A tournament would be good for introducing student NPC's, but I dont think we'll be spending too much time with that, and duels are better for forcing a smaller group such as ours to interact and show our respective hands a little. Would also be better in that all of it can go on at once while still being a tad easier to manage, assuming posts dont get too mixed up.
No, I don't think I'll do too much with student NPCs right now. We'll need them at the team fight anyway, so they'll pop up one way or the other.
And it should be manageable if people quote each other's posts. Even if not, I don't think it'll be too much of a problem.

Putting who your responding too in the top of the post can work as well.

Also, if anyone's wondering why Mercius has the last name Alistar when his father was not one, or conversely why Aressa has the last name Alistar when her mother wasn't one, that's not a matter of inconsistency. The child will take the family name of the parent with the strongest genes, unless the other parent is a noble, in which case they can override this and give the child their family name anyway. This serves to explain why all of the Alistars have similar eyes.

Name: Augustus Alistar
Appearance: Augustus is a man of severe complexion, his face one of grave features. He has short, well-trimmed hair, gray colored due to the rigors of age, and a matching pair of sublime gray eyes that are shared by all of his family, which give him an intimidating gaze despite his evident old age. Though once tall and strong, Augustus is no longer as solid a man as he had been in the past. Despite this, it's no difficult task to see that he is a man who dedicated most of his life to the way of the sword, and he can definitely still hold his own in a fight, though he is no longer a strong as he once was.
Gender: Male
Age: 743
Bio: Augustus Alistar was one of the two children of Aurelius Alistar, brother of the Red Knight, a man who survived the Tragedy of Kaineroth by virtue of being away on duty when the Chalice War began. Born a couple centuries after the end of the war, Augustus was brought into existence in a world of ashes that was trying to recover from the terrors of war. His father Aurelius was among those who survived to see the end of the catastrophic war, and it showed. A man who appreciated the fine arts despite being a soldier, who would most likely have been more at home with an orchestra or in a cultural center than in the Phantom Host, he retained some parts of his personality, though his outlook became more grim and his demeanor severe. And while Augustus' sister Alana seemed to take after her father's past, becoming a cheerful person leaning towards the arts more than towards combat, Augustus himself seemed to be more as his father was after the war, serious and stern.
With a father who was most often absent because of his profession, fighting the nascent heathen host off in some faraway galaxy, a mother who had little to teach to him about the things that truly interested him, and a very dear but so very different sister, Augustus often found himself alone in the outdoors, training with an old sword of his father's, in order to become stronger, a force that could help set the world straight once again. Though by no means secret, this training went mostly unnoticed for a while, or so it seemed. As it turned out, his sister Alana was very interested in what her brother did when he went outside for hours so often, and once she found him out, enthralled by the art she saw in the handling of the sword, she asked him to teach her as well. For a long time, Augustus refused, not because he thought it was unappropiate for a woman, but because he thought it was unappropiate for his little sister. However, in time he was convinced that it would no doubt serve her well to learn to defend herself and that it was unjustified to keep her from learning an 'art form' as she called it that she was so interested in, and so, he resolved to teach her what he had managed to learn by himself. Thus he continued training, and teaching his sister as well while he was at it, until eventually the two of them had become equal in skill, constantly improving themselves as they sparred with each other.
Eventually, their father noticed this. He saw the potential in both of them, and wanted to help them continue growing, but he considered Alana still too young to leave, and so, at that moment, he set up Augustus to become the squire of a soldier of the Phantom Host so that he could further learn and get some experience, unable to take him on as a squire himself. And so, Augustus left with his new master, Edgar, a powerful knight and dabbling mage who was, like many others, assigned to fight the heathen host. For countless years he traveled with Edgar, seeing the best and worst of the galaxies and learning to fight like a true Phantom Soldier. Eventually, he was strong enough to become a knight himself, no longer under the orders of Edgar, though the bond that had formed between the two led them to continue working together, fighting no longer as squire and knight, but as equals, colleagues.
Years later, while on a brief leave to visit his family, Augustus reunited with his father, now retired. His sister, however, was nowhere to be found, and he soon found out that she had followed in his footsteps shortly after he had left, becoming a squire and then a knight herself. Augustus felt a tinge of pride upon hearing such news, knowing that he had helped her achieve that. Along with that, however, Augustus also received some more interesting news. It was the year 438 after the war, and his father, on his ninth century of life already, had begun a rather peculiar endeavor: Founding a military academy, in the very same cathedral that was erected in tribute to his brother. A life of service to the Phantom Host and a handful of connections made had garnered him the required funds, and he was in the process of getting permission to create such an institution from Auregin Eliseria herself. Augustus did not know what to think of it, but he wished his father the best of luck in his endeavor, before leaving to return to his service once again.
However, less than a hundred years after their meeting, his father requested to see him. He was old now, having just become nine hundred years old. He had succeeded in his endeavor, but he was now too old to look after his project, instead wishing to leave it to his son. After going through the necessary procedures, Augustus Alistar, in the midst of his third century of life at that moment, became the head of the council of the Silver Hand Academy from that moment, and has served in that position ever since, leading the academy to acquire all of its fame and prestige across the Known Universe. For twenty-six years, his father acted as his advisor, until finally, Aradain claimed his warrior's soul. Despite this, Augustus continued, raising high the name of the institution founded by his father, honoring his legacy and that of the now dead man's brother with his teachings. In time, Alana, stationed as a guard on one of the Phantom Blade's worlds and happily married to a local, sent her son, Mercius, to the Academy, and in time, that very same boy would send his daughter as well, one Aressa Alistar.
There's the headmaster's profile if anyone wanted to look at it.
The dates were a nightmare to handle, frankly. I had to make myself a small timeline to organize them.
Sounds fascist.
Also, save the tournaments and team battles until later arcs. Stick to duels first.

I'm fine with either, really, I think it would be more interesting if the player characters RP'd fights with each other, and you decide who wins beforehand(since both parties will likely try to win).
