What is your national mascot or personification?

Postby Conservative Alliances » Tue Jun 22, 2010 1:04 pm

Just as the title says, what is your nation's mascot or representation be it a real person, animal, cartoon, etc.?
EDIT: Or national personification.

Here is ours:

Limbaugh Island was founded on conservative ideals, by conservative men and women. Along with these ideals they brought six Bald Eagles, intended to start a local population here on the Island.

Bald Eagles are so important that shooting one is a Federal offense, carrying severe penalties.

Harley, the Bald Eagle picture above, is currently seen as the national mascot, if you will. Harley is housed at Rush National Zoo.

The United States of America had Uncle Sam. It is less about any attempt at propaganda in our country than it is an easy way to express our nation beyond the use of a flag. It is used in a unofficial manner, of course.

Alphonse is a sort of mascot. His status may change though if he's elected President, which seems like a possibility according to the opinion polls. Some might argue that being a mascot is beneath the dignity of the office of President.

(For the record, there is no particular aversion to eating ducks in Fatatatutti, though Alphonse objects strenuously to being eaten himself.)

The Raven is the national symbol of Augarundus; it is the personification of Augarundus on an international scale.

Though Augarundus is a small nation, its status as an economic, cultural, and technological superpower gives it the cartoon-perception of a raven (in the northernmost part of the globe; Augarundus) with wings overlapping the rest of the world. Augarians, due to their hooked noses, black hair, and traditionally medieval-Gothic culture (as well as a very dark, miserable history), are often caricatured as Ravens.

The first Kaiser of the Ivanov family was also named "Raven" (actually, "Rabe"; Augarian for Raven).

Capitalism is always the answer. Whenever there's a problem in capitalism, you just need some more capitalism. If the solution isn't capitalism, then it's not really a problem. If your capitalism gets damaged, you just need to throw some capitalism on it and get on with your life.

Our national personification is depicted in the form of the statue Rhodian Enlightenment (also known as Lumières Rhodien or Illuminismo Rodi), which is itself a statue of the personification of reason, erected in the capital city of Valentia in 1859. Rhodian Enlightenment commemorates the change of government from an absolute monarchy to a constitutional monarchy in 1809 during the Rhodian Revolution. It is a man wearing a radiant crown and cloth, and carrying a torch in his raised right hand . As it stands on Île d'Aquin on the eastern part of the Rousseau River, it 'protects' the capital city of Valentia and stands as a testament to the great freedom granted to each and every Rhodian. Rhodian Enlightenment is a global icon of our nation, a grand testament to the values of freedom, life, and reason, and it is one of the most visited monuments in Greater Rhodes

In the Queen's park there are several foxes. Some are entirely wild, others have gotten accostumed to visitors. One of them is usually picked for a life long reign as the mascot, and upon their death, one of their cubs is chosen (usually in a popular contest, among school children. The schoolchildren also pick names for all foxes in the park as new ones are born). These foxes are depicted everywhere, from mugs to embroideries to t-shirts. They are also the subject of many other interpretations that, while respectful, tend to reflect the spirit of the times such as this popular t-shirt design among teenagers: click .

We have several mascots representing Kalakda, all Elephants, our national animal and widely adored by the general populace.

There's Eddy the Elephant and his mother Elly, unofficial mascots and stars of a very popular cartoon show:

And then, there's Vladimir the Elephant the official mascot and persona of the Republic, he's the Elephant in our national seal:

Grandfather Tyler

Postby TurtleShroom » Wed Jun 23, 2010 3:41 pm

TurtleShroom's answer to Uncle Sam is Grandfather Tyler.

A human personification of TurtleShroom, he is an unappealling old man with the best interests of the people at heart. Grandfather Tyler is always willing to help people do the right thing, and he has memorized the Bible, or so the profile says. Grandfather Tyler is ugly because a pure, incorruptilbe government is pretty much the exact opposite of what a government is supposed to be. In his right hand, he holds scales (symbolizing justice), and in his left, a golden cross. He wears a necklace of the TurtleShroom seal and his crown (symbolizing national sovereignity) reads "RULE OF LAW" on it.

His sidekick, Poor Nephew Moneybags, was recently added by our corporations.
