The Western Chronicle Network (WCN, sometimes shortened to Western Chronicle) is an Erucian private journalism company owned by Jefferson Andrews, the acting Chairman of WCN. Founded in 1870 and operated out of Palmont City, Palmont, it is the premier news provider in the Democratic Union that reports through printed (The Western Chronicle), televised, online and radio news services. This allows the group to provide a wide array of reporting to a larger audience than restricted, single-outlet news services.
With a large holding of journalists, WCN is able to provide news from most locations on the planet: both domestic, regional and international. All reporters contracted by WCN are held to rigid expectations: journalists are expected to preform their duties with honor and truthfulness, with the goal of providing honest news to the world citizen. In addition, all articles and reports given on WCN provide fresh and complete stories, avoiding one-sided bias or preference.
Using these guidelines, WCN has succeeded in maintaining an honorable reputation domestically as a trustworthy news provider. In addition, the Western Chronicle Network is a member of the Pardesian News Network, a multinational initiative designed to cover significant events in the Pardes region to local Pardesians and the wider international community.
Western Chronicle Network is a subsidiary of Western United.
"The Western Chronicle Network has, for 153 years, prided itself on providing news to everyone from the everyman to the elite. And for those 153 years, the sense of honor that has been held at the very center of our journalists and staff has allowed our group to prosper and maintain a sense of accuracy that has been frighteningly decreasing in modern reporting outlets. Armed with pencil, paper and voice, our journalists have maintained this sense since our early days of being a small firm operating out of a two-story brick office building in what was to become downtown Plamont City.
The paper boy was the first to deliver the news, standing from his point at the bustling sidewalks and shouting out headlines as he waved the latest edition. From the paper boy arose the horse-back courier, who took Western Chronicle papers from the stone street's corner to outside of the big city and to the countryside settlements and ranches. Couriers traded their horses in for cars, taking part in the turning of the technological era just as the rest of the world was changing too. Radio soon took flight, and WCN followed. Television followed, delivering the truth not just through sound, but through sight. The internet brought the newspaper online, and thus expanded the audience from millions to billions.
In short, WCN has been there alongside of the world: evolving and changing, just as the world did. But the one thing that did not change was our sense of honesty, and the desire to deliver the truth to the people.
Thus, I pride myself in being a part of Western Chronicle Network."
