I don't think I need to find a schizophrenic to see a hilariously inaccurate self-portrait, USOM.

That isnt the point. Its that in a self portrait they depict what their perception tells them the world is, and more symbolic items often take a more physical point of view.

Eh, not as much as you think I'd wager. We haven't begun the duels yet, though we will tomorrow, most likely.

Took me awhile. Lemme know if there's anything that needs fixin'

Character Application

Image
Name: Ritz Bathys
Gender: Female
Age: 22
Likes/Dislikes:
Ritz' most favorite pastime of all is relaxing, and she cherishes moments of silence and serenity. Either sleeping or whilst reading a book, she prefers the touch of grass on her skin when doing both and exhibits a truly serene personality that is hard to boil over, though that calm demeanor only surfaces when she is truly at ease.
Because of a warm and passionate personality, Ritz cherishes her relationships with others very dearly and has a strong sense of commitment towards the people she loves, abhorring selfish acts that hurt others and avoids using violence for any means others than self defense or the protection of her comrades. Her deep desire to help her friends and loved ones sometimes translates in reckless or out-of-character behavior, and this trait is both her biggest strength and weakness, as it may cause her to forego her analytic thinking and jump into a situation without further thought, a flaw she shares with her ancestor.
While often barely noticeable, Ritz also enjoy the occasional mischief, a truly childish trait she has never outgrown.
Bio:
When the capital of Kaineroth was consumed by the void, so was the ancestral home of the Bathys family and most of its members. In one instant, a vast heritage was condemned to the void, before the eyes of the person who would go on to preserve her crumbled lineage and the traditions of her family, Serah Bathys, former companion of the Red Knight in his quest to retrieve the Chalice.

Raised in the strict climate of her esteemed family, the honored Knight had cultivated a strong emotional barrier to keep others out and protect herself, but witnessing such a loss of life cracked that cold shell. Though she had fought many battles, Serah had never witnessed such a cull of innocent life; battles that were barely worthy of the name, countless slaughters. During the years that followed, her spirit was pushed to the breaking point, but she continued to fight in her family's name and that of all the Redemit that had fallen. Her entire being was so consumed by this duty that, when the War ultimately ended by the Red Knight's final blow, Serah was unable to find peace and accept the calm. Her soul was tarnished with the blood of dragons and the trauma of war; she - a Knight believed to be so strong, one that fought alongside the Red Knight in many battles - ultimately could not withstand the wounds inflicted on her psyche.

On Ophanim, one of the Cathedrals that remained after the War, Serah recovered. It was there that she found love among the Knights that outlasted the War, and she loved him as much as she could with her damaged heart. Though she eventually regained some of her lost vigor and her wounds healed, the scars would remain until the end. Serah spent the remainder of her life rebuilding her family and its name in her new home, leaving behind tales of her strength when she ultimately passed away.

A thousand years later, Ritz was born.

By then her family had gradually regained their standing among the nobility of the Phantom Blade, thanks to the efforts of the woman that had rebuilt their house on Ophanim, which allowed the newest addition to the Bathys household to grow up in comfort reminiscent of their ancestral home on Kaineroth. Like all members of her family, she was raised as a lady, though didn't retain her parents' strict upbringing. She was a calm and carefree child, and because of that disposition she was often perceived as apathetic. There were many days that she spent simply lying in the grass and enjoying the calm, a habit that clashed with her family's tradition.

Though she lacks her famed ancestors' zeal, Ritz has no shortage of wits. Though little desire for the affairs of nobility, the young Ritz had (and still does) an insatiable curiosity and rare intellect, often combining her time of peace with the stress-free activity of reading. She also spent a great deal of time training with her sword, Esper, under her mother's tutelage, despite her love for tranquility. Perhaps she never took it truly seriously, which resulted in her fighting style to more closely resemble dancing instead of anything else; she was fast and nimble, which compensated for her average strength. Carrying on the line of female Knights in the family was important, but to Ritz, all that training was more about bonding with her mother than anything else, which is why it was one of the things she truly committed to.

Only when she turned 16 did Ritz become more attuned to the energies around her, being able to sense this energy in herself and others. Though not without lack of trying, Ritz showed little aptitude in casting most magic and, for some time, gave up on the thought of ever harnessing that power she felt present deep inside of her. It would only be during one of her moments of relaxation that the young teenager realized where her abilities lied, and shortly thereafter she began to dedicate herself to understanding and manipulating the forces the coursed through all living beings, guided by the branch of Mages in her family. It was then that her parents realized their daughter would not grow up to be Knight, but rather that she would forge that path for herself, a realization that contributed to their decision to send her to the Silver Hand Academy.

Ritz's Powergrid

GENERAL ATTRIBUTES

Focus: 4
Energy: 3
Endurance: 2
Readiness: 2
Awareness: 4

ABILITY ATTRIBUTES

Weapon Proficiency: 3
[Versatile Energy Sword - Esper]: 2
While it wields somewhat like a regular sword, Esper is somewhat different from your standard issue weapon. Like its progenitor, Fafnir, the wielder can change its form through a single command, making it both an offensive as a defensive weapon. While its offensive form is a sword, Esper's defensive form is wielded like a tonfa and emits a dense field of energy capable of acting as a shield for multiple purposes and also serves as an efficient non-lethal weapon.
Image

[Unarmed Combat]: 4

Magic Proficiency: 3
[Energy Manipulation]: 4
While all mages have an innate control over their energy, as it is the source of their magic, Ritz seems to be capable of manipulating it more than others, allowing her to control the flow of energy in both herself and others (absorb, infuse, etc.). Aside from replenishing someone’s energy, this can also delay death by constantly infusing energy until they are healed by a mage that can wield healing magic.

Aside from circulating the flow of energy – draining and infusing - Ritz can also disturb it with a series of strikes to the torso, weakening her target’s magical ability for a period of time.
[Energy Generation]: 2
Through intense concentration, Ritz can utilize her own energy to draw from the invisible, untapped power in her surroundings and essentially transmute it into energy, which she does by whispering a series of chants over and over, which – aside from initiating the process – helps Ritz keep her focus to maintain it.

After generating this energy, it will either used or gradually dissipate from her body, producing a pleasant warmth. In large amounts, this aura even becomes vaguely visible to the naked eye.
This excess of life energy will passively influence Ritz’s stamina and delay any fatigue, for example from physical exercise, or allow her to break the limits of her own physical limitation, even up to the point of remaining conscious when any normal person would have long fainted.

When wounded, this excess of energy also forces her body’s own regenerative processes to speed up and, depending on how much energy she has accumulated, allow her body to (partially) recover from wounds that it would otherwise be unable to.

Beginning of school season, everyone has arrived via spacecraft called chariots, entrance ceremony has concluded, took a detour to dorm rooms for exposition before we head over to silver games where PC's will engage in their duels.

Alright, well, first of all, the students began on board of a chariot, headed towards Cathedral Arcadia. They chatted a lot, did their stuff, had some healthy shipping and all of that until eventually reaching the Cathedral and meeting one of their guides. Once all of the students had gathered around him and were accounted for, they headed towards the auditorium and met their other guide. Not long after that, the welcoming ceremony began and concluded shortly afterwards, with the students being told about a dueling festival of sorts. The students were then shown to their quarters to drop off any extra luggage before the Silver Games. At the present moment, I am approximately half an hour away from posting the students being led to the armory and then to the stadium where the Silver Games will be held. Now, I would appreciate it if you had your character approach the two guides while there, saying something paperwork mistakes and being assigned to them instead of another pair of guides, since it would justify your character coming in just now and not knowing the others.

Another thing: The duels. If you'd like to participate, I think you'll have to go up against an NPC instead of another player because I think there's no one available. Of course you could not participate and simply chat with the aspirants while the duels take place so that your character will have something to do. It's up to you.

I understand as much, not sure if Zark means to have us pair off to our whims and begin though.

Indeed, and would it be easier to decide the outcome of the fight now or begin positioning our characters first?
Also, should we do the fights in multiple posts or just band together to make one long post?
