Official National Name: Grazhni Pordlandia; Empire of Greater Nalydya

Short National Name(s): Imperial Nalydya; Naydya; Nalydian Empire; Pordlandia

National Government Type: High Hunter Council

Prevalent Sentient Species: Pordish

The Pords are a race of beings that emerged from the planet Nalydya many millions of years ago. It is said the gods themselves willed them into existence (along with the rest of the ecosystem of Nalydya) and this is why they are so adapted to the cold; Pordish bodies are highly resistant to to low temperature and throughout their blood flows a natural anti-freeze. Generally, Pords are in the five foot range, and heavily built, with weights in the high 140kg range being fairly average. This is due to their heavy bone structure and powerful muscles that move them. Black is the by far the most common hair colour, with brown being a bit less common; eye colour is predominately blue, although within that colour a wide range of shades and hues can be found. Reproduction is generally done on a cycle (relative to the winter), with the net result being most Pords are born around the same time each year.

Important Cultural Information:

Religious festivals and observing certain dates is very important. Jlokhemit and Rekazhnar - being the primary two gods - are highly respected, and celebrations in their honour are not uncommon. So that the winter will not be overly harsh, many do their best to curry favour with Jlokhemit, and so the oceans are calm and do not sink their vessels, others celebrate Rekazhnar.

The Hunters and High Hunters are the primary officials in the nation of Nalydya. The primary function of the Hunter class is to maintain internal order and to represent the Empire abroad. To accomplish this task, they are divided up into a number of different "levels" of "Hunterdom."

At the very lowest, are the standard Hunters. These are the Hunters that are often found in many of the small villages dotted throughout the tundras of the various Nalydian realms. They are not elected per se, rather, their positions are gained through mutual agreement and through their own demonstrated abilities. At this lower level, actual ability to hunt and provide for and protect the village is generally what decides who becomes a Hunter and who does not.

Above these low Hunter are those who have gained regional influence, generally through much contact with other communities. Their primary concern is maintaining the peace and ensuring the people in their "jurisdiction" have what they need to survive. They often bring items of note to the attention of higher Hunters, who will do their best to aid them. The range of these Hunters is considerable, and can range from a few village clumps to even entire regions of a planet.

The High Hunters are at the top of the Hunterdom. It is quite an achievement to rise to the position of High Hunter. High Hunters are greatly respected throughout the nation, and are the ones in charge of overall supervision of the day-to-day activities of the nation, as well as representing the nation on the international stage. Generally speaking, when a High Hunter organizes something (such as a relief effort for a region in drought), Pords are quick to react to get the job done. For obvious reason, High Hunters tend to be aged men and women, who have served their communities for nearly their entire lives.

Hunters generally convene in buildings labeled as "Villas," which tend to be located centrally in whatever village or city they live in. The Palatial Villa in the capital of Tnem-Fragg and the Grand Hall of the Great House of Yamsai are the two largest and most important of these. In these two structures, the most important of the High Hunters gather to discuss matters of great relevance to the nation.

Hunter attire ranges from the modest tunics, trousers and coats the lower Hunters wear to keep warm in the tundra to the elaborate blue and white robes many of the Higher Hunters are known to wear. Although the traditional weapon of the Hunter is the spear (and to a smaller extent the trident), many Hunters carry two swords with them, in addition to a water satchel. It is a rarity for a Hunter to not know the art of waterbending.

The Hunters are also active in the realm of law, keeping order throughout Nalydya by virtue of their knowledge of the Hunter Code, an unwritten code of ethics that binds Nalydian society together. Although things such as theft, murder, rape, etc are not technically "illegal," the Hunter Code does give guidelines as for what should be done to those who would upset the natural order of things. With this in mind, those who cause chaos within society are generally dealt with in an efficient manner, allowing the Pords to retain order in their otherwise lawless society.

Galactic Quadrant Location: Not in the Milky Way. Located in the Barbarossa I Galaxy in a quadrant aptly named after Nalydya

Other Pertinent Information:

About half of the nation lives in the cities that dot the Empire's planets. Those that live in the cities have many jobs, mostly that pertain to keeping the nation running. With scarcity mostly a non-issue, many jobs are volunteer work, with others paying in resources. While in theory there is plenty of time for leisure, most Pords do not take part in such activities, preferring to keep themselves busy with a wide variety of activities. For the most part though, life in the cities is not terribly difficult.

Elsewhere in the nation, many live in small towns and villages dotted about the tundra. These hunting communities are comprised of very closely knit individuals who hunt together to bring food back and spend most of the day tending to the basic amenities that they need to survive. Although most can easily move, most chose not to.

Tnem-Fragg is the capital of Imperial Nalydya. It is a large, sprawling city with mostly shorter buildings, many of which are thousands of years old and retain the marks of previous wars and conflicts. The city stretches over an area of almost 350,000 square kilometers, and is surrounded by one hundred meter tall walls constructed out of ice (mostly) with limited support from other materials.

Tnem-Fragg serves as the meeting place for the Hunters and the birthplace of the Great House of Natynozh, the historical rivals of the Yamsai. Deep within the walls of the city (and behind its own walls) is the Palatial Villa, a large structure where the Hunters meet to discuss policy and direct the nation. Many Hunters live within the Villa, still others do not.

Grazhni Yamsai is the capital of the Great House of Yamsai. First settled by Yamsai'an Hunters many thousands of years ago, it was the first planet the Pords brought into their realm via peaceful means. The Hunters of the Great House of Yamsai take great pride in the planet, and many have died defending its orbitals from aggressors.

Yamsai is a semi-autonomous state, ruling over its domain mostly independent from command from Tnem-Fragg. Thus, it is possible for it to go into agreements with foreign entities separately from the rest of the nation. Nevertheless, many of the High Hunters of the Yamsai still meet at the Palatial Villa in Tnem-Fragg on Nalydya.

Official National Name: The Dominion of Valefore
Short National Name(s): Valefore
National Government Type: Unitary Absolute Monarchy
Prevalent Sentient Species: Valeforean, Human
Important Cultural Information: Valeforean society is highly stratified by social class as well as by organization. That's not to say however that one cannot move up the ladder as it were; or even down it on occasion if ones actions would warrant such a demotion. For the average Valeforean, perhaps the easiest possible route to advancement begins by applying to one of Valefore's many "Knight Houses" which make up the Dominions military forces. Being noted for, and rewarded for acts of command, valor, and personal bravery are perhaps the easiest way to earn a title of nobility within Valeforean society for those not directly born into one.
Culturally, Valeforeans are fairly easy going with a natural curiosity for everything around them. It is this curiosity that has led to a culture that promotes intelligence and emotional expression. The Arts (such as music, literature, painting, etc.) in particular are held in high regard among Valeforeans and typically, they are encouraged from a young age to pursue as many topics of interest as they possibly can. A pursuit that will continue throughout their lives.
One of the more interesting aspects of Valeforean culture is the use of both public and private names. Names have power; or so it is believed by the Valeforeans, and as such, each Valeforean has a public name to go along with their true name which is unknown to anyone other than the owner of the true name and their closest family.

Official National Name:
Image
[annusindarind imeroderaethtos] (The NeoSindar Empire)

National Government Type: Totalitarian Constitutional Theocratic Monarchy (Caste system, police state, shared power between Monarch and highest levels of highest caste, 'Reformed' Church of Eru ideology)

Prevalent Sentient Species:
NeoSindar (post-Human) (enhanced memory, pattern recognition, brain 'endurance', pentachromacy, health/longevity, gender imbalance, ...); Human (modified) (tetrachromacy, gender imbalance, various); Belaedinosi (modified) (Wolf-men) (naturally taller, stronger, dichromats, superior smell; made tetrachromats, gender imbalanced) Belaedinar drawing

Important Cultural Information: The colony expedition was drawn from reactionaries romanticizing the Royal Confederacy's glorious past under the fabled Sindar empire of antiquity. Secretly, the wealthiest dunedain backers of the expedition sought to actually build a new Sindar Empire, 'reconstructing' the fabled sindar through a bit of genealogical genetic reconstruction and a lot of genetic engineering. Seeking to maximize the growth of the new society, on seizing control they distributed a retroviral infection which added the now mandated genes, including a massive gender imbalance. The new social structure has large households at every level, with a man administering the household itself, several wives working and teaching, and dozens of children. Households are clients of other households, in turn clients to others, all the way up the caste hierarchy to the Imperial family. Thin client networked computers are used ubiquitously, and it is known that the security services, in occasional tension with patron households, will investigate and deal with any hint of disloyalty. The higher authorities are subject to a degree of paranoia, regarding both the 'lower orders' and the Homeworld, which is assumed to be dominated by federated liberal democratic republics.

Postby The Voidborne » Fri Mar 18, 2016 8:41 am

Official National Name: The Voidborne

Short National Name(s) Voidborne

National Government Type: The Voidborne lack a centralized government

Prevalent Sentient Species: Voidborne

Important Information:
Once, millions of years ago the Voidborne possessed a galaxy spanning empire with several million colonized worlds. Along with their vast empire they possessed uncountable wealth and thousands upon thousands of wonders; both natural and artificial. Having developed technologically at a much higher rate than other races in their galaxy, they at first spent their time colonizing the stars and exploring the unknown in the pursuit of knowledge, resources, and wealth. In time however, they began to meddle with the “lesser” races they came across; manipulating their development and using them for various purposes.
Eventually, a number of these younger races came to see the Voidborne as gods and began to worship them accordingly. This state of affairs would continue for several thousand years and as time passed, the Voidborne became more corrupt and prideful of their status as gods to these younger races. It would be their belief in their supposed godhood that would eventually lead to their downfall and the destruction of nearly their entire race.
With their growing faith in their own divinity, the Voidborne began Project Ascension with the ultimate goal of breaching the border of their current plane of existence and entering a higher realm where they would shed their mortal form and obtain immortality and further godly powers… Fast forward another thousand years and Project Ascension would bare its deadly fruit. Sadly for the Voidborne, what they found upon entry into this other plane of existence was anything and everything but what they were expecting, and the locals were not inclined to sharing as it were.
And so began an era that would be termed “The Age of Strife” by the Voidborne. This five thousand year period would see the destruction of approximately 99% of all life in the galaxy and in the end, the astronomical levels of destruction inflicted would be the death knell of the Voidborne's galaxy spanning empire. The few battered survivors were forced to flee; taking only a few of their less damaged worlds with them, they shifted the paltry remains of their civilization to an entirely new galaxy after sealing the gateways to the other realm behind them… Hopefully forever…
In one way however, as twisted as it may seem, this final endeavor would ultimately grant them a pale shadow of their original desire as the process of fleeing their old galaxy, as well as the interaction with the exotic energies of that other plane that had bled into their reality succeeded in stripping them of their mortal flesh and blood bodies, and along with their bodies so too went their mortality. Unfortunately, while the idea of immortality may seem great at first glance, it is a far more unpleasant prospect when you lack any real way to interact with the world around you. Without their physical forms, they had lost any and all ways of interacting with even the simplest of things; including, to a large degree, each other.
Again, we fast forward, this time though it is several tens of thousands of years. It would be at this time that one of the Voidborne would learn of a way to fix their broken state of existence. Samain'Omeddan; who had once been a respected and highly revered military figure among the Voidborne would learn, unintentionally, of one skill their new esoteric forms did possess that would change them all forever. In a fit of pique, Omeddan ran raging through the damaged remains of a number of the Voidborne’s old war automata. When he finally came to a stop, he was still inside the last of them, and with a strange jolt, and the first physical sensation he’d experienced in thousands of years he found that he had some limited amount of control over it. Several centuries of trial and error later, Omeddan took his discovery to what remained of his people.
With their “new” bodies, the Voidborne began to slowly rebuild. It would take several millennia of toil and additional trial and error, and numerous refinements to the process, but eventually the Voidborne rebuilt enough of an infrastructure that they could experiment with, and refine the process even further. Eventually, the Voidborne developed the process to a high enough level that they have once more stepped out amongst the stars.
In present times, the Voidborne are still a broken, fractured race. They have no central government to speak of and for the vast majority of the Voidborne; well they can barely stand the sight of others of their own race most of the time-let alone stand to work with them… As such, the Voidborne can usually be found only in small numbers; usually singly, as family groups, or slightly larger groups that have united for a shared purpose. It is only rarely, and almost always in the defense of their few remaining Shrineworlds that the Voidborne unite in any kind of significant numbers at all, and while they have lost much over the intervening millennia since their fall, the amount of power they can still bring to bear on a foe is surprisingly high.
The vast majority of the Voidborne are most assuredly insane although most manage to conceal this fact surprisingly well. In present times, most of the Voidborne can be found in pursuit of whatever has currently caught their fancy… Music, art, random acts of violence, and so on… Generally whatever facet of their former lives that they’ve managed to cling too throughout the millennia. These pursuits are used by the Voidborne to pass the time; the one thing they have an over-abundance of.

Simulacra are a form of artificial body that the Voidborne possess in order to allow them to fully interact with not only each other, but also with other races, and their environment as well. These bodies come in many different shapes and sizes as they are generally tailored to the preferences of individual members of the Voidborne. Also, military grade simulacra do exist and are noted as being far more durable than the standard run of the mill simulacra intended for day to day use. Further information concerning military grade simulacra can be found with the rest of the Voidborne's military information.
Simulacra themselves are an odd mixture of biological and mechanical components that have been specially engineered by the Voidborne so as to be easier to possess (think of this as a process somewhat similar to demonic possession). Basically however, they are an empty, lifeless shell that is typically incapable of any type of independent action without the influence of one of the Voidborne upon their bio-circuitry. It should be noted that the vast majority of simulacra; both military and standard are not designed to emulate a true living body in any way beyond their outermost appearance. These simulacra do not breathe, they do not eat or drink, hell, they don't even bleed when you cut them, and lastly, they do not age. There is however, a more refined class of simulacra that are intended to at least mimic the biological functions of a living creature to the fullest effect. These simulacra are capable of doing everything a living, biological organism can with only one major exception… They, like all simulacra are sterile. As such, while they are capable of performing the act (sexual intercourse), they are incapable of creating or carrying offspring although the Voidborne have spent the last several millennia attempting to change this in a vain hope of somehow stopping the slow extinction of their race. At this time however, no such simulacra has proven to be even partly successful in this matter.
The possession of a simulacrum is in many ways similar to the idea of “demonic possession” in that the body itself is possessed and worked in a way similar to a puppet with the possessor being the one pulling the strings. Such a possession takes a fair amount of practice, concentration, and willpower. It has been noted that after enough practice, the act of taking possession of a simulacrum becomes faster and somewhat easier; if no less painful. Attempts have been made to expand on the process by select members of the Voidborne with mixed results. It has been noted that in most cases of attempting to possess random machineries from simple robots to full size starships that such an attempt can be successful about 70% of the time. This rate drops rapidly as the size and complexity of the target increases and the presence of advanced computer technology and/or semi-sentient/sentient A.I.’s drops this even lower to about 5%-15%.
It is perhaps unsurprisingly when an attempt is made at possessing a living organism with a sufficient level of intelligence is made that the most shocking and unpleasant results can be achieved. Only two dozen of such attempts have ever been made, and despite a number of differences of race, sex, and biological makeup, every one of these attempts have ended with a debilitating level of pain followed by psychosis, dementia, and a variety of other unpleasant and destabilizing mental conditions for both parties involved. All subjects of these tests were later put down via “mercy killing” and further attempts are generally considered to be banned; although there is no real enforcement of this policy due to a lack of a central government. However, the widely circulated effects and the brutal end of said experiments has thus far proven more than sufficient in dissuading further attempts by the Voidborne in this vein of experimentation.
To date, even after several thousand years of refinement the process of actually possessing ones simulacra can still be a time intensive process-usually taking several hours (depending on both the simulacra and the possesser). While this process can be rushed to a period of only a few seconds, doing so usually leads to a number of complications and a hefty increase in the amount of pain and suffering involved in the process. The brave few of the Voidborne to attempt such a thing repeatedly in the name of science have described the sensation as feeling as though they were being slowly flayed alive with a dull blade. The aforementioned complications may include some or all of the following as well:
-dizziness
-nausea
-uncontrollable full body tremors
-temporary blindness
-temporary deafness
-vertigo
-temporary damage to the simulacrums bio-circuitry
-permanent damage to the simulacrums bio-circuitry
-total failure of the simulacrum in its entirety

Official National Name: Zäketik Viket'f Hiwa (The Feudal Kingdom Of Vixia Prime)

Short National Name(s): Vixia Prime

National Government Type: Feudal Kingdom

Prevalent Sentient Species: Vixians (86%), Yithangi (7%), Terrans (5%), Other (2%)

Important Cultural Information:
The Vixian species are very, if one is to describe them, similiar to the feudal japanese culture and they might be described as xenophobic. They like exploring, and love expanding and sharing thier culture with other species, but they are not willing to share thier culture with the ones who doesn't give them a proper welcome.

One thing the Vixians do like is a good drug, and drugs are used to improve the social status of a Vixian citizen. Slaves can also be used to improve statuses, but the average Vixians rarely own any slaves. The Vixians likes acting as mentors and teachers and this has lead to a small number of Vixians traveling offworld to serve others as teachers, especially as art teachers.

The Vixians have, through the ages, been opressed due to thier length and this has lead to the Vixians being the xenophobic avians we know of today. Despite the oppression the Vixians have found an alien star-state sharing the same cultural traits as them, the Yithangians, and things have gone so far that they have formed an alliance. There are times when the Vixians almost went to war with other star-states due to this oppression, but so far, the Vixians have managed to solve those conflicts with diplomacy.

The Vixians have put thier reliance to robot servants who do everything for the Vixians. The robots fight the wars, work in the factories and more. As the Vixians have become more xenophobic they have lost thier curiosity to explore, but they have, through the millenia charted a lot of space on thier behalf. The Vixians are an isolated kingdom and will remain in that status for a while...

The true and official name of the Reverent Dominion is debated by many different civilizations, for the Black Sun wears all of these labels and names upon its political chest without clarification or implication. Due to these reasons, many assume that the actual and official names of the Black Sun have been diminished to a few labels, supported by empirical information and primary sources: the Black Sun, the Reverent Dominion of the Black Sun, the Eternal Dominion, the Infinite Sun of Darkness, the Infinite Sun, the Eternal Sun, the Blackened Brane of the Sun, the Holy Empire of the Black Sun, and the Dominion of the Black Sun. These names are extrapolated from Black Sunite texts and works of culture and art, which in themselves have numerous names for the Reverent Dominion. For the sake of easiness of understanding and clarity of information, they shall be known simply as one of their official titles, "the Black Sun", from here-on-outward in this index. it may or may not be referred to in other official ways for specific subjects.

A s t r o g r a p h i cL o c a t i o n
The majority of the Black Sun's official political jurisdiction lies within (what is considered by humans to be) the Gamma Quadrant of the Milky Way Galaxy. To elaborate, the Reverent Dominion can be found within an astronomical phenomena 50,000 light years away from the Galactic Core (a.k.a Sagittarius A*). This astronomical phenomena is located inside the Gamma Region of the Norma Arm, commonly referred to as the "Norma Point" from being so close to the fading edge. This astronomical phenomenon is a colossal planetary nebula, one that could even been seen from Earth (with a telescope) if it wasn't for the galactic core obscuring any vision. The Dominion resides within this cradle of stars, although it is unknown if the Black Sun are even native to these juvenile worlds. The nebula has been nicknamed "The Cradle of the Suns".

The Cradle, as mentioned before, is located within the Gamma region of the Norma Arm of the Milky Way galaxy. Due to the Cradle's extremely distant proximity from the regions of the Sol System and the Alpha/Beta systems near it, the Black Sun has little-to-no humans in residence. It is also disconnected from many great trading and merchant empires, further strengthening the self-sufficiency and isolationism of the Black Sun. They also do not engage in any import/export treaties or deals, unless the other party is a vassal or protectorate.

Inside the regions of the Cradle (and the regions that surround the circumference of the nebula itself), the Black Sun has ownership of over a hundred-and-thirty-six (136) individual star systems, with each system having from one (1) to three (3) individual stars, each with their own planets. Of these 136 individual star systems, only approximately twenty-four (24) actually meet habitable standards for humans. Alas, since the Black Sunites are their own humanoid race, they have a much more relaxed environmental threshold. Outside of the Cradle itself, the Black Sun only has a few "guardian" star systems within a few light years of the nebula. The Black Sun does not own any other enclaves, exclaves, or posts outside of their official territory; contributing to the overall mystery of the Dominion.

G o v e r n m e n t
The Reverent Dominion of the Black Sun is a truly unique political entity; for a lack of more synthetic neologisms, the Black Sun can be described as a theocratic imperial autocracy, with the newly-coined neologism being the "theoimperial" autocracy. The Black Sun does not have an Emperor to rule over all; instead, it has an interpreter of God named the "Eternal Synedrus". For every convening Senate, a new Eternal Synedrus is elected. As the title of the rank suggests, the Synedrus is nigh-immortal from various biological and artificial augmentations. Death only comes when they are assassinated, overthrown, or commit ritual suicide. The absolute law stems from the holy books of Black Sunism, named "Black Books". The first five Black Books are recordings from the God Kuexxoxua on how to lead His Ira, and the second set of five books detail the entire history of the Reverent Dominion.

The government of the Black Sun can be broken down into two main factions of power, with each having their own facets of sub-organizations: the Blackened Thrones, the core leadership faction of the Reverent Dominion, and the Outer Carapace, the main administrative, diplomatic, and military subdivisions.

    The Blackened Thrones

    • The Eternal Synedrus - The Eternal Synedrus is the absolute power in the entirety of the Reverent Dominion of the Black Sun. He (or she, in special hereditary or elective circumstances) has supreme authority over the entirety of the economy, the government, the military, and the decisions of the diplomats. Since the Eternal Synedrus is considered to be one of the two (and greater) divine conduits of God's influence, any meddling with the Eternal Synedrus's affairs will result in instant ritual homicide (unless pardoned by the Eternal Synedrus, or God, through natural miracles).

    • The Head Chiliarchus of the Theoimperial Senate - The Head Chiliarchus is elected from every convening of the next Theoimperial Senate by every single Senator. Serving effectively as the right-hand/Second-in-Command of the entire Reverent Dominion, and as a subordinate to the Eternal Synedrus, the Head Chiliarchus is the effective manager of the legislative politics of the Black Sun's Senate and individual law creators. In case of the Eternal Synedrus's death, the Head Chiliarchus will take their place. The Head Chiliarchus's subordinate is the Vice Chiliarchus, and his hierarchical equals are the Chief Imperator of Justice, the Supreme Carnifex of the Legions of the Blackened Sun, the Grand Mercator of the Treasury, and the Divine Conduit of the Blackened Sun.

    • The Vice Chiliarchus of the Theoimperial Senate - The Vice Chiliarchus of the Senate is the elected subordinate to the Head Chiliarchus, wielding similar power and function as the Head Chiliarchus does. Alas, since the Head Chiliarchus is his or her higher-up, they must obey all and every order that the Head Chiliarchus gives (unless overridden by the Eternal Synedrus and/or the Chief Imperator of Justice).

    • The Chief Imperator of Justice - The Chief Imperator of Justice is the Supreme Judge and judicial figure of the entire Black Sun, with his or her leader only being the Eternal Synedrus. They interpret and publish every single law with maximum scrutiny, and can convict any and all officials and citizens with a punishment (with the exception of the Head Chiliarchus of the Senate ad the Eternal Synedrus).

    • The Supreme Carnifex of the Legions of the Blackened Sun - The Supreme Carnifex is the main political figure in charge of military, security, and intelligence affairs for the Reverent Dominion. He or she has to be stalwart, stoic, and utterly obedient to the Black Books and the Eternal Synedrus. The Supreme Carnifex is responsible for the management, construction, dictation, and rehabilitation of the entirety of the Legions. As mentioned before, they are also responsible for the security of the homeland, and the (counter)intelligence forces of the Dominion; usually sponsoring the overthrows of local small systems to the will of the Black Sun. The Supreme Carnifex has equal power with the Chief Imperator of Justice, the Head Chancellor of the Theoimperial Senate, and the Grand Mercator of the Treasury.

    • The Grand Mercator of the Treasury - The Grand Mercator is responsible for the management and facilitation of Black Sunite economic activities, through domestic (or very rarely) international means of nodal commerce. The Grand Mercator of the Treasury has equal power with the Chief Imperator of Justice, the Head Chancellor of the Theoimperial Senate, and the Supreme Carnifex of the Legions of the Blackened Sun.
    • The Divine Conduit of the Blackened Sun - The Divine Conduit is the second conduit in the entirety of the Dominion, with the exception of the Eternal Synedrus. The Divine Conduit is responsible for the interpretation and proselytization of Black Sunism across the greater Universe. The Divine Conduit is considered to only be commanded by the Eternal Synedrus.

The Blackened Thrones are considered to be the apex, pinnacle, zenith, and epitome of the Ira of the Blackened Sun. Although each of the Blackened Thrones are elected to power, they are considered to be out-right appointed by God Himself to lead. The elections for leadership are not based on personal convictions of the Senators, either -- the Blackened Thrones must prove their leadership power through the strict interpretation of the Black Books, ultra-nationalistic patriotism, and an unwavering goal to annihilate the entire Universe from heretical opposition. Those who do not meet these credentials, and decide to publicly run for the Blackened Thrones, are summarily executed through ritual sacrifice.

    The Outer Carapace

    • The Convened Senators of the Theoimperial Senate - The Convened Senators of the Theoimperial Senate constitute a large majority of the legislative branch of the Reverent Dominion. The Theoimperial Senate and its members can be freely dissolved, reformed, and reconstructed at any time, at the behest of the Blackened Thrones. They hold some power in overall affairs, although it is dwarfed by the Head and Vice Chiliarches. Senators come from all the sectors, territories, systems, and provinces of the Reverent Dominion, and are used as tools of propaganda to show that the Black Sun has some form of "democratic principle"; the Senators are never chosen by their actual populace.

    • The Amalgam of Provincial Overseers - The Amalgam is a collection of governors, called "overseers" by the Theoimperial Senate, that directly control and dictate the provincial and local governments of the Black Sun's many political subdivisions and sub-units. They never truly "meet" in one convention, and are appointed by the Theoimperial Senate once a previous overseer dies.

    • The Officers' Convocation of the Superior Legions of the Blackened Sun - The Officers' Convocation is a military faction, staffed by the Supreme Carnifex, that includes most (if not all) of the upper officer hierarchy of the Superior Legions (the armed forces of the Reverent Dominion). Arguably the most powerful faction behind the Theoimperial Senate, the Holy Synod (below), the Conclave (below), and the Blackened Thrones, the Officers' Convocation possesses the same responsibilities as the Supreme Carnifex does, but allocated as a collective group rather than a singular person.

    • The Holy Synod - The Holy Synod, headed by both the Eternal Synedrus and the Divine Conduit, is the primary ecclesiastic faction within the Reverent Dominion of the Black Sun. They are, as mentioned before, one of the arguably most powerful factions in the entire Black Sun. The Holy Synod is in charge of all religious affairs and Inquisitional authority, rounding up heretics/heathens and spreading the word of the Black Sun to all. The Holy Synod's members can also be in another faction at the same time; many are also in the Theoimperial Senate, the Amalgam of Provincial Overseers, and the Officers' Convocation.

    • The Conclave of the Economy and Treasury - The Conclave, led by the Grand Mercator of the Treasury, is responsible for the management and further production of monetary value within the Reverent Dominion, the safekeeping of stored precious minerals, and the forming of the entire backbone of the Dominion's state-owned industry. Considered to be a very powerful faction, their effective management of the Dominion's supplies have brought the Black Sun to great financial power, amongst their economic isolationism and self-sufficiency.

E c o n o m y
The economy of the Reverent Dominion of the Black Sun can be summed up in a few words: economic isolationism, and self-sufficiency. Due to the radical theology and politics of the Black Sun, and the blazing expansionism expressed in the Cradle nebula, the Black Sun has little in the terms of economic and commercial trading partners. Due to absorbing and converting every single state and system they see into Black Sunism, the Rverent Dominion has had to rapidly centralize and isolate its economy. Every single material and product ever sold in the Black Sun is Dominion property, and every service is provided by state corporations. Although this sounds a lot liker Terran socialism, it is quite the opposite; Conclave members who own specific state corporations have made trillions of the Black Sun's local currency. Tariffs have been put in place for the few countries that the Dominion has left alive, and the majority of the Black Sun's industry is focused on researching and developing weapons of war. This has left a large portion of the Black Sunite populace -- more specifically, conquered peoples -- in very low SDI (Species Development Index) positions.

The finances and economy of the Dominion's government is guided from the Conclave of the Economy and Treasury, which is then managed by the Grand Mercator of the Treasury. The Conclave is also responsible for the proprietorship and management of all the slaves inside of the Dominion, which are all owned by the government rather than their individual master(s). The local and official currency of the Reverent Dominion of the Black Sun is known as the Kzyari, and the value of the Kzyari is disconnected from most/all other currencies in the galaxy. The Kzyari does not have any actual products backing their value, but are rather the measurement of labor that legal individuals do. In rare occasions, the Conclave has exchanged precious products in exchange for an unknown and backed Dominion currency. It is most probable that this currency is used exclusively by the government.

Slavery within the Reverent Dominion is a large factor behind its labor force, with over fifty percent (50%) of all laborers being some sort of slave, whether being a temporary slave for a committed crime, or a permanent slave for felonies and being prisoners of war. There are little to no freedom rebellions either, as all slaves are implanted with devices that constantly scramble neurological patterns and thoughts associated with strong dissent and rebellion. All slaves are owned by the state, and can be bought as common commodities at will. More information about the slaves are covered in the demographic section below.

D e m o g r a p h y
The Reverent Dominion of the Black Sun is splintered into several classes of influence, power projection, and wealthiness. In some rare occasions, classes arise from a large population of alien species being absorbed and converted into the Black Sun; alas, these populations do not sufficiently survive long enough in such numbers to warrant a notable classification in the classes of the Reverent Dominion. Listed below are the most notable and distinct classes within the Black Sun, with short descriptions enclosed:

The Chamber of Blackened Glory - In short, the Chamber of Blackened Glory is the social (not political) title of those who are members of the Blackened Thrones.

The Chamber of Nobility - Those who possess supreme power, with such power being only subordinate to the influence and power of those who are in the Chamber of Blackened Glory.

The Chamber of the Clergy - Those who are members of the Holy Synod, its Inquisitional organizations, and well-reknown subconduits.

The Chamber of Law - Those who are members of the Convened Senators of the Theoimperial Senate.Tied with the Chambers of Power and Wealth.

The Chamber of Wealth - Those who are members of the Conclave of the Economy and Treasury. Tied with the Chambers of Law, Overseers, and Power.

The Chamber of Power - Those who are members of the Officers' Convocation of the Superior Legions of the Blackened Sun. Tied with the Chambers of Wealth, Overseers, and Law.

The Chamber of Overseers - Those who have been made members of the Amalgam of Provincial Overseers. Tied with the Chambers of Wealth and Power, but not Law.

The Chambers of Servitude - Those who are members of law-enforcement and (para)military organizations, but not officers.

The Chambers of the Kzya - Those who can draw their ancestry all the way to the progenitor of the Reverent Dominion of the Blackened Sun, the Planetary Union of Kzya, but are not members of the above classes.

The Chambers of the First-Conquered - Those who are members of species that were first conquered by the The Black Sun Dominion of the Kzya, before the Reverent Dominion of the Black Sun was proclaimed. Contains the alien species of the:
    • Bruemid (Arthropoid)
    • Pueg (Mammalian)
    • Zoetrihm (Fungoid)
    • Auts (Avian)
    • Glokhymmo (Arthropoid)
    • Un'olne (Plant)
    • Klyshae (Molluscoid)
    • Brauxxuarkeo (Reptilian)
    • Zoukohsh (Avian)
    • Eahnyptie (Mammalian)
    • Etryhq (Mammalian)
    • Gribypt (Reptilian)
    • Kypt (Mammalian)
    • Wreixihr (Reptilian)
    • Nybbidae (Arthropoid)
    • Oensens (Avian)
    • Gnennishua (Exotic)
    • Plixxasky (Amphibian)
    • Glaet'ihl (Fungoid)
    • Sauhlyhua (Molluscoid)

The Chambers of the Second, Third, Fourth, and Fifth-Conquered - Those who were conquered during the Four Waves of Hate, after the Reverent Dominion of the Black Sun was proclaimed. Over fifty individual species are included.

The Chambers of Slaves and Servants - For those who are... slaves. Divided into a few subcategories, based on functionality and labor type.
    • The Reproductive Organ - Slaves who are bred for their beauty and yield of children. Wives, husbands, and hermaphroditic spouses are usually demoted to this class if they have committed grave crimes against their spouse (i.e adultery, spousal murder). Males are uncommon in this class, as many are mainly demoted to the Labor or War Organ. Reproductive slaves are kept in their own private dorms, if they are bought; otherwise, they are kept in reproductive facilities.
    • The Educational Organ - Slaves from intelligent species who have committed crimes are demoted to the Educational Organ, where they are monitored as they tutor the next generation fo Black Sunites for the rest of their lives. They are not allowed access to religious texts.
    • The War Organ - Slaves, both male, female, and hermaphroditic, are sent here when they have committed general felonies. They are kept in the War Organ until they die in battle.
    • The Labor Organ - The most highly populated Organ, slaves are demoted to this rank when they have committed any crimes.

C u l t u r e
Inside of the Reverent Dominion of the Black Sun, the definition of nominal life only surrounds the servitude to the state and the religion of Black Sunism. This form of lifestyle is almost omnipresent within the Black Sun, for it affects both the lowly slave and the highest government official, through law and cultural structure. This form of obedience is applicable to any and all species that are under the rule of the Black Sun, as the one true religion of Black Sunism is official to all citizens and slaves. The force of law and the obedience to the state is rather linear and flat throughout the Black Sun, with almost no variation in loyalty from province to province.

Due to the obvious and powerful economic isolationist policies enacted by the state and the Conclave, no outsider cultural influences have permeated into the territories that are proclaimed by the Reverent Dominion of the Black Sun. Although individual conquered species may retain some of their previous culture, they must have their culture syncretize with the overall culture of the Black Sun in any possible way that it can. The failure of a culture to do so will result in the full homogenization of that particular species to Kzyan-esque levels of cultural unity.

The overall culture of the Reverent Dominion can be shrunken down to three principles: the worship of the Black Sun, the value of the state and God over all, and servitude to the state.

All subjects of the Dominion, whether citizen or slave; whether low-class or high-class, must worship God (Kuexxoxua) through the phenomena known as the Black Sun. The Black Sun was a phenomena that affected the star of Yuscadus Maxima, the star that gave light to the ancestors of the Dominion on the planet of Kzya. The blue skies of Kzya turned black as the shining blue star was consumed in the darkness, before re-emerging hours later as a red-black ball of ambient fire. This event was exactly prophesied by the Prophet known as Ivazedril, in which he called the disappearing and reappearing sun "The Black Sun of Kuexxoxua". This worship now applies to all, regardless of their species' previous (lack of) religion.

All subjects of the Dominion shall also place the state and God over all else in their lives; whether it is family, friends, or wealth. This kind of valuing to the two entities cements a zealous populace for the Reverent Dominion of the Black Sun, who shall be ready to defend their homeland at a moment's notice of time. This process happens to entire species over the course of hundreds of years, primarily through propaganda and forced conversions of individuals or collective factions/families. All monarchies assimilated are dismantled, with their dynasties being slaughtered, and democracies are shattered by having their entire governments purged.

The servitude to the state (and God, as a result) is the tertiary principle, and can be considered a subfactor of the secondary principle. Servitude to the state is a must for all individuals within the Reverent Dominion of the Black Sun, and any denial to serve the state will result in instant slavery and/or ritual execution. There are several ways to serve the state as a citizen of the Black Sun: enroll in the Superior Legions, request for higher educations (in order to have more sophisticated jobs), or take a government position (locally, territorial-wise, or imperial). No matter the species, anyone can do these three servitudes without immediate denial, but rather, they shall be inspected, interviewed, and trained.

Houseidou

Postby Houseidou » Mon Jun 27, 2016 12:48 pm

Official National Name: The Divine Sovereignty of Hoseidou

Short National Name(s): Houseidou (in reference to the faith and its attached government as a whole)
Sovereignty (the type of government that it calls itself)
Izumi (in reference to Her Divinity, the Sovereign Mother Izumi, Avatar of the Celestial Phoenix, who runs the Sovereignty)
Irori (in reference to the primary planet of Houseidou, which is seen as sacred by the Houseidans)
Ryuusei Cluster (the dense cluster of stars that the Sovereignty has claimed as its own)
Softies (a derogatory term towards Houseidans and any members of the Sovereignty, in reference to the Sovereignty's propensity towards diplomacy).

National Government Type: Absolute Theocracy with Integrated Semi-Autonomous Regional Governments. Her Divinity Izumi is and has been the only head of state since its inception centuries ago, and directly manages the affairs of both church and state at the highest level.

Prevalent Sentient Species: Humans (Primarily of Asian ancestry)

Important Cultural Information: Houseidou is a nation that is steeped in mysticism and tradition, transplanting ideas from both Eastern and Western cultures from pre-spaceflight Earth and integrating them into themselves, such as tea ceremonies, various religious festivals, a deep sense of military duty, and a healthy love of sake. Furthermore, Her Divinity prides herself on trying to protect the individual freedoms of her citizens and worshipers, so there is little censorship and plenty of information. Military service of some kind is mandatory, with most rotating through the local Defense Forces. Due to the uniqueness of its location, the primary planet of the Sovereignty, Irori, does not have any sort of night analog, which has resulted in several societal quirks. Most Houseidans prefer to sleep in chambers in the middle of the house without windows, to provide enough darkness to get rest. There is also a culturally-ingrained fear of darkness, and very few members of the populace do not carry at least one personal source of light on them for safety. Finally, due to many issues being discussed and voted on electronically, anyone who wants to vote usually carries some sort of electronic device that is hooked up to the Ansible Network (A-Net) and political discussions are prevalent around most watercoolers and watering holes. Tattoos, cosmetic alterations, and especially hair and eye color changes are common amongst Houseidans.

Galactic Quadrant Location: Delta Quadrant, within the Ryuusei Cluster
