WARZONE AIRSPACE - Your Fight for Earth!

Image

It is the Mid-21st Century. Civilisation as we know it is gone. The arrogance of man towards extraterrestrials was repaid by The Great Devastation as cities perished, nuclear winter fell and the seas rose to swallow up the lands. The six territories of Earth were overrun and scorched by the alien hordes, while survivors turned against each other for scraps. However a small group of idealists escaped to Space Station Airspace, man's last stronghold, with an ambitious plan: Reunite the world and restore man's glory once again.

Welcome to the Warzone Airspace. We are a combined roleplay/gameplay region centred around the Warzones, one of six game created regions, with special rules catered for the raiding/defending region invasion game. To create a more immersive experience, we are also involved in roleplay, based on Earth (The Warzones, most of which are named after Earth continents) being taken over by alien invaders, and merged it to our invasion gameplay, such that what happens in the Warzones influences our story and vice versa.

Our ultimate goal is to take over all the Warzones on behalf of man, (those who make the Warzones their home), liberating Earth from alien invaders (those who took a Warzone in the name of another region).

Stand up for humanity! Join Warzone Airspace

Oh, I always wondered why it was called that. (Never cared enough to ask, though.)

The Warzone Game - December Issue, brought to you by Warzone Airspace

New Government in Warzone Airspace established. Aims to build a permanent community. Population swells to 60+ nations

A month has passed since the new government of Warzone Airspacee lead by Warzone Codger was formed. In his opening address Codger outlined his goals to form a permanent community for the region and to revive the Warzone Game, which had long been abandoned as failed experiments by the Gods (Mods).

The region now boasts the following achievements.

A population of 60+ nations, currently 79 at last count.
An active community who participates in roleplay, gameplay or just having a fun time chatting.
Passed a World Assembly Resolution - GA #121 Medical Facilities Protection.
Embassies/relations established with Crusaders of Justice, The Rejected Realms and 10000 Islands (Informally - their members were the first supporters of Warzone Airspace, formal embassy application pending)
Our flag was raised in 5 of 6 Warzones (See below).

Aces of Airspace claim 5 of 6 Warzones in grand opening statement. Skirmishes with One Big Island

Aces of Airspace, the military arm of Warzone Airspace makes its grand entrance with with a bold statement, its first mission a success claiming 5 of 6 Warzones. Our valiant pilots from nations Sylarus Prime, Jahodi, Bravo Whiskey, Pluto Nash and Wolverania flew out and quickly took superiority, where paratroopers were then dropped at Delegate's HQ to raise our flag and claim the region for Airspace. The remaining region, Warzone Australia was untouched as it was an army base for the empire of Trav Khar whom we have cordial relations with and do not wish to disturb at this time.

However such actions also attract much attention and Airspace now meets its first significant challenge in the regime of One Big Island, which has challenged Airspace's dominion over the Warzones. Led by Herr WaffenBrightonburg, they first tried to take Warzone Europe while we are having our victory celebrations, but vigilantly we arrived in time to stop the advance. (The region is now home to another Warzone community, began by Johz). The unfortunately same could not be for Warzone Asia though, which they have taken and now remains under siege...

(Plug: If you want to help out, join Warzone Airspace and be part of our military as an Airspace Ace! We always welcome new nations. If you are a old raider/defender and we looking for something new, we could really use an experienced military commander as well...)

Hopefully this is a beginning of reborn and vibrant Warzone Game. That's it for this issue and we wish everyone a Merry Christmas and New Year!

Warzone Regions Report - May Issue, brought to you by Warzone Airspace

Warzone Airspace

A bold new era: Warren Codge II ascends as the Warzone Codger and Czar of Airspace

Warren Codge, the original Warzone Codger and founder of the Airspace Assembly government passed away in late February after a coma from an rumoured illness contracted while on a expedition to Hong Kong. (I went to Hong Kong and left the game for a while) While his passing was not unexpected, members of the region were hoping to the last day that he will return and resume command. When the news came, the region was plunged into grief and shock. In the chaos and vulnerable to enemies, the region dwindled from its peak of 83 nations down to a remaining 30.

All was not destroyed however, as the Vizier (Delegate) Zandalore and core Elder nations (Riowood, Bangners and Mash, Opsys, Sylarus Prime, Pluto Nash, Madramar and Libretepaix) stepped up to fill the void and formed a stable government. Airspace salutes you for your efforts in its time of crisis.

In early May, Warren Codge's young son, Warren Codge II came of age to resume the title of Warzone Codger and was subsequently elected as Czar of Airspace. With renewed vigour Airspace presents the following achievements.

Airspace Achievements

  • Regional population at 58 nations, from 30s at the beginning of the month.
  • Revival of role playing activities. There are two types of roleplays being run.
    - Traditional free form role play as surviving nations in a Warzone. The current story is about rebelling provinces and a assassination plot
    - A 'community nation' (The Airspace Capital) where daily issues are role played and answered by the region to see what sort of nation we get.
  • Our military wing, Aces of Airspace relaunched and captured Warzone Europe and Sandbox.
  • Relations formed/renewed and embassies established showing Airspace is re-engaging with the world.

This is only the beginning. The revival continues. Airspace Rises!

Around the Warzones

Major news around the Warzones.

Drugged Monkeys becomes longest delegate of Warzone Australia. The Phantom Knights capture Warzone Australia from Trav Khar!

Drugged Monkeys from Trav Khar recently became the longest serving delegate of Warzone Australia. It was an admirable achievement and highlights Trav Khar's commitment to the region, which is used an army camp for their defender activities. Unfortunately the was glory was short lived as their long term rivals The Phantom Knights suddenly took Warzone Australia during the celebrations. The two groups have a continuing feud, with the Knights previously attempted to take Warzone Australia in a series of raids last November and since further skirmishes in neighbouring Warzone Asia.

In the spirit of good sportsmanship and respect for their opponents though, embassies and flags are left untouched after the capture and The Phantom Knights left after a few days. Bruised but pride intact we wait with anticipation what happens next in the saga.

The Madness of Warzone Asia

A curse seems to have fallen Warzone Asia this month with the main occupier, Kami no Chikara seemingly suffering bouts of mental instability. Kami no Chikara, an Asian themed region, took Warzone Asia early in the month with the stated intention of developing it for the long term. Things are looking optimistic initially, with an active RMB, nations speaking up and forming relations with neighbours, but one day suddenly without reason, the delegate decided to eject the whole region ending the fledging project with a few clicks.

Not only that, but it appears the madness then spread to their home region with the founder Algrina deciding shortly later to shut down Kami no Chikara itself for good. This all happened in a few days, a truly bizarre situation.

Bored politicians take Warzone Africa

The United States of Europe had some government changes recently, and the politicians were bored. Now do politicians do when they are bored? Go to war and take a Warzone of course! At least that was what one nation told me when they took Warzone Africa. If that what it takes to get more activity to the Warzones, then we welcome more bored politicians. :)

Airspace Statement on the recent aggression in the Warzones

Recent months have seen the revival of activity in the Warzones. From sleepy abodes which the world forgot, they have now become contested strongholds with all six Warzones held by five different regions. While Warzone Airspace, as the first free independent Warzone community is encouraged by these events, we express our disapproval at the disrespectful behaviour by some of it's recent occupants, notably the Global Alliance.

Warzone Airspace was founded on the principle that a permanent, active, independent community is possible in the Warzones. For over 300 days of our existence we have strived to create a distinct Warzone culture and identity where these regions are more than just trophies of imperialist powers. We have created a theme, the "apocalyptic war ravaged world" which gave our Warzone a context and reason for existence. We have encouraged roleplays and discussion, the building blocks of a community. Finally we have raised Warzone interest in World affairs, whether it be through our representation in World Assembly debates or establishing Embassies with other regions or commentary on Gameplay events, we have sought to define our place of the Warzones to the world we exist in.

The long term plans of these actions is to encourage other players to settle in Warzones and create their own communities, to raise the stature of these regions to be something worth fighting for and that the Warzone Game will be respected by even the most important regions. This was something acknowledged by most forces who would enter with good attitudes and only capture them on a tag-and-release basis leaving them open for others to develop them if they wish. Airspace itself in the past had many opportunities to permanently occupy other Warzones but we resisted because we can not fully appreciate another territory like we have at Airspace. Though we wait for another native Warzone community to emerge, we had also no issue with other occupants such as Trav Khar in Warzone Australia, who has given the region a peculiar twist by mixing Aussie tang with quasi-religious cult. They and the likes of One Big Island in Warzone Asia have all respected the Warzone Game.

This could not be said for the activities of Global Alliance which from the onset had imperialistic and expansionist designs for the Warzones, trophies for their empire. They have never respected the regions they have taken, never had any plans after taking them and aside from letting them rot and stagnate. We previously turned blind eye to their invasion of Warzone Europe, hoping it was enough. However as their greedy hands has now seen Warzone Africa fall to their grasp and their eyes on Warzone Sandbox too (despite repulsed several times in the past, including once by a radioactive Giant Toddler...), we must now oppose. Airspace stands freedom, not fiefdoms.

We realise this will be a long campaign. Airspace is only just emerging from the lazy lulls of summer, and we sensible folk face a challenge against the hyper-activity of their riotous horde. We can not shriek from what is right though, so we are here making this statement today. We encourage all fair-minded people to join us.

Warzone Regions Report - October Issue, brought to you by Warzone Airspace

Warzone Airspace

Size: 58-60
Endorsements: 11-13

Airspace has started to recruiting again after a lull in recent months.

Strength Through Persistence is the new motto for Warzone Airspace as we dig in for our battles against inactivity and apathy. One could say we really aren't made for Warzones, as most of our members found lives and would rather stay home to roleplay at their own pace rather then give in to the hyper active demands raiding requires. Embracing our new philosophy, Airspace now wins battles for being around when others get tired, give up and quit. We are in for the long run. By this logic we've won our war against Global Alliance that was mentioned in our previous report. Where are they now? NOT IN THE WARZONES! :D

Roleplay is good through, more nations acting to our Warzone theme, which got a clarification after watching Kevin Costner's Waterworld (It's not THAT bad a film!). The current story of Airspace is as follows:

A long time ago there was once a rich, powerful and technologically advanced empire reached ruled these regions. Such is their might that they thought they could create and control anything. In their decadent greed for more, and to somewhere create a paradise on Earth, devastating climate change weapons were unleashed onto the atmosphere. Yet instead of paradise...Hell was unleashed. The sea suddenly rose and swallowed almost all inhabitable land. The remnants of land become what we called "Warzones": hotly contested prizes to humanity that now scavenge on makeshift rafts...

Airspace is one of those lands. A beacon of sensibility against the hordes. We are called Airspace because with the near absence of land we took the skies. - Orbital platforms and aerodromes. We now hope to learn from our mistakes and rebuild our great civilisation to its ormer glory.

Our community nation The Airspace Capital is also a hit, especially as we tangle our opponents into the issues/roleplays of the nations. This is another tactic Airspace employs on our enemies under our new strategy: you either roleplay with us, on our terms and participate on our region or else you met a grisly fate as *we* decide what happens to you. It's a fun game to play.

Around the Warzones

An update on what's happening in our neighbouring Warzones. That's the other purpose of Warzone Airspace today, a safe haven with the closets seats to snigger at the *drama* that happens in other Warzones.

Over in Warzone Africa, the withdrawal of Global Alliance troops, a foolhardy but at least some-what-communicable force has now seen the region shrouded in the shadow of The United Forces of Darkness. Spelling, grammar and any sense of reason were the first victims. The invaders are best seen as zombies, drooling for brrrrrains! Do not approach or they'll infect you too. Affected citizens will be quarantined.

One Big Island continues to hold Warzone Asia, but sources say they are combating a rat plague that seems to have engulfed the region. One of our reporters took a photo and they look like this: <:3)~. Expert argue the nearby lagoon where they have camped is a breeding ground for pests and recommend resettlement. In on-field activity, Herr Brightonburg has allied with The Black Knights, the recently defected freelance military wing from Global Powers, and looted Warzone Australia as signal to the world that a revived mercenary force in town.

We welcome back the original Warzone warriors of The YoungWorld back to the Warzones! Old men suddenly became young again when one day they saw the flag of The YoungWorld flying above Warzone Europe. They were a most civilised and sophisticated kind of people too, which makes for a nice change from the unscrupulous types that usually lurk around these dens of vice. The ghouls and skeletons from The United Forces of Darkness tried to invade were no match by them with their bodies purified by the blue phoenix of TYW delegate Cement Tides. A recent lapse in concentration however has seen DEN Central Command take over the region.

Finally in the original Warzone Sandbox, things got pretty boring after The Empire Of United Nations captured the region from The Grammar Nazi Party of the Axis of Evil. After some vague claims of liberating and develop the region, things have so gone quiet by the circus acts of WZ Codgers Clowns had to escape to Balder to find some entertainment. Perhaps a visit from The Worms might help them...

Accidentally deleted this old report while making the new one. I had to drag this up from the archive but the formatting is lost

Warzone Regions Report - November Issue, brought to you by Warzone Airspace

Warzone Airspace

Size: 97 (Peaked at 103)
Endorsements: 17 (Peaked at 19)

Airspace is one year old!

A massive recruitment was taken, growing Airspace past 90/100 nations. Our current size is a new record for Airspace, beating our previous peak almost a year ago of 83. On that note, the current government of Airspace* recently passed its first Birthday!

The exact date depends on how you look at it - Do we start when TITO took first Airspace on a routine training mission and encountered a mad Codger with an insane idea? Or when Airspace was in the hands of the elder nation Bangners and Mash, whose been loyal to Airspace through thick and thin? Or when it was finally given for Warzone Codger to lead, taking to where it is today?

In anycase, all those dates have past so Happy Birthday Airspace!

(*Some might remember the period when Warzone Codger unexpectedly quit the game for a few months, and Airspace faced darkest hours. Terybithia and Zandalore who were delegates in that period were people who I recruited and valiantly tried to hold Airspace together when it was thrust upon them. Importantly treated the region as a continuation of this Airspace (Flag remained unchanged etc) so it is counted as part of the Airspace government.)

Internal Affairs - Roleplaying continues to grow.

More latest recruitment drive attracted a number of committed roleplayers, greatly aiding Airspace's goals to provide 'the complete Warzone experience'. Airspace holds a singular regional view of the world, shunning the artificial barriers between roleplay, the WA and gameplay. For us everything is a part of "Warzone Airspace" - our nations are warzone themed, we fight around the warzones and we vote in the WA and answer or issues based on this theme. In Warzone Airspace for these areas seamlessly affect each other.

Our community nation+main story role play is approaching it's 20th issue making possibly making it longest running nation of this concept in any region. So what type of nation is Airspace? Check out The Airspace Capital to see for yourself!

Some thoughts:

Beginning from neutral, our economy ranking has not moved at all.
Political freedoms have plunged, which was expected as being a Warzone you don't want others challenging your rule.
Civil rights have steadily risen - Airspacians value that they are fighting from freedom?

Foreign Affairs - The Marine Corps raided. Incidents with the Union of Israel Tribes and Nations of the World.

The Marine Corps was a newbie raider region have tried recruit in Airspace multiple times. Biding our time until he was inactive, Airspace responded by ironically raiding his region in response, especially as he left admin controls on the delegate open, allowing us to change the WFE. But soon enough, he came out of the slumber (despite being inactive for 40 days previously) and kicked us out. Still it was fun.

Key points to note: 1. They advertised themselves as an invader region. That in itself is 'opt-in' to the possibility of counter attack. 2. They offended a Warzone. Warzones are by game definition opt in conflict areas, so by interacting with one, ones opted in to the possibility of counter attacks.

The incidents in the Union of Israel Tribes and Nations of the World I have explained previously in another thread - see here. In short they tried to recruit us, embassy spammed us and flamed us. Airspace responded creatively by translating this into roleplay events and getting them to participate. The former region somehow self destructed -I guess they had problem already and my RP was the last straw-, while the latter played along and we both left on happy terms.

Key points to note: Both incidents were settled through RP and diplomacy. No raiding occurred in either. However was invading an option? Airspace does not engage in "defender/raider-isms" and considers all relations as inter-regional affairs between country A and B. We consider ourselves a reasonable region (in the same vein of the WA's "reasonable nation theory", or countries in real life...), where our primary interest is in building relationships and a reaching amicable resolution. We are not crazies that scream 'wAr!!11' and 'n00ks' are every opportunity in roleplay, and we apply the same for war/invading in gameplay.

However if it is accepted that even reasonable nations have reasons for wars in roleplay, does the same not apply for gameplay? In both area, the context, length, history and particulars of the relationship built between the two regions are important. Sovereignty means respecting that a region might *willingly* make decisions/actions with another region that possibly leads to negative outcomes. Mistakes and incorrect judgements happen. It needs to be emphasised however that they *opted in* and therefore should accept the consequences, and not expecting to be bailed out when thing go wrong. That said, for this to work, both parties need to show they are Reasonable Regions.

In the current case, we conclude 'probably not' (and hence why we didn't), but if later on...and we can point to a months/years ago history of relations and conflict on various levels between us, and which we are both far too deeply involved with each other, maybe.

Airspace hopes external parties would consider these factors and look beyond '-isms'. In respect to defenders, most of them are against raiders do raid for the lulz and violate any aspect of the Reasonable Nation/Region Theory. However we must be cautious to the slippery slope that no Reasonable Region has any reason to war.

Embassies - Airspace builds embassies with The Genesis Corporation. Statement on recent events

Airspace has agreed to build embassies with The Genesis Corporation, the two region to do so as Gen Corp begin to emerge from its internal crisis. Gen Corp is one of the largest regions in the game and at one point had the 2nd highest number of endorsements. They are enthusiastic supporter of our activities in the Warzones, while we in return appreciate the opportunities they provide for roleplay (relations with an evil military-industrial conglomerate is a new twist for warzone roleplays!) and their irreverent attitude to the World Assembly and especially the Security Council (it makes for a great counterweight and provides drama!)

We have heard many murmurs of their less-than-pristine history of raiding and griefing of regions. All Airspace can say is that our knowledge of them has been in their current guise of roleplaying/WA/internal affairs. As said above, GenCorp has been a supporter of Airspace.

Concerning their current action on Bakserboltia, Airspace does not know the details and is not in a position to judge. If called upon, we refer to our statement to look at the depth of relationship between the two regions and whether the regions are acting as Reasonable Regions. Has that been the case? We invite opinions.

(Part 2: About what's happening in the -other- Warzones will be up soon. It's been pretty quiet )

Warfront January Report

Warzone Airspace

Size: 70 (Peaked at 103 in late October)
Endorsements: 16 (Peaked at 25 in late early January)

Airspace becomes the Warfront

The group of nations residing in Warzone Airspace has now been named the Warfront. This reflects our claim to any and all six Warzones, rather than just Warzone Airspace specifically. Currently we are still headquartered in Airspace but this could change in the future. To mark the change we are now flying a new flag

Roleplay: Attacks of the mutant carp and the Empire of Apathy!

Roleplaying took a bizarre twist as the Warfront was double teamed from attacks by mutant asian carp (http://www.nationstates.net/page=rmb/postid=919066) and the Empire of Apathy (http://www.nationstates.net/page=rmb/postid=921155)

The matter settled a bit after making a deal with the ghouls of Apathy to think of some exotic recipes for carp - they need to eat too! This was possible because we found common ground with apathy, being pretty apathetic ourselves and our 'creativity supplies' to battle him were running low. Our IGNORE cannons that barricaded us against the carp also began thinning out (aka, we can only ignore them for so long, it's not nice) and as they intercepted us something need to be done.

However we need your help! Send us your favourite carp recipes to combat them before the wake up and attack us again!

Foreign Affairs - The Marine Corps returned. Communist Grinches attack Christmas!

Our last report detailed our raid and refounding of The Marine Corps, an invader region who has tried to harass and attack the Warfront in the past. We thought that would be the end of them but recently, months after, they have resurrected as the (note the little 'the') Marine Corps. In an act of generosity and not wishing to have anything to do with them any more, we returned their original region after they agreed not to deal with us any more.

We hope this is the end of this sad sorry saga.

Our other major event was our tradition of being grinches during Christmas. Our first event in 2010 involved our 'invasion' of the region North Pole with much RP and Gameplay merriment. In 2011 we decided to take this further can the region Christmas itself was the target! What better show was there than to say Grinches invaded Christmas on Christmas! We were proud to say this was accomplished on Boxing day (close enough ;)) where we then exposed Santa for the bourgeois fat cat he is before being liberated by the UDL. I hope everyone can forgive us for having fun 'outside' every once in a while especially on Christmas!

Warzone Codger becomes the longest delegate!

To be detailed in another post.

As many of you know, I've mostly retired from NS and am happy to let the Airspace community step out of the spotlight prod along as a minor RP region...

However there are still a few personal vendettas outstanding, and Airspace (or at least I) never forget. Today one of them has been resolved.

1 year and 29 days ago the region Bethel Park had the nerve to recruit in Warzone Airspace. Not just a typical recruitment ad (which is annoying enough), their strategy was to belittle my leadership and tried to undermine our community.

Their ad (I have also screenshot it in case they want to delete their evidence)

Hello I am Bethel Park Recruiting Officer, a nation from the region of Bethel Park. I urge you to join our region. You currently reside in Warzone Airspace, a very large region. While this is good, in a smaller region like ours your voice will be heard. We have our own constitution, our own site with message boards, our own map, and much more! If you join Bethel Park you can propose laws, and vote on new ones! You could even try to become the Delegate. Can you do things like that in Warzone Airspace? You will never get your voice heard! So come one over and join as in Bethel Park!

How could I let such an affront against me stand? As time since proved, Airspace grew and prospered while Bethel Park eventually withered away...and I took the opportunity to refound it. Of course there's nothing amazing about refounding a dead region, and note I didn't mention it in the three months I've held it, the personal satisfaction was enough.

Recently though, I found a nice little surprise. (Also screenshot it on my computer just in case)

The United Provinces of Vasinoia (9 days ago)
Dear Bethel Airstrike,
I, Vasinoia, would like to apologize for our region recruiting in yours. I was the delegate at the time, and I can assure you the recruiter who did it was dealt with. I, on behalf of the whole region of Bethel Park, apologize. I would like to kindly request that you return Bethel Park to us.
Thank you,
Vasinoia

They've finally apologised.

As I am not griefer, only acting to protect my region's interests which are finally now resolved, I have now returned Bethel Park to their community.

Just never recruit in a Warzone.

Bump. Warzone Airspace has returned!

OP updated with our new back story. The Warzones represent Earth, which has been invaded by alien invaders - everyone outside the the Warzones, which ripped through the space time continuum from their home region to come here. Like those darn space-orks from Mordor :P

The Confrederated Clans (and other Confrederated Bodys) of the Free Bears of Bears Armed
(includes The Ursine NorthLands) Demonym = Bear[s]; adjective = ‘Urrsish’.
Population = just under 20 million. Economy = only Thriving. Average Life expectancy = c.60 years.
