I'm wondering about SES in this survey, evidently non-whites surveyed were more likely to support that, but around here I think somebody going to these poor minority enclaves and shouting racial slurs would probably get their ass kicked instead of the cops called on them. 2. This may come as a shock to you, but gee whiz, offensive speech is already criminalized. "Fighting words", incitement to violence, and harassment have never been protected speech under the first amendment. Verbal attacks, like calling people racial slurs to harass or provoke them is already illegal.
3. For the love of God, not everything you don't like is fascism. There is nothing literally fascist about any of this. It in no way pertains to the philosophy of ultranationalism, anti-liberalism and redemptive violence espoused by actual fascists.

1. I agree the terms are too broad. Then I would argue, if the terms are so broad then people, if they are interested in protecting free speech, should err on the side of caution, and not dive into censorship.
2. Obviously incitement to violence and threats is not free speech, but *drumroll* VIOLENCE! And should be treated as such. "Offensive speech" is not inherently violent and should be protected by the freedom of speech.
3. Fine, to humor you, let's strike out "fascist" and write "totalitarian". Although I would still strongly argue for that the government dictating what is proper and not proper to utter is, you know;

If you weren't white or male, as the poll results suggest (non-whites and women being more supportive), you would be more subjected to offensive statements targeting your character based upon your appearance or heritage.

So you probably would have a different opinion, yeah. The Baby Boomers and Gen X were all in eras where institutional, legally-enshrined racism was still a major part of the US. The millennials are the only generation entirely out of that era, of course they'd be more supportive of limiting offensive speech.

To be fair, a significant number of those in the highly educated levels will be of the older generations that generally are against limiting offensive speech.
