SAI Stanley Mark II Self-Defense Weapon

Postby Allanea » Thu Jan 15, 2015 6:36 am

Souraski Arms International ‘Stanley’ Mark 2 Self-Defense Weapon

Caliber: 9x19mm parabellum
Weight: 2.95 kg empty
Length: 794mm stock extended
Barrel Length: 200mm
Rate of Fire 600 rpm
Magazine capacity 32 rounds (larger-capacity aftermarket magazines are available)

Souraski Arms International has been founded in Liberty-City by Eoihanna Souraski, a Teaching Assistant in English Studies at the University of Concord. Concerned with the high prices of firearms and limited opportunity for poor people, especially those living in developing nations, to purchase firearms, Eiohanna worked with an engineer to develop a series of firearms designed specifically to minimize price and maximize availability to underprivileged persons.

Produced by Soraski Arms International, the “Stanley” was a modification of the venerable Sten submachinegun for the modern era. Produced strictly as a cheap self-defence firearm for civilians and militiamen in countries where ownership of such weapons was permitted by law, the Stanley Submachinegun, like the original STEN, is a blowback operated weapon firing from an open-bolt. Like the original STEN, it maintains a set of primitive iron sights sighted in for 100 yards.

Several changes have been made from the STEN Mark II the skeletonized stock has been made folding, and a rail shape had been welded to the top for the addition of optics should the user desire them. (That the optics will likely cost more than the gun itself is neither here nor there). A crude pistol grip has been attached to the gun. Like in the MP-3008, the magazine has been made bottom-loading, for improved ergonomics.

In all other aspects, the advantages of modern CNC machining and robot stamping have been used to make the gun as simple to produce as possible, lowering retail price to a mere $100. Both a select-fire and a semi-auto version are available at retail throughout Allanea.anaround te world.

Are you a working-class, ordinary man? A young person who just started out living on his own? Unable to afford a fancy AR-15 or FN-FGR? Are you perhaps the inhabitant of a developing country? Then the Stanley Mk II is the firearm for you. Simple, cheap, easy to maintain and upgrade, it is the disadvantaged world wide.

And it has other roles too! A survivalist looking to stockpile a quantity of guns to arm your neighbors when TSHTF? We are here for you! Just wire us $1000, and we will send out a package of 10 Stanley Mark II submachineguns in a single crate.

We ship the Stanley Mk II all around the globe, including legally restrictive environments. You can either order them within the confines of your laws, or attempt and get it under the RADAR through smuggling networks, we don’t mind (but we are not responsible if the gun doesn’t make it through to your address, or if you get caught!)

Note: Because of Eoihanna Soraski’s political views, the gun is not available for government purchases. Eoihanna Soraski will not sell this gun for use by military forces or law enforcement groups. The only exceptions are either private militaries, or government programs aimed to arm civilians (like the Civilian Marksmanship Program).

We at Soraski Arms International remain dedicated to our cause of providing self-defense products for the poor and disadvantaged. We are happy to respond to customer queries at all times.

A Hiluxian’s review of the Stanley Mark II
As a commander in the Hiluxian Army of the Unified Republic, I’m generally expected to always have a weapon on me, and that I do. However, as of late, scrounging up weaponry in Hiluxia has actually become rather difficult, due to a variety of reasons. Naturally, when I heard about the Stanley Mark II’s outrageously cheap price, I knew I had to get some for me and my men. Now that we’ve finally gotten our hands on some, I must respectfully say that they’re, for lack of better terms, a rather mixed bag.

First off, I must say that the ergonomics of this weapon are practically nonexistent. No matter what, almost all of my men felt some discomfort, and the pistol grip is an utter joke. Secondly, they are generally inaccurate, both in ‘field testing’ and in any range we could find, it oftentimes could barely hit someone standing a few yards away. Thirdly, while the gun is generally ‘reliable’ in the sense that it’ll fire whenever you pull the trigger, it does on occasion like to fire when you’re not holding the trigger, and that can be a bit of a problem.

Despite these issues, I must say, for its utterly cheap price, readily available ammo, at least here, and general reliability, it is very much a ‘you get what you paid for’ design.

BRB am getting shot at, will continue review later.

On behalf of NEmtel Home Armaments Emporium and its subsidiaries, I would like to order 325 crates of your select fire Stanley shootymajiggeys, and would also like to offer to you and your company a deal to test market any future made firearms within our stores located across Riemaia, if that is something you would be interested in doing.

Dear Shera!

I am of course very happy to do this, and will happily send you thse crates. I believe we should work together on building an ad campaign in your nation’s markets, which would reach out to your citizens both in ordinary press and in the firearm-oriented media. I hope that this is something that you find to be satisfactory and conducive to both your interests and our own.

Sincerely yours,

Kouralian Armourers say "No" to new Allanean 'Supergun'

Mainland Office and Ministry of Commerce said to support decision

Today the Kouralian Royal Army and Vygelas aþ’Tesoro have announced that the much-vaunted 'Soraski Arms International ‘Stanley’ Mark 2 Self-Defense Weapon' will unfortunately not be made available for purchase by Kouralian citizens - this despite the rumours that KAE SYSTEMS could seek to coordinate imports and assist in it reaching as large a market as possible. Speaking on the matter, Vice-Commander Nale of the Treasury Guard's Import and Export Commission said the decision had been informed on 'an inability to procure example weapons for the statute-mandated appraisal and categorisations.' He apologised for the disruption and said that the Vygeans regretted causing any distress or anger through barring this weapon from the Kouralian markets. Described as a 'supergun' on occasion by the Guild of Musketry for its ability to bring the ability to practice and develop that skill to people anywhere and everywhere, it is now next likely to be seen being drawn from smugglers' crates by the Treasury Guard.

As a Class I Weapon, the Stanley Mk2 is now unable to be legally imported, owned, sold or purchased in any condition that is 'usable for primary function'. This does not include those which have been machined and rendered inoperable, or those which are specifically manufactured to fire only blank ammunition and are purchased by licensed Cinematographical Armourers. If the weapon was able to be purchased by the Royal School of Musketry of the Kouralian Army to be appraised and categorised then it was likely to receive a Class III designation in all forms on account of its size and a number of other features.

Official Message from Eoihanna Sorasky to the Royal School of Musketry of the Kouralian Army

Dear Sir/Madam!

As you understand, I am personally an anarchist, and for this reason cannot provide arms to a government police department or a military force for the purpose of arming themselves. However I am fully willing to provide arms for the purposes of study, or for the purposes of arming citizenry. If it is necessary, I will sell your organization testing submachineguns, with the understanding that they're used for study as required by your regulations. I am doing this purely for the benefit of Kouralian citizens - and of course, my own wallet.

Subject: Procurement

To the above-named individual and their duly appointed employees,

Following receipt of the forwarded message from Colonel Green of the Royal School of Musketry, it has been passed to myself for reply. In order to reverse the currently legally binding decision of this Commission under S34 of the Firearms and Munitions Regulation Act 1994 we require the following:
  • 20x Stanley Mk2 Select Fire
  • 20x Stanley Mk2 Semi-Automatic
They will be used for testing to evaluate what classification the firearm should be given under Kouralian Law. Following this purpose they become the property of the School of Musketry and will be stored and used by that organisation for needs as seen fit. Another 50 have been requested for 'appraisal purposes' by the Office of the Royal Adjutant Clerks, who are employed personally by Alyxandra Campbell (emphasis as in communique from ORAC). Following 'appraisal', these weapons will be retained by the Office and stored as appropriate. These purchases are not optional with regard to altering the current classification of the weapon by the Kouralian Government.

Thank you for contacting the Vygelas aþ’Tesoro for your needs,
VCdr Nale

Dear Ms. Soraski:

Your firearm is of interest to our companies due to its utilitarian, populist nature. As such, the Russian-American Investment and Development Corporation (hereinafter RAID) and its subsidiary "Lady Gracie's Import-Export Enterprise" (hereinafter "The Enterprise" and all variant words thereof) seek your permission to purchase significant quantities of the Stanley Mk. 2 into target markets for distribution solely for sales to non-governmental users and/or distribution by governments solely as part of programs which distribute firearms to civilians, per the terms of the brochure.

Details are on the form itself:

How many guns will your nation’s citizens order per year?: 1,000,000
Are those select-fire guns or semi-auto only? [x] Select-fire [ ]Semi-auto [] A mix [specify]
Are they being bought legally or illegally? []Legally [ ]illegally [x ] A mix, See Below

Regarding Shipment, in Response to Question 3: Shipments into the CRE are to be completely legal and above board for sales by local distributors; these constitute 60% of the total annual delivery load. The remaining 40% of the total annual delivery load are to sales outlets in the Ravenstenskian cities of Kherson and Sevastopol to be managed by The Enterprise. Given the ongoing threat of war in Ravenstenskia between residents of those regions and the government in charge, the shipments must be conducted with utmost secrecy and security to avoid interception by government forces.

Additionally, we would like to inquire as to possible conversions or variants in different calibers (e.g. .45ACP, 10mm Auto, 7.62x25mm Tokarev), owing to the wide variety of cartridges in the Dornalian marketplace. We hope this arrangement proves satisfactory, and welcome any inquiries you may have. Payment shall be delivered upon confirmation, in the form of unmarked gold bullion bars conforming to Good Delivery standards delivered by secure courier.

NOTE: Per-year orders by gun suppliers may taper off after the first few years.

OOC: This gun looked a lot more awesome for my country... and then I realized that my average salary per citizen is ~$300,000NSD, with little salary-gap between the richest and poorest citizenry. Meaning this would probably be considered a "fun gun," by most in my nation, who pretty much buys firearms like a higher-end AR-15 as a "my first gun."
Fun fact: Despite the relatively small disparity in salaries, Pharthan isn't socialist at all. Go full capitalist and rid yourself of corruption. Everyone wins and you do equality the right (and rich) way.

Also:From "Trigger Happy Magazine"

The Stanley Mk II – what is there to complain about really?
Ben Poraz

The SAI Stanley Mk II arrived in a simple case. It is a simple gun. One 32 round magazine was included with the little SMG.

Clearly based on the venerable Sten, the Stanley is not going to win any beauty contests. The SMG is no more than a piece of pipe with some springs, just like its ancestor. But really, where are you going to find a new production Sten?

The finish and fitting is not wonderful, but it is accurate. Accurate enough for an open bolt subgun. This is not a gun to take to competitions. It suffers from many of the ailments of the original Sten. It will however put holes into targets, and it is cheap as dirt!
The Stanley retails at roughly 90 Shekels a gun, which means you can have two of them for roughly the price of a used ARI-72. And while it may not be as accurate or hard hitting as the Barak, and not nearly as reliable, it really does not need to be. It is a subgun. It shoots 9mm rounds rapidly and with sufficient accuracy in the 0-75 meters range. It is compact.

The folding stock and pistol grip make it a tad more convenient compared to the Sten, and the optics rail allow you to put a cheap red-dot or other optic on it. Don't bother with a scope, you are not going to do any sniping with this thing! I would love to see them put rails on the bottom of the weapon as well, as I feel a laser or flashlight would probably be more useful with this thing…

Recoil is manageable, trigger pull is…Well, it’s an open bolt SMG, the trigger pull is exactly what you expect…But who cares, its costs less than dinner for two at a half decent restaurant. Accuracy…Well again, this is a 90 Shekel open bolt SMG.
I see this gun being bought by people who want to have fun with a submachine gun but can't afford a high end model. Certainly, some militia branches will want it, possibly as a weapon for vehicle crews. It might even make a decent car-gun, as it is quite compact.

The bottom line is, the Stanley has many drawbacks, but for 90 Shekels, what is there to complain about really?

How many guns will your nation’s citizens order per year?: it is estimated thousands of the SAI Stanley Mark II are being used by numerous paramilitary and terrorist groups often with encouragement from the Bashriyya government who rarely takes action against it if its being sold to a friendly group or person, it is the 2nd most common gun in every household in Bashriyya with the first being the AKM. The exact number being 900,000 guns ordered by various active paramilitary, mercenary, militia, vigilante, pirate and terrorist groups.
