17 years ago, the Raysian Council gathered together to discuss the matter of interstellar policy, and came to the near-unanimous conclusion that they should be neutral and isolationist. The galaxy is, without a doubt, a very dangerous place, where one must watch their every step and dodge many bullets. The Raysian Militia, Raysian Government, and the majority of Capsule Corporation worlds, have backed this motion, and still do today. Too many conflicts of interest would arise, economically, if the Capsule Corporation did any more than keep to themselves and maintain the strict non-interference policy that they currently abide.
The Raysian government, state, and corporate leaders have always supported this non-interference policy.
However, recent events and discoveries, as well as political initiatives undertaken at a galactic scale, have caused the government to convene in a large conference this week to discuss national security.
A motion, passed earlier this week by the majority of votes in the Government, State, Capsule Corporation, and other major leaders across the Nation-World of Raysia, has called for a new investment in planetary defense.
Government President Sean Raysia, earlier today, opened a press conference today by saying that "the motion to increase Raysia's security calls for an expanded militia force. We are still opposed to the idea of a government-sponsored military, but we feel certain steps are necessary for planetary defense. The plan calls for a line of new system-defense battleships, and a network of orbital and high-altitude defensive weapons platforms." He continued to say that Raysia will maintain its stance of non-interference, but there are those "who would seek to interfere with us if we are deemed defenseless." The ships are to be rushed into service within 8 months, ships primarily designed and manufactured by the Advanced Defensive Aerospace Modifications group, known as AdamWorks.
In a very related event, AdamWorks recently broke off ties with the Capsule Corporation and Keflek VII, citing irreconcilable differences. They are currently in the process of relocating their plants and offices from Keflek VII back to Raysia. AdamWorks is pulling their support from the Keflekki Armed forces, and will be, over the next 6 months, reclaiming their ships from the Keflekki Military, and compensating with fine Capsule Corporation equipment.
Details will be released shortly about the Raysian Militia's new defense plans, but don't expect more than vague sketches until all designing, prototyping, and production has been completed. When the defense network and new ships are ready to be put online, they will be released to the Raysian public.
