The Royal Oceanographic Bureau is a non-combatant scientific service within the Admiralty focused on the conditions of the oceans and the atmosphere. The ROB warns of dangerous weather, charts seas and skies, guides the use and protection of ocean and coastal resources, and conducts research to improve understanding and stewardship of the environment. The ROB is considered one of the Uniformed Services and is eligible as a choice in the National Service Scheme.
