Motorsports Electrum News

In other news, things have not been going so great for the Triple One Racing team of Electrum. It seems that the two players which have been recently upgraded from the national stock-racing championships, Electrum Supercars, have struggled to make their mark on the competition. Although both Jill Byrne and James Mathieson both did well last year, in this totally new tournament, they have underperformed -- both struggling on different parts of the racing. Jill Byrne tends to do much better in the qualification, but when it comes to the actual race, she just can't push into the top ten. Meanwhile, Mathieson has been qualifying very poorly, unable to just get those fast laps in the time needed for the starting grid, but his strengths lie in playing the field, and with that strategy has only come into the top ten once, but always overtaking Byrne.

In the sixteen-turn circuit of the Vauganian Round of the NSFC, James Mathieson has managed to qualify dead last, a whole four seconds behind the pole position winner, Klianiota of Vilita and Turori Motorsports, one of the dominant powerhouses of this competition. Meanwhile, Jill Byrne has just narrowly missed out advancing to Q2-- after a ripper last lap at the end of Q1. She sailed past the finish line at the end of the qualification period, to find herself in 14th place, however, Cahill of Gloriax Racing, who was just behind her, managed to beat Jill's time by 0.1 seconds to steal the qualification spot away from her.

[Darmen]

Ilgana makes strides towards high finish, home race next

Following Billy Newman's podium finish in Vyktory, Ilgana struggled in Nekoni. Billy Newman salvaged their week somewhat with a 10th place finish and a single point, but with a Team title being the ultimate goal, much more would need to be accomplished by both drivers to achieve that goal.

A major turn around came during the race at Circuito de Respaña Viejo in the Royal Barangay, where Joshua Parks, despite qualifying in only 19th place, managed to finish 2nd. A 5 second gap between Parks and Vyktorian Bryan Wilson, was the only thing keeping Parks from earning 20 points and his first victory.

That victory would come though at the next race, as Parks used his seventh place starting position and some superb strategy to finish twelve seconds ahead of Turorian iBen Toralmintii to stand atop the podium. Parks' teammate, Newman finished seventh, giving Ilgana Automotive a 24 point week in Vaugania.

The International Super Formula Championship now moves on to Darmen for the seventh round of the season. Following iBen Toralmintii's victory last season, fans are hoping for a victory from a Darmeni driver. Neither driver though will have a very good chance of accomplishing that, with Newman starting in 19th and Parks starting all the way back in 24th, second to last.

In the Driver's Standings, Joshua Parks is third with 35 points, 15 behind Toralmintii and a single point behind Sergei Konstantinov. Billy Newman meanwhile is further down the standings in 13th with 19 points. Meanwhile, as a team, Ilgana is in third place with 54 points, 9 behind DataSat Racing and 11 behind leaders Grande Scuderia Nekoni.

Strong Results ahead of Home Race

Formula Lleidia's star driver Tjuder Fenan has told reporters that he is hopeful for his first NSFC around Lleidiafysdig - the track which he used to practice on as a child, living just outside the capital of Mela. "it obviously means a lot to me and I'm excited to see the home fans. I can always dream for a great home result after my latest streak of points but we'll have to see. There are many good drivers on the track and our car is not the best."

Doubts over McDonaldson's future?

Ylvetal driver Dustin McDonaldson could be let go from the team come the end of the season. His experience has helped the Team learn the tracks and develop the car over the season, but has been shown up by his rookie team-mate in recent qualifying sessions and has yet to complete a race. Team Manager Cearl Melnyr has reportedly been speaking to Fenan about older karting team-mates, such as Female driver Catrin Efan-Djons. We contacted McDonaldson be he refused to comment.

KLIANIOTA ELIMINATED, TORALMINTII HOLDING ON

Solibra Raceway, Itanpavia :: After overcoming a seasons-long battle with Did-Not-Finish results and pointless endeavors, Vilita & Turori's hotshot Juracai Klianiota finally made speed count in Lleidia, sweeping the weekend and running away with a dominating performance for his first win of the season - and his first completed race.

However, it seemed as if a sacrifice was involved in order to achieve that success in Lleidia as when the cars rolled off the truck in Itanpavia, there was no speed to be found for Klianiota. The Vilitan driver was stunned in the first session in Itanpavia, with the Pangkat Anutin Tabu car #99 posting a faster lap, something few if any drivers had been able to do elsewhere this season. Further complicating matters, the skies opened up by the time the second session would start and Klianiota struggled to find the speed, posting an uncharacteristic 9th place on the starting grid.

Turorian teammate iBen Toralmintii hadn't advanced to the second session but the points leader waved as he passed Klianiota on the track, en route to a top 10 finish in the wet conditions, back in the points after struggling in Lleidia.

For Klianiota, the day couldn't get much worse. Already struggling due to the wet conditions, the Tropicorp machine made multiple unscheduled pit stops for damage repairs and finished 8 laps off the pace, officially eliminating Klianiota from championship contention.

Toralmintii, on the other hand, remained atop the standings with the unknown driver from a land that never existed occupying just two points back in second place. It was unclear if the team-that-never-existed would in fact participate to challenge Toralmintii's title claim, but nevertheless, just 5 points back was one of the favorites, HIEDA Tropicorp driver Sayono Souzare seeming to ensure the title race would come down to the Sifaka tyres no matter which driver took home the honors.

A victory for any of the top 4 drivers may be enough to seal the championship, and Toralmintii will look to repeat his performance from NSFC Season 1 by stealing all the victory celebrations in the seasons final race.

Victory Within Reach
After nine of ten rounds, Sayono Souzare, the 22-year-old rookie driver from Soeshu, is within striking distance of the second International Super Formula Driver's Championship title.

Before the start of the championship, Souzare was criticised for lacking experience in Hodori's top level of open-wheel racing. After winning her second consecutive Junior Formula Challenge title, Souzare was immediately graduated to pilot the No.09 Dekijika HIEDA Tropicorp machine in what was viewed as skipping an important step in her career. While Tagako Samogi, pilot of the No.8 Dekijika Infini KizaCera NSFC machine, had multiple seasons of experience in the Yemigama HPI Formula GT series, Souzare had only a few months of practice sessions to adapt to the SF02/F170H chassis and the more powerful VS/E340E engine used.

Initially receiving criticism that her father, Team ten★GU co-founder and former ENSADRINK GT2 champion Gumicha Souzare, and uncle, current Yemigama HPI Formula GT Driver's Champion Asao Nadakei, were purely responsible for her entry to the series, Sayono quickly demonstrated her driving abilities by securing pole in the opening round and ending the weekend second on the podium. After initial difficulties with the success handicap ballast over the next two rounds, three points in Nekoni, and missing the podium in the Royal Barangay, a sudden tyre failure halfway through lap 50 at Vaugania again denied her a podium finish. Securing podium finishes in Darmen and Itanpavia, Souzare now sits third, five points behind defending champion iBen Toralmintii.

With the shackles of success handicap ballast released for the final round in Fashiontopia, Souzare will need to score a minimum of six points over Toralmintii and three over Josh Willson to claim the title of Driver's Champion. With 20 points to the winner, seventh-ranked Samogi is the lowest-placed driver capable of winning the championship title. DataSat Racing's Sergei Konstantinov, one point behind Souzare, is expected to be the lowest-ranked driver with a realistic chance of earning the title of Driver's champion.

As a single car entry, Team ten★GU — competing under the name HIEDA Tropicorp SF Team Dekijika — would face difficulty from the start of the season to claim the Team Championship title. VYK Motorsports' combined four wins and a second-place finish leave only the top four teams in the hunt, a group consisting of Grande Scuderia Nekoni, DataSat Racing, Vilita & Turori Motorsports, and the aforementioned VYK Motorsports. With Souzare's 52 points, Team ten★GU is sixth of the 15 ranked teams, seven points behind Ilgana Racing.

Regardless of the final result, all of us at Team ten★GU are proud of Sayono Souzare, and her strong debut in the International Super Formula Championship can only lead to a bright future in motorsports for her.
