Copa Rushmori V; Rosters, RP and Results

Hello, and welcome to Copa Rushmori V. The fifth edition of our little regional international football competition. This edition sees 25 teams from across Rushmore competing for the ultimate prize, a nice shiny trophy and to be immortalized forever on the Copa Rushmori wiki page.

The 25 teams have been split into 5 groups of 5 and each team will play one another once. The top 3 teams from each group and best 4th placed side will progress into a round of sixteen. The first game will be scorinated on Tuesday at 11pm GMT, and will be scorinated every other day thereon. Groups A-C will play in Pays de Horreur, while D and E will play in Palacios and Rodallega.

Pays de Horreur
Image

Stands shrouded in perpetual fog that rolls off the swamps, the majority of the architecture is undeniable Victorian and still stands after the British colonization of Pays de Horreur. It’s hot and humid in Pays de Horreur with an average temperature in the summer months of 28 degrees and despite the heat it rains quite regularly, which is nice considering the sweat you’ll build up.

The people aren’t just people here… with a demographic including lycanthropes, the living dead and the undead Pays de Horreur has an eclectic bunch of citizens, but don’t worry everybody is really nice… except the occasional evil genius or mad professor.

Venues.
Group A – Stade de Paon (cap. 15,000), Ambrose.
St. Christopher’s Stadium (cap. 18,000), Kassel County

Group B – Stade CS (cap. 20,000), Sleepy Hollow
Châteaux Rouge (cap. 19,500), Sleepy Hollow

Group C – Stade de Porcini (cap. 15,000) Sunnydale
Wolfenstein Sports Centre (cap. 20,000) Wolfenstein

Palacios and Rodallega
Image

Perhaps tropical paradise is a stretch, but it’s not much of one. Lot’s of Pocoans retire out here, not that what those freaks from Queer Poco el Mono Ara do is pertinent information. Soft white sand, palm trees, lapping blue waves and copious amounts of rum and gigantic cigars make it a great place to relax. But there won’t be time to relax for the ten teams stationed here, they’ll have to battle it out for a place in the knockout rounds in stifling heat with little respite from a desperately needed cooling breeze.

Palacios and Rodallega is quite poor and if you fancy some jerk chicken you’ll be able to get some from a street vendor for less than a dollar. Stick to the big cities, because away from them there’s nothing to see in the villages or shanty towns, unless you are a humanitarian.

Venues.
Group D – St. Phillip’s Park (cap. 13,000), Bleufontaine
Peter Francis Stadium (cap. 9,500), Cape Jaune

Group E – Allstars Stadium (cap. 12,000), Tingley
Alan Keys Stadium (cap. 8,500), Shrewshill

Coach

Francisco Martinez
Former national team boss of his native Starblaydia, renowned throughout Rushmore following his great successes as player and coach in Nethertopia.

Staff

Jésus Vazquez, Mario Quiñónez & Ernesto Fariás
A triumvirate of former internationals appointed to assist the new boss. Vazquez is a former midfield star currently on the coaching staff at Clube Comercial in Cafundéu. Fariás rattled in 65 goals for the national side, this is his first coaching appointment. Quiñónez is happily excused a trip to Pays de Horreur seeing as how he's in charge of the Under-21s at the DBC. Lucky sod.

Talent
Style Modifier = +1
Formation 4-2-3-1
.

GK: 1. José Antonio Leiva (25) – Alianza Jucaro
Big, imposing shot stopper who played a key part in his club side keeping the SuperLiga's meanest defence last season.

DR: 2. Óscar Martín (29) – Deportivo Soluca
Mister reliable at the back for Deportivo is hoping to bring that same consistency to the national side. Rarely crosses the halfway line for fear of nose bleeds.
DRC: 5. Víctor Monzón (33) – Ciudad Soluca
A rare survivor from the last Sargossa squad. Then he was a fresh faced young defender. Now 'Big Vic' is the experienced leader of the squad and the obvious choice for captain.
DLC: 6. Javi Aguilar (27) – Alianza Jucaro
Centreback with the silky ball skills of a Pocoan masseuse. Has plenty of pace which could be crucial when partnered with the aging Monzón.
DL: 3. Mariano Mansilla (24) – Sporting San Marquez
The boy from the barrios has made good and become a popular figure with the San Marquez faithful.

MC: 4. Lucas Cáceres (26) – El Nacional
There's nothing too showy about Lucas. He's happy to shield the back four all day long. Some might label him a one trick pony. El Nacional label him as vital.
MC: 8. Luís Ángel Landín (25) – Alianza Jucaro
Neat and tidy midfield player who's played a key part in Alianza's Copa Sargossa win last season. Looking forward to showing off his skills to the wider range in the next Unity League.

AMR: 7. Andrés Guerrón (22) – Ciudad Soluca
Right sided winger with pace that could put Olympic medallists to shame. If his delivery was as good he'd be world class.
AMC: 10. Léo Candia (29) – Sporting San Marquez
A mercurial talent with an unfortunate knack for picking up injuries. He sets the pace that makes Sporting tick. Can he do the same for the national side?
AML: 11. Fabián Vega (30) – Deportivo Soluca
Experienced wing wizard with a wand of a left foot. Made headlines back home when he crossed the Soluca divide, joining Deportivo from Ciudad.

FC: 9. Celso Esquivel (23) – Daroca Marinos
A penalty area predator who led the goalscoring charts last year despite turning out for the modest Marinos. The chances of him staying at the Estadio Bolero seem slim.

GK: 13. Raúl Navas (31) – Dunas Del Sol
DRC: 12. Miguel Bonilla (31) – El Nacional
DLC: 17. Raúl Salas (26) – Dínamo Maturín
MC: 15. Rubén Barrios (24) – Porto Alegro Azul
MRC: 16. Iván Albacar (30) – Alianza Jucaro
AMLC: 14. Rubén Cuéllar (25) – Ciudad Soluca
FC: 18. Héctor Riera (27) – Ciudad Soluca

Goalkeepers:

1- Roberto BENNEDETTO (Team: FC Mildrid)
Height: 6’4’’ - Weight: 193lbs – Age: 19 years old
Roberto Bennedetto is is the best goalkeeper in Erathore. No doubts about that. He surpassed Galigilygano as the best keeper of the modern day when he put on a flawless display in the 55th World Cup. During his young career, he has won the Seria-A golden glove twice and has won it in the King’s Cup. With so many years in front of him, we could possibly see Bennedetto become the best keeper in the world.
Rating: A+ - Team Relationship: A+ - Morale: A+ - Form: A+

Played WCs 54/55, CoHs 46/47
Caps: 56, Goals 0

12- Alessio Affonso GALIGILYGANO (Team: Juvillian Martinax)
Height: 6'2'' - Weight: 191lbs – Age: 29 years old
Galigilygano has been considered one of the greatest keepers to play in Erathore for the majority of his professional career. Lately that title has been taken from him and bestowed upon the young Roberto Bennedetto. Galigilygano does not care; he is far too professional for that. He missed out on the majority of the 55th World Cup do to him having sustained a serious injury but he looks set to play in this one, albeit as a sub. Galigilygano pulls off saves that he deems to be comfortable and not too risky, but if a more spectacular save is necessary he will not hesitate to perform it. Galigilygano is reluctant to challenge an enemy offender due to him having broken 3 ribs in his first professional game that saw him missing a few games.
Rating: A - Team Relationship: A - Morale: B - Form: A
Played WCs 54/55, CoHs 46/47
Caps: 41, Goals: 0

23-Atmosa PHERA (Team: Charzzan)
Height: 6'3'' – Weight: 199lbs – Age: 26 years old
If not for his fame and his looks, one may never notice Atmosa Phera. The quite, shy, and good mannered keeper prefers it that way. He is much the same in goal, never adopting the popular keeper stance, rather he stands with his hands by his sides, always never seeming to pay attention but almost always making the saves. He is widely considered the best penalty shot blocker in Erathore.
Rating: B - Team Relationship: A+ - Morale: B+ - Form: B
Played None
Caps: 0, Goals: 0

Defenders:

2- Ermanno GAVINO Amedo (Team: Arro)
Height: 5'8'' – Weight: 160lbs – Age: 28 years old
Gavino is a very skilled and talented player that has carried Arro from Seria-B into Seria-A on his back. He is wonderful at herding opposing forwards onto their weaker foot and pushing them away from goal. If the forward tries to make a break, Gavino uses his wonderful slide tackling skill to dispossess them.
Rating: A – Team Relationship: B – Morale: B – Form: A

Played WCs 54/55, CoHs 46/47
Caps: 75, Goals: 0

3- Fredrico MANLIO (Team: Manlio)
Height: 6' - Weight: 176 – Age: 22 years old
Fredrico Manlio is the great-grandson of Diauiditori Manlio, the great striker of Erathore and founder of the Manlio football club. However there are some on the team who resent him for his connection to Manlio. Despite the immense pressure that comes with this relationship, Fredrico performs very well, almost flawlessly.
Rating: A - Team Relationship: B - Morale: A - Form: A

Played WCs 54/55, CoHs 46/47
Caps: 74, Goals: 3

4- NERO Romo (Team: FC Mildrid)
Height: 5'8'' - Weight: 167 – Age: 23 years old
Nero has been trained to be a top footballer since his youth, participating in most of the youth high level club teams of the country. Even though he had the misfortune of always landing on a losing team during that age, as a professional he toke Elidoro FC into Seria-A before transferring to the Erathi powerhouse team FC Mildrid.
Rating: A - Team Relationship: B - Morale: A - Form: A

Played WCs 54/55, CoHs 46/47
Caps: 71, Goals: 0

5- Barino DINO (Team: FC Mildrid) - VICE-CAPTAIN
Height: 5'9'' - Weight: 166 - Age: 24 years old
Barino Dino is the best defender in Erathore as exemplified by him being named Defender of the Year in this past season and coming in 5th place for the same award two seasons ago. He is fast, strong, and plays to win. Hopes are high for him as he makes his international debut in this World Cup.
Rating: A - Team Relationship: A - Morale: A - Form: A

Played WCs 55, CoHs 47
Caps: 31, Goals: 2

15-Vanni DEL NARAN (Team: Charzzan)
Height: 5'7'' – Weight: 161 – Age: 21 years old
Since being placed on the national team, Naran has found that his domestic and international game have improved immensely. He has crisp passing, good heading, good standing tackles, good speed, just an all around good player.
Rating: A – Team Relationship: A – Morale: B – Form: A
Played WCs 54/55, CoHs 46/47
Caps: 40, Goals: 2

21- Mariano ALBERICO (Team: EMI FC)
Height: 6'3'' - Weight: 181 – Age: 27 years old
Alberico is not a clean footballer. Given his brief stint in the military, he likes to argue with officials and players from the other team. A lot. This has resulted in many a yellow and the occasional red. However he produces results so he is kept on the team. He plays hard and plays to win.
Rating: A - Team Relationship: A - Morale: B - Form: A
Played WCs 54/55, CoHs 46/47
Caps: 66, Goals: 0

Midfielders:

6- EMLIO Fredrico(Team: CR Submiria-Churchma)
Height: 170cm – Weight: 72kg – Age: 30 years old
Emlio is a player that loves to play the game. He trains everyday, wears his jersey around the house and has been known to sleep in it from time to time. As a player, he works as a second defensive midfielder, with more freedom to go to the attacks, mostly due to his ability in controlling the ball and making precise passes. His favored and most classic move is performing a backwards pass with his heel after catching the ball on a bounce.
Rating: B – Team Relationship: B – Morale: A – Form: B

Played WCs 54/55, CoHs 46/47
Caps: 79, Goals: 3

7- Alexio DEL NIERAN (Team: Dunboor FC-Cafundéu) -CAPTAIN
Height: 6'1'' – Weight: 165lbs – Age: 21 years old
Alexio is a quiet and respectful footballer. He enjoys training whilst listening to dubstep and classical music. He is equally adapt at offense and defense. He is always respectful to the referees, calmly and rationally arguing with them and if proven wrong he apologizes to, and then thanks the referee. He has been compared to an artist creating a masterpiece on the field and it is evident why. He is widely credited with being the most proficient at bending the ball in Erathore. This has caused many a keeper to scramble and fail to save his ball that curves first one way then another. He recently transferred to one of the best teams in the world, Dunboor FC, on a 3 year, $65 Million contract.
Rating: A+ – Team Relationship: A+ – Morale: A+ – Form: A+

Played WCs 54/55, CoHs 46/47
Caps: 89 (Record Holder), Goals: 73 (Record Holder)

8- NARAZO Del Pietro (Team: Drago de Celio)
Height: 5'7''– Weight: 163lbs – Age: 25 years old
Narazo Del Pietro is a player who can play both sides of the field, although he prefers to play on the right side. His passing has improved immensely and this results in a better game for him and the team. He is pretty good at distributing the ball, but his real strength comes from his slide tackles and his speed.
Rating: A – Team Relationship: A – Morale: B – Form: A

Played WCs 54/55, CoHs 46/47
Caps: 76, Goals: 13

9-Espen Úpaddol ROLODEL (Team: FC Mildrid) --Elf
Height: 6' - Weight: 153lbs - Age: 3246 years old
The first non-human player in Erathore, Rolodel has proved that you don't have to be human to be good at footy. In 47 appearences for FC Mildrid, he found net 37 times, earning him the golden boot and several other awards. He is looking to nab his first few caps and goals in this tournament. Rolodel blends speed, power, and skill together to form a weapon that he uses to deadly effect.
Rating: A - Team Relationship: A - Morale A - Form: A

None
Caps: 0, Goals: 0

11-Alessandro METTIS (Team: Reial Capital)
Height: 5'8'' - Weight: 161lbs - Age: 25 years old
Competing in his first international tournament, Alessandro Mettis looks set to make a splash. A big one. He assists as many goals as he scores and he scores tons of them. He possess' high stamina, speed, strength, and a good shot. His skill shot is approaching from the left flank and curling a precise lob into the far top corner of the goal. As a person and a teammate, he is very respectful and loves a good laugh, just like the vast majority of Erathi footballers.
Rating: A - Team Relationship: A - Morale: A - Form: A

Played None
Caps: 0, Goals: 0

16-FIORELLO Lupes (Team: Resolute Storm 1913-Polar Islandstates)
Height: 6'4'' – Weight: 181lba – Age: 27 years old
Fiorello likes to listen to heavy metal while training and likes to argue very loudly with referees. Despite his tall stature and aforementioned attributes, he has beautiful footwork with the ball. Weaving the ball above, around, and under the opponent. Throw a mean shot into that mix and the attitude to win and you get a potent combo.

17-Julio LANZIANO (Team: Nicostrato)
Height: 5'7'' - Weight: 159lbs - Age: 22 years old
Another player making his debut, Julio Lanizano is one of the premier midfielders in Erathore. He might be small but Julio makes up for it with speed, a sublime left foot, wonderful technical ability, and pure skill. He knows when to pass, when to carry the ball, and when to shoot. Despite numerous offers, Lanziano has admirably stuck with Nicostrato, although rumors are that he would like to move internationally. It will be interesting to see how this affects his play.

18- ANTONIO Casento (Team: Astria Yaburi)
Height: 5'11'' - Weight: 173lbs - Age: 23 years old
Antonio Casento almost singlehandedly delivered back to back promotions to Astria Yaburi and this has resulted in AY playing in Seria-A for the first time in their history. . He is widely praised for his sheer speed and skill throughout Erathore. Unfortunately for him, Mettis, Rolodel, and Del Nieran are all slightly better then him so he will not be starting. However, he will most likely be a commonly used substitute.

Forwards:

10- Gaspare MALVOLIO (Team: Juvillian Martinax)
Height: 5'8'' – Weight: 163lbs – Age: 26 years old
Malvolio is the fastest footballer in Erathore. When he was 13 years old he posted a 4.54 40-yd dash and has continually improved that to wear he runs a 2.56 on a bad day and a 2.14 on a good one. He has impressive dribbling skills to match that speed as well. He also has a massively powerful and fast shot that can go from ground to goal faster then the keepers reflexes.

13-Lucifer ANDREA (Vincanto)
Height: 6'2'' – Weight: 176lbs – Age: 26 years old
Lucifer is a jack of all trades, master of none. He is also damn good at those trades. He's fast, he's strong, he's good. What more must be said?

16-CESC Celestino (Team: Eldorado-Cafundéu)
Height: 5'7'' – Weight: 159lbs – Age: 18 years old
Cesc Celestino is a wonderful forward who, at the age of 18, has already been subject to a $21 Million deal to the best league in the world. With 6 goals in 5 U-21 games and 15 goals in 20 appearances for the senior team, Cesc is undoubtly the most accomplished player of his age. A product of the FC Mildrid Youth Academy and a promising striker FCM slipped him into the senior squad at age 17. He was named player of the week during his professional debut game against Drago de Celio. He finished the season with several awards and 38 appearances and 23 goals. This attracted the attention of Eldorado from Cafundéu, who signed him on a $23 million contract.

21-Marichristo AMURI (Team: Charzzan)
Height: 5'11'' - Weight: 163lbs - Age: 29 years old
Another newbie to the team and the international scene, Amuri is the classic target man/off the shoulder striker. He has incredible stamina and speed, as well as a deadly chip shot for one on one situations. He has good balance and strength too so defenders will have a hard time pushing him off the ball.

22- Michelangelo De MERICCI (Team: Directus FC-FSSO)
Height: 5'10'' – Weight: 168lbs – Age: 27 years old
Mericci is one of the most powerful shooters on the team. He is capable of ripping them past the keeper from 40yd out although he rarely does that in a game. He does not boast impressive dribbling and relies on passes from teammates to score. Recently his international playing form has taken a tremendous dive, which has resulted in him being put down as a sub/reserve. And yet he still performs exceptionally well domestically, having won several golden boots both in Erathore and in the FSSO.

He has been replaced by the least qualified guy we could find for the job. His name is Burt Baxter and he is a failure in life, so we aren't expecting much. He will be joined by Doctor Fruitystine of Mossulia and George the Gold digging goldfish. Along with these will be the director of football for this team which happens to be a programmed Avacado.

The Island Chronicle

The Future's Bright. The Future's Purple

Ernesto Reyes reports,

Finally, at a packed press conference in Soluca, the Football Federation of Sargossa, have revealed the identity of the nation's new national team coach. After months of speculation the identity of the new man had become the nation's worst kept secret but there was still that slight element of doubt. That was until FFS president Enrique Santana sat in front of the Sargossan media and confirmed the appointment of the delightfully Hispanic Francisco Martinez to the Corsairs dugout. The 66 year old, who allegedly beat off stiff competition from a suspiciously qualified Candelariasian aubergine, arrives following four world cup campaigns in charge of his native Starblaydia and although he never completely won over his compatriots he did earn their respect after arresting the Purple Peril's decline following Jaime Kuu's ill-fated spell in the big mauve chair. And two quarter final appearances alongside a win ratio percentage in the mid-sixties is pretty damn impressive.

Not that 'Cisco' needs to worry about his popularity here in Rushmore as he's still revered by all those that remember his domineering performances at the heart of the Tenderville United midfield in the CMSC. For such a natural leader on the pitch a move into coaching was inevitable and Martinez proved great players can make great coaches when he amazingly took unfancied Nethertopia to third place at World Cup 51.

Understandably the suits at the FFS feel they've pulled off something of a coup with the capture of Martinez who left the Starblaydia post by mutual consent after their last sixteen exit to hosts Aguazul at the last world cup. "It's a great appointment", FFS Director of Elite Football Gabriel Vizcarra said. "He knows football in Rushmore. He knows the youth game [having masterminded a Di Bradini Cup win with his homeland]. And he has extensive international experience. He ticks all the boxes." But such credentials come at a price, Martinez's four year deal reportedly making him the highest paid coach in the region.

And where better to start earning that wage than the cauldron of regional bickering, one-upmanship and name-calling that is the Copa Rushmori. Ah the Copa Rushmori, that golden opportunity to play third world nations you've barely heard of. Oh we love it, we do. That tarnished and devalued bauble that will always be in the shadow of that AOCAF those Atlantian types t'up North seem to enjoy. Our little Copa boasting such luminary winners as Isla Pilsen and Somewhereistonia will always be hard pushed when measured against a regional competition that has been lifted by giants of the world game like Hypocria and Lamoni. Despite the masterful Edgar Allen Poe parodies it occasionally produces. What it needs is a proper winner. And after five editions it might finally get one with a whole raft of talented nations springing up during Sargossa's sporting exile. The tournament itself is a massive crapshoot with the unholy trinity of Queer Poco el Mono Ara, Swartaz and Pasarga all drawn together in Group D while conceivably any of Group B could go all the way. As for the Corsairs, well Group A could be worse, although being forced to stay in Pays de Horreur makes it bad enough, but Cotdelapoms in particular should provide tough opposition.

Postby The Hidden Paw » Sun Jun 05, 2011 12:31 pm

Maybe time passes more slowly in 'The Hidden Paw' than it does in some other nations, but anyway they're sending exactly the same team that they sent to the previous Cup (and to the one before that, as well) but nobody in it looks any older now than they did then...

Nation: The Hidden Paw
Team nickname: 'The Great Hunt'

Manager: Harrubearr DeWhite (male Ursine, very light-brown fur, elderly, eloquent)

Team Doctor: Berrins ThunderBear (male Ursine, youngish adult, dark brown fur, wears heavy glasses and often wears a white 'lab' coat over his ordinary clothes, doesn't talk much)

Kits: 'Home' = all white (except Goalkeeper's, which is dark gray)
'Away' = all black (except Goalkeeper's, which is light gray)

Style modifier: balanced, essentially ±0 (although if the host is willing then this goes to +1 against any team whose style is -2.5 or lower / -1 against any team whose style is +2.5 or higher...)

Normal formation: 3-4-3

RP permissions: Anything that's reasonable or funny, but don't get too many of them red-carded at a time; however their doctor can "magically" fix most injuries almost immediately, and most other injuries before their next game... and two of the players, namely 'Sable' & 'Scarrlett', are basically indestructible to any hazards to which they're at all likely to be exposed in these circumstances anyway.

Yes, they're all Ursines, although unlike the teams from Bears Armed they're males rather than females. They're generally closer to the 'human' end of the anthropomorphism scale than most of BA's people, less massive but more agile than those, and --- except in any specific cases where I indicate otherwise -- have eyesight within the normal human range.
Also unlike the teams from BA, these players are quite likely to cheat if they think that there's something worthwhile to be gained by doing so and that they have a reasonable chance of getting away with it. To use an analogy based on the Harry Potter' books, if BA is 'Hufflepuffs' -- which I think would be a fairly common view abroad -- or even (at least by their own estimation) 'Gryffindors' then THP tends to be more... well... 'Slytherins'...
(Why a 'Harry Potter' analogy, you ask? Well, remember, this is one of the nations that managed to field a team for NS's first 'Quidditch World Cup': Don't worry, though, they have a strict "No wands inside sporting venues" rule for everybody except sports associations' officials and -- when playing -- Quidditch teams...)
(Of course, 'Slytherins' and their typical attitude to rules...)

Roster

Goalkeeper: #01 _ Pait'hurr Storm _ plays for 'SouthGate Stormcubs' _ dark brown fur, ambidextrous, big but fast on his feet too, can exhale strongly enough to blow the ball around and maybe even to blow opposing players off of their feet.

Defenders: #02 _ Berrjhill ThunderBear _ plays for 'Island Rangers', usual position = Left Back _ greyish-brown fur, left-pawed, twin brother of #04. (These twins have a strong rapport that helps them to work very well together).
#03 _ Darron Barkh _ plays for 'Imagerrie Ikons', usual position = Centre Back _ dark brown fur, left-pawed, big and strong but deceptively nimble too, the team's youngest player.
#04 _ Skorth ThunderBear _ plays for 'Island Rangers', usual position = Right Back _ greyish-brown fur, right-pawed, twin brother of #02. (These twins have a strong rapport that helps them to work very well together).

Midfielders:

#05 _ Anddurr Sable _ plays for 'Midsomer Mysteries', usual position = Defensive Left Midfielder, Team Captain _ ambidextrous, black fur, expressionless eyes, "indestructable", can not only project his voice right across the field but do so in such a way that only his intended target[s] here him, a very good player and a verrry good tactician.
#06 _ Derrak o FarWoods _ plays for 'FarWoods Rangers', usual position = Defensive Right Midfielder _ grayish-brown fur, right-pawed, in awe of (but dislikes) Andderr Sable.
#007 _ Jamz Bland _ plays for 'Multiversal Importers', usual position = Offensive Right Midfielder _ fur = light brown, right-pawed, good at getting to where his team's opponents don't want him to be, a playmaker and sometimes (usually when the opposition don't expect it) goal scorer, almost as good as he thinks he is _ off the pitch he dresses stylishly & expensively (just avoiding "flashily" too), enjoys good living and fast cars, and chases attractive females (Human as well as Ursine) who do tend to fall for him...
#404 _ Ethbahr Nevermore _ plays for 'Midsomer Mysteries', usually as Offensive Left Winger _ black fur, smaller than 'Sable' and a bit further from human than him as well, ambidextrous, he specialises in getting around the pitch without being noticed by the opposition (for example, to ensure that one of his colleagues isn't "offside" after all) and doesn't talk much.

Strikers:

#11 _ Bruettus Woaden _ plays for 'ChromaCity Champions', usual position = Left Forward _ dark brown fur with a "blue" tinge, right-pawed, big & strong, fairly fast but not quite as manoeuvrable (or as intelligent?) as some of his colleagues; [non-identical] twin of #12.
#12 _ Bruenno Woaden _ plays for 'ChromaCity Champions', usual position = Right Forward _ dark brown fur with a "blue" tinge, left-pawed, tbig & strong, fairly fast but not quite as manoeuvrable (or as intelligent?) as some of his colleagues; [non-identical] twin of #11.
#13 _ Gerray Scarrlett _ 'ChromaCity Champions', usual position = Centre Forward _ medium-brown fur with a reddish tinge, ambidextrous, a bit smaller than the twins but still quite large by human standards and surprisingly strong, fast and manoeuvrable and bright, "indestructible", good at inspiring the team (of which he is Deputy Captain...).
(A fairly common tactic, when Gerray kicks off, will be for him to take the ball down-field while the Woaden twins back him up -- in a sort-of 'wedge' formation -- to discourage any attempts at tackling him & to help recover the ball if he does lose it...)

MYTANNION - Copa Rushmori V Squad.

'Just can't seem to get enough of Hoops!'

Please remember when RPing that in Mytannion, the year is 1991 - and that the players are very determined and fiery, you go in hard on them though and win the ball fairly, they'll be fine with it. If you foul them and then don't acknowledge it, they'll get up and punch you. Quite simple really. So when RPing, you can include that. Also, remember that Mytanar fans are hooligans - at whatever level of football. They chant very, very loud and often cause trouble. They light-up flares often too. If you want to include that, go ahead and be my guest. Oh and we're also used to snow and ice too, as that is our own climate so if it is very hot, we could be in trouble, whereas colder conditions don't faze our players.

First XI.
1. Rudi Holzman (GK), aged 22, 1896 Ebor.
The young goalkeeper was the man who was at the helm of the 3rd-tightest defence in the Mytanar Takillega last season, he lead his club side to 2nd place as they narrowly missed out on the title. He is also the most-highest capped under-21 player ever. He's tall, has really quick reactions and makes some great saves. He has been prone to some flaps however when the ball is crossed into his area and he sometimes doesn't claim it as he should. He is an all-around nice guy though and is normally one of the ones that gets the atmosphere going inside the dressing room and is probably one of the 'fun' members in the team and has been known to play pranks on his fellow team-members.

2. Adrian Njulae (LB), aged 23, Cosmopolitan (Cotdelapoms).
The 23-year old has 66 caps for the national side and has won 1 Mytanar Takillega and 1 Trophie del Nakional in his career. His recent form for both the national side and (now relegated) SK Port Jarko rewarded him with a M(C)15 million move to Cotdelapomais giants; Cosmopolitan - who are the most successful side in Cotdelapomais football history. Njuale is a quick, attacking fullback who times his tackling well. His marking is decent but he isn't the best in the air and that has left him in a bit of trouble from time-to-time. He gets down the wing well however, and often whips balls in which are converted into goals. He takes free-kicks when they are from positions on the left, where the ball can be crossed in from.

3. Speic Fyfat (CB), aged 26, Atletico Jutense (Cafundeu).
A strong, strong centre-back. He's great in the air and times his tackles to precision. He has good anticipation too and seems to know where the ball will be a few seconds before it gets there, so his top class positioning and marking make him an asset to any team. He currently plays for Atletico Jutense in Cafundeu which shows the quality the player has. He possibly lacks a bit of pace but that apparently doesn't matter to national team coach, Theo Wekkler. Fyfat has been capped 66 times and has scored 2 goals, both of his goals being headers of course. He is a quiet player, who tries to stay away from the media spotlight and enjoy his privacy - although as he is in the national side; this probably doesn't happen as much as he likes.

4. Ricky Aier (CB), aged 30, Montreal (Cotdelapoms).
The oldest player on the current national side has recently completed a move from his home-town club Litala '93 to Cotdelapomais champions, Montreal. He is probably the weakest link in the first team of the national side. This is purely because he is the oldest defender and lacks the pace of his younger years, he is still as good in the air and still as good at tackling, but he has lost his pace and his concentration - which leads to him not marking players as tightly as he probably could. He is a good-guy too, who always leaves his door open to any youngsters who wish to ask him questions about this or that, mainly how to handle the media who - in Mytannion - are notoriously intrusive.

5. Swen Kislasson (RB), aged 23, Olympique du Fontvielle (Valladares). (3RD CAPTAIN).
The 23-year old helped his club side to the win of the King's Shield and is probably the best fullback that Mytannion has ever produced. He stays back and helps the defence and commands the team well. He is quick, and his long-range shooting is extraordinary - he is famed for blasting in 30+ yard free-kicks. He is extremely intelligent and can read the game before things have happened. He is strong and a good tackler meaning he is a near-perfect fullback. He could probably get forward better, but that isn't really his game.

6. Jan Mufiak (DM), aged 29, Royal Khaldoon (Queer Poco el Mono Ara). (CAPTAIN).
A strong defensive midfielder, he's very tough and good at breaking up the play. He is very determined and won't stop chasing the ball however far behind Mytannion are in a game, his influence is amazing too and he can change the way the team is playing just by shouting a bit of encouragment to his team-mates. He hates losing, and would do anything to win. He breaks up the play and then looks for the best pass and makes it near-enough every time. He can also make deep runs, arriving late into the box to head the ball into the net - and he does it regularly. He is has made 39 caps for Mytannion and has scored 2 goals. His good form for his country during the last World Cup rewarded him with a move to 10 times Una Serie/Pocoan League champions Royal Khaldoon for M(C)20 million; which is certainly a big fee for a player who is getting on a bit in his career.

7. Robin Hjik (CM), aged 22, Atletik Thessia. (VICE-CAPTAIN, PENALTY TAKER).
Probably the most important member of the national side by quite a bit. He is a complete midfielder and probably the best Mytanar player ever. He has played 69 games for Mytannion and has scored 12 goals. He has won 8 trophies in his short career (well, we say that, he has been in the Mytanar public spotlight for 6 years), at Atletik Thessia including 4 Mytanar Takillegas and one Rushmore Copa de Campeones. He has played 164 games for his club side, which is a record and has also scored 62 goals. He is a quick player, with a lot of pace. He is also very strong and tackles well, he can run all day as his stamina reserves are seemingly endless. He has pin-point passing and can pick people out from long-range. He also has a very powerful shot and often takes free-kicks because of this. He is a good mix of hard-work and graft and creativity and finesse. He is extremely influential and will probably be the next national team captain. He is the hero to millions of Mytanars and surely will go onto be the best Mytanar player ever.

8. Lenart Goricag (CM), aged 27, Decraa United.
Lenart Goricag is one of the most underrated players in Mytannion. He plays for a fairly good team in the domestic league, but he is their main man. He is a defensive central midfielder, who arrives late and volleys the ball in the net - sadly for his opponents, this happens a lot. He has made 29 appearances and has scored five goals, all five are either volleys or headers. He also has one red card, the only ever one a Mytanar player has received in international football. His tackling is occasionally mis-timed although it is normally perfect. What sets him aside from other players is his pin-point passing and timing, it is why he scores a lot of goals and also leads the assists charts. He guided them to the Trophie del Nakional this season and scored 15 goals last season. He has 65 caps for the national side and 8 international goals.

9. Radoslaw Famoc (ST), aged 26, Eldorado (Cafundeu).
His finishing and pace are a lethal combination, as proved by the fact that he is the top goalscorer for Mytannion in international fixtures. He has scored 23 goals in 59 games. He also plays for Eldorado and helped them to a cup win two seasons ago - in his first season in Cafundeu. He also has the 'award' for being the Mytanar player who has been bought for the largest transfer fee. He was bought by Eldorado two seasons ago for M(C)36 million. He is a real complete package, having the quality, speed and composure to score a lot of goals. The problem with him is that he is slightly big-headed, if he doesn't get the service he thinks his ability justifies, he goes out of the game and seems disinterested. He does have a few moments of single-handed magic whilst in this mood, but often doesn't help the team none when this happens.

10. Dimitry Alixysev (RW), aged 23, SC Lasft (Cafundeu).
He is an all-around star player, he is quick and has the skill to beat players down the wing. He is a very determined and hard-working player too and is known for his terrier-like work to win the ball back if he loses it. He's strong and influential and will be a huge part of this side. He is also familiar with many of the national team players, having played with Njulae, Mufiak and Famoc at his home-town club; SK Port Jarko. He is a hard-working, energetic winger and is versatile too, being able to play anywhere across the midfield. His good work at his home-town club over the past four seasons has been rewarded with a M(C)34 million move to SC Lasft, where the famous Babbage Islands midfielder, Tegan Nash used to play. Hopefully he can follow in her footsteps and have a long, illustrious career perhaps winning a World Cup with his nation.

11. Benoit Visoisse (LW), aged 19, Eldorado (Cafundeu).
An extremely versatile and creative player, pundits ran out of superlatives to describe Visoisse last season as he scored 19 goals from midfield. He also pushed Parr City to the Trophie del Nakional (the national cup), and was their player of the season. He is expected to be part of the side that at some point in the future will hopefully get out of the World Cup group stage, after we qualified for the first time this cycle. His shooting is accurate and powerful, he is quick, strong, he can dribble through defences like they aren't even there - he scores often from free-kicks, often from open play (he was the 7th highest goalscorer in the league and he's a midfielder). His pace is a huge weapon down the wing too and his crossing is good too, meaning he sets-up plenty too. His big-money move to Eldorado for M(C)28 million and he now teams up with national-side team-mate: Radoslaw Famoc.

Substitutes.
12. Juri Juric (GK), aged 25, Arro (Erathore).
A solid goalkeeper who has already made 9 caps for the national side. He jumped from the sinking SK Port Jarko to Arro in Erathore for a fee of M(C)14 million. He is a good solid keeper who tries not to take many risks and concentrates on getting the job done.

13. Sebastian Reindorf (LB/RB), aged 23, Bravia Motors (Swartaz).
He is expected to fill in for Kislasson when he moves across to replace Aier after he has retired. He is a quick fullback, and gets down the wing brilliantly. He is a very offensive fullback and is known for gut-busting runs down the wing. He pops up with the occasional goal because of this and gets a lot of assists. His tackling isn't the best, but he marks up well and is good in the air - which isn't all that normal for a fullback. He has been known for the occasional gaffe, but hopefully international experience will only improve him.

14. Fahe Mahuc (CB), aged 23 , Parr City.
A big money move for young Mahuc took him from Rotor. Argyres to the Moneybags of Parr City. The fee was around M(C) 12 million, and he has done brilliantly since he has moved to the Nastan side. He has the highest average tackles per game statistic of any player in any league in Mytannion and he is also extremely strong - and is good at holding onto the ball even when pressured. He guided them to a Trophie del Nakional win last season, and is a very strong defender.

15. Niek van der Smeejin (DM/CM), aged 23, Hastmead Diamante (Osarius).
Niek van der Smeejin is only 23 and yet is already a huge part of the national side. He is touted as a future national team captain and this is mainly because of his never-say-die attitude. He will not admit defeat and chases everything, even if it looks like it is a lost cause. He is a tough tackler, and is clever when he is on the ball - sprinting quickly and looking for good passes. He is a good crosser of the ball too and regularly runs out wide to dink a ball in, and can take good free-kicks. He has helped Hastmead Diamante to consecutive international spot finishes in recent years - he has 10 caps and 1 goal for the national side.

16. Filip Bosc (DM/CM), aged 24, Jan Mayen Islanders (Polar Islandstates).
Filip is a creative midfielder, who tends to play as a defensive midfielder. Theo Wekkler has picked him as a central midfielder. He plays deep and waits for the ball - he then spreads the play brilliantly. He is quite strong defensively too, he can break-up the play. He'd be prepared to play for any team abroad and he wants a chance to show his skills on a bigger stage. He signed for Jan Mayen Islanders two seasons ago, who play in Polar Islandstates - and was expected to help them to a title as one of their best players - he completed his goals and helped them lift the trophy last season and also won the Foreign Player of the Season award for his efforts.

17. Dmitri Lja (LW/ST), aged 26, Jan Mayen Islanders (Polar Islandstates).
He scored 16 goals for 1923 Esca last season and was possibly the only thing that so nearly kept them up. He has a lot of flair and is very creative, single-handedly dribbling his way through defences regularly. His finishing is brilliant and once he is through on goal, he usually scores. He has pace too and if a ball is played in over-the-top, he usually gets on the end of it. This success rewarded him with a M(C)24 million move to Jan Mayen Islanders in Polar Islandstates where he teamed up with Filip Bosc, his national side team-mate.

18. Miroslav Filo (ST), aged 28, Marinos Metropolis (Valladares).
Filo was a huge player for his old club side, Olympique du Fontvielle and won the Silver Boot when he was with them - but since he has moved to Marinos Metropolis for big money, his career has been riddled by injuries and has meant that he hasn't got as much playing time as he would have liked. He is a strong, athletic forward who can blast holes in defences with blistering, bustling runs. His finishing is calm and he has amazing composure. He has made 31 appearances for the international side and has scored 13 goals - but he is aging now and isn't the player he once was. Although he should be able to make some great performances late in games.

Reserves.
19. Hannes Urz (LB/CB/RB), aged 21, Atletik Thessia.
Urz plays at right-back for his club and he does a brilliant job there for Atletik. However, he is naturally a centre-back and that is where Theo Wekkler has chosen to position him. Urz is a new-breed of centre-back, he isn't strong, a good tackler and good in the air. He is all of them, and more. He can go forward and create play, he is quick and has very good finishing - which is a sign as to why he has six goals this season in eighteen appearances at club level from right-back. His inexperience could be a problem, but it isn't expected to be. He plays with a maturity that a player with ten-plus years on him may not have. He has already made 5 appearances for the national side even at his young age.

20. Leven Koc (LB/RB), aged 20, Hastmead Diamante (Osarius).
Was the next big-thing out of the Thessia '23 academy, after they produced Filip Bosc - Leven Koc, was spotted playing in the Zenit Toranj district of the city. He is short, which could be a problem - as he isn't all that strong, but he has beefed up a lot over the past few seasons and has got significantly stronger. He has now moved on to Hastmead Diamante in Osarius, where his national side team mate - Niek van der Smeejin plays. His pace and desire to win games are the two things which have helped him become such an important player to the national side and will probably make him important for his new club side.

21. Mirko Tasecchi (CM), aged 20, Atletik Thessia.
Tasecchi is the future of the national side, he is creativity personified basically as his passing is almost laser-guided and he seems to make everything out of nothing. He is also very hard-working and chases the ball; his tackling has greatly improved over the past two seasons. He pops up with excellent goals too, scoring 6 last season whilst getting 20 assists. He also helped Atletik to the Rushmore Copa de Campeones and Mytanar Takillega double last season. The lad from Thessia is a huge talent.

22. Imre Ulsson (RW/ST), aged 26, Sparta (Cotdelapoms).
A quick, tall striker. He uses his pace and strength to beat defenders although he isn't the best finisher. He has improved greatly since his younger years of causing trouble, dyed hair and partying. Ulsson is a real weapon, if he works on his finishing - he could well be a complete striker. His inter-play is top class and he can bring his team-mates into the game just with a little flick or a pass and this is why he is such a good player to have.

23. Jep Imago, (GK), aged 28, Ocean (Mossulia).
Imago is the goalkeeper for Mossulian side, Ocean. He currently has 18 caps for the national team and was a key player in the World Cup 53 run that nearly left the national side in the World Cup proper at the first attempt, finishing narrowly fourth (the gap between 2nd and 4th was a couple of points). He is a good keeper who is known for his diving saves.

Starting Line-Up
1. Holzman
5. Kislasson 4.Aier 3. Fyfat 2. Njulae
6. Mufiak
8. Goricag 7. Hjik
10. Alixysev 11. Visoisse
9. Famoc

Manager: Theo Wekkler, 57. He is the former manager of Atletik Thessia who are the most successful club in the history of Mytanar football. He resigned last season and now concentrates fully on the national side.

Assistant Manager: Uri Sacer, 50. The assistant manager is the one who does the scouting of players as Wekkler is managing his club side during the week. He also takes the majority of training sessions and is renowned for his no-nonsense approach - he makes the players work hard.

Attacking Coach: Lijenost Burton, 47. The famed amateur league striker, he scored 367 goals in 545 appearances in the Amateur League which was the top league before the introduction of the Mytanar Takillega (which is now the top-flight of Mytanar football). Is known to be quite lenient on his players, and focusses on keeping them fit for big games.

Midfield Coach: Danny Richardson, 63. He used to be coach of 1923 Esca, when they were the dominant force in the Amateur League. He was a midfielder when he played. He is known to wander off and drink copious amounts of alcohol rather than coach the players and leaves them to train themselves.

Defensive Coach: Alex Salmond, 58. He uses statistics to coach the defenders, working on the areas where the stats say they've been bad. He is usually visible on the sideline during games with a computer and a television screen - replaying pivotal moments to relay to the coach where mistakes have been made.

Goalkeeper Coach: Mirko Schettler, 43. The former goalkeeper for Miago City - when he was at the height of his career Miago were a force. He is fun and is known for strange training regimes that tend to work. 'Method in the madness' is the line he regularly gives reporters.

Fitness Coach: Lavdrim Yukov, 65. The former doctor, has some mad, mad methods - including repeatedly dropping buckets of freezing water over players heads and making them eat fried lizards to keep fitness. The players refuse, he simply says they won't win. This hasn't been proved either way yet.

Physio: Yohann Estev, 41. Possibly the most normal member of the team management, he does what is needed and does it by the book. If a player is unfit, he will advise the Manager not to pick him. A pretty standard physio, he isn't a miracle-worker.

Kits:
ImageImage
Home/Goalkeeper.

The Home kit is a celebratory kit of everything Rushmori, the colours of the kit are taken directly from the Rushmori flag and it is done in the Mytanar 'hooped' style to celebrate Mytanars participation in Rushmori competitions recently - it also saves money, because with colours like that! You don't need an away or third kit.

Cotdelapoms' 23 man squad for Copa Rushmori V will be an almost completely separate squad from the Cup of Harmony squad. Interim manager Thierry Luzier will coach the team for this tournament, although the rumour has it that Michel Carbonnier, long-time Cotdelapoms and Sparta captain will be the next player.

Image

Cotdelapoms will wear a brand new kit made just for this tournament by Mytanar company Mytastar. It features some nifty hoops!

GOALKEEPERS:
Maxime Lucas, Cosmopolitan
Romain Fredrikson, Worcester Hearts
Nicolas Painchaud, Étoile Rouge

DEFENDERS:
Jonathan Barrie, Worcester Hearts
Sandro Buono, Montréal
Noë Renault, Worcester Hearts
Alexandre Grainger, Cap Nordique
Dermot O'Brien, Montréal
Sev Alves, Sparta
Vittorio Testo, Sparta
Patrice Proulx, Saint-Urbain

MIDFIELDERS:
Iestyn Rhys-Lloyd, Pyramid, (Zarbli)
Alex Colorado, Atlético Central, (Cafundeú)
René Boisbriand, Nacional, (Valladares)
Ismaël Yarrez, Sparta
Pascal-Luc Brillant, Worcester Hearts
Gaëtan LaChance, Tout-Puissant Outremont
Christian, Cosmopolitan
Stefano Della Citta, Montréal

FORWARDS:
François Michalak Porto Lacruz (Cafundéu)
Jackson Diawara, FKM (K&P)
Godofredo Paixão, Metropolis Alligators, (Valladares)
Didier Matis, Cap Nordique

My opponent, if they RP first, may do the following:

Godmod injuries to my players Y
Hand out yellow cards to my players Y
Hand out red cards to my players Y (Cotdelapoms, whilst occasionally arrogant, does not get involved in foul play, so do not be liberal with this.)
Godmod other events Y

Style modifier: +3, after years of defensive play, Thierry Luzier is a very offensive coach. He will likely play a 3-5-2 rather than the 4-5-1 the team had been playing previously. Rhys-Lloyd and Brillant will both be more defensive midfielders. Rhys-Lloyd is the captain.

The Queer Poco el Mono Ara Copa Rushmori 5 Squad

Image

Coach – Mark Sloan – This will be Sloan’s second crack at the Copa Rushmori. After guiding The White’s to two successful World Cup qualifications he’s expecting a good showing from a team who were beaten finalists in the last Copa Rushmori.

Starters in bold

Goalkeepers

01. Aruna Traore – Has made the number one shirt his own and continues to shine.
02. Davi da Guia. His dad is from Cafundeu and his mum is half Pocoan half Sargossan. He stands 6ft 9 and has an enormous reach and starred for the Pocoan DBC squad that reached the final in DBC16.
03. James Ladbrooke. Cruzeira’s first team keeper. Quick off the mark, he has great reactions, but is prone of “rushes of blood to the head”.

Defence

01. (CB) (CB) Jeffrey Onyewu - Won the League I title with Belle-Isle he’s an enormous talent and a huge lad. The strapping centreback should eventually get his chance to shine as a starter.
02. (CB) Arsenio Jackson. Augustus have a habit of cultivating youth and Arsenio is another lad to emerge from their ranks. Broke into the first team after huge number of outgoings in the transfer market.
03. (RB) Phillip Sexton. The Augustus wingback and former DBC player is a superb right back and it’s about time he got his chance in the full squad.
04. (LB) Clancy Gibson. Pythons have so often bought youth, now they have a young lad who is coming through the ranks without having had to pay millions in exchange for his potential
05. (CB) Lucian Cramer – It all went a little quiet for Lucian after moving to Almondvale a couple of seasons ago. He’s a consistent performer and will be pleased to be included in the 23 after playing for the Whites at the World Cup.
06. (CB) Phil Ledger. Augustus. Is now a first team regular at a good Augustus side and is already a cup winner having lifted the Trofeo Royal.
07. (LB) Dwight Holt. Another graduate of Racing Cruzeira’s incredible academy. A tireless worker who has proven he will chase even the most lost of causes.
08. (RB) Lee Peltier. Won promotion with Garrincha last season and his performances across the back four for the League I champions has earned him his call up.

Midfield

01. (RM) Hugo Anderson - The one constant in this team and yet to turn 30. He’s fast, agile, and has a bag of tricks up his sleeve. Expect him to be more provider than goal scorer, unless it’s a freekick, he’s likely to shove his way to the front of the queue to take it. *Captain.
02. (DM) Hank Layfield – Made the switch to Cafundeu. Strong central midfielder who puts himself about. Big tackler, good passer. Reliable.
03. (AM) Jordi - Began his career as a right winger but shifted into the centre by club boss Adboulaye Soro. He has since flourished in the middle having the chance to exhibit come of his natural flair. He’ll be playing just behind the attackers and will be looking to have a go at goal himself.
04. (LM) Juliano Dias Marcal. The League I winger replaces Nakiti Shapiro on the left who is dropped to the bench. The sprightly winger will look to catapult himself back into the Una Serie with a good showing for the national team.
05. (LM) Nakiti Shapiro. He’s still the best left sided Pocoan currently playing, which is worrying as he’s getting on in years now.
06. (DM) Nunzio. The 28 year old dropped off the map after playing for the White’s under 21’s side, regularly turning out for a dismal Ridgemont Town side and being a beacon of light, he deserves much better and it’s about time he was in the full side.
07. (RM) Aydin Sukur. Continues to improve. The winger made a switch to Valengren and continues to impress. He’s quick and is remembered for scoring a decisive goal in the previous world cup.
08. (CM) Marlon Edawrds. The Royal Khaldoon and former QPeMA under 21’s midfielder continues to impress and must be lustfully eyeballing Hank Layfield’s position in the starting XI.

Attack

01.(CF) Vijay Kandakram – his sublime performances for club and country earned him a move to Cafundeu where he continues to score for fun. Will be a constant threat to defences everywhere.
02. (CF) Hakan Mendez. The Juvapanam striker is set to start up front after another positive season in Kagdazka and Pazhujebu.
03. (CF) Danny Cavanaugh. The little fella has pace to burn and will scare the more lumbering of centrebacks. Needs to work on his heading. Another member of the cup winning Augustus side who just keeps getting better.
04. (CF) Jed Wilson. With the competition coinciding with the Di Bradini Cup, Sloan was left scratching his head for a reserve attacker. Fortunately, Almondvale forward Jed Wilson was able to stand in and earn his first international call up.

I'll spare you all the "what a long, strange trip it's been" nonsense and get straight to the facts. My name is Didier Matis, and I am an 11 year Série A veteran who currently plays for Cap Nordique. I've been playing football professionally for my entire adult life, and yet I've never had the opportunity to play for this country that I love. I grew up on the south-east coast and always dreamt of playing football all around the world, and I've been lucky enough to have done that for Cap Nordique and my old club, Montréal. Yet, until I got the phone call from Thierry, I had worried I'd never achieve my real goal.

I'll be blogging about the tournament here as it happens, and expect lots of interesting reports as we have been assigned to play in Pays de Horreur, which, as the name implies, is not really the friendliest of places, and it also lacks many of the creature comforts at home. No worries, though, it will be a good team building experience, as I've never played with a lot of these guys, although I've been on the same team as Alexandre Grainger and Sandro Buono before.

THE MOVING ISLAND OF ISLA PILSEN RELEASES LIST OF PLAYERS

Isla Pilsen is the place where most of the Landau Institute refugees went when the Lowrni island, home of the Institute, was invaded by multiple factions fighting in the eternal war of Estresse Intenso, which is still underway. After defeating the army of sentient goats and supernatural beings led by Urizen in the island, these people claimed the place as their new home. But they couldn't know that the island had free will, and also the ability to travel to other dimensions, sending the people inside it to the most different places. This is the favourite leisure time of Isla Pilsen, the intelligent island. Right now, the people of Isla Pilsen are already used to the entity they live on, and have a fine relationship with it. Also, the doctors and professors are now well mixed with the natives and Dreamed Realm warriors. The Copa Rushmori title helped to unite everyone, and now the team seems to be even more prepared for this edition of the competition.

Recently, the sentient island has decided to pursuit new places to go, travelling like usual but reaching weirder places. In one of these trips, Isla Pilsen got into contact with the plane of Another Realm, another land theorically located in Rushmori but one that in reality travels in time and space just like Isla Pilsen. After several meetings between people from Isla Pilsen and Another Realm, it was discovered that Another Realm is in reality an afterlife plane, and all of its people are dead. At least they seem to have some capable football players, and they were seen as a great addition to the already diverse Isla Pilsen community.

As most of the citizens of Isla Pilsen have some relation with the Landau Institute, we end having seven kinds of players in the squad: the doctors/professors, which follow the same style of the ones in the Institute squad, old but techinical; the former patients, who were sane enough to leave the Institute but still have minor problems; the warriors, who fought for Landau Institute in the eternal war coming from the Dreamed Realm and are the most physically fit in the squad; the natives, who were already in Isla Pilsen when the Institute people arrived; the extra-dimensionals, who entered in the team during one of the dimension moves of the island, and ended stuck on Isla Pilsen, with the possibility of being usual people from other universes or some mythological beings, bringing this way the most curious members of the team and combining two kinds of players; and the afterlife beings, coming from Another Realm. With the combination of these styles, the team is expected to have an interesting line-up.

Style: 0

Here is the list of 23 players (number-name [origin, age]):

Use the BOLDED names of my players, but not in all capitals, when RPing

Goalkeepers:

1- Leo SCLERUS (warrior for the Institute, 31)
Goalkeeper of the team in the previous Copa Rushmori, Sclerus is a strong warrior and a specialist at defending, as he successfully defended the Landau Institute from many attacks during his years fighting in the eternal war.

12- SACI PERERÊ (from another dimension, n/a)
Mythological entity which arrived on Isla Pilsen during a native ritual, Pererê surprisingly makes excellent jumps even having only one leg. People say that this is due to his magical powers.

23- Adoniran PREDIZON (former patient and schizophrenic, 40)
Predizon is a talented goalkeeper, but was never ready to be a starter for a football club because of his condition. But, if the necessity arises, he can do a fine job if called, we hope.

Full-Backs:

2- Hugo PÉREZ (island native, 23)
Popular inside the island after his participation in the last Copa Rushmori, Pérez's best feature is his zig-zag move, his main characteristic in that winning team. His job is to move in a zig-zag trajectory to reach the attack, dribbling opponents if necessary.

6- Woody ALLEN (from another dimension, 75)
Another important member of the last Isla Pilsen squad, Woody Allen transformed that campaign in a movie. He loves to tell jokes to opponents during the games and also comment on his love experiences.

14- Wolfgang Amadeus MOZART (from Another Realm, 254)
A new arrival from Another Realm, Mozart will take the Copa Rushmori as an opportunity to display his musical talent, performing in front of the fans before each match.

16- Dino TARRAKH (former patient with memory problems, 18)
Youngest member of the squad, would surely be the best player of the team, but unfortunately he quickly forgets that he is playing a game, or even who his team mates are.

Defenders:

3- King SOLOMON (from Another Realm, 3000)
A true authority on the pitch, Solomon only isn't the team captain because he is a new arrival on the island. Guardian of the team's defence, has many people supporting him, but a huge amount of enemies too.

4- Gilson COBRA (professor in the gynaecology area, 56)
Professor only in title, Cobra does not give lessons anymore. He got tired with the lack of discipline of his students and now only gives assistance to the native women of Isla Pilsen. Is a very wise man, and his intelligence can be useful in creating moves.

13- Gisele BÜNDCHEN (from another dimension, 30)
If Gisele receives some playing time, it is because Boss thinks that the opponent players will lose concentration if they have to play against a beautiful woman. But she wants to prove that he also knows how to play good football, and will be always asking for chances.

22- Cyrus PORPHYROGENETE (warrior for the Institute, 62)
One of the leaders of the group of Institute warriors who came from the Dreamed Realm, the presence of Porphyrogenete will increase the motivation of the other warriors in the squad, but he probably won't play.

Defensive Midfielders:

5- Carlo SIDENIR (general practitioner, 34)
Probably the most versatile player of the team, Sidenir is also a versatile doctor, being able to do any medical duty. As a midfielder, he can play on both sides, as a defensive midfielder, or even in a more offensive position.

8- Mike TYSON (from another dimension, 44)
The guard dog of the squad, Tyson is the last man on the midfield, the one that the opponents have to beat in order to reach their attacking area. But he surely won't allow it if he is capable of: he can even be violent sometimes, being ferocious when attacking.

15- Sabrina Lemos MASSARI (former patient and psychotic, 27)
At first sight, no one would think that Massari was a Landau Institute patient. A pretty woman, intelligent and a theatre lover. But her psychotic tendencies transform her in a threat, and a duo with Tyson can transform the Isla Pilsen midfield in a killing machine.

20- Alex GAMARRA (island native, 35)
He opposed the creation of the Isla Pilsen National Team when it was first formed, due to his dislike of the Institute doctors, but now that the team has won a title he changed his mind. As he is a very good player, this change of opinion lead him to enter the squad.

Offensive Midfielders:

7- Eustathius BRYENNIUS (warrior for the Institute, 37)
Bryennius didn't take part in the battles of the Eternal War, he worked just on the backstage, thinking on strategies. He is very good at following orders and thinking of new ways to surprise the opponents, and will apply these abilities on the football pitch.

11- Elton JOHN (from another dimension, 63)
A leading star of the previous Copa Rushmori squad, Elton John is also the vice-captain of the team due to his powerful voice, that can reach his team mates like music. It is difficult to not notice him when he is around, but even more difficult to stop him when he attacks.

19- Diana Mendez SAFARI (neurologist, 29)
Daughter of Landau Institute football player, she has played football since her early years. Safari is right now one of the most promising names in the neurology field, but does not produce many reports on her studies.

21- Renata Fonseca ZANATA (otorhinolaryngologist, 53)
A very kind doctor, who loves to treat children, Zanata will treat everyone like children. During the match, can give candies to the opponents and talk to them like if they were babies.

Attackers:

9- Zoa AHANIA (from another dimension, n/a)
A former member of the Urizen army, one of the strongest factions of the Eternal War, Ahania was expelled from the group by its leader, and found shelter on Isla Pilsen. Very energic and smart, is probably the best player of the team, but will act as a support striker for Regueiro.

10- Pedro Castro REGUEIRO (island native and team captain, 25)
Captain of the team because he was the only one of the National Team creators who actually could play good football, Regueiro is excellent at dribbling and scoring, but simply cannot defend. Also, he is not a good team player.

17- Usain BOLT (from another dimension, 24)
Impressed all the Isla Pilsen habitants with his speed, and received this position on the NT. Is a sure name to enter during the second half, to easily defeat the opponent defenders by running, especially when they are tired.

18- THE GOAT (from Another Realm, 50)
As it is already known, sentient goats sent by the Daehanjeiguk army were the first beings involved in the Eternal War to step on Isla Pilsen. They were extinct by the combined efforts of natives and Institute warriors, but this greatly intelligent example of the species returned from Another Realm.

Coach: Mario BOSS (professor in the psychiatry area, 75)
Few people would be capable of uniting so many different people in a single team and making it work. Boss knows well how to use the players' abilities, even if these abilities are weird.

Assistant: CASPER the ghost (from another dimension/Another Realm, n/a)
Competing with Donald Duck for the position of assistant coach, the Isla Pilsen team was in need of someone who had more familiarity with the other dimensions and the Another Realm. Casper comes from both at the same time, so he was the perfect addition.

Formation (neutral 4-4-2):

------------------------------Sclerus------------------------------
-----Pérez-------------Cobra-----------Solomon-----------Allen-----
-------------------Sidenir----------------Tyson--------------------
----------John----------------------------------Bryennius----------
-------------------------Ahania-----Regueiro-----------------------

NATIONAL SQUAD:

Coach: Sol Kirkkegaard, 49
Sol Kirkkegaard is the finest tactical mind our nation has ever produced, and has pioneered the use of his formation, dubbed 'The Iceberg', in the national team. Has guided his teams to success without fail, and has a calm and cool exterior that does nothing to hint at what his calculative mind is thinking. He rarely flaps under pressure, and is well respected by fans, players, and press alike. He was the natural choice to lead our nation into the development of their first official international team, and carefully assessed the players through the exhibition A vs B and Road To The World Cup matches, the link to which can be found in my signature. Through this he has developed a key core of players to rely on, and should they get injured this may be challenged. Tasted success at the Burchadinger Cup, and has been buoyed by his side's performance in qualifying, which lead to a huge jump in the rankings. After a disappointing CoH campaign, is looking to shake things up a bit.

Assistant: Morten Yarbin, 64
The megaphone to Kirkkegaard's computer. The pair have worked together for coming up to twenty years, and in many cases Morten is able to start shouting a specific instruction onto the pitch with only a knowing glance from Sol. Loud, abrasive, fierce, and dogged, Morten is a master at motivating his players to do their best, walking the fine line between aggravating them and complementing them with a fine skill. Only one episode with a certain matriarchal figure from Johz during the Burchadinger Cup has tarnished this gritty image he has built up, and he will be sure to display his powerful leadership qualities from the technical area, loud and proud.

#1 - GK - Dmitri Karlsson - Age 32 - Yuzhny Equinox FC
Fast off his line, tall, powerful in the air and final line of the meanest defence in the Federation League, Karlsson is a true warrior on the pitch. An excellent communicator, his other strengths lie in his shot-stopping and his decision making, though his distribution can be found lacking at times. A reliable ever-present performer for the Terns, though the recent performances of Gammel show he is under pressure to perform in the Copa Rushmori.

#2 - DR - Sergey Makarov - Age 26
Makarov is a fast and athletic right-back. Frequently seen making direct attacking runs down the wing, he is a perfect player for the Iceberg's system. Long throws are a speciality, though his crossing isn't the best.

#3 - DC - Maarten Berg - Age 32 - SK Franz Josef City - VICE CAPTAIN
Berg is an experienced and wily opponent. Though no longer the fastest player on the pitch, his game-reading is second to none, and he always seems to be in the right place at the right time. Problems with his hamstring may accelerate his retirement, and his competition for a first team place is getting stronger.

#4 - DC - Niko Marek - Age 30 - Jan Mayen Islanders - NATIONAL CAPTAIN
Finally captained his side to the title they deserved, and lifted the Burchadinger Cup for his country. Niko is a born leader and will sacrifice his all to aid the cause, marshalling the players on his side to a stout and firm performance. Massively influential player, has played all but 79 minutes of the Terns' competitive matches so far and was a massively important player during the wins over Jeruselem, Starblaydia and Osarius.

#5 - DL - Steffan Pekarik - Age 27 - Urajbina (Kagdazka and Pazhujebu)
Equally at home on the right or the left side of defence, Steffan's sweet left boot has brought his influential wingplay to the attention of K&P side Urajbina as they push for a title. Finally scored his first goals for his country, a moment that meant so much to him.

#6 - MC - Petter Bielsen - Age 29 - Iturributa United (Astograth)
Recently moved to Astograth to gain some overseas experience, former Red Star Severny warhorse Bielsen is a true box to box battling midfielder with a fierce and powerful long shot. May see his game time limited more to serve the future purposes of the team rather than as a criticism of his own play.

#7 - AMC - Ole van Jendrisen - Age 27 - Atletik Thessia (Mytannion)
Attacking midfielder van Jendrisen is the key playmaker for the Terns, as his impressive assists tally indicates. Can influence players to move around the pitch seemingly at will to help carry out his plays, and can read a game better than almost anyone. Sol Kirkkegaard's man on the pitch, basically, with a sweet free kick.

#8 - MC - Teemu Hansen - Age 28 - SK Franz Josef City
Hansen has featured in almost every full international for the Terns, and is one of a key core of players that Kirkkegaard has built his team around. A solid all-rounder, his neat interplay passing is the link between defence and attack and he often plays an understated but essential role in the side.

#9 - ST - Timo Skye - Age 28 - Juvillian Martinax (Erathore)
The nation's leading goalscorer, there isn't much that can be said about the enigmatic Skye that hasn't already been said. A classic central striker, his unswerving accuracy and nimble off-ball movement has tormented defences around the world. His temper, ego, and opinions can often get him into trouble, but he is the first name on the team sheet every time. Since returning from injury, has been in lightning form, even during a disappointing CoH campaign.

#10 - ST - Patrick Ackermann-Finn - Age 26 - A.F.F. (Cafundéu)
Snapped up by league champions SK in a bid to cover the gap left by Skye's move to Erathore, and then lured away by the Cafudulese league shortly afterwards, Ackermann-Finn is a tall and wiry striker, excelling at holding up the ball for his strike partner, or heading in from tight angles.

#11 - DMC - Jorgen Hauge - Age 21 - Cross SC (Zarbli)
Fresh from captaining the under-21s at the DBC, Kirkkegaard has awarded a call-up to fearsomely talented defensive midfielder Hauge, who was snapped up by Duke League team Cross SC from Scapa Bay and is looking to advance his reputation globally. Fierce, athletic, hates losing, and will marshal a midfield as good as any other, impressively so for one so young.

#12 - GK - Lars Hegg Gammel - Age 24 - Saint-Urbain (Cotdelapoms)
Frustrated at a lack of first team chances at SK Franz Josef City, Gammel made the positive decision to jump abroad to our Rushmori friends in Cotdelapoms, where he was signed by a Celtic team that baffled critics and fans alike to slip to a dismal relegation in his first season. Widely appreciated though, he was snapped up by Saint-Urbain, and here will be first backup, replacing his one-time rival Andreasson in the squad.

#13 - GK - Mathias Marek - Age 26 - Jan Mayen Islanders
Younger brother of captain Niko, penalty shoot-out specialist Mathias was the hero of the Burchadinger Cup, coming on to both score and save penalties as a last minute substitution.

#14 - AMC - Luc Demarchelier - Age 24 - Parr City (Mytannion)
More of a driving attacking midfielder than playmaker van Jendrisen, Demarchelier and Golubev often found themselves appearing in spite of each other dependant on the aims of the match or the attacking strength of the opposition. An exciting prospect, and with a reshuffled midfield coming into the Cup, anything could happen for this young midfielder.

#15 - MC - Henning Tir - Age 25 - Decraa United (Mytannion)
Tir is one of a growing contingent of Polarian players in the Mytanar Takillega, recently a trophy winner there, and will be bursting at the seams to have the chance to prove himself. A dynamic player, his energy can sometimes get him into trouble.

#16 - MC - Pol Sundstrom - Age 26 - Miago City (Mytannion)
Coming in for the WC qualification campaign as something of a risk, Sundstrom excelled, and proved to all that the depth of talent in the nation's midfield pool is broad, and bursting with vitality. Makes the third midfielder representing the nation in Mytannion and will be looking to add to his burgeoning number of caps.

#17 - ST - Henning Blonqvist - Age 26 - East Franz Athletic
Although playing for fierce rival clubs whilst Skye was still in the Federation League, Blonqvist and Skye are an uncannily good strike partnership. Coming back from injury, and was given the Brotherhood Cup to prove himself for the Copa Rushmori. Kirkkegaard must be satisfied with his return to form, seeing him make an appearance here as he does.

#18 - ST - Alexsandr van Sorensen - Age 18 - Jan Mayen Islanders
Teenage prodigy Alexsandr is only 18, but played a vital role for Jan Mayen this season and in a league without Timo Skye was one of the top strikers in the league. Suffers from rare brain condition synaesthesia, but manages to not let this affect his attractive attacking play. Suffered badly with his mental health during the qualification campaign, but looks to have put the past behind him and moved onto better times, if stuck behind the regular partnership of Ackermann-Finn and Skye. Likes to link in from the midfield, something that Sol could well take advantage of here, playing in front of a three man midfield in training sessions. Could change a game in an instant, applying his explosive acceleration and going on mazy dribbles that often end in a shot from his sweet right boot.

#19 - DR - Petter Nikkel - Age 28 - SK Franz Josef City
Less athletic than starter Makarov, Nikkel's pace is still undeniably suited to Sol's masterplan. Fast and accurate with the tackle, he gives away precious little, often looking to strike with a long pass to set up counter-attacks. Amiable and well liked, the joker of the group.

#20 - DC - Sander Ljungberg - Age 21 - Jan Mayen Islanders
Vice-captain at the DBC, Ljunberg is looking to prove himself on a higher stage, and could well find that opportunity here amongst our Rushmori neighbours. With half an eye on replacing Berg as the long time SK defensive stalwart, Kirkkegaard has caught onto this young defender and offered him the chance to repeat this on the national scale.

#21 - DL - Pol de Huyer - Age 28 - Sainte-Catherine (Cotdelapoms)
Is equally at home on either flank, and is one part of the contingent coming from the Cotdelapoms league, his dynamic runs are often the start of exciting cross-field moves.

#22 - ST - Amadeus Irndtor - Age 22 - SK Franz Josef City
Falling into an unwanted limbo between being just too young to impose himself properly on the national team but too old for the DBC U-21s squad, Irndtor will also look to the departure of Ackermann-Finn after just one season to finally take his spot up front for SK. Fast, tall, and full of tricks, he will pose a serious threat from the bench if given the chance, as he did so impressively in the Brotherhood Cup.

#23 - DC - Anton McAllister - Age 27 - Resolute Storm 1913 FC
McAllister has been unable to hammer down a starting place on a regular basis, thanks to the partnership of Berg and Marek. His time will surely come, but for now this nimble and sometimes erratic defender will have time to perfect his gameplay before the chance to play regularly comes around.

Starting formation: 'The Iceberg', a narrow 4-3-1-2
----------------- Karlsson -----------------
- Makarov -- Berg - Marek -- Pekarik -
-- van Jendrisen -- Hauge -- Hansen --
-------------- van Sorensen --------------
--------- Skye -- Ackermann-Finn -------

OOC: Currently I am involved in three tournaments, the U-21 DBC, the Brotherhood Cup, and the Copa Rushmori. Obviously, IC, I couldn't sustain this level of parallel competitions, so I am ignoring the timeline and making good use of fluid time. Therefore, ICly, and regardless of my progress in any of the competitions, I am treating the Brotherhood Cup and the DBC as running parallel to each other, as squad warmups for the Copa Rushmori, which I'll RP as after the first two competitions. As such, player stats will not appear other than within each tournament independent of the others. Just something for you to consider when RPing against me. Ta.

Call me Ishmael.

Take a look at my plumage. Go on, look at it. Look at it's lovely herring-fuelled glossy sheen. Look at his neat and arranged it is. Look at the colours.

'What colours?' I hear you ask? Why, all the bright colours, of course! The mellow blues, the shining greens, the deep ruby reds, the golden yellows, the shine, the sparkle!

'I can only see white?' I hear you query? Well that can't be right! Surely all parrots are brightly coloured?

'Some sort of question involving parrots and the fact you're a tern' I struggle to hear over the deafening silence silence of apathy... your heart isn't really in this anymore is it? Okay, I'll get to the point. I was constructing some kind of story based on me wondering where all my brightly coloured feathers are because I feel like a parrot. Because I'm sick as a parrot. Sick as a parrot? Parrot? Bright feathers? No? Never mind.

Yes folks, now all attempts at interesting creative punditry has been abandoned, 'tis I, your faithful feathered friend. And I am sick as a parrot.

'Why?' you ask? Well, you didn't really but I'm just going to fill in the gaps for you from now on. Because of our group draw. Have you seen it? Have you seen it? Mytannion, Albundania, Saugeais, and bloody Erathore again. Del Nieran and I are practically on first name terms these days. Cannot believe we're playing them again. Seriously. Look at that group, just look at it. I know the form book tends to go out of the window for the Copa Rushmori, but this is our first one, and I was kindof hoping to have a good fly around these new stadiums. Chances of finishing in the top three of that group? About 50/50 I'd say. Anything could happen here with a bit of luck.

And then look at Group C... Ansernia Islands, Princess Béatrice Island, Virabia, Isla Pilsen, and Palacios and Rodallega. No offence to any of those teams there, because they'd all give us a game no doubt, but compare that lineup to our lineup. Group of death. Again. And bloody Del Nieran to boot.

*Skwarky sigh*

Well, if anyone is going to give us the best chance at progressing, its going to be Sol Kirkkegaard. Our results in tournaments may have dipped recently but Sol is still under no threat whatsoever. It's nice to see a nation so well behind their coach for a change. He's picked a strong squad. A host of the first teamers from the qualifying campaign are there, as are up and coming talents Hauge, Irndtor SKWARK (must learn to stop craw-ing after that guy's name, I have no idea why I keep doing it so often...), Ljungberg, Gammel, and an Alexsandr van Sorensen that has looked a reborn player since he started playing in a supporting striker's role from midfield.

But, oh, I don't know. I can't help but feel pessimistic about this one before its even started.

Alexio bloody Del bloody Nieran... I don't know.

*Skwarky shrug*

Saugeais drawn into tough group for Copa Rushmori

Benoit Howard sad it best when the draw come up: "The national team just can't get a break." Indeed, that is true; from the World Cup to the Cup of Harmony, now the Copa Rushmori draw has given the Knights a morale spike. They are placed in Group B, along with Mytannion, Polar Islandstates, Albundania, and Erathore. Each one of them perennial World Cup contenders, each one of them with their own ways to beat you. "We just have to take it one match at a time," says Howard. "I don't want my guys to feel dispair looking at the group. If anything, I see it as an opportunity to show the Rushmore region, and maybe the world, that Saugeais can hang with the powerhouses of football."

But with the recent track history of Saugeais to look at, this is going to prove more like climbing Mt. Everest with a sherpa on your back. To find any success in Saugeais football, you have to go all the way back to the 15th Di Bradini Cup to get any sort of accomplishment from any level of play. That Cup cycle, the U21 team, in their first international matches ever, took 4th place while defeating the likes of Unitopolis, Sargossa, and Pasarga before ultimately losing in stunning fashion to Osarius. But has transfering most of that roster into the World Cup team brought success to the Knights? No, it has not, and that's why after last cycle's World Cup, manager Howard instilled a roster shake up. Most of the original team was gone, save for the keeper Jenson Paulson, who, when asked about that fateful day, said,
"I was just praying to keep my job really. Coach Howard came up to us after the last qualifying match and said to us, 'I'm going to change the roster around. Some of you will stay, and some will go. I haven't decided yet.' That's the part that struck me the most odd. He hadn't decided yet. It's like he didn't know what he was doing. Then calls came around and the whole team was gone, save for me. The rest of the lineup was made up of recent U21 callups and Premiere Leaguers. I thought 'If coach is gonna do this, we're never gonna win anything.' But the one thing I have for coach Howard is that I respect his decisions. After all, he was the one who called my up after my time in the U21 team was up, so I should give these new guys a chance as well."

The Knights will face Albundaia first up in the group. Watch Saugeais, and entire Copa Rushmori teams, take on their competition on SNN Sports 1.

THE SOUTHSIDERS BLOG
All about Navel FC, the National Football Team...oh, and no Sharks

Transcontinental Trip Waiting for Islanders and Southsiders

So here we come. The fifth Copa Rushmori is going to be held in Pays de Horreur and Palacios and Rodallega after these two nations were chosen as hosts as the result of a voting process which also involved Whirl Islands and Virabia. I was looking forward to seeing a Copa Rushmori final at Portomar Field with lots of Southsiders in the stands, but there's always a next time I suppose...

Going into matter, Whirl Islands were drawn in Group D, along with Queer Poco el Mono Ara, Pasarga, Swartaz and Sirain. Yeah, this group sucks. And it sucks even more given the fact those five teams will have to kill each other in Palacios and Rodallega, a place located almost at the other side of the world (heh, I'm exaggerating, it's the other side of Rushmore) for us. We're already getting used to transcontinental trips since Navel FC began competing in Unity League, but heading thousands of miles east to Palacios and Rodallega would be totally different to travelling to places like Civil Citizenry or Sargossa, which are the most remote places you can travel if your team is a member of Unity League.

As for the national team, I still cannot believe that Jean-Claude Vermillion is still the NT coach. It seems WIFA are blind enough not to think that two or three World Cup campaigns in which the word "failure" was the most abundant one around the team are enough to sack a coach. His title in the very first edition of the Whirl Islands Premier League (R.I.P.) with Eastburg (yuck!) was a fluke and a coincidence. One single and pitiful title shouldn't be the ticket to get you to coach a National Team. Huge mistake. Period. And the team is still the same. No changes, Vermillion has his own people and maybe the Sharks also have their own interests in the team. No surprise why Nicholls has ALWAYS to be the star of the team.

Anyways, a huge contingent of Southsiders (including me) are now packing their bags and getting ready for an annoying and long trip from the far west of Rushmore to the far east of Rushmore, and that doesn't include the different stops between Whirl Islands and Palacios and Rodallega, because there aren't any direct commercial flights between those two nations. But we will be there for the Islanders' first match against Pasarga. I just hope the "jet-lag" effect doesn't affect our guys and we can start our participation with a win. A draw would be just decent but enough for us.

For Gerd var Schleeg, waking up was an immense accomplishment. While he praised the airline's ability to constantly fill him with tiny bottles of liquor for the flight to Pays de Horreur on WaaldAir. What he could deduce is that he had managed to get to his hotel, he was not romantically involved with anyone during his stupor and he probably ended up somewhere other than his hotel at some point. He'd have to keep this quiet, GrossierZeitung wouldn't be happy if they found out what he was up to.

Slowly coming to life he noticed the tea and coffee making facilities of his hotel room. Heaven, he thought.

He started wandering around picking up the pieces of paper strewn about. He had rosters for many teams, a press badge and a some names scribbled on paper. Must have gone to the press conference...drunk. He opened the Greater Cotswalds media guide and had a peek. Tommi Köhler got the manager job. Good. Classy man. Looks like he's using a 4-5-1. He looked at the kit, it's the classic for the Foxes:

Image

The starting keeper is Kalvin var der Leer. He's young and makes me feel old, he though sipping his tea. It burned his tongue. He breathed a bit and continued. The line up for defense was as follows:

LDF Markko var der Dooren
LCDF Hermann Jössi
RCDF Walter Rosch
RDF Kolin Briggs

They took out Kuipjiers and brought in Jössi. Going for youth then. He moved onto the midfield:

CDMF Jos Lloyd
LMF Erik Walters
CMF Ruud Endemann
RMF Kristoff Scholtens
AMF Tommi Köhler

At the front was:

ST Lars Verhaar

He glanced at the bench:

GK Sepp Kroll
DF Jan Schaalt
DF Matti Kollins
DF Pieter London
MF Gregor Bohlmann
MF Henri Rikks
MF Ari var der Stappen
ST Toni Koppens
ST Per Stuut

Gerhard dragged himself into the shower, cussing those tiny bottles of Vodka.

((OOC: This continues from PI and mine's CoH RP which did not see a conclusion... ENJOY!)

. . . My eyes opened. I tilted my head to the side and tried to gain a sense of my surroundings. They were bright and shapes blurred with one another. Last I could remember was that I was under in darkness under a pile of rocks, about to give up on living, gasping for air yet I was still alive, or perhaps not. Perhaps I had passed to the other side™. Was this what heaven, hell? I didn't know and I closed my eyes once more.

In the background, I could hear a voice with a thick Polarian accent exuberantly saying, "He's awake... He's awake"

I wondered who they were talking about but my thoughts were interrupted by a more familiar voice, "Really?"

"Yeah", replied the first voice, "I saw him open my eyes and turn his head away from the light. I tell ya it's not a fluke. You can go in and see him. I have to go get the nurses."

I then heard two steps of footsteps. The heavier set faded away while the second one got louder. Until then, it hadn't occurred to me that the person they were talking about was me because to be honest I didn't think that my awakening was all that big a deal. It couldn't have been more than a few hours since I lay trapped under the thick layer of rocks about to die.

"Inacayal, can you hear me", said the second more familiar voice. I tried to pin a voice to a name and face but I couldn't remember who it was. In response, I tried to speak but, the mask over my face prevented me from doing so. Instead, I nodded to show that I understood what he was saying. It was nothing more than a small nod as my body had no desire to move but he saw it and overreacted to the situation better than anyone ever could.

"He's awake", said the familiar voice, "He's really awake"

A bunch of footsteps came pattering over the the bedside. The person who had the first voice bent over to where my gaze was fixed. He had blonde hair and light skin. In other words the average Polarian. "Can you nod if you understand me?"

Once again I nodded in acknowledgment. The registered the nod, stood up and directed the nurses to check my vital signs. After a couple minutes of this, the doctor bent squatted back down so we were at face to face level.

"I bet your wondering what happened", said the doctor. I nodded as vigorously as I could, tiring my neck in the process.

"Well", the doctor spoke in a serious, almost stern voice, "You've been out for just around six months..."

I raised my eyebrows and jumped back as if to say "really". The doctor understood what I was trying to do and replied with some wit. "Trust me, I AM a doctor".

While the line is used way beyond the point where it's funny anymore, it brightened up the situation. I smiled and attempted to laugh but because of the pesky mask, no sound came out.

"Anyways on a more serious note", the doctor returned to his previous tone of voice, "When you were found, you were on deaths door step. Your pulse was barely detectable and your oxygen levels were dangerously low and you've sustained some brain damage. Your arms, ribs and legs were crushed under the weight of the stones. There was almost no chance for your survival but, we nonetheless rescued you. The fact that you were able to survive the flight here was miraculous, and the first night gave us even more hope. Still, due to the brain damage from the lack of oxygen, you were in a deep coma. Almost no one thought you would survive and we considered pulling the plug, but your friend, Noam is it? He insisted that you stay alive. He said that he knew the type of person that you are and that you'd find a way to pull through. The fact that you were able to gain consciousness again is simply remarkable."

"Are you sure that your supposed to tell that much to a patient who has just come out of a coma all of that information?", asked a voice behind me that I thought belonged to a nurse, "He may not even understand half of what you said."

While I was restricted to cunning usage of body language to communicate, I thought it appropriate that the doctor tell me all of that information sooner rather than later. The only thing I didn't get was, who was this Noam fellow. I didn't recall knowing any Noam's.

"I think you mean Choam", said the more familiar voice that I had heard earlier. Through my skills of deductive reasoning I figured this was the voice of Choam Nomsky.

"Err. Choam", the doctor hastily corrected himself.

"Doc", said Choam, "I have one question."

"Yes?", replied the doctor.

"When will Inacayal be able to be discharged?" asked Nomsky.

"That's hard to say. Due to the sevarity of what he's gone through, it's likely he'll need more days of bed monitoring.", I looked down. I was eagerly looking torwards leaving this place. After all I had been here for half a year, "After that he'll receive intense physical and mental therapy. He hasn't moved or thought much during six months and will need readjustment to the world around him. It'll be atleast two more weeks though, and even then it's not advised he goes to Sørøya. You guys have limited medical resources down there and we're the only facility on all three islands that offer the services he needs"

"Aah" said Choam. I sighed to my self. I was rather eager to leave this place and see what Sørøya turned out to be like. To see what all of those meetings produced yet, I would have to wait perhaps another month before I could return down there. Still, I've waited six months so I'm sure a a few more weeks would not be a big deal.

After crashing out of the World Cup in a play off against Starblaydia, Queer Poco el Mono Ara are heading into the Copa Rushmori looking to brush off their nearly-rans tag and go all the way.

Before making the journey to the islands of Palacios and Rodallega, Mark Sloan’s men took on the unknown Rushmori quantities of Dansak Minor and Lua Vamoa in some pre-tourney friendlies

For those of you who don’t know, Dansak Minor share a boarder with Queer Poco el Mono Ara and were once part of the ancient empire of Al Ittijab (ancient QPeMA) their domestic football league is almost non-existent and their most famous footballing export is attacker Pierre Bassong who plays up front for Una Serie side Racing Cruzeira. The national team are managed by Idriss Bagayoko and have yet to play a competitive match. The friendly game against their top 20 ranked neighbours was the biggest in their history and, was as expected, a humbling defeat at the Estadio de Victoria.

The Whites romped to a 4-0 victory in front of an expectant crowd, hitting three before the half time break. Juvapanam striker Hakan Mendez opened the scoring with a tap in after 22 minutes, 2 of which the visitors dominated directly after the kick off. A further 7 minutes down the time line and The Whites were 2 up with Marlon Edwards rifling in a long distance thunderbolt. 70 seconds before the half time break, Mendez found a second, racing to the back post to meet a Jordi cross to loop a header back over the Dansak keeper and to put QPeMA comfortably up.

With an insurmountable lead, Mark Sloan rang in the changes and made 6 substitutions. The changes to the personnel altered the dynamic of the game and QPeMA’s second string side trotted towards the finish line, but not before Jed Wilson, making his debut for the Pocoan side rounded off the night with a late tap in, benefiting from a ricochet off the Dansak keeper which hit him on the shin and found its way into the net.

The White’s second warm up game was against the tiny island nation side of Lua Vamoa who are not renowned for their footballing prowess. Their top club, Go Sushi Apo’olo is owned by Pocoan sushi restaurant owner Yamada Kobayashi and plays in the East Rushmore Premier League. Like the players who travelled from Dansak Minor, this was the Vamoan national team’s first ever match.

Perhaps with their marginally superior footballing history in comparison to Dansak Minor, it was expected the Vamoan side would pose a tougher contest for the Whites, but their hopes of snatching a historic victory were dashed as the Pocoan first team set about their business dominating every inch of the pitch against their weaker opposition.

The show was stolen by Vijay Kandakram who scored four of the five Pocoan goals, three of which were with his head from set plays, as The Whites exploited the Vamoan’s poor organizational skills when defending corners and freekicks. The fifth was scored by the captain, Hugo Anderson from the penalty spot as the Pocoan’s thrashed their warm up opposition.

Speaking after the game, manager Mark Sloan commented “The friendlies have been a great opportunity for the players to bond. With the spread all across the multi-verse sometimes it takes a while for them to form a cohesive team, hopefully these two games have served their purpose and when we go into the first game against Sirain we will be prepared.”

The team captain, Hugo Anderson added “Despite the scorelines, these weren’t easy games. We’ve had to sweat to keep the ball and this is the first time the front two have played together, fortunately they’re great players and just seem to have clicked.”

Palacios and Rodallega
Copa Rushmori 5 Squad

Coach – Thomas Lugano. Palatian coach will lead the “Tropical Storm” team in their second international competition, returning after their average showing in the third Copa Rushmori. His yearly salary is equivalent to some of the Una Serie’s top earners weekly wages. His experience is a little thin, but he’s passionate about his country and about football.

The aging squad are exactly the same as those who appeared at the third Copa Rushmori, but at least now their league teams have a little competition having joined the joint East Rushmore Premier League with Pays de Horreur (who are once again absent from the Copa Rushmori) and the tiny footballing minnows of Lua Vamoa. The team really should have been jostled with, but... ya know... sometimes it's just easier to have them age until it's inconceivable that they would still be playing international football... besides which, it's hardly the World Cup.

Starting XI

1. Shaka George. 36 (St. Clementine F.C.) [Goalkeeper] Plays in the completely unknown Palatian league. His a little short, but agile. He’s renowned across the country for being a superb penalty stopper.

2. Brent Adis. 35. (Bleufontaine Pirates) [Rightback] He’s a good tackler, like’s to get forward and help attack, has a decent cross but lacks pace and may be caught out if he ventures too far forward.
3. Atiba Kisnorbo. 33. (Cape Jaune Tornados) [Leftback] The youngest player amongst the defence, he’s not naturally left footed but plays there for club and country. He doesn’t go roaming forward much as he needs to cut back inside. Likely to hang back and defend.
5. Lucas Marley. 39. (W. Palacios Centurions) [Centreback] Captain* Marley is a cool head on old shoulders. He has years of experience in the local league and will be looked upon to guide his team mates on the biggest stage they’ve found themselves on.
6. Leon West. 36. (St. Clementine F.C.) [Centreback] A strong determined man who will throw himself in front of any shot and tackle any man he can. A rock at the back he rarely puts a foot wrong.

4. Carlton Ba. 37. (St. Clementine F.C.) [Central Midfield] Ba is a essentially a holding player. He wont join in attacks unless he’s needed and will just hang back making necessary challenges and playing decisive passes.
7. Maxwell Gray. 30. (W. Rodallega Centurions) [Right wing] Blistering pace, thunderous shot, just lacks consistency when crossing the ball. He also has a tendency to end up in the referee’s book unnecessarily.
8. Damian Whitley. 35. (St. Clementine F.C.) [Central Midfield] Damian is a good passer of the ball and not afraid to shoot. He’s in the last year of his contract and may soon be set to retire.
11. Colin Latapy. 36. (Cape Jaune Tornados) [Left wing] One of few natural left footers on the islands, he is a dead ball specialist and likely to take all P+R’s corners and freekicks. His natural pace is now fading so he needs to rely on his crossing ability.

9. Exodus Jones. 28. (W. Rodallega Centurions) [Forward] Palacios and Rodallega’s most gifted player. A born goal scorer who’s being targeted by Una Serie champs Pythons. Could be a big time player if he moves off the islands.
10. Dwight Eliot. 38. (unattached) [Support Striker] He’s getting on in years now, but is in the team for his experience. Used to score goals for fun, now he reads the game and feeds his partner. Probably wont play a full 90 minutes.

Subs.

12. Joshua Edwards. 33. (St. Clementine F.C.) [Rightback]
13. Clyde Williams 44. (Cape Jaune Tornados) [Goalkeeper]
14. Anderson Goode 25. (Kobryń Cobras SOM) [Centreback]
15. Jethro Cupid 30. (W. Palacios Centurions) [Centreback]
16. Felix Burgess 26. (unattached) [Central Midfield]
17. Wilson Edwards 24. (unattached) [Right Wing]
18. Devon Cummings 35. (St. Clementine F.C.) [Central Midfield]
19. Suni Stewart. 34. (Mount Deschamps Red Diamonds) [Left Back]
20. Ezekiel Eden 26. (unattached) [Left Wing]
21. Sherlon Theobold 27. (W. Rodallega Centurions) [Striker]
22. Donovan Williams. 37. (Bleufontaine Pirates) [Striker]
23. Jesse Fletcher 23. (Unattached) [Goalkeeper]
