Super-Llamaland Tigers: Road to Legalese WC68 National Team

Epic Kits from Kirola Sportswear: Image

Godmod injuries to my players N
Hand out yellow cards to my players Y
Hand out red cards to my players N (If you eject more than one player, you have to eject an equal amount of your own players)

TEAM RECAP: In a game that could haunt the Tigers for decades, a certain advancement turned into a nightmare as Kandorith defeated the Tigers 1-0 and advanced on away goals to make the fabled World Cup. Super-Llamaland needs to recover from that game to make the World Cup, armed with a top fifty-one ranking and a new crop of future superstars. Can the Tigers advance to the World Cup? Or will bitter defeat smack them for a second year? It remains to be seen as the Tigers set off on the road to Legalese/Free Republics.

Goalies

Henry McNeal- #1- 23
Eric Matthews- #2- 29
Jared Finch- #3- 26

McNeal: Ex-star goalie on the U-21 squad that placed in the round of sixteen in their first Di Bradini Cup. McNeal allowed seven goals in five games to teams that were probably better, which is pretty good. McNeal is a great blocker with athleticism and work ethic, but he can't hold on to the ball and that could cost him against the world's best.
Matthews: Remember when Matthews was THE youngster to watch at WC 65? The seventeen-year-old phenom whose praises were sung by scouts across the land? Then came the infamous "four-goals-in-ten-freaking-minutes" game, and Matthews's international career went down the tubes. An absentee WC 66 and terrible WC 67 later, he's a backup instead of the star that he was supposed to be about six years ago. He still owns the athleticism and the YouTube-plastered punts, but minor back injuries are not helping the ex-future-star.
Finch: Straight from the B-team, a guy who would've benefited from a Di Bradini cup last cycle. His athleticism is comparable to McNeal, only better, while he's beginning to develop into a star goalie.

Defense

Left Back- Justin Allen - #6 - 27
Center Back- Ryan Reagan - #9 - 24
Center Back- Lou Hanson - #4- 29
Right Back- Derrick Nelson - #5 - 23
Backup- Curtis Appel - #96 - 20
Backup- Karl Benedict - #49 - 32
Backup- Paul Peters - #65 - 22

Allen: Top-notch player on the B team whose athleticism and tackling make up for his total lack of ball movement.
Reagan: Dominant U-21 player graduated early to the B-team. A jack of all trades who could be one of the fastest players in the world.
Hanson: Fantastic improvement in past four years. Hanson is a veritable jack-of-all-trades player whose only real strength is passing and only real weakness is agility.
Nelson: Defensive linchpin, vocal leader, ex-captain of U-21 team, could've easily made it to WC 67 had he not tore an ACL. All-around stud recovered quickly to get back on the U-21 team for "recovery", conveniently leading defensive to the Ro16 in the process.
Appel: Athletic, decent tackler, frustratingly hasn't gotten rid of bad habits in two years since Di Bradini Cup.
Benedict: Ryan Reagan, only slower.
Peters: Brilliant dribbler who can take it to midfield before passing it. Ex-forward who couldn't shoot moves his athleticism and meh tackling skills here (he is a converted striker, rare in the world of Llamanean soccer but more common than you might think)

MIDFIELDERS

Left- Robby Greene- #27- 25
Center- Kyle Sturgeon - #31 - 21
Attacking- Alex Ford - #11 - 22
Right- Jake Wiggins - #5 - 22
Backup- Xavier Platona - #30 - 34
Backup- Alex Cartwright - #88 - 19
Backup- Trevor Duncan (assistant captain)- #17- 37

Greene: Decent playmaker and shooter, really in for above-average defense and athleticism.
Sturgeon: Laid-back playmaker with great speed in short bursts. Three-sport athlete in high school.
Ford: Fantastic shooter, can put a shot on goal from anywhere, crafty with shot placement. Loves attacking, tends to receive passes instead of pass them.
Wiggins: Crafty playmaker, shooting not his specialty but he can okay if needed. Great, athletic passer.
Platona: Ex-World XI player is great shooter from the right end and a powerful playmaker. Recovered from my WC 67 storyline.
Cartwright: The Next Trevor Duncan, although a hyped-up Jared Mullin could be a better comparison. Venomous attacker shattered records by making U-15 team at 11, U-21 team at 15 ,and B-team at 17. Brilliant shooter and passer in the box, long-range needs work.
Duncan: Thirty-seven-year-old, ex-face of Llamanean soccer, barely made team. Still a passing force, although athleticism being sapped by knee injury. Still a great leader and in as assistant captain.

STRIKERS

Left- Peter Masters - #21 - 20
Right- Bobby Crosby (captain)- #43- 33
Backup- Luis Alcanatra- #14- 34
Backup- Jacob Brennaman - #10 - 21

Masters: Attacker, shoot-first striker, introverted, willful, and passionate. Great speed but passing is not in his makeup.
Crosby: Masterful shooter named captain of the team. Taking on big role and expected to mentor the unwilling Masters.
Alcanatra: Team-first striker equally good at passing and shooting. Reasonably athletic, glues the at-times brittle clubhouse chemistry together.
Brennaman: Does all of the little things and also big things as well. Great playmaker in the box. Gets worse progressively as you take him away from the box.

The Dragon Den, Drako City, Nexxus Drako (85,000-seater with 2,800 VIP capacity): The Dragon Den is the biggest stadium in Nexxus Drako, home to the national football team, national grid iron team and national rugby team. although the latter two aren't internationally recognized. In club status it is home to the Drako Dragons football team, the Drako City Dynamite grid iron team and the Drako City Wolves rugby team, although the latter two aren't internationally recognized either. The stadium is very high tech, with lots of creature comforts like drink dispensers, mini screens and music players built into every seat, which is paid for by the higher than average ticket prices, which come with 2 free drinks, a free meal and unlimited music. In the VIP areas, visitors get their own skybox, of which there are 28, all with 100 capacity. They enjoy unlimited drinks, meals, their own butler and a great, unfettered view of the pitch. In transportation, the free public transport system has a station underneath the stadium itself.

Yveltal World Cup 68 Roster

Yveltalians are known only by their government ID number, which is based on hexadecimal code. Yveltal's population is only a tiny 50,000, as many refugees have left, and many others have been sacrificed to the almighty Lord Yveltal, a clone of the ancient Pokemon of destruction from the place formerly known as Kalos. After the Baptism of Fire 55, the entire team was executed.

Squad

Coach: 510A

12 - 29CC

Defenders:

20 - 8BAN - ST

22 - 2CAN - ST

Stadium

Lord Yveltal Stadium (Capacity 15,000 all-seater): Lord Yveltal Stadium is home to the Yveltal NT and is also home of all 8 teams of the recently expanded Lord Yveltal League. It is pracitcally brand new, but rowdy fans have ruined it already. It's maintenance status is poor, and while it isn't quite a deathtrap, you wouldn't really wanna visit here. About the only thing that hasn't been damaged is the home dressing room, which contains state of the art stuff, the international dressing room is dank, decrepit and deadly, whlle the away club dressing room is pretty much the same as the home dressing room. Yveltalians hate outsiders.

Schiavonia announce their squad for World Cup 68

To be honest, there are all kinds of interesting titbits that we could tell you about the Schiavonia squad. But, essentially, it is a list of names. Barring a few, who have other reasons for notoriety, which will be listed here. You can probably get more about the physical attributes and skills of the squad from the positions they play...

A GUIDE TO SCHIAVONE PLAYING POSITIONS

Schiavone football teams generally play in a 4-3-3 formation, but the different positions are not always referred to in normal terms. The goalkeeper (GK) and centre-backs (CB) are as normal, but the rest are not so clear cut.

The left-back (LB) and right-back (RB) are very important in attacking, and generally one attacks down the wing while the other one comes in and covers as a centre back.

Ball winner (MB) is a midfield position that does exactly what you think. They sit in midfield to protect the defence and win the ball back for the team.

A distributor (MD) is a player with very good passing skills, and can switch play or unlock a defence with one pass, but can keep it simple if the situation requires it.

The creator (MC) is a player who runs at defenders with the ball before either shooting or, more often, laying it off for someone else to have an effort on goal. They are good at attracting defenders and so making space for team mates.

The runner (FR) is a player who can run away from defenders and make chances for themselves with this advantage.

The strength (FS) is what most people would call the big man up front.

Finally, the finisher (FF) is a player who has an uncanny knack of being in the right place at the right time to stick the ball into the goal with an uncanny regularity.

So there you have it. A guide to the Schiavone style of playing football. Hope that was helpful.

So who are they? Well...

COACH
Kenny Sanderson VI (age 54)

Kenny is the last in the line of Kenny Sandersons, all of whom have either played for or coached Schiavonia, going back to their international debut at World Cup 26. Kenny's elderly father, Kenny Sanderson V was the catalyst behind Schiavonia's departure from international sport and is now the leader of the nation. Although he gets his grandson Benny to do a lot of the more energetic work for him.

GOALKEEPERS
1) Viliaka O'Connor (Male, Age 22, Jungle Strike FC)

Viliaka is half Vilitan and, as a result, ages noticeably slower than the rest of the squad.

2) Julio Howard (Male, Age 29, Yellow Stars)
Julio Howard is the great-grandson of Chris Howard, who played for a different one-cup non-RPing newbie in every World Cup between World Cups 38 and 48, representing no less than thirteen different nations in his extensive career. Julio is very much a Schiavonia boy, though.

3) Jonny Lewis (Male, Age 23, Monarchs)
Jonny is also representing Schiavonia in the Skeleton at the Winter Olympics. Mainly because he's tall and skinny and, thus, looks like one.

DEFENDERS
CENTRE BACKS
11) Kim Jones (Female, Age 26, Monarchs)
12) Vanessa Lyku (Female, Age 23, Yellow Stars)

Vanessa Lyku is the second generation offspring of a Schiavone and a Rejistanian, from when Schiavonia was roaming the world. Being from karelan blood means that Vanessa is a natural choice in defence.
13) Rebecca Sallad (Female, Age 20, Yellow Stars)
Rebecca was the outcome of a dalliance between a Schiavone and a Jerusalemite at World Cup 63.
14) Boris Winston (Male, Age 29, Monarchs)

LEFT BACKS
15) Lenny Tilda (Male, Age 30, Yellow Stars)
17) Dylan Bell (Male, Age 32, Monarchs)

RIGHT BACKS
16) Oliver Berry (Male, Age 33, Monarchs)
18) John-Paul Jones (Male, Age 21, Yellow Stars)

John-Paul is part Audioslavian and is representing Schiavonia at Biathlon at the Arçon Winter Olympics. But that is only because Benny Sanderson believed that it was cycling and long-distance running.

MIDFIELDERS
BALL WINNERS
21) Tony Cueto (Male, Age 30, Yellow Stars [Captain])

Tony is a member of the Cueto family who used to lead Schiavonia. This role is done alongside the Sandersons now.
24) Kerry Jones (Female, Age 22, Monarchs)
Kerry is also on the Winter Olympic roster for Biathlon. Because the SOA thought that it was cycling and running.

DISTRIBUTORS
22) Benny Sanderson (Male, Age 24, Monarchs [Vice-Captain])

Benny is the guy that gets stuff done for his grandfather, although he does seem to think he runs Schiavonia sometimes. To be fair, he's not too bad at it.
25) Emma Trevor (Female, Age 27, Yellow Stars)
Emma has Druidan ancestry.

CREATORS
23) Johnny Jones (Male, Age 22, Monarchs)

Johnny is not the brightest - seen when trying to find Garundia when on a boat moored there.
26) Nicolau de Perreira Tarmey (Male, 26, Yellow Stars)
Of Schiavone / Cafundelese descent. Many Schiavones were left in Cafundéu when their nation vanished during World Cup 37. Not all of them were found, but since the same thing happened to their new homeland, one family found Schiavonia again.

FORWARDS
RUNNERS
31) John Blige (Male, Age 20, Monarchs)
34) Alexa Leau (Female, Age 27, Yellow Stars)

STRENGTHS
32) Conrad Hogan (Male, Age 22, Monarchs)
35) Bjørn-Morten Tomasson (Male, Age 28, Yellow Stars)

Bjørn-Morten is part Vanorian, but from the human part of Valanora.

FINISHERS
33) Charlotte Chester (Female, Age 23, Yellow Stars)
36) Aimee Bell (Female, Age 28, Monarchs)

The lower numbers tend to be first choice in each position, but if you're picking a team for me, don't be afraid to include a few who are not.

If you're wondering where Schiavonia has been since their previous appearances on the international scene... well, they've been floating around the NSverse on some sort of floating island, visiting countries all over the place for sixty years. As a result, members of Schiavonia's tiny population (currently 681) have a surprising mix of ethnic backgrounds.

But a recent chain of events have seen a desire for Schiavonia to return to international sports. When Schiavonia decided to return to the international football scene, they realised that the kits they had in storage were designed almost 150 years ago. So they got in touch with the lovely people at Barrengeka in Astograth, because trees are nice, so having one on the kit would look lovely, too.

Image

Games in Schiavonia will take place on The Field, which has a capacity of around 6,000. There will be a main stand for 5,000 away fans, and the locals will stand around the edge of the pitch. Not that this part is relevant for tournaments where games are all at neutral venues in a host nation. But Kinitaria is one of the closest nations to Schiavonia, so pop over for a holiday, if you like. It's very nice!

What else can we tell you about Schiavonia? The people are very friendly (sometimes, too friendly for their own good.) They love a celebration. They live on a very small island with a pleasant climate. And they stem from a surprisingly range of ethnic backgrounds (helped by some of the friendliness and celebrations). They are alarmingly honest - you won't catch a Schiavone player diving - but their honesty can only stretch as far as their knowledge. Which isn't always too far.

Right, all of that stuff on the form that needs dealing with. Schiavonia play with a +2 style modifier, and you can do what you like with regards to our matches. Although, if there's anything major going on, it'd be nice to consult the SFF's storyline department first. But really, though... Permissions? Where's the fun in them!?!

If the SFF think of anything else worth mentioning, you will be the first to know!

WEST ANGOLAN WORLD CUP 68 ROSTER:

They're bigger! (Not really) They're better! (Probably not) They're almost two decades younger on average! (This one's true) West Angola has trimmed the dead weight from World Cup 67, and will debut several fresh faces to complement the players who made their first splash in the pond last time around. With such familiar faces as Peter Wilson, Luke Parrish, Blake Green, and Jan Pawel gone from the pitch (although Parrish, Pawel, and Green have been retained as members of the expanded coaching staff, and Wilson and Samuel Goulding will be replacing the retiring Michael Larssen and James McDaniels as the commentators for EPSN's World Cup coverage), West Angola will field a team of youngsters, hoping youth and vigor can succeed where old age and experience have failed, to play off the old adage.

COACHING STAFF:

Head Coach: Phillip Garren- The original squad's keeper, Garren was injured in an auto accident the night after the first match of Baptism of Fire 45. He was unable to continue playing, but has remained as the team's head coach ever since the assassination of Peter Warren. Despite a threat to his position after the debacle in World Cup 67, Garren has been retained at the request of several players, both established and new, and will guide the team for at least one more cycle as he ages.
Age: 76

Assistant Coach: Isaac Warren- A forward for the team since the beginning, Warren was kidnapped and poisoned during World Cup 61. He was nearly killed, and the chemicals ravaged his body beyond condition for football. Warren is now the team's assistant coach, and will share duties with Parrish and Blake Green in the expanded coaching staff.
Age: 60

Attacking Coach: Luke Parrish- Parrish is synonymous with football in West Angola, having played for the team since its inception (excepting a brief period where he became King). As West Angola's most prolific and powerful forward, Parrish has hung up his cleats for the second time and will now seek to teach the next generation to follow in his footsteps.
Age: 59

Defensive Coach: Jan Pawel- Pawel has been both a midfielder and a defender in his career, and over the course of Phillip Garren's shifting strategies, has played nearly everywhere on the pitch at one point or another. Garren and the Sporting Ministry are hoping that that versatility can be taught as the team moves into a new era.
Age: 35

Keeper's Coach: Blake Green- Green was a suitable replacement to Jacob Kerys, as he was slightly less talented but made up for it by being vastly more consistent, which helped relieve pressure from West Angola's defense. With West Angola's new keeper, Alex Birke, making the first appearance of a player from Huambo FC on the national team's starting eleven, the Ministry is relying on Green to help keep the young keeper focused and controlled in his debut.

Kernansquillec's Squad for World Cup 68 Qualifying

General Information
Kernansquillec is back. After competing in multiple World Cups, qualifying for the finals once in 57th edition and finishing 4th in the 42nd Baptism of Fire, football in Kernansquillec came to a sudden halt as war broke out across the country. Unranked going into this World Cup qualifying with an inexperienced squad that have just finished the first professional season of the renewed Kernansquillecan football league system.

Kernansquillec play forward going football with a style modifier of +3.0 in a 4-2-3-1 formation. All players in the squad play their football in the KERFA league system.

Kernansquillec are known to fans as the Green and Whites, the Kers or the Green Stallions. A big number of fans follow the team around and football is really more of a religion in Kernansquillec than a pastime. If Kernansquillec are playing at least one of the stands will be green.

Kernansquillec's FA, the KERFA, have their own official website with information on all things footbally. You can find it HERE.

Starting XI
P.Lilac
M.Iris A.Noupen Z.Poutre
J.Fungouli X.Quaby (C)
J.Yegos S.Kellah J.Dubois M.Cressac
K.Ellysa (GK)

Substitutes
H.Ferly (GK) K.Stoke R.Bones I.Zorm
J.Maynard P.Al-Perut J.Gigode

Squad Information

Kate ELLYSA GK, n.1, 22 years old (Rennes)
Kate is an young goalkeeper with huge potential. Adopted by a family near Rennes at the age of 4 with her parents presumed dead, life has been hard for Ellysa, but football has given her the chance to shine. A truly dedicated professional.

Mary CRESSAC RB, n.2, 19 years old (Mont Kate)
One of only two players in the squad who have ties with former international players. Mary is one of three daughters who's father is Xavier Cressac, a former star midfielder of the Green & Whites, playing in the side that made it to the group states of WC57. A young and promising right back.

Julian YEGOS LB, n.3, 26 years old (Guingamp)
Julian is one of the experienced faces of the side. Having fought in the War of Independence, football hasn't always been a priority. For many years a mere kick about with fellow soldiers was the best he got. But with the return of peace, he was spotted playing for an Army XI in Kernansquillec City and now plays for Guingamp, the currant First Division champions.

Jean DUBOIS CB, n.4, 24 years old (Rennes du Nord)
Jean and his family had moved to Polar Islandstates before the war started. Football had always been his thing, but despite trials with some top division sides as a youngster he was never offered a contract and spend most of his youth playing in amateur divisions. Aged 21 he decided to return to Kernansquillec to help out with the Red Cross in the aftermath of the war. He was soon spotted by Rennes du Nord and played a crucial role in their promotion to the First Division, playing in a defense that only conceded 15 goals all season.

Stuart KELLAH CB, n.5, 22 years old (Guingamp)
Stuart will line-up alongside club teammate Yegos. A solid center back who's strong performances at center back helped Guingamp win the First Division and make it all the way to the Globe Cup Round of 16. He is also a threat for set pieces.

Julia FENGOULI DM, n.6, 21 years old (Kernansquillec City)
Julia is the Kernansquillec City captain. Despite her side falling short in the race for the title, she is a rock in front of the back four. Anticipation is a key part of her game that sees her intercept and distribute a great number of balls, breaking up dangerous attacks before they have time to develop. She will have to be on top form if Kernansquillec are to do well in qualifying.

Silvio QUABY DM, n.8, 30 years old, captain (New Southampton)
The oldest player in the side, Silvio is, along with Yegos, the padre of the team. He's been given the captaincy of the side, a role that he also holds at New Southampton. Despite his age Silvio is pretty much at the peak of his game. Finding space in midfield is no problem for him and more often that not he will ghost into the gap between midfield and attack, ready to drill any balls in at goal, be it from 18 yards out or 30 yards out.

Marie IRIS LM, n.7, 17 years old (St Markus Youth Academy)
Marie is one of two players from the St Markus Youth Academy to make it into the side. Rumors of a big money move to New Southampton will surely surround the teenager star throughout qualifying, but if she can focus on the task at hand and perform like she has done all season then fullbacks should be afraid, very afraid! Her lightning pace and bizarre technical moves saw her score the U19 Premier League goal of the season in a 2-1 home win against the Louargat Centre de Formation, beating four players before curling the ball past the keeper on a 50 yard run.

Zac POUTRE RM, n.9, 19 years old (Louargat)
The 19 year old plays his football for Louargat. Despite a poor season from his side that was expected to shine, Zac's performances often brought an extra edge to his side's game. Doubts had been raised on wherever he would get the nod, but it would seem that he has done enough this season. Louargat fans will just be praying that he doesn't pick up an injury in qualifying as that would surely be a big blow to them in the run up to the new season.

Adélaïde NOUPEN CAM, n.10, 20 years old (Guingamp)
Adélaïde will be a key player for the national side. Her quality has been on show at the Globe Cup where she played a central role in getting Guingamp to the knockout rounds on their debut. Her partnership with Lilac up front has torn many a defense apart in the league this season. If they can get the NOULI partnership firing on all cylinders this campaign a few upsets may just be on the cards.

Peter LILAC ST, n.11, 18 years old (Guingamp)
Peter is the second player in the squad who has a relation from a former World Cup squad. His father is of course the great Adam Lilac. It was reported that he had been killed in the bombing of Kernansquillec City at the start of the war, but it later turned out that the young Lilac had been pulled from the rubble by rescue workers. The young man led one of many post-war memorial processions, laying flowers at a memorial for the victims of the Kernansquillec City bombing which claimed the life of 95,000 civilians over 3 months, including his parents and older sister. Defense should be warned that his speed can pose a lot of problems. His set pieces are also something to be feared.

Hector FERLY Substitute GK, n.13, 17 years old (St Marie Youth Academy)
The 17 year goalkeeper is the other player from the U19 Premier League to make the cut. A promising young player. However it seems unlikely that he will feature unless Ellysa picks up an injury.

Kim STOKE Substitute CB, n.12, 24 years old (Rennes)
The Rennais center back may fell slightly hard done by with Dubois being picked ahead of him, especially with Dubois playing for the other Rennes team, both of whom enjoy a slightly less-than-friendly rivalry. Both sets of fans are defending their man. But so far Stoke looks as if he should get on well with Dubois depite all this.

Richard BONES Substitute RB, n.14, 22 years old (Kernansquillec City)
The 22 year right back will have to act as cover for both the right and left back positions. Thankfully he is a two footed player and has already played out at left back this season for his club after a few unfortunate injuries.

Isabelle ZORM Substitute DM, n.15, 20 years old (St Marie)
The St Marie midfielder probably wasn't expecting a call-up with her side finishing before last in the First Division. However they did have a pretty decent defensive record, conceding a mere 16 goals, as many as the second placed side Kernansquillec City. But the call came and even if she will have to accept not being first choice, she will probably get chances to show what she can do on the big stage at some point these championships.

Justin MAYNARD Substitute RM, n.16, 16 years old (Louargat)
Justin is the youngest player in the squad at a mere 16 years of age. The right midfielder is currently evolving at Louargat after getting promoted to the senior side from their centre de formation within the first few weeks of the season. He has impressed as an impact substitution and his youthfulness will surely be exploited by Sandheart.

Pascale AL-PERUT Substitute CAM, n.17, 24 years old (New Southampton)
Al-Perut was a young helicopter pilot during the war. Like many of her teammates in the squad, the war has played a big part in her life and she was fortunate not to lose her life when her helicopter went down near Binic. She broke her leg in that incident, but she was eager to get back on her feet and joined New Southampton at the end of the war after an open trial day.

Jay GIGODE Substitute ST, n.18, 21 years old (Louargat)
Louargat may have finished mid table, but they were still the second best goal scorers in the First Division. Jay Gigode has mainly been part of a front two with his club, but he's been called up for what should be more or less a rotation role as Lilac is clearly Kernansquillec's number one striker. But he will have a role to play and the team will be counting on him to provide some goals when he is involved.

The Coaches

Rachael SANDHEART, Manager
The first ever female coach of the national side, Rachael is a figure of authority in the international set-up. Hand picked by KERFA after impressing managing the semi-professional New Southampton before the new league system was set up, the 42 year old is famed for wanting a high pressing game with mobile attacking unit. Accurate and fast passing is key. Expect her to set up the team for free-flowing attacking football.

Amelia VAN DER PON, Assistant Manager
The faithful assistant of Sandheart was also at New Southampton before they turned professional. However recent rumors have stated that the 41 year old is looking for a return to club management.

The Away kit is mainly white with a green diagonal stripe from shoulder to thigh and green socks.

The Stadium
Kernansquillec will play all of their homes games in Kernansquillec City, the Capital of Kernansquillec, at the National Stadium which has a reduced capacity of 95,000 with works still underway in the rebuilding of the stadium. Fans may access the stadium by metro from the whole city or via the direct line from the airport, by train from the station just 500m from the stadium, or by car or bus thanks to the huge car park next to the stadium. Many hotels, hostels, restaurants and leisure centers are open for business so fans will always be well looked after in Kernansquillec.

Manager: Bucky Freezus
Bucky Freezus has to be considered one of the greatest offensive minds in all of soccer. He is a clear innovator that brings so much to the table for Estope. Following Emanuel Inzer's firing, Freezus was the clear choice for his replacement. His experience in high school girl's basketball along with his motivational speaking ability were the keys that led to his hiring. With those traits it was impossible for Brian Monte to ignore him. He was officially announced in the Eighth Campionato Esportiva but did not officially begin his role until after it finished. He will no doubt have Estope competing for a championship in no time. Last year he had some hardships, but that was expected since he does not yet have his players to fit his high paced style of play.

Assistant Manager: Ed Ogarchetski
Although Coach O has no prior soccer experience, he is great a evaluating talent. Coach O pulled together some of Estope's greatest athletes to be on this team and is an expert in keeping team spirits up. He is truly the player's coach and works hard to make sure they are happy.

Head of Estope Soccer Association: Brian Monte
A true innovator, Monte has explored all aspects of social media and fan involvement. Known for his revolutionary contests where fans get to play with the team and catchy hashtags, Monte is constantly pushing the limits and staying one step ahead of the rest of the competition.

Down the Rabbit Hole: Hicana's WC 68 Qual Roster

Background: After traveling through a warp that eliminated fatigue to play a best-of-99 series against Nexxus Drako, Hicanan scientists took illegal samples of materials in the warp and the other dimension and distilled it at home to create a potion that would eliminate fatigue and aging. It was mixed in with protein supplements and added to the food of the national team players to make them stronger, have amazing stamina, and immortal. It worked.

STARTING 11

GK : Brian Cockayne , Age : 22 , #1
Great goalkeeper; especially good in 1 v 1 situations, corners, and penalties.

WBL : Sorin-Ioan Bondor , Age : 24 , #3
An up and coming wing back, great speed, and eye for the ball; needs to develop "heading."
CB : Emiliano Maldonado , Age : 25 , #7
After his red card in the BoF, he returns to the starting lineup. Slow center, but is great on 1 v1 defending
WBR : Pitor Dankas , Age : 23 , #4
Excellent defender in all aspects of defending. Not quite mature, you'll see him in a lot of off field conflicts.

WL : Luis Jubben , Age : 25 , #21
Speedy winger that will have defenders on their tip toes.
CM : Galvinaro Reyes , Age : 21 , #17
Rather short at midfield, his defender will have an easy task at hand. Reyes needs to work on footwork.
CM : Artin Dobas , Age : 31 , #27
Full of experience, this veteran will take the starting center midfield position away from injured Levan Massimiki.
CM : Daniel Bitar , Age : 18 , #24
Up and coming "rookie." Has a nerves problem, and will appear very frightened before a big game.
WR : Innim Pazzini , Age : 23 , #5
Fastest player on the team, he will cause chaos on that right wing. Needs to work on footwork.

FL : Simon Hubbeau , Age : 29 , #11
Team captain. Great leader on and off the pitch, but sadly his shot is getting weaker as he ages. When his shots are on target, they somehow manage to find their way into the back of the net!
FR : Lawrence Goodima , Age : 21 , #28
In the coaches eyes, best forward on the team. Has a deadly shot, excellent footwork, and some creative plays.

The Auroral Technocratic Union of Mizuyuki
Official Roster for World Cup 68

Official kits of the Mizuyuki national team, courtesy of Kirola Sports

Nation Background

Mizuyuki (Mikazukian: 瑞雪 , Tinchalian: 瑞雪, Mizuyuki; formally 瑞雪国 Mizuyuki-koku, Ruixueguo, alternatively the Auroral Technocratic Union of Mizuyuki) is an amalgamation of twenty separate local regional governments into one discrete entity, commonly referred to as simply The Technocracy of Mizuyuki. Part of the region of Aurora along with regional neighbours Norvenia, Aurinsula and Skorzenia, Mizuyuki is regarded one of a select group of nations with the highest level of human development in the known world, scoring 0.902 on the Human Development Index (HDI) in 2013. The nation also plays host to several multinational corporations with a global presence, most notably the government run Sakura Japanese Cuisine, Paladin Cinemas of New Edom and Arcadia Initiative.

Stretching over 275,000 km2 in total land area, Mizuyuki is among the smaller nations in the Aurora region. However, it ranks among the most densely populated nations in the region, with an average population density of 438 people per square kilometre. Mizuyuki practises a form of government that is essentially a democratic technocracy combined with a unitary bicameral parliamentary system operating under a constitutional monarchy - a unique governmental system that has allowed the country to flourish and prosper years after its inception.

Even though Mizuyuki is officially recognised as a distinct sovereign entity, it is practically similar to a form of regional coalition among the twenty prefectures(県), which are further subdivided into seventy two districts(郡). As such, the prefectures are usually given a high degree of autonomy in performing their administrative functions; the federal government will only interfere in the prefectural administration if the need arises. Mizuyuki is currently under the de jure reign of Her Imperial Majesty Shirakawa-no-Kirino, while the Executive Committee, colloquially known as the Decimvirate, acts as the official advisor to the Empress.

Team Background

Mizuyuki under Shirakiin Kurumi's tutelage has been a revolution so far. After Shirakiin took Ishikawa's place for the Market Cup held in Mapletish this edition, she masterfully led the team to a long run in the tournament, culminating in a pulsating 3-2 victory over a strong Ko-oren outfit in the final and lifting the Nova's first ever piece of silverware in the process.

Shirakiin is a very ideological coach when it comes to football strategy and tactics; as such, she has persevered with her brand of attacking, creative football throughout her reign at the top of Mizuyuki's footballing hierarchy. Shirakiin heavily emphasises the rapid recycling of possession from the back - it's not uncommon to see the ball being passed quickly from the defence to the midfield or forward line after possession is gained, without any dithering on the ball. However, there is a distinct personality to the team's attacking play - Mizuyuki usually breaks rapidly down the flanks before cutting into the middle. This can give them some trouble when they come up against a team who prioritises the battle for the center of the park, but in that case the two inverted wingers will switch flanks and start to bomb crosses in from wide with their favoured foot - the same goes for the wingbacks. The philosophy of Total Football is also given priority in Shirakiin's system, and Mizuyuki's players will regularly switch positions during open play, so a wingback may appear in the forward line, and a striker might track back to defend while leaving a winger up front as an auxiliary forward.

The Official List for the Drekkevaas Squad in The 68th World Cup

The squad of Drekkevaas was chosen among the best performing players in the Drekkevaas Natyonal Lig.1. Those players will have the distinction and honor of being the squad for the Drekkevaas' National Team's first major international tournament. Without further ado, below this paragraph is the list of all of the players chosen and a short bio. This is the same team that made Drekkevaas proud by making it to the quarterfinals of the Baptism of Fire.

Starting Eleven

Goalkeeper: Haden Ausplatze - Waen Starlight - 21 - Haden Ausplatze was the leading force in the Waen Starlight having the lowest goals conceded total in the league this past season. He made some great saves, and even scored once (a penalty against Zrboch y Citien) but the main reason why he was chosen was because of his outstanding consistency.

Right Back: Zejran Lundje - Brrachu Sylebba - 24 - Zejran Lundje was the driving defender behind Brrachu Sylebba's title run. A versatile defender, he can play anywhere in the defense and up at the wings in midfield. He made some great tackles, and it has been said about him that he was the Defender of the Year, for his skill in stopping the opposition from scoring.

Right Center Back: Jaan Helenki - Allaen Nightclouds - 17 - Jaan Helenki, despite playing for the under-performed Allaen NIghtclouds, was chosen for his versatility and ability to read the field. For being 17 years of age, Jaan has had a remarkable career, scoring 10 goals and making the Top 5 Defenders list at the end of the season. He has always played with his lucky number 96.

Left Center Back: Aidur Flaan - Ameran Fighting Jiraffas - 28 - Aidur Flaan is, at 28, the oldest player on the national team. Having played overseas for most of his career, he came back with the first edition of the Drekkevaas Natyonal Lig.1 and he signed for the Fighting Jiraffas. Along with left back Jhantu Vecci, he one of the reasons the Fighting Jiraffas made it to the Globe Cup spot.

Left Back: Jhantu Vecci - Ameran Fighting Jiraffas - 22 - Jhantu Vecci was the playmaker of the Fighting Jiraffas. Able to play on both wings in defense and midfield, he helped center back Aidur Flaan shore up the defense of the Fighting Jiraffas to get them to the Globe Cup spot. He also made 3rd on the Top 5 Defenders list.

Right Midfield: Arhanne Kraku - Drekkevaas City Thunder - 20 - Arhanne Kraku was the MVP of the under-performed Drekkevaas City Thunder, who were expected to finish in the Champions Cup or Globe Cup spots. Arhanne was the only real bright spot in the Thunder's season. Having picked him up from an amateur side, the Thunder proceeded to jump out of the bottom 3 and into midtable. Kraku is also a very versatile midfielder, able to play anywhere in the outfield.

Right Center Midfield: Doge Ghanaica - Drekkevaas Citien Klub - 24 - Doge Ghanaica was one of the star of Drekkevaas Citien Klub, who disappointingly finished out of the international tournament spots. A hard worker, he is known for charging all the way back to his own 18 yard box, getting the ball, and dribbling past the entire opposition team to score at the other end.

Left Center Midfield: Rache Daugen-Flenzefeld - Bellacasse Town - 19 - Rache Daugen-Flenzefeld was the playmaker of the Bellacasse Town squad, who defied expectations to become the leading scorer in the Drekkevaas Natyonal Lig.1 in its first season. He has a great boot and can shoot from 30 yards out to test the keeper.

Left Midfield: Ahjalo Ommaeran - Fleenzig Klub - 26 - Ahjalo Ommaeran was the backbone of Fleenzig Klub. While not helping out in the defense or sending balls up to the strikers, Ahjalo has a great shot and scored the longest-range goal this year, scoring on a 60-yard lob over the keeper's head into the goal.

Second Striker: Lennaire Faschi - Brrachu Sylebba - 20 - Lennaire Faschi was one of the other reasons why Brrachu Sylebba won the league title. Along with brother Gerhain, he made up the leading scoring partnership in the league. He was 2nd on the Top 5 Strikers list.

Center Forward: Gerhain Faschi - Brrachu Sylebba - 20 - Gerhain Faschi made up the second half of the league-leading striking partnership that was the Faschi brothers. He made 1st on the Top 5 Strikers list because of his skill in making an opportunity out of positions that seem almost impossible.

Substitutes:

Goalkeeper: Drakh Hrandaldi

Defender: Jahan Zebbek

Defender: Lahti Fhoen

Midfielder: Kroenig Kzoywa

Midfielder: Hamafi Azik-Zavyacu

Forward: Klonne Jaasjarden

Forward: Druku Jahalti

The Drekkevan National Stadium (officially the Drekkevaas N'atyonal Stadionel) is a rather large stadium for the nation that it is located in, seating 97,800 people. It has exactly one dressing room (the architect had a complete brainfart as he was designing the stadium) so the away team dresses in the private swimming pool dressing room just outside the stadium. As the nation of Drekkevaas is quite frequently plagued by attacks of rain (yes, the rain actually targets people) it is recommended that you bring a umbrella with a heating device inside it (they are frequently available at airports and train stations.)

Team Nickname: Purple Knights

Vice-Captain:Lydie

MANAGERIAL STAFF
Manager: Gwyn Juniper
Perhaps the 2nd greatest player in Taeshani history, Gwyn Juniper now leads the Purple Knights into the world of qualifying for the first time. In the Copa Rushmori he managed to pilot the team only to the Round of Sixteen losing to Charuterra. With an overall record of 2-1-1 he now gets a chance to get some more games under his belt, but at the same time will have to deal with expectations of nation who have seen their hopes dashed 3 consecutive qualifying campaigns. Will he become even more of a hero throughout the nation, or like many of his Taeshani predecessors fall victim to his game.

Assistant Manager: Elijah Knickerbocker
As many expected Juniper has brought up long time friend and teammate Elijah Knickerbocker to be his assistant. Knickerbocker has been the U21 coach for a few seasons and now moves up to help out on the full level. He was captain of the National team in the years before Juniper and is a strong leader and will help keep the Knights in line.

GOALKEEPERS

1 - Joe Jackson - New Capetown Falcons 44 Caps, 26 Years Old
With two full campaigns now under his belt Joe Jackson comes into the best part of his career with not only experience, but the belief of his team. With a solid defense in front of him many think this could be the season the Purple Knights return to the World Cup.

23 - Logan Watson - X Island Marauders 17 Caps, 28 Years Old
A second go at the Copa Rushmori gives the Knights confidence in their backup netminder. Watson looks to continue to be a strong vocal member of the locker room and continue his great play for his club side, and possibly fight for a few starts.

25 - Jacob Martin - Atlantea Hurricanes 5 Caps, 29 Years Old
In what will likely be his last chance in the national team uniform, Martin provides a option if both Joe Jackson and Logan Watson get hurt. With his club form and his age getting worse he may be in it for one last hurrah.

DEFENDERS

3 - CB, Jordan Jaffacake - Red Star Severny (Polar Islandstates) 149 Caps, 10 Goals, 30 Years Old
Jaffacake is a beast. Tall, strong, powerful with his headers. Now hes in a new stretch of life, moving to the Polar Islandstates to follow his wife Lydie and her club career, and also get away from the sinking ship at Moresville Jaffacake has landed in Severny. He may not be a sure fire starter in the Islandstates, and it may all be new to him, but luckily X Island shipped off Alex Guggenheim there as well, so he has a player from his country with his own aspirations of national team playing, and the competition in the Islandstates for playing time, and in the game can only help the sometimes complacent center back.

4 - RB, Peter Fasnacht - Los Riosa Monstas 104 Caps, 30 Years Old
The newest member of the Taeshani centuions on the cap list is Peter Fasnacht. The speedy right back is looking to make one last go of it at the world cup and return to the finals like he and his comrades on the back line had done for so many years. Age has not slowed him down as much as many would have thought, but that said he can't do everything he once could.

7 - LB, Jeremiah Longwaters - FC Gordonopia (United Gordonopia) 146 Caps, 1 Goal, 29 Years Old
Jeremiah will no longer feel so odd on the back line as he is now joined by 2 of his teammates in international arenas. The smart defensive left back has managed to continue excellent form on all stretches of the field and with perhaps another go in him he is really fighting this tournament for his teammates hopes of a final hurrah in the world cup.

9 - CB, Lydie - FC Torshavn (Polar Islandstates) 149 Caps, 5 Goals, 30 Years Old
The big news in the club offseason was the departures of basically everyone from Moresville. And the biggest move was Lydie sealing the deal with FC Torshavn, a top 10 team in a top three country. Polar Islandstates has long been an unknown to Taeshani players but now they have seemed to crack the code. Lydie will be getting a lot of play at Left Back but will continue on at central defense for the national team, at least for now.

2- Dusty Latrine - Blacklake Blues 1 Cap, 26 Years Old
Replacing longtime backup left back on the team will be short time B team player Dusty Latrine who vaults right into the 23 from relative obscurity. That being said there was really not many options to fill the fullback slot. Especially with such notable players in Taeshan as Tyler Provyay and Max Toldeo already in the squad.

15 - Tyler Provyay - Laketown Rangers 11 Caps, 28 years Old
Provyay is now rather suddenly the best option off the bench if you want to add some width defensively or width in general. Though his club side managed to find a way to relegation, Provyay had little to do with it injuring himself once again. But now hes all healthy again, and seemingly back to being able to run the pitch like he hasnt in years.

21 - Max Toledo - Mt Ceabring Thunder 13 Caps, 28 Years Old
If they ever write of Max Toledo's career it will be short and sweet, mostly because his career has been a lot like that for the national side. Toledo is the best center defensive option to keep leads late in the game.

MIDFIELDERS

5 - CDM, Jeremi Krieder - Ojian Orangemen 39 Caps, 3 Goal, 28 Years Old
Moving into the starting lineup to replace Tyler Icicle is longtime bench spark plug Jeremi Krieder. Krieder will have to get used the box to box position fast or risk losing his spot in the lineup like Mark Tlumach last time around on the outside.

6 - LM, Mark Tlumach - New Capetown Falcons 46 Caps, 2 Goals, 27 Years Old
On the left side now sits Tlumach. Once given a chance to start in Alexandre Giroux's reign, Tlumach lost his starting spot thanks to some shuffling around of the midfield. Now the older more experienced Tlumach looks to make himself stick in Gwyn Juniper's lineup.

8 - CAM, Ender Wiggin - Nautico (Whirl Islands) 202 Caps, 105 Goals, 32 Years Old, CAPTAIN
Many were shocked when Ender Wiggin made the horific call internally to headbutt a ref, but now the Captain is back and ready to make things right with the fans by showing them his best in what will likely be his final run at the world cup. Many hope hes still got the magic he showed in his early career and can help the side return to the World Cup in his final go.

12 - RM, Andrew Müller - Arçon (Saugeais) 91 Caps, 2 Goals, 30 Years Old
Andrew is likely to eclipse the 100 cap mark around the halfway point of qualifiers and many are proud to see him do it. From a scrappy kid not many thought would make it in Taeshan let alone to the national team. Andrew is the master of set pieces in Taeshan, and with some new tricks learned in Saugeais he may be just the right tool on the right side.

11 - Jansen Cardinal - Bayern Phoenix 5 Caps, 26 Years Old
New to the national team this tournament is Jansen Cardinal. A staple of the Bayern attack Cardinal will likely get some late looks in games, but don't expect a lot of them. There are many senior full team guys that deserve more play than him at the moment.

14 - Grant Fauejeau - Fadron Flight 17 Caps, 2 Goals, 25 Years Old
Grant Fauejeau proved a vital part of the Taeshani offense in the Copa Rushmori and many think he can take the place of Jeremi Krieder and Mark Tlumach off the bench to give the Purple Knights the spark they need to win games late.

17 - Karl Llana - Bayern-Algaer 18 Caps, 27 Years Old
Karl Llana is around for a second go round, and thats all there really is to say about him.

19 - Adain Nostradamus - Ojian Orangemen 9 Caps, 26 Years Old
A very fast wingback who can not only play on the wing but is a viable option for the defense and even possibly as a striker. He will not likely get much time, but for the future of the national team he is a likely star.

22 - LM, A.J. Bouvieau -Fadrön Flight 2 Caps, 25 Years Old
Another new player to the midfield is the Flyers' A.J. Bouvieau. Bouvieau is a great option in the midfield but it will likely take a cycle or so for him to really make his mark.

STRIKERS

10 - LS, Brian Ibrahim - Canalave Dragons (Valladares) 130 Caps, 30 Goals, 30 Years Old
Ibrahim like Ender Wiggin it seems like has been around forever and now he looks to continue being the top forward in the 4-4-2. Really he is the primary scoring option and the most threatening part of the Taeshani attack.

16 - RS, Tyler Pantoum - RSK Longyearbyen 60 Caps, 20 Goals, 24 Years Old
Speaking of players who moved to the Islandstates, and of players who have seemingly been around forever, Tyler Pantoum has 60 caps and yet is the youngest player on the squad, go figure. Pantoum is the ice to Brian Ibrahim's fire. He lulls the defense to sleep and then pounces on the goalie and makes crazy things happen.

13 - Farley Baines - Mt Ceabring Thunder 2 Caps, 27 Years Old
Funnily enough one MT Ceabring striker is replaced by another as Kyle Laravy is replaced by Farley Baines. Baines is likely the third striking optio off the bench.

20 - Gregory Fawkes - Real Chinchinhua 16 Caps, 3 Goals, 26 Years Old
Fawkes got a great chance to start in the Copa Rushmori and used it to his great advantage. Hopefully for him he can be in the mix to come off the bench.

24 - Skylar Crane - Mt Ceabring Thunder 41 Caps, 7 Goals, 28 years Old
The real option off the bench for a goal is Target forward Skylar Crane who had likely hoped to see twin brother Liam Crane as the new striker on the national side, but club teammate Farley Baines likely wont make him mad. He is the number 1 striking option off the bench.

Kylx's last venture as the coach of the Vaporeons includes a debuting player: recently debuted half-Vaporeon ("spiritually" at least, for photo editors' sake) Hannah Alcouin, who is now finally signed to RSK Longyeabyen Town after staying three seasons with the San Jose Sharks. The slot left open by Yolanda McFlemming, now retired and coaching Afonse Battalion (and don't worry, you'll probably end up hearing more about her soon), has been at last filled by promising Matthew Di Martine, thus upping the number of players at Astograth in the National Team, together with Netto Hikari and Namine Nagatomo. Also, Kimiki is passed down for the time being with a surprisingly fresh Starfox taking his spot at the starter portion of the squad.

The Pony Republic of Equestrian States
National Hoofball Team - World Cup 68 Roster

Introduction
The Ponies come into the 68th World Cup ambitious to surpass the record they set in the last edition while acting as hosts of the tournament. Reaching the second round after an impressive group stage showing, the Equestrian States would fall to eventual semifinalists Valladares in disappointing fashion. Despite the style of their exit, the Ponies got a taste of the final stage of the multiverse's largest tournament and will be more determined than ever to prove that their success wasn't just a one-time anomaly. Expectations will be high, but the Equestrians certainly have the ability to go far with their youthful, experienced, and experienced talented roster.

As a host nation, the Equestrian States did not participate in qualifying last year having an automatic berth in the finals; though their place was not earned without some minor controversy due to the closest host vote in the history of the World Cup Committee. Drawn into Group E, the Ponies were seeded second behind top-ranked Polar Islandstates and well ahead of lower seeds Antoletia and New Sideburn. Most expected the Polarians to advance with ease, followed closely by the Equestrians thanks to an apparent gulf in class between the top and bottom seeds and the Ponies' home-field advantage. After cruising past New Sideburn 2-0 in their opener, the hosts were in excellent position to clinch a spot in the next round with a win over the Antoletians and a game still left to be played. However, the Ponies struggled to apply the killing blow in their second match and headed into their tie with the Polarians needing a point to control their own fate. In front of a packed crowd at Royal Equestria Stadium the Equestrian States pressed the best team in the multiverse to the brink, and despite only managing a scoreless draw, the Ponies were through to the second round for the first time in their history. Unfortunately, the Equestrians would fall short of victory against Valladares and exit the tournament as the fifteenth-ranked team in the world.

This year, the Ponies returned to World Cup action carrying an unbeaten streak in qualifying stretching back to the 65th World Cup and boasting a 33-11-2 record in qualifiers since World Cup 64. Though playing in Group 23 with a handful of recognizable opponents, the Equestrian States expects nothing less than qualification from this team. The Ponies' closest competitors for the top spot will likely be 27th-ranked Zwangzug, a nation which has been on the rise for several years now and is a favorite to qualify as one of the better second seeds out there. Iturributa will probably be a challenger for a spot in the playoffs, though with Levivania and Patistan not far off they'll have their work cut out for them. Further down the rankings we have Zwannswijik, the Gandham Islands, and McKleigh, and while any one of them could certainly pull an upset over the mid-ranked teams they'll probably be playing for a spot in the Cup of Harmony at best.

With high expectations and dreams of World Cup glory, the Equestrian States will seek to continue their rise as a power in the hoofball world. Younger stars such as Rainbow Blitz, Pristina Shine, and Gentle Breeze are quickly becoming known across the multiverse as some of the best players at their respective positions. Meanwhile, aging players like Fire Dash, Starlight Sparkle, and Rapid Dash look to cement their legacies and secure forever their place in the public's heart. Lacking big-name opponents or fierce rivals in their qualifying group, this World Cup will probably see a greater focus than before on the players rather than the opposition.

The national team receives its kits from two different companies, though the design for each is the same. Kits for the humanoid players (see above) are provided by Kirola Sportswear of Audioslavia, while those for equine and other non-humanoid players are provided by Generosity Sporting Equipment. The Equestrian kits were designed to be simple and easy to identify, using the national colors of purple and orange.

Players

Goalkeepers
Image
#1 - GK - Gentle Breeze (Pegasus - Female) - 24 - Image Astograth University (ASG) - 39 Caps, 1 Assist
Two years ago, Gentle Breeze captured the attention of the international community by posting four clean sheets in the knockout rounds of the Di Bradini Cup, helping lead the Little Ponies to their first title. Now graduated from the Equestrian States' U-21s, Gentle Breeze has set her eye on a bigger prize: the starting goalkeeper's spot on the senior squad. Though the youthful pegasus has been on the national team's roster for a few years, she didn't appear ready to take the reins from High Soarin' until the current starter saw 11 goals fly by him in the last World Cup group stage. Signed by Northern Sunrise Islands' Mardi Lopunnies after she won the Di Bradini Cup with the Little Ponies, Gentle Breeze continues to build an impressive resume, and could be among the best keepers in the world, given a few years to develop her already impressive talents.

Image
#20 - GK - Barrel Roll (Earth Pony - Female) - 27 - Image Appleoosa HC (EQS) - 5 Caps
Often looked upon as being the third wheel of a skilled Equestrian goalkeeping duo, Barrel Roll has been with the national team for several years. Though not the big-name star that Gentle Breeze and High Soarin' are in the Equestrian States, the earth pony mare is a capable keeper with a tremendous ability to clear the ball downfield. She probably won't ever be considered the top Equestrian goalkeeper, but few would dare consider her to be outside of the top five. Barrel Roll is generally seen as being more immediately concerned with Appleoosa HC's struggles in the United League than the national team, but is devoted to the Ponies and content to sit back and let others take the glory, offering Head Coach Twilight Striker a reasonable third option should injuries ever plague the national team as they did in the 63rd World Cup.

Image
#22 - GK - Nightflame (Unicorn - Male) - 23 - Image Canterlot Stars (EQS) - 8 Caps
Description description description description description description description description description description description description description description description description description description description description description description description description description description description description description description.

Defenders
Image
#3 - DF - Flitter (Pegasus - Female) - 28 - Image Ponyville United (EQS) - 145 Caps, 13 Assists, 9 Goals
The sister of midfielder Cloudchaser, Flitter is a talented defender who is seen as the anchor of the Equestrian back line. While not the most consistent player on the team, Flitter's value cannot be understated. Having the ability to act as a defensive midfielder when the squad is on the attack, the pegasus mare provides Head Coach Twilight Striker with a dangerously speedy defender often tasked with intercepting passes between opposing midfielders and forwards.

Image
#8 - DF - Andrea Molovi (Human - Female) - 27 - Image Stalliongrad HC (EQS) - 108 Caps, 4 Assists, 2 Goals
As a starting defender, Andrea Molovi is one of the most overlooked members of the squad. With the eyes of a hawk and the speed of an enraged manticore, Molovi specializes in stealing the ball away from potential attackers and keeping up with the quickest forwards. One of the few humans to play at the highest levels of Equestrian club hoofball, Andrea Molovi is a well-respected player renowned for her surprisingly clean tackles and has one of the lowest yellow card totals of any United League defender. This is even more impressive when you consider the apparent obsession some equine players have with fair play.

Image
#26 - DF - Blackmane (Earth Pony - Male) - 26 - Image Stilwater Saints (NSI) - 51 Caps, 2 Assists, 1 Goal
One of the Equestrian States' numerous young stars, Blackmane is a defender with all the potential to be a great player. But in recent years, Blackmane has failed to live up to high expectations, sometimes being the cause of defensive lapses and being one of the few Equestrian national team players to earn a red card in international play. The charcoal-furred earth pony recently signed an extension with the Stilwater Saints and is one of several Equestrian players to compete in Sunrise League One. Two seasons ago, Blackmane even managed to pull off something few analysts would have thought possible for a defender: appear on the league leaders list for most goals, finishing tied for fifth in Sunrise League One with 38 goals.

Image
#17 - DF - Subtle Trix (Pegasus - Male) - 33 - Image Cloudsdale Flyers (EQS) - 111 Caps, 3 Assists, 1 Goal
A regular on the national team, many of Subtle Trix's first 80 appearances came as a substitute. However, after several strong performances in the World Cup 64 qualifiers, Head Coach Twilight Striker decided to give him a chance and included Subtle Trix in the Equestrian States starting XI for the group stage. Determined to hold his position on the team, Subtle Trix returned last year, playing superb defense throughout the qualifying campaign. But thanks to a series of extremely costly blunders in the World Cup 65 finals, Subtle Trix cannot be considered a lock for the national team should they advance again this year. The pegasai's status as a starter is very much in doubt, and he will have to redeem himself if he wants to book his own ticket to Audioslavia or The Inevitable Syndicate.

Image
#19 - DF - Antonio Randall (Human - Male) - 30 - Image Kaje Football (UGO) - 28 Caps, 2 Assists
After falling short of making the final cut in recent years, Antonio Randall has once more persisted in rejoining the national team for another qualifying campaign. With a spot on the national team for the World Cup group stage being Randall's ultimate objective; he made a transfer to United Gordonopia's Kaje Football in the hope that the bigger-name league would present him with the opportunity to prove his readiness for the national team. Unfortunately, the move hasn't panned out quite as well as he'd wanted it to. But regardless of his lack of success at the club level, Antonio Randall is a competent defender in terms of style and is more than capable of performing at the highest levels when he is playing at his best.

Image
#24 - DF - Brix Hamilton (Human - Female) - 24 - Image Nithgard GU (EAR) - 19 Caps, 2 Assists, 1 Goal
The youngest defender on the national team, Brix Hamilton is another promising youth talent signed several years ago by Earent's Nithgard GU. Hamilton is a skillful player who has occasionally dabbled with shifting to a defensive midfielder role, but has thus far opted to remain with the back line where she has been perfecting her ability to cleanly tackle opponents without drawing costly fouls. Few believe Hamilton will make the final cut, but her stellar performance at the Summer Olympics in Orean could give her an edge in Twilight Striker's mind.

Image
#18 - DF - Horus (Unicorn - Female) - 25 - Image Canterlot Royals (EQS) - 10 Caps, 1 Assist
Supporters are already more than familiar with the unicorn defender who was a key piece in the Equestrian U-21 squad which sprinted to the Di Bradini Cup title two years ago and has been a presence on the national team ever since. Horus benefits from the lower expectations most critics have of her, and could be a dark horse to survive the final cut if she can play at a reasonable level during qualifying.

Image
#22 - DF - Ironclaw (Griffon - Female) - 31 - Image Everfree Forest HC (EQS) - 51 Caps, 1 Assist
It's relatively rare to see a griffon play hoofball, but Ironclaw has been a regular on the national team ever since the first non-equines began to wear the purple and orange. A physical defender, playing aggressively and not afraid to foul opponents, Ironclaw clearly deviates from the tendency of Equestrian defenders to rely on agility to steal the ball away. Head Coach Twilight Striker has been known to become frustrated with Ironclaw on occasion, but has retained the griffon's services for those matches where the Ponies face more physically-aggressive squads.

Image
#16 - DF - Xena (Zebra - Female) - 29 - Image Crystopolis City (CRY) - 3 Caps
Many of the older players on the Equestrian national team have been on the team ever since they were about 20 years old, but Xena doesn't quite fit into that mold. Formerly of the Whitetail Foresters, Xena's inclusion on the World Cup 65 qualifying roster came as a surprise to many, though few could say so much when she was left off the final 23 player squad. Like many other Equestrian defenders, Xena can double as a midfielder when needed, and is fairly talented considering her background in the Second League. It seems unlikely that Xena will play a prominent role on the team this year, but one can never be sure.

Image
#27 - DF - Rumble (Pegasus - Male) - 18 - Image Marine Coast United (VIL) - Uncapped
Description description description description description description description description description description description description description description description description description description description description description description description description description description description description description description.

Image
#21 - DF - Krysia Bailey (Human - Female) - 19 - Image Avenida Victoria (FFD) - 2 Caps
Description description description description description description description description description description description description description description description description description description description description description description description description description description description description description description.

Midfielders
Image
#5 - MF - Starlight Sparkle (Unicorn - Female) - 31 - Image Ponyville United (EQS) - 209 Caps, 97 Assists, 78 Goals - VICE-CAPTAIN
A starter for the national team ever since the first match of Baptism of Fire 45, Starlight Sparkle is one of the team's best players and has proven it time and time again on the pitch. At the club level, Starlight Sparkle has been a vital member of Ponyville United's repeat championship teams and deep runs in UICA competition. Though her best years may be behind her now, Starlight Sparkle is still a leader of the Ponies for assists and goals, providing the Equestrian States with a dangerous offensive weapon that opposing defenses must learn to deal with. Starlight Sparkle is particularly known for her pinpoint passes to set up forwards Fire Dash and Thunderlane for devastating strikes.

Image
#9 - MF - Rainbow Blitz (Pegasus - Male) - 24 - Image Makosile United (VIL) - 91 Caps, 55 Assists, 47 Goals
Former Captain of the U-21 squad, Rainbow Blitz led the Little Ponies to consecutive Di Bradini Cup semifinals appearances during his tenure as the team's star midfielder. However, Rainbow Blitz has also been a crucial member of the national team since he first appeared in the purple and orange in the World Cup 63 qualifiers. Not only does he have the potential to be among the best Equestrian hoofball players of all-time, but perhaps a future contender for the title of World's Best Player. Signed by Makosile United of Vilita at the age of 19, Rainbow Blitz has quickly established himself as one of the top players in the V-League, regularly appearing on the league leaders board for assists and rating. In Rainbow Blitz, the Equestrian States have one of the world's top young athletes and hope for a bright future in the World Cup.

Image
#2 - MF - Cloudchaser (Pegasus - Female) - 28 - Image Ituraitz FC (ASG) - 146 Caps, 66 Assists, 45 Goals
Though not as well-known as Rainbow Blitz or Starlight Sparkle, Cloudchaser is easily one of the top midfielders in the Equestrian States. Cloudchaser has had her fair share of success with the national team, establishing herself as a team leader in assists in recent years. Quick and able to cover ground in a heartbeat, Cloudchaser often acts as a target for Flitter, relaying her sister's clearing passes into her opponent's third of the pitch and making a lightning-quick switch from defending to attacking.

Image
#4 - MF - Apple Jack (Earth Pony - Male) - 29 - Image Mardi Lopunnies (NSI) - 144 Caps, 36 Assists, 15 Goals
Another midfield star for the national team, Apple Jack is a powerful presence on the pitch and one of the largest equine players to compete in the Equestrian Premier League. Unlike other stars for the squad, Apple Jack's talent lies more in the direction of a defensive midfielder rather than an attacker like Starlight Sparkle, Rainbow Blitz, Cloudchaser, or Rapid Dash. With considerable endurance (even by Equestrian standards), Apple Jack can be a threat to any team up through the very last minutes of the match, refusing to give opponents a rest. Apple Jack is a valued member of the team and contributes to the imposing five-member Equestrian midfield.

Image
#11 - MF - Rapid Dash (Pegasus - Female) - 31 - Image Canterlot Royals (EQS) - 196 Caps, 90 Assists, 75 Goals
Rapid Dash began her career with the national team as a striker, but shifted to the midfield when Twilight Striker began to transform the national team's formation from a 3-4-3 to a 3-5-2. Since then, Rapid Dash's scoring numbers have declined, but she remains a threat to opponents on the attack as the national team's all-time assists leader. The sister of team captain Fire Dash, the pegasus has been a regular for the national team since the beginning and her abilities have kept her with the squad over the years.

Image
#32 - MF - Krystal (Unicorn - Female) - 23 - Image Crystopolis City (CRY) - 22 Caps, 9 Assists, 5 Goals
Along with Stardust and Rainbow Blitz, Krystal is a member of the midfield trio that helped the Little Ponies reach two consecutive Di Bradini Cup semifinals. Like Stardust, Krystal is quick, but the smaller unicorn is better at controlling the ball than her winged friend. Her size can put her at a disadvantage on headers, but her ability to steal the ball away from opposing midfielders nearly negates the minor disadvantage. At the club level, Krystal has already made a name for herself, playing a central role in Crystopolis City's Globe Cup quarterfinals campaign. A run unprecedented for a club from such a low-ranked association.

Image
#34 - MF - Stardust (Pegasus - Female) - 23 - Image Umber Lumber (FAC) - 26 Caps, 9 Assists, 6 Goals
She might be young, but she's still a threat to any team regardless of rank. Stardust excels at sprinting up the field when the opportunity presents itself and keeping her energy up late in the match. A deadly force in the Ponies' counterattacks, Stardust forces opponents to stay on their toes or watch her gallop off to the races. While overshadowed somewhat by Rainbow Blitz, Stardust has the potential to be a great midfielder and is expected to give the more established players on the senior squad a run for their money.

Image
#25 - MF - Ironhide (Dragon - Male) - 25 - Image Selyne City Athenians (NSI) - 39 Caps, 6 Assists, 7 Goals
Apple Jack might be the largest pony in the Equestrian midfield, but the largest player is easily Ironhide. With a kick that can rival those of top Equestrian forwards, the dragon is a nightmare for opponents to cover. Though not as large as some of his kin, Ironhide's height and weight advantage cannot be understated, helping offset the generally smaller size of most players on the Equestrian national team. When Ironhide left Everfree Forest HC two seasons ago for the Selyne City Athenians, he was just one of many Equestrians venturing to the Sunrise League. However, over the next season he became much more than that, leading the Athenians to a league title and individually leading the league in scoring as well. But Ironhide was not yet finished. Riding the scaled back of the Equestrian dragon, the Selyne City Athenians stormed through every opponent en route to the most shocking Champions' Cup title of all time. Though currently slated to be a back-up, Ironhide will undoubtedly be Twilight Striker's first choice for a midfield substitution.

Image
#15 - MF - Elaine Everdeen (Human - Female) - 24 - Image San Jose Sharks (NSI) - 19 Caps, 3 Assists, 2 Goals
The younger sister of veteran forward Katherine Everdeen, Elaine a promising star for the national team. With grace and agility, the younger Everdeen sister can race up and down the pitch at an impressive clip even in a nation of speedy equine midfielders. Though her endurance isn't nearly that of other Equestrian midfielders, Elaine Everdeen shouldn't be underestimated by her opponents. As a substitute, Elaine could be a lethal threat to teams already exhausted by the relentless Equestrian style of play and should be expected to come off the bench in the twilight of qualifying matches either to preserve a lead or give the Ponies another attacker.

Image
#39 - MF - Apple Cobbler (Earth Pony - Female) - 18 - Image Jungle Strike FC (VIL) - 4 Caps
That Apple Cobbler has been called up to the national team at the young age of 16 is a testament to how much talent and potential she has as a player. The impressiveness of the feat is only increased by the already existing plethora of Equestrian talent in the midfield. Though her lone cap thus far came in the final minutes of the Olympics group stage, Apple Cobbler has already begun to look capable of going hoof-to-toe with international level athletes. Over the next few years, Apple Cobbler seems likely to improve as a player and work towards a spot on the starting XI; but for now, she's with the Ponies mostly to learn.

Image
#31 - MF - Candace Rivers (Human - Female) - 26 - Image Umber Lumber (FAC) - 65 Caps, 6 Assists, 4 Goals
Young and talented, Candace Rivers has been making a push for a starting role ever since she first made the national team. However, with the current midfielders presenting one of the most-feared midfields in international hoofball and an army of world class reserves behind them, odds are Rivers won't be making the starting XI for a while. Until then, Candace Rivers will likely continue to act in the capacity which she has served in, as a dangerous bench player with the versatility to perform defensive and offensive tasks with ease.

Image
#12 - MF - Lightning Bolt (Pegasus - Male) - 26 - Image Canterlot Stars (EQS) - 47 Caps, 6 Assists, 4 Goals
Once hailed as the next great hoofballer from the Equestrian States, Lightning Bolt hasn't quite lived up to expectations. In the last couple years, the pegasus stallion has shown signs of improvement, offering another threat from the bench for Twilight Striker to use later in the match. His numbers might not reflect his value as an attacking midfielder, but Lightning Bolt shouldn't be taken lightly by teams struggling to contain the traditionally high-paced Equestrian attack.

Forwards
Image
#10 - FW - Fire Dash (Pegasus - Male) - 32 - Image Ponyville United (EQS) - 212 Caps, 30 Assists, 155 Goals - CAPTAIN
Team captain since its creation and all-time leader in caps and goals, Fire Dash is the unwavering leader of the national team both on and off the pitch. He might be getting older, but Fire Dash's numbers have never really felt the need to decline. As his name suggests, the Equestrian captain is fast. Very fast. Teams looking to beat the Equestrian States will have to cover Fire Dash well to shut down the Ponies' powerful offense, a task that has become only more difficult by the inclusion of Rainbow Blitz and Thunderlane on the squad. At the club level, Fire Dash has also been impressive, joining Starlight Sparkle in leading Ponyville United to six consecutive league titles and as far as the UICA Globe Cup group stage.

Image
#7 - FW - Thunderlane (Pegasus - Male) - 28 - Image Makosile United (VIL) - 144 Caps, 24 Assists, 52 Goals
Although Thunderlane might not be the most imposing figure on the Ponies' offense, his value to the team comes primarily in his versatility. With the passing and control ability of a midfielder, and the shooting prowess of a striker, Thunderlane is a well-rounded player with his best years in front of him. Yet opponents facing Thunderlane often overlook his abilities, focusing instead on the more obvious dangers from Fire Dash and Rainbow Blitz. It is in these matches where Thunderlane excels, and when Thunderlane excels, the Ponies are an extremely difficult team to beat.

Image
#28 - FW - Pristina Shine (Unicorn - Female) - 22 - Image Iturributa United (ITB) - 16 Caps, 1 Assist, 12 Goals
Pristina Shine's inclusion on the national team was anticipated by many, and the only surprise some have expressed is that she's not starting. When world-famous Iturributa United signed the young Equestrian forward to their team, the supporters were thrilled to finally see a pony starting for such a well-known club, but the move quickly became more than just a publicity stunt by the Iturributans. In one of the higher-ranked associations, on one of the best-known teams, Pristina Shine was a goal-scoring machine. By season's end the then 19 year-old Equestrian was third in the league in scoring, cementing her place on the national team. The Olympics were Pristina Shine's first challenge, and the unicorn exceeded all expectations once again. Averaging 0.67 goals per match, it's difficult to deny that the Equestrian States has yet another potential great on their team, adding a striker to complement the already-heralded midfield trio of Rainbow Blitz, Krystal, and Stardust.

Image
#6 - FW - Wither (Bat Pony - Female) - 24 - Image Soldarian FC (VAL) - 9 Caps, 1 Assist, 3 Goals
Description description description description description description description description description description description description description description description description description description description description description description description description description description description description description description.

Image
#30 - FW - Sonar (Bat Pony - Male) - 24 - Image Matthew City Senators (NSI) - 42 Caps, 6 Assists, 20 Goals
Young and talented, Sonar was the first bat pony to appear on the Ponies' roster and has since proven that his inclusion was no mistake by Twilight Striker. Sonar made his presence felt in both of the last two qualifying campaigns, scoring critical goals to give the Ponies the boost they needed to make it to the finals. The bat pony has spent most of his professional career with the Matthew City Senators, which has been a force near the top of the table for years thanks in part to Sonar's contributions.

Image
#23 - FW - Thunderbolt (Pegasus - Female) - 26 - Image Canterlot Stars (EQS) - 19 Caps, 2 Assists, 3 Goals
Thunderbolt is half of one of four sibling pairs to play for the Equestrian national team, being the sister of midfielder Lightning Bolt. While not as decorated as her twin brother, Thunderbolt's spot on the national team is relatively secure, giving the Ponies another valuable reserve on the offense. With speed almost equal to that of her aptly-named brother Lightning Bolt, Thunderbolt is more skilled in connecting the midfield to the forwards and has doubled as an attacking midfielder for the Canterlot Stars in United League matches. Like Thunderlane, she is a versatile and multi-talented forward who can contribute to the Ponies' devastatingly quick counterattacks.

Image
#29 - FW - Katherine Everdeen (Human - Female) - 30 - Image San Jose Sharks (NSI) - 23 Caps, 1 Assist, 2 Goals
The older of the two Everdeen sisters, Katherine (or Kitty as her friends and admirers call her) is very fast and very agile. She doesn't have the endurance of most equine stars, but makes up for it with her speed and accuracy in shooting. The elder Everdeen meshes excellently with her younger sister, and it's not uncommon to see the two come on at the same time as substitutes. Katherine was a recent signing for the San Jose Sharks of Sunrise League One, where she led the team in scoring and finished tied for fifth for most goals behind fellow Equestrians Ironhide and Sonar in her first season there.

Coaches & Staff
Image
Head Coach - Image Twilight Striker (Unicorn - Female) - 47
The head coach of the national team and perhaps the pony most responsible for its very existence is Twilight Striker. One of the first hoofball stars to ever capture the Equestrian public's hearts, Striker was a breathtaking forward in her day, but unfortunately was never able to wear the purple and orange as a player. But refusing to hold the endless delays of the administration against the Equestrian people, Twilight Striker agreed to coach the team in the Baptism of Fire and has been the Ponies' leader ever since. While she might not have the same prestige as other national team coaches from other top-ranked nations, Twilight Striker is more than competent and has a brilliant mind for offensive strategy.

Image
Assistant Coach - Image Mad Dash (Pegasus - Male) - 49
Like Twilight Striker, Mad Dash was a top player in the Equestrian Premier League before the national team's formation. Inducted with the top Equestrian coach into the Equestrian States Hoofball Hall of Fame's inaugural class, Mad Dash is primarily responsible for training the Ponies' midfielders and has been approached before by several national teams looking for head coaches. However, the pegasus has remained loyal to his friend Twilight Striker over the years and is well-respected by the Equestrian public.

Image
Assistant Coach - Image Hat Trix (Unicorn - Male) - 51
Along with Mad Dash and Twilight Striker, Hat Trix has remained with the Equestrian national team ever since he was brought on board by the former NESC to coach the team in the Baptism of Fire. While Hat Trix was a striker in his playing years, the unicorn has displayed a surprising ability to teach and hone the talents of the Equestrian defenders. Previous campaigns' struggles on defense have occasionally led to the media calling for his firing or reassignment to a more appropriate post, calls which increased drastically in the aftermath of the World Cup 64 finals.

Image
Goalkeeping Coach - Image Fire Blossom (Unicorn - Male) - 46
Training the talented Equestrian goalkeepers is Fire Blossom, whose exploits as a keeper in the EPL earned him much respect among hoofball fans nationwide. Though Fire Blossom rarely speaks to the media for any reason whatsoever, his early statements doubting Mac Stevenson's ability to replace High Soarin' back in World Cup 61 qualifying made him look like a genius when Stevenson's selection turned out to be one of Twilight Striker's greatest blunders. Likewise, predicting and guiding the development of Gentle Breeze into a true world-class goalkeeper have brought attention to Fire Blossom's eye for potential and knack for coaching.

Image
Scout - Image Diamond Star (Unicorn - Female) - 44
Few outside of the Equestrian States would be able to correctly identify the nation's top scout, but Diamond Star has a fairly impressive résumé, being the first to spot the potential of stars such as Rainbow Blitz, Pristina Shine, Cloudchaser, and Thunderlane. Diamond Star specializes in locating and recruiting domestic talent for the Equestrian national team.

Image
Scout - Image Golden Hooves (Earth Pony - Female) - 55
Unlike Diamond Star, Golden Hooves' talents lie more in scouting the abilities of foreign players and how they match up against those of the Ponies. The earth pony mare is particularly well-known for her recruiting of foreign prospects for the Canterlot Stars and Ponyville United clubs.

Image
Fitness Coach - Image Craig Jackson (Human - Male) - 44
Hired in the midst of the injury-filled disaster that was World Cup 63 qualifying, Craig Jackson was the first human member of the Ponies' staff and has done well in the last several years keeping the Equestrian States relatively injury-free. While fitness coaches generally don't get much respect or attention from the press, Jackson's natural gift for keeping players of so many species healthy cannot be overlooked or scoffed upon.

Team Strategy

Image

The Ponies' most-used formation is easily the slightly modified 3-5-2, preferred by Head Coach Twilight Striker because of the strength and dominance of the Equestrian midfielders. Thanks to the versatility of the Equestrian States' players, the formation gives the Ponies the ability to shift quickly from the offense to the defense and vice versa. Aside from the formation itself, the Equestrians have a number of definitive strengths and weaknesses.

First, the Ponies are among the world's fastest and most durable teams, using their natural advantages to tire out opponents. With those two traits as the defining characteristics of the Equestrian style of play, the squad excels at producing chances in the latter stages of the match. But while the attack dominates the second half, opposing squads have occasionally found success going all-out at the start of the match in an attempt to build an insurmountable lead.

Another area in which the Equestrian States has traditionally dominated is in the aerial battles for headers. While the Ponies are generally shorter than their opponents, the team is often credited with impressive leaping abilities (particularly among the pegasai players). Controlling headers makes the team lethal on corner kicks, and opponents looking to defeat the Equestrians must limit the number conceded to the Ponies or else face a barrage of dangerous short-range shots from the Ponies' attackers.

On Species and Equestrian Hoofball
The Equestrian States is a nation of incredible diversity. When many countries make this kind of statement, they are referring only to racial matters dealing with differences in skin color or culture. But the Equestrian States takes diversity to a whole new level, with dozens of sapient species living alongside each other in harmony. From pegasai to griffons, and humans to dragons, the Equestrian States is among the most diverse nations known to exist. But diversity has also had a unique and intriguing impact on the playing of sports in the Equestrian States, and hoofball is no exception. In the following paragraphs, the natural strengths, weaknesses, and tendencies of each prominent species in the Equestrian States will be explored, offering those unfamiliar with the Equestrian States a chance to explore the wonderful diversity that makes the Equestrian States a great country and gives our beloved national hoofball team a versatility that few others can hope to match.

Home Stadiums
Royal Equestria Stadium

Image

Location: Canterlot
Capacity: 98,625
Tenants: Equestrian States National Team

Not far from the traditional home of the Equestrian States' government, Royal Equestria Stadium is one of the newest sports venues in the nation and can seat nearly 100,000 ponies with standing room for thousands more. Built to replace the aging Equestria Dome as the official home of the national teams, Royal Equestria Stadium is a reflection of the country, truly representing its traditions, natural beauty, and modernity. With a roof of magically-sculpted crystal, the stadium is awe-inspiring in its grandeur and has allowed the Equestrian States to show its most appealing side to the rest of the world. Royal Equestria Stadium has hosted a number of major events, including the 57th Cup of Harmony final, the 21st World Cup of Hockey finals, and the annual United Cup final.

Diamond Park

Image

Location: Stalliongrad
Capacity: 75,000
Tenants: Stalliongrad HC

Though Stalliongrad is not as impressive a city as Canterlot, Diamond Park is one of the most stunning accomplishments of modern equine engineering. Built into the very sides of the mountains, a carved overhang provides shelter from the sun, and unicorn magic gives the rocky stadium protection from destructive rainfall when the Ministry of Weather Control schedules it. Named for the seams of gems and precious metals that can still be seen crisscrossing the roof, Diamond Park is a beautiful stadium that stands out in a city that has become wealthy through nearby mines. (OOC: I'm aware that the above image does not fit with the description given. Add one or two tiers and replace the overhang with one made of rock, and you've got a mental image of Diamond Park.)

Elements Stadium

Image

Location: Ponyville
Capacity: 48,750
Tenants: Ponyville United

Ponyville might not look like a commercial hub, but the city's traditional town-like architecture hides its true status. Pleasant is the best word to describe Ponyville and its citizens, and the seamless incorporation of modern technology and conveniences allows visitors to feel at ease when in town. Centrally-located between Canterlot, Everfree, Manehattan, and (to a degree) Cloudsdale, the city also serves as a transportation hub, thriving on the Equestrian States' booming tourism industry. Elements Stadium itself is named after the Elements of Harmony, the guiding principles of the majority faith of the nation: Harmonism. Visiting fans often enjoy the stadium's central position alongside the crystal-clear Mane River, not far from some of Ponyville's largest and nicest hotels.

Wild Grounds

Image

Location: Everfree
Capacity: 56,500
Tenants: Everfree Forest HC

To foreign visitors Everfree might seem just like any of the world's jungle cities (albeit with a large population of non-humans), but for Equestrians it's the strangest place in the country. Surrounded by the dense Everfree Forest for which it is named, Everfree boasts the largest population of non-equines of any Equestrian city, and is home to a sizable community of humans. Elsewhere in the Equestrian States, the pegasai weather ponies control the clouds and weather patterns of the nation, allowing Equestrian farmers to take advantage of optimal conditions for agriculture. But in the Everfree Forest, the weather is nigh unpredictable and difficult to predict. Added to the presence of countless predatory creatures, the Forest is a forbidding place for ponies. Humans and other non-equine sapients were less afraid of the Everfree's bizarre weather patterns (though the hydras and manticores were still a deterrent) and ventured into the Forest, eventually stumbling upon a clearing which evolved into the modern city of Everfree. Wild Grounds itself is appropriately named, being home to the ever-so-slightly crazed supporters of Everfree Forest HC and located near the very edges of the Forest itself. With a breathtaking view of the city, Wild Grounds offers one of the best atmospheres for hoofball in the country and the city has been a regular stop for the national team ever since the Ponies began to play outside of Canterlot.

Sky-High Coliseum

Image

Location: Cloudsdale
Capacity: 45,000
Tenants: Cloudsdale Flyers, Cloudsdale Colts

Like many hoofball venues in the Equestrian States, Sky-High Coliseum's name was given for a reason. Located in the pegasai-dominated city of Cloudsdale, Sky-High Coliseum is a nice 2.5 kilometers above ground, with nothing besides the clouds separating it from the grassy plains below. Made of the clouds that it is named after, Cloudsdale is not a city for those who are afraid of heights or magic, the latter due to the necessity of spells for non-pegasai to walk upon the clouds. To accommodate foreign supporters who are not so keen on being zapped with magic by a unicorn mage, large zeppelin-like balloons based in Ponyville are employed by the Hoofball Association that will carry a limited number of fans above Sky-High Coliseum to where they can safely observe the match without the use of magic. Owing to the malleable nature of clouds, the stadium can also be expanded to seat up to 65,000 spectators, though such additional seating is only used when a massive crowd is anticipated. Sky-High Coliseum's use as a venue for international competitions has been criticized in the past, as the hesitation of foreign supporters to sit in the stadium itself generally allows the Equestrians to gain an almost unbeatable home-field advantage.

Team Strategy

Image

In many ways, the style of hoofball played by the Crystal Empire is similar to that of the Equestrian States, being based on speed, endurance, and the natural advantages of equine athletes. However, there are a couple of key differences between the two teams' approaches. First, the Crystal Empire is more defensive than their Equestrian counterparts, using a slightly-modified 4-4-2 formation and relying on the midfielders to provide additional defensive support if needed. This conservative strategy allows the Crystal Knights to better weather the early all-out attacks that have felled the Ponies in the past, leaving them rested and capable of staging second half surges similar to those utilized by the Equestrian States.

Furthermore, the Crystal Empire lacks the species diversity that the Equestrian States is so well known for, being over 98% inhabited by crystal ponies. While they may lack some of the natural advantages held by other sapient equines, the crystal ponies should still not be taken lightly by humanoid players. Like other ponies, crystal ponies are generally shorter than their humanoid opponents but make up for it with impressive jumping abilities (though not nearly as awe-inspiring as those of the pegasai). Finally, while sapient equines rarely "play dirty", crystal ponies take clean play to a whole new level with their wholehearted devotion to the elegance and beauty of the game.

Home Stadium
Image
Imperial Arena

Location: Crystopolis
Capacity: 69,740
Tenants: Crystopolis City

Located adjacent to the towering Crystal Palace, Imperial Arena was constructed shortly after the Crystal Empire reappeared to the north of Magical Equestria as a part of the nation's bid to host the Equestria Games. In the decade or so since the games were held, many other sports competitions have taken place in the Empire's largest stadium and several prominent local hoofball clubs have also taken up residence.

A multipurpose indoor venue, Imperial Arena's main field is encircled by a track, somewhat limiting the seating of supporters, though additional accommodations will be added to reduce the distance separating the fans from the field. Additionally, it should be noted that pickaxes, hammers, chisels, and other tools brought into the Crystal Empire will be confiscated and checked upon entry to the nation as stealing chunks of the Empire's predominantly crystal architecture is generally frowned upon by the local authorities.

Eura: 68th World Cup Qualifying Squad

Manager: Kelly Sporadic (Audioslava), 62 years old

Kelly Sporadic first rose to stardom as a young playmaker for the Silexhera national football side, back in the qualifiers for World Cup 46, and quickly made his name as a star player for XXV de Maio in Cafundeu, where he would spend most of his career. He retired after helping Silexhera qualify for their first and only World Cup finals in cycle 48.

Kelly became manager of the Audioslavia national team for the World Cup 59 cycle, aged just forty-four thanks to the slower Cafunduese time compared to that of Audioslavia, and with a modest history of management and coaching in Cafunduese club football. His first four months brought a level of success that utterly flabbergasted his employers, reaching the final of AOCAF 34 with a bare-bones team of amateurs, including his half-Cafunduese, half-Silexheran son Weverton, who qualified for the Audioslavia national team through means unknown. He followed the AOCAF 34 final with victory in the Baptism of Fire, but could only lead the Bulls to a modest 3-3-6 record in qualifying for WC59, finishing a disappointing 6th from 7 teams, following that with a first-round exit in the Cup of Harmony.

Kelly bounced back for cycle 60, and lead a rejuvinated Audioslavia team to AOCAF 35, where they went one better than their previous foray in the tournament and emerged victorious, beating Andossa se Mitrin Vega 2-0 in the final. World Cup 60 qualifying would prove to be another steep learning curve, as the Bulls finished mid-table in their group, but the side would record their best Cup of Harmony run later on, reaching the semi-finals before falling to Taeshan.

Kelly had lead a fledgling, mostly amateur Audioslavia to two championships, a final and a semi-final in his first two cycles in charge of Audioslavia - a fantastic feat - but things would begin to turn sour for the Silexheran in cycle 61.

The Bulls failed to get out of the group in AOCAF 36, failed to improve on their previous performance in World Cup qualifying, and were all-but ousted from the Cup of Harmony after a heavy defeat to Kinitaria and a subsequent draw at Sargossa. The Audioslavian media, always quick to jump on NT managers, jumped on Kelly, and the Silexheran decided to call it quits before the final game of the tournament, thanking the supporters, players and FFA for ten eventful years as manager.

Kelly became manager of Audioslavia's former BoF rivals Licentiapacisterra for cycle 62, finding immediate success with a championship in the form of the Campionato Esportiva. Kelly then did with the cyan what he couldn't do for the Bulls - take them to the World Cup finals, qualifying via a playoff. The side amassed a paltry point in the finals, but the side would take heart from their position at the top table of world football, and had high hopes to retain their CE title but, in a battle between two former-champions, lost out in the first round to the awesomely named - if modestly talented - THRILLEDGE.

From here, like in Audioslavia, things would turn a little sour. The cyan struggled in their WC63 qualifying group, finally finishing second before entering into, and losing, a playoff with eventual runners-up Starblaydia. The Licentiapacisterran FA decided they'd seen enough of the Audioslavian as NT boss, and announced his contract would not be renewed after the next Campionato Esportiva.

Now 60, Kelly tends to play a solid, defensive style of play focused on technique and maintaining possession, no doubt moulded that way after years of having to get a bunch of amateur Audioslavians to avoid humiliatingly large defeats. His 4-5-1 formation he used at Audioslavia has been retained by the claret and green and used to great effect in the WC championship winning cycle, while Kelly's own interpretation of the system, at Licen, has morphed into a more fluid 4-1-4-1.

He signed on as Euran national team manager with a three year contract to the great surprise of commentators after the Copa Rushmori that preceded the qualifying stages of the 64th World Cup, when Eura were 13th in the world and attempting to regain the sort of form that propelled them to the final of the 60th World Cup. Three years senior of the man he replaces, Ben Randall, Sporadic has to prove now that he can work his magic again with a team that plays a free flowing, attractive style that he would appreciate – but with a higher tempo and a more attacking nature. Perhaps his biggest problem will be tightening up the defence.

After one contract renewal, two World Cup campaigns and a Copa Rushmori tournament, Kelly Sporadic is sitting in a fairly secure position as Eura manager. World Cup 64 qualifying was an underwhelming debut for Sporadic and Kallstrom as they got used to the system, before an embarrassing finals performance saw them out at the group stage after failing to win a single game. But Sporadic rung some changes before the World Cup 65 campaign and this qualifying campaign went better, recovering from a shaky start to give Eura the second best record in qualifying of any team that year.

His side recovered from a disappointing performance against Mytannion in the opening game of the finals to record a legendary victory over Audioslavia, a notable personal victory for Sporadic that possibly saved his job, before another win over the Licentian Isles. Eura went out in the round of sixteen, but only after the Holy Empire parked the bus to earn a 0-0 draw and win on penalties. Poor results followed in Eura’s long awaited return from exile in the Copa Rushmori and in Olympic football, but progress is being made and only a failure to qualify put Sporadic’s position in jeopardy. In his four years as boss, he has built a big rapport with not only the team but the Euran fans and people, who almost treat him like one of their own – a surrogate for Ben Randall. That love was cemented by the greatest achievement of all; a World Cup win. These are truly great times for Euran football and Kelly Sporadic. The mood was tempered slightly by a 4-1 defeat in the final of Copa Rushmori 16, after a hard fought campaign, but a respectable third place finish at the following Confederations Cup against the same opposition got Eura back on track.

(Credit to Audioslava for writing up most of this biography.)

Assistant: Johannes Kallstrom (Polar Islandstates), 49 years old

Signing his contract on the same day as Sporadic, also for three years, Kallstrom is the latest Polarian import to Euran football, reflecting the close admiration by Eurans of their hardy island nature and going the other way an admiration of a culture where football is deeply ingrained as a passion rather than a sport. He will be working in close conjunction with his subordinate and Head Coach, Louis Watson. Kallstrom’s role is important covering for Sporadic on occasion and playing perhaps a more pivotal role than most assistant managers do in relation to their main men. Much like in his time assistant managing the Terns, he has a big say in selection, tactical chemistry, discipline, maintaining extremely high fitness levels and a superb ability to judge the strengths and weaknesses of the opposition.

Head Coach: Louis Watson (Eura), 48 years old

Watson has been on the coaching staff for over a decade, and plays a key role in squad selection and maintaining discipline. He has been approached by top foreign clubs for vacant manager positions several times, yet he continues to act as Sporadic’s enforcer and motivator. Largely credited with Eura's fantastic new generation of youth talent, despite a poor showing at the last Di Bradini Cup.

My opponent, if they RP first, may do the following:

Choose my goalscorers – YES
Godmod scoring events – YES
RP injuries to my players – YES
Godmod injuries to my players – YES (But only how the injury happens, NOT the extent of the injury)
Hand out yellow cards to my players – YES
Hand out red cards to my players – YES
Godmod other events – YES, provided you keep events within the realms of realism, so no deaths etc. If I have to RP one of my goals as coming off a goose in mid-air or anything else I deem ridiculous I will eat your fucking soul. Generic last minute supergoals from 500 yards/goalkeepers scoring hat-tricks will be given the same distasteful reaction. In fact, I should probably just say ‘fuck you’ in advance. Suck it world!

The Paradystopi Lymryk Isles

Manager:
Steven Nine-Threeby (Yveltal)
Formerly 793B, the ex-manager of Yveltalian club, Lord Yveltal FC has secretly defected to The Lymryk Isles. Though making the most of the opportunity arising from Peter Pasternik's retirement, perhaps accepting to coach a national team in a major international tournament is not the best disguise even if you do adopt an unimaginative pseudonym. Little is known about his previous experience beyond what the Yveltalian propaganda-driven press choose to release but his attack-minded style works well with the players he has available. He is a particular fan of making use of the pteronurian talent, even if he has a peculiar habit of referring to them as 'oshawotts'.

(first team in bold)
Goalkeepers:
Barrington Farquharson-Smythe - GK, #1 - (of Tiknonsenš Palace, Human)
Damien Wellington-Hyde - GK, #30 - (San Batiste Sea Lions (Barunia), Human)
The Lymryker keepers are a steady pair, both with plenty of experience domestically and internationally. They're accustomed to the nature of the team to press forward and are particularly capable in one-on-one situations because of this. However, due to the pressing nature of the team's strategy, they're still very susceptible to counter-attacks.

Defenders:
Jefferson Thatcher - LB, #2 - (of Kwyntayn Rangers, Human)
Runt Waggledancer - LB, #15 - (of The Sea-Pteronurians Alliance, Pteronurian)
Longtail Surfsrisingtide - CB, #4 - (of The Sea-Pteronurians Alliance, Pteronurian)
Squinty Killerofcaiman - CB, #5 - (of Tiknonsenš Palace, Pteronurian)
Flappy Springstepper - CB, #31 - (of Po City, Pteronurian)
Wilfred Bunt - RB, #17 - (of Djnamo Sabrjk (Paradystopia), Human)
The defensive line-up are an able bunch, even if they'll spend a great deal of the time playing as midfielders in accordance will 793B's, we mean Steven's, stratagem. Lymryker defenders are known for their speed, so just because you get behind them, doesn't mean you'll have any easy run at goal.

Midfielders:

Flappy Likessquidnowandthen - DM, #21 - (of East Railway (Astograth), Pteronurian)
Flappy Sunsinger - CM, #32 - (of The Sea-Pteronurians Alliance, Pteronurian)
Nipper Littlepaws - LM, #33 - (of The Sea-Pteronurians Alliance, Pteronurian)
Laurence Algernon Oldwoodgate - LM, #8 - (of Tiknonsenš Palace, Human)
Squealsalot Bigclaws - CM, #9 - (of Kolperiskonjf Athelhetik (Paradystopia), Pteronurian)
George Farrington Kwytaynstate - CM, #24 - (of Tiknonsenš Palace, Human)
Runt Jigglehead - RM, #18 - (of Djnamo Sabrjk (Paradystopia), Pteronurian)
Anthony Mark Daniel Bostick - RM, #11 - (of Tiknonsenš Palace, Human)
Since moving to the Astograth league, Flappy Likessquidnowandthen has become a keystone in the Lymryker midfield. He will act as a form of attack coordinator standing at the head of the pressing defense and looking for those openings, often leading the charge himself as the two centre midfielders adopt more attacking roles.

Forwards:
Charlie Evertherespectible - CF, #14 - (of The Artisans (Paradystopia), Human)
Wobbly Clambanger - CF, #13 - (of Nhorton vo Mirrun (Paradystopia), Pteronurian) - Captain
Whirligig Waterdart - CF, #34 - (of The Sea-Pteronurians Alliance, Pteronurian)
Elvis Sandbottom - STR, #35 - (of Po City, Human)
Flappy Somersaulter - STR, #36 - (of Po Pteronurians, Pteronurian)
Whirligig Whoopsy - STR, #37 - (of Siliriims Pteronurians, Pteronurian)
The striker formation is a mixture of the reliable Wobbly Clambanger and a mixture of young talent. This works surprisingly well given 793B's, we mean Steven's tactics. The young players, keen to prove themselves internationally will tirelessly seek opportunities whilst Wobbly can hold back a little and keep a watchful eye on the proceedings.

Image
Formation: 3-1-2-1-3
Style Modifier: +5

793B, we mean Steven, has implemented a new strategy for the Lymrykers which he refers to as the Double Team, Focus Energy and Body Slam. This is an all-out attacking strategy whereby the forwards make a variety of darting runs to hopefully create holes in the opposition defense whilst the defenders (and goalkeeper ... !) maintain possession near the halfway line. When a potential is spotted, the defenders will charge at it hopefully supported by the midfielders and forwards. They will drive at this spot with all their might hoping to penetrate and get a shot at the goal or, if the opposition defense is sufficiently outnumbered, commit the keeper and pass it around them to ensure a score.
Defensively, they have no strategy believing that attack is the best form of defense.

Bare in mind that this team are incredibly difficult to predict and plan for. The otters have their own language which is incomprehensible to even the keenest human ears. For example, this is what the Lymryker team will sound like relaying orders. This in addition to their chaotic tactics mean that opposing teams will mostly have to rely upon reactions and improvisatory football to counteract them.

How we play:
The human members of the team play as, well, humans. Using feet, head, etc. I don't need to explain this to you.

The pteronurian players play 'football' a little differently. Generally, a pteronurian player will use their head more than any other part of their body especially for dribbling and then their tail for more powerful passes and shots. Due to the nature of this style of play, helmets have been allocated to minimise injuries. The pteronurians wear no other kit as, as they put it, they are not as prudish as their human counterparts. They will probably never use their paws. Despite being capable of standing and walking bipedally, they rarely do and scamper around in a way akin to a ferret.
The pteronurians are surprisingly nippy on land when they choose to be. From corners or other such set-pieces, expect crosses at difficult heights for humans. As your defender (assuming they're human ... ) tries to decide whether to head the ball or get their leg up high, a springing pteronurian will have probably already bounded through and headed goal-ward.

Also, do not be alarmed should you find a semi-chewed fish outside your changing room, or find yourself being presented one. This is a gesture of friendship and goodwill amongst pteronurians. However, feel free to freak out should one of our human players exhibit this behaviour.

Feel free to TG me (at Paradystopia, for a prompter response) with any queries regarding the strange and wonderful inhabitants of the Lymryk Isles.

Home Stadium:
The Lymryk Isles home stadium is the FSA in Aflyannafleeinnaflu, The stadium is a modest affair with a ridiculous name. First, a little history about the city. Aflyannafleeinnaflu's origins were that of a humans-only city, populated by the humans who opposed the Homo-Ptero Equality Act of Tuesday (date and time are an ambiguous affair in the Lymryks. Beyond what day of the week it is, few people care about specifics). One of the cultural exports they brought with them was sport and the city quickly grew to the country's sporting capital. This only served to encourage young otters seeking a career in this field. Many of them braved the outright racism to compete alongside the best sportsmen and women in the Lymryks, to prove themselves or outperform their human counterparts. This competitive air only further fueled the sporting scene and soon the 'humans-only' city was beginning to be swamped by aspiring otters. In a feeble attempt to dissuade more refugees, the city was renamed to, the outrageous,
Aflyannafleeinnafluwertrappedohwotcudthaydoosedtheflylettusfleesedthefleelettusflysothayfluthruaflorintheflu.

This is still the city's official name as unfortunately for the humans, the otters loved the new quirky name much better than the old name of Shyton. Quickly, the sheer nightmare this action created was realised but the name stuck. Today, it is commonly abbreviated to Aflyannafleeinnaflu but some places keep the full version. Usually places that had paid a small fortune on sign printing, such as the FSA, or to give it it's proper name,
Football Stadium of Aflyannafleeinnafluwertrappedohwotcudthaydoosedtheflylettusfleesedthefleelettusflysothayfluthruaflorintheflu

The ground seats a modest 2,500 with standing room for another c.2,000. If you're planning to bring a large group of fans to any games in here, expect a moderate degree of chaos.

Although the black strip is Paradystopia's official 'home' kit, the team will play in the pink away strip as often as they can. The rumour is that superstitious Mukalo Rotanapai has come to the conclusion the team's overall results are better when the 'away' kit is used. Therefore the team will generally play in pink.

Paradystopia

Management

Image
Manager: Mukalo Rotanapai
After winning the post in an ill-conceived reality TV show during the eighth Campionato Esportiva, Mukalo has completely revamped the national side bringing in a lot of young players and completely overhauling the tactics. The 52 year old Vaian has 19 years experience in the top flight of Vaian football. 11 of those with Wakita United with whom he achieved 3 league titles. It is hoped he can bring some of this success to the Paradystopi team, building upon their third place finish in the Campionato Esportiva IX
Image
Assistant Manager: Chester Kat
Mukalo's assistant was a fellow competitor on the aforementioned show. However, during the filming, the pair struck up a strong friendship and the rest as they say, is history. Hailing from the small Paradystopi colony of Mousebane Islet, Chester was previously manager and captain of the team Scratchpost Hillock.

Goalkeepers

Kjn Volgjsrhaad #1
F.C. Endeavour (Apox) – age 32
A permanent fixture of the Paradystopi football team and now it's first choice for captain, Kjn is most commonly known for his huge stature and trademark grizzly beard. At just over 7' tall (c. 2.15m), he is truly dominating in the air and his arm-span alone can cover a large percentage of the goal. He stereotypes the term 'gentle giant' with a very calm demeanor which is sometimes mistaken for passivity. A workhorse who leads by example.
Booch Kumping #22
Djnamo Sabrjk – age 30
Despite the perennial argument over whether Kinshish is or should be a de facto part of Paradystopia, the Kinshish goalkeeper Booch is the nation's usual second choice. Booch has had little opportunity to play in the national team colours owing to being constantly in Kjn's shadow but with being goalie at Paradystopi regular performers Djnamo Sabrjk, his credentials are well in order.
Jon Proud #26
The Artisans - age 26
Given what he's up against, Jon has accepted more of an apprentice role with the national team. A good prospect for the future if a little rough 'round the edges presently.

Defenders

Perri Mournwinter #16
Black Star ve Kwjg – LWB/LB - age 24
This young defender is beginning to make waves at Black Star. Though a little heavy-handed with the aggression (which many attribute to some Communadi lineage), the passion he exudes undeniable. A competent defender and a dangerous wing-back
Rhosh Joyles #19
Whilliumiborough Swagger – LB - age 24
Rhosh is a cautious young man who will stick to the task at hand as though his life depends upon it. A little cumbersome with possession but good at dispossession often more by luck than judgement.
Marvin Marvkinson #23
Stivarnel GU (Earent) - CB – age 25
'Marv' is a indefatigable prankster. Chirpy and the eternal optimist, Despite being a technically able defender, he likes to push forward and challenge opponents with an array of tricks. Results can however, vary.
Edward Braithe #3
Nhorton vo Mirrun - CB – age 30
Edward is one of the old guard now and a solid player. Strong and strategically-minded, he can see and quell threats before they begin. Stoic in his approach, he has good chemistry with Kjn and the pair can choreograph a steadfast defense.
Astrall Standstall #4
Djnamo Sabrjk – CB - age 28
Another seasoned international, Astrall can at times be a little wayward. Frequently he'll sacrifice positioning in order to challenge a player. A bit of an oddball but generally good-natured and a respected defender despite his tactical short-comings.
Evelyn Paradys #2
Adi Saa Academicals – CB - age 29
Originally Communadi, Evelyn (and several others) defected to Paradystopi during the brouhaha of the Esportivan war. She has no problems with being seen as a Communadi stereotype and often plays up to it in a twisted humour sort of way. Strong, aggressive, single-minded and precise, she is arguable the best defender in Paradystopia currently.
Hari Selk #14
Nhorton vo Mirrun – RB - age 26
Hari is another player, like Booch, who seems doomed to spending his entire international career on the bench or playing the closing minutes of games. Nippy and good in the air, his usual use is as an additional goal threat in close games without sacrificing a back four.
Rhuth Savhis #28
Black Star ve Kwjg - RB/CB – age 27
Rhuth is an interesting personality. Her pinpoint long-passing and natural talent as a playmaker make her more akin to a midfielder. Quiet, thoughtful and somewhat of an activist. She turned down a transfer to the Lhadyfee Artisans on the grounds she believes an all-female team needlessly sexist.

Midfielders

Ranjeev Vhornam #5
Dzias Riot - CDM – age 23
'Jeeves' has a little experience now within the national team and is maturing into a fine defensive midfielder. Technically, a solid defender although his slight build leaves him lacking the raw strength necessary for a full back. Not afraid to have a speculative effort at goal even if his accuracy leaves a lot to be desired.
Rhoddri Tuz'rirhan #24
Alsabaszi - CDM – age 27
The second defensive midfielder on the roster is a real brute. A relentless powerhouse whose tackles can often be felt in the stands. Rhoddri is most often used as a pre-defensive wall when the match plan revolves around maintaining a lead.
Khalvin Horros #25
Dzias Riot - LM – age 24
Khalvin is a quick wing player with a decent cross. Sadly over-shadowed by Ms. Khayr, Khalvin is a capable midfielder with an infectious optimism. He'll be happy with 30 seconds on the pitch and will give 110% for every moment.
Khorinnha Khayr #33
Rogglebo TU (Earent) – LM/LCM - age 22
Following a sensational debut season with Whilliumiborough, Khorinnha won young player of the season within the Paradystopi league. Agile and skillful, she typifies the renowned flair of this club. More than happy to challenge opposing players but also knowing the correct moment to loop in a cross. A threat to any defense.
Morgana Foloris #7
Gwinevra Barbarians (Apox) - CM/RCM – age 28
Since defecting from the Commune, Morgana has become a driving force within the Artisan squad and a respected Paradystopi midfielder. Not quite as brusque as her country-mate, Evelyn Paradys, she is still headstrong and powerful. A meticulous tactician, she is often the vocal force upon the pitch.
Yani Flodrantezt'rirhan #8
Whilliumiborough Swagger - CM – age 29
Yani is a vitriolic player, aggressive and hot-tempered. His major attributes are his dribbling speed and strength in the air. After a lacklustre season with the Jimmies, he's be lucky to see any decent time on the field this time around.
Kharon Ohltfeld #21
Nhorton vo Mirrun – CM/CDM - age 23
Having played his first season on the Nhorton first team, Kharon is beginning to make a name for himself in Paradystopi football. An ebullient personality but a calm head when it matters. He's also shaping up to be a skilled set-piece taker.
Sjmon d'Kolperiskonjf #12
Flying Jellyfish (Farfadillis) – RM/RWB - age 24
Originally a defensive midfielder with a penchant for playing out wide, Sjmon has had a good season with Black Star and is looking to not waste a chance to play internationally. Agile and confident and with a good long pass, he'll be hoping to secure a permanent first team spot.
Jsha St. Dhads #41
Lords Dwellings - RW – age 21
Jsha (pronounced eye-sha) is arguably the most curious selection for the squad. The nineteen year old from a second division club being practically unknown. Mukalo Rotanapai's reasoning, 'She's the best right winger Paradystopia currently has.' You know what?, he's got a point ...
H.R.H. Princess Jojo of the Kinshishish #15
Crystopolis City (The Crystal Empire) – CAM/CM - age 20
The youngest of the Kinshishish princesses, Jojo is the archetypal tomboy. From an early age she reveled in competing against her older brother and was frequently admonished for her 'unbefitting behaviour' of challenging the local Kinshishish children to sporting contests. After been accepted into the Lhadyfee Artisan academy, she has begun to flourish as a footballer and if she continues to progress as the same rate, a long and illustrious career.
Viaddin Tarcka #13
Djnamo Sabrjk – CAM - age 29
Viaddin Tarcka is Paradystopia's most well known footballer. Highly respected amongst his peers and an excellent midfielder. Viaddin has twice turned down the captaincy of the national team on the grounds that he wouldn't want the responsibility to affect his game. A long-shot specialist, accurate passer, clever technician. Viaddin is a truly great all-round player.

Forwards

Ghengjs Aafjlh #27
Red Star ve Mirrun – age 28
Another permanent reserve player, Ghengjs is strong and tall, providing defenders with plenty of problems from corners and set-pieces. A little sluggish in comparison to the other forwards, Ghengjs makes up for this with a blisteringly powerful shot which, if on target, can catch dozing defenses off guard.
Schlappi Dindong #37
Hoxplohsiv Rastred'Madaa – age 18
Schlappi is a young Kinshishish who's beginning to prove himself as a future talent at the Madaai club. Often described as the next Luke Benjamin, he disputes the claims. He hopes to make his own name in football and break free of the conparison.
Luke Benjamin #10
Nhorton vo Mirrun - STR – age 23
Having become somewhat of a veteran of international football for Paradystopia at a young age, Luke is heralded to go down in the history books as one of Paradystopia's greatest players. A dangerous turn of pace, an accurate and powerful shot and a composed demeanor, Luke is the talisman for Paradystopi glory.
Jay-jay Jabez #30
Inland Peaks FC (Vilita) – STR/CF - age 20
Jay-jay really is an unknown quantity. Youthful exuberance and seemingly limitless energy are the two main factors in his favour. However, when he plays well, he's among the best young strikers in the game. On a bad day, he'll be lucky to complete a pass successfully.
Dalila ve'de Ohltbuerg'fult #46
Black Star ve Kwjg – STR/CF - age 23
Another young striker hoping to either get a little exposure, progress and gain valuable experience within the national squad. Dalila is tall and strong and can be a forceful presence in the air.

"The Pointy Thing"
Mukalo Rotanapai, along with assistant Chester Kat, has devised this strategum for Paradystopia's World Cup campaign. The tactics hinge upon a solid defense with a flexible, yet spearheaded attack. The five-strong defense acts as both a blockade and a base for attack with forward impetus coming from the wings or the centre, via the intermediary defensive midfielder. The team will hold onto possession, playing short pass-and-move football around the defense looking for the opportunistic surprise attack or deliberate slow build-up play. The midfield and forwards will act as one unit, scouting for space and often making diagonal runs to tease defenses apart. The two central midfielders actually playing on their 'wrong' side to facilitate strikes on their stronger foot after cutting inside from the wingward runs. The central attacking midfielder will occupy the centre of this triangle, or 'pointy thing' (with the striker at the forward point) and their job will be mostly to support the attacks happening around them, from 'within'.
