Before we will follow on your application and connect our storylines together, I would like to first humbly ask the following question.

By its very nature, I am now running the Bank of Yohannes as a sensibly roleplayed in-character institution. As such, anything with 'arms manufacturing' will be a big red flag due to the generally very poor quality way arms manufacturing roleplaying are done in NationStates.

Would it be okay with you if we cross out the 'arms manufacturing' bit under the 'If stated as YES, how do you want us to invest your money' part? So in-character wise we will assume nothing will go towards arms manufacturing (or anything like that)

Out-of-character wise, arms manufacturing [or at least the way it is roleplayed by the vast majority] are a huge no no in NationStates. In-character wise, no sensible entities coming from a country of the standing the Kingdom of Yohannes (and others like it) are within the international community would invest their capital or be involved - as well as risk ruining their reputation - in something like that [arms manufacturing] anyway.

In-character wise, there are far better growth to be had, and returns to be enjoyed, elsewhere. Especially if we look at the so-called 'geopolitical nature of NationStates'. If we are going to go down that well explored route, better returns to be had in the agribusiness and information technology industries (to name just two things instead of arms manufacturing).

If you are okay with us deleting that 'arms manufacturing' bit, then we will simply invest your money in the direction of the other industries you have listed (the following quoted from your original post); 'energy, resources' and 'education, social welfare, the environment [green projects], public transport.'

The tape recorder terrorist might think of himself as the people’s hero, but to the Prime Minister and the Bank Governor he was anything but. Anyone who predicted that the Government would avoid the Royal Commission’s warning into the governance of the International Private Bank of Yohannes, or spend weeks delaying it, or use the usual ‘other more important issues’ explanation was clearly in for a rude awakening. In fact, judging by the speed, the clarity and decisiveness with which it has acted, the Government seems not to have been able to wait to get amongst it. But not in the way the media had originally thought.

A vast sector, that one. Through and through blackmarket, to the black in mark; no question about that. In one simple fell swoop this week, in one breathless, dumbfounding moment of daring act, in one effortless flick of the minister’s pen, the Government effected the second coming of foreign capital protection, and enhance the way in which money laundering can be done, and wealth seizure risks mitigated, in the Kingdom of Yohannes. The opposition was caught flat footed, and the importance of the banking industry to the nation had rendered even the most ardent of Consumers and Taxpayers lobby group silent.

And there she goes shuffling, head slightly bowed, the Right Honourable Metiria Bridges; Prime Minister first, Labour leader second, and a loving wife third. But, as she continues her round of golf with the Ambassador of Maltropia in the multibillion resort of Pleasantview, I do like to think which hat she would have donned then and there. The best interest of the nation? The best interest of the party? The best interest of the extended ‘family’?

What do I know. In a country where signing up to a Cash Fund account at the Bank of Yohannes can sign you up for a round of golf with the Prime Minister him or herself, and where no capital gains tax are present so long as you have bought yourself a nice Foreign Investor pass card at the virtual marketplace gate known as the Bank of Yohannes (yes… it is literally the custom and immigration borders’ replacement for the ruling five per cent capitalist class of our world in Yohannes), surely nothing can get any weirder?

Where the Dairy giant ‘cooperative’ farmers are, well, multimillionaires (now… how many countries out there have dairy farmers amongst the cusp of their paper wealth societies?), and where the bankers invest trillions after trillions of wealth - that any wannabe Bigtopian or Maxtopian dictators of our world would be glad to have a hold of - not in the nation of their birth itself… but overseas. In more than 300 nations around the world, they say. Factories, libraries and research and development facilities. Hospitals, schools and renewable energy centres. Highways of trade and railroads of the industry.

Not in Yohannes though. The domestic market? Well, too small, they say. And so they invest overseas. The foreign investors putting their money in the Bank of Yohannes, of course, follow the lead of their Yohannesian acquaintances. And so no manufacturing industries of notable standing can be found in our nation today. I still weep secretly when I think about this occasionally here and there. Trillions of wealth, and almost next to nothing invested in our manufacturing industry and our very own labour? Yes, I still do.

The party of the market - what the Labour Party has branded themselves as for almost three decades. The irony; can you believe that? The Labour Party: party of the commercial shakers and economically right wing inclined. It used to be different though. The Labour in the party did once represent the working class of the kingdom. Well, until their elected Finance Minister went cuckoo, one day, and decided to embrace the market ideology as espoused by the World Assembly Maxtopian gnomes. He brought the Prime Minister with him too.Well, not peacefully. After all, politics without backseat Chinese whispers of ‘coup’? Yeah, right. The rest of the Cabinet followed the big man, and the now not so big man. Their centre right opposition could not believe their luck, and cheered them on. Some even thought of ditching their parties and joining the supposedly centre left Labour.

And the rest of the nation was left dumbfounded.

The market would correct itself, they say; that mantra I have heard since the event known as ‘Moochanomic’ (named after Sir Robert Moocha, the Finance Minister of that time) thoroughly changed the dynamic of the Yohannesian economy. Heavy tariffs were removed, lifted out of sight immediately without a second’s wait. Workers’ benefits and allowances for the underdogs - or ‘the terribly unproductive’ as some would say - of our society reduced. Vastly more cost efficient and reliable foreign manufactured cars - back then led by the Van Luxemburger VLT - immediately destroyed the domestic automobile industry. The Yohannes Post and Yohannes Housing Corporation were sold off overseas. The manufacturing working people; heartland of the union, lose their jobs. Oh, and in case you are wondering, the unions now? Well, they are just skeletons of their former selves.

Who prospered?

Well, tough to say really. But the conservative, rural dairy farmers who exported their top Yohannesian dairy products did. And the Bank of Yohannes. Yes, the Bank of Yohannes and the banking industry of the nation. The domestic and foreign investors that subsequently were able to expand their activities even more than ever before. The leather jacketed, slim, urban and educated financial gurus. The business, law and science graduates. But not the hard working working class, that was for sure.

And as the Bank of Yohannes further prospered, the first world phenomenon known as political money launderings marked their presence more profoundly domestically. They are first world phenomenon, for the economic scale of the Bank of Yohannes ensures that their values are estimated to be worth around the trillions mark. And of course, doubtfully ‘pretty legal’ assets included.

The tape recorder terrorist is in fact a hero. Just maybe after all, for he exposed the conversation of our certain Prime Minister with the Governor of the Bank. Of course, the vast majority of the public are by now accustomed already to the more ‘sophisticated’ aspects of our nation’s banking industry. But when the name ‘Korena’ and the word ‘arrested’ were mentioned in a somewhat disinterested manner, it was then that the result was as good as a goner. No longer were the names vaguely hinted; the recorded evidence with specific names and situations included were there. The protest movements were quick to make their mark known. The Greenies had to join in the parade too. Deary me.

‘Asian corruption pervading the nation’, ran The People’s Herald headline. ‘Yellow money unwelcomed’, ran another. “Why the word ‘Asian’, why not say the name of the country of origin where the corrupt officials originate from itself”, questioned one social blogger by the name of ‘Michael Chuyong’. “Shame on you xenophobic writers pandering to the cause of racial tension…”, another comment posted by ‘David Yeng’.

I personally am fine with writing with fantasy nations (in fact I have quite a lot of NationStates acquaintances from the fantasy roleplaying community), but there are others who have signed up to include their nations' existence with this bank that may dislike seeing their nations indirectly connected (in-character storyline wise) to something not very modern technology.

It was with some dismay that we learned last week of the bank's decision to associate with, and fund, the Yohannes 'Hunger Games' tournament.

Our displeasure at this revelation cannot be understated. First of all, the ethical concerns: the Menelmacari and C'tani position on slavery is of course well-known. The practice of forcing children to participate in battles to the death is unquestionably slavery, and is unconscionable on so many levels as to beggar quantification. That Yohannes the nation has fallen so far as to embrace such barbarism saddens us deeply; however, doing something about that is the purview of the C'tani and Menelmacari governments and militaries, should they choose to do so. However, as owners of the Bank, we are doing about it what we can, and we will not have our funds associated with or spent on the Hunger Games.

Moreover, funding the tournament to the extent that it does, specifically an 'unlimited' prize for the winners, is a gross dereliction of the Bank's fiduciary responsibility to its shareholders. Given unlimited funds, a given winner's spending may easily go into the billions and even trillions of credits. Such a commitment makes the Bank thoroughly unable to project its financial situation into the future and risks both cash flow and credit rating. Further, divestments by investors who feel as we do about the Hunger Games will adversely affect the market capitalization of the Bank, likely to many thousands of times the actual financial outlay for prizes.

As such we conducted a referendum of the membership over the last several days. After tabulating the results, the Shareholders' Association has found an overwhelming consensus in opposition to the Bank's association with this tournament, on the order of 99.8% percent. We have also found an overwhelming consensus, on the order of 97.4%, in favor of taking direct action to curb that association, in defense of the Bank and of our ethical and financial concerns.

As you are probably already aware, we at the Menelmacari and C'tani Bank of Yohannes Shareholders' Association represent the overwhelming majority of C'tani and Menelmacari shareholders of the Bank of Yohannes, and as such represent the single largest voting bloc among Bank shareholders by a vastly considerable margin. It has been therefore resolved that if the Bank does not publicly condemn the Hunger Games tournament and immediately cease all funding and association with same, that the Shareholders' Association will, at the earliest opportunity, move and vote to fire the chairman, the CEO and the entirety of the board, and replace them with candidates more amenable to our position.

The fact that you have not contacted me first through telegrams is a bit strange. I don't mind going along with this scenario you have in mind. But, I must ask:

why not telegram me first? don't you have enough respect for me as someone who actually have spent the time to create this storefront? or do you think things such as cooperation, respect for your fellow roleplayers, and other actual meaning to true storytelling are not as important as competitive ambition to dominate others?

Note that you are at the complete mercy of I, as the opening poster and creator of this storefront. The fact that I have given you my permission to fictionally 'own' anything is not a sign that I think you are out of character wise superior than I am. It is, in fact, a sign that I am willing to let other players - who do not need to spend the time to even bother making this storefront - to have a piece - percentage of ownership - of this fictional business concept.
