He'd probably be picked up from the nearest train station (Tempsford railway station on the East Coast Mainline) by a RAF truck.

Ground Combat Experience (Highly recommended, but not entirely necessary - this can be trained): He is very well trained with a pistol, specifically the Colt M1917.

Personal History/Bio (more than one line please):

James Abram was born in the city of Los Angeles to parents of Hungarian and Irish ancestry. He always had good grades in school and was incredibly athletic. His father fought in World War I, piloting a SPAD XIII, which got James interested in aviation. Every weekend, his father would take James up in their Stearman, and when he turned 16, he bought his own plane, a Beechcraft Model 17 Staggerwing. At the age of 18, James was admitted into UCLA, a prestigious university, staying for the full four years. After college, and trying to figure out what to do with his life, he joined the International Brigades of the Spanish Civil War, piloting aircraft such as the Fokker D.XXI and the Polikarpov I-16. After two years, James decided to return home and serve his home country, becoming a pilot for the Army Air Force. He was based in Panama, flying P-36s, and Pearl Harbor, flying P-40s. After the attacks, an old man from the Pacific Air Forces Command, not trusting James due to his involvement in Spain, made falsified accusations in order to have him discharged. Still wanting to help in the war, Abram went to Excalibur Squadron.

A) What attacks? We're almost a whole year away from Pearl at this point.
B) Any particular thought process behind going to Spain?
C) Do you actually really plan on participating this time as opposed to apping two chars and then never actually RPing with us? Roster space is getting kinda tight, and I do need an honest answer here, given your past record.

A) Ah, I thought the latest mission was December of 1941, I guess thats what you get for making an app at 11 pm after a long day hiking in the mountains. :p
B)I as planning on making a series of backstories that will explain the process.
C) Indeed, I do plan on actively participating in all upcoming RPs as much as I can. I regret not participating before, it was just a very bad time for me. Now I have much more time. I hope you will forgive me for that.

As I said before, I will make the changes to my app.

If we go to China, I get to fly a Warhawk, I mean it, I wanna fly CAP or Recon and just go Warhawk all over the enemy pilots. Imma get my .50 cals all over their planes. BTW, Jonah is at the major launching point for his Character Arc right now, anyone want to try to intervene?

Yeah...some nice war crimes you've just committed there :P

You'll get no complaint from Stanford. The only reason he doesn't do the same is because he tends to kill the pilot before he can bail out. The Wellington's tail gunner, who may or may not have seen what happened, mightn't be so happy about it.

I looked it up, not actually a war crime, it's preventative action, any combatant that is one-way or another still dangerous to all the rest in that theater are deemed suitable targets. A pilot that has bailed out is a flight hazard to all other aircraft as well as a potential combatant. I also dove ahead and below the Wellington, so the tail gunner sees nothing, we dove into a light cloud bank so we're slightly obscured, but you might be able to see Jonah turn about to jockey in for another good shot.

I do believe I've told a lie. The most overrated team, this year anyway, resides in Kansas City. They have no business being 9-2. The Pats, I'm afraid to say, I get to watch win twice a year. Yeah, I can see how one could call the Queefs overrated. Most of my Pats hate is because of Brady. I don't know why, I just don't like that guy. At least we can all agree, however, that Oakland sucks.

This question may or may not be pointless.

Exactly how bustling/busy is the Tempsford railway station? I expect it to be rather empty, but I'm not sure.

My bio and picture have been updated, and I made this backstory to prove my loyalty to the RP.

I present to you, Sortie to Hell: Part I; Bad Timing
April 30th, 1937
Aboard the Yeysk
Off the Coast of Almeria
0700 hours Local Time

James Abram rolled out of the "bed," if you could call it that, and went over to look out of a dirty and cracked window of the steamer Yeysk. The Yeysk was an old Russian transport ship from the late 19th century. Chipped paint and cracks lined the craft, and bullet holes remind of its days in The Great War. The rusty and sputtering engines are in dire need of retirement, and the creaking wood beneath you threatens of falling through to the next floor below. What a piece of crap, James thought.3 days to sail a mere 600 miles.

The lieutenant was then hit with an overwhelming scent of tobacco and turned around to find his bunkmate, a Romanian man named Antonis, sitting in a desk. Antonis didn't speak much English, and Lieutenant Abram didn't speak Romanian, but both spoke Italian. "Buongiorno, Antonis." greeted James in Italian. "What are you doing?" The Romanian swiveled around. "I am writing letter to my mother." He announced. "Telling her I have arrived." Antonis was interrupted by the speaker above him. "Prepare to disembark. We arrive in Almeria in five minutes." the voice uttered in a thick Russian accent.

In the harbor, a group of 50 or so volunteers fell into formation before a tall Russian man, from the looks of him about fifty-five and ex-military, standing on a large pile of boxes to elevate him. "Gentlemen," he shouted. "Welcome to Spain. The Republic thanks you for volunteering for a just cause. Tonight, we will stay in an abandoned hotel before you go your separate ways. Get a good night's sleep men, for you shall have many long days ahead of you.

"Antonis!" James yelled. "Antonis! Can you hear me?" Its been less than five minutes since the shells started falling, lighting up the dawn in the Republican town. The roof of the hotel room had collapsed, trapping Lt. Abram's bunkmate. "Antonis!" he cried one last time before another large explosion erupted and section of concrete fell inches from him. He had to leave. He had to forget the Romanian and get out of there. James stumbled through the damaged hall along with many other volunteers. A cry for help could be heard from a nearby room, but nobody stopped. Nobody except James. He entered the room and found a young man, about 19, with his lower body trapped under rubble. He tried as hard as he can to pull him out, glancing at the crumbling hall and debating wether to leave the boy and run. Finally, he managed to slip out and they evacuated the building, finding many dead along the way. The two just barely managed to escape before the building collapsed, but only found about half the volunteers outside. A shell fell not too far from them, sending them flying like bowling pins. "We need to get out of here!" they yelled in unison and started running. James spotted an abandoned BMW and hopped in, started the car, and sped away. They made it to a hilltop outside the city.

"I didn't catch you name." claimed James as they looked upon the burning village. "Mike Rider, from Chelsea. You?" James looked at him. "A Brit, eh? Interesting. My name is James Abram, from Los Angeles. You know where that is, right? Anyway, where were you supposed to go?" Mike kicked at the dirt. "I was supposed to be a pilot at the 'Aeródromo de Rabassa'" he said, trying to pronounce the words in a Spanish accent but failing terribly. "Really? Me too." Abram got back into the car. "No use staying here, what say you we help each other get there." Mike got in the German machine and they sped off, leaving what used to be the town of Almeria.

I must point out it's pretty useful to have actual British people in this RP for the little details like that. :p

Fine, then.

Excellent.
Kerblaekistan wrote:C) Indeed, I do plan on actively participating in all upcoming RPs as much as I can. I regret not participating before, it was just a very bad time for me. Now I have much more time. I hope you will forgive me for that.

No problem, glad to hear it's an affirmative answer.
As such, you're accepted.
Jesus, we're going to have a lot of people. Better too many than too few, though.

Yeah, it's kinda gonna have to be a thing.

That's...a bit of a stretch. I doubt many military courts would see it that way.

meh

Exactly how bustling/busy is the Tempsford railway station? I expect it to be rather empty, but I'm not sure.

Small local railway station...probably not busy.

You know GOram, for an actual Brit, you seem to know quite a lot about American "football". I mean, you seem more into it than I ever am - I tend to avoid watching sports because of how hyped up I get, especially during the Olympics.

Well, for the details about Tempsford's surroundings in my opening post, I simply used Google Maps as a friend

For the nitty bitty details revolving around WWII Britain, Excalibur has actually prompted me to skim through the countless WWII books that I have in my room; the most useful one currently being The Battle of Britain, a coffee table collaboration between Len Deighton, the author of Bomber which GOram seems to base his writing style off of (he even comes to pasting an entire passage off the book regarding the German "market town of Altgarten" in his one-shot where Stanford's brother is killed), and Max Hastings, who should be obvious to most of us history buffs here.

You've got good and decent grammar, perhaps the most important aspect of being a great RPer. My only complaint is that it could've been more fleshy and longer, but those are just simply personal preferences: many of the best one shots here are those that are longer and thus holding more details, check Tiger, Jersey, Morrdh, and GOram's one shots to see what I mean.

One thing about the way I laid out Vegesack's application was that I planned on inserting events that would be explained via one shots later on. Due to the fact that his ventures in the Spanish Civil War intertwine with the Excalibur canon the most, I plan on releasing his stories in some sort of reverse chronological order, revolving around his current RAF service first and so on backwards in time.
