Ranger App

Name: Marilee Coaltas
Age: 19
Appearance
Sex: Female
Gender: Female
Birthplace: Celadon, Kanto
Moral alignment: Neutral Good

Biography: Born and dropped off at an orphanage in the Kanto region, Marilee was adopted at age five by a couple from the Kalos region, which they moved to shortly after. Home was found in Laverre city, and to help Marilee feel more at ease they got her a Pokemon egg, which hatched into an Eevee that she named 'Nix'. With Nix, Marilee spent many a day wandering though the woods around Laverre, always trusting her friend to keep her from falling into any serious trouble.

When Marilee was ten, the two of them were separated while playing hide-and-seek, and Marilee became lost in the forest. Frightened and wandering ever deeper into the thick woods, Marilee dd not realize that the sun had nearly set, and that the Phantumps and Trevenants which called Laverre's forests home were stalking and herding her through the trees. Nix knew the danger though, and spent the entire night tracking Marilee's scent and footsteps through the tangled undergrowth. Nix found her friend just at the moment a Trevenant moved to steal her away, and attacked the Ghost with reckless abandon. Knowing that she was at an extreme disadvantage against the assembled Phantumps and Trevenants, Nix knew that she had no way to actually stop them all, but hoped that she could at least provide a distraction so that Marilee could run away; but then, to everyone's great surprise, Nix evolved into an Umbreon. Her selfless act in protecting Marilee had triggered the evolution, and gave Nix the strength to chase the Phantumps and Trevenants away.

Marilee's parents were furious and thankful in equal measure, when she returned home the next morning, and forbid her from entering the forest for the next six months. Not one to have her curiosity held back for any reason, Marilee entered the forest again not a week later, this time intentionally when the sun was setting. With Nix's help, she asked the Phantumps to take her to wherever it was they had been, before Nix had intervened. They led her deep into the forest, eventually leading her to a work site where a group of Trainers dressed in fancy red suits were illegally logging the trees at an alarming rate. The Phantumps and Trevenants were kept back by a handful of Darmanitan, which kept them at bay with Psychic attacks while in Zen mode. Marilee devised a plan, where the Phantumps and Trevenants would threatening the Darmanitans and make them enter Zen mode, at which point Nix would jump in to finish them off; a simple, though solid, strategy. The plan worked beautifully, and after the Trainers called back their Darmanitans the Phantumps and Trevenants quickly overran the operation, smashing the equipment and chasing the offenders out of the forest.

It was this event that inspired Marilee to become a Pokemon Ranger, a goal which she spent the next six years working towards, successfully become a Ranger a few months after her sixteenth birthday. She dedicated herself to combating the ecologically harmful activities of Team Flare. However, upon hearing of the invasion of Hoenn by the Rule Coalition Marilee suspended her battle against Team Flare, and raced to the embattled region to assist in its liberation.

Partner Pokemon:
  • Umbreon "Nixyra"
  • Female
  • Synchronize
  • Moveset:
    • Confuse Ray
    • Toxic
    • Moonlight
    • Dark Pulse
  • History/Personality: Nix was given to Marilee, while still an egg, by her parents. The two friends grew up side by side in the forests surrounding Laverre, getting into all sorts of trouble and adventure. Nix evolved into an Umbreon one night, while protecting Marilee from a group of Phantumps and Trevenants. Oddly enough, Marilee became fast friends with the spirits that wandered through Laverre's forests, though Nix never entirely forgave them for putting Marilee in danger. When Marilee went to train as a Ranger, Nix became her Parnter, and travelled with her friend wherever she went.

Nix is extremely proud of her bond with Marilee, and acts very aloof around Pokemon which she captures with her Styler. Nix will boss them around in an imperious manner, and sometimes has to be reprimanded by Marilee for taking things a bit too far. Though Nix knows that Marilee would never abandon her for another Pokemon (as if she would let her!) she can't help but feel a little bit threatened by any newcomer, however temporary they may be. Around the Partners of other Rangers, or Pokemon with Trainers, Nix is perfectly amiable if somewhat vain about her own abilities. When Nix knows ahead of time that she will be meeting such Pokemon she goes to great effort to preen her coat, and demands that Marilee brush it for her until it shines; very uncharacteristic under any other circumstances.

Optional Section:

Personality: Unlike her Partner, Nix, Marilee tends to be somewhat withdrawn from other people and very open with Pokemon. Which isn't to say that she has any trouble interacting with people, only that she feels more at ease in group social situations with Pokemon. She is also stubbornly devoted to the complete destruction of Team Flare, and has pursued that goal with a single-minded determination her entire career. Her end-game is to gather enough evidence to bring down Malva, of Kalos' Elite Four and a confessed member of Team Flare. As of yet, she has not found anything which would allow her to arrest Malva, or otherwise justify taking direct action against her.
Likes: Eeveelutions, sleeping under the stars, simple foods, beating up members of Team Flare.
Dislikes: Narcissism, arrogant pricks, and orange suits; so, basically, Team Flare. Oh, and people that try to hurt the environment, 'cause she's a Ranger and all. Also, bigots.

That gives my app some problems, considering Cubone would be some 10 or 12 years old and Rhydon ~40...
I could make it in such way that they never had a pokéball or something if that's alright... At the start i will only have Rhydon to fight, Cubone will become a pain in the ass more or less, now if Asina would be in real trouble he would probably do something but otherwise he won't fight at the beginning either. Hippopotas is just scared of fighting so won't do anything at the beginning either except from keeping the other company.

Actually, it isn't. I don't have any real proof, but I know it isn't.

Though Faal, I don't really like the sound of a Rotom, TBH. He's not legendary, but he is rare, like you said. I just don't really want someone starting with that.

How about I just have a Rotom that just really likes one form, and never changes from it?

Not that he'd be likely to show up in Dewford. He'd be more likely to.be found in Rustboro, Lilycove, or Mossdeep.

However, the Resistance does have the home of Latias/Latios in their hands.

If we follow Pokemon movie logic, then both of them are completely sentient and able to take human form. I see them as possible high-ranking members of the resistance

Well, we aren't. We're following Game Logic. Therefore, only Zorua and Zoroark can become Human.

Then it wouldn't be Rotom. Rotom loves possessing objects. I don't see any reason he would stick to one form.

Good morning,
I wanted to ask, if it would be okay to not only play as a member of Team Rocket (yes, I saw the "Team Member" section in the Apps), but also as Domino, the secondary antagonist from Mewtwo Returns?

If so, the App would look something like
Team Member App
Name: Domino
Age: 27
Appearance: Blonde and dangerous - a bit cliche, if you ask me!
Sex: Female
Gender: Female
Birthplace: Officially unknown (Celadon City, Kanto)
Moral alignment: Lawful Evil

Biography:
Domino, or the Black Tulip, codenumber 009, has a biography, which is shrouded in a veil and kept away by her at next to all costs. Only three people know her full biography, she and Giovanni being two of them.
She was born in Celadon City as daughter to a simple worker and his wife. They weren't poor, but not rich either. She had a good upbringing, education and even got her father to send her to learn martial arts - the first major turning point in her life was, when her mother got died in a car accident. Her father buried himself deep in his work, became foreman at his company, bringing fortune to his daughter, but neglected her during puberty, which proved to be a grave mistake when she got to know the wrong people.
Combined with the almost traditional "I hate my parents"-phase, she began to turn to a less then honest life. During that time, she got her first Pokémon, Havoc, a Houndour (after the Shakespeare-Quote: "Cry 'Havoc!', and let slip the Houndours of war!"). She ran away from home to live together with her gang and its leader, but got ditched, when she screwed up a burglary in Viridian City.
It wasn't the police, who caught her - Giovanni himself laid justice upon her: He saw potential and skill. Joining Team Rocket was the second major turning point.
Although she was the Boss' protégé, Domino worked herself up all the way in record time, using people thrice her age and experience as stepping stones, becoming one of the Hands, an Elite Officer only answering to Giovanni and no one else. Many envy her position and power, but she can not only defend it, but also live responsibly with it, including being on real first-name basis with Giovanni.

Pokemon:
  • "Havoc", a Houndour
  • Male
  • Ability: Flash Fire
  • Moveset:
    • 1: Fire Fang
    • 2: Crunch
    • 3: Smog
    • 4: Howl
  • History/Personality: Havoc, named after a Shakespeare Quote "Cry 'Havoc!', and let slip the Houndours of war!", was obtained by Domino during her time as a criminal, but during one of the very few times her father took her out to eat and maybe talk about things. He wasn't stolen or something, but came to her because she had pizza and he was hungry. While her father wanted to chase the starving little cub away, Domino gave him of her slice.
Soon, the two of them became friends, much to her father's dismay (guess where he stayed, when the two of them were at home), where he even slept in her bed.
He defended her fiercely, when it was needed and created smog-screens when it wasn't - even during the night, where they were ditched, but to no use. When she became a member of Team Rocket, he, too, joined and rose in the ranks.
He always refused to evolve, Domino suspecting (correctly), that he feared, that he then wouldn't be allowed onto her bed anymore.

Havoc is a fiercely loyal little Houndour, not very much off a battler, but capable to hold his own in a fight. He loves his misstress as if she was one of his own and sees her and her other Pokémon as his pack.
He also loves pizza, especially Pizza quattro formaggi and its cheese.

  • Juliet, a Nidorina
  • Female
  • Ability: Poison Point
  • Moveset:
    • 1: Poison Sting
    • 2: Double Kick
    • 3: Toxic Spikes
    • 4: Flatter
  • History/Personality: Juliet, named after the female lead of a Shakespeare play, was caught by Domino and Havoc on a mission to catch wild Pokémon, one of her first jobs. Because she did so well on that particular mission, she was allowed to choose a Pokémon to keep - she took the female Nidoran, the one, who later became Juliet.
They completed several missions together, Juliet only slowly starting to trust Domino and Havoc, but worked it out. She was essential in Domino's ascension to become a Lieutenant, years before becoming an Elite Officer - and she was essential after that, too, especially her Toxic Spiked.

Juliet likes her Misstress, although not as much as Havoc, but sees the Houndour as a sort-of brother (although the pack-thing grates on her nerves sometimes). She also has a thing for strong-looking Nidokings and strong looking Pokémon in general (including a crush on Giovanni's Ridon). She doesn't hold it against Domino to give Havoc more cuddlings and to let him sleep with her in the same bed - she knows, that her back-spikes are not very comfortable and that the poison in them is not good for humans, either.
Her favourite food is a good salad.

Optional Section:
Personality: Domino is very objective-oriented, but has a strict code of honour (no wasting of ressources, no fights one can't win, if a matter can be resolved to Team Rocket's advantage without force, then do so, follow orders, but reinterpret when necessary). She loves her job and her Pokémon, who are her family. She is educated, sklillfull, good looking and well aware of all of that. Domino is loyal to her boss.
Likes: Havoc and Juliet, Shakespeare, tulips, slow days (spent with reading).
Dislikes: Wasting of ressources, idiots, disloyalty, incompetence, loosing.

So... I see several problems with this app: Domino is high ranking, has underlings and (in this setup) relatively powerful, if not fully evolved, Pokémon. As Giovanni's right hand, she has power and influence. This, if handled incorrectly, could act as a game-breaker.
However, I want to play her in a rather passive role, hunting for the resistence and similar elements via good old Sherlock Holmes Methods, and only later, when the others can be seen as ready, actively in battle. Her Pokémon are both to be seen as passive capabilities as well, Havoc as the search-dog and intimidation factor, Juliet as the roadblocker (any new catches would then be trained in similar fashion as well). And she will follow her orders, only reinterpreting them if it is against her personal code (as seen above). Would that be okay?
(If wanted, I can provide RP-samples in order to proof my capability.)

Signed,
Selkie

EDIT: Abilities added into the App due to Command of the OP (underlined). Second edit due to formatting errors.

Signed,
Selkie

Hmm. Temp and I are mostly going by the Core Game Series, not the anime, but I'll allow it for now.
My favorite games are the Pokemon Games. Shoot me a TG if you want to talk about them.

Here are my ideas:

1. A self-centered and cocky Team Magma member (always been a fan of Magma over Aqua) with an EV trained Power Trick Shuckle. Or Swagplay Klefki if I'm feeling generous.

2. A Youngster resistance fighter with a Bidoof and a Smeargle, both Moody

3. A Funbro trainer, no matter which side. Get ready for a trip to Slowbro paradise.

4. Tobias (the guy who rekt Ash in the Sinnoh league) before he got Darkrai

Which one should I choose? I can write coherent backstories for each one if I wanted to.

Choose whichever, so long as they aren't legendary or fully evolved.

I'm assuming EV training and all those competitive gimmicky moves won't have nearly as much power in this?

Yep. They still grant more power, but not as much.

Yeah.....that would be really shitty, if you ask me.

Shiet. There goes my Altaria plan.
I mean, Altaria isn't that OP, especially if it's the only Pokemon on the team, right?

After a quick consult with Bulbapedia... It starts at level 36. I'm a little hesitant, so I'll leave it up to Temp.

I need to find a character theme and find a good reason for it to be the remix of the Deoxys theme.

I don't see why not. You seem to know what you're doing. Just don't make it OP. Is this the completely finished app?

Your only Pokemon? Sure. Maybe 2 Pokemon. Altaria's pretty good.

Anything else I missed?

I could use recommendations for a third team member. I have a Gabite and a Pawniard already, and my fella is from Unova. Ideas?

Well, what kind of Pokemon do you want? An offensive sweeper (likely special, because your team so far lacks one) or some kind of wall? Or a utility Pokemon?

I myself would recommend the Volcarona, Starmie or Greninja lines for a more balanced team.
