'tis a 20x120mm CTA autocannon :P

Oh...
It looks like the 25x59mm gun you mounted to the HTA9, is it intentional similarity?

Looks a tad off.

The more obvious problems are the oversized turret, the strange double lines littered throughout the drawing, the chassis (why does the rear of the hull extend out that far? Why is the engine block so stubby?) and the incomplete hull. As it stands, it sort of looks like you've tried to make a very NS-esque design by taking the leopard 2A6 and trying to make it seem bigger - I'd suggest you put this to one side for now, start with RB's tracks from scratch (use his modifiable template to reduce the chassis length to seven roadwheels at most), think about what you want your tank to be able to do and look up source images of similar vehicles.

It's a lot easier to design a tank when you tick the following boxes:
- You know what the specific parts do and look like.
- You understand what you want your tank to be able to do.
- You understand how the two points above interact.

Which one - HT9A7 or HT9A8? I did mount a 25mm AGL on the urban warfare variant of the HT9A8 (on the same RWS model), but it looks very different.

Stats
Weight: 68 tonnes
Length: 8.8 m (12.1 m with gun forwards)
Width: 3.75 m
Height: 2.6 m (2.8 m with cupola mounted weapon)
Crew: 3, Commander, Gunner, Driver

Main armament: 125 mm smoothbore fed by bustle autoloader
Secondary armament: coaxial 20 mm, cupola mounted 20 mm
Engine: 1650 hp, v12
Range: 500 km
Max speed: 60 km/h (limited)

I have been working on the 'write up' for my 80s tank, and i was planning on making it so that the bustle autoloader can be easily 'replaced', so when it comes to rearming you can either load it manually by hand or if you have a resupply vehicle available, remove the entire autoloader and replace it with another full one.

EDIT: I think I may have over done it a bit in regards to the vehicles size, especially with the autoloader. The amount of space each guy in the turret gets is rather ...'excessive'.

Why does the machine gun appear to be on top of the cupola?

What would be the ultimate tank killer cannon that has ever existed in the real world? Something I could mount on a vehicle and would be the most effective against any type of realistic armor?

I drew a Universal Combat Platform. I intend to use it as the basis for main battle tanks, tank destroyers, heavy IFVs, combat engineering vehicles, armored recovery/repair vehicles, self-propelled artillery, anti-air, and NBC defense vehicles.

Does anyone see any immediate glaring design faults with it before I write up the detailed statistics?

Many of those uses would be better served by a front-engine vehicle, with the possible exception of the normal tank itself.

The general concept is largely based on the T-99. Isn't that a rear-engined vehicle?

There's just so little that's really known about it. Most is varying levels of conjecture. Based on previous practice, it seems likely that it will be, but this doesn't mean that's an optimum layout for the rest of these vehicles.

I see. In that case, I'll just use this as a base for MBTs and tank destroyers; and I'll develop another vehicle based on the same tracks with the engine at the front.

Here is a thought. If you want to use your vehicle in all those roles this clearly implies some heavily modular* armor. It also implies a rather heavily modular platform to begin with.* So if you really want a variant with the engine in the front why not just flip the whole chassis over and drive in reverse**?

* Modular as in factory modular. I am not alluding to any sort of post assembly modularity.
** As in, put the driver in what used to be the back and what ever is back in what used to be the front.

Purpelia does not reflect my actual world views. In fact, the vast majority of Purpelian cannon is meant to shock and thus deliberately insane. I just like playing with the idea of a country of madmen utterly convinced that everyone else are the barbarians. So play along or not but don't ever think it's for real.

The above post contains hyperbole, metaphoric language, embellishment and exaggeration. It may also include badly translated figures of speech and misused idioms. Analyze accordingly.

It would probably make for a better vehicle if I were to design an entirely new chassis.

This isn't exactly a military-related question, but let's pretend it is. I expect an obvious, humiliating answer. So why aren't there any (at least that I know of) 5-door sedans?

You make a good point. I should have been more specific. O was thinking along the lines of a 120 L55 or 155 mm L52.

It's a 7m long 130mm gun - on this site, that'd pass as the main gun of a regular tank. ;P
