Invasion Of Maer Mamwlad

Postby Maer mamwlad » Mon Jul 21, 2014 10:31 am

Following a coup led by Prince Caradoc the Third of Maer Mamwladian Royalty against his family, all of whom he executed, Maer Mamwlad was declared a Fascist Absolute Monarchy. Within a short amount of time, a united front was formed to invade Maer Mamwlad, led by Cedoria. The people of Maer Mamwlad are now ready to fight their invaders, with all male citizens age 12 to 50 being drafted into the military. It is now only a matter of time before Maer Mamwlad is invaded, and it is expected to be a bloody war.

As the enemy's front mobilizes, General Dikar Nesti, has arrived on the shore's of Maer Mamwlad to discuss topics of defense for it.

"Sir, we must setup the Missile Defense System that was brought immediately. And also, we must set up a "wall" of troops, artillery, and AA guns all around Maer Mamwlad's borders. And for all we know, there can be a spy lurking around, so we must set up regular security checks for your staff, including retina scans. Oh, and for the record, that Missile Defense System, also can be programed to fire at other aviator type targets, so if a hostile UAV, or any other military craft are in it's range, you have the ability to shoot it down." The General said to Maer Mamwlad's general.

Second missile Defense systems are that. Missile defense systems. Not AA systems. And missile defense systems are normally used against ICBM's.
third you want anti air capability you set up SAM sites.

Corrupt Dictatorship

Postby Cedoria » Mon Jul 21, 2014 11:53 pm

The People's Republic of Cedoria's Maer Mamwlad taskforce was being formed up for deployment to the distant country. Formed after the coup'd'etat of Caradoc, it is a joint land-air-sea taskforce from the People's Revolutionary Armed Forces, which is specifically tasked to liberate the people of Maer Mamwlad from it's Fascist tyranny. People's Revolutionary Army General Yuki Ausimo has been appointed as the head of Cedoria's taskforce. His job will be to command Cedoria's forces on the ground, and liase with taskforce commanders from other nations who have joined the United Front against Caradoc. General Ausimo has decided that Cedorian ground forces will be primarily flying into Maer Mamwlad by air, through transport aircraft and helicopters. Whilst they work on the ground, People's Navy will work to cut off Maer Mamwlad supplies from the sea, particularly any shipments coming from Caradoc's main international supporter, Fiery Armageddon, and to provide close naval support for the ground invasion. The People's Republic of Cedoria hopes to topple Caradoc's illegitimate regime as quickly as possible, with the support of our allies, to establish a democratic and representative government in Maer Mamwlad, with minimal loss of life or social disuption. Cedorian PRA troopers and vehicles are currently being loaded onto the large transport helicopters and aircraft now. People's Navy Class-1 Carrier Liberator is prepping to set sail, at the head of it's branch of the taskforce, for Maer Mamwlad's coastline.

Meanwhile, Cedoria has already taken steps to lay out the foundations for liberating Maer Mamwlad from it's corrupt, Fascistic regime.

Main Airport of Maer Mamwlad
People's Intelligence Agency operative Veld Dirkov, officially known as an "information facilitator" more correctly as a "spy" has just touched down upon the tarmac in Maer Mamwlad. This was the country which so recently had undergone a Fascistic transformation after the shockingly violent Coup'd'etat that brought their new evil monarch Caradoc III to power. Understandably, given this particular event, travel to Maer Mamwlad was quite slow, but his superiors in the Agency had worked out a convincing backstory. He was a political defector, originally from Cedoria, who had fled to escape the oppression of it's Communist regime, and was now a successful businessmen looking for a friendly "tax-haven" to hide his investments. Of course, his real reasoning for arriving in this backwards Third World hell-hole was that he had been instructed, along with six other agents, to investigate Maer Mamwlad, particularly, to ascertain the mood of the population, as well as any potential opposition that could be used to combat Caradoc's regime. He was certain that many groups in Maer Mamwlad opposed the illegal taking of power, but were simply controlled from expressing this by fear of the consequences. His job was to ascertaine the mood of the people, locate any potential resistance or opposition groups, make contact, gain their trust and work with them to bring down Caradoc from the inside, whilst his brave comrades in the PRA worked from the outside. Although there were six other agents doing similar things across the country, he did not know who they were, and was forbidden from establishing any contact and communication with them, to maintain operational security.

He was relieved when he was allowed through the airport security. Although understandably suspicious at first, his elaborate cover story, and knowledge of the local language, convinced them of the truth of his reasons for being here. He hailed a tax-cab, dropped down his luggage at his apartment, and strode down the stairs.
Well, time to get to work he thought excitedly.

Cedorian forces are on the move. Maer Mamwlad's Fascist Regime will soon be no more

(OOC: Yes Fiery Armageddon, the "wall of troops" about which you speak is physically impossible given troop numbers. If you want anti-air capability, you need SAM batteries. Missile Defence systems are used against ICBMs, and they can't target regular aircraft. Just edit these little bits and the post should be fine.)

Valaran Parliament building, Astaria, 2:30 PM

The debate had been going on for two days now, but the vote was drawing near, and closing speeches were to be heard.
Deputy opposition leader Johannes Absalom had the floor, and gave a short but passionate criticism of armed invasion:

"I will not allow our nation to be thrown into another war by a reckless government, that is heedless of the lives of our people!" He exclaimed with zeal, before continuing:

"We will be allying with Maoists and other dictatorships in this endeavor. If this was a truly righteous cause, then why aren't we also fighting them? I'll tell you why. It is because, this government's supposed 'morality', is a lie. They only use it as a facade to justify their battles. Well, I am no longer deceived by this lie. All this 'liberation' will achieve is bloodshed and a massively destructive war, and one which could have easily been averted if our leaders had merely accepted the repeated compromises offered by Caradoc. Yes they are unpalatable, but the alternative is far worse.

So I ask again, do we really want our solders, our people, to die on some far away land, for some worthless cause, championed by naive fools and corrupt dictators? I call upon the house to vote against this illegal warmongering that will ruin our nation." He sat down again, as shouts and voices filled the room with noise.

Prime Minister James Alstan stood quietly in response, and the heated discussions subsided. He was much more softly spoken than the fiery oratory of Johannes, yet his words had an undeniable force to them:

"I know many of you will want to heed the honorable member's words. It is true, this conflict may be bloody, and none of us can truly predict how long it will take to free Maer Mamwlad.

It is easy to say that this will only lead death and misery, both for our people and those of Maer Mamwlad. It is easy to say that that this intervention will achieve nothing. Easy, but wrong.

The actions of Caradoc, must be stopped, and his backers brought to heel. If we leave him in power, we would be allowing this evil to remain unchecked. By implication we would be condoning his actions, and the blood would be on our hands too. When would we let it be said that these 'dictatorships' were more willing to help a people than liberal democracies?

But we have another reason to intervene, rather than the of guilt: a duty to help others. This duty is not only to our own nation, but to all of humanity. What difference should it make, that any one of us sleeps safely at night, while citizens of other lands are beset by foes? We are bound by this common bond of brotherhood.

There is a famous quote by Edmund Burke often used to justify such actions: "All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing". It is so famous that it has been overused, and has lost its original purpose. Instead, I call upon a less famous quote, and one that is far more pertinent: "The true danger is when liberty is nibbled away, for expedients, and by parts." This is what will happen to the people of Maer Mamwlad if we abandon them now, in their hour of need. I will not abandon them."

General information:

Voting by the Parliament will be held later today, on the decision to join the liberation of Maer Mamwlad.
Meanwhile, Minor protests occurred outside the Parliament by anti-war groups, and press editorials were polarized on the developments. Polls show that 22% of citizens are opposed to any intervention, while 34% are in favor of the liberation. However, 42% (the largest group) are still unsure or divided over the issue.
While this occurs, military preparations also continue apace. Of the 90,000 active soldiers, roughly 10,000 are garrisoned around various colonies, and 30,000 mobilized for various other conflicts. This leaves a potential force of 50,000 to send, though it highly doubted by most commentators that all of these will be used. Instead, it is thought that around 2-3 divisions may be dispatched, if the invasions goes ahead.

Caradoc watched as infantry trained/practiced in the sport fields a block away from the Palace.
He chuckled. All these young men, most with families, about to die. At least they would die for a good cause though. He was suddenly approached by his secretary. "Your Majesty, the advisory council is ready" Caradoc sighed. "Ok. I will meet with them shortly."

A few minutes later.

Caradoc walked into the throne room. The the 12 members of the advisory council sat on the floor, waiting for him. He sat on the throne and asked for what the had to say. He then learned that the Cedorian soldiers were mobilized and on thier way, the Valaranian invasion was delayed due to political reasons, and that the General from Fiery Armageddon was suggesting setting up a missile Defence system on the coast. So this is what he said.

"Set up the missile Defence system here in New Cardiff, set up SAM and AA batteries on the coast, the MDS wouldn't help us there. Also, move police units from minor cities to the front line, we need all the help we can get."

"I'll tell my men immediately, sir." The General agreed as he was walking out to start building the defense.

First, they would started head for big cities, where they would muster troops into the convoy , and bring them to the front lines.
Second, they would mobilize troops around the border, heavily set on the coast, and then, they would set up SAM and AA nests along the coasts.
Lastly, they would start setting up the Missile Defense System.

Just as he was reading a map in the truck, General Dikar got a message on the radio. He then immediately contacted Caradoc.

"Sir, Fiery Armageddon is sending their last shipment of supplies for a while, due to us not wanting to spend to much in this war, the list includes:
500 Barrels of Oil
1,000 Small arms and Ammunition Crates
1 Squadron of Sukhoi PAK FA Fighter Jets
Half a Squadron (Or around 6) Northrop Grumman B-2 Spirit Bombers
1 Battalion of 9K22 Tunguska SAMs
1 Battalion of M142 HIMARS
And that appears to be it. Emperor Salazar wishes us the best of luck, and hopes this Fascist regime will rule."

Maer Mamwlad Capital
PIA operative Veld Dirkov had caught onto some interesting information. It was seemingly an open secret that the Fiery Armageddon government had sent military support to Caradoc's Fascistic regime. It did not appear to be huge amounts of direct military support, but supplies, military equipment and, even a general to provide military advice and training were flooding into Maer Mamwlad from FA, who were Caradoc's chief international backer. He had already transmitted this intelligence back to Communist Party HQ in Cedoria. There appeared to be a considerable amount of deferential fear shown towards Caradoc's troops, but there was also some small things, muttered glances and dark looks after departing soldiers, that convinced Veld that there was the potential for popular resistance against Caradoc, despite his tight authoritarian control of the security services. It was just a matter of time now.

International waters, People's Navy Maer Mamwlad taskforce
The Liberator carrier battlegroup is now well and truly on course towards the coastline of Maer Mamwlad. One of the first goals identified for the naval arm of the taskforce is to eliminate AA and SAM batteries which intelligence confirms has been placed on the shores of Maer Mamwlad's coastline, in order to clear the way for the airborne landing of ground troops in Maer Mamwlad from the sky. Of course, the frigates and battleships should be able to destroy these coastal defences with minimal difficulty, as they will not be able to fire back at the ship missiles. If aircraft are scrambled to attack them, the PAFC aircraft will be launched from the Liberator to protect them from attack and take out enemy airforce planes. Once the coastal defences are cleared, the ground portion of the liberation will begin in earnest. Again, The People's Republic of Cedoria calls upon the nations of the world to show a "united front" United against Fascism.

To: Valaran Prime Minister, James Alstan
From: Vallance Vallen, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Cedoria
Prime Minister, as you are well aware, the Cedorian People's Revolutionary Armed Forces Maer Mamwlad taskforce is currently en route to the country to begin conducting military operations against Caradoc III and his evil regime. As we understand it, you are facing some domestic political resistance to opposing Caradoc. We would urge you to hold your nerve, call an immediate Parliamentary vote and authorise a small force of ground troops to contribute to our joint goal, bringing about the downfall of Caradoc, establishing a popular democratic government, and ensuring that Caradoc and his chief lieutenants are charged with crimes against humanity for their appalling atrocities. We are certainly committed to ensuring this occurs, and the United Front was formed because we do not want to give ammunition to our critics, who believe that every intervention by Cedoria is an attempt to "export revolution" Your presence could help to rectify this incorrect perception of the nature of our interest and involvement in Maer Mamwlad. You promised your support to the United Front Prime Minister, and the window for time is rapidly closing, so time is of the essence.
We urge you not to postphone confronting this crucial issue, and have the courage to acknowledge our common goal in Maer Mamwlad in the interests of mutual humanity and international brotherhood.

Alstan, recognizing the urgency of the situation, had only delayed the vote by one day, due other crises on the horizon (namely in Valaran's region of Atlas).

Minor scuffles broke out in some of the larger cities between police and anti-war protesters, though actual violence was limited. The atmosphere on the eve of the vote was one of hushed anticipation; the Empire was entering a dangerous period.

The Vote

Out of the 856 electoral positions, the governing liberal-democratic party party holds 490 seats. Its allied, liberal party holds 52 seats. The opposition groups of the socialist party (100 seats), the conservative party (150 seats) and the greens (30 seats) hold most of the remaining seats, with the final 24 being split between minor parties. The socialists and Greens are strongly opposed to any intervention, while the governing party is the most stridently forces dispatching the troops. However, many of its members plan to rebel during the vote, and not follow the official party line. The liberals and conservatives are heavily divided.

The final tally stands as follows:
For: 502 (government party & some conservatives)
Against: 301 (mainly socialists & greens, and rebel government MPs)
Abstaining: 53 (liberals)

To, High King Caradoc,

I, on behalf on the Valaran people and their elected representative in Parliament, hereby declare war on your unjust dictatorship, and will seek to liberate the populace of Maer Mamwlad from your oppression. However, we do not seek war willingly, and will leave negotiating channels open. These are our demands:

I. You step down and immediately as ruler of Maer Mamwlad, though you may remain as monarch if the people desire it,
2. Dismantle your police state apparatus with immediate effect,
3. Install a democratic system of representative democracy within your nation.

These can be negotiated, but only to an extent. Choose wisely, for your people.

Signed, Emperor Edric Skaran III of the Valaran Empire, ruler of Valaran occupied Turntry, Valaran occupied Jazakstan, & other assorted, dominions, colonies, etc

To: Vallance Vallen, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Cedoria
Encryption: High
From: Prime Minister Alstan,

We shall not delay any longer. Our relief force will be dispatched to assist in liberating Maer Mamwlad, and our generals should communicate further on the exact military details on how this shall be done. For now, we shall send any military Intel we currently have, and finish preparations. You have our support.

Yours sincerely,
Prime Minister James Alstan

In response to the vote, military preparations begun apace. The newly finished carrier Aegir was to be dispatched, along with the 3rd air wing. Supply ships, with the 11th & 12th divisions VRF (24,000 infantry, 220 Tanks) were also part of this task force, as were limited numbers of drones and special forces. This was all to be headed under the command of General Valens, who was allowed considerable strategic flexibility by Valaran High Command.

The forces of war had been unleashed.

Imperial Naval Station Norfolk
Admiral Gorjan Trajkovski was slowly walking towards his flagship after exiting the car. He was just promoted from vice admiral to admiral, and was sure he will not fail the trust placed into him. Boarding the HIMS "Boris Trajanov" he went strait into the CIC
"Admiral on the deck" was the shout from one of the officers
"At ease guys. I would like to put on record the fact that I am glad that I was given command of this ship and this battle group. I have high expectations out of every single one of us and I expect that we will work great as a team in order to protect the interest of the Empire. Now lets continue the loading our first voyage awaits us in less then 12 hours. Flag officers in my quarters. We have to discuss the situation with the battle group. The rest get back to your jobs"
5 minutes later inside the briefing room next to the Admiral quarters
"Take a seat gentlemen. I would like to evaluate the situation of this battle group before setting sail this night. Vice admiral Web can you elaborate?" was asked by the admiral as he took his seat at the head of the table. Finally after 25 years in the navy at the age of 48 he was admiral. He would finally be given command of a full battle group rather then just being part of one. He knew the challenges ahead of him were much larger then they were as an vice admiral but he was ready.
"Well sir first and foremost I am glad you are replacing the retired admiral Burke as commander of the battle group. Lets get to business. The 46th battle group is comprised of the following:
2 Gligorov class Aircraft Carriers
2 Nimitz class Aircraft carriers
6 Monarch class cruisers
4 Kirov class battlecruisers
5 type 45 destroyers
10 Alerign Burke class destroyers
4 Virginia class submarines
Also as part of our task force we will have 2 full marine divisions as part of our intervention in Maer Mamwlad under command of Major General Lucas West. He will be joining us in an hour or 2. Flagship of the task force is the HIMS "Boris Trajanov"
12 hours latter the Boris Trajanov powered up its engines and started the slow exit from the naval station as the rest of the task force followed suit. As the ships were exiting the port a lot of people gathered to watch the spectacle of the imperial ships exiting port. The Nimitz will receive the rest of their squadrons in 2 hours as they were still not loaded. The situation has reached a melting point. The rest was up to the Maer Mamwlad government and how will they respond to the ultimatum.

To: Government of Maer mamwlad
From: Antonio Vorchevski Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Macedonian Grand Empire
The actions you have taken have sickened the members of the government of the Macedonian Grand Empire. Killing your own parents, brothers and sisters is a crime that can not be described. We call on you to stand down and allow for elections to take place as due to your actions the monarchy has lost its legitimacy. On The Beaches Of Maer Mamwlad
Commander Von Dasserbassen sat in the command tenet of the front line. He smoked his cigarette quietly, reviewing a map of the coast. He looked at his assistant.

"Are the Dolphins ready?" he asked

"yes they are sir"

"well then send them out, if there are any enemy boast nearing our waters, the dolphins will get them."

Soon afterwards, 20 dolphins strapped with light explosives were deployed into the ocean. The dolphins had been trained to hate boats, and if all went well, the would kamikaze enemy ships that neard them.

Soon afterwards, 20 dolphins strapped with light explosives were deployed into the ocean. The dolphins had been trained to hate boats, and if all went well, the would kamikaze enemy ships that neard them.

OOC: Eh Dolphins? Not sure if you got that from Red Alert 3, but dolphins aren't used in real warfare, I would recommend changing that to something more realistic.

Coast of Maer Mamwlad
The People's Navy taskforce has arrived in Maer Mamwlad, the battleships and frigates have begun bombarding the coastal air defences of Maer Mamwlad, knocking out AA and SAM batteries on the coastline in their area. Because the AA can't fire back the task should be accomplished quickly. PAFC fighter squadrons have been mobilised aboard the Liberator ready to scramble in case the enemy sends aircraft of their own to attack the naval taskforce. The AA and SAM batteries are taking a beating, once they are disabled by the Navy guns, the ground forces can begin their portion of the operation against Caradoc and his Fascist regime.

I agree General, our assault is currently being launched against Caradoc's coastal defences, once our forces are ashore, they will move to establish a Forward Operating Base and liberate the local population, we request that you join with us in this area, so we may coordinate to launch a joint assault on Caradoc's key military and government positions.

Indeed. We did not realize you had already launched an attack, and will do our best to support your actions. While I remain concerned about their AA and missile defenses I will authorize a fighter strike by two F35 squadrons, with F22s held on standby in case of enemy counter assaults. Various other planes will also be used, though I shall give you their call-signs so that misunderstandings do not occur. When my fleet arrives we shall support with ground troops, though this shall take longer. Good luck in your assault.

I would agree that a conference is needed in order to work out a joint strategy and how we should proceed with the conflict. I am extending an invitation to all the commanders to gather on the HIMS "Boris Trajanov" in order to discuss strategy. I am awaiting your response. We will be in the area in 12 hours.

Along the decks of the carriers preparations were conducted for the flight operations that were to follow. The 2 Gligorov class carriers were to take care of any air superiority missions as their 48 F 44 Nosfertatu and 48 F 22 Raptors were a testament to. The Nimitz were operating a 40 F 35 and 40 F 18 super hornets per ship and would take care of the ground support of the 2 marine divisions. Aboard the landing ships helicopters and tanks were being prepared. A total of 10.000 troops and 200 M 90 Vihor tanks were tasked with taking the beaches before being reinforced by the rest of the 2 divisions they had on board. Commanders were using the feeds from the Baron to plan their own tactics with their men. Tank crews were checking their tanks for any problems before going out.

All right people. This is it. Prepare to move with full spectrum jamming of enemy radar. Put some of their computers into endless restarting loops as soon as the first strikes are inbound. Lets try to help our guys take as few casualties as possible.

People's Navy frigates and battleships have knocked out Maer Mamwlad's coastline defences. They are now beginning the process of landing ground troops, who are establishing a forward operating base, FOB just inland from the beach. Meeting no resistance from enemy troops, they take the first steps onto Maer Mamwlad soil. Now they await the landing of Valaran and Macedonian troops to link up with them and plan a campaign strategy. Fighters still circle overhead, to eliminate anybody who attempts to attack from the air.

Since the coastline is not yet secured, this seems like the best option available. I shall attend at 1100 hours.
