In Silver Beach, if the monarch dies, the President of the Senate takes monarchial duties, while the monarch's children gather in Lulika City, then the council of elders of the tribes of Oolanda and Lugave and the chief of Minoaa meet and elect the next monarch. There would be 23 votes

3. A special Plenum of the party Central Committee and Politburo elects one of the candidates (or aproves the one candidate, as the case may be);
4. This new Candidate General Secretaryassumes the General Secretary's powers, and rules alongside the Chairman;
5. A meeting of the Party Congress is called in order to ratify the new General Secretary (and possibly replace him with another);
6. The new, fully ratified General Secretary assumes the full powers of both General Secretary and Vozhd.

It has been a long-debated issue on whether the Chancellors- the TS heads of state -are royals. They wear crowns, they don sashes, they are annointed at the coronation ceremony (for lack of a better word), and they have extreme, sweeping plenary veto and override powers. However, they are addressed as "Your Excellency", and their line of succession is not dynastic nor inherited, but it isn't elected, either, and there are two Chancellors, not one, both bound by the Constitution and impeachable.

During their rule, a Chancellor selects eleven successors of their species. Any non-human (no human Chancellor), natural-born citizen of TurtleShroom in good standing (AKA little to no criminal record, good morals) can be chosen as a Successor, and gender, religion (excluding banned ones), sexual orientation, and type of turtle or mushroom are not factors.

These blessed twelve recieve no benefits or preivelages as Successors, other than a sash and a staff which they are, by law, required to wear and carry whenever they can (turtles don't get a Staff).

When a Chancellor dies, the eleven Successors and the surviving Chancellor are summoned to the largest Baptist mega-church in the country, and they stand on the roof. Two golden dice with red dots are presented and tossed off the roof by the surviving Chancellor, in an ancient process called casting lots. The number on the dice when they land corresponds to each of the twelve Successors. If both Chancellors die, then it is the responsibility of the Judgemaster (the Chief Justice of the civil Supreme Court AND the equivalent to Speaker of the House) to cast the lots.

Casting lots is considered a divinely inspired process, not gambling. It is thought to represent the will of the Judeo-Christian God. Whatever Successor holds the number that the dice land on becomes the next Co-Chancellor of the Holy Republic of TurtleShroom. Rolling a six results in a repeat. Rolling a six three times in a row stops the casting and postpones it to the next Saturday. Therefore, Successors are numbered 1-5 and 7-12. Also, since the number one does not exist on two dice, rolling a seven sends the lots into a special tiebreaking process that is jokingly called "Sudden Death". In Sudden Death, ivory dice with yellow dots are brought out. All even numbers are for Successor One, and all odd numbers are for Successor Seven.


Irregardless, the winner is then sent through the ceremonies to assume power.


The official term of this method of selection is Cleromancy.

Many foreigners see this method of succession as insane and archaic, but supporters are quick to point out that all twelve Successors were approved and nominated by the Chancellors in power long before their death, so nothing evil should happen, and if it does, the surviving Chancellor (or the other winner) can check-and-balence him. Both Chancellors most act in unison to do any of their powers, as a method of preventing a single dictator.

Opponents state that Chancellors could just as easily be elected, and that succession by a pair of dice is stupid, archaic, and not accurate in reflecting God's will (if they believe in Him at all). These groups, called "referendum mongerers", go into liberal and conservative sections. Liberal referendum mongerers state that anyone and everyone should run for Chancellor, majority rule. Conservative mongerers claim that the Chancellor should be elected among the twelve chosen successors by all eligible voters in TurtleShroom, democratically. Then, there are always the liberals and anarchists who want the position erased.

Casting lots has decided every Chancellor in TurtleShroom since the nation's founding.

We don't have a leader. If the Prime Minister died, Cabinet meetings might be a bit chaotic without a chairman but it's unlikely that anybody would notice the difference. Eventually, Parliament would choose a new Prime Minister.

The same goes for any other Cabinet post. The civil servants of the Ministry would carry on as usual until a new Minister was chosen by Parliament.

The Adrian Empire does not have a single leader, rather a triumvirate composed of the Emperor, Consul and High Chancellor in the event that one of the leader dies the other two will lead until another can be appointed through usual process, which is:

For the Emperor: Chosen from the Designated Heirs of the Emperor, or Closest Kin by a Senate Committee with approval from the Citizen's Council

For the Consul: Another senator is elected by senate at the next session

For the High Chancellor: Another councillor is elected from the council at next session

If all three men or women died at the same time then the line of succession follows along the High Chancellor's cabinet then council

Should the monarch die, the first person in the line of succession takes over. In order to take over the throne, you must be either be a natural born citizen or have at least one parent born in the United Rivera. Because of the citizenship rule, members of the family who marry foreigners find that their foreign-born children are in the Riverian line of succession, but not their later descendants born in a different country, such as grandchildren. This rule would currently apply to the Royal Doña and the Princess Charlotte Renata's children, born in America and Belgium, respectably. Should there be absolutely no one left in the line of succession (as in the case of 1895 and 1897), then an election is held to elect a new king, usually from the Riverian nobility.

The Xanthalian Constitution does not define an order of succession for political leaders. It has become accepted practice for Triumvirs and members of the Assembly to maintain a sealed list of people to succeed them if they are incapacitated or killed in office. The first person on the list who is eligible and willing takes on the office until the next election for that office. In the absence of such a list, or if no-one on the list is willing and able to serve, a special election may be called.
