Founding and the origins of a company

In 1946, entrepreneur Howard Sanders founded Sanders Mining after the purchased a coal mine with inheritance he received from the death of his wealthy uncle, Samuel Sanders. The success of this first mine led Sanders to purchase a second, an iron mine located near his first. When the mine was discovered to contain a large amount of diamond, Sanders struck it rich. Not willing to stop there, he began purchasing nearby competitors with the profits he made from the diamonds. As the company expanded, they took over more mines and other companies and by 1964, Sanders mining was the largest mining corporation in United Gordonopia, controlling 40% of the nations mining industry. When the remaining competition refused to sell, Sanders looked toward other industries to continue his company’s expansion. In 1966, he bought up a beverage company from his hometown that he enjoyed as a child, G-Soda, and took it to the national level. Within four years marked by aggressive expansion, the newly named Sanders Enterprises controlled not only 52% of the nation’s mines, but every major restaurant and grocery store in the country sold G-Soda products.

Death of a visionary and the origins of today’s company

By 1970, Sanders Enterprises was one already a large and well known company nationwide. That year, however, the company was changed by the tragic death of its founder, Howard Sanders. When his son, Richard, took over, he made the fateful decision to change the name of the company. When the decision was finalized, Gordonopian Enterprises was born, and Sanders Mining was changed to Gordonopian Mining to match. Two years after Howard’s death, Imperial Hotels, one of the nation’s premier hotel chains was purchased. Following his father's moves with G-Soda, the hotel chain was expanded rapidly, causing it to become the second largest hotel chain by 1978. With the success of Imperial, Richard began looking in to potential new divisions before finally settling on the locally successful fast food chain Megaburger. In 1982 the company had 70 successful restaurants. Ten years later there were over 1,500 Megaburger stores around the country. Before the 90’s began; Ritchie began looking into the fast growin Gordonopian video game industry. At the time, there was only one major console, the Adamian Savato. In 1987, Gordonopian Games, the first division created in-house, was launched and maintained a brief third party relationship with Adamian. Using the knowledge they gained from hands on experience with Adamian’s newest console, the Titri, they created a console of their own, the G-System; a console with a 16 bit processor that not only had superior capabilities then the Titri, but also had a lower price. It went on to sell over 37,000,000 units nationwide.

The 90’s becomes a decade of even greater expansion

By the time Richard died in 1991, Gordonopian Enterprises was the nation’s largest company. His son, Samuel, wanted to build on that success. Starting the year after his father’s death, Samuel made the 1990’s the decade of the company’s greatest expansion. He began by creating Gordonopian Global News, the country’s first all news channel. With huge resources and skilled reporters, the channel was the number one cable channel by 1998, when it left cable to broadcast locally. The next industry to be entered by the company was the new mobile phone industry. Gordon Mobile was created, and when it was launched in 1996, it already had more coverage then any other existing company. Sales soared, and it became the nation’s largest carrier by 1999. Gordonopian Enterprises entered the insurance business two years later when the insurance giant GInsurance began looking for buyers after several poor business years. The company was purchased in 1998, and for ten years stayed a strong part of the company (GInsurance was sold off in 2008). The final expansion of the decade happened in 1999 when Deska Mart, a retail giant in Northern Gordonopia, was purchased by the conglomerate for a several billion USD.

Into the new millennium and beyond

In 2004, Gordonopian Enterprises was larger then any other company in the nation. With more revenue then even Gordonopian Arms, nothing could stop this industry giant. The company’s final acquisition before going global was Gordonopian Bank, a large banking firm from Gordonopia City. Finally, in 2008, the company made the decision to go global. Five divisions, Gordonopian Games (backed by its new Cronos Elite), Mega Burger (selling franchises), Gordonopian Global News (looking for new countries to broadcast to), G-Soda (distributing its products to supermarkets and restaurants), and Imperial Hotels (opening locations in foreign countries) began opening up to global markets. The first few expansions were small, until the first major international division, Turkish-Gordonopian Enterprises, was created using all five divisions. Since the expansion, SuperBurger has been added to the list of divisions along with Tolten Automotive and Union Global Airlines, and Gordonopian Enterprises took a 49% stake in Sky Corporation. Where will Gordonopian Enterprises go next? No one knows.

Gordonopian Games
Image

In 1987, Gordonopian Enterprises, one of United Gordonopia’s largest companies, made the decision to expand into the nation’s growing video game industry. After a short two year partnership producing games for the only notable manufacturer in the country, Adamian Inc., the newly created Gordonopian Games released a console of their own, the G-System. This system, released in 1989, revolutionized the nation’s gaming market. The system shattered previous sales records selling over 37 million units by the end of its lifespan. The system featured many well known games (most notably Age of Myths, the predecessor to the Age of Legends series) and was sold until 1995.
In 1994, the GMEGA, a 32 bit system by Gordonopian Games was released to the public. Selling over 350,000 units on the first day alone, the new system took the country by storm. Not only was it the first system in Gordonpia to utilize 3D graphics, but it also broke its predecessor’s sales records, selling nearly 42 million units by the time it was discontinued. The console not only expanded on existing series’ like Age of Myths, but it saw the creation of new ones like Orion. The GMEGA ended sales in 2001.
The new millennium saw the release of Gordonopian Games’ next console, the Cronos. Being disk based, the games were far more detailed and complex then its predecessor’s cartridge based games. When it was announced that the console would utilize analog sticks, gamers were thrilled. Stores struggled to keep it on the shelves, and the games that were made for it such as Orion II and III (the trilogy’s final game) and Age of Legends I and II were often critically acclaimed. By the time it was discontinued in 2009, the console had sold over 63 million units, shattering all expectations.
The Cronos Elite is now available around the world. With revolutionary graphics and high quality games, the console has seen success far and wide, and has made Gordonopian Games the worlds largest video game corporation. Some of the console’s most notable games include Age of Legends III, Orion: Revival, and the upcoming Phantom. The console is used even on airlines, such as Union Global and Lexair. Now, foreign companies are now being offered the opportunity to help further the expansion of this fantastic console.

Business Opportunities

The first opportunity is becoming a Regional Distributor. Regional Distributors are the only legal distributors of the Cronos Elite in the countries they operate in. Shipments of the consoles will be made monthly, and the number included will be based on an order by you. 100,000 consoles per month, and accompanying first party games, are free with the title. Each additional 100,000 consoles cost $15,000,000 USD. You are responsible for domestic distribution and advertising. The cost of becoming a Regional Distributor is $5,000,000 USD per year, and 10% of profits made from console and game sales.

The second opportunity available is the use G-Connect Servers. G-Connect enhance user’s gaming experience by offering them online gameplay. G-Connect features include chat, media downloads, game demos, multiplayer gameplay, and more. G-Connect servers help boost sales, and it is recommended (but not required) that regional distributors purchase them. Each server can handle up to 100,000 players. Each server is encoded with a country code matching the one inside each Cronos Elite, ensuring only consoles purchased from you can use your servers (although servers allow players to connect with other players worldwide). G-Connect servers are $50,000 each.

The third and final product available is the right to produce third party games for the Cronos Elite. Only companies who purchase these rights are legally allowed to create games for the console. Rights are available on a year-by-year basis. You are allowed to create as many of the game as you want, but you are responsible for distribution and advertising. Third Party Production rights are $500,000 for one game per year, $700,000 for two games per year, and $100,000 for each additional game.

Megaburger

Image

In 1977, Ronald Ordway had an idea. He wanted to take his life savings and create a new restaurant, a fast food restaurant. In his home city of Fusba, he created Mega Burger, a fast food burger restaurant serving three basic sandwiches, the Mega Burger, the Mini Burger, and the Crispy Chicken Sandwich, along with fries and drinks. The restaurant was so popular that within two years he’d already opened up seven more using money from his first restaurant and from several investors. In 1980, another sandwich, the Mega 2 was added to the menu, and 17 more stores were opened. Over the next two years, expansion continued at an astonishing rate, and by 1982 there were already 70 Mega Burgers in Fusba and its suburbs.
Looking to expand into new markets, Gordonopian Enterprises purchased the chain that year, and the new division took off. Over the next ten years, the chain added two new sandwiches and a kids menu, and grew to over 1,500 stores nationwide after buying out the only large competitor Teuto Burger. Since 1992, Mega Burger has added over 3,500 additional restaurants, bought up four other chains, and added several new menu items. Mega Burger is now global, and is always looking to expand to new locations country. Franchises are now available to companies around the world, and it’s time to expand to your nation.

National Divisions are a division of Mega Burger owned by a foreign company. For $10,000,000 and 10% of profits from sales, your company will receive all of the supplies for ten mega burger stores, including 40% of the building costs. With those ten stores, you will also receive a distribution center. For each additional $8,000,000 and 10% of profits, you will recieve an additional ten stores and an extra distribution center.

Gordonopian Global News
Image

It was the beginning of the 1990’s in Gordonopia and when you turned on the TV, what did you find? CGB, NGT, and other typical television stations. If you had cable you had sports, kid’s channels, food networks, and a few others. Something was missing. That something was news. Television news was only on three times a day in Gordonopia, and you had to go to the newspaper to get more. Then, in 1991, that all changed. Samuel Saunders, President of Gordonopian Enterprises, announced the creation of Gordonopian Global News, the nations first all-news television station. For a few months, some people laughed. “Why would we need news all the time?” they said. But by the end of the year, people were hooked. They loved the flow of information. Thanks resources and highly skilled reporters, GGN was the largest and most watched cable channel in the nation by 1998, with viewership of some prime time shows reaching over 70 million. Finally, that same year, GGN left cable to broadcast locally. Now, GGN is broadcast worldwide. Popular shows include Global News at Nine, War in the World, Politics with John Dannison, and Econowatch. 16 hours of programming are broadcast to the countries that receive GGN, while the local GGN stations make up for the other eight. Corporations can now apply to advertise on GGN, submit stories, and recieve GGN stations in their country.

If you become an global advertiser on our show, your ad will be broadcast to billions around the world. Our average global viewership is in the billions with some shows reaching as high as 30 billion , and that number is expected to rise as GGN continues its expansion. There are two slots available on programs, and the ad can be shown more then once. Cost of advertising is $200,000 per ad, per show. If you are interested, fill out the form at the end of the letter titled advertiser. You may not advertise for military products.

Broadcasters are any company or government that pays to broadcast our network
Broadcasters receive the following:
A headquarters building constructed by Gordonopian Enterprises in your country.
16 Hours of programming broadcast via satellite
8 hours (including some prime time) open for local broadcast
Free access to all archived shows
The cost of a channel is $150,000,000 per year for nations with less than 1 billion in population and $400,000,000 for nations with a population of over 1 billion, along 10% of profits.
You will be responsible to fill the advertising spots not filled by global advertisers.

G-Soda

Image

In 1909, Forrest Thompson traveled from his hometown of Harad in Northern Gordonopia to the national capitol, Gordonopia City. When he was there, he became employed by Morton Cola, an upstart soda company. During his two years there, he learned the process involved in making cola, and when he returned home, he decided to create a company of his own. Founded in 1912, G-Soda became a local favorite. The signature drink was G-Cola, similar to Morton Cola but with several changes in ingredients. In 1920, he was selling his drink in most of the restaurants and all of the grocers in the city. Five years later, he introduced his next drink, Squish. Squish was a lemon-lime flavored drink that Traeger created after trying a similar drink on an international vacation. It to was a hit, and the company was selling to every grocer in the region. The Traegers himself never expanded further, but over the years introduced two more drinks, Traeger's Root Beer and Lemonade. Then, in 1966, Forrest’s son Wilbur sold the company to Howard Saunders, a childhood classmate and fellow Harad native.
Saunders aggressively expanded the company, and four years later, every major restaurant and most of the nation’s grocers sold G-Soda products. In 1982, G-Soda was added to the newly Gordonopian Enterprises owned Mega Burger. In 1986, G-Soda’s most recent product, Diet G (a diet version of G-Cola) was introduced. Diet G now sells second of G-Soda's products, beaten only by G-Cola. The last major retail store to begin selling G-Soda was Deska Mart, after the retail giant was obtained by Gordonopian Enterprises.

Now your company can profit from this liquid money. G-Soda is always looking to expand into new markets, and any restaurant or grocer looking to expand their product line should look into selling G-Soda products in their stores. Weekly shipments of G-Cola are available. All of our cola products will be shipped to all of your locations for the low price of only $5,000 per restaurant or $10,000 per retail store.

Gordon Mobile
Image

In the early to mid 1990s, Gordonopia’s small, but growing, mobile phone network was dominated by two companies, Link Mobile, and Horizon. Both of these companies unfortunately covered only the major cities, making mobile phones for people in rural areas impossible. In 1995, Samuel Saunders decided to change that. Samuel used Gordonopian Enterprises to create Gordon Mobile, a new cellular phone carrier that would make cell phones available for all. Towers were set up nationwide, and when the company launched in 1996, Gordon Mobile had more coverage then Link Mobile and Horizon combined. 82% of the nation was covered, and that last 18% would be added within four years. Cell phones sold faster then they could be made, and the public loved them. By 2008, 600 million Gordonopians owned cellular phones, and 80% of them used Gordon Mobile. After over ten years operating nationally, Gordon Mobile is ready to go global. There are several packages available for companies to purchase that would benefit themselves, their country, and Gordonopian Enterprises.

The first package is the Population Centers Package. Each package will cover an urban area of up to 50,000,000 people, and multiple packages can be purchased. Purchasing companies open and operate the stores that sell the phones, and they also keep 40% of the profit from contracts and 90% of the profit from phone sales. The price of this is $45,000,000 per year for each center in addition to revenue percentages.

The Fifty-Fifty package is where half of a nation's population will receive coverage. The purchaser is responsible for stores, but you receive 50% of contract revenue along with 90% of phone sale profits. Total price is $250,000,000 per year for nations below one billion population, $400,000,000 for nations between one billion and two billion, and $100,000,000 for each additional billion.

The Full Coverage package is just that, your entire nation's population will be covered. Like the other two packages, the purchaser is still responsible for maintaining stores, but will also receive 50% of profit from contracts and all of the profits from phone sales. The total price is $450,000,000 per year for nations below one billion people, $600,000,000 for nations between one and two billion, and an additional $200,000,000 for each additional billion people.

PLEASE NOTE: Gordon Mobile is not available in nations served by Skymedia

Imperial Hotels

Image

It’s 1764, and The Republic of United Gordonopia won’t exist for another hundred years. Instead, the nation is The Empire of United Gordonopia. The Raleigh Dynasty holds the throne, and the son of a wealthy merchant from Teva decided he doesn’t wish to follow in his father’s footsteps. Instead, he wants to open an inn. When he finally manages to acquire a plot of land and enough money to open, he decides to call it the Imperial Inn. Thanks to Teva’s status as the country’s main port, business is good, and the merchant, Robert Millthorne, is able to sustain his family in a nice house on the waterfront.
Fast forward to 1842. The great civil war won’t happen for another ten years. John Millthorne, Great-Great Grandson of Robert is now in possession of the inn that his family has owned for generations. The young man decided he wants more. He decided that he wants to open another inn under the same name 20 miles away in the port town of Cathay. This is the beginning of the Imperial Hotels chain. Over the next 40 years, four more hotels all named the Imperial Inn are opened by the Millthorne family. Each hotel is progressively larger and nicer. After all of the existing hotels are redone to match the latest inn in Burnside, Gordon Millthorne, John’s son changes the name from inn to hotel. He decides he wants to create a national company of hotels, and sets out to do so.
Every two years for the next three decades, Gordon opened a new hotel. The result is that by the beginning of the 1910s, Imperial Hotels had expanded to include over 20 high class hotels around the country. By 1930, the company had a hotel in every major city in the country, and the total had reached over 60. Growth stayed constant at about two per year over the next forty years. By 1972, the 200 year old chain had over 140 hotels nationwide, making it the fifth largest chain in the nation. That same year, the newly renamed Gordonopian Enterprises acquired the chain from Derrick Millthorne, the last Millthorne to control the company after nine generations.
Following in his own father’s footsteps, Ritchie Sanders, the CEO of Gordonopian Enterprises expanded the chain rapidly, so that by 1978 it had already overtaken three competitors in size, and had retained the luxury and quality standard set by the Millthorns over 100 years ago.
Still the second largest hotel chain in the nation, Imperial Hotels is looking to expand elsewhere now that the supply of luxury hotels in Gordonopia has met its demand.

Deska Mart

Image

For most of the Republic's history, retail was handled by local markets, with large cities often having hundreds of small companies. In the late 1960's, that all changed. The Gordonopia City Retail Coalition, or GCRC, was incorporated in 1967 as a coalition of the retailers in Gordonopia City. With larger bargaining power and other benefits of large companies, the coalition idea spread quickly across the nation. By the middle of the 1970's, every major city in United Gordonopia had its own coalition. Enter Deska Mart.
Deska, often known as Gordonopia' 'Second City', was home to a coalition made up of over 1000 small food and general merchandise retailers. After agreement after agreement was made, by the time 1975 came around these stores were effectively a single organization. Finally, the largest decided to split and create a single corporation, Desk Mart. These larger stores were remodeled to contain both general merchandise and groceries. The idea proved widely successful, and when the 1980's rolled around, there were almost five hundred Deska Marts in Deska and the surrounding area, up from around 150 when it was created.
Deska Mart quickly became the dominant retail force of Northern Gordonopia, and throughout the 80's, it grew to over 1,000 stores taking up nearly 65% of the North's retail market. Growth throughout the 90's, was slow, however, as there was little room for expansion in the North, and Deska was having difficulty breaking into the highly competitive retail market of central Gordonopia, home to three other similarly sized companies.
At the end of the decade, in 1999, Deska Mart was purchased by Gordonopian Enterprises in a massive buyout. New features were added into stores such as small Mega Burger locations and Gordon Mobile kiosks, later adding small branches of Gordonopian Bank. These additions were enough to give Deska Mart a foothold in other regions, and today Deska is the largest retail chain in United Gordonopia, with over 5,000 stores nationwide. In 2010, Deska Mart is now the final company in the Gordonopian Enterprises family to go global. Operations are beginning in nine nations around the world, and there are opportunities for Deska Mart to enter your nation.

As all Desk Marts are corporate owned stores, the following form must be completed by a national government, granting permission for Desk Mart to begin operations.

As the Gaming market in Grittonia is very large, we would also like 1000 servers.

ooc: 100,000,000 people with only 100,000 consoles per month? That would take you 1000 months to fill, almost 100 years. maybe start with 10 or 12 servers

We would be more then happy to open a brand in your country. As you know more about your people then we do, we would like to know which of our divisions would operate under this brand name. If there are any regional altercations that would be required, for example a change in mega burgers menu to fit regional traditions, we would be more then happy to do so.

Sincerely,
Gordonopian Enterprises

All your divisions can operate under the brand, but the Mega Burgers will be due to extra health regulations.

So, to begin with, a national division will be created for Gordonopian Games, Mega Burger, G-Soda, Gordonopian Global News, and Imperial Hotels, which will all be under the brand of Turkish-Gordonopian Enterprises. Other divisions will be added as they go global.

If this is acceptable, we will begin operations within a month.
