be safely extracted (with some casualties of course), and either evacuated back to one of my territories (perhaps followed by some sort of entity?), or he can be transported to co-ordinates of his choosing.

However this works out, I just want to provide even more enjoyment to you, and whoever else decides to join this Epic, or even read it.

Oh please, I mean no miscontent. You just have to understand, I have no idea what you actually are. From what I've gathered from how you describe your, I guess I would call it, "Entity" named Lafiël Ammakyn. To put it simply, the people within my civilization wouldn't even know what that is yet. Most of our sensor technology would just register that an Energy Spike, and either crash and fry if the spike was great enough, or just register it. Hell, for all I know right now the amount of energy you used to manifest yourself just irradiated the whole area. You might kill the boarding party before they even say a word. Or you could cause some sort of religious spark just by witnessing your presence, or hearing your voice. Order may have to be restored before we could continue, or mutiny could break out and enflame a religious fever. We just don't know quite yet.

We can find out though. But you must understand, The Dr. is still our priority. Since we wouldn't even understand that you in fact are an intelligent material being representing a xeno-civilization. All we know is he's there. We don't really know where "there" is, who he really is, and how the hell did he get there. But we are going to send a Yonkers Class Frigate, which is about 500m in length, her main armaments include a KE Cannon firing a 500ton HEAPDU Round at around 45kps, around 30x missile pods crammed with 30 missiles each fitted with a variety of warheads from High Explosive Armor Piercing rounds, to FLK Rounds, and 14x 50mm Multi-Angled Point Cannon with thousands of HE/FLK rounds. Inside the Frigate you will find, 60 Crewmen, 1x Marine Company of 110 men, 1x Squad of 12 FRST Troopers, 5x Stork Class Dropships, 2x Ostridge Class Heavy Dropships, 2x Lion MBTs, 2x Turtle MIAVs, 5x Puma LATVs (Various Variants).

However these men and women of the Federal Allied States change and fight is up to us. So what do you say?

I have had the unfortunate experience of being around 10 or so different nations within these forums over the last six years. The previous incarnation that had any substance on this forum was "Yukatania", a Galactic Federation of Free Alliances member and Regional Power in its own right. Yukatania, and the multitude of other nations have died out due to various factors. Moving from home to home, changing states, school and practice getting in the way, and just losing intrest. You know, real life crap.

But, though all of that I always kept writing and came up with this, my new nation/civilization/universe. I have just been tweaking it, and waiting for the right time to introduce it publically. I wanted this nation to have more depth that just a standard warring culture, and this story seems like a perfectly good deep arc to get myself involved in.

I can't see any RP experience as you said, but you present a well constructed argument for your involvement so I doubt you're going to suddenly be awful in an RP. <___<

Your involvement is up to you. A lot of people have already stated an interest in Consort involvement, and I have no problem with that. It just might make things ludicrously complicated and difficult to follow. That said, there are numerous other avenues for getting involved.

Hopefully (if I can get my act together) the Machinarites will be having their opening thread up by mid-week for others to get involved in.

Thank you, I try to make things as clear as possible when argueing for involvement within a story. That being said, I just wanted to clear things with you. Because I would hate to muddle and or ruin the story you have constructed just because I want to get my greedy self involved.

But as it stands, Dr.Ezekiel Grath is stranded on a Space Station with unknown amount of air and supplies left, he has broadcast his location and distress message on a FTL capable communication system, and the Entity known as Lafiël Ammakyn has yet to provide the Dr. with any means of escape and salvation.

My frigate Winter's Night could provide an avenue for the Dr's escape and salvation in this scary and dangerous Universe. Or, the men and women within Winter's Night could all die in a awesome and kickass way. Whatever moves the story along in whatever way you see fit.

But if there is another way that I can get involved within the story, please let me know.
