Domrémy-la-Pucelle
Amnesty Army Outpost #24601
Prinzesin Hanna Maria Isabelle Sabine Franz Albrecht Herzog von Bayern

It is night, and the air is hot and muggy. A young, red-haired woman in an Imperial German Army uniform rides in the back of an electric M35 21/2-ton cargo truck, surrounded by numerous other people in varied qualities of clothing, most French, all refugees. Some are sleeping, but most are wide-awake, with a mixture of fear and excitement in their eyes. The truck rolls up to a small outpost, which consists of several tents featuring a stylized candle held aloft by a hand. There are several trucks like it, also featuring the symbol but painted with advanced camouflage - undetectable to all but the smartest metas - except for one which bears a red cross on all sides, and a small LED lamp above each. This is Amnesty Army Outpost #24601, one of AA's many 'transfer' outposts, which operate only at night and are designed to be easily hidden during the day. They are mostly used, as the name implies, to transfer persons between trucks, with as little stoppage time as possible, though they can keep humans at the site in emergencies for a few hours or so. Any longer and they would need to find a nearby safehouse, or hide in the wilderness until the next night.

The truck finally comes to a stop next to a Mercedes-Benz Zetros 6x6 truck, painted in similar camouflage but marked with the seal of Imperial Germany's special forces - specifically, one of their metahuman divisions. Many of the refugees breathe a sigh of relief, but a few of them, such as the old man next to the young German soldier, are only made more nervous. Questions of their safety murmur about in their heads, and she can hear every one of them. She was a metahuman, after all, not to mention the Princess of Imperial Germany, and commanding officer of its special forces. Hearing the thoughts of others was just one of the things she could do.

The old man next to her tapped her on the shoulder. He was very old, and very human, and very frail. He looked like he had survived the Second World War, and a quick scan of his memories revealed that he, in fact, did.

Old Man:"Excuse me, young lady, but I was only led onto this truck at the last stop by my two sons. They got me out of my home in the forests of Lorraine, and got me to come here. I haven't paid attention to the news in decades, and all I know of recent events is that somehow the empires of Europe have returned. Please, what is going on?"

The young woman sighed.

Hanna:"You really haven't been paying attention to the news, have you, Fisher King? Very well, but get on the other truck first, we have a ways to go yet, and I'll tell you on the way."

Hanna: "No-one knows precisely what happened, not even the most superintelligent metahumans -"
Old Man: "Metahumans? You mean like Superman?"
Hanna: [snickering] "Yeah, like Superman, but not just those powers. I, for example, have telekinesis, among other psychic abilities. But moving back on track..."

In case you weren't aware, there is another plane of existence, neither Heaven nor Hell, simply... there. It's supposedly a massive basin of magical or paranormal or whatever energies, filled with the species of every mythology according to their region: Elves in Germany and Scandinavia, besta-fera in Brazil, tanukis and other yōkai in Japan, so on. And much like humans, they originated in Africa. Olduvai Gorge, specifically. Such knowledge was known by man for centuries, ever since the days of the early witch-hunts, when the Catholic Church set up a secret crusade to keep the evil mythological beings out, and the good ones safe from human harm."

Old Man: "I see... but what does that have to do with me being in this truck, heading to Germany?"
Hanna: "I'm getting to that. You see, on September 13th, 2000... welll, there was an impact. We think."
Old Man: "You think?"
Hanna: "We aren't certain. But somehow, there was an event, that unleashed the same amount of paranormal energy in that world that would have been released in our world if Earth had bee hit by an asteroid the size of Manhattan travelling at roughly ninety percent the speed of light, squarely in Olduvai. Over ninety percent of life forms - of any sort - on that plane were destroyed in an instant. The sheer force of the impact, combined with the vacuum of paranormal energy created, forced whatever the impactor was into our world, taking immeasurable amount of energy with it. Olduvai Gorge itself is now a reverse-crater that's still burning with violet flames and blanketed by a storm that brings no life with its rain, instead killing anything not in a protective suit. Down to the bacteria, metahuman or not."

The spread of superhuman abilities was immediate, as was its effect on global society, and politics. Revolutions started. Some areas were liberated, such as North Korea, China, and, well, most of Spain. In others, the oppression became more severe, such as northern Nigeria, or Myanmar, or whatever's left of Afghanistan. In other places, empires rose from the ashes, or new ones formed, such as in Mongolia, France, England (even with the loss of Scotland), America, or my own country, Germany, of which I am the princess of."

Old Man: "Well! I was unaware I was talking to royalty, Your Highness!"
Hanna: "Ehh, it's Your Royal Highness, but I don't really care enough about that right now."
Old Man: "Sorry."
Hanna: "Apology accepted. Moving on."

"I think mine (and the House of Windsor) was the only preexisting royal family to get any powers, and that's why the Wittelsbachs sit on the throne of Imperial Germany, but apart from England and Germany, all the current royal families are commoners that became metas. The thing about superhuman powers is that it makes a lot of people think they're better than those that don't have superhuman powers. And when those people get in political power, that can lead to some dramtic changes. A lot of countries started proposing rather... restrictive laws in the United Nations, which even by that point in 2001 was largely meta-controlled. As a direct result, many of those laws were passed internationally, some countries, such as France and Russia, went even further than the UN, and started doing some... barbaric... things to their nonmeta population."

Old Man: "Such as..."
Hanna: "Segregation laws, ranging from mild to Apartheidesque. Restricting travel. Restricting right to own property, or to speak in public. 'Conservation' camps. You were alive in World War Two, it shouldn't take much imagination to realize what those camps really are. And the UN permitted it all, because it was controlled by those self-same metas.
Old Man: "My God... did all that really happen?"
Hanna: "Happen? It's happening now. There were exceptions, of course. Our ambassador to the UN realized what was happening almost right away - he was Jewish, after all - and threatened to have Germany leave the UN if they continued. They did, and we left. UK, Israel, Palestine and Scotland were the next to follow in early 2002, then United Korea when they finished their Unification War in 2003, then the Golden Horde - that's Mongolia - about a month later. Canada followed in 2006, after quelling a meta-supremacist uprising in Quebec. Tibet joined about ten years ago, in 2007, after a lengthy debate in their government as to whether to stay globally neutral or not. We united and formed the Assembly For Humanity, with Amnesty Army as our main 'peacekeeping' force. We've also purchased a fair amount of mostly-unused land from other nations willing to give it up, namely in Africa, Argentina, and Brazil. All of it is, according to the UN, German territory, as they don't recognize AFH and their headquarters are in Berlin. Not only that, but the reason you've probably only traveled at night - and the reason everyone else has is... well, Amnesty Army isn't exactly recognized as a legal organization by the UN. At all. In fact, we're considered terrorists by the UN."
Old Man: "It sounds dangerous."
Hanna: "Oh, it is, it is..."

Hanna became silent very suddenly as the sound of French Eurocopters roared overhead. Thankfully, the truck was not spotted, but they continued the journey to Germany in silence.

Précis

In case you tl;dr'd that entire section up above, here's the short summary: There is a world parallel to ours where all the magical creatures (and their magic) exist. On September 13, 2000, that world a splode, and the high-speed object that caused it asploded into our world at Olduvai, bathing Earth in metaphysical radiation, turning a little over 80% of Earth's population into metahumans - that is, people with superpowers. These people quickly took power, some nations rose to old heights, others fell to new lows, but many started oppressing that 20% that wasn't transformed into Homo Superior. And by oppressing I mean what oppressing was in the 1940s. A lot. And the UN, which was entirely meta-controlled, was totally chill with this.

Naturally a few nations got pissed off. These nations formed the Assembly For Humanity (which the UN doesn't recognize), with its own peacekeeping arm, labeled the 'Humanist Front' and a terrorist group by the UN, Department of Peacekeeping by the AFH, and (informally) 'Amnesty Army' by its members.

You will not be agents of the AFH's peacekeeping corps. I mean, you can if you want to be, but their actions will not be the main focus of this story. Their actions will mostly be limited to either side plots or, if they really do something epic nearby, they could become firefights... or even boss fights.

You, the characters, start out in Paris, France, one of the most touristy cities in Europe, and home to the AFH's main French base. It is August 25th, 2017 and, unbeknownst to the AFH, the UN Peackeeping forces (and the French Army) have located this base. Tonight, they attack, civilians or no: An evacuation of the entire city of Paris, for whatever reason, would be too great a tip-off for the AFH.

The World As It Is:
World Map
World Map Key
Political Map
(Nations on the second map in blue are UN nations, nations in gold are AFH)

Welcome to Earth, circa August 2017, where the powers are made up and the African noncolonial borders don't matter! A lot has changed since that fateful day in Y2K. Let's take a look at some of the more interesting global stuff, shall we?
  • 11 nations [Canada, Great Britain, Scotland, Germany, Mongolia, Tibet, Israel, Palestine, Afghanistan, Switzerland, United Korea] have all left the UN (Afghanistan was ejected)
  • Great Britain, Scotland, Germany, and Switzerland have also left the EU, which has thusly collapsed.
  • 9 nations [Canada, Great Britain, Scotland Germany, Mongolia, Tibet, Israel, Palistine, United Korea] have united to form the Assembly For Humanity, headquartered in Berlin.

And that's just the political stuff. Sportsing people, fret not, the results of the years from 2000 to 2014 remain the same, Spain still won in 2010, and Brazil still got butt-pirated out of the final in 2014 to watch Germany win. Technology is right on the edge of cyberpunk. Holographic touchscreens exist, cyborgs are military prototypes, and military walkers are a thing - Though they're more like Metal Gears than Gundams, and thus largely defensive. Laser weapons, while used by the military, are typically huge and unwieldable by (most) humans, meta or otherwise. Mainly because they are either jet-powered or have batteries the size of Volkswagens.

Europe
Image
Key

Europe got off pretty good for a continent with so much strife. The only nation that really imploded was Spain, and not many people should be surprised by that. Scotland gained its independence pretty quickly after September 13th, and Finland managed to take back Karelia by the end of September which, along with Kaliningrad, is so far the only territory that Russia has lost: The Great Bear has swallowed Belarus, Lithuania, and Latvia, and is currently in the process of trying to devour Ukraine. Germany likewise went into Anschluss mode. Ironically, the Poles really did deserve it this time. The Czechs helped, and both nations got rekt with the assistance of France, thus marking the only time in history the French and the Germans have fought on the same side willingly, and quite possibly the last. As to why they deserved it? Well, Poland caught fascist fever and went on a foreigner-purging spree, along with a few Balkan nations. Germany didn't like this, and neither did France, so they intervened. (England helped too, but they were a little busy rediscovering how to rule the waves to do very much damage.) Russia was about to intervene on the side of its fellow Slavs, but cooler heads prevailed (for once) and the Kremlin decided that their fellow Slavic nations were being little shits and probably deserved a nice beating.

France seemed to catch the anschluss bug from Russia and Germany, and Italy and Great Britain both caught it from France, and they've all gone a-conquering in Africa again. Italy tore a huge chunk out of Libya but went no further - internal strife and a none-too-good economy prevented it from doing that. That and the rampant corruption only got worse. France stole the Canaries from the Spanish, then went ahead and swallowed Algeria, Tunisia, most of Morocco, all of West Sahara, and the northern chunk of Mali. It also kept its iron grip on French Guyana, where it maintains its rocket program. And it's also totally not ignoring nuclear treaties by building ICBMs in secret there. Not that it matters, since nuclear weapons are a lesser concern now than they used to be.

After a wave of Britain-stronk feelings in the early 2000s, the United Kingdom went on a shopping spree, swallowing up Egypt, the Sudan, Belize, Somalia (which they barely control), the Bahamas, Jamaica, a few Antilles, and then went on a rather scatterbrained attempt to take Nigeria. That, however, did not work, and all they did was split the country into four pieces. Oops. Germany, likewise, went on a bit of anschlussing, but it was mostly through land purchases: Parts of Cameroon and Chad (They are currently attempting to obtain both, though this time by the sword), a huge chunk of the Congo and Angola, a chunk of Brazil here, a bit of Argentina there, and of course the area around Olduvai nobody wanted. There were even talks of Germany claiming a chunk of the West African coast, though nothing came of this.

Thank Goddess Belgium is too weak any sort of imperialism of its own, however.

Africa
Map
Key

Famine. Desertification. Drought. Malaria. AIDS. Child soldiers. Warlords. Civil wars. Genocides. Many Western news corps often paint Africa this way when they're not in 'helping-Africa' mode. And yet in the 1990s, though it seemed to be on the road to a potential recovery, it was still a pretty shitty place, about as bad a place to spawn in the game of life as can be, right?

Yeah, it got worse. If you show a warlord or a revolutionary leader you have superpowers, one of two things will happen: They'll kill you for being a witch, or they'll recruit/enslave you, and start getting you to find more to recruit/enslave. And that leads to armies, and armies lead to civil wars, and civil wars lead to virtually everyone that wants independence getting it. In most areas, said wars are still raging. Or maybe you just took over his operations. But then, as you stared into the abyss, it stared back, then a hand reached up and sucked you into the moral blackness. Or you died, and that jackass is running around waging a genocide against all things meta. No small feat, but in some parts of the Congo and the Sahel, it seems to be working with terrifying effectiveness. Even the African colonies the European powers either purchased (or carved out) of the Continent are unsafe, with retaliatory raids from the warlord of the area almost constantly. This is not helped by said European forces counterattacking with extreme prejudice. To the south, replace European powers with the South African Republic, which is about as lawful as the NCR but with twice the firepower, three times the manifest destiny, and 2d4 the Apartheid, depending on the mood of its mentally cracked dictator.

There is, of course, one area that is safe from bullets, and that is the Olduvai Colony, which is German controlled, almost devoid of life, and filled with such dangerous metaphysical energy that it's impossible to get within 20 kilometers of Olduvai Crater without dying if you don't have a specially-designed suit, and unless you're some kind of god, it's impossible to get within 10 kilometers with the suit. At 5 kilometers, even UAVs start to malfunction, and the only way to get a good look of it is by satellite. The nearby Congo and Serengeti, more worryingly, is starting to show signs of the metaphysical effecting the non-human life here.

And it gets better. A few rebel groups in the Sahel decided in 2002 to be good people (for once) and recruit some plant manipulators to restore the Sahel to fruitfulness. Some South Africans got a similar idea at about the same time to try and bring forth fruit from the Kalahari, much like Americans did from California.

Unfortunately they forgot to tell them how to stop, and now Africa is in deep risk of getting overrun by plants.

That's right, Africa has turned into Catachan. Bring as much dakka as you can carry, the heresy never stops. The night's just begun. Hurry, hurry!

Asia and Oceania
Map
Oceania Map (New Zealand is grey you dingbats)
Key

While not as dramatic as the firestorm that is Africa, Asia is also the worse for wear. North and South Korea went after each other the moment Olduvai exploded, with predictable results: Overwhelming South Victory, and Catholicism On The Rise. A fascist Republic of Australia pushed upwards into New Guinea and the Pacific Islands, finally gaining territory north of the equator, while New Zealand could only watch and kick its ass at rugby on a regular basis, just like always. Indonesia took the blow pretty hard, and while it managed to seize East Timor, the effort cost it Borneo and the northern tip of Sumatra. Communist China completely disintegrated, with the entire northern half being seized by a reawakened Mongol anschluss-dragon. Tibet stole its independence from the ashes, and Taiwan retook the rest, though it lost Beijing to the Mongols and is still losing ground. (Curiously Mongolia seems disinterested in Tibet. Maybe they're just being nice.) Myanmar, unlike the rest of Southeast Asia which only maintained some semblance of status quo or slightly deteriorated, exploded. Violently. If you look closely you will notice its constituent regions are slightly different colors. This is because they may as well be different countries at this point. That are always at war with each other. Yes. Japan regained its military might, since really, with China and North Korea gone, nobody was strong enough (Or interested in them enough) to stop them. Rumor has it they plan to expand into the Pacific and take some land back from Australia. No word on anything against America, however.

South Asia, oh my. India and Pakistan went at it the moment they discovered they had superpowers. Internal attempted-revolutions hurt both, but India swallowed Pakistan in the end due to sheer population difference. It is still highly unstable, however, and some areas run the risk of turning into Myanmar. Not fun. Nepal, amusingly enough, became the region's Switzerland. The old Switzerland. The Switzerland kings wet themselves in fear of, the Switzerland no hostile army dares tread in for fear of getting torn to shreds, Ewoked to death, or both. The Switzerland where every bridge is rigged to blow, every mountain hollowed out and full of pissed-off natives with guns. That is Nepal, but with substantially more avalanche-inducing mortars. And 100% more Gurkha, which just makes it that much worse. Bhutan, amusingly, became Tibet's bitch, again, and continues to be Nepal's weird monarchial cousin. With a bitchin' flag.

The Middle East could be considered to have it better or worse than Africa, depending on who you ask. On one hand, Israel and Palestine coexist, Kurdistan is free, Iran is a secular state, and the Sauds have brought some more stability to the Arabian Peninsula. On the other hand, ISIS exists, Saudi Arabia is just as oppressive as ever, Greece has taken over Cyprus, European Turkey, and started its regular, Golden Dawn-fueled attacks against Istanbul within months of the Olduvai Event, and Afghanistan has finally lost all semblance to being a country. It doesn't even care anymore. Just... just stay the eff out of Afghanistan. It is not for you. It is not safe. Even Russia, which took over all the territory in Asia it lost when the USSR fell, wants nothing to do with the Graveyard of Empires.

South America

Gold - Republic of Peru

Silver - Germany
Light Green - Brazil
Medium Green - Ecuador
Dark Green - Guyana
Purple - Suriname
Dark Blue - France
Cyan - Uruguay
Light Blue - South Brazil

Terracotta - Paraguay
Red - Chile
Dark Blue - Argentina

The Americas probably changed the least out of any of the continents. South America, for instance. It was never the best place to live, but overall it wasn't that bad, either. And the same applies now. The Imperial German colonies are pretty nice whether you're meta or not, and Chile, Uruguay, South Brazil and Ecuador are pretty nice, too. Suriname and Guyana are dirt poor, but at least they're safer than Venezuela and Colombia, the latter of which went capitulated after a violent FARC resurgence that isn't popular, but is sadly full of very strong metas. It won't be going anywhere soon, probably.

Hueland is still an unstable country with an incredible rich-poor divide that was made only worse by the metas taking power, and worse still by the butt-piracy it suffered in the 2014 World Cup. The country is now borderline-fascist, and it's probably a good thing it no longer borders Colombia, otherwise the two nations would be at war right now. Luckily, a German colony (and, you know, the Amazon) is in the way, and traversing it is too much of a logistics nightmare to be feasible, superpowers or no. Even FARC doesn't want to go too deep in it; it's far too easy to get lost in there.

One of the first things Argentina did after the metas came into being was try to take the Falklands from Britain. They lost. Again. Germany bought a huge chunk of their land in exchange for paying off their war debts and helping stabilize the country. Which they did. And Argentina may or may not become the first South American nation in the AFH now. [Since Germany has said in secret that if they do, they get their clay back.]

North America
Map
Red - Greenland (Denmark)
Navy Blue - America
Maple Syrup - Canada
Terracotta - Lakota
Light Green - Union of Central America
Medium Green - Mexico
Dark Green - United Kingdom
Dark Red - Zapatista
Oranje - Netherlands

Before September 13, 2000, North America was probably the best place in the world to live. Afterwards, it's... still the best place in the world to live, especially if you live in Canada, where you can be human without having to worry about being randomly searched on national air flights. It initially was going to go along with the rest of the UN and crack down on its nonmeta population, but a right-wing uprising of meta Quebecois changed the Canadian public's mind about it.

To the south, America lost a sizable chunk of territory to a massive uprising of Native Americans in the northern section of the Great Plains region, and the US let them have their freedom, since the area was economically not worth that much, and they practically made up the lost territory with their anschlussing in the Caribbean - Cuba declared war on America, Cuba got anschlussed, then Haiti and the Dominican Republic, then Puerto Rico became a state (Along with the other big Carib islands), then Panama. Much better tourism industry there than in the Lakota Republic. Besides, the nukes are still American... technically. A plus for Americans is that, while it is by no means Canada, being nonmeta in America isn't all that bad. According to the meta-controlled media. Yes. It's totally not like being Japanese in the '40s at all.

Other countries aren't of much note, because besides some borders, only a few things have changed. Apart from Belize, Central America has united into one corrupt mess instead of several. [Belize got reclaimed by the UK. So did Jamaica and the Bahamas, along with a few other Antilles nations. Most of the rest got Robben'd of their independence by Nederland.] Zapatista, in Mexico, gained its bloody independence and its bloody communism in a very bloody manner. The rest of Mexico is much the same as before, maybe with a greater rich-poor divide and a significantly stronger Cartel. Though, with people who can simulate the effects of drugs as their superpower walking around, it's a surprise the Cartel is still in business at all...

Oh, right. Human trafficking. Nevermind.

Eeyup, that I was planning lol. Y'know me. Hmm, would it be possible they're part of the royal family of Mongolia here?

Besides, I did stated in my past Earth-based RPs that Ai is a descendant of Genghis Khan.

Hm, interesting idea. I'll do some schedule managing and see if I'll have the proper amount of time to dedicate to another rp.

Entirely possible, though do note that Hanna will only play a minor role in this at most.

So if characters are not members of the Amnesty Army, then who are they? Where do they begin? What do they have in common with each other? I'm interested, but I'm kind of puzzled as to what sort of characters you are actually looking for here.
For really, I think that the poorest he that is in England hath a life to live as the greatest he. And therefore truly, Sir, I think it's clear that every man that is to live under a Government ought first by his own consent to put himself under that Government. And I do think that the poorest man in England is not at all bound in a strict sense to that Government that he hath not had a voice to put himself under.

Ah, fuck, I forgot to add that. The characters start near or in Paris. The UN is planning a raid on the AA base there, which is their French hub. Naturally citizens will be caught in the crosshairs, and may choose what side to get involved in. I picked Paris for two reasons: Firstly the original BoR started in Paris, secondly Paris is such a touristy city that anyone from anywhere could be there.

Taggity tag tag tag.

I shall get an app up shortly.
Also, what powers are we limited to here? Because I know of a few from Heroes (that fantastical TV series) that are are borderline overpowered, so I would like to know what we are limited to exactly.

Of course, I am most certainly interested. This series was my FIRST major RP that I had involvement in way back in 2010.

I'll put up an application soon.

Name: Tyrannus Nycholis
Age: The Multiverse
Nationality: Na'achtellian (Appears American as a human)
Occupation (if applicable): Of the Philosopher caste (scouts, teachers, etc. Essentially a warrior monk/scholar.) of the Na'achtellian Empire. Photographer/writer as a human.
Height: 8'2" natural; 6'6" human.
Weight: 536 lbs natural; 255 lbs human.
General Appearance/pic: Here he is.
Also...
Finally, as a human.
Powers/abilities: Flight, MacGyver level resourcefulness, camouflage, complete control over light.

Dislikes: Humans, ignorance, willful ignorance, etc.
Bio: "Tyr", as he is known, is a Na'achtellian. Essentially a race of meta-physical energy beings inhabiting physical bodies that they 'drive', which are grown for them in labs. The race was created at the beginning the multiverse as the guardians and keepers of knowledge. Originally located in a dimension separate from the 'physical' realm called "Quadraaius", these guardians watched over the known and unknown verses, ensuring that balance was kept between the eternally warring primal forces of reality.

Tyr is one of the oldest of the species, the leader of the Philosopher caste and the Guardian of Light (and the fields spawning from it). He currently inhabits a Mark VI scout/light combat body (first picture shown above). He was sent to Earth to investigate the impact which twisted and entwined the worlds.
Current location/situation: Soon to be in Paris (warping in).
RP sample: I was in the original....so....does that count?

I'm pretty happy with how the picture turned out. Paint.NET works wonders. Since I wanted to integrate the original Reth into the story as much as I could, I did have to apply a different origin story.

Name: R'Thir Z'kar Sin Alam, "Reth" for short.
Age: Unspecified
Nationality: Assyrian/Babylonian
Occupation (if applicable): N/A
Height: 6'4"
Weight: 124lbs
General Appearance/pic:
Image
Image

Powers/abilities:
Spatial Manipulation: Using his eyes, Reth can manipulate space.
Right eye: Dimensional manipulation: A sub-power of spatial manipulation, this ability allows Reth to use subspace travel for short and instant teleportation, dimensional gates for long-distance travel and phasing to become intangible.
Left eye: Space generation/deletion: A sub-power of spatial manipulation, this ability allows Reth to generate spatial forcefields, use spatial slicing or crushing and displace objects in space within his vicinity relative to his own position in space (similar to gravitational push or pull). It also allows him to walk on (for example) the ceiling.
Immortality: Due to his ability to distort space and regular use of it, Reth has become some sort of dimensional singularity, result in him no longer ageing.

Weapons (if any): N/A
Personality: Like any person that has lived too long, Reth is often snide, grumpy and feels superior to others. Because has lived way too long, he's also a little crazy, up to the point where he has developed a God complex. He is a lawful evil character (yet doesn't consider himself evil) that strongly believes both mankind and metahumans are incapable of ruling themselves and ultimately require subjugation - or death. He is not one to commit ruthless or unnecessary violence without good reason, though there are still remnants of madness deep within his personality. Though his illusions of grandeur and self-importance were once quite great, Reth has grown less zealous with age and somewhat melancholic and pessimistic.
Likes: Loyalty and kinship.
Dislikes: Reth strongly loathes the very core of human nature, considering it rotten and impossible to change. This does not mean he loathes humanity, however, and instead feels a pity towards regular (meta)humans that do not live long enough to see how ugly they truly are.
Bio:A very long time ago, humanity was not as ignorant of the transmundane, yet as they were forgotten by history their writings became mere fantastical myths. But even many ages before the dawn of Christ, mankind was already forgetting their ancient knowledge as more and more of its secrets were confined to only a few men that called themselves Magi.

It was one of these Magi that was the author of Reth's fate, the fate of R'Thir Z'kar Sin Alam. His mother was a nameless Assyrian commoner in with no true value, plucked from the street like cattle and submitted as yet another experiment for the Magi's delusional practices, driven by desperation to restore their might. Their blood ritual demanded the child within her womb, and as they completed their ungodly ritual by cutting the child out of the mother's belly, the Magi saw they had succeeded. Its eyes were a sign of hope. They praised their obscure gods and dedicated themselves to raising and teaching this child.

The Magi had great plans, but these were never meant to come to fruition. It didn't take long for Reth to see past their lies and see the Magi for what they truly were. Their mistake was to raise their prodigy as a tool, and as a tool he did exactly what he was created for. The Magi were eradicated in a single night. For the first time in his life, Reth felt what freedom felt like. It felt liberating at first, but that feeling soon turned rotten, as his eyes became a stigma. As if he were branded scarlet letter, Reth was shunned and despised by his own people, only because they feared him. The disgust and fright he saw in their eyes, day in and day out, was enough to break the young Assyrian child. The more they judged him to be a monster, the more did he come to believe that he really was.

With not a single skill or trade, Reth relied on his powers during most of his early life to survive. He stole from others to prolong his meaningless existence, but only when he became much older did he realise that his existence would not be as meaningless as he first thought.

When he first became an anomaly in space-time through extensive use of his abilities, Reth saw it as a curse, a taunt by the gods themselves to drive him to suicide. Once abandoned by his people, but now by the gods as well, Reth became bitter and vengeful. He refused to end his life, but instead devoted it to his own pleasures and whims. He led most of the Classical and Medieval age murdering and raping, paying special attention to anyone that was overly religious - especially those that served any kind of god. It wasn't until the crusades that Reth's bloodlust reached its peak. Enticed by the promise of so many devoted servants of the Lord fighting the Islam heretics, Reth joined the crusade using the wealth he amassed over the years under the guise of a knight, eventually spending most of that time slaughtering islam heretics and crusaders alike.

Perhaps it was then that Reth realised what a psychotic individual he had become, a man consumed by hatred of mankind and its gods. As he sat upon the corpses of his fallen foes, Reth could only laugh as his mind slipped into madness.

Reth's odyssey was fraught with bloodshed and lasted several ages, up until somewhere in the 16th century when he finally returned as a sane member of society. As enigmatic head of House Ylisvain, Reth used his wealth, for all sorts of ends, including politics and science. He was a nameless benefactor for thousands of people, people that had never heard of the man but somehow earned his attention. These people were often men of science of opponents of religious groups.

He had realised that violence was not a means to achieve his goal, but deep down he still felt the evil that had taken root inside of him, a nagging hatred that became greater with each passing tragedy in the course of human history. Still, despite all that hate he had a glimmer of hope.

When the world finally arrived at the dawn of the 21st century, all that changed. Before his eyes, Reth saw humanity become corrupt with power, the kind of power that had corrupted him for ages and drove him to insanity. It was that day he judged this new humanity unfit to rule, and left the manor of House Ylisvain, donning a mask and a new goal. To put a permanent end to this new reign of humanity.
Current location/situation: Paris, I assume?
RP sample: Rup, plz

It feels nice to actually know SOMETHING about Reth this time around.

I suppose it helps that Rup actually required a bio this time around.

Let me know if changes are needed.

Name: Chelsea Smith

Age: 26

Nationality: USA

Occupation (if applicable):

Height: 5'9"

Weight: 145 pounds

General Appearance/pic: She has slightly pale skin, a curvy frame. Her hair is black, but always cut short, as in buzz-cut short. She has green eyes.

Powers/abilities: Pyrokinesis, Air Manipulation, very fast healing

Weapons (if any): She keeps a survival knife on her, but that's about it. She knows how to use firearms though, and is practiced in archery

Personality: Calm and sometimes considered cold, she is quite friendly when she trusts the person.

Likes: Decent people, treating normal humans like people, the AFH

Dislikes: Meta-human supremacists, the UN

Bio: Born in eastern Pennsylvania, USA, Chelsea had a normal upbringing. Even before Y2K she often joined her father and older brother when they went hunting, not actually killing any of the animals, but she did practice rifles and bows. After Y2K she was the only person in her immediate family to have powers. Her family treated her normally, and her town carried on with life as usual, no one really treating each other badly. Though as the years passed and new families moved into the area, tensions began to rise. One day a smallish mob of meta-humans formed, wanting to drive the human families out of the town. Local law enforcement, a small station with only a handful of officers, was overwhelmed. When the mob reached her home, things got bad. Harsh words were exchanged between the mob leaders and Chelsea's father and older brother, and a brief fight broke out, leaving her brother severely injured.

Chelsea responded violently. A firestorm swept through the mob, killing over half of them, the rest severely burned. The next month was a flurry of action as the family went into hiding, fleeing north to Canada. The family made it and settled in to live with relatives from the mothers aide of the family. Since that night however, Chelsea has remained quite fiery, no pun intended, about the human rights issues now plaguing the world. That feeling, plus the desire to not cause potential trouble to her family, made Chelsea begin a life of travel and wandering, doing what she could for humans where ever she went.

Current location/situation: Paris, France, being bored.

Don't forget, you're here forever.

Name: Elisa Marshall
Age: 23
Nationality: English
Occupation (if applicable): Motor Transporation Officer, Second Class ATF Peacekeeping Corps. This is a fancy way of saying she drives the truck.
Height: 5'9"
Weight: 135 lbs
General Appearance/pic: Link is still best girl
Powers/abilities: Energy Constructs [Hard/soft, she is able to create both tangible and intangible constructs]
Weapons (if any): L85 rifle / Glock 17 pistol
Personality: A rather shy girl, actually. Introverted, prefers books to people and movies to parties. Surprisingly patriotic, however, and doesn't really think Scottish independence to be a good idea. A bit skittish.
Likes: Tea, England, Tottenham Hotspur, chickens, ATF
Dislikes: Arsenal, being reminded that England sucks internationally
Bio: Elisa's life so far has been, sadly, not very interesting. She grew up in North London, going to an all-girls school for most of her childhood, though this did not prevent her from joining the Army as a driver of cargo vehicles, meaning trucks. This was shortly after her getting reprimanded for hooliganism at a Tottenham game at the age of 18, which is her only criminal offense, and up to that point the most interesting thing to happen to her. She served two years, mostly in Africa trying not to get blown up, before transferring to ATF service. There, she expected to have a bit more adventure, only to find her job there would involve... even more truck driving.
Current location/situation: Driving a Totally Legit Truck That Isn't Carrying Nonmetas At All TM into Paris
RP sample: Huelocaust

I will make a a second main character app shortly. All apps so far accepted.
