The Scattered Isles of Kazamatsuri
Official Roster for CE 11

Image

Nation Background

A semi-autonomous territory of the Celestial Empire of Mizuyuki, Kazamatsuri is a relatively new nation, having only been formed through a secession of a number of Mizuyuki's island colonies from its local administration a year previously. However, this change is said in political circles to be merely cosmetic, as the Celestial Empire remains in de facto control over the entire island chain in the prefecture due to the "revolutionaries" being unable to gain international recognition as a sovereign country.

Mizuyuki's comparatively overwhelming military might cast a shadow over Kazamatsuri. Following months of negotiations between the Executive COmmittee of Mizuyuki and the revolutionaries, the island chain of Kazamatsuri was officially made a protectorate of Mizuyuki, formally The Scattered Isles of Kazamatsuri, Protectorate of the Celestial Empire of Mizuyuki. However, a clause exists in the official treaty that compromises Kazamatsuri's already insignificant "independence"; Mizuyuki retains the right to revoke their protectorate status and reintegrate Kazamatsuri into their territories without notice. That being the case, however, during her opening speech at an official ceremony held at Kizuna Kyūden (絆宮殿) to recognise Kazamatsuri as a protectorate of the Celestial Empire, Mizuyukian diplomats reassured the leaders of Kazamatsuri that there were no plans to sanction such a revocation of their status in the near future.

Soon afterwards, a puppet government of the Celestial Empire was put into place; the leaders of the revolution were given nominal positions in the newly formed Kazamatsuri cabinet, which is known as The Committee of Judgment (判決委員会), Hanketsu Iinkai, (Judgment for short) while a loyalist of the Mizuyuki administration, Tonoya Akira (殿谷 明), the sister of Mizuyukian Executive Committee member Tonoya Jin (殿谷 仁) was installed as the Mizuyukian High Commissioner in Kizuna. She is set to continue presiding over the Scattered Isles for the foreseeable future.

Note - On 20 November 2013, the Scattered Isles of Kitsuneshima was officially renamed the Scattered Isles of Kazamatsuri.

Team Background

A group of ragtag professionals that originally held Mizuyukian citizenship, the members that make up Kazamatsuri's team are footballers that defected to Kazamatsuri following the Treaty of Kizuna that officially declared Kazamatsuri as a protectorate of Mizuyuki in protest of the decision. They claim that the formation of Kazamatsuri as a protectorate and not a fully independent country is unlawful, and thus chose to protest the decision by claiming Kazamatsurian citizenship and playing for their hatchling national team. However, since the Treaty of Kizuna holds that all citizens of Kazamatsuri are, by extension, citizens of Mizuyuki, this move was also criticised by many as ineffectual and merely a plea to garner attention.

Hicana CE 11 Roster

Background: After traveling through a warp that eliminated fatigue to play a best-of-99 series against Nexxus Drako, Hicanan scientists took illegal samples of materials in the warp and the other dimension and distilled it at home to create a potion that would eliminate fatigue and aging. It was mixed in with protein supplements and added to the food of the national team players to make them stronger, have amazing stamina, and immortal. It worked.

However, after a war, the officials are unclear of who is actually coming. They'll have to adjust after every round...

Bustards Struggle to Shock Draw
by Francesca Hart

New Wolfopolis 1 - 1 The Sarian
'18 Unknown [NWW]
'69 Janssen [SAR]

One could hardly have complained about lack of choice on television last night, the Olympic Games took over SNN, WorldVision STV and football made it's debut on SBP last night, as the Campionato Esportiva opened in Yttribia and Nephara.

What promised to be a grand spectacle, however was ruined by a performance reminiscent of the lowest days of John McKenzie, as manager, Daniel Bauer shook the team up to dire consequences.

The first scare at The Sarian's backline came within a minute from kick off, the Wolfpack attack coming dangerously close to scoring with a well struck shot from distance that was only narrowly wide.

And the onslaught didn't stop there, with less than five minutes on the clock the ball was in the back of the Sarian net - though it was eventually ruled out after the New Wolfopolis striker was judged to have fouled Sarian debutant, Alessio Kokinos.

Kokinos showed energy throughout the first half, and was arguably the most focused of all The Sarian players, despite being only seventeen.

Still, the New Wolfopolis attack continued to expose the inexperience of Ronan Michaels and Carson Seabrooke, who had never played together before this match, and a breakdown of communication lead to the Wolfpack's number nine being left unmarked to strike the ball past the stranded Brigham Huddlestone.

Huddlestone seemed to be the only member of the defensive unit showing any sign of resistance against the continuing attacks, twice being called on to deny Wolfopolis strikers after defensive breakdowns. First tipping the Wolfopolis strikers ball wide of the post then rushing out to snatch the ball from the feet of an escaped winger.

The New Wolfopolis position became stronger as the match progressed, while Jordan Lee and Hectares Matteo continued to show their incompatibility as an attacking duo, both having golden opportunities wasted by poor passes and vision between each other.

So it came as a shock when out of no where the Bustards had a break, Sargon Garrard finding a searching pass to the sprinting Cody Roberts on the left hand side, whose cross reached Gil Reis, only to be taken out by a dirty tackle from the Wolfopolis keeper.

In the chaos that followed, the keeper was given marching orders while Gil Reis was stretchered off, with a rumoured broken shoulder. Ron Fletcher stood over the resulting penalty, but a weak shot was palmed away by the replacement Wolfopolis goalkeeper to end the only real Sarian chance of the half.

Despite a rumoured shout out in the changing rooms, little changed in the start of the second half, Huddlestone again relied on to keep the Wolfopolis lead to just one goal - making a stunning double save to stop a New Wolfopolis defender from scoring an unlikely goal.

Signs of improvement started to seep their way in, Michaels unlucky not to score with a header and Jordan Lee's shot brushed the post on it's way out.

Daniel Bauer, an animated figure on the touchline for a majority of the match had obviously seen enough, bringing on Turin Janssen and William Peters in place of Seabrooke and Lee.

Janssen made an instant impact, taking it round three Wolfopolis defenders before tapping it through the legs of the Wolfopolis keeper to level the scores on sixty-nine minutes.

Revitalised, it was now The Sarian's time to push forward, a fantastic save denied Janssen his second within five minutes of coming on and Kokinos would consider himself unlucky not to score on his debut after a deflection took all the power out of his curling effort, ending the game at one apiece and effectively ending The Sarian's chances of progressing.

Lineup:

GK: Brigham Huddlestone [C]
DR: Sargon Garrard
DC: Carson Seabrooke (William Peters '68)
DC: Ronan Michaels
DL: Cody Roberts
DM: Gil Reis (Iairus Edwardson '32)
MC: Louie Nittenpepper
MC: Ron Fletcher
AM: Alessio Kokinos
FC: Jordan Lee (Turin Janssen '68)
FC: Hectares Matteo

Lineup vs Paymina

Moving into a brighter future
By Dr. Beryan Undar
Translated from Lojish by Kenver Annic

Just seven days ago, we were living under a tyrannical dictator, Sarian forces were pouring into the capital and every Lojish man, women and child feared for the existence they held in granted. For eight years we had been an independant nation like we were nearly a thousand years before and for three years we had been fighting a war to defend that right.

The Sarian breakthrough came as a shock, and within two weeks of taking the west coast of the Island, Crompton was surrounded. Sarian Forces charged the capital, with a rumored prize of almost three million Imperia to each member of the company that captured Lord Protector, John Birmingham.

The white flag was raised, and the victorious Chief Executive flew to Crompton. Few could have predicted what Karl Cryton would have done next - instead of annexing Lojal back into The Sarian, a provisional government was set up and all but a couple of thousand Sarian Soldiers were removed.

This paves the way for a bright future, based on the principles of justice, equality and democracy. Lojal is, and will always be, free.

Part One

The Apoxian exploration and prospecting of the former Commune had been going well, the Forward Operating Base had continued to grow and grow, when people started going missing. It was about two months after they'd first begun the exploration of the Commune. It was just a trickle at first, maybe one or two for the first two weeks, nothing to really get people worried.

However, after a group of 4 people, including two highly trained soldiers had gone missing, then it became clear that this was a dangerous place to be. Thorold Yeates passed the declaration that all prospecters had to be accompanied by an armed guard, and were to be as quick as possible in their experiments and surveys, before returning to the FOB, a seemingly safe place at that point in time.

It had become clear that they needed to find out what the hell was causing people to go missing, and it was therefore decided that the army would set up a number of traps around the base, in the hopes of finding out what was happening. It hadn't worked particularly well, but, on the very same morning that Matt Holmes and Artur Jaavinen had set out, an aide had run into Thorold Yeates tent, saying that one of the traps had been set off.

Minutes later, Thorold and 20 heavily armed men were on their way to the activated trap, situated about two miles from the base. They could hear what they'd caught a long time before they saw it - a foul, almost demonic shrieking noise, piercing and terrifying. They rounded the corner, and saw the one of the creatures which had been plaguing the Apoxian so mysteriously until then. Of course, at that point, they didn't know there was more than one.

It was struggling viciously underneath the net it was caught under. It appeared to be covered in bright yellow fur, no it's top half was yellow feathers, the bottom was fur, and flecked with brown. It had the legs and claws of a bear, but had the head of an eagle. It was tall and muscular, and in fact, looked a lot like a mystical griffon without the wings. The entire group of soldiers stood still for a minute, before Major Charles Beatbrow, his direct inferior piped up;

"What shall we do with it, sir?" Thorold studied the beast for a moment.

"We should need to learn more about it to understand it well. Do we have a suitable cage for it back at base?"

"I should think so sir."

"Very good, tranquillise it until it's out cold, then attach it to the jeep and we'll drag it back." With that Thorold turned a quickly strode away, accompanied by a couple of guards, eager to get away from that thing as quickly as possible, as the troops moved in, ready to tranquillise it for transportation.

Nova Pruthenia's team seemed mostly unaware that the match had begun and proceeded to spend the entirity of the first half 'warming up'.

There was a worrying occurance in the second half. A long range shot from one of the more bored looking midfielders struck the pedestal, knocking over the teapot. Luckily, no damage was sustained and I was allowed to re-set the stand succesfully. Majority of second half consisted of our opponents arguing with the referee. Something about 'travesty', 'unacceptable' and several derogatory remarks about Paradystopia and it's priceless teapot. Such heathens ...

Unsure how and when Nova Pruthenia conceded a goal. Believe it quite possibly happened during their 'warm up' with a practice shot out of the reach of their goalkeeper. Nonetheless, the match finished one-nil to Paradystopia's favour.

10-man Consanguinian Squad humiliates Chiata

The Paradystopi Consanguinity 3-0 Chiata

(Filthy sent off 1')
Sandbottom 45' + 1
Oldelongjonson 51'
Curio 53'

The fledgling Consanguinian squad looked to be facing an inauspicious start to their national footballing career when Filthy earned himself what was possibly the fastest red card known in international football. It appeared that the referee's whistle to signify the kick-off caught him off guard and almost before the game started the angered gibbon flung himself at the match official and tried to gnaw his face off. The match eventually got underway once Filthy had been tranquillised and sealed in his transportation crate. The referee suffered a few scratches but seemed essentially okay.
It took until just before the break for the Consanguinians to edge ahead. A low cross from deFnod (which was likely a misplaced shot) skimmed past the edge of the six yard box and was narrowly missed by a stretching Shleppie Dindong before Sandbottom drove it home into the roof of the net by the far post.
After the break the Consanguinian squad were fired up, beginning the second half with the same fervour with which they ended the first and it wasn't long before they reaped their rewards. The break began from a wayward Chiatan corner, collected by Skab who lofted it forward towards the exposed Pumas' defense. After Sandbottom collected the long pass, some simple passing made a mockery of the defense and it was Oldelongjonson who placed the ball neatly into an open goal.
It was Curio however, who really topped the win with a cherry, or more appropriately, a peach. Nearly straight from the Chiatan restart he took possession and attempted a speculative shot from well out. A minor deflection from a Chiatan defender saw the ball arch gracefully into the sky and drop right into the top left-hand corner of the goal with Garr Bricker simply a spectator.

The Consanguinians held the game from that point on with not a lot happening in the dying moments of the second half. Well, apart from when Filthy's tranquillisers wore off, he escaped his crate and attacked the Pumas' sub bench in a blind rage before making his way into the stands. Seven fans (5 Chiatan and 2 Consanguinian) are currently in hospital but no fatalities ...

The Rise and Fall of the Starian Governments

OCC: Please note that this is based on an RP posted during the World Cup 69 Qualifiers, which can be found here, thank you.

Intro
As the major storm passed through the country, forcing many citizens into underground bunkers with the lack of sufficient resources and with mysterious clouds over SeaShore City, the Federal Republic Government of Star United States, that has been an established and stable government since 1817, unknowingly begun to lose their grasp on the country, as other begun to rise secretly all over the country.

Chapter 1: The Rising

Intro to Chapter One
The Federal Government of Star United States recovering from a storm, and undergoing many shortages, not just of food, but of other supplies, such as electricity and other vital things. People around the country were desperate for their first-world items, such as Wifi and other luxury things, and stated rumors that the Federal Government is crumbling and no longer capable of running the country, well at least not completely. The Fascist Party of Star United States took advantage of the situation in the one the best technological city in the state, Golden City, a place where the people, especially the youth, were willing to do anything to get their luxury goods back in their hands.

Chapter 1
City Square, Golden City
August 10, 2014 - 12:00 Hours

“Citizens of Golden City, will you let the Federal Government continue to not supply our needs?," shouted a well-suited man from a podium on a red and black stage at the Golden City Square, in front of the City Hall, "the government has barely been able to provide us food! Anyway, us, the Fascist Party of Star United States, unlike the Federal Government has been able too. If you will join us in the City Hall every weekday at five in the afternoon, we will be providing food for everyone. We have Wifi posts and cable TV set up around the city in order to prevail. We will also be funding the Electric Companies in the city to reestablish electrical connections. However, we hope to have your full support in response to all the items we are providing you all for free. Thank you."

Applause thundered in the City Square as the well-dressed man walked off and towards into the City Hall. He passed through the doors and the noise outside instantly went quiet through the thick walls. He walked into a dim-lighted room that lacked any access to the outdoors. There was a man, also well dress, with a pin of the Starian flag on the right of his grey suit tied up in the middle of the darken room. He face was bowed and his mouth was shut closed by the sticky restraint, duck tape.

James Hill, leader of the Fascist Party, directed himself to the man that was tied down to the chair saying: "Oh, thank you Mr. Mayor, for letting me speak in front of the whole city to get them on our side, we greatly appreciate it. If only you would help us, we would set you free and let you live, or you could just stay here and die. So, let me ask you once again Mr. Mayor, will you help us?"

The mayor furiously shook his head suggesting a negative response to the asked question, being unable to speak due to the object preventing him to do so.

"Very well then Mr. Mayor," continued on James, "I'll let you accompany us for a little longer. Thank you, " he finished as he closed the thick black door shut, leaving the Mayor without an exit. He quickly locked the door and in one moment stuck the key into his pocket, or that's what he expected. He made his way to the fourth floor of the City Hall and directed himself to the Mayor's prestigious office. He made himself comfortable in the chair, and he pulled out his silver smartphone. He then carefully dial a ten-digit number in the cellular device, and touched the green button on the screen of this phone.

“Hello,” said a voice on the opposite side of the phone call.
“Good afternoon ma’am, it’s James. James Hill,” replied the young Fascist leader.
“Oh! James!,” exclaimed the female voice, “how did everything go?”
“Pretty well ma’am,” quickly answered James.
“Do you think the people are on our side?” questioned the mysterious voice.
“Yes ma’am, especially the youth since we are offering them free wifi,” continued James, “and they love their wifi. That’s what we need, to have the youth on our side.”
“How are you so sure they’ll join us?” asked the lady.
“Terms and Conditions, they never read them,” answered James, with great confidence.
“Oh haha, we played James,” stated the person and continued to ask in a softer voice, “what about the mayor?”
“He still refuses to help us,” answered James in a similar voice tone, “but don’t worry about him, I got it controlled.”
“You better, or else,” replied the woman, “anyway, have a great a day! Keep me updated.”

The call ended. James sighed in great relief, knowing that everyone was done correctly. He, then, begun to prepare for Phase II.

Somewhere In Air Flight
August 10, 2014 - 18:53

The lady who spoke to James, through the intercom said the following to the passengers on board:
“Hello all, I have an announcement, James Hill, of the Fascist Party, has contacted me to inform that everyone went well in Golden City, and that the situation is under control. Golden City is now to undergo Phase II. Thank you.”

To be continued...

The day before match day 1.

Alex Valentin sat in his hotel room depressed. Occasionally sipping on a bottle of mineral water, he vigorously checked and doubled checked his team sheets. Nothing. A bunch of amateurs, nobodies and has-beens. His assistant manager and close friend Paul Zolkov walked in.

"What are you looking so down about?" Enquired Paul.

"You know fine well. Look at the state of our team. I mean I know you told me it would be hard work but all the work in the world wouldn't make most of these players half decent."

Paul chuckled.

"What's did you say when you accepted the job? Oh, yes something about 'relishing the challenge' and 'working with a great bunch of guys'. Alex I knew you were two faced but this takes it to new levels."

"Did you come in here to mock me or do you have something productive to say?" Snapped Alex.

"Actually I do have something good to tell you. Our kits arrived - this time no missing pairs of socks!"

Valentin stared at his friend unimpressed. "Is that it? Nothing but that we have socks to play in? Well isn't that great! Whoopee! I'm almost shaking with excitement!" Valentin said sarcastically.

He continued. "Hmm let's have a look at my world class team shall we?"

Paul rolled his eyes, he had seen many of Alex's little tantrums before.

Grabbing the player profiles Valentin still rambled on.

"Oh look! Hugo Marvins, the left back, he plays in the third division and works as a joiner. There's his mate Artyom Zhaz, he works in a cafe! The team is full of part-timers, Paul. It's ridiculous!"

He paused.

"I guarantee it, Paul, we will not win a game."

The next day.

"What was that about not winning a game, Alex?"

"Oh leave me alone Paul. Why do you always need to gloat about these things? I was just teasing you, I had complete faith in my players today. Although I still can't believe we won 1-0."

The players came back into the dressing room, fresh after their victory, with dirty kits and weariness in their legs.

The players gathered round the manager and the assistant.

Valentin, with a massive grin on his face, stood on top of a chair.

"Today, boys, was excellent. Defending was top notch and we managed to keep the clean sheet. However, most importantly we managed to get the win. We do need to be careful though, we nearly let the lead slip when our midfield collapsed. I'm looking at you Vlad and Fabio."

The two players in question looked to the floor in shame.

"But the main thing is, we did not lose. We won't be the whipping boys of this tournament - we won't be the easy three points and we won't be pushovers. Now I want you all to rest and prepare for the next match."

Alex wiped the sweat off of his brow.

"I have ultimate faith in you."

HAMMERED

Yttribia made light work of a lacklustre Jeckish side to record their first CE win on home soil over the debutant Spuds. The Yttribians were always favourites for this game, and asserted that status within the first five minutes, with Arce forcing a near post save from Evans. Yttribia moved the ball around the pitch quickly, making use of the extra man in midfield and thoroughly dominating in the first 20 minutes. Another chance for Arce went begging as his shot from an Abbtantunno pass went over and Hale jinked inside before firing a shot wide. However, it was a case of when not if Yttribia would score, and they did just that in the 26th minute. Some neat passing from di Mercurio and Prescott pushed Logan Cole too far forward, and Yttribia capitalised. Monti dropped back into the gap left, picking the ball up from Prescott, running forward and smashing a scoring drive past Evans and into the bottom left corner from the D. Jeckland tried to pick themselves up, but the Yttribians always posed an attacking threat and only one goal down they were happy to sit back and see out the half. Long shots from Prescott and Langlois didn't test Evans as half time approached and came without any further damage for Jeckland.

The second half began with Jeckland trying to attack and level the game. It started out alright, within the first five minutes King recieved a chipped through ball from Hoonas and forced a stunning save from Irvin/ But time and again attacks broke down due to a lack of cutting edge in the final third. Yttribia meanwhile, went for the counterattack. Vilhajmilsson started one such move, where the ball went through Gaspar, di Mercurio and Arce before a shot from Abbatantunno rattled the post. In the 65th minute, after winning the ball on the right flank, Hale ran half the length of the pitch, skinning Hermanez before squaring it for Arce to tap home. Yttribia continue to allow Jeckland to get bodies forward, with Vilhajmillsson ever reliable at the back with an outstanding block to deny Henriques. Jeckland were once again lacking creativity, with Hoonas being marked closely and given little license to work his magic. In the 80th minute Yttribia struck again. Hale once again the provider, this time with a looping cross headed home by Prescott. Yttribia then passed the ball around in defence and midfield for the remainder of the game. The Jeckland goal came in the second minute of four of stoppage time, with Cole winning a free kick 25 yards out. Hoonas curled it round the wall into the corner of the net, but it was far too little far too late.

Jeckland must dust themselves down for the next match against Independent Gredavcat, a game which they will expect to win. Watch it live, with extensive coverage, on Jeckland Sports 1.

From a certain perspective, the taste of victory could've turned to ash in the Brenecians' mouths.

This, evidently, was a tournament the Llamas didn't take seriously, choosing to devote their energies to the Runner Cup, which wasn't even a real tournament. There were two free agents in their squad, for God's sake. And they were playing a bizarre, antiquated W-M formation...
Yes, this was a match the Patriots could count themselves favourites.

But it had been a close-run thing. The Patriots ran a largely second-string team, including a debut for Catherine Purrington.
Purrington was... an interesting case. Stocky, unfit, one-footed and poor defensively, the few qualities she did possess were in abundance. One of the only true flair players Brenecia had (the other being Isadora Cullen, who was adapting well to the role of a rotation player at Barbury), Purrington boasted a fierce shot, beautiful finesse, and the sort of ball control that made her, in a way, the ultimate pub footballer.
She'd never have gotten into the squad under Slatesaver, of course. But players like that change games.
It had been 75 dull minutes in which the Patriots had largely failed to click, and credit to their Llamanean opponents, they were defending well. Until Isadora Cullen was felled outside the box. Simple professional foul, danger but no goalscoring opportunity, yellow card.
Camden normally took these for club and country, but she was benched right now. For now, it was Purrington up to take it, on her debut. But she was a while out, a five-man wall in front of her. A young, chunky lass from Marque, who'd been through the youth system of a club that had, three years ago, been semi-professional. And here she was, in the dark blue of the national team, stepping in for the captain.

Some days, when people say the ball curved over the wall, the goalkeeper, and dipped under the bar, they're exaggerating. But here, there was no exaggeration.

Some players changed games. And some games changed players. For Purrington, it had the good fortune to come on her debut - and it was the moment where she'd put herself very firmly on the map.
Puppet of Nephara.

The Felixian Government In Exile Ministry of Sport Presents...

The Free Felixian National Football Team

Introduction-

Due to the recent defection of the whole national team during the World Cup the WA recognized Corvidae Felix was not going to send their secondary national team as the U-21 side was playing in the Olympics. But since the NT defected to the government-in-exile the Free Felixians decided to send out almost the same national team thrown in the World Cup finals. The only difference in this team? Some players either retired from multiversal play or refused to join them in the Campionato as they either recanted their defections or didn't defect at all. Along with this, Felix's Mizuyuki manager, Ishikawa Haruka's pressure to win trophies for the Nationalist government has softened now that her team plays for a different Felix. But that doesn't mean she doesn't want Felix to win this cup, it means that the two time Round of 16 leading coach can finally coach in peace. Now with that all said and done, here is the Felixian National team representing Free Felix.

THE GUAYABALIAN

Today: San José Guayabal beats Rossana by the minimum margin

Ernest Johnson (APSJG)A new cycle of hope in the Campionato Esportiva started yesterday, after the disappointment of losing the bid to host the tournament, there is nothing left to face this new event and look for the win in a brave and courageous manner, starting this route in excellent shape in Calcio Yttribia Center in Serravalle, close to our nation, who had the stage presence of 7,433 fans SJG (The maximum stipulated for this stadium of fans, considering that only one sixth of the capacity sold visitors stadium fans).

Mathias Paatelainen appear a second time in the regional tournament, this time with considerably more than the traditional version of SJG offensive, following the 3-1-3-3, but the players are developed at least 10 meters from their normal positions, all this in order to have a more aggressive game and seek to create spaces in the defenses of the rival, this time would Rossana. A team playing slightly more offensive than SJG, using a tactical 4-2-1-3 system, with the same number of attackers SJG, but comprising players with much more function of area, that recovery of the ball.

Fans of both nations had altercations outside the stadium, nothing but screaming or discriminative signals from fans SJG due to the condition of colony Rossana has with SJG, while nationalist fans of Rossana reacted interact with in order to be felt to be present and not be intimidated, something that the Interior Ministry authorities take action to severely punish acts of racism gainst Rossadan dwellers, who have the same rights as a citizen of SJG, independent of their social status, race, economic status, etc.

To begin the game, Rossana had possession of the ball for a good stretch of the first fifteen minutes, despite his relative inexperience in this tournament, Rossana was undeterred and responded with a free throw from Camden Cassius, who passed through above the goal defended by Henry Hernandez, then shot by Rodolfo Zelaya. The flamboyant striker Northbrook Diamonds FC from Polar Islandstates wanted part of the action through a solo run, running down the right side infiltrated the area and finished off the side of the goal defended by Lucas Englund, who was aware of the movement of Zelaya by area .

SJG began to gain mastery of the ball and territory, constant movement in order to pressure the defense of Rossana, emphasizing Frankie Captain Greaves, who was constantly being pressured by Sebastian Nunez, who used to take his physical advantage in the actions and try to recover the ball. Something I managed to twenty five minutes of action, giving pass to Sean Fraser to conduct a counterattack and to define the goal of Englund, but this was alert and denied the opportunity to score Fraser.

SJG had more possession Rossana balloon, only 42% was sufficient for the colonial computer, while 58% ball possession by SJG was not enough to write down these, despite having made two shots motif goal, while Rossana had not approached except free throw Camden Cassius.

Thirty-eight minutes, Rossana started looking to score the first goal before halftime, Dixie Brambler gave highly accurate high ball to Ruben Stokes, who approached the area but was stopped promptly by Meyson Salume, who punted for avoid surprises.

The first half ended with both teams met with a cold goalless draw, this certainly did not benefit either, considering it's always great to win in the first game of the tournament in order to try to consolidate the group.

Neither substitution coaches made towards the second time, there were not changes in the gameplay much less changes in the location of the players on the court.

SJG moved the ball, Rodolfo Zelaya gave pass to Jonathan Fana immediately, that this was available to make a counterattack from the left side of the field, taking a centering pass Bregoo Leonidas, who managed remaar header but sent the ball aside from Portera Englund, certainly the inefficiency on the front of SJG was still a problem in the game, because of trés clear scoring opportunities, three were clearly wasted by the forwards.

Rossana achieved embarrass SJG, Archie Flemming made a pass to Dixie Brambler, who overcame the resistance of Henry Hernandez, Rossana scoring a goal but the referee disallowed the goal because of course "offside". This was definitely something disturbing for Paatelainen coach, who looked like the national team does not specify the scoring opportunities.

Seventy-seven minutes had elapsed and the game was still SJG advantage in possession, this time a 56% to 44% of Rossana, but the latter had already generated more scoring chances that SJG, exactly four of Rossana and three SJG disturbing but it was something that was doomed to change.

Just four minutes remaining game time, Árbol Saucedo are encouraged to make a long distance shot, the shoot bounces in the crossbar above Englund and left in front of Jonathan Fana ara this auction and beat the keeper of Rossana, Faña was according to the referee in offside and the goal had been canceled, SJG still no score.

And to give a real final, four minutes into the added time, Leonidas Bregoo takes a corner kick, Rodolfo Zelaya jumps over Lou Chapman and scores the winning goal with his head, SJG victory in a sustained manner, but at least they got the three points.

In the next game, SJG will face the top seeded team of Estope, well known for his extremely and almost ridiculous strategical system of 1-0-9, a big challenge for the defence of SJG, who must deal with nine strikers, definitively a counterattack will be useful to try to win the game.

An ode to the victory.

The only condition was convinced,
their honorable commitment and effort
with our team.
A heart open to all.

Concentration as a bulwark,
feeling and passion.
Share caresses and bread
reducing the sad moments.

The precious seed sown,
careful cultivation,
a fragile bud,
a magnificent fruit.

They silenced the songs
bursts of shame
riddling the defense of the honour.
Fear and grievances were harvested.
He humbled the noble deed
torturing content
and trying to kill that pesky Hicanans.

The triumph of courage and talent
that day when we punched two Hicanans
the glorious goal to the fans and to the glorious land.

Against abandonment and falsehood.
Challenging handling,
Grab it seem
footballs and goals.
A new song
unison everywhere
to do so rebellious
heat of all.
A poem to victory!
A poem to you, my national team!
Glorious team who defeated and swept the scum
Glorious persons who punched two Hicanans
Brave people who kicked four members of the Hicanan team
Despite of two Sakhalintsy crushed in defense of the homeland
Let the motherland reward you for your effort
Keep forward Sakhalin!

The pegasus was stood at the edge of the technical area, calmly surveying the green expanse of pitch that lay before him, a wry smile twisting his face.

Now and then he would raise a hoof and bring it crashing down on the grass, just to emphasise a point. His calm demeanour spoke volumes of his quiet confidence; confidence that his little foals would charge their opposition and crush them beneath their hooves, confidence that the hours of meticulous preparation would pay dividends of the richest sort.

They were seeing out the final minutes of the game now. It had been a routine procession, exertion kept to the bare minimum as the foals wrapped the game in cotton wool after getting that decisive goal. In truth, Mad Dash wasn't even sure that his team deserved all the credit for engineering the massive landslide; their opponents had been in truly shambolic form. The game had been over as a meaningful contest from the moment the ball took an awkward deflection off a stretching Reykjavik and ended up in the net.

That had been thirty-two minutes ago. Since then, the Wolves had scored a further two goals without reply; a four-goal cushion established at this late stage, Mad Dash could afford the luxury of giving a few of his untested foals a run out. With an imperceptible shake of his majestic, flame-tinged mane, the pegasus instructed two of his players to get going with their warm-ups. They would get to have their first taste of representing the country. The first cap was always a special occasion, and even more so when it came in a multiversal competition that was actually of some consequence.

Mad Dash watched, a glint of an emotion approaching paternal pride twinkling in his eyes, as the two young fillies nervously goose-stepped onto the pitch after slapping hands with the players they were replacing.

The sight of them reminded the pegasus fondly of the shaky, knock-kneed foals that he'd seen on an impromptu visit to a schoolhouse, modelled after Ponyville Schoolhouse in Equestria, a decade ago. Cute little things, they were; almost falling over themselves to get an impression of his hoof on some special material. One little grey filly - her name and extraction evaded Mad Dash at the moment - had been particularly assertive; pestering the pegasus with questions on hoofball - how goals were scored, how the offside rule worked, and even went so far as to ask him if the Ponies would soon be sitting proudly on top of the hallowed pedestal that was the KPB rankings.

Ah, he remembered now; she had been an earth pony. A dear little 'un with a smile bright enough, he was sure, to illuminate the dark nights of Discord's reign of chaos and disharmony, such was the wattage. She had been sitting silently in a secluded corner when he first made his entrance; emanating a distant aura even as she munched on an apple. He remembered being intrigued by this quiet little filly, whose behaviour was in such stark contrast to the rest of her mates. After he'd dispatched the rest of the class, Mad Dash had approached her and tried, a little unconvincingly, to make small talk.

His efforts were fruitless for the most part. Try making casual conversation about sweet cupcakes and marshmallows when you don't know the first thing about them! - Mad Dash remembered thinking that, rather ungraciously. At last, driven to exasperation by her monosyllabic responses, the pegasus tried turning to an alternative topic - hoofball, the one subject that he felt able to knowledgeably discourse upon with young foals.

"Well, I used to play hoofball for a living. Do you know much about the sport?" Posing the question with affectionate smile on his face, Mad Dash was prepared to be met by the same, solid wall of silence that had greeted his previous overtures. Imagine his surprise, then, when the little filly perked her ears up, and shyly shifted her gaze - a gaze that was now brimming with adoration.

" ... yes. I like hoofball, very much."

They spent the remaining two hours of Mad Dash's visit huddled together in the corner of the classroom in companionable chatter. Throughout his conversation with the earth pony, Mad Dash got to know plenty about her - she was a shy, retiring pony with a dream. A dream to, one day play for the Equestrian States' national hoofball team, despite her recurring health problems. Mesmerised by the swift, attractive brand of hoofball that the Ponies played under the guidance of their long-serving manager Twilight Striker and inspired by the exploits of the same, she had started following the national hoofball team avidly and never missed a match whenever she could catch one.

" ... it's my dream to play for the Ponies one day."

The quaint statement, delivered in such an innocent manner, brought an insensitive chortle from him. Immediately, the filly flushed a bright shade of red. Puffing her cheeks out in annoyance and no little degree of anger, she averted her eyes. The awkward silence from before descended once again as fat tears rolled down the filly's muzzle; Mad Dash was left scrambling for apologetic words to repair his mistake.

"I'm sorry. That was a stupid thing to do." An honest apology escaped his muzzle.

Wiping the tears from her eyes, she mumbled quietly under her breath, "You must think I'm just another pony indulging in wishful thinking. It's not just any old pony who can earn the right to play for the national hoofball team, am I right?"

"No, not in the least. At the very least, I can assure you that with the proper application and guidance, anypony can be a top hoofball player. It's no exaggeration to say that you could be playing for the Ponies in the near future!"

Rash it undoubtedly was. A transparent, white lie. Mad Dash was utterly disgusted by the words he was spewing. Here he was, the assistant manager of the Equestrian States' national hoofball team, dispensing cheap, untrue advice in order to cover his own failings. But all Mad Dash cared about, at that very moment, was to salvage the situation - he didn't doubt for one second that the filly would dissolve into a puddle of tears if he had crushed her dreams with another errant sentence.

Idiot. I really should think twice before speaking. Mad Dash mentally reproached himself as he looked on helplessly at the crying filly. It took the better part of ten minutes for her to calm down and regain her composure.

" ... is that the truth?"

Mad Dash nodded weakly. "It is indeed."

The filly smiled, a weak smile through the veil of tears that nonetheless stirred Mad Dash's heartstrings. Gradually, the two of them brought the conversation back on track, and by the end of his visit she was chattering away as cheerfully as ever. Mad Dash, observant pegasus that he was, couldn't help noticing that she wore a slightly sad smile on her face throughout. It was as if she'd resigned herself to the fact that her dreams were nothing more than ephemeral illusions, wavering tantalisingly in and out of her reality, always just out of her reach.

In that instant, Mad Dash felt a sharp pang of regret, and with it, a dull ache, emanate within his being. With a single thoughtless expression of incredulity, unintended as it was, he had dented the pony's hopes of being a pro hoofball player - and, if he was quite honest with himself, possibly destroyed her dreams altogether.

He couldn't bear to see the little filly like this. And so, impulsively, he tried to make up for his earlier callous act.

"I'll see to it, my dear. I'll make you into the finest hoofball player the Equestrian States has ever seen."

" .. ehh?" The instant she heard those words, the little filly turned abruptly to face the pegasus, her slightly slack-jawed face betraying her surprise.

... you'll play for the Ponies one day, my dear. I give you my word.

Jolted from his reverie by the sharp blast of the referee's whistle, Mad Dash opened his eyes to find his opposite number striding towards him, hand outstretched. He gave the man's hand a perfunctory grasp before slipping off into the tunnel at a trot, the faint hint of a smile still lingering on his countenance.

He remembered the filly's name now.

Yes, her name was Shimmer Rain.

A week prior to the tournament
He'd expected a call. But it hadn't been this one.
Hadrian Belfast picked up the phone, smiling a little at the cheerful, kitschy ringtone. "Yeah. Belfast."
"Relax, Hadrian," said Auburn Bywater with a quiet chuckle. "You're gonna be shocked to figure this out, but you have, in fact, made the cut from the preliminary 30-man squad."
"Hah. Yeah, cheers, Auburn. When did you-"
"Oh. There's something else." There was a pause over the other end of the line, but Hadrian could faintly hear her clicking her tongue. A nervous habit she had when she thought she was in private, could never hide, and refused to acknowledge. "I mean. So obviously Stokesy's retired."
"Right."
"And Cath Harper didn't make the cut. So. ... You see where I'm going with this?"
Christ. ... Is she? Hell, I don't want to sound presumptuous. Better to make her say it. "Afraid I don't follow," Hadrian lied breezily.
More faint clicking. "Riiight... well, like. The armband. Hasn't really got any arm t' be on, like. You follow? ... Look, we need a new captain."
"Isn't Snowy next in line?"
"Yeah. Well. Yeah. But like. That was last year, you catch my drift? He's okayed it. Consummate professional, that lad."
"Alright. Why me?"
"Well, I'll be honest here. You were my choice. First thing's first, you're probably the best Nepharim player ever."
"... Oh."
"I mean, let's keep it real here, you were in the Team of the Year of one of the best leagues in the world. I think it's sort of become official that you've Made It. You're one of the best defenders in the world, and you can't argue with quality, y'know?"
"Well... you can."
"Well, we won't," growled Auburn. Hadrian knew to drop the subject by that stage. "Anyway, that's only part of it. There's also the fact that you're a solid dressing-room presence, and one that generally agrees with us. And you're well-respected, and well-liked. Hell, at 28, you've got the age for it too. Nobody's raising eyebrows at that."
"Pretty convincing argument."
"I shouldn't have to be trying to sell it! You want the damn thing, don't you?"
"I mean, it's an honour," said Hadrian hastily. Last thing he wanted was for it to be taken away immediately. And, hell, it made sense.
"So you're accepting it, right?" said Auburn wearily.
Hadrian paused. This would be a turning point in his career. He'd been used to playing the role of the young talented prospect in the squad, learning from others but promising everything in the world. And, well, he'd ultimately fulfilled that promise, though it'd looked shaky for a while. And now, the shoe would start to be on the other foot - it'd be him leading, him commanding. Hadrian Belfast as a senior figure, a rolemodel. The new generation of defenders, the likes of Kieran Ritter and Markus Rhein, they'd look at him the same way he'd thought of Rook Harm and Lukas Strongnesse back in the day.
That'd take a bit of getting used to. But hell, if he had the role, he'd take it with both hands.
"I'll take it, and lead by example," said Hadrian firmly. "Is that all you needed?"
"Eh? Uh... yeah. Cheers, Hadi."
Auburn hung up, and Hadrian slumped back in a chair to reflect. Captain of Nephara... it sure was something to think about.
