-Current Flag-
Civilization Name: Taehan Interstellar Empire
Civilization Age: 2400 years (as in, human civilization around the year 2400. The Empire is 600 years old.)

Government Type: The Taehan Empire is a union of Earth's nations as well as numerous off-world and extra-solar colonies. All governing power in the Empire is derived from the capital in Hanseong; Imperial national law is the uniform, supreme law across the Empire.

The Empire's head of state and head of government are both positions held by the Taehan Emperor, always a well-decorated military officer who has earned the right to rule either through the favor of the previous Emperor or through a military coup. The Emperor has the power to conduct all affairs of state himself (though he mostly delegates such affairs to his subordinates,) and all government decisions on a national level must be approved by him. However, the Emperor's actions must not violate the Nine Imperial Mandates, lest the military and the citizenry be obligated to turn upon him.

Once the Taehan Emperor has obtained his position, he holds it for life, whether it ends by natural causes or is cut short by a bullet.

Legislative power is given to the unicameral Imperial National Assembly. The Imperial National Assembly works in a simple manner: in order for a mandate to be brought to the Emperor for approval, two-thirds of the Assembly must approve of it and ensure that it does not violate any of the Nine Imperial Mandates. Each of the seven star systems in the Empire is given two representatives, military officers hand-picked by their superiors and brought before the Emperor for review and approval.

The only political party in the Empire is the Korean Nationalist Front, which is controlled by the military.

Judicial power is vested in the Imperial Ministry of Justice. The Minstry of Justice runs every single court in the Empire, and holds the authority of judge, jury and executioner. As with the other two branches of the Imperial government, the Ministry of Justice must abide by the Nine Imperial Mandates lest they suffer a purge.

Government Information: Nothing else truly worth knowing, though the current Taehan Emperor is Grand Marshal Jeong Tae-Won
Government Status: Stable.
Population: 791 Billion

Home World/Capitol: Hanseong, Kel-Elysian Mainland (fictional peninsula between Sakhalin and Kamchatka, connected to the Russian Far East via land bridge,) Earth, Sol System
Capital Status: The Imperial capital of Hanseong has grown to absorb every other city within the far western quarter of the Kel-Elysian Mainland, and its population has swelled to nearly 500 million people. Although the standard of living is decent in most areas, the city is very crowded and afflicted heavily by organized crime.
Notable locations and such:
-Taeseong Fortress: Imperial complex housing the Taehan Emperor's throne, as well as many administrative offices of the Imperial government.
Founding Species: Human
Other Species: None
=========================================================
Society and Cultural information: Imperial society is based primarily upon Sino-Korean values and heavily Confucian in nature, but has evolved heavily with foreign human influences and immigration over the centuries. Imperial society, though openly accepting of humans regardless of race or ethnicity, is humanocentric and xenophobic; non-humans are not allowed in Imperial territory and are hunted down without respite once discovered. The Empire is also known to engage in wars of genocide against openly hostile alien species.

Imperial technology is highly advanced, especially in the fields of weaponry and medicine. Imperial pulse weaponry is highly sought after and of special note is Imperial rejuvenation medical technology, which uses genetically engineered bacteria to extend the lifespan of humans by at least twenty, usually fifty, years (depending on lifestyle,) and to slow the visual aging process. Rejuvenation bacteria has become so cheap that it is put into public water sources.

Society Status: A complex, well-advanced society, but warlike and xenophobic.

Languages: Korean (Official)

Economy: 7

Industry: Immense industrial capacity. The height of Imperial industrial prowess can be seen in the colossal shipyards and factories on Mars, Pluto and Alpha Centauri.

Production/Construction: Moderate-Fast. Advanced construction techniques make for fast and efficient production and building, though large projects such as starships and space stations still take time, usually one to two years. Resources can also be a problem.

Soopah Powah: Military. The Imperial Guard draws upon thousands of years of human military experience to form its doctrines; Imperial weapons technology is highly advanced, and the Empire's society can be seen as aggressive and militaristic.

Specialties/Advanced Sciences: Energy weaponry, cloaking, basic gravity manipulation technology, cell regeneration (medical,) rejuvenation.

Strengths: Advanced medical technology, population.

Weaknesses: Imperial aggression can lead to unnecessary, expensive warfare; natural need to expand due to use of resources.
=========================================================
Map Claim Size: 4/10 (7 star systems)
Grid Coordinates: The square that the Solar System would be around, and 3 squares around it.
Map Claim Color: Red.

Holdings/Territory: Take note that Imperial planetary naming standards for systems other than the Solar System place the number of the planet before the system name (for example, 3 Cheonha is the 3rd planet in the Cheonha system.)

-Solar System
--Chosun (the name for Earth unified under the Empire.)
--Hwaseong (Mars)
--Solar Asteroid Belt Stations
--Mokseong (Jupiter) Orbital Installations
--Haewangseong (Neptune) Orbital Installations
--Myeongwangseong (Pluto)
-Cheonha System
--Cheonha
--3 Cheonha
--5 Cheonha
--6 Cheonha
-Inheon System
--1 Inheon
--2 Inheon
-Taegeuk System
--3 Taegeuk
--5 Taegeuk
--7 Taegeuk
-Wonsan System
--Wonsan
--Wonsan Asteroid Belt Installations
-Seoul System
--Seoul
--4 Seoul
-Pyongyang System
--2 Pyongyang
--5 Pyongyang
-Inchon System
--Inchon
--2 Inchon
--3 Inchon
--4 Inchon

Colonization/expansion:
-Phase 1: Imperial scout ships discover a new planet ripe for the taking, whether inhabited or not.
-Phase 2: Imperial Guard Space Fleet warships arrive in orbit of the planet in appropriate force. Imperial Guard Ground Force troops and Marines are deployed to secure a planetary beachhead.
-Phase 3: Once the planetary beachhead is secure, the Imperial Guard Ground Force begins a campaign of pacification (in the case of human habitation) or extermination (in the case of non-human inhabitants.) In the case of an uninhabited planet, this phase is replaced with a phase of exploration by recon and survey teams.
-Phase 4: Imperial settlers begin to arrive and establish non-military centers of population.
=========================================================
Foreign policy: Aggressive expansionist; however, Imperial forces will not attack non-hostile ships without provocation.
Diplomacy: N/A

Technological Age: 386 years from the present day.

FTL Capabilities: High-speed; versatile. A long-distance warp jump with high accuracy will take several hours to plan out, and once the jump is complete the vessel will not be able to jump for four hours, lest the warp drive overheat and become damaged beyond the repair abilities of the ship's crew. Short, spur-of-the-moment emergency jumps are possible, but risky; such jumps are very inaccurate and put the warp drive under stress, not to mention the possibility of materializing inside of a star.

Inter Planetary Travel Fusion Drives, Prototype Repulsor Drives, Intrasystem Warp Jumps
=========================================================
Military Information: WIP, but it'll work.

Doctrine: See factbook.

Army: The Imperial Guard Ground Force employs versatile units that can adjust on the fly, but don't excel at any particular role. A well-equipped, well-trained, all-volunteer force backed by powerful tanks, aircraft and artillery, the Ground Force is a fearsome foe in ground engagements. They are either deployed from ships or planetary bases.

Navy: The Imperial Guard Space Fleet, while large in size, is somewhat more limited than that of other factions. Imperial ships rely upon speed, shielding and point defense systems to stay in the fight. On the offense, the Space Fleet employs directed energy, superheated plasma and photon-based weapons; boarding parties of Imperial Marines and Ground Force soldiers are also commonly used offensive tools.

Strengths: Land engagements of all types, offensive warfare of all types.

Weaknesses: Defensive space warfare, units do not excel at any particular role.
=========================================================
NS activity: Moderate
Technological Bases: Original, with hints of Warhammer 40k, Starcraft, Star Trek and Halo. Images courtesy of the Halo series.
Prior RP links: Only FT one I have. Currently in progress.

I still need a name for my nation. Something that sounds strange, but not cliche. What do you think of the Union?

Are we allowed more than one nation? If so, I will have a race of nomadic space walruses. Innately brilliant scientists and engineers, they routinely sow the seeds of life across many worlds, though no one is entirely sure if they are actually sapient.

I may even make them benevolent eldritch aliens, similar to how the Yithians are.

Lol, not that Union. The Union as a name makes more sense, but The Unity, in my opinion sounds cooler.

Perhaps they have no name. They refer to themselves as Us. What others refer to them as is irrelevant.

I really think that's what I'm going to do. The civilization don't have any name for themselves. People come up with names for them, like tin cans and calculators, but it doesn't bother them too much. I know organic robots are kind of overused, and don't make any sense, but in my defense, the nation I'm talking about now technically isn't organic. They just mimic organic life, and I'm justifying that by saying the nation reveres their creators.

So it wouldn't be godmodding if my androids are given new bodies upon deaths right? The downside is that it makes my population stagnant, and the process itself is extremely painful and disorienting, and sometimes doesn't work at all.

Give it 'least 1 year 'fore they do that.

Me, im planning to do a race, called The Genesis, which is made out of organic programming. Im still working on my compendium of the language, but basically it "uploads" to organic matter and sets up shop. It doesnt, however, work on living beings currently using organic programming.

In case your wondering, organic programming is genetic coding(1,0), evolution control of self(assembly sets), neural networking(input), and basic cell networking(output). Base sets are used by 1001110 organizations.

The "brains" of the androids are constantly transmitting their memories via radio waves. Whenever their operations are being conducted away from home, a ship is sent to remain relatively hidden in the same system as the operations. Inside the ship, hundreds of bodies wait to receive a consciousness. Whenever a memory stream is recorded of having stopped, it means the body died, and the memories for that individual are immediately sent into one of the dormant bodies. Upon waking, the individual is scared, disoriented and in pain. It takes about a week for the brain to accept the memories, and a few more weeks to get used to the new body.

The whole process takes about a month, sometimes it doesn't even work. That's called a unacceptance scenario, where the memories don't stick to the brain. It doesn't happen often, but it's a big deal because the memories are lost.

Hey Kyuria, I'm actually feeling like playing as a few individual characters. I think it would make a nice change of pace considering the last few things I've been involved in. If I do this, do I still have to fill out the Nation App as well or just the Species App? I'm thinking of fleshing out 'The Wrecking Crew' that I had originally thought up for Infinity which I'm no longer a part of... That, and I could use the laughs from all the comedic relief.

There were four crew members and Bruticus and they flew around in their interstellar jalopy like some misfit family... I've included the two posts from the first infinity that they were involved in to show you who I'm talking about.

SS Viator
In Warp Space
En-route to the Citadel, Vortukia

-The SS Viator
Image

The SS Viator… To put it bluntly, the ship was a piece of shit. Old, outdated, poorly armed, and held together with duct tape and chewing gum, the Viator had a tendency to rattle like a bucket of bolts while traveling through warp space. Sad yes, but unfortunately necessary for the ships true purpose as a covert transport for a group of Nyte’s Spec-Intel agents. The old civilian freighter had spent the last decade ferrying small groups of agents from one place to the next, and while it was far from glamorous, it somehow managed to get the job done without falling to pieces.

On the poorly lit bridge, the Viator’s pilot sat reclined in a lumpy, beat up old chair. Nursing a beer in one hand, the pilot was focusing not on flying the ship, but on the holo-pad resting on his lap playing an old, low budget porno vid. So engrossed in his ‘entertainment’ he didn’t hear the door to the Viator’s bridge slowly grind open on its faulty hinges.

The man who stepped through the door had clearly seen better days. In the latter part of ‘middle aged’, he walked with a heavy, pronounced limp and his grey eyes bore a look of weary resignation. Ducking through the door, the man silently approached the pilot from behind…

SMACK!

Beer, and moaning holo-pad both went flying through the air as the pilot jumped up; rubbing at the back of his head where he’d just been struck. “Dammit Cap’n, what was that for?... It was just getting to the good part” the pilot moaned.

“Hmm… How many times have I told you Romeo; No slacking off when you’re supposed to be flying the damn ship. This fucking rust bucket barely holds together as it is and here you are looking at cheap porn and drinking that piss in a bottle. You’re gonna’ get us all killed with your damned slacking… Now get back to piloting the damn ship before we fly into a black hole or some shit.”

“Yes Cap’n, sorry Cap’n” Romeo muttered as he sat back down and got back to piloting the ship. Still muttering, Romeo turned back to look at the Captain. “Why exactly are they sending us to this ‘Citadel' place anyway Cap’n? Hell, I’ve never even heard of the place before this mission.”

“That’s ‘cause you’re a womanizing idiot Romeo… If you spent half the time reading the mission briefings that you spend watching porn and hitting on our resident hacker, you’d know all about it.” Working a few controls on the console rigged to his command throne, a holographic display of the Citadel flickered to life on the Viator’s main screen. THIS is the Citadel. It’s the Vortukian capitol, and our handler thinks it’s the best place for us to go and get some intel on these people. Times are strange, and our job will be to feel these people out and see where they stand… There have been some odd rumors floating around lately on the intra-net, and reports of unknown craft being sighted in deep space. Our job is to find out what the Vortukians know; if anything, and to feel them out for either some trade agreements, or less likely, an alliance or non-aggression treaty.”

Turning off the display, the Captain paused a moment before adding. “And for fucks sake Romeo, don’t go hitting on every female we come across this time… I don’t think I’ve recovered yet from the last incident you caused at that little shit-hole space station we stopped at last week.”

“Yes Cap’n, sorry Cap’n” Romeo muttered to himself quietly, but not quietly enough.

SMACK!

SS Viator
In Warp Space
En-route to the Citadel, Vortukia

The Viator continued it’s not quite steady journey to the Citadel. The steady vibration of the ship failed to distract its crew; all of whom had long ago grown used to the slight shaking that seemed to drag on and on without end. In the main cargo hold, the ships resident hacker; and acting quartermaster Natalia Song busied herself with running another update on a piece of the ships extremely well hidden, non-standard cargo. Kneeling over an artfully concealed panel in the floor with several wires running from her holopad to the hidden control panel, Natalia performed her Nth status check on the AI controlled Medium Assault Mech hidden in the concealed bay under the floor.

-Bruticus
Viper Medium Assault Mech
Image
Background:
Crew: 1 Combat AI
Armament:
1 of the following
-Vengeance Laser Cannon
-60mm STAG Assault Cannon
-HLC3 "Halcyon" Laser Cannon
2 3 Barreled Laser Cannons
up to 2 Micro Missile Launchers

She’d named it Bruticus… In part because it was a brutally effective, psychotic, and bloodthirsty killing machine. Once upon a time, Bruticus had simply been a fairly bland Combat AI known as MAM175436; one of untold thousands of combat AI’s that the Nyte Defense Force used as a mainstay of its mechanized military forces. Two years, and several hundred highly illegal upgrades later and Bruticus was perhaps the most deadly AI ever developed; legally or otherwise.

Cooing at the control panel Natalia softly mumbled “Soon, my pet soon” as she finished another upgrade that should increase Bruticus’ reaction time by another 0.5%. Delicately stroking the panel, Natalia un-plugged the cables from the control panel and closed the hatch which blended back in seamlessly with the rest of the floor.

Standing up, Natalia laughed somewhat psychotically for a few moments before catching herself. Looking around the cargo bay with quick, sharp movements, Natalia checked to make sure her ‘little episode’ had gone un-noticed. Not seeing anyone, she quickly vacated the bay while mumbling to herself about computer algorithms and reaction speeds…

Although I'm thinking about changing the ship first as that image really isn't doing it for me anymore. Anyway, let me know what you think about the idea and which app(s) I'll need to fill out.

I also can't help but wonder if there are people more keen on playing as individual characters. As such, either to help better accommodate them or to help with the Important Characters section of the species app I might make an actual template for them.

I believe it can be both... At least if the above means what I think it does.

Ah, well that was part of my inspiration. The memories can only travel at the speed of light, and so technically you could send them between solar systems, but it would take 40+ years for them to get there. Not to mention the tendency of radio waves to become distorted the further away they go. Usually, the ships (womb ships?) are just outside the system, and attempt to hide themselves as well as possible, though true stealth is impossible.

I'm thinking that only class threes and class twos will have the uploading. It's not worth it for the lower AIs, and class ones are too powerful to be reincarnated. Class threes and twos are the closest they have to citizens. Fours, fives and sixes are pretty much just war machines and cheap laborers. They fear that uploading the class Ones would cause tyranny.

A cactolith is a quasihorizontal chonolith composed of anastomosing ductoliths whose distal ends curl like a harpolith, thin like a sphenolith, or bulge discordantly like an akmolith or ethmolith.

Originally I was going to have different tiers of artificial intelligence, but now I'm thinking of just having one. Or, just two, civilian androids, and war machines.

Civilization Name: Paena National Order
Civilization Age: 563,278

Government Type: Nationalized Military Honors System / National Knighthood
Government Information: The central government is made up of the Paena National Authority, which is composed of five highly honored members of society referred to as Palatial Officers. Each Palatial Officer represents a "Temple", which a broad collectives of social groups, divided respectively into the Temple Ordinal, Temple Cardinal, Temple Principal, Temple Regnant and Temple Prevalent. Within these temples are specific social groups labeled generally as Priests, Scribes, Officers, Growers and Builders. Each temple has unique social groups, but contain all varieties of groups. These groups are called Temple Circuits and take on specialities, for example, one Grower Circuit in Temple Prevalent is the Grower Circuit of Corn & Maize, where another Grower Circuit in Temple Ordinal is the Grower Circuit of Wheat & Barley.

Within these circuits and temples, there is a common ranking system of merit. The lowest rank being an Octagona and the highest being the Palatial Officer. Citizens are promoted on the basis of observed merit and gain authority in a fashion much like that of a military order.

There are also a separate order of roaming judges, who are responsible for adjudicating matters of honor and are often instrumental in the promotion of persons. They operate out what is called the Temple Magistracy.
Government Status: Currently, the five members of the National Authority are Palatial Officers Gnol Pan, Knad Rit, Frel Suw, Pros Mol and Khas Kon.
Population: 1 Billion persons, roughly 200 million in each temple.

Home World/Capitol: Rubion System, Planet of Rift, the National Authority operates in orbit.
Capital Status: The entire eastern hemisphere has been consumed by what the Science Academy has termed smoke-rot, more specifically, the area has suffered tremendous ecological abuse at the hands of previous rulers, leaving the eastern hemisphere an industrial waste land. The Western Hemisphere has been rescued from extreme salinization at great expense to the National Authority and currently provides much of the national foodstuffs. The capital ship itself is in excellent operation and orbits the planet along with majority of the Order's population.
Notable locations and such: On the planet surface, the City of Palaces, which once served as the Order's capital, but was abandoned due to the need to eliminate the carbon footprint of the city. The marble palaces that once held the leaders of the order now lay dormant, but beautiful on the coast of the continent of Endeavor.
Founding Species: The now disbanded Temple Paramount was once an ethnically pure temple composed entirely of the Dryad Species.
Other Species: Nymphs, Naiades, Nereides and Oceanides. An additional race that is not part of the Order, but inhabits that wasted part of the planet are the Amphitryon Mutants, commonly referred to as Gorgons.

=========================================================
Society and Cultural information: The culture is very diverse, especially since five races make up the order. Though they may be similar biologically, their cultural backgrounds are diverse enough to justify the general and unenforced segregation of races to respective temples. Ultimately, this ability to exist separately has allowed the society itself to remain singularly solid, with the ability to practice ones cultural heritage at home making it easier to work in public under the highly regimented order.
Society Status Social status is directly reflected by one's rank, both of are closely linked to the honor of an individual. Honor consists of the virtues of heaven, which are Industriousness, Reverence, Stature (Leadership), Service and Wisdom. There is no discrimination amongst any of the four sexes, though biological definitions incline certain sexes to serve in different arenas.
Languages The official language is Classical Atlasic, though there are dialectical deviations amongst the temples.
Economy: Due to the height of the system's ecological destruction the economy is largely public and can only be fairly given a 4.
Industry: Farming, Ecological Reclamation, Research and Carbon Nano Tubes.
Production/Construction: Very few things of a large scale are actually built. The Order depends on relics of the old industrial regime, repairing the floating cities in the sky making up the only need for construction.

Soopah Powah: Environmentalism. They have devoted the collective knowledge of generations to repairing broken worlds in an effort to curb the domino-effect that pollution has. If it could be called one, they have a cultural reliance on honor and truth, making them gullible, but also deeply trustworthy.

Specialties/Advanced Sciences: Carbon Composites & Ecological Reclamation
Strengths: Building things from nothing via carbon reprocessing. Returning environments to there natural state.
Weaknesses: Cultural inability to lie, few developments in armaments.
=========================================================
Map Claim Size: 1
Grid Coordinates: (See the star map, these are the coordinates on the galaxy grid of each square of turf you own. Can only claim the number of squares specified in claim size. It may be possible to share spaces, but you must consult the ones you intend to share with first for their permission. Also, don't piss off the map maker.)
Map Claim Color: White / Light Grey

Holdings/Territory: The Rubion System.

Colonization/expansion: Most colonization occurs on devastated planets, which involves ecological restoration and the repair of per-existing infrastructure. It is sometimes required to build further off-planet facilities, which basically consists of creating new carbon platforms and pressurizing them.
=========================================================
Foreign policy: Many other nations that practice certain environmentally damaging practices, especially warp capable ships that tear subspace (if you don't mind me using a Star Trek reference), are seen as complete idiots and are treated as such.
Diplomacy: Maybe later...

Technological Age: A post-environmental collapse FT nation.
FTL Capabilities: None, FTL is theorized to damage subspace and is therefore rejected. However naturally occurring or home-grown subspace portals may be a future option.
Inter Planetary Travel It exists, but is highly expensive and therefore limited. It works mostly off of a gravity slingshot concept, which would also theoretically be the method of interstellar travel, though on stellar gravity instead of planetary. =========================================================
Military Information: The military has two purposes. The first is to maintain discipline and decorum amongst the officer circuits, which are generally accepted as the ruling circuits within their respective temples. The second purpose is to protect ecology teams from the savage Amphitryon Mutants, sometimes hunting and eliminating especially hostile packs of the savages.
Doctrine: The honorary Lord Master of the Order (or Commander and Chief) of all military circuits is the Lord Knight Prel Hul, who is a retired palatial officer. He is technically the commanding officer, but most military operations take place on a Temple or circuit level, rather than mass-troop movements by the order itself. Lord Knight Hul is known for a deep seated hate of the Amphitryon Mutants, who he believes are responsible for the abuse of Planet Rift and as such, many campaigns are launched against the mutants by the Order.

Officially speaking there is no distinction made between a Navy Officer and an Army Officer, though they are often separated by specialized circuits. They wear the same uniforms, are promoted to the same positions and generally serve under the same officers.

Army: The Army is composed of the various Officer Circuits of the various Temples, most of which operate independently and pursue various missions as needed by the Temple or requested by the Office of the Lord Master.
Their main weapon is a neural-shock rifle which induces temporary unconsciousness and can, in higher power level, completely nullify the neural impulses in a target's brain, rendering them brain dead. However, standard issue sidearms do not have the capability to discharge a lethal bio-electric impulse.
In hand-to-hand combat, what is best described as a quadruple bladed sword is preferred. The basic design being two doubled edged swords joined together at the center lengthwise of the blade at a perpendicular angle. This of course means that hand-to-hand combat is much more club like in practice than traditional fencing or sword-fighting, due to the inability to stab or run through one's opponent.
Armor is divided into two categories that are normally used on a circuit-by-circuit basis. There are broad plates of carbon, which are extremely durable and far more traditional in their appearance. And there are carbon-fiber uniforms, which are equally durable, easier to move in, but much less traditional. Since the only enemy of the Order is extremely savage, either mode of protection is acceptable and effective. Uniforms are grey with brass insignias, where plate-armor is also gray, with inlaid brass insignias.

Navy: The navy mostly consists of drop and troop ships, mainly being used for the transport of Army Officers to the surface of Planet Rift or adjacent planets. Their uniforms and weapons are the same, though some ships are outfitted with ballistic missiles, though these are never used due to their negative impact on the environment.

Strengths: Overall a very versatile military accustomed to hunting, tracking and ambush. They have unique weaponry that allows them to attain victory without needless loss of life or harm to the environment.
Weaknesses: While versatile, the Officer Circuits have had no cause to engage in contemporary combat in space, leaving them inexperienced and their homes extremely vulnerable.

I'm rather curious to hear what you all think of the Order/Temple/Circuit System, I thought it sounded rather elegant personally.
