The fifth Vennskap Shield was a match that proposed many questions. Where were the Odegaard brothers for RSK? Who's this Klein kid and why does he think it's okay to take on SK single-handedly like it's no big deal? Will Pedrinho ever stop scoring goals? And have RSK managed to replaced Belgrave properly?

The venue was Fligsive, The Flynn Area - a stadium that for many of the travelling fans in the crowd held some pretty harrowing memories of a final defeat to Eura for the Terns. Of the players, Sudesval, Lucic and Korzhanenko will share precisely the same memory. Nonetheless, the weather was a balmy ten degrees above zero, and the teams were ready to blood some of their off-season purchases. For the reigning Divisjon One and two-time Champions' Cup holders, this meant the debut in green and white for both Delafreniere of New Montreal States - a hard working midfield presence - and local boy Luke Mitchell, signed from SK Aasiaat Harbour after the Champions' Cup win. For the Latitude Cup winners, the new recruits numbered only a couple of youngsters from the youth team, but much was hoped for them.

With both teams lining up in a narrow 4-2-2-2 or 4-1-2-1-2 formation, there was little space in the centre of the park for any of the midfielders to operate fluently, and the game struggled to settle into a rhythm. With a quarter of an hour it was Ismet van Huijgevoort who first forced a save out of a keeper, producing a wicked dipping volley that Cromdiir could only palm over the bar. Konigstein and Roger would also find space enough to get shots off in the opening quarter of an hour, and before too long it was SK who found themselves in the ascendency. Pedrinho also tested Cromdiir with a clipped shot form the edge of the box, but with Furellum defender Vladimerescu finding more and more space down the flank it would come as no surprise to see the first goal of the match come from a cross.

Beating Valtonen for pace, Vladimerescu cut inside and whipped the ball across for none other than Luke Mitchell to beat his man and head a bullet into the top corner, much to the delight of the home crowd.

Longyearbyen struggled to find any rhythm of their own in the first half, and with their main threat from open play, Asborn Larsen, being easily dealt with by Roger and Delafreniere it was clear that changes to the formation would have to be made at half time. Indeed, SK almost doubled their lead before the end of the first half when Pedrinho was unlucky to see his shot cannon off the crossbar and fall to the feet of a grateful Dennis Asplund on the edge the box who wasted no time in clearing it out for a throw in that prompted the half time whistle.

Replacing Loof with Hammel over half time, Merkens had hoped to see his side play it out from the back more than they had been, and this tactic worked almost immediately when Dickson was just unable to stretch his foot the extra inch that would have turned in his strike partner Montpellier's drilled cross along the edge of the six yard box.

Young Valtonen had impressed thus far for RSK, but after Sudesval came on to replace new signing Delafreniere, the Griffons began to find even more familiarity and fluency in their play, something that the Citizens just didn't have an answer to. The second goal felt like it was coming, and in the seventy first minute it was Konigstein who collected Weiss' through ball and sent a long diagonal ball across the penalty box towards Mitchell. The resulting acrobatic overhead kick from Mitchell could only be palmed away by Cromdiir, and Pedrinho was there to mop up the spilled ball and tuck it away for two-nil.

Merkens reacted immediately by replacing Larsen with Klein, and Montpellier with Jenssen. The appearance of Klein encouraged both Moses and Aagaard to make more runs forwards in support, and for a brief period it looked as if RSK were going to get an equaliser. Fine work from Aagard and Moses in the midfield allowed the fearless talent of Klein to round three SK players before pulling it back for Dickson to fire a cannonball right at Korzhanenko. The Terns keeper was equal to the power behind it however, and caught the ball before falling on it in order to both waste time and catch his breath again.

Iriarte would replace Mitchell with Eiger to warm applause from the home supporters, but even that wouldn't stop RSK's little passage of dominance, and for the second time in five minutes, Klein found himself rushing through on goal. This time there would be pull back however, and the shot was only just tipped wide by Korzhanenko, who managed to get a swift yelling session at his defence before the sequence of three corners that followed came to nothing.

The game began to slow down after that, and in the end the best team won. RSK can be heartened with that performance however, as they managed to either match or restrict SK to long shots from range for a considerable chunk of the match. The season ahead is sure to be a long one with plenty of time for Klein to settle yet, and if he repeats performances like that for them in the league, he could well be the link between Aagard and Moses, and Dickson and Montpellier that the team needs.

As for SK, well. Will they ever stop winning?

KNL Season 17-18

Regular season:
KNL1: 20 teams. Each team plays each other team once in the apertura and once in the clausura.
KNL2: 20 teams. Each team plays each other team once in the apertura and once in the clausura.
KNL3n: 20 teams. Each team plays each other team twice.
KNL3s: 20 teams. Each team plays each other team twice.

Playoffs:
For international competitions (Champions' Cup, Globe Cup):
A#1-C#1 for Champions' Cup 1. KNL has no Champions' Cup 2 this season.
Loser of A#1-C#1 is Globe Cup 1.
A#2-C#2 for Globe Cup 2 and 3. Winner is Globe Cup 2, Loser is Globe Cup 3.
If there are duplicate teams, A#3-C#3 will be played, winner takes lowest possible duplicate team place, pushing up #2 teams to #1 spots where applicable.

For promotion/relegation between KNL1 and KNL2:
A#20 and C#20 relegate for A#1 and C#1.
A#19 plays C#2, A#18 plays C#3, C#19 plays A#2, C#18 plays A#3
Duplicate teams get the best possible seeding (as #18 or #2)

For promotion/relegation between KNL2 and KNL3ns:
KNL3n #1 plays KNL2A #20
KNL3n #2 plays KNL2A #19
KNL3n #3 plays KNL2A #18
KNL3s #1 plays KNL2C #20
KNL3s #2 plays KNL2C #19
KNL3s #3 plays KNL2C #18
Duplicate teams get the best possible seeding (as #18-#19, in that order).

The biggest difference between last two seasons and these two seasons is that the number of third divisions went down from three to two. The KNL3e (Ko-orenite National League, 3rd division, East) disappears and the Northern and Southern conference remain. A large number of these teams disappeared as well, and in their place every state gets a feeder club. The teams in KNL1 and KNL2 stay the same, but there is major restructuring in the third division: many clubs cannot afford to travel large distances like the ones that had to be covered in the three conference system, so 20 teams simultaneously ended their ties with the third division. In addition, their chances of promoting were not that high either, so they will be trying their luck in the regional divisions (fourth division and lower). This leaves us with a fully professional KNL1, a semi-professional KNL2, and a semi-professional KNL3. The feeder clubs may not promote, and they may field only one player over 23 at any time. Players that reach age 23 are either to be contracted by a different team that is not a feeder club, or they will be forced to quit the team and play for a fourth-and-lower division team. The teams that disappeared from the KNL3 are still allowed to participate in the GKC (Greater Ko-orenite Cup) as amateur team, honoring their long-time participation in the (semi-)professional football pyramid.

As always, the season started with the State Championships. 15 Cup-style tournaments, one for every state. Feeder clubs cannot partake in them, and they serve mainly to get people anxious for the season to begin. New players have a smaller podium to prove themselves, and as all cups are state-wide, people have many local rivalries to watch before the real action even starts. And with a prize given out at the end, there is certainly something to play for. The four Western states saw pretty obvious results, though there is only one professional team in Ka Uin state left, who fell in the first round. Maethoru, the team, won the Maethoru state tournament, showing that after years of Branvun domination of KNL1, they are back to play for the prizes. In Kthosl, in the North, the Capitals beat Kthosl already in the semifinals, and they had an easy 4-1 win in the final. Can the Capitals promote back up to KNL1? In Jeknolr, Mazaj and Jeknolr made it to the finals. Both had some blowout wins: 5-0 and 3-0 for Jeknolr, 6-0 in the semifinals for Mazaj... and the final ends in a 1-0. Othushun had Alara win the State Championship, before all of the big KNL1 names Kol, Othushun and Liju. Rabth state, with only four teams, had Jofa win after a long penalty shootout. Three professional, and illustrous teams, in such a small state. Lastly Vnoskjulung's Fashu beat Tosk and Vnoskjulung to win the final. In Eastern Kangutsu, the only remaining professional side won the title. In Uzhotu, there is only one amateur side, but they surprised everyone by taking the prize. Hogone and Sishinova are somewhat larger, and especially in Hogone, teams wanted to stay in as long as possible, resulting in all semifinal games and the final ending in extra time. Laridju were the lucky team in the end in Hogone, and Ningabasa won in the otherwise... not exactly football-crazy state, that does not even have a KNL1 team left (and just one KNL2 team). The last State Championships are the Southern ones, in the most populated state of Arelothun (where Hail won after eliminating the last amateur team in the semifinals, and then beating Tornado in the final. All big teams failed before that!), and in Engbrothun, where Branvun plays, the eternal (okay, last four season) dominating team. Branvun fell to Engbrothun in the first round, who fell to Terrace Branvun, an amateur team, who then lost to Supercell (0-3) in the final. Not a good start for Branvun.

Then the actual season started, where KNL1 has an Apertura and a Clausura. No relegations in between the two season halves, but the counter is reset and it makes for some interesting comebacks: Alara finishes 19th in the Apertura, but 5th in the Clausura for instance. Maethoru wins the Apertura by winning some key games against Branvun and Liju, the other high-flying competitors for the title. 2-0 home against Branvun and a late 2-3 escape at Liju give them six points that won them the league. Kangutsu are still on their way up, ending fourth. Jeknolr and Othushun, two northern teams, finish high in the table, but they are still 11 points off of Maethoru. Then we get a few teams that promoted to KNL1 in the last five years that all have earned their place as solid KNL1 teams: Insin, Ajongka, Jattulnar, Tkhon, Mazaj. At the bottom we see Katrun and Alara in the playoffs, and Arelothun relegating no matter what. This leaves Arelothun state with another team in KNL2, after Tangku surprisingly relegated despite year in, year out qualifying for the Globe Cup. There are no certainties in Ko-orenite football, with players, teams and the general level of the league fluctuating all over the place.

The Clausura had Maethoru winning again, this time by an even bigger margin, and they knew they would get the championship three rounds before the end. That is a lot, considering there are just 19 match days in total. Just two teams made it to 10 victories, only Maethoru and Liju managed a >.500 winning record. Insin is the surprising third placed team, kicking Branvun down to fourth. Alara, 19th in the Apertura, climbs up to 5th in revenge for their poor start, and Saiwu and Mazaj finish just under there. Usually solid teams Kthosl, Jeknolr, Norilya, Othushun and Kangutsu, that have been part of the KNL1 for years, are all mid-table teams with 6-8 wins. Othushun has a season record with 9 draws. Laridju and Katrun are in the playoffs, and Jattulnar joins Arelothun in the KNL2 next season.

The KNL2 is also divided into an Apertura and Clausura, and the champions are rewarded with a KNL1 spot next season. Which are both given to Tangku, so the best playing playoff team gets to promote (or stay in KNL1) as well. Tangku wins the Apertura with a 17-point difference and no games lost, which shows their class as well as how unlucky they were relegating last season. Minato-shi and Rainbow go to the playoffs. The Ko-oren Capitals, yoyo of the league (for relegating and promoting so much) are fifth. Hurricane, Ift and Viltsr are mid-table, and Sturng, Suvira and Engbrothun, former KNL1 teams, find themselves with a lot of work. Tosk, Obu and Iliju have to play two games to stay in the KNL2. The Clausura ends with a Southern domination: Tangku champions by 2 points, and Engbrothun in second... who have another 10 points to spare. Selesi join Engbrothun in the playoffs because of their good record of only losing three in 19. What's more, they outscored every other team in the league.

KNL3 is played as one big season, with two completely different top-threes. All State feeder clubs end in the last places of the leagues, both in the North and the South, probably because of problems around starting up and having all new players. Some of the State Championship winners are in KNL3 as well: we see teams like Vnoskjulung, Wui, Lirad, Kolkath, Rabth, Hogone, Sishinova and Diamond Dust, all former KNL1 teams (and not too long ago, for some, too), and Arelothun State Championship winners Supercell.

Ko-oren(KOR) final site bids

Champions’ Cup: National Stadium, Ko-oren City, Ko-oren (34,000 Capacity)
The stadium has been the center of attention for many years, both in international games by the Ko-orenite national side, but also the annual Greater Ko-orenite Cup final, or home games for both Kthosl and the Ko-oren Capitals. Despite its intensive use, the field is always fresh green and ready to be played on, partly due to the friendly environment, partly due to the excellent staff. It may not seat many, the stadium is one of the larger buildings in the capital city.

Globe Cup: Wind Arena, Tangku, Ko-oren (capacity 29,000)
This stadium is the backup stadium for national team games, but it is also used by Tangku and Engbrothun, two teams that can be found in KNL1 from next season on. The stadium has had a history of windiness, but the areas that were at fault (open corners) have been long fixed. The stadium still has its name, though.

Is "four-peat" a word? It should be. Hardly a surprise, really, after the bulk of their first team was in the squad that powered the Acquans to a World Cup playoff and the brink of their second finals appearance, but the highly talented squad of CA Conquistadores has been at it again, winning the title for a fourth time in a row. They appear to just be untouchable at the moment, much to the irritation of the other big sides, though perhaps it could be that the other teams aren't staying in touch themselves. After all, the Longshoremen of Nationale managed to get to second place this season, and they used to be in the wilderness. Something to think about for the rest of the big five, anyway. A shout out to newly promoted Penthesilea, too, who've done something remarkably there finishing sixth.

Showing off their incredibly minor league's results for the sixteenth time, its the Twin-Emirate of Ares-y-Penthesilea's very own Emirate League. The land of endless universities, students and, well, older students, isn't exactly known for sporting prowess. But they give it a good go, bless them.

Poor, beleaguered, war-torn Mtoleague time! If the awful standard of play doesn't get you, the crowd violence certainly will. And that's if the games even go ahead. We're pretty sure that some teams fielded illegal players this season. Like, goats. We'll be on the lookout next time around. For now, results.

Disclaimer: As much as mean-spirited as this may sound, this tournament is really meant to poke fun at everything. So, if you are somewhat of offended about this, I allow you to give me a jab during a Uwe Boll-like boxing fight. And I'm not paying the tickets to Rio, travel on your own.

After a couple of drinks following some chatting about the World Cup, investors with enough money laying around figured out they'd do something new. If you have ever heard about the Aeropag Football Invitational and the Trofeo del Príncipe, you probably have enough knowledge of how an invitational tournament work. But just for fun, they decided to do an invitational tournament with the worst they could find in the Multiverse. And after a while, they found sixteen teams that wanted to fill the spot and maybe win their little trophy. Only difference is... well, that's now how this tournament rolls. You may be pondering how the hell does this work, but... y'know... just sit and watch. With full coverage of Telesat, this... is the Kylx Kup.

Image

Sixteen teams from all around the Multiverse finally come to play at the Sewage Treatment Plant at the Telesat Crumbling-Ruins-Near-The-Airport Arena in Gangnam City, where we will find out which team is trully, with no doubt, the worst of the entire multiverse!

3 Coconut Sport 3 1 0 2 6 5 +1 3 (11th)
4 FC Bastianese 3 0 1 2 3 8 −5 1 QUALIFIED

Following a rather harsh group round, four teams shown their lack of skill to the extreme. CD FAS Reserves struggled to score, but shown a... well, respectable defense at the tournament, while FC Bastianese didn't even try. The Team from Ibex done nothing aside from the headaches of having to type that name, while the Party Rockers were, ironically, the best qualified team, even with a forced dance routine that took all of their first halves of match, allowing the opposition to do whatever they wanted. With a win over a team of children, the Sunrisians are the favorite to win it... that is, lose it... Ah, you'll understand.

SECOND ROUND

MATCH DAY ONE
CD FAS Reserves (SJG) 1–1 شهيد (IBX)
Party Rockers (NSI) 1–3 FC Bastianese (SGT)

MATCH DAY TWO
شهيد (IBX) 1–3 FC Bastianese (SGT)
CD FAS Reserves (SJG) 3–4 Party Rockers (NSI)

MATCH DAY THREE
Party Rockers (NSI) 1–3 شهيد (IBX)
FC Bastianese (SGT) 0–0 CD FAS Reserves (SJG)

GROUP K Pld W D L GF GA GD Pts
1 FC Bastianese 3 2 1 0 6 2 +4 7 (13th)
2 (The Team from Ibex) 3 1 1 1 5 5 0 4 (14th)
3 Party Rockers 3 1 0 2 6 9 −3 3 (15th)
4 CD FAS Reserves 3 0 2 1 4 5 −1 2 (16th)

And the reserves have done it. With a lot (or should I say lack) of skill, the team from San Jose Guayabal rises the trophy of "Lamest of Them All".

See you next season, bye!

"Slanias Town...no, Dad, I don't think it's a curse word...Soccoroo...Sparta Torspeda..."

"Are you ever going to start playing that thing?"

"I don't know. I have to pick a team, and it's not like I care about any of them."

Soledad's father laughed. "When I was your age, my favorite part about watching the SBCC was trying to read through all the ridiculous foreign names, too."

"Yeah, well, when you were my age, you could actually read all of them in a few minutes, I'm never going to finish."

"Hold up," he said. "Spenson Suburbia? They're top four?"

"I guess," she said, clicking through. Silver and white kits; a large, domed, stadium...

He laughed. "Didn't think they had it in them. Er, to be top-four of an association with more than four teams."

"You've seen them?"

"Years ago. Trecelunas was the only game I could get to."

Soledad nodded. He'd grown up within Aguazul proper, before moving out to the disputed territories where she was born. Of course, the distinction didn't really matter anymore. But for most fans outside the Supercentro--or the capital statistical area or whatever the government was trying to get people to call it, eventually--Trecelunas were the default option.

"They weren't necessarily that good, either. But the Spenson game was always at the end of the cycle, when there were a lot more exciting games going on. So tickets were cheap."

Soledad smiled. "Priorities. Whatever, let's see about this century team."

After a quick skim of the all-star roster, her verdict was "huh." It would have been a challenge for anybody to pick out; Spenson had been the club home for three members of the contemporary Zwangzug national team, and four of their predecessors. Add to that one uncapped Yaforite, and a member of the Candelariasian women's team, and you--well, Soledad, anyway--had a precarious balancing act.

Her first spin through the normal engine was unfulfilling. There was little in the way of a transfer budget to work with, never mind her father's chirpy reassurance that it was fantastic by Zwangzug standards. But it wasn't like there was much of a youth system, either. No, better to play on the Century mode, and enjoy the wild fun of achieving temporal as well as tactical balance.

The stadium grew on her, after a while. The announcers' voices ("...well, Fulpog") grew familiar, too. As for the chants, they weren't what she was used to, but there were songs to parody every now and then. And there was nothing like springing an upset, feeling a warm thrill of confusion as the rest of the league got frustrated.

So after a while, she tried the normal versions again. And by then--she didn't really consider herself a fan, per se, but Spenson were her team, somehow. Maybe they'd been dormant for the better part of a century, but how many seasons had she played them? And not just her, but fans around the world, or even near Fulpog itself?

"I'd say it was strange, for you to get into this club through the video game," her father finally said. "But if you were going to start caring about football, now? I guess it would be Spenson."

Online she was sol_y_luna; the Stelladome added the additional lights. Some people guessed she was female. Many didn't. Most thought she was from Stoal district. She didn't correct them; it was fun watching people be wrong. It was fun for them to watch her be wrong, too, so she kept quiet most of the time. And was wrong about certain logos' designs, but the tournaments went on anyway.

Essian in goal, Rose-Dauphine and Witchein-Coan in back. Calle-Polp up front; so too Karwitch, or KK to his fans. And to Soledad. Until she decided to actually watch them for real, one day.

Game on.

As per these posts: Premiership Serie B Promotion/Relegation Playoff

Yttribia (YTT) qualifiers
Champions’ Cup: Stemanisis SSC
Globe Cup: Telino, AC Zevella, FC Delare Minon (Formerly Known as Delare Minon)
Series B Champion's Cup: Falscher Bund, CDF Dowtel, Serraville CC, FC Olivera

CEdC: Stemanisis SSC, Telino

Yttribia's (YTT) Final Site Bids
Series B Champion's Cup and Youth Cup: Le Nid Violet, Fontvieille, capacity of 81,800.
Image
Located in downtown Fontvieille, Le Nid Violet is considered one of the most technologically advanced stadiums in all of Esportiva. Having hosted the finals of the CEdP with success, Le Nid Violet seeks to show the entire multiverse on this stadium. With twelve press boxes present, forty eight luxury suites, and 71,000 other seats, the stadium is one of high quality. Accessibility of the stadium is highly easy, thanks to the multiple Fontvieille Metro lines running under the stadium. Due to the government's encouragement of public transportation, parking is limited. The retractable roof allows the beautiful game to be played on real grass, allowing enough sunlight to strike the field. Various high-quality restaurants, and pubs with breweries are located within walking distance, to celebrate the win, or loss.

Campionato Esportiva di Campeones: Stadii Ximena, Telino, capacity of 77,900
Image
Known to locals as Frozen Hell, the high gusts arriving from the oceanside make the Stadii Ximena, named after the famed leader who led Yttribia to glory and prosperity a millennium ago, a total nightmare to visiting teams playing against football club Telino. However, during the warmer months of the year, Stadii Ximena becomes one of the most beautiful places to play in, after a recent poll by players, fans, and coaches. Located just outside of Telino city limits, the stadium has various ways to arrive, via the National Interstate, or the Yttribian Express, the national railroad carrier, or even through the Telino BajoTierras, as the penultimate stop before arriving to the airport. Despite it's location, it makes up for this by having wireless internet connections throughout the entire stadium, various local shacks that can only be found in Telino and inside the stadium, and various pubs inside as well. The stadium has two JumboTrons on home and away sides, and a hospitable experience there.

"Hey, István?"

"Yes, My Ruler?"

"When did we lose our wings?"

"Our 'wings', My Ruler?"

"Yes."

"Well, kindof a long story, but the common consensus is somewhere between the roar-y scaly stage and the ape-y furry stage. Walking fish notwithstanding."

"Not like that you twit. On the flag!"

"The flag, My Ruler?"

"Yes, the flag! Our flag! The Urszcsar flag? We used to have wings and legs behind the crest, did we not?"

"Ah, yes, the flag. Why didn't you say so?"

"... I di-"

"Well we dropped them, that's what happened."

"Yes I can see that, István, my question is why. And when?"

"When we decided to, obviously."

"And then when was that?"

"When we realised we were running out of ink."

"Ink?!"

"Yes, ink. There is a nationwide ink shortage. Stamp ink, printer ink, tattoo ink, paper ink, cloth ink. You name it. So to cut down on costs we decided to drop the wings from all but Csar-al stamps and insignia."

"So, I am now the only one with the wings?"

"Yes."

"The Tanácsadók are actually okay with that?"

"Well if the people think it makes you look important, then fine. Besides, its not like they don't control when its going to get used, anyway."

"Oh, oh yeah. Wait, did you say tattoo ink?"

"Yes, tattoo ink. Why?"

"People get the Urszcsar crest tattooed on them?"

"Yes. On their chest. We make them."

"What, everyone?!"

"Well, no. Not everyone. Just the citizens that do military service."

"...that's everyone!"

"Is it? Oh. Well. Everyone then, I suppose."

"But, that's barbaric!"

"Is it? Hm. The people don't think so. They can't wait to get them done. Sign of pride."

"The Tanácsadók really got this all figured out, didn't they?"

"Yes, My Ruler, yes we did. Will that be all?"

"Oh, erm, yes, István. Thank you."

"As you wish, My Ruler. I'll be back next time the Tanácsadók want something from you. Which is often."

"Yes yes, István. Goodbye."

"Goodbye, My Ruler."

THE JUNIOR LEAGUE

One of the biggest events of the Sunrisian football history started this season as The Junior League had it's first season thrown around during the common NSIFC season. With a couple of players "loaned" from professional teams and a lot on the line, The Junior League enticed smaller crowds that weren't interested on the shenanigans of the top teams of the country (and some other folks). Project +90 was the team of the league, after taking over both trophies of the Under-15 and Under-21 divisions.

SUNRISE CHAMPIONSHIP D

Thanks to the NSIFC not establishing a proper fifth division yet, Ann City Aphroditeans, Avenida Postal, Twin Cities FC and the wooden spooner of this season, Manchester Royals can have another shot at doing something properly at this division. Funnily enough, Red Star Mardi's resurrection may have started this season with a great title win at the lower divisions. Alie City Madness, Steelport United and Osuka Tsunami join the oldest team of Northern Sunrise Islands at the third-tier, with Saint-Dénis barely making in, weren't it for three goals less.

SUNRISE CHAMPIONSHIP C

While the bottom four of the fourth tier failed to be relegated, Cidade Nova, Partick City, Grêmio Ferreira and Axminster Town found their relegation spot this season, saving Brittany Town from relegation. The Artemians, a newcomer at Sunrisian football this season, crowns an impressive debuting season with the trophy of the third division, stolen by one goal of advantage against Katina Rogues. The ponies of Applejack Town and the competent squad of Ardross City had no trouble securing their promotion.

SUNRISE CHAMPIONSHIP B

Santa Catarina and Speranza Lorelei had to outrun Maori Xatus in order to make their debut at the top tier of NSI's football pyramid. Another team debuting, funny enough, after an agreement with the Farf football league, Pezcemá Golden Magikarps got a surprising second place thanks to a rough style of play, the talents of Krista "Grasshopper" Miller and a lot of luck. Darveston City is the surprise, winning the title our of nowhere and returning to the top tier after being there for sometime as the Darveston Islanders. The relegated teams are also a surprise as AS Collio Calcio, Depreche City, Madjorie City and Brighton City failed to keep up with the league, allowing teams such as the Kokoto Hylians to stay on the second division out of nowhere.

SUNRISE CHAMPIONSHIP A

And the trophy finally arrives at Lylat as the Starfoxes, backed by an incredible season of Stephen Landsberg, top striker of the league with 21 goals, great perfomances by players like Golden Glove and Manolo Granada. Following the Starfox, the Dragonites finally made all the speculation worthy by taking the second spot and debuting at the Champion's Cup, something they never done before by a team from Granger. Now known as the Wigglytuffs, Mabel obtains a spot at the Globe Cup as well as the Saints-led Stilwater City and the always reliable Matthew City Rangers. The Heritage Cup now has the presence of title-recordists as well as Sunrisian Club of the Century, Mardi Lopunnies and the Byrd Spitfires, who used the skills of Janka from Pasarga to do their job. The Nexxus Cup, an initiative made by the country of Nexxus Drako, gives the San Jose Sharks a shot at post-season play.

Season 1

Shady talks between the FFA and the IFA have gone on for years, but ramped up recently after their respective nations both hosted the 66th World Cup. The Syndicate’s league had hit a period of stagnation in recent times - anyone transferring was often transferring out, and the teams had little success in UICA competitions. The FFA had several amateur teams that were itching to go out into the wide world as professionals, and offered a partnership with the Syndicate’s Premier League. When the IFA accepted this fantastic offer, some weren’t too pleased. Ian Clayton, of Claycomms, was furious that the Audioslavs were ‘getting in the way’ of a venture that he had big plans for, and quickly axed support for the league, moving on to other ventures in different nations. This left the league without a sponsor, and Batiob, a Syndicatian brewery, stepped in to fill the void. The league was born with 16 teams in it’s premier division as LigAnaia, and contains an eclectic mix of the best Syndicatian and Audioslavian teams.

The Teams

In no particular order…
Image

Burgess FC (Burgess, The Inevitable Syndicate)
Burgess FC are a stalwart of Syndicatian Football, and were one of the first clubs formed in the country by the Starblaydi migrants that bought the game to the Syndicate’s shores. They’re here in the LigAnaia to show both Audioslavian teams and Syndicatian teams alike how to play football. Operating out of Sunrise Park, and managed by Gerald Montier, the team operates in an efficient 3-5-2 manner that has inspired the national team to adopt the formation themselves. The team used to have some of the Syndicate’s key players in, but most of them have moved on to more lucrative offers overseas. Jeff Westblox is one to watch out for, as his accuracy is something to be marvelled at. He’ll only need a second to score for the Burgess side, so can score for fun against a breadth of opponents.

Image

Fligsive FC (Fligsive, The Inevitable Syndicate)
The Syndicate’s capital team are here with one goal in mind - beat 1830 Cathair at all costs, to finally settle the age old question of Which capital team is actually better at football?. The Flynn Arena, a place you all know and love, is their home ground, and manager Farell Kiter claims this is going to be a season to remember. Whether it will be or not is up to the likes of Bruce Fries and Petr Cervinka, two Syndicatians (the latter being born Mytanar) who balance the field in attack and defence respectively. Fligsive are a team that are looking to reclaim the victories of old, but it;s not certain that they’ll get there this season.

Image

Nostromo Meteorites (Nostromo, The Inevitable Syndicate)
A team that always goes out with a bang, this club from Webster are serious contenders for the title this year, and anyone that goes down to Point Impact should be wary of the team’s attacking style of play. Aaron Allen and Ethan Sinclair are two midfielders hand picked by manager Jeffery Parker for their all out attack, and should be treated like a second pair of strikers when on the pitch. Their main rivals this season look to be Burgess FC, who have been an obstacle to their first place finishes for too many years.

Image

Crystal Mertagne (Pinehearth, The Inevitable Syndicate)
Crystal Mertagne, the reincarnation of club Pinehearth United, that went into administration some time last year, retain most of the previous staff from the old squad. Kurt Wright is still the manager, Pinehearth City Stadium is still the ground, and defender Jason De Vale is still one to watch out for. Crystal Mertagne haven’t been shaken that much then by everything that’s going on, it seems. That doesn’t mean they should be looked at like their old counterparts, as they do contain some new talent that looks to be just what the team needs to be in with a fighting chance at the top of the league.

Image

Magnaeus City (Magnaeus, The Inevitable Syndicate)
Francois Cardeau. The stern manager from Black Peak is looking to put an end to Magnaeus’s run of poor performances elsewhere and start afresh in the LigAnaia. The club were once famous for being the best in the Syndicate - a title they held onto for a long time before being beaten by clubs like Hyford FC. While Hyford have fallen into the woodwork, Magnaeus City still moves on, watching with a keen eye from the Bird Cage for the weaknesses of other teams and plotting how to exploit them. The pawn in his plan? Felix Kaestner, a young Mytanar transfer who is quick on the ball, and keen to get down the other end of the pitch. He’ll definitely be selected in any matches against rivals Fligsive, that’s for sure.

Image

Westonbirt City (Westonbirt, The Inevitable Syndicate)
Westonbirt was a city that was hit hard in the Ahlenfi War, but has managed to rebuild and has suprisingly come out better than it was when it went in. Billions of ducats went into repairing the city, and some of this budget went to repairing Whittle’s Field, which was the site of a large firefight between Ahlenfi Rebel forces and the Syndicatian Defense Army. It’s once again a fully functional football stadium, and once again a fully functioning club, with Al Tucnoo taking charge of the team in the absence of Stacey Vaughn, who lasted for just two seasons before meeting an untimely end - literally. Karl Cotrell doesn’t have time to mourn, however, as the Westonbirt Midfielder has received call ups for the National Team, and is looking to show his skills on the domestic field.

Image

FC Southern Ninestar (Hyford, The Inevitable Syndicate)
Always Hyford’s ‘other’ team, Southern Ninestar is home to some of the most patriotic fans in the league. When the team heard that they could have the opportunity to play against foreigners, Stuart Parhoe lept at the chance, buying some of Hyford’s best players and also buying a spot in the league. With this new talent, they look to be amongst the best, and are looking to make some noise - but whether they will do so or fall into the history books like most teams from Hyford is yet to be seen. Joseph Lloyd current national goalkeeper, plays here and is looking to keep a clean record against both Syndicate and Audioslavia teams, while entertaining at their home ground, Ninestar Arch.

Image

Lesko Pavillion (Pavillion, The Inevitable Syndicate)
I’m sure you’ve all heard the stories of the disaster that threatened the Syndicate three years ago - the tsunami that drowned a whole partition of the country. Here’s where the survivors ended up - Pavillion, the temporary town that outstayed its welcome, and within lies The Big Top, the home ground of the team. We’re glad it did, as it made a football team, and that team has done well enough to earn a spot in the LigAnaia. Managed by ex-national team player Tomas Hill, who had his football career cut short by a sword blow to the head and was placed in a coma for six months, the team looks to his guidance for tips on the field. When he can remember, he’s rather good, but when his mind is clouded it’s often up to captain Owen Stanley to provide direction. Pavillion aren’t looking for a win, because they know they’re not getting it, but anywhere apart from last is a victory to them. If they can cause some upsets along the way, that’d be even better.

Image

Baudelaire Tulips (Baudelaire, The Inevitable Syndicate)
The ‘good old boys’ from Baudelaire are here to play some good clean football, preferably at the Klaus Memorial Stadium so they don’t get too tired. Managed by Samuel Recket, a man that plays to his namesake, the team can often be a lot for the poor man to handle when they refuse to play offensively, lest they receive any cards. Maybe his managing strategy will finally rub off on the team after three seasons, and they can make some waves in the LigAnaia. Oliver Baker looks to be the one to watch, as his defending skills are sure to keep the ball from the back of the net. That is unless some smelly Audioslavian tries to push him over!

Image

Wozinitz Wonderers (Wozinitz, The Inevitable Syndicate)
Many have wondered why exactly the team from Wozinitz is called what they are called. They play in Patches Park, and a ground like that doesn’t take much thought to navigate. Truth is, the name simply stemmed from the fact the amateur club couldn’t decide on a name, and in their first season, manager at the time Gordon Bathe claimed: “The team name? We can only wonder, er…”. This got taken out of context, the name stuck, and it’s been like that ever since. Still, they’re here to make you think, and Kai Jeskins is just the man to take the wheel of the team. Neil Harris is by far the strongest link of the team, but if he were to break, the result could be messy.

Image

AC Izotz Zubia (Izotzazubia, Audioslavia)
'Zozi' are a grand old club from Audioslavia's Sierra Herradura region, and have produced more Audioslavian World Cup winners than any other domestic club. Their name was first on the list of those wanting to turn professional and travel to the greener pastures. The side play at the Soldaduak Eremuan, a stadium of modest size yet somehow manages to look twice as large to visiting teams. The side have had a caretaker manager in recent times, but will be taken over by former Audioslavia, Saugeais and Astograth national team manager Powell Pieran after World Cup 67. Izotz Zubia consider their main rivals to be 1830 Cathair - Audioslavia's other 'big' club - but traditionally the side need look no further than the nearby cities of Moreazerua and Ferramendiak to find their true rivals...

Image

1830 Cathair (Cathair, Audioslavia)
1830 Cathair were one of Audioslavia's first clubs - they pre-date not only all other teams in the LigAnaia, but the Audioslavian national team too and even the World Cup itself. 1830 Cathair have produced a fair number of players and managers for Audioslavia's national team in recent years, and are expected to trouble the top three in the new league. The team moved to the new '66' stadium last year, in time for their finally turning professional after over three-hundred years of amateurism. Their main rivals are the plethora of smaller Cathair teams - of which Shamrock Cathair are the only ones joining them in the LigAnaia - and fans are salivating over the thought of beating fellow capital-city team Fligsive FC. 1830 Cathair are managed by two-time AOCAF Cup winning manager Andre-Luis Partico, who joined the club after his previous job - manager of Pacitalia's national team - ceased to exist.

Image

KT Itzalovalle (Ferramendiak, Audioslavia)
Txo Morea didn't arrive at Itzalovalle to a particularly warm reception. The manager was reviled for his disastrous tenure as national team managers for both Audioslavia and Free South Califas, and the fact that he made his name at Izotz Zubia didn't help. Itzalovalle consider the team from Izotzazubia to be their main rivals, and although they haven't reached the point where they can call themselves equal to the men in salmon and silver, the side has come on leaps and bounds since Morea took over. The side play their football at the Antzerkia, at can be found playing heated derby matches with fellow Sierra Herradura side Moreazerua.

Image

Oljestaden IF (Oljestaden, Audioslavia)
Oljestaden are Audioslavia's newest club, formed by a merger of a number of provincial teams and backed by energy giants Hygolje. The side are probably the third or fourth biggest in Audioslavia right now, and manager Weverton Sporadic - son of World Cup winning Eura boss Kelly - has his sights set on usurping the big guns in the future. The side play their home games at the Hygolje Arena and are a little too new to have any serious rivals, although Syndicatian outfit Westonbirt City might fit the bill.

Image

KT Moreazerua (Moreazerua, Audioslavia)
The 'other' Sierra Herradura side are managed by another former national team manager in Alvaro Mozo. The side, famed for their purple colours, consider Izotz Zubia and Itzalovalle as their main rivals. During the side's amateur years, the only time their modestly-sized Ibarretako Estadioa stadium was properly full was for the visit of these two teams, but the locals are hopeful of increased support now that the team have joined the LigAnaia. Moreazerua are also famous for having their entire first team bought by Falcus outfit Reedring F.C. a few years ago - a loss of talent that the side are only just recovering from.

Image

Shamrock Cathair (Cathair, Audioslavia)
Cathair's 'celtic' team are famed for their green and gold colours, but not a great deal else. They play their brand of defensive, cautious football at the Glass Bridge Stadium and are managed by Diarmid Reilly - the only manager in the league not to have some kind of international experience. The side see 1830 Cathair as their main rivals, but the feeling isn't reciprocated, and a more accurate assessment would be that Shamrock Cathair's biggest rivals are the other, smaller Cathair clubs - none of which are big enough to turn professional - and the two main teams of Ceilerden - Ceily Harp and Ceily Rovers - both of whom will look to join the league were it to expand.

With the teams introduced, now all that's left is to get the season underway!

Season 1 - Matchdays 1-10

MATCHDAY 1
Burgess FC 2-0 Shamrock Cathair
Nostromo Meteorites 2-0 KT Moreazerua
Magnaeus City 3-0 Oljestaden IF
FC Southern Ninestar 1-2 KT Itzalovalle
Fligsive FC 0-1 1830 Cathair FC
Westonbirt City 2-1 AC Izotz Zubia
Crystal Mertagne 1-0 Wozinitz Wonderers
Lesko Pavillion 0-2 Baudelaire Tulips

The first match of the Liga kicked off in the Syndicate’s home of football, as Burgess FC took on Shamrock Cathair at Sunrise Park. They got off to a good start, too, clinching an important 2-0 victory that looked to set them up for future games. The Meteorites also hit the ground running in their game against KT Moreazerua, grabbing two goals at home and three points, proving that they are on par with the Syndicate’s best team. Not a team that likes to be trumped by anyone, Magnaeus City put three goals past Oljestaden IF in the highest scoring game of the weekend, and showed the Audioslavian team who’s boss. It wasn’t a whitewash for the Syndicate though, as 1830 Cathair’s David McAlexander shocked the Fligsive home crowd with a last-gasp goal that D’Sauviterre didn’t see coming. Westonbirt also pulled off a victory versus Zubia, and Pavillion got off to a bad start with a 0-2 loss to the reborn Baudelaire Tulips.

MATCHDAY 2
KT Moreazerua 0-1 Burgess FC
Oljestaden IF 1-1 Shamrock Cathair
KT Itzalovalle 2-0 Nostromo Meteorites
1830 Cathair FC 0-1 Magnaeus City
AC Izotz Zubia 2-0 FC Southern Ninestar
Wozinitz Wonderers 2-1 Fligsive FC
Baudelaire Tulips 1-2 Westonbirt City
Lesko Pavillion 3-0 Crystal Mertagne

Matchday 2 saw Burgess hop across the pond to play Moreazerua, and it seems they weren't jetlagged, as they pulled off an impressive 1-0 victory with an early goal from Astograthian Artzeiz Kuartango. Oljestaden and Shamrock just couldn’t seem to gain the upper hand over each other, and left Hygolje Arena with a single point apiece, which could hinder them in future matchdays. Nostromo couldn’t emulate Burgess’s success while away, and suffered a 2-0 loss at the feet of Itzalovalle. FC Southern Ninestar continued their string of defeats with a 2-0 loss to the second Audioslavian team they faced, Izotz Zubia. Westonbirt picked up a second win versus Baudealire Tulips, denying the home crowd of the win they wanted. Pavillion managed to pick up their game, showing Crystal Mertagne they’ve got some skill in a 3-0 game that was over by the first half, with two goals in the early minutes of the match from Jaques Beadeu, and a third from Joel Hurst.

MATCHDAY 3
Burgess FC 3-0 Oljestaden IF
KT Moreazerua 1-2 KT Itzalovalle
Shamrock Cathair 1-2 1830 Cathair FC
Nostromo Meteorites 3-0 AC Izotz Zubia
Magnaeus City 5-0 Wozinitz Wonderers
FC Southern Ninestar 2-0 Baudelaire Tulips
Fligsive FC 3-1 Lesko Pavillion
Westonbirt City 1-2 Crystal Mertagne

The KT’s fought at Ibarretako Estadioa, with away players Itzalovalle ending up the victor, as they managed to score from a corner given shortly after half time. The Cathair Derby came and went, with 90 minutes of action packed play from Shamrock and 1830. 1830 Cathair dazzled the crowds, and went away clutching three points and laughing maniacally. Burgess FC went three for three on Audioslavian teams, beating Oljestaden IF 3-0 at home, The biggest win of the weekend went to Magnaeus City, who put five goals past the likes of Alfred Normand and the rest of Wozinitz Wonderers. Fligsive were finally victorious against a team, Lesko Pavillion, but only by two goals. This was surprising as punters leading up to the game were tipping it to be a whitewash.

MATCHDAY 4
KT Itzalovalle 1-1 Burgess FC
1830 Cathair FC 1-0 Oljestaden IF
AC Izotz Zubia 2-0 KT Moreazerua
Wozinitz Wonderers 1-3 Shamrock Cathair
Baudelaire Tulips 2-2 Nostromo Meteorites
Lesko Pavillion 0-2 Magnaeus City
Crystal Mertagne 0-2 FC Southern Ninestar
Westonbirt City 1-1 Fligsive FC

Shamrock Cathair gained their first win of the season here, with a 3-1 victory against the Wonderers while playing away. Patches Park was in uproar during the game, and the Wonderers seemed deflated coming out of the stadium afterwards. The picture was like this across the Syndicate, as not a single Syndicatian team managed a win at home. Tulips tied the Meteorites, Crystal Mertagne lost 0-2 at home against Southern Ninestar, and Pavillion were stepped on by Magnaeus in the form of a 0-2 loss. Even Burgess didn’t see the success they’d had in previous weeks, as over in Itzalovalle, they played a tough 90 minutes and came out of it with a 1-1 tie. 1830 Cathair and AC Izotz Zubia cemented success for the Audoslavians, however it was against other Audioslavian teams.

MATCHDAY 5
Burgess FC 3-3 1830 Cathair FC
KT Itzalovalle 0-2 AC Izotz Zubia
Oljestaden IF 1-1 Wozinitz Wonderers
KT Moreazerua 1-5 Baudelaire Tulips
Shamrock Cathair 1-1 Lesko Pavillion
Nostromo Meteorites 1-1 Crystal Mertagne
Magnaeus City 5-1 Westonbirt City
FC Southern Ninestar 3-1 Fligsive FC

The two teams tipped as the favourites in the LigAnaia clashed in Sunrise Park on Matchday 5, and while the game was full of goals from national superstars, it ended in the two teams being evenly matched and finishing with three goals apiece. Baudelaire Tulips wowed both nations in an away clash against Moreazerua. The brighter shade of purple won out, with a four goal lead that Baudelaire managed to keep going from the second half. Magnaeus emulated this at home, also with a 5-1 win against Westonbirt City. Lesko Pavillion had their first game over in Cathair, and managed to bring a single point pack home after scoring a single goal against Shamrock. Fligsive continued their run of bad luck against FC Southern Ninestar.

MATCHDAY 6
AC Izotz Zubia 3-1 Burgess FC
Wozinitz Wonderers 1-2 1830 Cathair FC
Baudelaire Tulips 2-0 KT Itzalovalle
Lesko Pavillion 1-3 Oljestaden IF
Crystal Mertagne 1-0 KT Moreazerua
Westonbirt City 2-0 Shamrock Cathair
Fligsive FC 0-2 Nostromo Meteorites
FC Southern Ninestar 1-1 Magnaeus City

AC Izotz Zubia was the team to finally break Burgess’s back, as they won 3-1 against them at the Soldaduak Eremuan, after Xurxo Zubiondo scored a great equaliser that opened the floodgates for two more goals that Burgess couldn’t come back from. Back in the Syndicate, Nostromo pulled off an easy win over Fligsive, and Oljestaden gained some points in their game against Lesko Pavillion. The most surprising result of the weekend was Baudelaire Tulips’s, who had obviously found their winning formula on the last matchday, and continued to employ these tactics against Itzalovalle in their 2-0 win.

MATCHDAY 7
Burgess FC 1-0 Wozinitz Wonderers
AC Izotz Zubia 2-0 Baudelaire Tulips
1830 Cathair FC 3-1 Lesko Pavillion
KT Itzalovalle 0-1 Crystal Mertagne
Oljestaden IF 2-3 Westonbirt City
KT Moreazerua 1-1 Fligsive FC
Shamrock Cathair 1-1 FC Southern Ninestar
Nostromo Meteorites 3-0 Magnaeus City

Pavillion has become the new ‘Slav punching bag, as 1830 Cathair only let a single goal roll into their net on Matchday 7. Izotz Zubia did one better, though, and shut down Tulips’s streak with a 2-0 victory at home. Moreazerua drew Fligsive 1-1, after Phil Gulliver put the final touch on a fantastic shot from a corner just before the end of the first half. Nostromo, after beating Fligsive, took on the Second City and beat them, albeit at home. Magnaeus City couldn’t even get a goal in thanks to Archer’s deft hands, trained from years of experience in the Syndicate’s national team. Burgess managed to get over their defeat on the last matchday by gaining three points thanks to Wozinitz, who were shown which ground is more deserving of the suffix “Park”.

MATCHDAY 8
Baudelaire Tulips 1-3 Burgess FC
Lesko Pavillion 2-1 Wozinitz Wonderers
Crystal Mertagne 0-1 AC Izotz Zubia
Westonbirt City 0-1 1830 Cathair FC
Fligsive FC 1-1 KT Itzalovalle
FC Southern Ninestar 1-3 Oljestaden IF
Magnaeus City 0-1 KT Moreazerua
Nostromo Meteorites 2-0 Shamrock Cathair

They came, they saw, they conquered. This story goes for multiple teams on this matchday, as Burgess, Oljestaden, and Nostromo showed dominance on the pitch during their games. Nostromo’s was expected, as they were playing with a friendly home crowd against Shamrock, but Oljestaden held out against an angry Southern Ninestar, and continued to capitalise on their mistakes, finishing the game with three goals to Ninestar’s 1. The most surprising result of this matchday came in the form of Lesko Pavillion’s win against Wozinitz, who had been suffering from a drop in performance all season.

MATCHDAY 9
Burgess FC 0-0 Lesko Pavillion
Baudelaire Tulips 0-1 Crystal Mertagne
Wozinitz Wonderers 0-2 Westonbirt City
AC Izotz Zubia 2-1 Fligsive FC
1830 Cathair FC 0-0 FC Southern Ninestar
KT Itzalovalle 0-2 Magnaeus City
Oljestaden IF 0-1 Nostromo Meteorites
KT Moreazerua 3-0 Shamrock Cathair

If Pavillion are the Audioslav punching bag, and they’re pulling off ties against the best Syndicatian team in the league at home, what exactly does that say about Syndicatian football? Yes, Lesko managed to shock the world in their game against Burgess, blocking any and all shots that the home team tried against them. However, they just didn’t have the attacking prowess, and couldn’t sneak a shock goal past Luca Jones to claim the three points. 1830 Cathair had a similar problem against FC Southern Ninestar, and that game also resulted in a 0-0 draw. Izotz Zubia managed to take three points at home against Fligsive, as Robert Hampson’s goal wasn’t enough to keep the lead, as Kerman Azarola put an end to Fligsive’s lead just three minutes after they gained it.

MATCHDAY 10
Crystal Mertagne 0-1 Burgess FC
Westonbirt City 2-0 Lesko Pavillion
Fligsive FC 2-0 Baudelaire Tulips
FC Southern Ninestar 2-2 Wozinitz Wonderers
Magnaeus City 2-1 AC Izotz Zubia
Nostromo Meteorites 1-0 1830 Cathair FC
Shamrock Cathair 1-2 KT Itzalovalle
KT Moreazerua 2-3 Oljestaden IF

Matchday 10 saw Fligsive pick up their second win, this time against Baudelaire, who have had a rollercoaster of a season so far. The 2-0 victory was a hollow one, as defender Thomas Decker was badly injured, putting him out of action for 12 weeks. Olijestaden managed to edge a win from Moreazerua by a single goal, which was scored in extra time by Maati Jarvinen. FC Southern Ninestar continued to upset teams, this time tying with Wozinitz, and Lesko Pavillion suffered an unfortunate loss against Westonbirt City. The Meteorites faced 1830 Cathair at home, and only came away with a single goal, after Farf player Vrotaoa Wii-Tzaara intercepted a ball from Paul Blackwood and passed it over to Davies, who put away a goal to seal victory.

And after ten Matchdays, Nostromo is just sitting on the top spot, with Magnaeus trailing just a single point behind. Izotz Zubia leads the charge for the Audiolsavian teams, drawing level with Burgess but edging ahead on wins with 21 points. 1830 Cathair is a single point behind them and it’s not until 7th were we see a clear cut in the standings, with Crystal Mertagne a whole three points off Westonbirt. Fligsive are struggling with just two wins, and nine points, and Wozinitz Wonderers are stuck right at the bottom of the table with the likes of Shamrock Cathair.

With a whole 20 Matchdays to go, it’s still all to play for, but already we can see which teams have more skill than others.

Season 1 - Matchdays 11-20

MATCHDAY 11
Burgess FC 3-0 Westonbirt City
Crystal Mertagne 0-2 Fligsive FC
Lesko Pavillion 0-3 FC Southern Ninestar
Baudelaire Tulips 1-2 Magnaeus City
Wozinitz Wonderers 1-4 Nostromo Meteorites
AC Izotz Zubia 2-2 Shamrock Cathair
1830 Cathair FC 1-2 KT Moreazerua
KT Itzalovalle 1-3 Oljestaden IF

Matchday 11 kicked off with a 3-0 win to Burgess, against a Westonbirt side that were reduced to 9 men by the end of the game, after a bad tackle from Colin Noc sent Karl Cotrell out of the game in the first half, and after Chris Hoove took a tumble in the second. Both Cathair teams had a bad weekend, as 1830’s game in torrential rain ended with a win for KT Moreazerua, by a single goal from Matxin Michel, and Shamrock just managed to scrape a draw with Izotz Zubia. Fligsive took a vital win against their polar opposites Crystal Mertagne, winning 2-0 after a crucial penalty turned the tide of the game in Fligsive’s favour. Southern Ninestar racked up a win, with a 3-0 victory against Lesko Pavillion, who were playing at home.

MATCHDAY 12
Fligsive FC 0-1 Burgess FC
FC Southern Ninestar 1-1 Westonbirt City
Magnaeus City 1-1 Crystal Mertagne
Nostromo Meteorites 1-0 Lesko Pavillion
Shamrock Cathair 2-1 Baudelaire Tulips
KT Moreazerua 1-3 Wozinitz Wonderers
Oljestaden IF 2-2 AC Izotz Zubia
KT Itzalovalle 1-0 1830 Cathair FC

The atmosphere in the Flynn Arena was buzzing as Burgess came over to play Fligsive, and ran off after the game with three points in hand, after a goal managed to find it’s way past D’Sauviterre thanks to Trevor Abnett, the Burgess defender. The Meteorites only managed a single goal against Pavillion, who managed to hold on at Point Impact for an hour before their opponents managed to score. Wozinitz grabbed themselves a shock victory against KT Moreazerua, winning 3-1 at Ibarretako Estadioa. KT Itzallovalle also managed an impressive victory against 1830 Cathair, playing a very Kylxian match in which the only goal was scored just two minutes into the game.

MATCHDAY 13
Burgess FC 2-0 FC Southern Ninestar
Fligsive FC 1-2 Magnaeus City
Westonbirt City 1-0 Nostromo Meteorites
Crystal Mertagne 1-0 Shamrock Cathair
Lesko Pavillion 0-1 KT Moreazerua
Baudelaire Tulips 0-0 Oljestaden IF
Wozinitz Wonderers 1-2 KT Itzalovalle
AC Izotz Zubia 2-0 1830 Cathair FC

Fligsive played rivals Magnaeus at home on Matchday 13, bringing another fantastic game to the Flynn Arena. Maganeus managed to clinch a win, leaving many Fligsive fams devastated and ranting on Blatter about how the result was ‘unfair’ and that Felix Kaestner was a ‘Mytanar Cheat’. The anger subsided a little once Fligsive found that the capital team from Audioslavia suffered a worse loss against AC Izotz Zubia, though. KT Moreazerua managed to knock the stuffing out of a deflated Lesko Pavillion, but only by a single goal, which came from Andoni Ibarra. Westonbirt City pulled off an impressive win against the Meteorites, who were on the hunt for any points they could get to put them above Burgess in the standings. The game left them dry of any points, though when Chris Hoove scored a goal roughly halfway through the second half, picking a hole in the Meteorites already bitty defence and capitalising on it with haste.

MATCHDAY 14
Magnaeus City 2-1 Burgess FC
Nostromo Meteorites 4-2 FC Southern Ninestar
Shamrock Cathair 1-3 Fligsive FC
KT Moreazerua 1-0 Westonbirt City
Oljestaden IF 2-0 Crystal Mertagne
KT Itzalovalle 0-1 Lesko Pavillion
1830 Cathair FC 1-0 Baudelaire Tulips
AC Izotz Zubia 4-4 Wozinitz Wonderers

Magnaeus, empowered by their win against rivals Fligsive, arrived back home and played host to Burgess on Matchday 14, and edged ahead to victory by a single goal. Fligsive managed a win in Cathair, this time against Shamrock, when Bruce Fries scored a beautiful goal when Shamrock’s backs were turned following a messy shot from Oleg Evseev of Mytannion. Fans of AC Izotz Zubia got themselves an action packed treat versus a desperate Wozinitz Wonderers side, who were just as relentless in their goal scoring as the home side. The scoreline was a rare one for the typically defensive style of play exhibited in the two nations, but it seemed that Zubia were looking to put as many goals past the opposition as they could, in order to try and push up a couple of places in the league table. Oljestaden IF played a great game at Hygolje Arena against Crystal Mertagne, scoring two goals against both goalkeepers from the Mertagne side after Kurt Wright made a controversial decision to swap out David Parish just after the first goal was scored.

MATCHDAY 15
Burgess FC 2-1 Nostromo Meteorites
Magnaeus City 0-1 Shamrock Cathair
FC Southern Ninestar 0-2 KT Moreazerua
Fligsive FC 1-2 Oljestaden IF
Westonbirt City 1-0 KT Itzalovalle
Crystal Mertagne 0-0 1830 Cathair FC
Lesko Pavillion 1-2 AC Izotz Zubia
Baudelaire Tulips 0-0 Wozinitz Wonderers

Burgess finally clashed against Nostromo, in a game that both sides had been waiting for for weeks. The result was a 2-1 win to Burgess, but seeing as they had the home advantage, it was what the pundits were expecting. What they weren’t expecting was Shamrock Cathair upsetting Magnaeus in the Bird Cage, showing the home side who really rules the roost with a 1-0 win and a steely defence that Magnaeus just couldn’t claw through. Crystal Mertagne played a game that went down to the wire against 1830 Cathair, who looked dominant throughout most of the match, but just couldn’t get the ball into the goal. It seems that Parish might have been making up for his mistake in the last game, but it still wasn’t enough for Mertagne to clinch victory. KT Moreazerua were dominant in their game against FC Southern Ninestar, and Hyford City Stadium was packed with Audioslavian fans that went mad once Joseph Lloyd failed to stop a second goal from the opponents.

MATCHDAY 16
Shamrock Cathair 2-3 Burgess FC
KT Moreazerua 0-3 Nostromo Meteorites
Oljestaden IF 1-1 Magnaeus City
KT Itzalovalle 2-1 FC Southern Ninestar
1830 Cathair FC 1-2 Fligsive FC
AC Izotz Zubia 3-2 Westonbirt City
Wozinitz Wonderers 2-4 Crystal Mertagne
Baudelaire Tulips 1-2 Lesko Pavillion

Matchday 16 marked the point in the season where we go around again, and it started off in an explosive manner much like the first day of the Liga. A floundering Shamrock Cathair side managed to put two goals into the back of Burgess’s net, but it wasn’t enough to counteract the three goals that had been scored by Burgess, all before the second half began. Nostromo wowed KT Moreazerua once again, this time at their ground, by winning 3-0. Fligsive took revenge for their Matchday 1 defeat against 1830 Cathair by winning 2-1 on the flipside, at The 66 Stadium. It seems D’Sauviterre managed to learn from his mistakes, but didn’t have the clean sheet he wanted, conceding a goal to Joseph Kennedy about an hour into the game. Lesko picked up an important victory on the Road versus Baudelaire Tulips, who have really suffered in recent matchdays with goalless draws and losses all over the place. KT Itzallovalle also managed to put one over FC Southern Ninestar, who seemed to lose all morale after a spate of losses against many high level teams.

MATCHDAY 17
Burgess FC 4-0 KT Moreazerua
Shamrock Cathair 2-1 Oljestaden IF
Nostromo Meteorites 1-4 KT Itzalovalle
Magnaeus City 1-1 1830 Cathair FC
FC Southern Ninestar 0-0 AC Izotz Zubia
Fligsive FC 2-1 Wozinitz Wonderers
Westonbirt City 1-1 Baudelaire Tulips
Crystal Mertagne 1-0 Lesko Pavillion

KT Moreazerua were wiped by Burgess at Sunrise Park, but in some good news for Audioslavians, KT Izalovalle were dominant at Point Impact versus the Meteorites, winning 4-1 after some superb skills from Txai Rodriguez and Ari Palsson. FC Southern Ninestar were back at home, this time facing up-and-comers AC Izotz Zubia, but luckily managed to hold the team to a scoreless draw that tested the mettle and sanity of both the teams and their fans. Crystal Mertagne pulled off an easy win against Lesko Pavillion, deciding that only one goal would be enough for the side to pull to victory. Fligsive played Wozinitz, and luckily scored a goal right at the end of the match thanks to a corner that gave them three points, and denied a suffering Wozinitz side of any. Oljestaden IF were tipped to take their away game versus Shamrock Cathair, but Shamrock surprised everyone when Brogan Farrell was called up to take a free kick, and scored it, putting them 2-1 up with just twenty minutes left in the match. Oljestaden seemed so shocked that they couldn’t recover from it, and a pleased home side left Glass Bridge Stadium with a win.

MATCHDAY 18
Oljestaden IF 1-1 Burgess FC
KT Itzalovalle 1-0 KT Moreazerua
1830 Cathair FC 0-1 Shamrock Cathair
AC Izotz Zubia 0-1 Nostromo Meteorites
Wozinitz Wonderers 0-0 Magnaeus City
Baudelaire Tulips 0-1 FC Southern Ninestar
Lesko Pavillion 0-1 Fligsive FC
Crystal Mertagne 2-0 Westonbirt City

The KT’s faced off again, with Itzalovalle taking the match once again, again by a single goal. Nostromo tackled Izotz Zubia and came out of the game with a 1-0 win, after Aaron Allen weaved his way past Peio Loyola and put a goal in between the posts. Oljestaden managed to tie against a Burgess side on the warpath, who were looking for more Audioslavian teams to take on after two consecutive victories in previous matchdays. The Cathair Derby ended with upset for 1830 supporters, as Shamrock took revenge for their earlier defeat by tying the aggregate scores up and winning 1-0. Wozinitz and Magnaeus fans were treated to a scoreless draw, and anyone that ventured into Pavillion from Fligsive would have found themselves laughing after Ron Carter scored an own goal in the 17th minute.

MATCHDAY 19
Burgess FC 2-0 KT Itzalovalle
Oljestaden IF 2-1 1830 Cathair FC
KT Moreazerua 1-1 AC Izotz Zubia
Shamrock Cathair 0-2 Wozinitz Wonderers
Nostromo Meteorites 2-2 Baudelaire Tulips
Magnaeus City 2-0 Lesko Pavillion
FC Southern Ninestar 1-1 Crystal Mertagne
Fligsive FC 3-2 Westonbirt City

Matchday 19 bought rain to Burgess, and in this awful weather they managed to pull away with two goals against KT Itzallovalle, securing another win and making them the bane of any and all Audioslavian teams. Rain was also present in Oljestaden, however this didn’t have much of an impact on the match, as the home side danced to victory against 1830 Cathair. Shamrock lost against Wozinitz, who were pleased to finally get another win, and it was Magnaeus’s turn to beat Lesko Pavillion, doing it better than Fligsive did, winning 2-0. Fligsive were busy at home, however, in a goal-fest against Westonbirt City that ended once Thomas Decker threw the scales off the pitch in the second half.

MATCHDAY 20
1830 Cathair FC 1-0 Burgess FC
AC Izotz Zubia 2-0 KT Itzalovalle
Wozinitz Wonderers 1-0 Oljestaden IF
Baudelaire Tulips 1-2 KT Moreazerua
Lesko Pavillion 0-1 Shamrock Cathair
Crystal Mertagne 1-3 Nostromo Meteorites
Westonbirt City 1-1 Magnaeus City
Fligsive FC 0-1 FC Southern Ninestar

1830 Cathair were comfortable in their home game on Matchday 20, and pulled of a victory for Audioslavians everywhere in the form of a 1-0 win against Burgess FC. The only Audioslavian team to not win against a Syndicatian counterpart was Oljestaden IF, as their visit to Patches Park was dampened not only by the weather, but by Neil Harris’s goal in the early end of the second half. Shamrock managed an away win versus Pavillion, who just didn’t seem to have the confidence against a team that had tied them once before. FC Southern Ninestar, proud ruiners of peoples day, managed to do the very same to Fligsive at the Flynn Arena, winning after an odd decision by the referee to offer a penalty to Phil Gulliver after he took a tumble after being tackled by Petr Cervinka. Reports flooded in across the DataLink that he took a bit of a dive, but the penalty resulted in a goal for Southern Ninestar, and ultimately, won them the game.

So after 20 matchdays, Burgess not sits at the top of the table by a single point, pushing Nostromo down to second, remaining three points clear of Magnaeus. AC Izotz Zubia continues to be the top Audioslavian team, with capital wonders 1830 Cathair struggling down in 7th. Still, they’re not doing as badly as Fligsive FC, who are sat down in 10th with the likes of Oljestaden IF. Lesko Pavillion hold the bottom of the table in place, along with Baudelaire Tulips, with just 14 points.

Season 1 - Matchdays 21-30

MATCHDAY 21
Burgess FC 0-2 AC Izotz Zubia
1830 Cathair FC 2-1 Wozinitz Wonderers
KT Itzalovalle 0-1 Baudelaire Tulips
Oljestaden IF 1-0 Lesko Pavillion
KT Moreazerua 1-2 Crystal Mertagne
Shamrock Cathair 0-2 Westonbirt City
Nostromo Meteorites 2-2 Fligsive FC
Magnaeus City 1-0 FC Southern Ninestar

They might not have known it yet, but the match between Burgess and AC Izotz Zubia was going to be a very important one indeed. Unfortunately for Burgess, they were outpaced by the Zubia squad on the day and failed to score a single goal at Sunrise Park, while Izotz Zubia managed two in the 90 minutes of the match. Elsewhere, Nostromo and Fligsive tied it up at Point Impact, with Fligsive improving on their performance from the last time the two teams met. KT Itzalovalle suffered an unfortunate loss to an invigorated Baudelaire Tulips side at The Antzerkia, with Jonathan Pike scoring Baudelaire’s goal in an unbelievable shot from past the halfway line. The video is certainly one to watch on the DataLink if you have the time!

MATCHDAY 22
Wozinitz Wonderers 1-1 Burgess FC
Baudelaire Tulips 0-2 AC Izotz Zubia
Lesko Pavillion 2-0 1830 Cathair FC
Crystal Mertagne 0-3 KT Itzalovalle
Westonbirt City 1-0 Oljestaden IF
Fligsive FC 0-0 KT Moreazerua
FC Southern Ninestar 2-0 Shamrock Cathair
Magnaeus City 1-1 Nostromo Meteorites

The Woz held it together in Patches Park to tie against Burgess, and Fligsive did the same against KT Moreazerua. Itzalovalle cleaned up against Crystal Mertagne, making the side look sluggish by scoring three goals in the space of seven minutes. Lesko managed to take a victory at the Big Top against 1830 Cathair, who were certainly embarrassed that their trip to Pavillion resulted in no goals, and no points. Powell Pieran claimed that there must have been something in the water prior to the game.

MATCHDAY 23
Burgess FC 2-0 Baudelaire Tulips
Wozinitz Wonderers 0-1 Lesko Pavillion
AC Izotz Zubia 2-0 Crystal Mertagne
1830 Cathair FC 1-1 Westonbirt City
KT Itzalovalle 1-0 Fligsive FC
Oljestaden IF 0-1 FC Southern Ninestar
KT Moreazerua 0-3 Magnaeus City
Shamrock Cathair 1-2 Nostromo Meteorites

Lesko battled against a team that was finally on their level, and came out of it with another win at Patches Park. Shamrock Cathair had the upper hand in their home game against the Meteorites for the entire first half, but it all came crashing down in the second when Ethan Sinclair and Henry Davies knocked in a goal each, with the latter goal coming in just twenty seconds before the end of the match. FC Southern Ninestar racked up another away win, this time against Oljestaden, who put up a great fight to stop any more goals being scored after the first one. Felix Kaestner scored himself a hat-trick in Magnaeus City’s game against KT Moreazerua, showing an Audioslavian home crowd that outsourcing your talent can really pay off. But they probably knew that already.

MATCHDAY 24
Lesko Pavillion 1-1 Burgess FC
Crystal Mertagne 0-0 Baudelaire Tulips
Westonbirt City 2-2 Wozinitz Wonderers
Fligsive FC 2-2 AC Izotz Zubia
FC Southern Ninestar 1-1 1830 Cathair FC
Magnaeus City 0-2 KT Itzalovalle
Nostromo Meteorites 0-1 Oljestaden IF
Shamrock Cathair 1-0 KT Moreazerua

Lesko, set out to grab any points they could with just six weeks left in the league, played a fantastic game of football against Burgess at the Big Top. They came out of it with a point, which was incredibly important as it annoyed the Burgess side immensely, as they were struggling to stay on top of the league. They soon found out that it’d been a bit of a wet weekend for many of their rivals, with AC Izotz Zubia tieing at the Flynn Arena, and Nostromo failing to score against a hyped Oljestaden side. Only two teams won their games, Shamrock Cathair and Oljestaden, as the rest of the weekend was home to some disappointing draws.

MATCHDAY 25
Burgess FC 2-0 Crystal Mertagne
Lesko Pavillion 3-0 Westonbirt City
Baudelaire Tulips 0-1 Fligsive FC
Wozinitz Wonderers 1-1 FC Southern Ninestar
AC Izotz Zubia 0-2 Magnaeus City
1830 Cathair FC 2-0 Nostromo Meteorites
KT Itzalovalle 5-1 Shamrock Cathair
Oljestaden IF 1-0 KT Moreazerua

Wins! Wins everywhere! For half the teams, anyway, and KT Itzalovalle did it in style with a 5-1 victory over Shamrock Cathair, with Peio Zabala on top form scoring two of the five goals. 1830 Cathair outpaced the Meteorites, bringing Dominic Archer to his knees after the second goal was scored at The 66 Stadium. Lesko Pavillion played host to Westonbirt, and many Westonbirt fans wished they hadn’t make the trek down south, as the home side took the three points in a 3-0 game that left one side ecstatic, and the other rather upset. Magnaeus took on Zubia, and came out the better side by two goals, one of which was scored from a corner by defender Josh Rogers.

MATCHDAY 26
Westonbirt City 2-2 Burgess FC
Fligsive FC 3-0 Crystal Mertagne
FC Southern Ninestar 4-1 Lesko Pavillion
Magnaeus City 1-0 Baudelaire Tulips
Nostromo Meteorites 1-0 Wozinitz Wonderers
Shamrock Cathair 1-4 AC Izotz Zubia
KT Moreazerua 0-1 1830 Cathair FC
Oljestaden IF 1-0 KT Itzalovalle

Fligsive continued to wind up the wins machine with a 3-0 victory over Crystal Mertagne, which saw goals from Oleg Evseev, Gregory Martin, and Bruce Freis. Oljestaden scored a single goal against KT Itzalovalle, but it was enough for a win as Jan Holgarsson managed to keep on his toes and put a stop to any of Itzalovalle’s shots on target, of which there were several! Izotz Zubia racked up some important points where Burgess didn’t, scoring 4 goals against Shamrock Cathair, with Mintxo Ybarra holding no punches against the Cathair team. FC Southern Ninestar managed to score four times against Lesko Pavillion, as Pavillion’s defence seemed to fall apart after Owen Stanley was sent off the pitch for arguing with the referee over a tackle that was made to one of his teammates. Magnaeus’s game against Baudelaire Tulips was rescheduled for a later date after a structural weakness was identified in the Bird Cage. During the time the match was supposed to take place, one of the artistic supports came crashing down onto the pitch, ruining it. Thankfully, nobody was hurt, but the Magnaeus team didn’t have their home ground for the rest of the season, choosing instead to play in the Stadii di Plattini, home of FC Oberyn’s Shield.

MATCHDAY 27
Burgess FC 0-0 Fligsive FC
Westonbirt City 1-1 FC Southern Ninestar
Crystal Mertagne 2-0 Magnaeus City
Lesko Pavillion 2-0 Nostromo Meteorites
Baudelaire Tulips 2-0 Shamrock Cathair
Wozinitz Wonderers 1-3 KT Moreazerua
AC Izotz Zubia 4-0 Oljestaden IF
1830 Cathair FC 1-0 KT Itzalovalle

Izotz Zubia dominated Oljestaden at home, scoring 4 goals, which propelled them further up the league tables and put them in a position to take the title with just two more matchdays left to play. It did help that Fligsive blocked Burgess’s chances of a win at Sunrise Park, as the game was a 90 minute ebb and flow of the ball, which resulted in neither side scoring any goals. KT Moreazerua beat the Wonderers in a 3-1 game, the most shocking part of which was Neil Harris’s goal just ten minutes in. Lesko Pavillion also shocked us all once again, winning 2-0 against Nostromo Meteorites. It seems the home advantage is something that had a profound effect on the Pavillion team. Maybe it’s the comfort and the homely feeling of The Big Top, a football stadium that has the unique ability of being completely collapsible if an empty field is needed. Sure, it may take six weeks, but how many other stadiums can do that?

MATCHDAY 28
FC Southern Ninestar 2-1 Burgess FC
Magnaeus City 0-1 Fligsive FC
Nostromo Meteorites 0-1 Westonbirt City
Shamrock Cathair 1-1 Crystal Mertagne
KT Moreazerua 0-1 Lesko Pavillion
Oljestaden IF 0-0 Baudelaire Tulips
KT Itzalovalle 0-2 Wozinitz Wonderers
1830 Cathair FC 1-0 AC Izotz Zubia

Burgess, who hadn’t won a single game in two match days, continued this streak in matchday 28, where they lost to - you might have guessed it - FC Southern Ninestar. The Ninestar fans were very pleased with this, as it meant that Burgess were finally in with a shot of not taking the top spot. Being based in Hyford, FC Southern Ninestar saw Hyford FC go for the title twice against Burgess, but never seemed to take it once Burgess had established dominance. The Dual Kingdom Derby continued, and it was Fligsive that won this leg at the Stadii di Plattini, which may have been the reason that they pulled off a victory so easy. Magnaeus still hadn’t quite adjusted to the glaring purple of the Stadii’s architecture - it was a very alien environment from their roost up in The Bird Cage. Across the pond, 1830 Cathair clawed three points from Izotz Zubia, in a grudge match that saw the referee hand out no less than six yellow cards. Lesko Pavillion breathed a sigh of relief in Ibarretako Estadioa as Jaques Beadeu scored a goal that propelled them to victory.

MATCHDAY 29
Burgess FC 1-0 Magnaeus City
FC Southern Ninestar 2-1 Nostromo Meteorites
Fligsive FC 4-0 Shamrock Cathair
Westonbirt City 2-0 KT Moreazerua
Crystal Mertagne 1-2 Oljestaden IF
Lesko Pavillion 0-0 KT Itzalovalle
Baudelaire Tulips 1-1 1830 Cathair FC
Wozinitz Wonderers 1-1 AC Izotz Zubia

It was all to play for on the penultimate matchday, and Fligsive FC decided to take out their anger on Shamrock Cathair, in response to many disappointments throughout the season. The four goals that were scored were all scored with power, and Decker sullied his reputation with a rude gesture after he was tackled by Dylan O`Hara. FC Southern Ninestar topple Nostromo at home, and the Ninestar Arch seems to have developed a reputation to be a ground of giant slayers. Burgess, those giants themselves, grabbed their last three points against Magnaeus city, and by the end of the weekend they realised they needed a win, and needed Izotz Zubia to lose to take the league title. the only problem? Burgess was playing Nostromo. Away. Zubia was playing Pavillion. At home. Pavillion tied against KT Itzalovalle, and Burgess’s chances didn’t look very good on paper.

MATCHDAY 30
Nostromo Meteorites 3-0 Burgess FC
Shamrock Cathair 1-1 Magnaeus City
KT Moreazerua 1-1 FC Southern Ninestar
Oljestaden IF 2-2 Fligsive FC
KT Itzalovalle 3-2 Westonbirt City
1830 Cathair FC 0-0 Crystal Mertagne
AC Izotz Zubia 0-0 Lesko Pavillion
Wozinitz Wonderers 1-1 Baudelaire Tulips

The results reflected predictions, but not to the degree that they could have done. Burgess lost against the Meteorites, as they had an enthusiastic team that was itching to take third place from Magnaeus, but Izotz Zubia could only manage a tie against a Pavillion side that looked determined to prevent an Audioslav team from winning the league. Shamrock Cathair looked to do the same, as they played Magnaeus and knocked them down a peg or two by scoring a goal to equalise just before the end of the first half. Nostromo and KT Itzalovalle were the only two teams to pick up a win, and it helped them both immensely, with Nostromo taking third from Magnaeus (just), and Itzalovalle edging ahead of FC Southern Ninestar by 1 point. Just goes to show that the smallest teams can often have the biggest impact.

And there we have it. With a close race down to the final matchday, AC Izotz Zubia wins the first season of the LigAnaia. Their 2-0 victory over Burgess in Matchday 21, coupled with their 3-1 win on Matchday 6, gave them the head-to-head result they needed to take first place. Burgess slot into second, just three points away from Nostromo and Magnaeus. 1830 Cathair rounds off the top 5, with 47 points in what was a season full of promise, but just didn’t live up to expectations.

KT Itzalovalle should be pleased with their sixth place spot, stolen from FC Southern Ninestar on the final matchday. Westonbirt City and Oljestaden IF were two teams that are incredibly alike - but Westonbirt proved to be slightly better when they faced each other. This meant that Oljestaden IF missed out on Globe Cup qualification by the smallest of margins, as only teams within the top half of the league can qualify.

Fligsive are surely disappointed with their tenth place position, but are looking to improve next season with some rumoured high-wealth transfers on the way. Sitting in 12th is an incredibly happy Lesko Pavillion, who really went into the league as underdogs, and came out of it as a fairly respectable team, finishing higher than both KT Moreazerua and Shamrock Cathair, two teams that they struggled playing against.

Wozinitz and Baudelaire should be hanging their heads in shame, scraping a mere 25 and 24 points respectively, and finishing in the bottom two. Someone has to finish last, but I doubt Samuel Recket was expecting that it would be his team.

The Inevitable Syndicate (TIS) Stadium Bids

Champions' Cup: Flynn Arena, Fligsive (96,500 seat capacity)
The Flynn Arena. It's iconic. A stadium that the members of The Selection Committee know all too well, due to the many folders of pictures and descriptions that have been sent their way over the years. The IFA have decided to submit it again, and give the Selection Committee a friendly nudge and say "Look! It was used in the Vennskap Shield!". If that wasn't enough to sell you, it was also used for the final of the 66th World Cup, and sports a state of the art selection of facilities, most of which are struggling to stay afloat due to the cut by the recent government. The IFA also wishes to relay a message to Corvidae to The Selection Committee, claiming that if the Arena isn't picked, then all members that didn't vote for it at least once will be banned from travelling to the nation for three years. Their words, not ours.

Globe Cup: The Big Top (29,500 seat capacity)
Suprisingly, Sunrise Park wasn't submitted this year by the IFA for consideration in the Globe Cup. They decided to give the small city of Pavillion a chance, and present some sustainable future technology to the world. The Big Top is among the worlds first collapse-able stadiums, going from just a simple field to a fully fledged football stadium in just six weeks. It manages this through it's unique foldable technology, with sturdy supports that lock into place to create the stands. The stands are covered from all sides except the seating by a fire resistant tarpaulin, which is made from recycled plastic churned up on the shores of Lake Belk by the Syndicate Tsunami. It's not the biggest stadium in the world, but it's got a lot of character, and if someone warns of nuclear strike to the stadium six weeks in advance, they'll certainly be ready for it!

The Astograthian Football League: Season 659 Preview
Sponsored by
Image

The 26th season of Astograthian football is ready to go! Will Urbizania Wanderers, boasting what is possibly their best squad ever, become the first to win three titles in a row? Can Royal Rumiatzi equal Ituraitz FC seven-record title? Can Ituraitz FC make it eight? Can Echegoyan FC lunge in and make themselves felt? Can Astograth University recover under new management to come back and break the top four? Will Oyardo see off the challenge of Gesterlake? These questions and more, to be answered!

Another highly active transfer window saw First Division sending players to and from the whole wide world. Leaving Astograth were a number of teenage prospects seeking greener lands in which to grow, though some national team players found new homes following Olibondeka qualifying for World Cup 67. Baladi Berhongaray and Churio Sesma, the brilliant Gesterlake full-backs, left for Ungalb Parkatsee of Earent and Raynor City United of Valanora respectively, and Agoztar Ibarran moved to important Apoxian side Dwile Warriors.; Etor Yauregialzo likewise added some white diamonds to his shirt going from Ituraitz FC to Northbrook Diamonds FK of Polar Islandstates. Others to leave the league include Iturributan sensation Ibon Galdo to La Nueva Avenida of Farfadillis and Lander Estrougamou to the excentric adventure of Tropicorp FC in the Nationstates Premier League.

Coming in, East Railway look to mount a challenge by signing Charruterran forward Aísahaldu Arahayán, and Athletic Club Rumiatzi's new Guayabelense manager Roberto Cornejo has brought in coutnryman forward Leónidas Brêgoô. Likewise, Astograth University's new Equestrian manager Moon Dust has replaced the old Argider Gorriaran with Gentle Breeze, star of the Equestrian States national team – costing 15m dirus, it's a First Division record for a goalkeeper. Oyardo FC scrounged up what money they could find to splurge on Hornchurch's Sameban forward Julius Carrera and FC Capri's Tanna Norovathar of Valanora. Meanwhile, Echegoyan FC got their very own Mytanar defender in Vidoslav Kovacic and Royal Association emulated AU by loaning Equestrian midfielder Rosie Tyler after Equestrian manager Mariner took over to see them through this season and hopefully many more. Blue Mountain Range took in the fairly unknown but fantastically named Daineri forward Power.

As for the really big names, Ituraitz FC threw money around to sign a fourth Polarian to their squad, Terns centre-back Aapo Nordenberg from East Franz Athletic; Mytanar national team midfielder Tikhon Voronin from Liria Prizren; and the spectacular Sunrisian Namine Nagatomo. Similarly, Urbizania Wanderers reached out and snapped up Valladar midfielder Juan Pablo Reyes, whom they spent just shy of 23m dirus on.

The headlines were dominated by one transfer, though. Sam Ashtree, Euran World Cup winner and Ulsa forward, transferred to Royal Rumiatzi to supersede Ellis Elmsvikur for a First Division-record 50 million dirus – breaking Elmsvikur's own 40m record in his transfer from Iturributa United to Royal Rumiatzi. All eyes and cameras will be on the lad this season, as the Knights expect their investment to win them titles. Plural.

Shirt Sponsor: Farautoo (Polarian vehicles)
Notes: Two seasons, two titles, one double. Atzeden Lusa is living the dream, but defending the title again would be unprecedented in Astograthian football. Even if Wanderers are the top candidates, with a tremendously talented, cosmopolitan squad that Lusa has been able to adapt and transform, shifting out the old in favour of bold new players. Laborious Hawk continues to offer an axis of continuity, Kaitanen and Ferreyra are at the peak of their game, Reyes is eager to make his mark and Kâí still has his whole career ahead of him to amaze and astound. Iribarnegaray, Lusa's big bet to replace the legendary Edwardo Baez, is one to keep an eye on in this most formidable of teams.

Shirt Sponsor: Torstebank (Blockhead banking)
Notes: Sam Ashtree. Sam Ashtree. Sam Ashtree. The whole of Rumiatzi seems to revolve around the young Euran forward, not without reason – a record transfer fee has just been paid for a world-class World Cup winner and everyone wants to know if he can live up to the hype at the proudest club in the league. Arambilet may have neglected the defense in strengthening the attack after Elmsvikur's departure, but there is no denying that this version of the Knights is a thing to fear, with a number of internationally renowned stars. Another World Cup winner, Aintôrthea Durosa, has quitely taken up the captain's armband, and under her captaincy there could yet come great things to Rumiatzi.

Shirt Sponsor: Yogutz (Astograthian dairy products)
Notes: Though they're quite content to maintain themselves up high, it is well within Echegoyan FC's reasonable wins to go all the way and win the title; to that effect Garoa Larzondo has brought in Mytanar centre-back Vidoslav Kovacic and Iturributan national team goalkeeper Agoztar Ilarduya to bolster the defense, reckoning that going forward is not quite the Highlanders' problem. With highly talented players at the peak of their careers, gathered around the young and ever-surprising Laurin Mankisidor, silver could be coming to Silanes Park – but the bookies still think they'll finish fourth.

Shirt Sponsor: ChocoMilk (Citiz dairy products)
Notes: They've gotten used to being the most successful side in Astograth – what with being chosen the UICA Club of the Century for Astograth – but have embarrassingly let the last three seasons slip from their grasp. Criticised for resting on their laurels, Ichaso Chapitel is running out of time to put Ituraitz FC back where they believe they belong. Vadim Illich-Svitych has done well to make up for Ibai Kiriano, and with Richelieu forms another trademark Ituraitzi striking pair, quick and deadly. Alec Vordeau, singled out as a weak link and an excentric purchase, has been displaced by Sunrisian Namine Nagatomo; Ikatz Alberro retires and leaves his place to Mytanar Tikhon Voronin, and Etor Yauregialzo's place in defense is now occupied by tested Tern Aapo Nordenberg. Some radical changes, but radical is what Ituraitz FC's recovery has to be – and it will hinge on Voronin and Nagatomo controlling the midfield.
Season 658: 4th

Shirt Sponsor: Dukomm (Astograthian telecommunications)
Notes: Gesterlake did very well to leave behind Astograth University and Oyardo FC to take fifth place and the final Globe Cup spot; that they went out in the first preliminary stage left them with a bitter taste, and so has losing some of their best players. Both full-backs, national team players, are gone; the faithful Georges Allonts remains as captain. The young Aitzol Berabe, with a great future, is off to Wanderers. The core may be the same, but Vaudrail and his men have very hard work to do if they want to repeat last season's performance.
Season 658: 5th

Shirt Sponsor: Astek (Astograthian electronics)
Notes: Ubelteso Adin has been sacked and Equestrian manager Moon Dust, the most successful of that nation's history, been brought in to sort things out at Astograth University. The reasoning being that the club has a star-studded squad that is simply not working together and cannot afford to continue falling behind the leaders – and especially not sinking so low as finishing below Gesterlake FC and out of the Globe Cup positions. Equestrian national team goalkeeper Gentle Breeze has been signed to further reinforce AU's iron defense, while Moon Dust hopes to at last impose a style of play that yields good results from these good players.
Season 658: 6th

ImageImage
Oyardo FC
Ground: The Willows (45,300), Oyardo
Colours: White and red striped kit, black shorts and socks
Honours: Image 2 Royal Cups (651, 655)
Manager: Image Iban Balinaga
Lineup: Image Apal Barrandegi; Image Aitor Bustingorry, Image Adame Ordozkoiti, Image Lucas Holtzmann, Image Formerio Letzama; Image Yurpá Mêndêlöíndçêl, Image Mike Hazzard, Image Rodrigo Defederico, Image Tanna Norovathar, Image Peli Alzu (C); Image Julius Carrera
Shirt Sponsor: MaksiMerk (Astograthian supermarkets)
Notes: Iban Balinaga has guided Oyardo FC well, but having dropped down to seventh last season the board have given him the green light to make some big changes – which require big money. Goalkeeper Zuriko Eliz, third-choice for Olibondeka, was packed off to Sporting Iturributa in order to raise money, Ituraitz FC's second-choice Apal Barrandegi eagerly replacing him. Faced with the slowing down of Eguzki Berriex, Sameban striker Julius Carrera has been brought in to spearhead the attack, and Vanorian Tanna Norovathar to be a threat down the right. The Mêndêlöíndçêl – Defederico – Alzu midfield spine is still formidable; Iban Balinaga's men can realistically aim for Globe Cup qualification.
Season 658: 7th

Athletic Club Rumiatzi
Ground: Gotorlekua (42,000), Rumiatzi
Colours: White and blue striped shirt, blue shorts and socks
Honours: None
Manager: Image Roberto Cornejo

Shirt Sponsor: Rumikola (Astograthian soft drinks)
Notes: 8th place was a big improvement for Athletic Club Rumiatzi – but the board were clearly not content with Arkaitz Goyenola on a personal level and have sacked him without remorse. Guayabelense manager Roberto Cornejo, previously at the infamous Alianza F.C., is the board's unfancied candidate, and he has hit the ground running by bringing in his countryman Leónidas Brêgoô and veteran Iturributan forward Totakoxe Riarte, Orkatz Kalaorra and Itzaina Soreasu having been sold to Ituraitz FC and Gortz United respectively. Otherwise Cornejo has a talented squad at his disposition, but in choosing to maintain the controversial 4-3-3 he'll need to ensure his forwards are up to the task – and shamed Slembanan superstar Eddie Barlow is not exactly at the peak of his years.
Season 658: 8th

Athletic Club Olarria
Ground: North Point Stadium (44,270), Olarria

Lineup: Image Bela Darkibel; Image Ekaitz Kastresana, Image Netto Hikari, Image Yosu Arankibia (C), Image Geoffrey Démont; Image Riemi Kakuta, Image Otto Partanen, Image Marko Korreche, Image Aita Garmendia; Image Victoria Hellion, Image Bakar Oronio
Shirt Sponsor: Barrertze (Astograthian tourism services)
Notes: It was messy, but Olarria managed to get the approval to sign former Iturributan national team boss Bayardo Morriyas... and to be blunt, he made his presence felt immediately in the backroom but not the pitch. He has good players backing him up, but there's a certain spark lacking in their play, and without either Agozti Ibarran or Ibon Galdo things get even more complicated in the creative department; Morriyas is taking a risk on the Royal Arexa's Aita Garmendia and youngster Marko Korreche.
Season 658: 9th

East Railway
Ground: Narbaitza Memorial Stadium (17,930), Rumiatzi
Colours: Grey and black striped shirt, black shorts and socks
Honours: None
Manager: Image Egoitz Malgor
Lineup: Image Ruslan Ahkmejarmov; Image Nuno Inyurrita, Image Luki Olake, Image Yakobe Nikuesa, Image Biryayo Madinabeitia; Image Flappy Likessquidnowandthen, Image Firmo Erkoreka, Image Bazkoare Beyanabe, Image Kelmen Anchia (C); Image Dominik Errekarret, Image Aísahaldu Arahayán
Shirt Sponsor: Senbesa (Astograthian insurance)
Notes: Second-tier domination, and SBCC final, twelfth place and then solid mid-table finishes, East Railway are climbing just fine under the expert management of Egoitz Malgor. Though they remain financially cautious, their sale of Lon Biyarba to Royal Association has provided funds to sign Firmo Erkoreka and Marin Sarruate from Ituraitz FC, as well as Charruterran striker Aísahaldu Arahayán; they look well-poised to seek another similar finish.
Season 658: 10th

ImageImage
Gortz United
Ground: Itsasargiberria Stadium (31,080), Gortz
Colours: All lavender kit
Honours: None
Manager: Image Gito Pizan
Lineup: Image Xuban Narbaya; Image Luar Berriatua, Image Mark Hughes, Image Ryan Oliver, Image Arano Baria; Image Tzemeno Baxterrika (C), Image Aketza Lacha, Image Azubeli Echeperestou, Image Casper Constable; Image Konrad Evans, Image Itzaina Soreasu
Shirt Sponsor: Henrik (Polarian banking)
Notes: They looked poised to challenge for Globe Cup qualification, but Gortz United dropped harshly to eleventh place and are engaged in a bit of soul-searching. Without either Bayarte Pagagartundua or Federico Ferreyra, Gortz have brought in Itzaina Soreasu to get those goals alongside Konrad Evans. With some more experience under the belt as a collective team, Pizan expects the defense to hold more strongly this season, while Azubeli Echeperestou and Casper Constable are expected to be their key through those difficult opposition backlines.
Season 658: 11th

ImageImage
Ituraitz Victory
Ground: Ituraitz Sporting Ground (63,000), Ituraitz – shared with Ituraitz FC
Colours: Blue shirt, white shorts, blue socks
Honours: Image 1 Royal Cup (639)
Manager: Image Steve Thompson
Lineup: Image Ametz Teyechea; Image Dei Zengotita, Image Igon Uribarry, Image Erramun Gambarri, Image Yelchu Apalategi; Image Abarrotz Ituarte, Image Bayardo Eskostegi, Image Loiola Muhaburu (C), Image Victor Äsmundsen; Image Aitzol Olaberry, Image Xuban Silar
Shirt Sponsor: Petromok (Astograthian petrol)
Notes: Steve Thompson's a good manager and having him in charge is certianly a step in the right direction for Victory, but the board is stingy and overrules most every transfer he tries to make to improve the club's poor results and bring them back to a respectable level. For now he relies on the likes of Victor Äsmundsen and Xuban Silar, brought in only after Victory were left with no decent forwards following the sale of Baladi Behelaborde to Royal Rumiatzi. Relegation is on the cards if Thompson can't think of a clever way out of this one.
Season 658: 12th

ImageImage
Blue Mountain Range
Ground: Ximun Orieta Sporting Ground (34,000), Echegoyan
Colours: All light blue kit
Honours: None
Manager: Image Bizi Boutayre
Lineup: Image Amberlocks; Image Edur Raizabal (C), Image Fronden Abel, Image Etor Oyhanar, Image Errolan Raskolin, Image Berdaitz Basaber; Image Hannibal, Image Marchot Zabaliauregi, Image Baleren Uruztarzu, Image Mikelatz Algarte; Image Power
Shirt Sponsor: Notzi Zombees (Taeshani energy drinks)
Notes: It appears to be a law of the universe that, no matter how poorly they do, Blue Mountain Range simply will not go down. The board seem to equate this with keeping Bizi Boutayre in his post, so there he stays despite being senile and continuing to disappoint the fans with performances that don't match the quality of the available players. The defense is strong as ever and they have a solid forward in Dainer's Power, but the midfield is a mess. It's either relegation or yet another close shave.
Season 658: 13th

ImageImage
South Factory
Ground: The Foundry (37,710), Rumiatzi
Colours: All yellow kit
Honours: None
Manager: Image Svennis Moller
Lineup: Image Rizvan Kadyrov, Image Ostadar Gurina, Image Gilen Salbarrei, Image Kelmen Berterrecho, Image Donostia Elgeno; Image Orkatz Gardeazabal, Image Michael Andrade, Image Iztal Kastaniaga, Image Yon Gayastegi (C); Image Sein Gorrachategi, Image Anixi Yaureguialzo
Shirt Sponsor: Poplaberg (Polarian housing)
Notes: South Factory have been struggling and Svennis Moller knows his neck is on the line this coming season – neither will go down without a fight and they've made an effort to revolutionise the club. Out with the doddering defense of old, in with young defenders shy of experience but eager to make their mark; out with unreliable strikers and in with Second Division top scorer Sein Gorrachategi and Ituraitz FC's Maurin Erlis. Gayastegi's a weak link, but Andrade can cover for him and either Doxagart or Sertegaray can replace throughout the season if the need is dire. For all their faults, Factory have stood up and don't quite look like going down this season.
Season 658: 14th

ImageImage
Urizaharra FC
Ground: Kaizubia (18,450), Urizaharra
Colours: All dark blue kit
Honours: None
Manager: Image Zorion Legeren
Lineup: Image Raitin Minaya; Image Luar Balerdi, Image Machin Kaldez, Image Endira Hiber, Image Remir Ligorria; Image Marchel Ybargengoitia (C), Image Minatsu Jinnai, Image Chordon Endara, Image Atseden Insaurralde, Image Oskitz Biyar, Image Gilamu Echegonkelhay
Shirt Sponsor: Cheruen (Astograthian beer)
Notes: Certainly not a strong side, but under the watchful eye of former Astograthian and Iturributan international Zorion Legeren, Urizaharra FC hope to stay in the top flight for longer than two seasons, having already beaten the tough initial hurdle. Chordon Endara, loaned sensation teenager Minatsu Jinnai, Egoi Besard and the young Gilamu Echegonkelhay have been pinpointed as the key players upon with Urizaharra must build upon, but competition will be fierce. Until Legeren's men (and lady) can prove otherwise, they are prime relegation candidates.
Season 658: 15th

ImageImage
Lermendia FC
Ground: Itzarrak Sporting Ground (21,450), Lermendia
Colours: White and green hooped shirt, white shorts and socks
Honours: None
Manager: Image Artzeiz Uhalt
Lineup: Image Isusko Kigarroa; Image Piarres Amoriza, Image Isusko Orostiaga, Image Anixi Larrategi, Image Pagomari Tsamudio (C); Image Ihazintu Monkaut, Image Laurin Ermigarat,Image Ekialde Zalakain, Image Gentza Estayo; Image Erramu Murgizur, Image Adon Aburto
Shirt Sponsor: Lantzia (Astograthian luxury vehicles)
Notes: Lermendia's drop to the Second Division was cruel but not unexpected. They're back on their feet after a brilliant second-tier campaign under the guiding hand of Artzeiz Uhalt, whom after many years in the lower tiers finally has his chance to manage in the First Division. The squad doesn't boast any big names, save for the newly-signed former Iturributan national team forward Adon Aburto, but Uhalt has been shrewd in bringing in a number of fringe players from big teams and easing in talented youths, such as Isusko Orostiaga and Ekialde Zalakain. It'll be tough to stay up, no doubt, but Lermendia have prepared themselves well for the coming season.
Season 658: Second Division champions

ImageImage
Royal Association
Hometown: City of Iturributa
Ground: Unity Stadium (33,500)
Colours: Black and white striped shirt, black shorts and socks
Honours: None
Manager: Image Mariner
Lineup: Image Axular Orobia; Image Yosu Beitia, Image Ubelteso Sorazabal, Image Yon Elgarte, Image Lore Iturritza; Image Gauargi Mugaburu (C), Image Rosie Tyler, Image Yakobe Zunzarren, Image Odon Arranz; Image Asentzio Sagastizabal, Image Lon Biyarba
Shirt Sponsor: Royal Bank (Astograthian banking)
Notes: The only Iturributan club to still play in the First Division, Royal Association have gone all-in this time. They've sacked their manager in cold blood and brought in the Equestrian Mariner, who was quick to secure the loan of Rosie Tyler, one of the Equestrian States' brightest prospects. He also rid himself of last season's Second Division top scorer Sein Gorrachategi, for good money, and instead brought in capped veteran Asentzio Sagastizabal, East Railway's Lon Biyarba and Royal Arexa's shining starlet, Yakobe Zunzarren. With a solid squad and an innovative gameplan, Mariner hopes to keep Association well clear of relegation.
Season 658: 2nd in Second Division

ImageImage
Antiguoko FC
Ground: The Enclave (32,700), Antiguoko
Colours: Red and white quartered shirt, red shorts and socks
Honours: None
Manager: Image Urdin Olibarri
Lineup: Image Charan Asteinza; Image Laurin Urpi, Image Xabat Aberastegi (C), Image Gero Echezuri, Image Soin Zumaeta; Image Igor Musatche, Image Odon Biartola, Image Anixi Oras, Image Itxaso Zuazubiskar, Image Garoa Sarrikolea, Image Mendiko Dicharry
Shirt Sponsor: KAT (Astograthian steel)
Notes: Antiguoko FC make their third appearance in the First Division and their big hope is that this time it'll be for longer than a single season. Urdin Olibarri remains at the helm but not for much longer if they can't make a stand and crawl up the table. They've got an Athletic Club Rumiatzi double in Odon Biartola and Mendiko Dicharry, as well as promising Farf-Astograthian Itxaso Zuazubiskar, but on the whole this team is not making a very strong case against dropping right back down.
Season 658: 5th in Second Division, promoted via playoffs

Cygnus Cup: SuperStade Tallonts, 67,000 Seated
Tallonts was a small mining town in northern Sicoutimont. Until the 1980's, it was barely known throughout Sicoutimont. However, the discovery of the North Sicoutimont area around this time opened this beautiful area to the outside world. Located on Lac-Tallonts, it is considered the premier resort destination in Sicoutimont. There were many government officials who lived here, and flew the 45 minute flight to the capital. When the Sicoutian Football League was founded, Tallonts was one of the first cities to be given a team. But a team is not a team without a stadium. There was no stadium in Tallonts, and construction companies did not want to have to build a large stadium by scratch for little pay. So, the people of Tallonts took it into their own hands. They built the first Stade Tallonts, which only sat about 6,700 people. However, it was the pride of the community, who had built it together. Feeling that the city deserved a better stadium, the SuperStade was built by construction companies. FC Tallonts moved into this new arena, which was built on top of the Stade. The wooden stands of the bottom of the seating area remain, while the new, metal sections are left on top. The bottom is where everyone wants to be, where events happen. The FC Tallonts Year-End Gala occurs here every year. And now, with the FC Tallonts team qualifying for the Cygnus Cup, the fans and team ownership decided this was the perfect time to show the world the Stadium they built. Visitors will enjoy many amenities in the city, and will find that Tallonts is a beautiful town fit to host the final of the Cygnus Cup.
