Background: Tamara was born in 1976 in the village of Santa Maria, located in the southern portions of Calaverde. She came to majority under the rule of hated Junta. In 2003 a group of Junta soldiers abducted her and several other women from Santa Maria to use them as comfort women. Tamara resisted the rapes until an ERL assault led by future husband David Vera Cruz on the compound rescued her and the other women. Tamara joined up with the ERL, and soon began a whirlwind romance with David, culminating in their marriage in 2005. Although a fierce fighter, Tamara eventually retired from a combat role in 2008 due to her pregnancy with her and David's first child, Emilio. Following the final fall of the Junta and the formation of the new Republic, Tamara has become an active leader in the local community. Two years ago she was elected as the Executive Director of the local farming and ranching coop, and she serves on the board of a number of charities and political organizations, including the Calaverdean Organization of Women and the San Cristobal Arts Society.

Background: Hervé was born on August 15 1945 in Reims, France, to his father Jerôme and his mother Marie. Jerôme Charbonneau worked for the French government, and in 1957 he was sent as the French Ambassador to Calaverde, bringing his wife and only son with him. While his father worked in the city, Hervé and his mother lived in a countryside villa in Benitez, a village in rural Calaverde. Hervé was raised as a Calaverdean, but always maintained ties to his home country and continent. In 1963, Hervé returned to France and attended HEC Paris, completing an MBA in 1968. Hervé worked as an investment banker in Paris before returning to Calaverde in 1970. Since then, he worked as a Senior Manager at Bessemer Holdings' Financial Division before taking an interest into local politics. Elected Mayor of Benitez in 1984 and maintaining the position through to 2015, until the Junta was deposed, Hervé stood for Member of Parliament of the constituency of Benitez as an Independent. In the third election, he stood as a New Democrat.
In June 2015, after Regina Marino's resignation from politics and her subsequent disappearance, Hervé was appointed Interim Economics Spokesperson for his party.

Article 29 of the Constitutive Act of the African Union (ratified July 11, 2000), states:
Any African State may, at any time after the entry into force of this Act, notify the Chairman of the Commission of its intention to accede to this Act and to be admitted as a member of the Union.
Article 49 (formerly Article O) of the Treaty on European Union (TEU)[4] or Maastricht Treaty states that any European country that respects the principles of the EU may apply to join. Countries' classification as European is "subject to political assessment"[5] by the Commission and more importantly—the European Council.
