Coat Check

We offer long and short term luggage storage service, or check your winter coat when heading to warm destinations for just $2 NSD/day. Visit Securalock Services in Terminal 2 and Terminal 3.

Free Baggage Carts

With support from our partner, McNeil Shipworks, Artio International offers FREE baggage carts. In 2013, 7,000 new baggage carts were introduced to replace 3,600 pay-per-use carts, as a way to improve the overall travel experience at Artio International.

ARTS AND ENTERTAINMENT

Our Permanent Collection

In 2004, Artio International asked local artists to create works that represent the Kingdom of Aigéantir, while capturing the essence of flight. More than 400 submissions were received, and fifty were selected as permanent installations. Look for them as you make your way through the airport.

Changing Exhibition Spaces

Artio International also has several changing exhibition spaces in locations throughout Terminal 4, courtesy of the Royal Aigéantir Museum and Gallery. You can find out more about our unique art program by emailing our curator directly at curator@ramag.ka

History of Flight

On special loan from the Aigéantir War Museum are several amazing pieces of aircraft history, including a Supermarine Spitfire and ME-262!

Artio International Airport strives to ensure that our travelers are well looked after, and with over 50 stalls each in Terminal 1, 2, and 3, and with over 100 stalls in Terminal 4, travelers are bound to find that special souvenir or needed services while waiting for their flight. ABOUT ARTIO INTERNATIONAL

HISTORY
First built in 1940 as a military base, and wartime airforce training station, Artio International was designed as a multi-purpose military field, the airport was used for flight training, air navigation, telegraphy, and air gunnery. After World War II, the airport transitioned from a military establishment into a public facility in 1955.

After 10 long years, Artio International Airport (IATA: ATO, ICAO: AATO) was opened as the main airport and only international airport in the Kingdom of Aigéantir, and included the following major improvements:

- Construction of a new east-west runway
- New & improved taxiways
- An extended passenger aircraft apron
- New car parking facilities
- New passenger access roadway to the terminal
- Expanded air terminal building
- A new fire hall and emergency equipment
- Electrical, water and sewage services

In 1970, Artio International Airport sold some space to the Warplane Museum of Aigéantir, leading to a long and successful relationship that has allowed aircraft enthusiasts and military historians the chance to repair and fly some of Aigéantir's aircraft from the World Wars.

In 1986, it became clear that the flourishing tourism industry required further expansion and renovations of the airport, which led to a proposal to knock down the existing terminals one at a time and replace them with larger, more spacious, and more modern structures, that could continue to meet the demand of air traffic, while providing comfort to international and domestic travelers.

In 1988, Terminal 1 and 3 were demolished and replaced with newer and improved departure lounges, more efficient security stations, and room for 50 additional concession stalls. Terminal 2 was replaced in 1990, making it the newest terminal until the construction and completion of Terminal 4 in 2008.

AIRPORT COMMUNITY

Noise Managment

As the busiest cargo and passenger airports in Aigéantir, Artio International Airport runs a 24-hour day operation. It is the Airport’s goal to ensure that noise is kept to the lowest practical level in order to minimize the impact on nearby residents.

Artio International has established a ‘Noise Management Advisory Committee’ to responsibly and proactively handle noise management. The committee is comprised of neighbours, citizens, Airport staff, City Councilors, and the King of Artio; the Noise Management Advisory Committee meets twice annually to review noise data and discuss improvements.

Artio International Airport is a strong supporter of the City of Artio’s Airport Employment Growth District (AEGD), which is to be developed on lands surrounding the Airport. Through its ‘The Sky Is The Limit Airport Tour Program’, Artio International and its in-terminal partners offers scheduled Airport tours to educate the public on Terminal operations, requirements of air travel and the overall workings of an Airport.

Artio International integrates a ‘Sense of Place’, connecting passengers with the community the Airport serves and providing a unique experience each time they fly into or out of the Airport.

Artio International achieves this by participating in programs or events that are uniquely linked to Artio and the Kingdom of Aigéantir as a whole, and by providing direct accessibility to tourist destinations within Aigéantir by train, bus, and ship.
