Saudi Historian says US women don't mind being raped

A Saudi Arabian historian trying to justify the nation's ban on female drivers says women who drive in other countries such as the United States don't care if they're raped and that sexual violence "is no big deal to them."

Saleh al-Saadoon claimed in a recent TV interview that women can be raped when a car breaks down, but unlike other countries, Saudi Arabia protects its women from that risk by not allowing them to drive in the first place, according to a translation posted online by the Middle East Media Research Institute.

"They don't care if they are raped on the roadside, but we do," al-Saadoon said on Saudi Rotana Khalijiyya TV.

“Hold on. Who told you they don’t care about getting raped on the roadside?” asked the host, a woman who is not named in the transcript.

“It’s no big deal for them beyond the damage to their morale,” al-Saadoon replied. “In our case, however, the problem is of a social and religious nature.”

Two other guests on the show -- a man and a woman -- appeared to be in shock over his comments. Al-Saadoon said they were out of touch.

"They should listen to me and get used to what society thinks," al-Saadoon said.

Since the rape argument didn't seem to be convincing anyone, al-Saadoon tried another approach, claiming that women are treated "like queens" in Saudi Arabia because they are driven around by the men of the family and male chauffeurs. That led the host to ask if he wasn't afraid that women might be raped by their chauffeurs.

Al-Saadoon agreed.

"There is a solution, but the government officials and the clerics refuse to hear of it," he said. "The solution is to bring in female foreign chauffeurs to drive our wives."

That caused the female host to laugh and cover her face with her palm.

"Female foreign chauffeurs?" she said. "Seriously?"

Saudi women face serious penalties if they are caught driving, including lashing. Two women who defied the ban on driving last year, Loujain al-Hathloul and Maysa al-Amoudi, are being tried in a court that handles terror cases.

Found this little jewel after I was on Reddit this morning. I got to admit, they've certainly got balls insulting an entire nations gender group. Then again it could just be lunacy I mean hell if you won't let women drive to "protect their ovaries", then why are you letting men drive?

And since the female foreign chauffeurs drive cars and are foreign, they clearly wouldn't mind being raped by a Saudi male passerby should the car break down.
I guess this means more rape-able stuff for the average Saudi male, right?

Because, clearly, the fact that Saudi women would risk being raped should their car break down implies that a lot of Saudi males would like to rape a woman whose car has broken down.

Which tantamounts to giving TWO arguments for considering a lot of Saudi males as maniac wannabe rapists.

Many Muslims (not just men) the world over think of infidel women as people without honour or decency, and therefore they can be raped or used for financial gain at will. It results from the faith telling them that the believers are righteous and just and that the infidels are inferior people through and through, and that it is permitted to capture their women and rape them. From this mindset, it is natural for Muslim men not to want their own women to go for walks or drives alone. It's the same religious dynamic behind the fact that Muslim men in Europe always try to go after non-Muslim women (often without regard for consent or age), but non-Muslim men are generally kept away from Muslim women. You could see it as a game of capture the flag, but with women instead of the flag.

Because clearly the problem isn't the fact that apparently most Saudi drivers with a pair of jumper cables in his trunk are rapists? I think instead, the more logical solution would be to find anyone with a can of fix-a-flat and castrate them. Problem solved, and no need for foreigners driving around their ladies.

However, it tells you that you are allowed to capture infidel women and rape them after you have defeated their fathers, husbands or guardians (Quran 33:50, 4:24). And if they're traveling alone - well, then you are able to capture them without a fight. Of course Saudi men, who often believe that this is acceptable because it is in the Quran, will be afraid of letting their women go outside on their own. They project their own desire and lust on all other men in the country (including, of course, a large infidel expat population consisting mainly of men).

And by the way, 33:50's full translation is as follows:

O Prophet, indeed We have made lawful to you your wives to whom you have given their due compensation and those your right hand possesses from what Allah has returned to you [of captives] and the daughters of your paternal uncles and the daughters of your paternal aunts and the daughters of your maternal uncles and the daughters of your maternal aunts who emigrated with you and a believing woman if she gives herself to the Prophet [and] if the Prophet wishes to marry her, [this is] only for you, excluding the [other] believers. We certainly know what We have made obligatory upon them concerning their wives and those their right hands possess, [but this is for you] in order that there will be upon you no discomfort. And ever is Allah Forgiving and Merciful.

Basically, that one bit in bold excludes the message of the verse for everybody.

And as for 4:24, that has nothing to do with your point:

And [also prohibited to you are all] married women except those your right hands possess. [This is] the decree of Allah upon you. And lawful to you are [all others] beyond these, [provided] that you seek them [in marriage] with [gifts from] your property, desiring chastity, not unlawful sexual intercourse. So for whatever you enjoy [of marriage] from them, give them their due compensation as an obligation. And there is no blame upon you for what you mutually agree to beyond the obligation. Indeed, Allah is ever Knowing and Wise.

It doesn't ruin anything. Fundamentalism means just that - the fundamentals of the religion. It's the religion, but without the human arrogance. It's the religion as it is, not as individual people want it to be. Fundamentalist Islam is the real Islam, and all moderation in Islam - or any religion, for that matter - comes at the expense of the theology of the religion itself. Moderation always means you ignore the fundamentals of the religion, which is why I do not understand how anyone who adheres to any religion can be 'moderate' and still claim to adhere to the original religion whose rules they violate. I know Christians who watch pornography, and that's just as strange as Muslim men who take Jews or Christians for friends or refuse to spend money or risk their lives fighting for Allah.

No. The bit about 'the Prophet' only refers to marriage. Besides, in 4:24 - which you say is irrelevant - it is explained that you can rape captive women even if they are already married.
In fact, the Hadiths explain this verse, and the explanation ought to be clear.

Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (Allah be pleased with him) reported that at the Battle of Hanain Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) sent an army to Autas and encountered the enemy and fought with them. Having overcome them and taken them captives, the Companions of Allah's Messenger (may peace te upon him) seemed to refrain from having intercourse with captive women because of their husbands being polytheists. Then Allah, Most High, sent down regarding that: "And women already married [are prohibited to you], except those whom your right hands possess [who have been captured by you] (Quran 4:24)"
