Kessler cascade can be simply defined as a massive, self-propagating destructive collisions between space objects within the vicinity of the Earth that indiscriminately involve everything and anything within its path. For Haishan that weathered a third cascade in a row in the worsening security of Eastern Greater Dienstad, what was once purely of theoretical construct proved to be a real event felt even beyond the reaches of Haishan as reported by other States and foreign medias. While the so-called orbital cascade was originally envisioned to have near infinite of chance to not occur, this assumption is flawed on the basis of the density of space objects orbiting the Earth is too low to achieve the condition.

It's indisputable that the rise of States in terms of living and wealth eventually prompted their views into space in order to unlock greater riches. From this simple statement, it can be correlated that the space above the Earth is infact is not empty or sparsely populated as one would traditionally believe given more and more States start to launch even more objects into space thus filling the voids with etcetera. One must also remember it's not only satellites are delivered to space, but also the rocket stages involved in the launch and since space above the Earth is naturally void of atmospheric particles, this meant the resultant space junk will incessantly orbit the Earth until they hit something or someone else.

Further correlation with rising wealth and technology development meant more States of the world would conduct routine space launches as reiterated earlier, increasing the chance of Kessler cascade to occur. This cannot be interpreted as a mere random fluke; the ratio of interested States in space that conduct space launches is way larger than States that would actually care on determining the long term impact of their space launches. It can be further correlated to Haishan recent, nearly miraculous repeat Kessler-level event sparked by a single attack from the Imperial States of Coltarin which as described by Haizer Aerospace Defense Contingent to involve approximately three to six anti satellite weapons.

This unfortunate cascade saw around four Haize dead when a space debris generated by the event directly impacted a Haize apartment several months ago and caused a HPVA space nuclear reactor experiment to go awry. These cascades can be construed as a potential region-wide event that will eventually affect all of Dienstadi States' space assets, causing even more damage to fragile and precious satellite systems while threatening to eliminate one of pillars that constitute a modern comfort in a highly globalized world. Due to the nature of the cascade and previous explanations, these have a huge potential to spread to other regions (as they orbit around the Earth) and likely to remain as a significant problem for a long time contrary to what most peoples would think of.

However for every cloud there is a silver lining; while the costs involved in the cascades are starting to run into billions, it have prompted the Advanced Space Development Directorate and other Haize space-related agencies to launch a massive study into more space-friendly space vehicles, which generate low or no space junk upon reaching their designated orbits. The cascade also serve to validate the preparedness of Haize Armed Forces since cascade represent one of the best practical zero hour, worst case scenario for the armed services to respond to.

It's also interesting to note that the cascade have also spurred the innovation spirit of Haize for the love of the State as exemplified by Vakolev Energy Institute latest revelations; understandably Haishan is at a state of wartime emergency thus further propelling the military industrial complexes to derive more solutions that may prove useful for the populace apart from blasting the opposition to smithereens. For example, development of free electron laser could result in better scanners used in the medical, food and industrial sectors given they need a compact and tunable light source. Better space awareness prompted by the cascade on other hand could induce further development of Haize electronics to take paths never thought of before, such as better monitoring equipments for Haize nuclear reactors.

Simply put, while the known and unknown enemies of Haishan may rejoice on bringing their oppressive war over Haishan, they actually helped to further induce innovation in Haize society to weather the incoming storm. Some may be worried that this can lead to escalation of armament race although the Junta reasoned this arms race is natural for any States of the world to the matter and the oppressors and aggressors only helped to further speed up such developments into what can be seen as frightening speed of weaponry developments.

This step is not only optional but a necessity for Haishan that have been grieved by unreasonable foreign politicians that think it's a good idea to start war with one of the region leading innovation engine. Some may argue such expensive step is unneeded considering the economic damage brought by recent cascades but the Junta need to keep the capital flowing in order to not stagnate the Haize economy. It's also to be rectified that increasingly deadly Haize weaponry can serve a powerful deterrent of sorts against further foreign military actions such as initiating yet another Kessler cascade.

Unfortunately this argument have yet to prove its worth as indicated by HIRSr intelligence report where the People United Federation might be conspiring with the Protectorate and Imperial States to specifically target and grief Haishan in their apparent attempt to silence the region's innovation engine and to satisfy their own vitriolic conscience on maintaining regional hegemony, opposing whoever that shakes up their reign of power.

It's to be noted that such monopoly could lead to death of innovation as the foreign forces refuse to move outside of their comfort zones, believing into orthodox ideals while Haishan is already on the fast lane. Thus by summing all of relevant points, the recent cascades could be described as complex issues that should be approached carefully but what would be most evident would be foreign powers attempt to weaken Haishan in order to force their own twisted and conceited ideals over ordinary Haize.

Annexation of Castleclose Begins

The former United Coalition of Castleclose, which underwent a massive state collapse in recent months, was declared part of the Castillian National Socialist State's territories, following the 22nd Grand Assembly of the First National Conclave, in which the State's highest officials passed Proposal 1-437 unanimously. The State's Laws and Customs now extend into the former Closian state.

It didn't take long for military forces to mobilize. Within hours, entire armies moved rapidly across the border, with our correspondents reporting hundreds of helicopter squadrons flying overhead all day long. Troops from the United World Order, a fellow National Socialist government, were also identified, with the Order providing friendly assistance to the Castillian National Army and military intelligence.

We were given the pleasure of interviewing General Henry Arthur, who said "Overall, morale is high, and we're prepared for anything that comes our way. We're expecting insurgency, but we can root out swiftly, and I'm sure that the State Security spooks will make sure it doesn't reappear."

Chancellor Vaughn released a statement to the international community of the State's intents and actions. "We have no other choice but to pursue active military operations to the north in order to protect both national interests and foreign peoples whose lives are increasingly endangered day by day. We cannot have anarchy so close to home."

A Malgravean news program interviewed a Kouralian general, who was asked questions about the State's annexation of Castleclose. While she faintly hinted at possible military intervention by Malgrave and Kouralia, the Ministry of State Security disregarded it, quoted saying "It's very unlikely that other nations would actively pursue military actions against the State, due to the massive regional conflict between Stevid and its allies and Imbrinium."

The Chancellery released an open letter directed at the Kingdom of Imbrinium regarding its anti-satellite missile attacks last month, which can be read here.

General reactions from the Closian people have been mixed. Some are grateful for Castillian peacekeepers to arrive and restore order, while others resent the actions of the State or are wary of the State's new policies.

So far, no casualties have been reported from the front. Military advisers are currently rearming and training Closian police recruits in occupied zones. Meanwhile, Castillian and Ordernite leaders are currently debating on how to tackle the 'powerful fiefdoms' rogue Closian police and military units, as well as convicts, have formed further to the north.

CCA Condemns Mokastana

CCA - The Commonwealth Colonial Authority has formally issued a statement publicly condemning the People's Unified Federation of Mokastana over its attack on Haize satellites.

After a series of meetings called in the wake of the incident Sir Douglas Campbell, Secretary-General of the CCA Secretariat, gave a statement in a press conference today that stated the CCA's position on the whole affair. "The CCA wishes to be clear that the Unified Federation acted alone, without the prior knowledge nor consent of the CCA. What's done is done and cannot be undone, so to this end the CCA will continue to devote resources and funding to help with the clean-up of the Kessler Cascade that is currently plaguing Earth's orbit above Greater Dienstad and poses a serious hazard to vessel transiting that part of space."

When pressed for more information by journalists the Secretary-General stated that the CCA was discussing behind closed doors the prospect of levelling sanctions against the Unified Federation, though refused to say anything more on the matter other than the CCA being 'very unhappy' with the Unified Federation.

Royal Space Force Calls-up Reservists,
Invokes 'Reserve Forces Act'

CCA - The Royal Space Force has begun calling-up hundreds of reservists as it contributes a great deal of resources to cleaning up the Kessler Cascade that is currently posing a serious hazard to shipping in orbit over Greater Dienstad.

More noteworthy is that the 'Reserve Forces Act' has been invoked for the first time in the CCA's history, effectively allowing the RSF to commender ex-CCA vessels that crosses into Earth's orbit. Already a number of lawsuits have been filed in the Commercial Courts of both Morrdh and New Garrack challenging the Act being invoked, something that is expected to take months to resolve.

Aero-engines are the hearts and cores of all modern flight applications for both side of the spectrum; from Haize bombers delivering strike munitions from standoff distances to ordinary Haize airliners that effectively and safely delivers civilian passengers to their destinations respectively, both have a common line that connects it all. Without advanced aero-engines, these applications would be hard to accomplish if not downright impossible. Earmarking Haize rapid progress in all forms of useful technologies, HPVA have disclosed that it's pushing a new breed of engines into service in order to retain Haize technological advantage against adversaries.

Aptly named as Variable Cycle Engine or simply known as Adaptive Engines, these new aero-engines combines the best of turbofan and turbojets where turbofans are good for cruising but bad for rapid thrusts while turbojets are the exact opposite of turbofans. Previous Haize exploration of adaptive engines were found unsuccessful due to sheer complexity and weights involved but with the advent of Haize revolutionary vectronics and new age nano-engineered materials, the engine class quickly shot into the limelight. As adaptive engines, are adaptive (pun intended), it's possible to vary their operating cycle on the fly such as increasing or decreasing the bypass flow to modify how the engine react to the incoming air stream.

It's common knowledge that during takeoffs aircrafts need majority of their engine power rapidly in order to quickly get airborne and let other aircraft to use the launch vector used. For cruising however, aircraft need the lowest amount of fuel consumption available to cover considerable ranges apt with the carried fuel. This conflicting set of requirements impose a few decades of compromise to Haize aero-engines that can only take normalized operating regimes to the said requirements. Advent of military low-bypass turbofans seek to push this compromise lower but still with the accompanying compromise and the solution doesn't fit with Haize regional airliners that seek to reduce fuel consumptions of their aircrafts.

This is where variable cycle engines chime in; while initially complex, the usage of all digital engine control system allow the engine to adapt to all of the listed operating requirements thus lowering aircraft lag time and actually reduces fuel consumption overall with a single package. For takeoff or evasive maneuver conditions that require maximum thrust, the engine could close all of its bypasses, turning it into a turbojet while for efficient cruising operations, both bypasses can be opened in order to reduce fuel consumption. The second bypass have extended benefits as well given it can provide additional air to cool the exhaust of the engine and/or provide extra air to the core of the engine for more efficient fuel burn thus lowering harmful emissions.

Haishan, obviously being the forefront of technology innovation of Greater Dienstad as claimed by most Haize analysts is the first State in the region to gradually push such adaptive engines to all relevant services. One of notable first users of Haize adaptive engines would be the MU-5LH Tenzie supermaneuverable jet fighter which both grant unparalleled propulsive efficiency and apparently generate enough power for its alleged onboard high power microwave weapon. HPVA on the other hand revealed Haize top tier aircraft and subsequently other relevant Haize air assets will get updated adaptive engines that are approximately twice as effective from their previous incarnations.

One interesting tidbit is HPVA claim on merging superconducting generator technology to the said engines which megawatt class of power would prove useful to Haize air frames, particularly directed energy weapon applications as clearly indicated by Vakolev Energy Institute latest work to put a working Free Electron Laser on a strategic aircraft. From these dissertations, it could be confidently stated that Haize aircraft would be one of the best aircraft in the region in terms of propulsion and coupled to recent material advances sourced from Gaokyvl Advanced Materials Center such as their newly touted nano-engineered explosives translates into a formidable Haize air force with bang to boot. It's also projected that other States will be racing to create similar engines as Haize ones but considering the technological gap, Haishan is expected to experience the advantage for a while.

SOLZOT - Ivezya-Progress, one of Haize premier turbomachineries and aero-engines manufacturers have recently revealed a hydrogen-burning Variable Cycle Engine (VCE) as part of Haize Aerospace Propulsion Laboratory (HAPL)-backed quarterly progress report on new development of Haize propulsion technologies. Highlighting it as a new era in Haize aviation history, CEO of Ivezya-Progress Shynai-Aratav explains, "In face of tighter environmental regulations and potential oil crisis we need a new energy source for our aero-engines. Hydrogen is abundant, can be accessed practically everywhere and give a good performance. So it's a no brainer that the next big thing would be hydrogen-fueled aero-engines."

While there is a documented Haize history that attempted to use hydrogen in an aero-engine as early as 1965, previous historic attempts were laced with numerous incidents and accidents that have barred its widespread usage. The first problem to the conundrum would be providing the necessary hydrogen economy to support the aviation sector. The CEO however remarked with the blessings of HAPL and Vakolev Energy Institute, Ivezya-Progress have solved the hydrogen production and storage issues that are synonymous as the first barrier to hydrogen-based fuel economy anywhere in the world today.

HAPL Main Director Utzea-Mayloch that is involved with the development of the new engine agreed, "Indeed, the main problem involved would be production and storage of hydrogen since it's a very finicky gas. With the help of Vakolev Energy Institute however, we and Ivezya-Progress have managed on solving the aforementioned problems. And it's all solid-state which should be a very big game changer for Haishan." Haize People Air Forces have reportedly shown considerable interest on the new development as it have just mandated the usage of VCE standard on current Haize combat air assets.

This could be explained by official HAPL-derived preliminary test figures on the Ivezya-Progress new hydrogen VCE; while ordinary VCE adopted by HPAF essentially grant 40% increase in fuel efficiencies compared to conventional engines, Ivezya-Progress new hydrogen VCE have experimentally pushed that number up to 70% which translates to roughly thrice in increase of performance for HPAF combat aircrafts while keeping inline with tighter environmental regulations being drafted by Haize Environment & Energy Ministry.

Haize civilian airlines are expected to benefit from Ivezya-Progress recent advancement as well; it's expected that current Haize regional carriers can save up to approximately 30% in operating costs once a civilian version of the company engines and relevant infrastructures are built to suit the needs of Haize airlines, further increasing their profitability in face of tough aviation sector of Greater Dienstad. It's also reported that Haize People Naval Forces have expressed high interest on Ivezya-Progress recent work on whether it could be transferred to the armed service's coastal vessels considering the vulnerability of current fossil fuel economy.

Manned Europa Mission Underway

Today marks the start of a grand voyage, an endeavour the region hasn't seen since the Morridane colonists left for the first time to visit distant stars. The Holy Empire of Stevid, having recently made headlines as one of the first nations outside the Commonwealth Colonial Authority to successfully carry out a manned Lunar mission, is now making it's greatest step yet with a manned mission to the Jovian Moon Europa.

The mission, controlled by the SSA, has been dubbed Snow Queen in reference to the hostile and frozen conditions of the planet. Mission fast overtook a manned mission to Mars with the partnership of the SSA and Holy Empire with the Morridane CCA as a 1st Tier member, with the additional insight into flight technique, advancements in Void Medical Science and long duration space travel. Mars was always the first objective after the moon but due to the scientific and technical input from CCA scientists, the bolder plan of a mission to Europa was pipped to launch first. It has also allowed the SSA to ditch to humble Vienna 1 rocket and capsules, along with subsequent designs, and unveil the latest rocket and manned space delivery system from Stevid. The Vienna 4.

The launch took place at 0001 hrs Mon 7 Jul from the Terra Statio Space Port, Adaptus Astrates, with Stevidian, Morridane and Astratii observers controlling the take-off and subsequent orbit. The mission crew were careful selected from the previous program to Lunar and also entrants from the Royal Air Force. Previous Lunar astronaut commander and the first Stevidian to walk on Lunar, Sqn Ldr Scott T. (ASBO) Harris, is once again the mission leader and will be accompanied by his 2i/c and fellow Lunar astronaut James Cunrow. The other mission crew members are Flt Lt Dean McKissock, Flt Lt Henry Altross, Flt Lt Jane Plutarch, and mission specialist and Europa expert Miss Ilithyia Summer-tine.

A manned mission to Mars was well within Stevidian capabilities with currently known science but the long duration of travel that was associate any manned mission to the Jovian System was problematic. The SSA turned to the Morridane cousins and counterparts in the CCA for advice on the construction of the Vienna 4. From a deep space travelling rocket with the same environmental suites as Vienna 1, evolved into a completely new design. The hull remained the same but the environmental controls were completely overhauled. This overhaul included many thousands of improvements but those of significant note was a more efficient C02->O2 replenishment system that was so efficient it almost removed the necessity for a hydroponics section altogether; an internal centrifuge for artificial gravity; and greatly improved engine efficiency when in space, allowing more space to be taken up for laboratories and recreational rooms instead of fuel.

A lot of the remaining technology remains Stevidian as the Empire tries to remain away from complete integration with the CCA to try and promote its own industrial growth in the space sector without having to rely on foreign companies too much. The solar power collectors and information distribution system (together with the internal wiring) is all Stevidian.

The mission has got underway without a hitch so far and the flight time between Terra and Europa is expected to last no more than 7

months thanks to CCA input into the engine design and flight plans. Vienna 4 for orbit the Earth at 700,000km at close to its maximum speed before leaving orbit and will remain there for three days before exciting a precision transfer impulse to send the Vienna 4 rocket and module towards Jupiter. Approximately 4 months later the vessel will execute a minor trajectory correction burn to unsure a positive encounter with Jupiter. Depending on the outcome of the correctional burn, the rest of the journey could last 2 months or a further 6 months. Morridane CCA attachés to the SSA are confident on bringing journey times down further should the worst occur with several minor burns after the first correctional burn.

Once the Vienna 4 is guaranteed a Jovian System encounter the crew will begin to prep the science laboratories and associated electrical equipment that will have been "asleep" for the first half of the journey. Once these systems are active, test experiments will be conducted to ensure the equipment is working correctly. As soon as Vienna is captured by the gravity well of Jupiter, an orbital burn will commence to change the trajectory of Vienna 4 completely to allow the craft to enter an extremely high orbit (tens of thousands of kilometres, so the vessel's onboard computers to track its position in relation to what is happening outside of it. Once Europa has been identified the vessel will again make a burn to encounter Europa before finally settling in orbit around the ice moon.

Because of the distinct lack of fuel and strange mechanics of the Jovian System and how it relates to the rest of the Solar System, the mission can not just 'leave' and return home. These brave astronauts will be spending nearly 3 months on the surface before a transfer to Earth becomes a viable target again. This is because even through the orbit period of Europa is a little over 3 days, Vienna 4 will require a major transfer from Jupiter in order to escape its gravity and will require a Hohmann transfer around not just Jupiter, but Europa too and Callisto in order to reach a velocity sufficient enough to get Vienna 4 out of Jupiter orbit. Following a mid-way course correction, the vessel will be almost out of fuel so a remote supply rocket will be sent up to meet the vessel half-way and allow the ship to refuel and take on much needed provisions.

"My fellow citizens, allies, and nations, less than a month ago, there was an attempted coup that put our President in the hospital, and took the life of numerous soldiers and civilians. Only when Mejican Army units were deployed did we finally have some peace, knowing that the Nation was protected against the forces that tried to topple our government. Initially it was believed that the Cartels had attempted to stage a coup and were investigated, however the truth was, far more sinister.

Agents found evidence linking Generalissimo Canarias' coup attempt to Haize agents acting on behalf of the Techno-Induscracy of Haishan. At the same time, intelligence reports showed Haize forces building up on our border, their military raising levels to full alert and numerous aircraft patrolling the seas, possibly laying mines or tracking our ships. Not only did the attempted coup point to a hostile action by a foreign government against our own interests, but high ranking military leaders were forces to assume that the mobilization of the Haize war machine could only mean one thing.

The Haize coup attempt had failed, and they were preparing for another option to remove us.

As such, a secret vote was held in Parliament last night, and it was decided that Mokastana will go to war with Haishan and claim the ability to strike first and hard before the Haize do. It is with a heavy heart I tell you that we are now fighting a war so close to home, but it is one that must be done. Earlier this morning I met with my various leaders of the Federation and mobilization orders will be going out for all Reserve Forces, every weapon available we have, we will need to be available in this war.

Earlier this morning Naval and Army missile strikes began against the Haize nation, striking key targets inland and at sea. I do not know the extent of the attack but it is one we will continue until peace becomes an option.

To our allies and fellow nations, I am thankful for your help in our time of need and request any support you can give. The Lyrans had already deployed to Mokastana to help quell the Cartels but are now being redirected towards the Haize border to launch a counter invasion by the side of Mokan troops. To our allies in the Fegosian Union, I request you cut off relations with the Haize government, to our local allies, I ask your help in reducing this threat to the Noth East.

May God guide us in our time of need.

RMAF Forms Sparrowhawk Force

RMAF - A spokesperson for the Royal Morridane Air Force has confirmed that the RMAF is adding the Lyran Arms LY909 Sparrowhawk to its inventory.

Initially 36 aircraft have been ordered, 24 LY909A variants that'll enter RMAF service as the Sparrowhawk FGR1 and 12 LY909B two-seat trainers that'll be known as Sparrowhawk T1. The first Sparrowhawk unit will be stood up as No.257 Operational Conversion Unit at RMAF Ostford in the Free Republic of Lamoni, initially Lamonian Air Force instructors will be training up their RMAF counterparts to help them master the most advance aircraft the RMAF has ever had. Two former Sparrowhawk squadrons will be stood up at RMAF Ostford which will be the home of the Sparrowhawk Force for the foreseeable.

Darwin Disaster Ruled 'Genuine Accident'

CCA - An inquiry setup to find the cause of the disaster that befell the still incomplete Darwin class explorer two months ago has declared it to be a 'genuine accident'.

The inquiry's findings have put paid to the rumours of sabotage that have been circling since the disaster occurred, many believed that another space power may had been behind the accident but the inquiry stated that this simply wasn't the case. It has been determined that a electrical short circuit, quite possibly caused by a loose piece of metal, created a spark which then ignited one of the vessel's oxygen tanks. The resultant explosion and fire damaged a large part of the ship's infrastructure and that of the orbital shipyard where it was being constructed. It has also been finally revealed that the accident caused a number of fatalities, though the efforts of the Royal Space Force rescue teams was highly praised.

Since the accident all construction work has been suspended and at this time it is unclear as to when it can be expected that work will be resumed, indeed the future of the Darwin Project is currently in alot of doubt. There has been talk of scaling back the Darwin Project to just one vessel or even scrapping it entirely, though a RSF spokesperson was keen to point out that the RSF's other projects remain unaffected.

A secret treaty between the Free Republic, and The Second Empire?

While Lamonian and Macabeean troops exchanged fire in small skirmishes on the former island nation of Indras, secret negotiations were taking place between the two nations in the Macabeean territory of Theohuanacu. The outcome of these secret negotiations has resulted in the Treaty of Targu Iulia, which changes the dynamic of relations between the Free Repulbic, and the Second Empire.

Having recently been ratified by the Lamonian Legislature, the treaty is expected to take effect within the week. While any international treaty has formalized language intended to convey meaning in a very legalistic way, Lamoni Today has found out enough about the treaty to be able to give the following simplified breakdown of the treaty terms.

Treaty of Targu Iulia

1.) The Second Empire of the Golden Throne formally recognizes the Lamonian territory of Omega.
2.) The Free Republic of Lamoni formally recognizes the Macabee territory of Indras.
3.) The signatory governments agree to the establishment of a demilitarized zone extending 10km north and south of the Indras–Omega frontier.
4.) The signatory governments can, in the event of insurgency or other emergency, consensually agree to third party peacekeeper deployments to the demilitarized zone.

To date, both parties to the treaty will nominate one nation each to send a peacekeeping force of 4,500 troops to patrol the newly created Demilitarized Zone, thereby ensuring that both sides do not intrude into the territory of the other. In addition, the peacekeeping forces would be authorized to dispatch any insurgents that they might find within the DMZ. Lamoni Today has learned that the Free Republic has nominated the Novan nation of Alfegos to be their neutral peacekeeper. This makes sense due to previous friendly ties between Lamoni and Alfegos; in addition to the jungles of Alfegos making Fegosian troops ideal for patrolling the jungles of the DMZ between Omega and Macabeean Indras.

The treaty itself seems to be a fair exchange, aimed a preventing a war between two of the most powerful nations in Greater Dienstad, who already have relations via the Fedala Accords. The treaty makes no mention of foreign bases on Lamonian or Macabeean soil other than those needed for the peacekeepers, which leaves the Lamonian plan to allow friendly nations to establish military bases on Omega intact. Already, the Commonwealth of Morrdh has announced plans to establish a jungle training base on Omega, and it is expected that other invited friendly nations will follow suit, as soon as the invitations are made.

CCA Says 'Hyperspace Successfully Breeched'

CCA - A milestone has been reached in Project Sprinter, the CCA's research project in developing alternative form of FTL travel, it has been declared.

The project has initially been to prove the existence of a theorized dimension called 'Hyperspace', something that the CCA says has now been achieved after successfully receiving imagery from a probe that managed to make the trip and send back its data. Though currently the project is being held back by the limited window currently available due to the short duration that a portal can be kept open, once the portal is closed the probe is lost for good. It is hoped that a major breakthrough is achieved with Project Beacon, concurrent research into FTL communications, as it would be then possible to maintain contact with the probes after the portal closes.

Ultimately the CCA hopes that it'll be able to eventually retrieve the probes it sends though, once this stage has been reached it opens up the possibility of conducting manned missions.

Fegosian Reserves Mobilised
Emergency Session of Senate Called

There have been mixed reactions as the Fegosian President's Office ordered the mobilisation of the Reserves at 0800 this morning. Expected see over 140 000 reservists mobilised across the nation, the order was given in response to the deteriorating situation in Mokastana.

It is expected that the vast majority of reservists will be called to man regular operations across the Fegosian territories, including garrisons in Milkavich province, along the Neo'los/Hurgat border, and the other overseas assets of the People's Nation. However, it is alleged that up to 25 000 reservists may be deployed to Mokastana proper, badged under the Fegosian Union Rapid Reaction Force (FURRF), to act as stabilisation forces in the most troubled regions of the nation.

This morning, at transport stations across the nation, there were major delays as tens of thousands of uniformed reservists boarded special services to assembly points scattered around Alfegos. The mobilisation has come as a surprise, and shock, to many. However, with at least two weeks before the reserves are ready for deployment, there may be an overturning of the President's decision in the Emergency Senate session being convened today.

The shift of forces to Greater Dienstad comes with a change in Fegosian foreign policy, with a strengthening of key ties with nations such as Lamoni, alongside defence of allies such as Mokastana. Whilst ventures with nations such as Haishan have reaped bounties in trade and scientific collaberation, the playing of different sides along distinct regional schisms may have finally backfired on the Fegosian government. The current war between Mokastana and Haishan, started as a defensive conflict to continual Haishan provocations and destabilisation attempts, may see key ventures cancelled. However, as of 1100 this morning, the Haishan-Fegosian space co-operation programme, EXOHF, was running as normal, with Haishan workers turning up to work at the Ol'vi Cosmodrome, albeit with heightened security.

Fedor I Warns of ‘Consequences’ for Governments Which Continue to Attack Haize Space Assets

Imbrinium’s large-scale anti-satellite operation, involving several thousand missiles, indirectly damaged a large fraction of the public and private Macabee space fleets. The Golden Throne has already warned that it will be vigorously pursuing an anti-space war policy. Now, the Empire looms closer to directly defending Haishan from their eastern Díestadi nemeses.

The conflict revolving around the eastern Greater Díenstadi region of Istegium continues to intensify and the threat of a major space war grows. In an attempt to influence involved powers to restrict themselves to conventional warfare, Fedor I has warned that those governments which disturb the safety of the planet’s orbit risk being declared war upon by the western Díenstadi power. Targeted by the Macabee emperor were Mokastana, Imbrinium, and Coltarin in particular. His Imperial Majesty nevertheless reaffirms the Golden Throne’s continued neutrality in the ongoing dispute. He has also cautioned Haishan against escalating the space war themselves, promising a swift response should they choose to disobey the Macabee request.

Imbrinium’s anti-satellite attack managed to sufficiently vex the Imperial Government, prompting them to embark on a passionate and concentrated campaign against further military action in space. The total economic value destroyed by the attack is still unaccounted for, although the figure undoubtedly runs in the dozens of billions. While the Imbrinium government has already entered into negotiations with the Imperial Government over compensation for the damages, several businessmen in the Empire have expressed concerns over investing in orbital assets, given the unpredictable risk of war. To mitigate the uncertainty, Fedor is determined to ensure peace in space by using the Empire’s military muscle to intimidate others who would otherwise defy the appeal.

Haishan has represented the endeavor’s most unstable factor. Understandably provoked by Imbrinium’s attack, followed by further hostility by Mokastana, the Haize military has begun to mobilize its space assets in preparation for a full-scale, multi-dimensional war. The conflict has grown to involve Alfegos, which has also recently agreed to a 4,500 peacekeeper force on Omega. Fedor has clandestinely, and now overtly, attempted to persuade Haishan to limit their defense efforts to conventional theaters, but the patience of Haize leaders has begun to run thin. As a result, the Macabee emperor has been forced to start contacts with the other involved nations in an effort to calm all parties down and persuade them of the benefits of a neutral orbit.

As an immediate solution, until more concrete terms are fleshed out and a physical agreement is multilaterally approved, Fedor has declared his intent to defend space’s neutrality through the force of arms. For some time already there was an expectation that the Second Empire would enter the war if its assets in space were placed under threat. Now that intention is explicit and it has been leveled specifically at those nations currently at war over Istegium. Fedor is worried that further attacks on the Haize space fleet would prompt all-out warfare in the planet's orbit, an event which would significantly impact the Golden Throne economically. The rate of replenishment of the private space fleet has slowed down since Imbrinium's attack and investment expectations have plummeted in the relevant industries. A war could downright cripple that sector of the Macabee economy and no doubt send shocks throughout adjacent markets.

The Second Empire suffered from its first post-war economic depression during the early 2020s and it was finally able to lift itself out of the mire by the middle of the decade. Since then, the Macabee economy has become the fastest growing in Greater Díenstad and its gross domestic product has returned to being dominant in the region. To the Imperial Government, the health of the economy is extremely important because it allows Fedor to finance his foreign policy. Already, Zarbia, Monzarc, northern Indras, and parts of Holy Panooly have fallen prey to the Empire's ambitions, although these newly acquired territories have also allowed the Macabee economy to expand to new markets and extend its division of labor. A real shock to the economy now could put a wrench in Fedor's unfolding international plan and he has mobilized his diplomats to ensure that such an event doesn't take place.

To prove its intentions, the Golden Throne has been gradually increasing the pace of its general mobilization. By the end of the first phase, the Laerihans, Kriersmada, and Ejermacht will consist of a combined 450 million soldiers. Civilian training, a long-standing tradition in the Empire, has also increased in length and intensity to prepare the general population for the possibility of total war. In that event, the Fuermak — the armed forces — would swell to a standing army of over one billion personnel, which is just under five percent of the Empire's colossal population. The Golden Throne's revived militarism has prompted concern amongst some of its Díenstadi neighbors, bringing memories of the War of Golden Succession — the most destructive war in the region's history. Fitting that it be the main protagonist of that conflict that is once again embroiled in the middle of the regional destabilization.

In the provinces, the Upper and Lower Senates have almost unanimously supported Fedor's diplomatic objectives.
