Empress Hammers Erjunhite Leader; UE laughs off Sovereignty Claims in the Midst of Deploying Additional Forces to Melegean Channel

Aleniako, Tiami- The Federal Justicia- In a more vocal tone this morning, reporters witness an infuriated Adriana, one-half the acting leader of the United Empire, hammer down the Erjunhite government. It should be noted that the Alkharanians and Erjunhite have a long-standing grudge against one another dating back more than five hundred years. In the midst of possibly finding reconciliation and peace among the two nations, Adriana's comments this morning have quite possibly rendered any friendly negotiations as nonexistent. Listed below is an excerpt of her speech from earlier this morning:

"… rather laughable, if anything, I can say (In regards to accusations of being unwilling to defend the Melegean Channel). Historically, the United Empire has dedicated itself to defending it's territorial waters and from those nations that need it. Any piracy entering our EEZ and deeper territorial waters, are met with naval assets of the Imperial Navy. Due to the recent border dispute with the Imperial Federation, a plethora of fleets docked or deployed under our brother's watch, have been redeployed to Alkharania in the event that this new 'Cold War' gets hot. Despite this, the United Empire remains vehemently obligated to promoting safety and security on international waters. Further, I should exemplify that the United Empire is willing to conduct negotiations with the Triad members to come to terms on defending the Melegean Channel from terrorism and piracy."

On the Erjunhite's Claim to Sovereignty over the Melegean Channel

"I admit, I laughed considerably at the stupidity of the Erjunhite Government. The Melegean Channel is international water. Just because it bares the name of the landmass the Erjunhites reside on, does not mean it's theirs by default. There are plenty of Alkharanian naval ships roaming the channel to protect commercial ships abroad. If the Erjunhites can claim such sovereignty, then Kyra is truly fucking stupid. She of all people should know that it is international water and no country should ever claim it as their own. Claiming to extend through to the Great Northern Ocean violates the Empire's claims to dozens of small islands in the area where we have hundreds of thousands of citizens residing. It is with this that the United Empire's Naval Command will be deploying the additional Sixth and Ninth Alkharanian fleets to the Great Northern Oceans as a means to protect its citizens from Triad aggression, piracy, and terrorism. Should the Triad act in aggression, as in attack a Imperial naval assets, be it civilian or military, towards Imperial movements in the Melegean Channel or in the Great Northern Oceans, it will be considered an act of war on the United Empire."

Adriana also discussed the Telrainan theater in explicit detail. Just last month, she announced that the Alkharanian aspect of the United Empire would be conducting jointly with it's Aquilinian brother more numerous patrols in the Pakanga ocean and adjacent areas. She further reiterated this and even announced that there would be additional deployments in and around Telraina to help fight piracy and defend the sovereignty of the Telrainan nations. This goes to reiterate the Telrainan Doctrine, which was passed months ago and stated that foreign nations with no viable land holdings on the continent shall stay out of Telraina unless due cause is brought forth. Adriana also stated once again that the United Empire is dedicated to protecting it's borders and Telrainan brothers.

VILLA QUIRINA, QUIRINALIA - It was a bit strange that the Quirinese Armed Force will send few troops for the security of their dignitaries to Rodarion just to secure its foothold there untouched. The Armed Forces representative for the Southern Aleki Command Lt. General Kalima Arduna said in a press conference "that the Armed Force is justified in its earnest to send few troops to Rodarion to secure the first diplomatic entourage to Pardes."

"After reviewing the geopolitical situation of some parts in Pardes, Rodarion was considered the safest so far, although we are yet to confirm that since Pardes is a quite stirred region similar to Sondria. And since the Armed Force is yet to conduct its monthly military exercise, we believe this is an ideal step towards another defensive cooperative for both Quirina and Rodarion to partake such activities in the future." Arduna commented as she was asked by one of the journalists from The Triumphant Trumpet.

She added, "Also we are not inclined to speak about nuclear tests of the Chyekish Soviet Union, but we will leave that matter to the Viktorikan representatives to speak about it, since they are of the same page and are very strict thin with regards to military affairs. However, we are planning to conduct military tests as well, and with such, Aleki's miitary will now change course since we encouraged a pacifist approach in the ideal of maintaining security for Quirina and Sondria."

As of July 24, 2014, 0600 hours, the 25-man team of the 232th Mechanized Infantry Battalion is heading its way to Pardes and and over the Quirinese embassy in Rodarion to secure the perimeter as soon as possible.

President Blackridge Responds to United Empire Condemnation
July 28th, 2014

CARTHAGE, ERJUNHUF:

Earlier this evening, in a defiant speech in front of both houses of Parliament (transcript below), President Kyra Blackridge waved off "impotent shows of force" from the United Empire and vowed to maintain the sovereignty claimed over the Melegean Channel despite Imperial threats of intervention against the Elder Republic. The initial announcement earlier last week saw signs of positive support for Erjunhuf from across the region, whereas the United Empire has been alone in its condemnation of the act; while domestic opinion polls were only lukewarm towards the mandate initially, the most recent attempt by the United Empire to condemn the mandate resulted in a torrent of positive opinion about the adoption of the law, especially once word of Imperial fleet movements toward the Sevii Islands was announced. President Blackridge assured the nation that the military was keeping a close watch on any military movements made by the United Empire, and constant contact with allies throughout Sondria was being kept in the event the crisis flared up.

While showing a willingness to compromise with elements of the United Empire, President Blackridge also made it clear that she would not buckle to foreign military pressure. She also announced that the Erjunhite government, which has kept a tenuous relationship with Aquilinia despite that nation's monarchical coup d'etat, would no longer recognize that government as legitimate, before finally ending with an ultimatum for the United Empire to send military forces no farther than the Sevii's or face an Erjunhite response and deployment.

Since Erjunhuf emerged from isolation only a few short years ago, this is undoubtedly the most severe crisis faced by the republic thus far, and perhaps the closest the Triad and the United Empire, the regions two largest powers, have ever come close to facing each other in a broad military conflict. Tensions along the Alkharanian-Crontorian border have also been reported in recent days, a dark indication of how close the region is to boiling over into war. While hopes for a successful peace summit abound throughout the region, the situation remains tense and is likely to get worse if the United Empire continues to send forces west. There will undoubtedly be more to be reported as the situation develops.

"Ladies and gentlemen of the Parliament, citizens of the Elder Republic, and those across the region, I come before you tonight to report on the current situation regarding the Melegean Channel and the recent controversy surrounding our claims of sovereignty upon it.

First, allow me to reassure Erjunhites everywhere that we are actively tracking the movement of Imperial fleets through our waters, and have taken every precaution to ensure the security of our island; our allies within the Triad, as well as our other allies abroad, have also assured me that they stand by us. Such friends are not to be forgotten in times such as these.

Very few nations in this region are in such a situation as ourselves. We are one of the few countries entirely dependent on the oceans, not simply for trade or economic prosperity, but for our security, and indeed our very connection to Sondria itself. As a result, the security of our waters, as well as shipping lanes connecting Erjunhuf to the rest of the region, are of paramount importance, one that this nation cannot afford to lose. The recent actions of this government, namely declaring the Melegean Channel part of our sovereign territorial waters, was done with this in mind, both as a way to preserve the sanctity of our trade as well as to ensure the continued security of our nation. This was not done on a whim; countless days have been spent debating the issue until it was decided that such a mandate was required in the wake of recent tensions within the greater Sondrian region, and has been fully supported and deemed favorable by the people of this great nation.

We are also, unfortunately, closely neighbored to an empire unfriendly to our interests, antagonistic to our allies, and hostile to our very existence as a nation. The United Empire has made many claims regarding what this mandate has put forth, bold yet empty upon further glance. Their government claims that our recent action is an affront to their sovereignty over the eastern Sevii Islands; this mandate has claimed no territory of the United Empire, nor any other nation, within the EEZ limits set by the Sondrian Regional Council. They claim Triad aggression at every turn, yet instigate border disputes and conflict in Alkharania. It speaks of multilateralism throughout Sondria, yet acts unilaterally in Telrania. They act on the pretext of self-defense on our very doorstep, yet in spite of knowledge to the contrary, rather than attempting diplomacy or negotiating as they proclaim to, the United Empire has resorted to name-calling and thinly-veiled militarism at the highest levels of their government; any nation that would resort to such petty and hypocritical tactics is not worthy of the title of diplomatic power, let alone great power.

For more than five centuries, the Alkharanian people and ours have had an antagonistic relationship unlike anything the region has ever witnessed. In spite of this, Erjunhuf has attempted everything in order to rectify and try to change this dynamic, to heal old wounds of the past; let it not be forgotten that in the recent Alkharanian Civil War, it was Erjunhite troops that died liberating Martin, in order to preserve the peace there. Yet, it would appear that despite our sacrifices, the government of Alkharania is more interested in perpetuating a historical blood feud rather than helping mend our modern differences.

Let it be known here that, despite what our enemies may wish and hope for, we will not blink in the face of their naked aggression towards our security; we will stand firm and resolute in the wake of Imperial aggression. In the eyes of gods and men, I swear now that this Republic will never acquiesce as a result of military intimidation nor will it bow to foreign pressure and threats. We are a free people, and wherever our interests are threatened we will respond.

With this in mind, I have declared earlier today that this administration will no longer recognize the government of Aquilinia in its current form until the restoration of their parliament, along with all the powers it held previously to the illegal coup d'etat by the current regime; all political and diplomatic ties outside of the Sondrian Regional Council will henceforth cease until this objective has been reached, as the United Empire and Aquilinian regime have promised in the past. Trade shall be kept as status quo, nor will we impose sanctions on Aquilinia or Alkharania: our dispute is not with the Aquilinian nor Alkharanian people, but with their government, and we have no interest in harming the citizens of these lands.

These are tense times, and though we do not wish for war, the Elder Republic will not back down as a result of military bravado and impotent shows of force. If the United Empire continues to militarize along our land and sea territory, we will have no choice but to respond in kind; as of this moment, we have not deployed any military units or naval fleets in response to Imperial movements, nor do we wish to. It is within only the power of the United Empire to calm tensions now; if their fleets sail further west than the mandated EEZ, we shall deploy and meet them in kind. Unlike our aggresive neighbors, however, I am willing to negotiate a settlement that leaves both of our sides satisfied, and perhaps avert a regional catastrophe. If the United Empire is truly interested in diplomacy, then let them prove it; I invite Adriana to meet with me on the SRC Islands, to create a lasting deal both of our nations can accede to.

I believe that I have interpreted the will of Parliament and the people on this matter. If the gods are good, more peaceful times will come again; until then, we shall ride out this uncertain time with enduring vigilance and faith in ourselves. May the gods be with you all."

After a brazen public show of defiance in Aleniako by Empress Adriana, Shōgun Hyuga authorized additional rapid deployments to the Melegean Channel to blunt the advance of UE military ships into the hotly contested waters. Twenty "Sarissa" class intercontental-range bombers left bases in Bertaut and Desroches Prefectures early yesterday morning on a voyage that will take them to waiting Triad installations in the south of the country near Beaumont. We also have it from a reliable source that a pack of REC Attack Submarines, most likely of the Phobos class had been seen running on the surface transiting near The Eagleland's northwestern coast this evening by passengers on a cruise vessel that had been on a dolphin-watching expedition. This latest deployment is the most aggressive in a series of escalations by Nuku Hiva in the standoff between Triad and UE forces that threatens to boil over into a war in the frozen northern reaches of Sondria. With the Triad and UE both escalating their military presences in the Channel, it appears to only be a matter of time before one side or the other blinks.

Arsenalium Quirinam inaugurated, new developments announced

VILLA QUIRINA, QUIRINALIA - Today marks the first day of the premier arsenal and arms manufacturing facility of the Great Republic since the ascendancy of country's first president, Richard Kingston. The facility and the large arsenal made into public inauguration after steadfast reorganization and reform of the Quirinese Armed Force that started a few terms ago, at the time of Consulissimo Charles Alexander I.

According to the Director-General of the Arsenalium Halbert Dermus, he mentioned that "the facility is in its still development process but has been capable of mass production since the founding of the industrial networks of Quirina in the past wars and conflicts." He also thanked the Armed Force, and the government and the the people for trusting him such privilege and opportunity to serve his compatriots.

Large pompous parades were held in all areas of the country, particularly in Sondrian mainland, where the facility is first established. Though challenged by the so-called "post-modernistic" attitude of the country's neighbors, Dermus assured that his duty will not only to supply troops and soldiers abroad, but to improve and innovate the existing technology "without breaking the conventionalist attitude of the Quirinese technology".

Attended by the garrison troops of the Armed Force in Quirinalia, representatives from other Quirinese states were also present at the inauguration. "Hopefully, by next month or next year", Dermus states, "that we had all the networks we need to facilitate all of Quirina and his soldiers, carrying the seal of the Republic and the sign of the People of Quirina as duty calls."

Plans to expand the rocket technology of the Arsenalium was also unhindered, with the effort of the Science Bureau of the Ministry of Technological Development to undertake tests, including ICBM launches, safer nuclear detonations and improvement of the nuclear arsenal. When asked about the nuclear weapons and the membership in two nuclear arms disarmament coalitions (Nuclear Arms Assembly and Hohenfriedberg Convention), Dermus just shrugged about it and ignored the question.

The facility is disclosed to only a vague address, which is in Quirinalia, but speculated to be in Viktorika since the latter houses the largest weapons arsenal in whole of Quirina, which is the State Zero. Dermus never mentioned of the address and location since "it will hamper the Arsenalium's work". Asked about the DPRs (domestic production rights) to many arms procurement agencies, Dermus quoted that "the matter is for the Militum Quirinorum to reply to, and is yet to be renamed as well." The Triumphant Trumpet asked the Minister of Economic Affairs of the matter, saying that "procurement will continue, but will be very few and small since the country has now its own, only for emergency production phases can be considered the procurement reasonable." The Minister also mentioned that the Arsenalium will not open for foreign procurement.

Imperial Federation Claims Ocronian Sea; Condemns United Empire

Portmor, Lusitor- Following heightened tensions between the Triad and the United Empire regarding the Erjunhite claim of the Melegean Channel, the Imperial Federation has responded today with its own series of claims. Speaking today at Northern Command Headquarters in the city of Portmor, against the backdrop of the Ocronian Sea, President Cranico firmly declared its waters sovereign Crontorian territory. This is the second such declaration from a Triad nation in recent weeks, following the announcement by the Elder Republic of Erjunhuf that the waters of the Melegean Channel fell under their control.

“The Ocronian Sea,” declared Cranico, “is an indispensable part of the Imperial Federation’s sovereign waters. For thousands of years, our people have fished, traded, and traveled across its vast expanses and it was across the Ocronian that we established our first colonies in Beblis. The historical and political significance of this territory cannot be discounted and in an age of rising security concerns, we must do everything within our power to ensure the Imperial Federation remains secure. Henceforth, all non-Triad military traffic is hereby banned within the confines of the Ocronian Sea and any attempts to breach the Ocronian Sea by non-Triad military assets will be met with the full force of the Crontorian Armed Forces.”

“In addition,” Cranico added, “the Imperial Federation has grown increasingly disappointed in the seeming incompetence and lack of civility from the United Empire. I applaud President Blackridge for taking the safety and security of all of Sondria’s citizens into her hands and showing a firm commitment to maritime security, something for which I have advocated for decades. Plainly put, the inability of the United Empire to police its own waters and instead allow terrorists, smugglers, and pirates pollute Sondrian waters indicates a breakdown of the security forces of the United Empire. Likewise, the misplaced insults and desperate rants of its leaders are behaviors I expect from teenage children, not the leaders of sovereign states. If the United Empire is unable to provide security or effective leadership, the Imperial Federation would gladly accept that burden.”

Cranico’s remarks were met with adoring cheers from the assembled military personnel and civilian leadership who had come to watch the address. Shortly following, the Executive Office of the President released a public statement warning that any further provocations by the United Empire would lead to the closure of the straits between Beblis and Vrontor to United Empire military traffic. Western Command would also be mobilized and 239th, 240th, and 441st Combat Fleets would be deployed to the Melegean Channel alongside Triad forces to strengthen security assets there. This is part of a continued effort by the Crontorian Armed Forces to strengthen maritime security across Sondria’s waters. In recent months, the CAF has carried out joint naval exercises with the Sovereign Empire of Gristol-Serkonos and the Ngati Onekawa Nukanoa during Operation Allied Resolve, with the Orthodox Federation of Eagleland in Operation Spartan Fury, and with the Confederation of New Samarinda in Operation Orange Shark.

Operations in Telraina have brought with them concerns about breaking the so called Telrainan Doctrine declared by the United Empire. When asked by the CBC during a recent press conference, Supreme Commander Crogden shrugged off the Telrainan Doctrine as declaration as “flimsy as the paper it was printed on”. The main concern of the Crontorian Armed Forces, he said, was “the genocidal and outwardly anti-democratic nation of Aquilinia, which following the coup, has carried out acts of mass repression towards its people.” Northern Command has mobilized twenty-five Field Armies to the border with Aquilinia to ensure that the threat remains contained.

Lord High Chancellor Calroni is concerned
with the rise of militaristic actions in Sondria and
urges nations to come up with a peaceful solution.

Speaking at the provisional government headquarters in Pietarsaari, Lord High Chancellor Petro Calroni expressed his concern in the decision made by the Old World Governments. Lord High Chancellor Calroni and the incumbent Progressive Conservatives questioned if the reasons the Erjunhite government claim the territorial waters were legitimate. It should also be noted that the Sovereign Empire of Gristol-Serkonos and the Elder Republic of Erjunhuf had a cool but amicable relations since their involvement to support republican elements during the Red Revolution of 1920. Talking with the answering the questions from the press, Calroni replied:

"If history is a valid source, the Melegean Channel has always been an international waters. My second concern is their increased reports of piracy. According to Kevin Galatus, the head of the Union of Imperial Merchant Ships, our civilian merchant navy has never been attacked by pirates in the Melegean channel, in fact he was confident it was one of the safest waters in Sondria."

Calroni also said that the situation is regrettable, further saying that it would set a terrible precedence in the regional waters of Sondria.

"Kyra Blackridge and her government's decision to claim the entire Melegean Channel is a bad one. The Sovereign Empire will see this as a threat to regional security and can further destabilize the current state of relations between the United Empire and the Elder Republic."

Calroni also took the opportunity to fire a salvo of criticisms to the United Empire, as well as members of the Triad, a prominent intergovernmental military alliance in the Old World region of Sondria. He also condemned the Crontorian, Marquesan, and United Empire governments for their blatant acts of aggression. Calroni took aim at the Marquesan government, condemning the actions by their military by feeding the flame through their involvement. The Crontorian government were not immune to his criticisms, criticizing their recent moves to claim the Ocronian Sea as brash and irresponsible. He also stated the current crisis between the Triad and the United Empire detracts from their original purpose of promoting regional security and peace. Calroni also urged nations across Sondria to remain neutral. He further stressed that should the potential conflict reach Telraina, the Empire will resort to measures that will dissatisfy both the Imperial Federation and the United Empire.

At the end of his speech, he stressed that diplomatic negotiations must continue in order to resolve the crisis.

"To be honest, I find it laughable that these Old Worlders go around Sondria, preaching about cooperative regional security and stability while at the same time they can't get their act together. Therefore I ask the leaders of these nations to come up with a diplomatic solution to this problem. I urge you all to reach a peaceful resolution and hope that peace and stability, the two things these Old Worlders preach about, prevail."

The sudden turnaround by the Lord High Chancellor surprised the members across the political spectrum. The move distance itself from Old World nations followed the recent Operation Allied Resolve in which the Sovereign Empire performed naval maneuvers with the Imperial Federation of Crontor and Ngati Onekawa-Nukanoa in the Pakanga Ocean. He further stressed that despite the Rieshistagi's recent agreements with the Imperial Federation of Crontor to deploy troops in Luminaa, the Empire will not "involve itself with matter between Old Worlders."

An official from the Lord High Chancellor's Office has stated that the pro-Old World doctrine put forth by the Calroni government in 2012 is now facing opposition even from his political allies given the state of relations in Sondria. The official added that the Rieshistagi has been mounting pressure on Calroni to reconsider the Doctrine and focus on continental supremacy. He also said that the Diarchs are being asked for a new elections, as the current coalition government has appeared to have gridlocked between the recent terrorist attacks in Rien-Stadt, the growing crisis in Vâlcea, and the current events in the region.

In a rare act of solidarity to her political foe, Opposition Leader Dani Stone supported the government's attempts to distance itself from Old World affairs. Since the Progressive Conservatives gained a majority in the 1950's, they have focused mostly towards establishing regional relations first then international relations second. The mostly left-leaning Opposition parties favoured distancing itself from prominent Sondrian nations while maintaining cordial relations in order to focus on building cooperative continental relations with native nations in Telraina and with a bigger focus on global trading. The Crossbencher parties continue to remain neutral in the matter.

VILLA QUIRINA, QUIRINALIA - It was the Curule President himself, Amadeo Ranza, who, not just lay claim over the aquatic realm, but declared it in a national television broadcast that all of Vicin Bay, the northern sea portion of Aerus, just few miles south of North Quirinese Sea, the body of water exclusively claimed and protected by the Armed Force.

"It was a necessary measure after a series of dialogues with the civilian populace of Aerus and political background of the continent that Aerus needs a leadership capable of bringing up the herald of Aerus in Sondria, but not to the offensive extent, unike the dogs who are fed of war and death." This was the striking statement of Ranza after announcing in the broadcast as his people were clueless of what is happening. "As a bold move", he added, "Vicin Bay is in our blanket of power, protection and privilege. We had determined that the safest waters in the continent are in Vicin Bay, and the partnership of the Armed Force and other concerned government agencies had been clear in the intent to show that the waters are Quirinese."

He mentioned of rumors spreading around the region and in the country whether Quirina will conduct its nuclear missile tests. Ranza just mentioned the words, "Viktorika knows what to do, and the Presidium of the Federal Socialist Republics are certainly abiding the necessary laws that will, if they will, permit them to conduct nuclear test programs."

Our great leader Ditor-Sōto Jācī Lāzīn has died during an failed TSA operation to release him from the chains of his illegal imprisonment by Afalian authorities. Their reasoning being that the was involved in leading the Shōgun's illegal invasion of Afalia . Such beliefs were unfounded however the trial informed his truthful evidence but was trapped in a police station which was later attacked by unknown "vigilantes" (who had ASA written on their backs) and destroyed much of the police station were he was being held. While badly injured by the vigilantes; Jācī persevered with the trial but was moved to another prison complex as the trial was suspended. Later the TSA Shinobi disguised as normal civilians assaulted the facility and managed to break the Ditor out of his holding cell but not without him taking a single hollow point round to his leg. Then they left and headed to a farm outside of Blackdon where they had hidden Type-17 ground attack craft which was converted to a high speed civilian tiltrotor and a type-11 light utility transport for the Shinobi. The Type-11 was easily shot down by Afalian airforce however using his skill in fight and clever usage of flares, Lāzīn managed to reach the coast line and was near the Type-88 ACV but was shot down by a missile, casting him and his co-pilot into the ocean were their corpses now rest. The Type-88 quickly fled the scene and managed to slip away from Afalian waters with ease.

After little progress was made by the Afalian authorities and after the wreckage of both aircraft was recovered, Lāzīn was declared KIA and this was confirmed by the TSA Shinobi core soon afterwards. It was believed that Lāzīn's body was completely destoryed by the missile impacting the craft and his blood was found on throughout what remained of the cockpit. With Lāzīn's death, the Enclave has declared a week of mourning for him and his brother Warrant Officer Sān-Ēli Sai Lāzīn has returned from Afalia to be present at his funeral. There are also his consort Chief Administraitor Máchiko Lāzīn, his son and heir Lord-Master Húláng Lāzīn and his extended family. The streets were filled with those greatly saddened over the loss of their leader but was Jācī's rule like after he has now passed?

Born as a son of Lóng Míngzhì Lǐngdǎo zhě Lāzīn he was raised in the quickly modernising city of Ōato as a normal child in the States education system. One of his first actions upon ascending to power was to reform the failing welfare system which failed to deal with the poverty of the cities and the workers of the villages. The largest battle of the war was over the city of Neo-Kēng which Ditor Jācī observed. The KNRF commander was threatening to kill the entire city with a 1 megaton nuclear weapon. The TAF in turn detonated a small HEMP greatly crippling enemy communications and the KNRF's ability to give the order to detonate the nuclear device. The device was located in the Gun-Kegnar temple which later stormed by TAF troops. However it turns out the place was filled with incendiary bombs and Titianician civilians. The result was a vicious slaughter of innocent people and the destruction of the Gun-Kegnar. Dai Liyasto latter was captured after the KNRF forces were captured and summarily executed after a trial. Dai Liyasto was sentenced to solitary confinement in the arctic exclusion zone.

Soon afterwards the Neo-Kēng exclusion zone was declared as well as Project Eden. The region was declared a regeneration zone for corporate contractors to directly develop a long side the the state. Aleniako, Tiami- The Federal Justicia- Crontorian arrogance strikes again as the IFC declared sovereignty over the Ocronian sea, which sits between mainland Crontor and Beblis. The UE government released an official statement earlier this evening: "The act of claiming sovereignty over a body of water, while immoral and wrong, is something that happens with regularity. As the Ocronian sea plays no role in UE naval forces, the claim is being recognized, but nevertheless, said claim is in disgust. As the IFC has readily done to the UE, a formal condemnation has been issued towards the Imperial Federation."

Adriana commented on the Erjunhite proposal shortly afterward where she displayed herself as noticeably calmer and more collected:

"My outburst just recently was inappropriate. As a leader and person, I'll continue to rectify the issue with 'getting caught in the moment'. To Kyra, I do apologize and would love to welcome one another on the SRC or in another location to discuss and hopefully end tensions between our two states. It is time we end these hostilities and come together as Sondrians."

On the Crontorian threat to block the strait between Beblis and Vrontor, Adriana remained calm, calling the threat "Expected, but rational." Militarily, the strait pays homage to the transportation of few UE fleets annually, so the exact military cost would be low, but would still take a toll on UE naval movements. Countless citizens have taken to social media websites to express their distaste for the Crontorian response. Despite this, military and political leaders have retained their ideal of "Diplomacy before Guns," in an effort to trade words before any blood can be shed. It is rumored that the federal government will request a meeting to take place among Crontorian and Imperial officials… At lead when both sides are ready that is."

In other related news, the Shogunate announced it's deployment of "Sarissas" to the Melegean Channel to oversee its protection and to keep a watchful eye on naval movements of the United Empire. Vice Admiral Hector Peaches, commander of the UNS Calypso stated "… the naval assets of the UE are respecting the claim of the Erjunhite government… for now while we await negotiations to commence and subsequently conclude with favorable results. First Line Island, Quirina- A historic summit today saw Minister of State Alan Suderity and Quirinan President Amadeo Ranza sit down at First Line Island, a Quirinan military base in Vicin Bay, to discuss matters concerning both nations. A recent war of words concerning disputed maritime claims had broken out between the two nations, although this exchange has apparently calmed with today’s talks. Minister Suderity’s stop in Quirina is an unexpected side trip alongside his planned tour of Aerus. So far, Minister Suderity has met with leaders in both Iohann and New Samarinda, voicing Crontorian commitment to both nations as regional tensions rise.

Following Crontorian claims to the Ocronian Sea, the Great Republic of Quirina declared that the body of water known as Vicin Bay fell under its sovereign control. This caused concern in the Imperial Federation as it was feared that Quirinan claims could very easily threaten CAF movements and activites in the area, especially the CAF garrison at Fort Defiance in Deusaeuri. The CAF conducts regular drills in the bay alongside its Aerian allies, prompting immediate ire for the Quirinan declaration. In order to alleviate tensions, Minister of State Suderity sat down with President Amadeo Ranza on First Line Island for emergency talks. Although the talks were not open to the press, the two gave a joint press conference following the talks.

Minister of State Suderity appeared relaxed and confident, a good sign as regional tensions appear to be reaching a boiling point. Suderity stressed that, “The Imperial Federation respects the rights of the Great Republic to operate security assets and fortify its holdings in the Vicin Bay. We further recognize the claims of the Great Republic within its Exclusive Economic Zone, territory that the Imperial Federation formally recognizes as part of the formal borders of the Great Republic. The density of international claims in and around the bay make it difficult for any one nation to claim absolute dominance. This would be foolhardy, as all nations, Aerian and Sondrian alike, have a joint stake in the maritime security of this and all other bodies of water in the region.”

This positive sentiment was echoed by President Christian Cranico who was giving a guest lecture at the University of Vienna. When asked about the current crisis with the UE, Cranico stated that, “I am glad to hear that Adriana has formally apologized for her rhetoric regarding this crisis. These are tense times and unnecessary offensive banter is detrimental to the efforts of so many hardworking individuals striving for peace across this great region.”

“Adriana has seemingly matured in her response to the entire situation and I welcome this news as it makes my job as a diplomat far easier. Negotiations are only possible when rational actors are brought to the table and the Imperial Federation is happy to sit down with the United Empire providing that they take a rational and reasonable approach to the situation and continue to do so. I have worked far too long to keep peace in this region to see it fall apart now.”

Cranico was less than pleased about recent comments from the Sovereign Empire of Gristol-Serkonos, with whom the Imperial Federation had just attended trilateral defense talks alongside the Ngati Onekawa Nukanoa. Crontorians claims to the Ocronian Sea were lambasted as 'brash and irresponsible'. Cranico did not address these claims directly, instead imploring that although governments do not see eye to eye on every issue, they can still work cooperatively to address joint concerns. There was no word on whether or not this commentary would have any lasting affect on relations between the two nations or if it would address the continuing war games in the Pearl Sea.

VILLA QUIRINA, QUIRINALIA - Amid the rising tensions between different nations in the region, Sondria still pursues itself for peaceful settlements. The Curule President Amadeo Ranza had an unexpected but well-arranged meeting with Crontorian state Minister Alan Suderity in First Line Island following the exclusive claim of the Quirinese Magistracy over the Vicin Bay. Although brief, the meeting of the two political leaders marked a new diplomatic maneuver for Quirina to keep peace in the Bay.

Following the statement of Suderity, President Ranza spoke few of his words regarding the said issue solved. "The intentions of the Great Republic of harnessing Aerus as a peaceful place is now manifested in the agreement of the two nations, with our fellows from the Crontorian federation, and as the sole representative of the people of Quirina, we do now declare the Vicin Bay a crime-free, war-free area, thanks to the friendly gesture of the Imperial Federation. Such recognition of our rightful claim is a wonder every Quirinese and Aerian can celebrate."

Asking about his side on the Ocronian sea claim of Crontor, he mentioned that "it was legal and peaceful. After all, using force to acquire anything through such means is premature, illogical and what he called "spoiled" skimmed milk". With such remark, he added that "Crontor has all the right to claim the Ocronian if it will suit the welfare of the Sondrians' security, as same as the Quirinese securing the Vicin Bay from crime and war. The Triumphant Trumpet was also asked of Ranza's plans to sign agreements with Crontor, he said, "Maybe in the near future, but the necessary motions to develop good relations with a busy nation as Crontor can be possible. Well, not today, except the signed agreement earlier. We need to take precautions of course."

After the signing of agreement by the two leaders, Ranza was asked about his thoughts on the UE-Crontor feud after the talks. "My take on Adriana's actions are very simple: Once you knew how to clean your garden, you know what is your mess. You don't call yourself a gardener if you're just letting flowers grow and letting them die as well. It's better that she apologized for her quite big mistake as a leader". As he added, "Needless to say, Quirina condemns the irresponsibility of the United Empire in keeping good watch and measure over the Melegean Channel, which is something I can still laugh about." Germania, Brandenburg - The Reich Chancellery has announced three new ministerial appointments to the Reich Cabinet for the portfolios of armaments, health and the environment.

Gustav von Aigenhorst, member of the Party Branch in the State of Bavaria, is set to replace outgoing Reich Minister Siegwald Seggermann at the Reich Ministry for Weapons, Munitions and Armaments. His previous appointment was that of State Secretary to the Reich Armaments Ministry. Reich Minister Seggermann will retire from public service due to health concerns.

Farouq Khalid al-Shahrani, Party Secretary within the regional Party Branch in the Rhineland-Palatinate, replaces outgoing Reich Environment Minister Abdullah bin-Faisal as Reich Minister. His last appointment was that of Director of Water Studies within the Environment Ministry.

Ewald Schellmann, member of the Party Branch for the State of Thuringia, is to succeed his predecessor Joseph Schaub as Reich Minister of Health. He has previously held appointments such as Chairman of the National Cancer Centre, Vice-President of the Robert Koch Institute and Minister of State for National Development. Former Reich Health Minister Joseph Schaub will take up a new position as member of the Governing Board of the Reich Medical Council.

The move comes in the wake of the Reich Government's largest Cabinet reshuffle, involving the dissolution of the Reich Ministry of Agriculture and it's merging with the Reich Ministry of the Economy into a new, super-Ministry of the Economy and the merging of the Reich Aviation Ministry into the Reich Ministry of Transport. While most political commentators claim that the cabinet reshuffle is merely a routine one, others have pointed out that the relatively heavy portfolios of the three new Reich Ministers suggests that the Führer is seeking a more technocratic approach to the management of these three Reich Ministries.

Ngāti Onekawa-Nukanoa has a reputation across the region from being relatively 'hands off' when it comes to foreign relations. Generally due to a lack of will rather than the inability to do so, Ngāti Onekawa-Nukanoa has always viewed itself as watching from the outside looking in rather than being a part of ongoing affairs of the region. Although nothing concrete has ever been established, its always been considered that Ngāti Onekawa-Nukanoa was simply apathetic with the state of the region and would much rather watch everyone else argue than feel a need to join the conversation. However, a few recent events have shown a different sign to the usually quiet watcher.

The interactions between the United Empire and the Triad has seen Ngāti Onekawa-Nukanoa for the most part maintain a neutral, if friendly, balance amongst the two. The connections to both sides are strong enough that to align significantly with one over the other would leave Ngāti Onekawa-Nukanoa in an awkward position. As a result, there has apparently been some quiet nudging in the government to see what, it at all, can be done to help form the basis of a third, neutral bloc capable of keeping the Triad and Untied Empire from butchering each other. With the Aerian continent by itself, the smallest of the Sondrian landmasses, composing a third of the entire regional economy, such a power may be capable of holding enormous influence from a solely economic standpoint.

Despite this nudging, it is clear that Ngāti Onekawa-Nukanoa is taking a greater part in regional affairs from which is retracted from earlier on. Germania, Brandenburg - The first major round of military reforms, now under the official title of Project Condor, has led to the creation and establishment of a fully-fledged and standing German Expeditionary Force.

Speaking to journalists at an OKW press conference, Chief of Staff Colonel-General Ernst Hummels outlined the details and composition of the new Expeditionary Force as well as the intended objectives that such a measure intends to accomplish.

"Prior to our reforms, it was long-standing practice for the Armed Forces to raise and create Expeditionary Forces for deployment in overseas or mainland military campaigns and then to disband them once their original purposes had long been fulfilled. This practice, which was done on an ad hoc basis, breeds numerous military problems such as command confusion, logistical and supply issues and issues with the overall quality and cohesiveness of such formations, thereby causing numerous deficiencies and bottlenecks in the military system."

Keeping in mind of course the fighting capabilities and nature of our Armed Forces, and the international situation as it were, the High Command has structured the new German Expeditionary Force such that it would comprise mainly of mechanised, airborne and cavalry formations to ensure unit mobility and flexibility. Furthermore, independent air units are to be attached to this Expeditionary Force permanently for combat support purposes. That is to say, the German Expedtionary Force will have something akin to it's own air force."

"At the same time though, I wish to take this opportunity to reassure our foreign correspondents and foreign powers who may be closely monitoring our military reforms that this new initiative in no way whatsoever changes our official diplomatic stance of Armed Neutrality. The Reich remains neutral and independent of any conflict that foreign states might throw up, unless our own national interests are to be threatened, and shall continue to remain so."

The German Expeditionary Force, in accordance with Project Condor, is slated to incorporate the 18th Panzergrenadier (Mechanised Infantry) Division, the 20th Panzergrenadier Division, 5th Fallschirmjäger Division and the 3rd SS Cossack Cavalry Division. The High Command has also announced that Lieutenant-General Alexander Maaz, former divisional commander of the 3rd Fallschirmjäger Division, will assume the position of Commander of the Expeditionary Force.

The establishment of such a rapid reaction force appears to confirm the predictions of many defence commentators and analysts such as Dr. Klaus Geier from the Reich Institute of Policy Studies, who asserted that the reform "fulfills one primary desire of the Armed Forces to function not just as a conventional fighting force in the traditional sense but a flexbile, elite unit that is capable of intervening in times of crises and emergencies overseas."

Germania, Brandenburg - Military ties with Quirina remain sturdy as ever, declared Field Marshal Aldrik Bergmann, Chief of the Supreme Armed Forces High Command, in a ceremony where he received General Alexander Buchanan of the Quirinan Armed Force who traveled to the Reich to present his credentials as head of the Republikannischlegionnarisches Wermacht or the Republican Legions for the Wermacht, the foreign contingent of Quirinese troops stationed in the Reich.

At the ceremony, both commanders reviewed an honour-guard parade by the Grossdeutschland Guard Division and the Germania contingent of the Order Police, after which the two military officials were involved in a general meeting to discuss military matters between the Reich and the Republic of Quirina. During the discussion with his Quirinese counterpart, Field Marshal Bergmann stressed the importance of bilateral military cooperation between the Republic of Quirina and the Fascist Dictatorship of the Greater Aryan Race as a key component of their diplomatic relations. He also took the opportunity to express the Fuhrer's own thanks to the Republic of Quirina for permitting the stationing of two Panzer divisions in Quirina in exchange for the Reich's agreement to open two military bases for Republican Legions. Both the Wehrmacht and Armed Force are expected to continue their long-standing practice of combined troop exercises. During a subsequent press conference after the meeting was concluded, Field Marshal Bergmann continued to highlight that such a model of bilateral military cooperation would contribute to the maintenance of peace and security in Sondria while asnwering questions

"Mutual military partnerships, when conducted with the intentions of good faith, help reinforce confidence-building measures which are key in cementing good diplomatic relationships."

When pressed by local journalists about the stance of the Reich concerning the Vicin Bay, the Field Marshal reiterated the government's official position that all involved parties must engage in discussion and dialogue and refrain from unilateral actions. After further promptings, he also stated firmly that the Reich's policy of Armed Neutrality still applies.

"While taking into account military partnerships, our policy has and will remain that of Armed Neutrality. We have no intention of being involved in the Vicin Bay dispute and will continue to maintain our neutral posture. At the same time, the Quirinese military presence that we have permitted in the Reich is, I believe, purely a defensive force that is not to be used for other purposes."

The Imperial Federation Celebrates World Elephant Day

President Cranico and Lady Cranico were on hand at the World Elephant Day festivities near Alobordo National Park.

Alobordo, Crontor Administrative District- Billions of Crontorians enjoyed a day off from work today as the nation and the world celebrated World Elephant Day. Following Elephant Week on the CBC, the nation celebrated one of its oldest traditions, paying homage to one of the Imperial Federation’s most revered and admired animals. At Alobordo National Park, a massive wildlife reserve in Whinesew Province, President Cranico and Lady Cranico attended a daylong event celebrating the thousands of elephants who call the reserve home.

The Cranico’s flew into Alobordo a few days prior, attending talks with Triad delegates at the organization headquarters in Alobordo. One of the topics highlighted during the talks were joint efforts to combat climate change and how the Triad could use its regional influence to encourage clean energy initiatives and preservation efforts. Joined by Crontorian Minister of Environmental Protection Shane Sweeney and the Erjunhite Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Cranico’s proceeded to take a tour of the park. Guided by Federal Park Administration Rangers, the Cranico’s were shown grazing herds of antelopes, giraffes, and the reason for their visit, herds of Crontorian Elephants.

Allowed out of the trucks while protected by a security detail, the President and Lady Cranico were allowed to mingle with the elephants and observe them up close. President Cranico was even able to meet a newborn elephant that had been tagged and named for the President. Although the hunting and killing of most wildlife in the Imperial Federation is illegal, there have been a few recent incidents of elephants killed for their ivory in the Imperial Federation. It is suspected that the killings are part of a growing trade for ivory in the Marquesan Shogunate and the free flowing borders among the nations of the Triad have allowed hunters to sneak across the border.

Wrapping up the day with a World Elephant Day Ball, President and Lady Cranico spoke to great lengths about the need to protect our environment. Each stressed the natural beauty of the Imperial Federation and as Sondria’s largest nation in terms of size, had the most responsibility when it came to caring for Sondria’s environment. “A nation so blessed with natural beauty should not take it for granted,” stressed Lady Cranico, “we must cherish our air, water, and soil to leave it pristine for generations of Crontorians and Sondrians to come.”

VILLA QUIRINA, QUIRINALIA - The Minister of Technological Developments announced to the public the government defense project aimed to create a defensive network aimed to protect the Quirinese airspace and land territories all over the world, including Sondrian mainland.

Pirates have highjacked Eaglelander Capesize Crude Oil Tanker within the Melegean Channel, one nautical mile from the EEZ of the United Empire."

Limani Themistokleous, New South Attica — The Union of Eaglelander Shipowners (Ένωση Αετοχώριων Εφοπλιστών - EAE), in an emergency session today, have announced that the Aquilinian and, consequently, the Unified Empire Governments have failed to address the piracy issue in the Melegean Channel, as earlier today another ship was hijacked by Pirates, bringing the number of hijackings/illicit takeovers of ships to 38.

The ship in question, ENS Maria Narcissa, a Capesize (128,901 DWT) Crude Oil Tanker was transporting oil from the Lonsulae Islands in Deusaeuri to Limani Themistokleous, New South Attica. It was returning to the Eagleland when yesterday, August the 15th, the ship reported that it had been boarded by 57 heavily armed pirates. Owned by shipowner Michalis Crezos, the Maria Narcissa's takeover will cost more than 50,000,000 Drachmas in claims and lawsuits.

The Melegean Channel has been characterised as a Level 2 maritime area by the Ministry of Merchant Marine; although not dangerous enough to deter shipping, it is of concern to authorities as neither Erjunhuf nor the United Empire have managed to tackle the issue. However, on July the 23rd, the Melegean Channel was claimed by the Erjunhite Government as sovereign waters, in view of both the pirate issue and the deteriorating diplomatic relations between the UE and the Elder Republic. Both the Marquesan Shogunate and the Imperial Federation of Crontor supported these claims.

Similarly, the IFC proceeded with claiming the Orconian Sea as sovereign waters and condemned the United Empire, citing "incompetence and lack of civility from the United Empire", according to President Cranico, who also suggested an "inability of the United Empire to police its own waters and instead allow terrorists, smugglers, and pirates pollute Sondrian waters indicates a breakdown of the security forces of the United Empire."

Both claims were rejected and condemned by the UE Government.

The Federal Government have, earlier today, pledged support for the Erjunhite claims over the Melegean Sea, at the insistence of the EAE, as "the Erjunhite Government are the only ones capable enough to defend the channel from the plague of Piracy, as the United Empire has failed in that role", stated a press representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Similarly, the Crontorian claim has been recognised as it was seen as "a historic obligation of the Imperial Federation."

A rescue operation is underway for the liberation and recovery of the ENS Maria Narcissa.
