The Reformer,
Edited by Recep Adnek
Former President Ursula Weiler-Kotuk, widow of the late President Fazil Kotuk, has chosen to break her silence with an exclusive interview with this paper, of which we will only disclose the essential substance, not the actual transcripts. In this meeting, she admitted that she married the late President with the hope of influencing him toward reforms, but also that she became increasingly fond of the man, though disappointed when he hardened his attitude in the wake of the failed Islamic coup of 2011.
"The man had such vision, and yet he became corrupted and despondent, as well as disappointed in himself and the direction of the country, the party, the government, the entire revolution. He meant well for his people. He didn't intend this kind of totalitarian police state, not to the extent that we have now. He only wanted such measures as temporary expedients, not a permanent system of tyranny. While he disappointed me at times with his overreactions to events, he certainly impressed me in general, and many others, as a noble, patriotic, and loyal man who was betrayed by his own followers, those who most loudly claim to adhere to his principles.
"Be assured that he never wished the likes of Selim Targan or Tansu Galak on the nation, let alone the region. No doubt his spirit is haunted by the knowledge of what has become of his cause and his country, my adopted homeland. I think that now, in death, he wishes that he had done things differently, and so do I, but I still love and miss him. Only he ever held Targan and Galak in check. Without him, the nation and the region are poorer for the absence of his tempering, restraining hand, keeping us from the abyss of hard-line, Orwellian fascism. Without him, there is no alternative to brutal repression but revolution itself. I'll leave it to your readers to decide what kind of revolution that needs to be," she told this reporter.
It is evident that even the Founder of Fascist New Othman hated this legacy and wished that he had done things differently. Yet his name and lip service to his principles are the means by which the likes of Selim Targan and Tansu Galak claim revolutionary and constitutional legitimacy. Be assured that when the day of reckoning comes for those people, the testimony of their deceased Founder shall be entered against them, as will the judgments of history and posterity.
One thing is very clear. It is time. High time to end this mess. Time to bring down the whole accursed edifice and institute a new regime, a new era for New Othman. We must not be idle. We must fight back and topple this regime at last. The other option is to be slaves, and it is better to die on your feet than to live on your knees.
