Empress Lucille Returns To Active Politics After Two-Month Leave Of Absence

IBS Ft Aquilaine | In a surprise public appearance this morning, Empress Lucille announced that she was returning to the stage of international politics after taking a two-month break "for health reasons", taking back the running of the nation from the Imperial Chancellor, who had acted in her stead during her absence. Her Imperial Majesty explained that, during her time away in a secluded spa in the Imperial Territory of Kyato, she felt ready to once again tackle the issues of the day.

In her speech, the Empress seconded the condemnation of the Triad's "Rockepeller Doctrine" issued by her wife and co-ruler of the United Empire, Empress Adriana, saying that "the nations of Sondria need to learn to solve their issues on their own, and the Triad has no business getting involved in other nations' affairs." She welcomed the Erjunite reaction to the UE's Telrainan Doctrine, stating that this new development showed that even the Triad was open for progress and new ideas.

Nevertheless, in the face of heightened tensions all across the region, the Empress also announced that work had begun on a series of reforms to the Imperial Armed Forces, to enable the Aquilinian Empire to better coordinate its actions with its Alkharanian brothers, as well as its allies across the region, and at the same time strengthen the Empire's borders with its Triad-affiliated neighbours. Details of this reform are to be announced at a later date.

Speaking on economic matters, the Empress congratulated the Erjunite Republic on the discovery of a large deposit of rare earth elements, and invited representatives of several large Erjunite companies to Fort Aquilaine to discuss possible trade agreements, hoping that such agreements would help support the recovery of the United Empire's crisis-hit economy. She also announced that the Imperial Central Bank of Aquilinia (ICBA) would continue its asset purchasing programme to continue stimulate the Imperial economy. The ICBA's Board of Governors is due to meet on Wednesday to discuss further possible measures, including lowering the key interest rate to below 1 per cent. In reaction to these news, the Fort Aquilaine Unified Stock Traders' Index (FAUSTI) is expected to rally further on Monday.

An expert's opinion: Dr Piotr Scherzky, Imperial Economic Institute (IEI): While I welcome the decision to continue the asset purchases, I am not so sure if the ICBA will really decide to lower the interest rates even more. The economy is on a steady course towards recovery, unemployment is rapidly decreasing, companies are investing more and more. It is very likely that the only thing a lower key interest rate will achieve is that banks will make more profit out of loans instead of lowering their own interest rates. Still, we will have to wait and see what the Board of Governors decides to do before we can make a real prognosis.

Once again surprising the audience, Empress Lucille then spoke of the matter of reinstituting the Senate. With the next five-year referendum on reestablishing an elected parliament coming up next month, polls indicate that the public is becoming more and more inclined towards a "Yes" vote. The Empress once again confirmed that the result of the referendum would be respected, and, in case of a "Yes" vote, elections for a constitutional assembly tasked to create a new, better Senate, would take place within three months of the referendum. Calling on all citizens to use their right to vote, she reminded everyone to "decide what you think is right for our nation", and that the five-year referenda were an important part of legitimizing the Empire's absolute monarchy by popular support. Closing her speech, the Empress noted, that, "if the people feel that the time for change has come, that it is time to give power back to elected politicians, so be it. The Empire and its government always act with the good of the people in mind, after all."

The Empress' words were met with three minutes of thundering applause, before she retreated back into the Crystal Palace. She is expected to speak again, on the matter of the five-year referendum and the announced military reform, before the end of the month.

The video would begin with footage from a firefight between Al Hafa insurgents and Crontorian Ranger Guardsmen somewhere in Nasiriyah. It would show Al Hafa insurgents firing at the location where the Crontorian Guardsmen we're firing from. The sound of gun fire from various types of Kalashnikovs and the crack of gunfire from Echeron A5 assault rifles would be heard the most in the video. The camera would suddenly be fixated on a insurgent wielding a RPG-7 as he'd step out into the open amidst the gunfire, he'd suddenly fire off his projectile as dust would kick up. The camera would shift to where it was fired, that being towards the Crontorians, smoke would fill the air from their position as the insurgents screamed in joy "ALLAHU AKBAR" as the camera would zoom In and it would be noticed a Crontorian guardsmen crawling away from his cover after being struck with a RPG.

The video then switches to footage of a T-72 tank perched in a somewhat makeshift position, a Al Hafa flag would be pinned on the tank as several insurgents we're on top. The camera man would move to the side of the tank, zooming in as best he can just as the tank fired off a shell. Causing a loud boom effect for the camera that would be heard in the video, the camera would show the shell hitting it's mark on a building as a annotation would appear saying "Triad funded Shia Infidels occupied this building". The video then switches to several men standing around armed with a assortment of weaponry. The Al Hafa flag would be draped behind them on a wall as the men we're wearing ski masks to keep there identity a secret. One of the men would begin talking with his Kalashnikov rested on his shoulder;

"I hope that the infidel scum in Crontor , Tiami and the other scum that align with these tyrants are watching this. We are here to send a message to all of you, we are as you probably know, members of Al Hafa. We have gone through the oppression of these so called democratic nations that are actually ruled by oppressive tyrants. We started in Nasiriyah, defending it from the corrupt Mahdavian government and we had our brothers in Beblis, the BDLF protecting what they called home from the Crontorian infidels. Now we are all over Sondria, actively doing Allah's will, ridding the world of these corrupt governments.

We will not stop, we will not be defeated, we will not return to our normal lives until Allah says our job as his warriors is finished. Death or not we will not stop until our mission is done." The man speaking would then tap his rifle in his hand as he'd speak referring to it;

"With this weapon, we will free the slaves in Tiami and Aquilinia from their shackles, with this weapon we will free the slaves from Crontor and dispose of the infidel that is Rockepeller and Cranico. Then we will dispose of the Alkharanian Tiamian whore that is Adriana and her infidel mistress Lucille. Southern Alkharania will be free, soon once more independent from the tyrants of the U.E and the Triad, Islam will reign supreme all over Sondria and Allah will be your guide to heaven. Allah Akbar" The video would then end with Nasheed music coming on and the banner of Al Hafa being displayed.

City of Bozbuk, Three Hours Into Invasion

MARQUESAN FOB, NORTH ALKHARANIAN REPUBLIC: Black smoke rises from the east, casting the entire forward military base in an eerie shadow; the ground itself continues to shake as artillery and air strikes continue to relentlessly pound the Mahdavian military into what appears to be a headlong retreat further inland. The initial invasion has not gone on for even a full day, and yet the heavy stench of death and decay penetrates the air, even almost 50 miles from the Mahdavian border. The initial Marquesan air strike into the heart of the Imperial Emirate, followed up with the absolutely massive ground assault shortly after, can be called nothing else short of devastating, and on a scale beyond what Sondria witnessed during the Newcastle War.

Even from the forward operating base, the constant scream of jet engines makes it clear that Marquesan has a clear supremacy of the skies along the western border; although the Mahdavian military made an attempt to directly attack this camp through an aerial bombardment, Marquesan AA and Warden fire easily drove back the attempt, and appeared to inflict heavy casualties on the attackers. All indications given to us by senior military personnel have made it clear that the invasion, the largest ever undertaken in Sondrian history, has gone according to plan thus far, and casualties remain relatively light even in the face of a determined Mahdavian defense.

Early reports from the front lines of the ongoing battle indicate that forward elements of the Marquesan military are entering the port city of Bozbuk, or what little remains standing of it, and the border city of Pamluk, and are expected to have relative control of both cities within the next day or two. Civilian casualties are expected to be in the thousands, if not tens of thousands, by the time the area is deemed secure. There is certainly a vengeful spirit amongst Marquesan military personnel for the attack on their embassy in the Mahdavian capital city. An interview with one of the commanding officers of a battalion heading towards the front, who has asked to remain anonymous, summed up the feeling of the entire operation. "Your own national motto is 'Honor Dictates Action.' It's the same for us. When the Mahdavians decided to launch an operation on our embassy, this is what they should have expected."

As of now, the Marquesan military has denied us access into the city of Bozbuk, citing safety concerns amidst ongoing reports of street fighting. We hope to receive permission within the day to embed ourselves with a security unit and capture more images and reports of the ongoing conflict. Until then, we will update from the FOB as the war progresses.

The legend takes the Federal Cup for the twelfth consecutive time!

PIRAEUS, NEW SOUTH ATTICA: The legend has taken the Federal Cup from the match favorite Laconia FC, representing the Lacedaemonian State, in Kokkinia KCT yesterday evening at Eustratiades Stadium. Olympiacos Aetochoras FC has defeated the favorite for this match in a spectacular manner, which was heated and was difficult to win, given the extraordinary 7-6 score.

"It was extremely difficult to win this match," said Kostas Mitroglou, the team's captain, "but we did our best and were rewarded for it."

Olympiacos Aetochoras, despite exceptional victories in the New South Attica Cup and in the matches thus far, started off disappointingly poor in the first half, having scored only two goals (Salvis 15', Mitropanos 37') while the Laconians scored four (Vassiliades 23', Olorou 36', Sassanides 40' and 44' through a penalty). Determined to win in the second half, the legend scored three goals in rapid succession (Mitroglou 51', Mitropanos 58', Liaros 67') but Vasiliades' penalty goal at 82' acted as the equaliser.

The final score was delivered in the 90' mark by Mitroglou himself, through a long shoot 15 metres from the goalpost which demonstrated his spectacular ability to score goals. Although 5 extra minutes were given, the Laconians failed to score any more goals and lost the match after a spectacular save by goalkeeper Karagounides from an attempt by Leonidopoulos in the last moment.

During the match, Olympiacos suffered one casualty in the 62' mark, Asimiades, from a tackle by Olorou that resulted in an ankle sprain. He was replaced by Liaros, who had suffered from a fever 10 hours prior. His dynamism helped Olympiacos take the lead with a goal five minutes later. Olorou received a yellow card which then led to a red when he did the same tackle on Liaros, this time. Liaros escaped, however, unscathed.

The remarkable success of the Legend paves the way for the team's participation in inter-Sondrian championships, where he feels confident of his success. "We are not afraid of anything." said the manager of the team Alexandros Marinakis. "They should be afraid of us. We are coming for them." Olympiacos Aetochoras, aka. Olympiacos, is the Eagleland's most successful football club, having secured the Federal Cup 12 consecutive times and the NSA Superleague 9 times.

It's arch rival, Panathinaikos of Athens, NSA, has been defeated in 20 of all 22 matches played against Olympiacos; the latest match, the NSA Superleague finals, ended in 11-0 for Olympiacos, which was the worst defeat in Panathinaikos' history. Olympiacos Aetochoras was originally known as Olympiacos Piraeus, but since it's first Federal Cup victory in 2002 it has been renamed as a symbol of the fact that Olympiacos' is the Eagleland's supreme football club.

Iohannian Government Releases First Public Statement in Several Years,
Claims Rephite Territory is "Historically Iohannian Land"

In a rare public appearance by the Iohannes Primus, his first since the Aleonican invasion several years ago, the leader of the Iohannian Government laid claim to a large chunk of Rephite land, commonly known to its inhabitants as Ektasli, as well as portions of the the desert region of Leshewr Balwedh.

"We have received a number of petitions from those of Iohannian descent, as well as the native inhabitants of the land, asking for Iohannian aid and support during these trying times. While our nation generally does not deal with international affairs, we must stress that this is not Rephite land. This is land that Rephesus unlawfully invaded, and land that the residents wish to see belong to the great nation of Iohann. We feel that reclaiming this land should be of utmost import, not only to ourselves, but to the rest of Aerus."

While some believe that this comes in response to an increased Iohannian demand for oil, as well as increased trade routes with the rest of Aerus, the Primus firmly denies those allegations, instead stating that retaking the land should be done first and foremost for humanitarian reasons. Many dissenters in the Iohannian military, however, feel that this action is muscle-flexing, looking to shake the rust out of a government and military that has been increasingly isolationist since the civil war that drove the country apart and left the Primus without his trigger finger. According to sources within the Iohannian goverment, however, this is the first that anyone outside the Council of Generals has heard of these plans, and Rephite officials could not be immediately reached for comment.

Nobody can deny, however, that if this land is claimed by Iohann, that it would be a major windfall for the automotive and electronics industries, with increased oil and other valuable metals hiding in this resource-rich territory. A recent deal with the Marqesian government for the right to produce MTD weaponry, as well as increased communication with Lyran officials, could indicate that Iohann is looking to start becoming a major economic player within Sondria, and this may be the first step towards the formerly quiet and small nation becoming a player in the worldwide marketplace.

Director announces 'undivided support' for the Iohannes Primus

Last night, in the city of Devon, the Director and High General, Markus Deusaeuri, delivered a speech in response to the aggressive Iohannian claims on western Rephesus, primarily Ektasli and Leshawahr Balwedh. The crowd was estimated to be over 20,000 people, which is quite incredible for the fairly small square, and hastily planned nature of the speech. The Director did not even write a speech in advance, and delivered it all on the fly. Despite this, it is being hailed as logical, influential, and well "written," as is to be expected from all material delivered by the Director. The speech itself was quite positive towards the claims. An excerpt of it is included below.

"...and we can relate these to our own history. Under the rule of the Directory, we have made great advances in uniting our fallen race. We were forced to unite ourselves through force. While unfortunate, we have come out stronger than ever before, thanks to our allies who helped us along the way. And now we are in a new position. A broken race needs our help in united themselves, after being faced with repression and disunity imposed by foreign, misguided aggressors. It is only logical that I say that we support the Iohannian government and the people it represents, no matter how far away, in their endeavor to unite themselves, and stop the mistreatment they face from Rephesus. If we did not, I would be a hypocrite. This is a title I refuse to put upon myself, and my country."

As implied by the speech, the Deusaeurian military and government have promoted relations with Iohann. From Iohann, it is being reported that the Deusaeurian embassy has expanded, and quickly bought out nearby buildings, and it has turned into an entire compound hosting a rapidly increasing number of employees.

BREAKING: ARDYR to remain in Rephesus.
The latest proposals to reduce the size of ARDYR have been scrapped by the Federal Government.

The Eagleland Federal Senate have approved unanimously that ARDYR will remain in Rephesus, with additional reinforcements under consideration.

Kokkinia, Kokkinia Capital Territory — Planned proposals by the Senate to achieve a reduction of ARDYR forces from 500,000 to 150,000 soldiers have been rejected by the Federal Government earlier today, sources from the Ministry of National Defence state. The decision came after the state of Iohann launched new territorial claims on Rephesus, which have been rejected by Rephite academics as ludicrous. Furthermore, plans to increase the size of ARDYR from five hundred thousand to over a million personnel have been unveiled by the Ministry of National Defence, for approval by the Rephite Government.

ARDYR, the latinised abbreviation for Aetochorikes Dynameis Rifesou (Eagleland Forces Rephesus), is the name of the Eaglelander military contigent in the Incorporated States of Rephesus, unveiled during the Hitadijan conflict and taking part in limited operations in support of the Rephite military. However, despite the fact that a proposed reduction in it's strength from 500,000 to 150,000 personnel was planned for July, this is cancelled in view of the Iohanni claims and the increasingly high Sondrian support for those claims.

The Iohannian Government have recently released their first Sondrian statement in several years, claiming that parts of Rephite territory are "Historically Iohannian Land". It's leader, Iohannes Primus, stated that Ektasli lands and parts of the Leshewr Balwedh region belong to the Iohannian state. As quoted from his speech, "We have received a number of petitions from those of Iohannian descent, as well as the native inhabitants of the land, asking for Iohannian aid and support during these trying times".

He also stated that the land that now belongs to Rephesus "is land that Rephesus unlawfully invaded, and land that the residents wish to see belong to the great nation of Iohann".

The Eagleland Federal Government have condemned the claims, as President Deligiannis stated in his speech before the Senate earlier today that: "The Iohannian Government have made claims for territory that does not belong to them, as Ektasli now belongs to our fellow Rephite brothers and those of Iohannian descent are not numerous enough to classify as a majority in the region." He also added, "if approved by the Rephite Government, assuming they behave rationally, Eaglelander forces in Rephesus under the ARDYR banner shall increase twofold for the purposes of their own national security. We cannot afford to lose more Hellenes in those trying times."

Additionally, the Eagleland is alarmed at the support for those claims by the state of Deusaeuri. "The Deusaeuri state are aggravating their current state of affairs. Their support for those ludicrous Iohanni claims illustrates the dictatorship's perverted stance regarding foreign affairs", stated the President in his speech. "We are willing to condemn anyone who claims that those lands in question are not Rephite. However, we urge everyone to maintain a rational stance during this ridiculous breach of Sondrian peace, hard earned with the blood of millions of people. War over such ludicrous territorial claims is childish."

If the troop surge is approved by the Rephite Government, a deployment of five hundred thousand personnel is to take commence within 48 hours of it's approval, sources state. However, the exact location of the new ARDYR forces remains classified, and sources from both the National Defence General Staff and the Ministry of National Defence could not be reached for an interview.

OPINION: Marquesan: The real leader of the Triad?
Dr. Ioannis Anastasiou, pHD., explains why Crontor is not the real leader of the Triad.

Dr. Ioannis Anastasiou, pHD., International Relations, University of Kokkinia and current Military University of Sparta professor (Foreign Relations), talked to ENT about who is really in charge of the Triad.

Thycidides, the man behind the most astonishing history book mankind has ever seen, "History", wrote it in view of the fact that mankind does not change. Human nature in it's essence has been, is, and forever will be constant and unaltered; interests will always lead to wars and wars will always lead to disaster for the losing side and triumph for the winners. Besides, history only remembers the victor, as even the people themselves forget the wars they have lost. He wrote his book as a means by which future generations would avoid war by detecting it's signs before such a thing materialises. Alas, Sondrian geopolitics have always been volatile and active, and despite the fact that this book was written two and a half centuries ago, mankind never learns from it's mistakes, which is now evident in our days.

Several years ago, the Marquesan Shogunate launched a pre-emptive strike on the Imperial Federation of Crontor, leading to the Newcastle War, which then expanded into other nations. Despite heroic efforts on the part of Crontorian Forces, the Marquesan Shogunate's Royal Armed Forces at Arms utilised a strategic weapon which emitted an Electromagnetic Pulse (EMP) that crippled the Imperial Federation's critical security infrastructure, which led to a defeat of the Crontorian Armed Forces. However, the Marquesan Shogunate have not attacked the city of Vienna, the capital of the Imperial Federation, and through a peace agreement the Crontorian nation began to rebuild itself from the ashes, achieving immense growth from it's previous, impoverished state.

Since then, the geopolitical world changed. Wars erupted across Sondria. Alkharania was colonised by Crontor and Deusaeuri, as are the Varis islands by the latter. Rephesus annexed Hitadija and Ektasli, which are now disputed territory by the nation of Iohann. The Alkharanian and Aquilinian Empire merged into the United Empire, but the single most important entity in Sondria is the so-called "Triad", made up of the Elder Republic of Erjunhuf, the Marquesan Shogunate and the Imperial Federation of Crontor. The Triad's collective efforts are first illustrated in the Marquesan invasion of Mahdah, in which Erjunhite and Crontorian Forces have now joined. This event clearly illustrates the Triad's willingness to engage in common conflicts, already integrated through a common monetary union.

However, a question that is repeatedly raised among academics, geopolitical advisers, generals and politicians across Sondria is who really governs the Triad. The governor, that many falsely think is the Imperial Federation, is anything but the most obvious of opinions. Why is that? It is because the Imperial Federation is the paper dragon of the Triad. Individually, they would face immense difficulties; economically, they are weaker than the Alkharanian Empire, even more so the augmented United Empire. They may possess the military might, but certainly they do not possess the economic strength to act as the hegemon of Sondria. Their power is reliant on that of their other two member states; Erjunhuf and Marquesan.

Erjunhuf is economically the most powerful nation in the Triad. A trading nation famous for it's robust financial industry, Erjunhuf's GDP is far larger than that of the Imperial Federation, it's military being far more technologically advanced. It's economic strength is the key to the Triad's survival; their GDP alone is enough to somewhat "bridge" the gap between the Crontorian and Eaglelander GDP, allowing the Triad to enjoy a larger GDP that that of the Orthodox Federation of the Eagleland. However, the economic strength of Erjunhuf is not enough to make the Triad the most feared coalition in Sondria. It is the real leader of the Triad that makes it so: Marquesan.

The Marquesan Shogunate, to date, are the only entity that have, in the twenty-first century, defeated the Imperial Federation of Crontor and possess some of the finest armed forces in the region. Their influence in Sondrian politics, however, as well as within the Triad itself, are what makes them more feared in diplomacy. Their ability to control the region's geopolitics is evident when recently war scenarios between the United Empire and the Imperial Federation were scrapped thanks to a resounding "No" from the Marquesan Shogunate. Eager not to find themselves in a geopolitical mess, the Imperial Federation of Crontor eased tensions and thus prevented a major Sondrian war from happening anytime soon. Combined with their high level of productivity, military expertise, and ties to the Kylarnatian Imperium, the Marquesan Shogunate have the biggest say in collective decisions within the Triad.

Hence, for all it's publicity, the Imperial Federation do not really command the Triad; it's the Marquesan Shogunate that truly reign over it. Hence, the Imperial Federation of Crontor can only go as far as the Marquesan Shogunate will allow them to.

First Fleet on exercise "Periclean Defence 2014".
The Ministry of National Defence confirm that the first fleet has been mobilised for an exercise.

Hellada, New South Attica — 24 hours ago, the First Fleet set off from it's station at Naval Station New Greece Bay, with a Marine Forces contingent of 10,000, for an exercise in the Periclean Ocean, named "Periclean Defence 2014". The first one of it's kind this year, it is designed to test capabilities in a multitude of missions, which entail conventional and counter-piracy operations, as well as an amphibious assault exercise on Wellington Atoll, which is defended by a fictitious military force hostile to the Eagleland. Retired Maritime National Guard vessels will act as the naval forces for that nation, while pirate attacks will take place near Ayios Nikolaos island, for realism purposes.

Furthermore, much of the contingent of 10,000 Marines who will take part in this exercise, will launch an amphibious invasion of the island of Ayios Nikolaos, in a simulated exercise in rural and in some designated urban areas that will be temporarily closed to the public for security concerns. This invasion simulates the re-acquisition of an island taken over by a hostile entity, testing the Eagleland Military's capacity to regain any lost lands. Finally, a civil insurrection exercise will take place immediately after the takeover of the island, in a different scenario testing the Marine Forces' cool under fire.

"This really is a chance for us to gauge our capacity to defend our territorial sovereignty.", said Admiral Maria Matselou, Inspector-General of the Eagleland Navy. "Inspecting our capabilities at sea is very different than inspecting them on land, and I can assure you that the results will be highly satisfactory given our high level of operational readiness."

However, the Ronesian Government recently released a statement regarding an Eaglelander "invasion" of Ronesia. Their fears stem from the fact that this exercise takes place within an area 70 nautical miles from the Exclusive Economic Zone of the Republic of Ronesia. Although the Ministry of National Defence could not be reached for this event, a statement was released regarding these accusations. "", reads the statement, "is oriented towards assessing Eagleland Maritime Forces in situations regarding conventional warfare and piracy. It is a multi-faceted exercise geared at probing our defensive and offensive capabilities against fictitious entities and situations. The fact that they take place very close to their lands is something that we understand and we can guarantee that no invasion will take place without unnecessary provocation by their respective defensive organisations."

Following days of negotiations, the Progressive Conservatives has reached a deal with its partners to form a right-wing coalition government. The announcement comes a two weeks after the elections produced no majority or minority governments in the Consei-Estadi and the Consei-Senati. The Lord High Chancellor of the Consei-Estadi, Petro Calroni is seen shaking hands with the leaders of the new coalition government. Calroni also selected the leader of the far-right Patriotic People's Party Leader Andreii Estevek as the Deputy High Chancellor of the Consei-Estadi. The recent appointment of Estevek raised concerns among the left wing parties and of the Royal Diarchs. Calroni dismissed these concerns, stating that the far-right party agreed to support the coalition until the next election.

The Leader of the Social Democrats and of the Opposition Dani Stone criticized the coalition, saying that the formation of a coalition was undemocratic and goes against what the people voted for. She also added that a new elections must be called in order to create a new majority. The sudden rise of the far-right nationalist party from the 8th to the 3rd largest party in the Consei-Estadi has also raised major concerns for the opposition. Political commentators has suggested the recent trend of nationalistic sentiments could be the result of the continuing decline of the Empire's economy and rising immigration from Sondria and the World.

The Progressive-Conservatives are expected to table their first National Budget for their term following the speech from the Thrones. The budget is would be the controversial among the right-wingers as the most expensive budget in the Empire's History. Tabled by long-serving Progressive Conservative Finance Minister Terrance Lanci-Tyrell, the budget is expected to pump a 178 billion bailout into the failing sectors of the economy. With this new budget, the national deficit is expected to rise to 17 trillion Krona. Lancie-Tyrell is also planning to balance the books by the end of the crisis, who already started to draft a new budget. The stimulus packages are expected to be included in the first National Budget.

In a joint-conference in Vienna, President Christian Cranico of Crontor and Foreign Affairs Minister Olberti Sevansencu announces that the Crontorian FARECOM now has a new base in Luminaa Island. A move supported by nearly all parties, with the exception of the Social Democrats, the deal was reached three weeks before the start of the election campaign. Following the closure of bases of Crontorian military in the territories of the United Empire, FARECOM was moved to Fort Bahren, the country's easternmost military installation. With a new base established in Luminaa, the Crontorian Armed Forces now has a new foothold in Telraina.

The main opposition in the Consei-Estadi, the Social Democratic Alliance condemned the move by the incumbent Progressive Conservatives. "What we have here is a party that is willing to prostitute themselves to the Old Worlders." a notable anti-Old World herself, Opposition Leader Dani Stone further criticized the Crontorian foreign policy, calling it imperialist and threatens the sovereignty of the Empire in Sondria.

Seventy-two ships from the Crontorian Navy is also given to the Imperial Navy. According to First Sea Lord Tony Ceausescu, reserve forces has been re-assigned to man the ships. The new ships from Crontor would be distributed to the Navy's twenty fleets. Included in the deal is the limit in which the Crontorian FARECOM is allowed to deploy in the base. The Imperial Government allowed Crontor to deploy 190,000 personnel in Luminaa Island in order to match the IGSDF personnel deployed in the island.

The commander of Luminaa Naval Command, Admiral Vera Lederberg and Chief of Defence General Claus Rivkin is expected to meet their Crontorian counterparts tomorrow when the FARECOM arrives in Luminaa.

Telrainan Powers Hold Trilateral Summit; Conduct Joint Naval Maneuvers

Maritime security units from all three nations took part in Operation Allied Resolve.

Tumatauenga Pa, Onekawa-Nukanoa- Earlier today, the defense ministers of three key Telrainan powers; the Ngati Onekawa Nukanoa, the Sovereign Empire of Gristol-Serkonos, and the Imperial Federation convened in the scenic Onekawan city of Tumatauenga Pa in a trilateral summit to discuss relevant and pertinent security matters relevant to all three powers. The meeting is being considered a historic summit, as typically frosty relations between the Imperial Federation and the Ngati Onekawa Nukanoa have long tarnished hopes of cooperation between the powers. Having signed a recent defense agreement with the Sovereign Empire along with the relocation of Crontorian Far East Command and the coming visit of President Cranico to the continent, the Imperial Federation is showing increasing interest in a continent long thought far beyond the parameters of regional attention.

Meeting today, Crontorian Minister of Defense Donald Ardal, the Honorable Martin Gustavsson of the Sovereign Empire, and the Onekawan Defense Minister Kōmaru Hau, spoke about topics ranging from the Onekawan offensive into Paraksani, the rise of regional terrorism, maritime security, and stopping regional crime. All three ministers stressed the close ties that had been fostered between the three nations and pledged to work cooperatively in the future. Concurrently, naval forces of all three nations were carrying out joint naval maneuvers in the Pakanga Ocean.

Elements of the Crontorian Federal Maritime Guard, Far Eastern Command, the Onekawan Thirty-Second Grand Fleet, and 17th Imperial Fleet of the Sovereign Empire joined together in what the Crontorian Ministry of Defense dubbed Operation Allied Resolve. The three navies practiced maritime interdiction, boarding practices, and ship interception. All the while, marines and sailors from all three navies worked hand in hand, carrying out tasks handed out by Joint Maritime Command based at Luminaa, where the Onekawans were hosted by the Imperial Federation and Sovereign Empire who jointly occupy the island.

Minister of Defense Ardal, having only been recently nominated and confirmed by the Imperial Congress, made sure to make his first trip abroad a memorable one. Speaking at length about Crontorian defense policy, Ardal praised his colleagues in Onekawa-Nukanoa and the Sovereign Empire for their commitment to Sondrian security. He also took the opportunity to affirm Crontorian commitment to their defense, both in Telraina and abroad. With the stationing of Federal Maritime Guard units at FARECOM headquarters in the Sovereign Empire, Minister Ardal explained that the mission of Far East Command was one of peace and security, not one of imperialism or conquest.

“I don’t want people to get the wrong idea about our intentions in Telraina,” explain Minister Ardal to the press alongside his colleagues, “the Imperial Federation is not in Telraina as an empire, a conquering power, or a power hungry superpower. We are here because we are concerned about maritime peace and security, something that is incredibly vital to all Sondrian nations. Our trade and continued prosperity relies on ensuring free lanes of trade on all of our oceans and we look forward to working with our partners in the area to ensure that the seas are safe and secure for all Sondrian nations.”

This sentiment has been echoed by other Crontorian leaders. Speaking last week to the CBC, President Cranico voiced his strong support for Crontorian allies in Telraina, noting that, “We need to expand and continue our cooperation with nations all around Sondria and this includes our allies in Telraina. The decision to relocate FARECOM and orient our forces towards a maritime security role just goes to show our commitment to Sondrian security. The Imperial Federation has also instructed our representative to the Sondrian Regional Council to call upon the body to discuss a coordinated approach using the Sondrian Defense Force to secure our shared regional waters.”

The three defence ministers from the Imperial Federation of Crontor, the Ngati Onekawa-Nukanoa, and the Sovereign Empire of Gristol-Serkonos met in a high level trilateral security summit in Tumatauenga Pa, a scenic city in the Ngati Onekawa-Nukanoa. Minister Gustavsson met with Crontorian Defence Minister Donald Ardal and Onekawan Defense Minister Kōmaru Hau. It is also the second regional summit in which the Sovereign Empire attended, following the signing of the foreign bases agreement between the Imperial Federation and Gristol-Serkonos in Luminaa island. Rien-Stadt was initially chosen to host to summit, but was cancelled due to security concerns following the rise of terror attacks in the Crown Land of Vâlcea.

Being the only New World nation in the summit, Gustavsson spoke to the press before the summit, expressing concern for the other nations who were not invited.

"While the Imperial Federation establishing a base in Luminaa is welcomed by most nations in Telraina, I still feel we need to include these other nations in the summit." he said. "But I have spoken with the other defence ministers in Telraina beforehand and assured that the Empire will voice their concerns."

His sentiments were also shared by the Imperial Diarchs and the Lord High Chancellor Petro Calroni, both of them wanting greater representation of Telranian states in the summit.

The Crontorian Minister of Defence Donald Ardal addressed the press at great length following the summit, commending his fellow defence ministers and their nations for their commitments to regional security. He also defended the Crontorian Foreign Policy in the Sovereign Empire, following Opposition Leader Dani Stone's scathing accusation, calling the foreign nation as being an imperialist and a threat to the sovereignty of the Empire and of all Telranian states.

The Chief of Defence spokesperson has stated that the navy's contributions to the exercises is a clear message that the Empire is capable of cooperating with allied nations and handling threats both regional and outside Sondria. The 17th Imperial Fleet of Gristol-Serkonos, led by Admiral Vera Lederberg, commander of the Luminaa Naval Command, joined the elements of Crontorian Federal Maritime Guard, the Far Eastern Command, and the Onekawan Thirty-Second Grand Fleet in the Pakanga Ocean. Both the Luminaa Naval Command and the Crontorian FARECOM hosted the Onekawan Naval Command in Luminaa, where they gave orders to fleets from there.

The three navies practiced various military exercises, including maritime interdiction, boarding, and ship interdiction. It is also the last action for the last battleship of the Imperial Navy, the IGSNV Divine Retribution, before its decommissioning ceremony next month.

Empress Announces Increased Naval Patrols in the Pakanga Ocean-Telrainan Coast

Aleniako, Tiami- Earlier this month, the Alkharanian Empress Adriana vied for an increased presence in the Telrainain waters and the Pakanga ocean due to the influx of smuggling and the concurrence of pirating. Earlier this morning, Adriana made headlines when she announced that the Empyrean Court unanimously approved the relocated of the Seventh and Twelfth Maritime fleets to the warm waters of the Pakanga ocean. The approval may have been convened as a result of the recent meeting of two Telrainan powers whom met with the Imperial Federation to discuss Telrainan peace and further carry out joint naval maneuvers in the adjacent ocean.

The Empress has shown great concern for Telraina, especially for the Empire's claim there, the second most populous area of the nation, and a haven for tourist during the Spring and Summer months. The economically important area would develop further from the lack of pirating and other dangers on the Pakanga ocean. Needless to say, the United Empires as a whole has expressed significant interest in further formulating a defensive plan with other Telrainan nations as a means to deter nations from interfering with the abundant trade going on in the New World. The UE is expected to call for a meeting later in the week.

All this comes at a time when United Empire-Crontorian relations have deteriorated rapidly, as evident by the ongoing border crisis. War has been cited, but with the United Empire's desire to keep things collectively cogent and peaceful, diplomatic ventures are not yet out of the question. It can be safely assumed that the UE will vie for a conference meeting with the Crontorian President Cranico and it's Supreme Commander Rockepeller; or, if the crisis worsens, the UE will demand the Sondrian Regional Council to convene and hopefully help resolve the issue. For now, the UE maintains it's 'Diplomacy before Guns' approach in hopes that war does not ensue, as such a war would be enormously expensive and costly in human lives. It is in the best interest of both nations to stay cogent and discuss a diplomat resolution to minimize damages and repair shattered relations.

UPDATE: 34 Dead, 190 Wounded following terror attacks in Rien-Stadt.

A single vehicle containing explosives was used in the historic Laurenne District in Rien-Stadt.

The death toll rises from 10 to 34 as the search for survivors following a terrorist attack in the Laurenne District in Rien-Stadt. The greater Rien-Stadt metropolitan area has been locked down by the Imperial Gendarmes, supported by the troops from the IGSDF Central Command. Among the dead was IMI-5 Director Steven Raymond, who was killed along with his secretary as the entered the building. The separatist group Vâlceanti Libertii has claimed responsibility for the attack. The attack also postponed the plans for the upcoming anniversary of the Empire's Victory in the Red Revolution. According to a government official, the Lord High Chancellor, his government cabinet as well as the Imperial Diarchy and their families has been moved to a secure location.

Sondri.Alert, the regional news organization notorious for its publication of classified documents, reported that key diplomatic channels has also been breached by unknown sources. The diplomatic logs indicate Crontorian interest to assist the Imperial Government to crush the insurgency in the troubled Crown Land of Vâlcea. With an ear-splitting thunderclap and a flash of brilliant blue light, a new spacecraft took flight this morning. A joint project of the three Triad Pact nations but designed and built here in The Marquesas by a coalition of engineers and physicists, the Assisted Launch Vehicle, or simply ALV, has been taking shape as a replacement for the previous generation Assisted Launch Orbiter. At the heart of the new bird is a nuclear heart, replacing conventionally-fueled Scramjet engines. The new ALV is a much larger, much more powerful launch vehicle which, in its first flight to space this morning, validated more than a decade of research being performed largely in secret by the Experimental Science team at Myrmidon Tactical Design.

The first leg of the ALV's journey began deep underground, where a tunnel that, we are told is 1,500 kilometers long, kept completely airless, houses a special kind of monorail track. The brave crew of the ALV, strapped into their seats and ready for launch, with a fully-fueled nuclear rocket at their backs sat in a dark airlock, sealed off from the outside world while all the air is sucked out of the massive chamber. Once at a vacuum, a door slid open, revealing a smooth track that stretches off into the distance. Pulled forward by magnetic force, the ALV began its journey, accelerating along a monorail track in silence, deep underground. The journey took almost three minutes as the ALV and its crew accelerate at five times the force of gravity, steadily climbing in altitude. At six and a half times the speed of sound and fifteen hundred kilometers later, a final door opened into the morning light, releasing the ALV out into the sunrise like a bullet from the barrel of a gun.

The tunnel terminates near the summit of Cho Oyu mountain, in the middle of a sheer face of snow covered granite. At 8,500 meters above sea level, the air is thinner and doesn't put so much pressure on the vehicle, making it easier to fly into space. Immediately, the crew sprung into action, releasing hydrogen gas into the hot nuclear reactor, cooling the reactor and heating the gas to incredible temperatures. Once it exits the reactor, the gas is turned into plasma by a special engine the scientists call VASIMR, turning the superheated gas into plasma at more than a million degrees before forcing it out of the back of the ALV. The ALV's nuclear engine was like another sun in the morning sky when it lit, coloring the entire mountainside blue with its light. The incredible thrust of the nuclear rocket engine pushed the ALV skyward like a bolt of lightning this morning, with ignition occurring at 6:45 AM. Its crew of eight Marquesan, Crontorian and Erjunhite adventurers flew into the pages of history as their brand new craft slipped away from our atmosphere and into the cold airless void of space.

Their mission will last ten days, in which all the systems of the ALV will be run in and tested thoroughly in space. Next week, the ALV crew will return to The Marquesas as heroes, flying the ALV like an airplane to a landing here in the Pleiku hillcountry after re-entering the atmosphere traveling an estimated 28,000 meters per second. If the mission is a success, it will represent a monumental feat of engineering and the dawning of a new age of routine and affordable spaceflight, beginning right here in Sondria. CARTHAGE, ERJUNHUF: Citing longstanding concerns about piracy and the general lack of security in the Melegean Channel as a result of deteriorating relations between the Triad and the United Empire, both the House of the Senate and the House of the People voted almost unanimously to formally declare the channel as sovereign Erjunhite waters earlier this afternoon. In addition to the official claims of sovereignty, the act will also prevent non-allied military vessels from entering the channel without first securing permission from GAER Southern Command in Beaumont, which in essence will create a strategic buffer zone from western Artzua all the way to the Great Northern Ocean. While it was expected that the Elder Republic would initiate some sort of measure to protect itself, nobody could have predicted the extent to which this mandate would extend. Politicians and representatives were quick to assert that this measure would not affect regional trade, but rather serve to bolster the safety of the Melegean Channel shipping lane, one of the largest in the region.

"Our neighbors have unfortunately shown that they are unable or unwilling to bear the burden of properly helping to defend this vital waterway." Prime Minister Keller commented to reporters after the measure was passed into law. "With no word yet on when the Aquilinian referendum will be conducted - or even if it ever will be conducted - and with a very large gap of trust as a result, the Elder Republic must take the initiative in securing the Channel, and as this vote has proven, we are more than willing to do our part. We will continue to ensure that shipping continues unabated and in greater security under our protection." When asked if this vote had been taken in retaliation for either the continued lack of an Aquilinian referendum for the restoration of their own parliamentary body or perhaps as a punitive measure against the recent announcement by the United Empire to begin patrolling Telranian waters, Keller responded by stating that "...while we of course press the Aquilinian government to begin their referendum in earnest, this is solely a measure taken to ensure our own security in the wake of recent events between our allies and the United Empire, as well as to ensure the sanctity of trade routes and shipping throughout the greater Sondrian region."

The Melegean Channel acts as one of the region's main shipping lanes, connecting northern and western Sondria with one another along the coastlines of some of the regions wealthiest nations, and will undoubtedly draw an international response, as this is the first time a measure such as this has ever been legally voted on and approved by a national government in regional history. Whether this will impact the ongoing Telranian border crisis between Crontor and the United Empire remains to be seen.

In a speech this morning, Shōgun Akane Hyuga reaffirmed Marquesan support for the Erjunhite decision to claim the Melegean Channel. The Elder Republic has been locked in a fierce battle for some years against shipping piracy in the Channel between the Kingdom of Artzua, the Empire of Aquilinia and the Melegean continent. In recent years, the dissolution of the Aquilinian Senate and the personal alliance of the Empire to the Alkharanian Republic of Tiami has caused strained relations between Triad states and the newly-formed United Empire. The United Empire's souring diplomacy with the Triad and the Aquilinians apparent unwillingness to defend the channel against piracy resulted recently in the loss of two Erjunhite-flagged cargo ships and a Marquesan-flagged civilian cruise ship within three weeks, prompting a military response by the Triad. Shōgun Hyuga last week deployed two squadrons of Type-21 "Divine Wind" fighters to the channel, issuing a stern warning to those who would seek to disrupt and terrorize shipping through the strategically vital waters.

This morning, Shōgun Hyuga spoke at the Erjunhite Embassy in a press conference with Ambassador Mattias Colvin, during which she was quoted as harshly criticizing the UE's lack of support, saying "Stewardship of Sondrian waters is everyone's duty; we share it, the Crontorians share it, the Erjunhites share it and the rest of our region must also shoulder some of this responsibility. The United Empire has, time and time again, shown they are unwilling to lift a finger to protect anything but their own interests. It is with this in mind that I stand today side by side with my Triad brothers and sisters. Today, piracy in the Melegean Channel ends; I have authorized Marquesan pilots to use force to defend the channel from any incursion; pirate or otherwise. If we cannot share the burden of protection, we will not be obliged to share the benefits of Sondrian waters."

Our sources tell us that RFA fighters stationed in southern Erjunhuf are flying twenty-four hours a day patrolling the waters between the island nation and mainland Hellas. Rumor has it that additional deployments may take place as this latest heating of Triad/UE relations develops in the coming days.

Ranza: "Something is magical in that ocean."

Ranza expresses his concern about the growing
presence of military hardware flocking in several
regional waters since the economic revival.

VILLA QUIRINA, QUIRINALIA - The Curule President of the Great Republic Amadeo Ranza reacts to the ever-growing number of domestic-related conflicts and what he calls "other absurdities happening around the region". While his complaints were merely solvable, he looks forward to mend everything he can through his efforts in maintaining the peace in his own country, despite the fact that the Viktorikans and Augustanicans are up again for some secret plans. "This country has been instituting a free, sovereign, and even liberal mindset in dealing with diversity, but it will never be a reason to forget what our national leaders' responsibilities are."

He also expresses his future plans to cooperate with the incumbent Regional Council to make new proposals and assure honest transactions with the SRC in making the peacekeeping operations, which he quoted, "quite a bit rash and illegal at some parts" since "civilian populace is already damaged with such disturbances", a quick remedy to the instability in the region. He clarified that he is not contesting the major powers, including his own country, of the military operations happening around his borders. In some of the questions he answered, he mentioned that "Aleki might adjust its foreign policies, but warned them not to be too 'free' in creating self-imposed decisions."

"Piracy is a very small issue compared to the atrocities that Quirina had for the past years." He commented about the activities of the pirates at the seas infested of such outlaws. "AFGQR already has proven itself worthy to deter such small pests. We can manage it." He bragged about the naval superiority Quirina projected through its Vicin Bay.

Ranza also stated that the AFGQR will conduct its monthly military exercises at the Vicin Bay. Along with the seven mainland nations are the forty-two sovereign member-nations around the entire world to participate in the exercises. He never disclosed the order of battle that will be presented by the presidents, premiers and viceroys of each nation to "surprise the elements of the 'privat' and 'publis'."

The President also commented on the austerity policy the Viktorikan substates had declared last month, after thorough evaluation of their economic performance, which bear higher ratings before the policy was instituted. "I might intervene in this situation since the Quirinese economy is being pulled down by this implementation. Rest assured that my Magistracy will demand and hear the explanation regarding this matter. For now, most countries are lending aid to the poor conditions of economic socialism they are practicing." He never continued saying more about this matter.
