IC: Important Info

Fans. Football hooliganism is a real problem in SJG. With riots recently reported in the matches against Paradystopia, the SJGNFA is trying to find a way to protect guest fans. Also, fans will treat the fans of the following nations heatedly, some for having a rivalry like SJG VS Paradystopia, Estope, Felix, Sangti, New Lonopolian Empire, Gregisgodistan and New Wolfopolis. However Security topic is seriuously for the safety of visiting fans.

Weather: SJG has in some places of his territory a tropical climate, like Vladivostok-Alianza or San Salvador, but a freezing climate under 0, prevails in Piedra Labrada and El Roblar.

Transportation: Commercial or leasure flights leave for SJG, making a stopover at Evangelical Islands of Altai or Estope (Esportiva) through National Airlines San Jose Guayabal. Landing at airports located near the stadiums (20-30 kms) Buses will leave fans in hotels that they selected

Accommodation. Hotels are available in all venues ranging from G$15-G$3000 GuAlSas (NS$ 45 to 9000), one can book reservations in a hotel of his choice. The visiting team will be accommodated free of charge in the hotels they choose, with expenses paid by the SJGNFA.

My opponent, if they RP first, may do the following:

Choose my goalscorers Y
Godmod scoring events Y
RP injuries to my players N
Godmod injuries to my players N
Hand out yellow cards to my players Y (no more than 3 as total)

Let's go SJG

RP Information
The Southwick association football team plays a slightly unique 4-4-2 formation that is known to Southwick fans as the Cheveron formation. The basis of the formation is a 4-4-2 with two strikes up front, two wingers, two holding midfielders, and four backs. However, the fullbacks play more as wingbacks so that they sometimes pass the wingers, making a sort of V formation with the winger and the forward on their side. This formation was pioneered by Elias Watts, the current Southwick manager, and requires players to be in great physical shape and to understand the game very well, as players sometimes have to play different roles and positions. In this way, it is similar to Total Football.

Southwick players pride themselves on playing hard and aggressively, but players do not go out of their way to be "dirty". Defenders are susceptible to being booked for hard tackles, as fouls are rarely called in youth leagues in Southwick, so players grow up learning tackles that may be illegal. Players also pride themselves on toughness and as such, do not like to be taken out of the game, even if injured. This sometimes leaves the manager in a difficult spot and leads to rows inside the club.

Danilo Locklear will take penalty kicks for Southwick. Keven Shapiro and Locklear will take free kicks. Shapiro is able to put massive amounts of spin on the ball and he is definitely a threat to score from set pieces. Steve Groves and Lucius Mesa will take the corner kicks on their respective sides. Southwick does not score much off of corner kicks, because they do not put many men in the box, instead preferring to stay back to avoid the counterattack. However, at 6'5", Locklear is a huge target and if picked out, can score. Shapiro will captain the side.

The Federation of Association Football presents...

The Legalese National Team Roster
for
Qualifying for World Cup LXVI

The Players
Keepers:
1 – Tarquin Waldrop, 27, Myre Town
22 - Noah Simpkin, 23, Rhinos
23 - Aaron Palmer, 22, Francis City

Defense:
2 – Benson Black, 25, The Knights of Tiberia
3 - Liam Todd, 34, Argyle Warriors
4 – Kenny Stroud, 26, International of Tyrellia
5 - Dwight Marcus, 28, Rhinos

19 – Cordell Wyman, 24, Francis City
20 - Irwin Boyd, 23, LC Capitals
21 - Jeff Donaldson, 20, Turoki Tide (Vilitian Stellar)
Donaldson prepares to move to his new club, with
Myre Town having agreed to a transfer to Vilitian
League side Turoki Tide. The young wing-back was
the only key performer in Myre's opening season in
the M-League East, scoring six goals from the back,
and providing a variety of key stops in gameplay. The
only thing missing from his pedigree now is international
experience.

Midfield:
6 – Jack Wayne, 32, Brecorn City

7 - Cyrus Damhan, 25, International of Tyrellia.
Cyrus Damhan’s place on this team makes him
the first prominent “Islander” (that is, someone
born on the Karin Isles) to assume a role with the
National Team. Born in Erodoeth, a small, rural,
and very poor community near Wasola, Cyrus’s
talent went largely unnoticed, having been stuck
on a number of poor teams with untalented/unfocused
players. He would continue playing recreationally
until the age of 19, when he was spotted by a talent
scout for International - who, incidentally, had been
planning to sign the player assigned to mark Cyrus
on defence. The quiet, hard-working son of a
teamster and a server quickly made a mark, being
pushed to first-team and first-eleven duty right
off the bat, and is hungry for more.

8 - Slade Brahm, 25, Draig Goch FC

14 - Sam Washington, 32, Bob's Towing
The former captain had fallen out of the main side,
mostly due to the efforts of Damhan, however a
change in formation has led to his return to the XI.
Sam says he still has it, and was the force
behind Bob’s Towing’s National Championship, but
we shall find out if he can work with the player who
pushed him out of the lineup initially.

15 - Monte Kelshimer, 33, Tiberian City
16 – Ty Henderson, 29, Tiberian City
17 – Blake Carter, 21, Francis City
18 – Sherwood Hendry, 28, Ellentown Exempts

Forwards/Strikers:
11 - Xavier Boyle, 26, Mliona-Lpaka (Vilitian Stellar Division)
Xavier, who solidified his spot as the starter during
a successful World Cup 65 campaign, was a notable
missing player among the stars of the new Legalese
National Championships, instead following in the
footsteps of countrymen Kelvin Bassford, and
playing abroad. Boyle comes into qualifying after a
season with Kiiarana, his third club in three years, and was
hopefully renting, as he accepted a transfer to
Milona-Lpaka for the upcoming season.

9 - Lane Wilson, 27, LC Capitals
Wilson also earned his way into the XI two years
ago, joining in the three-pronged attack that led
the NT through qualifying. The tweaked lineup still
left a space for him, making the cut from three
starting forwards to two; so far, the move is paying off,
with Wilson’s goal in the Grand Final securing the
Jeremy Jaffacake Jamboree for the NT.

10 - Jimmy Jay, 32, Bob's Towing
Once the star, then the sub, then hero again, then zero.
Jimmy Jay has seen the ups and downs of the playing
career. Twelve years ago, he was anticipated as part of
the XI that helped Legalese qualify in shocking fashion,
only to see his position disappear, giving way to his club
teammate. By the next cycle, he was back in the eleven,
and after Bassford’s astounding fall from grace, had been
the reliable workhorse for the team, his goal tally just
behind Boyle’s during the previous cycle. However, recent
changes mean that he’ll need to get used to life on the
bench, and see if he can work that magic as a super sub.

12 - Blake Moor, 22, LC Capitals
13 - Ken Heath, Jr., 20, Knights of Tiberia

The Staff
Manager: Stan Thate, 40 -
Stan begins his second full campaign as NT manager,
having served initially as assistant manager during the
WC 63 qualifying attempt, and as interim manager
during the historic 55th Cup of Harmony run, which
solidified his position. A former national team goalkeeper,
Thate has brought a different style to the team, backing a
little off the all-out attack, but emphasizing possession and
creating opportunities.

Assistant Manager: Rufus Teague, 46
Rufus, from Tyrellia, is a bit of an oddity. While born and
raised in the Karins, Teague spent his post-secondary days
on the mainland, studying at Coastal University in Sagdineo,
where he studied economics and statistics; after a five-year
break to teach as part of the Federal Service program, he
returned to Coastal part-time for his MBA, achieved four years
later. His teaching in the Sagdineo Public Schools landed him at
Bateman High, where he was recruited to coach the soccer team,
in addition to covering business and finance in the classroom.
It was here that he was discovered, tapped by Stan Thate to
join the national team staff.

Other Persons of Note:
Federation Executive Director: Robert Percival.
Percival, in his thirties, started out as an assistant to the
former President, Bernie Wickerstaff. Along the way, he
found himself taking on more and more responsibility, handling
staff management, media relations, and even the occasional
WCC appearance, leading to his promotion two years ago, occurring
just weeks before Wickerstaff was removed as the Federation President,
a position his ousters have not formally filled. As such, Percival will act
in the role as the visual head of the Federation, though for most, the
direction of the National Team is sparked by...

Director of Football: Gabe Cushing.
Cushing, nearing his sixtieth birthday, was - until World Cup 65 -
the only Legalite manager to earn a qualification spot, having done so
twice. After retiring and largely disappearing for four years, he was
brought back by the Executive Committee to make sweeping changes
in the NT program, following the dismissal of Federation President
Bernie Wickerstaff. For his first run in the position, the National Team
romped through a qualification group that was great on history,
but weak on follow-through, returning to the World Cup with nary a
change made between cycles. Naturally, Gabe is getting all the
credit, like it or not.

The Eleven (subject to change):
Image

Sites and Locations:
While past qualifying sessions have been based primarily at the Federation’s
partially-owned National Stadium in Legalese City - with select matches
moved around the nation - the shorter qualifying session with only five home
matches on tap has prompted the Federation to adopt a traveling-circus format
for this upcoming attempt to qualify. As such, each of the following five stadia
will each host one of the five qualifying matches held on Legalite soil,
with specific siting choices TBD:

Coastal Pitch - Sagdineo
Located on the southern shores of Lake Bekk, Coastal Pitch is the home of
National League side Coastal United, an entity formed out of the partnership
between Coastal University, and former semipro side Bekknia Athletic. The
most notable feature is the lower bowl, which holds two-thirds of the
stadium’s 67,982 seats, making it the largest lower level in Legalese; as well
as an upper deck oriented on the eastern and southern sides of the stadium,
giving those at the very top a view of the mighty Bekk.

City Stadium - Francis City
Located in Legalese's most populous city, City Stadium was built by the City
to lure the National Team back to their historic home, and also serves as the
shared ground of city-based clubs Francis City and Argyle Warriors of the
second-division M-League. It seats 52,132, using a rectangular style that
contains no corner seating, but keeps the fans close by stacking the three
tiers of seats at a sharp angle. Upon revealing the design, the architect
commented that it "will provide the proper acoustics to make the stadium feel
like there's 100,000 cheering on the home team".

The Coliseum - Tyrellia
Ah, the Karin Islands, where everyone lives a simpler life, and pretends to
descend from the Casarans…
The Coliseum, along with International Park, serves as one of two sites on the
Karin Islands with the capacity to host a national team match, and is the only
time one can see supporters of the Tyrellian-based National League sides -
International and Titans, the latter calling The Coliseum home - co-exist in the
same arena peacefully. The width of the pitch here hews to the international
maximum, while the length is closer to the minimum, a symptom of the stadium’s
shape, which is elliptical, but about as close to a circle as can be managed.
The three tiers of seating are stacked high, creating a mix between bright heat
and odd shadows. 74,000 is the seating capacity.

The Park of the Phoenix - Tiberia
Located in the north, just miles from the Starblaydi border, The Park of the Phoenix
(aka. Phoenix Park) is one of the newest stadia in Legalese, having been opened to
host the 52nd Baptism of Fire Championship Match, and now serving as the home
ground for National Leaguers Tiberian City FC. The stadium features a retractable
roof, which folds into a configuration meant to resemble flames rising from the arena,
as well as a movable natural grass pitch, permitting games to be played indoors on a
top-condition field, yet still provide the ability for the grass to grow and remain healthy
even when the stadium needs to be used for other purposes. The Park of the Phoenix
seats 63,239, and will host two of the home qualifying matches.

Jordan National Stadium - Legalese City
It has seen much: the rise of the National Team, the lull and stagnancy, and now the
resurgence. Located in the nation's capital, Jordan National Stadium generally serves
as the primary stadium for the Federation's national team, as well as the home pitch
for National League side LC Capitals. It is an all-seater, with a capacity of 83,068 through
the three tiers of seating, as well as a bank of 20 private boxes, and is known to rattle
and sway with the noise and stomping of the crowd.

Notes:
-While the starters are listed above, any and all substitutions
are perfectly acceptable with a complementary player on the
roster, especially should it work better for your RP.
-Regarding style modifiers: the Legalese NT shall play
with a near-Takilan +4.
-As for RP permissions: should my opponent RP first, I grant
them the exact same permissions for which they grant their
opponents in their accompanying roster post for this competition,
though ask that I be notified and consulted if you wish to cause
the death and/or career-ending injury to any Legalite mentioned
in this roster post. If you have not posted a roster for this
competition, then you shall not be permitted a damn thing.[/box]

TSE’s World Cup 66 team

Back in WC64, when this team was built, these guys and girls selflessly applied only with their initials. They claimed that they were doing it for the glory of God first and national pride second, without care to personal gain. These players are also singers, which they believe helps them be in sync and builds teamwork. The players are divided into tiers by age, with Tier 1 getting more play time than Tier 2, Tiers 3/4 getting less than that. This roster was reformed after a pretty bad WC66, and after taking a leave of absence, played a tune-up tournament and now takes center stage once again, with a bunch of brand new players, and some old ones fired.
Formation: 3-3-4

Sopranos (Offensive)

The sopranos are physically smaller, but they are fast and agile. They can take the ball and place it just where they want to.

Tier 1: LC, EW, KB
Tier 2: BS, SY, GSj
Tier 3: EM, JB

Baritones (Midfield)

The men on the team are a wide range of sizes and have been put at midfield for such.

Tier 1: TO
Tier 2: GSo
Tier 3: LS, DH, EC
Tier 4: AK

Altos (Defensive)

The altos are bigger and stronger. They have a greater ability to block shots and battle for the ball. These are the most “harmonious” group; they are best friends and will back each other up in any kind of fight on the field.

Tier 1: CH, AS
Tier 2: BH, DE, CR
Tier 3: TA, MG, RD

Head Coach: LK who has almost 30 years of choir and soccer experience.
Assistant Coach: JS who has a lot of administrative experience and works well with LK
Goalies: Odd MD's have EC in the box, even MD's have AS at goalie.

If you’d like, you can have these players sing the national anthem for 1 or both teams. If there is one thing they respect more than each other, it is music. They will honor any national anthem.

NORTHERN SUNRISE ISLANDS WORLD CUP 66 ROSTER
THE VAPOREONS

GOALKEEPERS
#01 - Trent MILLARD (San Jose Sharks - Northern Sunrise Islands)
Millard was a rookie with some prospect when the first Universitarian League rolled around. Obviously, he wasn't taken much seriously, thus making him stay in Northern Sunrise Islands lines, which placed him as a Goalkeeper for the Seaside Wartortles. The Wartortles then noticed they couldn't make much use of the player, so they kept him playing on other teams around the world. Monty Python, Peace of Saint Anne and Jacob, Canondale Bombers, Hermann Aichinger and finally a run with Afonse Batallion would let him return to the Sunrisian Lands. He stuck with the Batallion, thanks to his great skills as a goalie finally rising from him, which made San Jose Sharks take him under their team. And now he's in the national team.

#12 - Maurício ROSÁRIO (Fluminense - Barra e Janeiro)
Rosário spent little time with the team that drafted him back in the Universitarian League, as San Jose Sharks was still in its way to become a good team in NSI, thus making him go around Unzucneru Association. While he wasn't a hit at some teams, he eventually found fortune when Barra e Janeiro's Fluminense gave him a call. He became a hit, almost becoming a Barrian to represent the country at a Cuppet or something like that. However, Bourbon remembered of him and brought the Aranha Negra for the Vaporeons.

#32 - Mellody SIOUX (Ponyville United - Equestrian States)
A Nekonian, Mellody Sioux played for Kitsunia-Deesse during the years that nekonians were not allowed at the Sunrisian Football Leagues. Then, Ponyville United invited her in and now there she is, playing for a big country and for a club of the century no less. Funny how life turns stuff around, huh?

SIDEBACKS
#02 - Justin REDWING (Litala '93 - Mytannar) [CAPTAIN]
A survivor of the Lavonian Civil War, Redwing finally found his way in success as he caught the eyes of Litala '93 for Mytannar. Still a memorable and always interesting piece of the Sunrisian squad, Redwing continues to be the stronghold of emotions that somehow makes great crosses every now and then.

#05 - Anthony HAWK (Minigoleada - Dainer)
A national champion, a loyal player and also the skateboarder of the team. Probably one of the best right backs that Sunrisian Football has ever seen and with all his talent, an interesting piece for the Vaporeons. Also, with Lyn-Zee Hawk signing up for Mizuyuki, he is not the sole Hawk that flies in the Multiverse's football scene.

#13 - Andressa DE SOUZA (Lynder Frosslasses - Northern Sunrise Islands)
The always hotheaded but still pretty much of a perfectionist Andressa de Souza didn't have the best season of her career. Without Larissa as a challenger, she couldn't help but to feel uninspired. Imagine how happy she became after finding out that, the route to the Inexplicable Syndicate would make her old friend return for some matches?

#14 - Larissa SOUZA (Sporting Iturributa - Iturributa)
Of the Souza "couple" (sounds weird, but that's the best way to describe it), Larissa is currently the luckier one. Somehow, she found a way to enter at Sporting Iturributa. Obviously, this meant a while without Andressa, but she managed to hold it well enough. If anything, Larissa expects to show top football together with Andressa as they both enter the Qualifiers.

CENTERBACKS
#03 - Netto HIKARI (Augusta - Darmen)
He was a loan coin back when he was in NSI, but no team ever noticed that he was a great player. Augusta did, and brought him with them for some football. As you might have guessed, he is another uprising player with enough skill for the Vaporeons.

#04 - Yolanda MCFLEMMING (Acropolis - Dainer)
A strong and experienced player in the defense, McFlemming was originally born in New Capitalia, but her old country was added to the Sunrisian Territories, thus making her a Sunrisian. She's debuting at any national team, either from New Capitalia or from Northern Sunrise Islands.

#15 - Pippi MANGALONGA (Northern Stars - Felix)
The younger sister of Iau, Pippi is probably one of the most hidden talent of Northern Sunrise Islands to be featured in the roster. Sent by her original club, the Matthew City Senators to the Northern Stars, a team that works as a farm team in Felix, the younger Mangalonga has
also four brothers and seven sisters that are still developing to possibly play soccer. Could the Mangalongas become a family enshrined in the Sunrisian Football?

#16 - Natsu HANEKAWA (Blue Bay AFC - Kythenna)
At Blue Bay AFC, Hanekawa isn't really the worst player around. Probably the second player ever of the Sunrisian team to play without boundries to her position, with Starfox being the first.

MIDFIELDERS
#06 - Tom "Starfox" MCCLOUD (Makosile United - Vilita)
Son of two of the most skillful officials at Sunrisian Air Force, the older McCloud of the recent generation was strongly considered after seeing how good this kid is as an all-around player. Also, playing in Vilita gets you this far in Sunrisian National Football.

#07 - Iau MANGALONGA (Jenipapa - Dainer)
The Princess of the midfield, this white haired nekonian has become the blue chip of the team, playing inside Dainer, Mangalonga has not disappointed her colleagues in the Daineri team, winning a title on her debut at the league. While her past may be quite dark for
commoners, the future shines in the eyes of this young girl.

#08 - Guillermo DI LUCA (Montfort Wanderers - Licentiapacisterra)
A solid player, this young blond hasn't disappointed in the cyan-and-gold land, showing decent reason of why he is still around in the Marills' squad. Acts as the vice-captain.

#10 - Namine NAGATOMO (Barbury Town - Apox)
The dazzler, the one that started playing street football before stepping up to the grass pitch. Nagatomo is technically experienced, having spent her teenager years in the concrete pitches of Mardi as a street footballer who would later earn a lot with that image. Then, out of her upcoming 19th anniversary, she would make the trip to one of NSI's biggest rivals, Apox, only to become a professional player and have enough money to help her family around. Inspiring and deserving of number 10 indeed.

#17 - Bridgitte LAVAL (La Naranja - Dandillis)
"Hanging around the corner" region-wise and well placed in the bench, Bridgitte has some history in international football that can't be left without notice. A more experienced player, continues with the Vaporeons for the next tournaments.

#18 - Brendan CRAWFORD (Augusta - Darmen)
The Hot Shot in Flock Nation, would later move to Darmen, but will never ever be forgotten by his fans at AZ Avalar and Saint Magdalene United for all his hard work. He has been with the Vaporeons for quite sometime, so no surprises here.

#19 - Harley "Quinn" SMITH (Feardillis' Wanderers - Farfadillis)
Harley has went through almost everything a human could even go through, with only around twenty years old! Kinda bizarre, but you have to admit that this madgirl is something totally different from what NSI tends to offer in their national team. Not even the best tactician can put her locked, so good luck for the opponents with her.

#20 - DUDA (Augusta - Darmen)
Techinically an experienced player, but new to the Marills. He tend to play the tutor role for Crawford and Hikari, who play with him at Darmen, but Marcos Eduardo knows what he's talking off. Considerably, a legend at Andarahy, he wants to show what he's capable off in the sets of the World. And Augusta is joyfully helping him do so.

FORWARDS
#09 - Christie TRAVIS (Matthew City Rangers - Northern Sunrise Islands)
Born in Osarius, easilly taken as another child of the land in Matthew City, Ms. Travis has one of the best shooting ranges of the forwards of the national team and is rising consistantly with the Vaporeons. The brunette has also been given, finally, the captain position at the Rangers and could easilly challenge Redwing for the position.

#11 - Mateus CARVALHO (Dwile Warriors - Apox)
Carvalho is the valuable guy, that's for sure. After being released out of Boring Paradise, Dwile Warriors jumped straight away and got him. Now, before finally facing his young friend, Namine Nagatomo, at Apox; Carvalho has the chance of learning more about his teammate and maybe even help the Vaporeons enter the World Cup.

#21 - Melina PATIY (Isper - Dainer)
Patiy was one of the first players to ever leave the (back then) Protectorate of Northern Sunrice for the outside world, in this case, the nation of Dainer. While not really the greatest success inside the dragon-born country, she is a solid player, thus becoming a good reserve for the team.

#22 - Louise MONTBLANC (Altomare - Felix)
A graduate from Project +90, Montblanc enters the national team as a blue chipper that could become another diamond if well worked. She's now with Altomare from Felix and could have a hard time playing against her comrades from Northern Stars.

COACH
Lynette Bourbon (Matthew City Rangers - Northern Sunrise Islands) [+1,5]
The coach of the team, considered a smart woman for getting NSI at a better place than what was expected for them all along. While she doesn't know whether the future is shining for her or not, Bourbon is slowly maturing to be a good coach and could raise some eyebrows in the next tournaments.

STADIUM
Image
There is something about the Union Stadium that makes everything special for any Sunrisian. It's one of the most cherished stadiums in Northern Sunrise Islands and not without reason. This 80,136 seater isn't just amazing, it's THE stadium for Sunrisians. And if you want to beat NSI, you'll have to deal with the Union Stadium first.

RP PERMISSIONS:
Choose my goalscorers: Y
Godmod scoring events: Y
RP injuries to my players: Only if it doesn't injure them for after the tournaments. I kinda stick with the national team for a good while as each cycle counts as an year in NSI and I don't want to run out of references for players, so...

Hand out yellow cards to my players: Y
Hand out red cards to my players: Only with TG first

Licentian National Football Team

After large scale retirements which forced Joachim Schwartz’s hand in recruiting the next generation of Licentian stars, the Cyan-and-Gold travelled the short distance to the “Glorious” Commune, and took the Campionato Esportiva in extra time against Sangti. Now, Joachim Schwartz has the luxury of naming an unchanged twenty-three going on the road to the Inevitable Syndicate and Audioslavia, and he will be relying on veterans like Donaldson, Parkinson and Keir to lead from the front for a nation that is now expecting not only qualification, but moving on to the knockout rounds.

Head Coach- Joachim Schwartz (Polar Islandstates):
Joachim Schwartz, now in his fifth year and third World Cup in charge of the Licentian Isles, is looking as good as ever on the sidelines, and he is a very popular man at the moment. He has returned the Cyan-and-Gold to their rightful position as the official best footballing side in Esportiva (they’ve been the unofficial best for a long time) and he has lifted a team that lost nearly half of their players after the last World Cup to their first trophy in almost a decade. It is likely that he’ll be in this job for a long time to come, if he keeps his run going.

Goalkeepers:

1 - Shay Jamieson - 23 years - Carrington United
12 - Russell Miller - 22 years - Treason (NSB)
13 - Nathan Hunter - 21 years - Abingdon Celtic

With Shay Jamieson in between the sticks, and two fantastic back-ups, the Licentian goalkeeping squad is in its best health since the days of the Gardiner-Stewarts, almost a decade ago. Russell Miller’s move abroad will open up a new avenue for him to impress, while Nathan Hunter still has trouble emulating the last Nathan to play in net for Celtic.

Full Backs:

2 – Toby Bishop – 29 years – Carrington United
3 – Kevin Boyle – 30 years – Old Corinthians
14 - Ajay Walker - 23 years - Montfort Wanderers

Kevin Boyle has announced that this will be his last tournament for the Cyan-and-Gold, and he will most likely run out his time at left back fairly quietly, without praise, as he has for the last few years. Toby Bishop is going to be attempting to coach Ajay Walker into a replacement for Boyle, while still keeping hold of his own spot in the squad.

Centre Backs:

4 – Sam Hill – 25 years - Surtsey Island Gulls (PIS)
5 – Dennis Munro – 24 years - Gaelic Club
15 - Arron Stewart - 22 years - Sabrefell Athletic (NSB)
16 - Grant Ferguson - 24 years - SC Montfort

Hill and Munro are looking like the best centre back pairing on the Isles for quite a while, with Munro’s size, power and heading ability contrasting with Hill’s ball-winning and passing skills very nicely. Grant Ferguson has been jumped in the queue on the bench by Arron Stewart, whose move to New Sideburn meant his credentials rose a little.

Holding Midfielders:

8 – Nate Parkinson – 31 years - Arka Snezhnaya (MYT)
17 – Grant Torin - 24 years - AFC Farnworth

Nate Parkinson, despite picking up an injury since the end of the Mytanar season and the start of qualifying while playing a five-a-side game in Abingdon, will recover in time for the first game of qualifying. Grant Torin, slightly disappointed at the fact he won’t get his chance yet, may get a start come the end of the World Cup, especially if Parkinson’s injury flares up again.

Centre Midfielders:

6 – Ruaraidh Donaldson – 31 years - Abingdon Celtic - C
10 – Josh Brown - 25 years - Red Star Severny (PIS)
18 - Joey Thompson - 21 years - Egloskerry (APX)
19 – Magnus Graham - 23 years - Abingdon Celtic

Despite the ongoing debates about how to pronounce his name (he still isn’t a lion, as most seem to think), Ruariadh Donaldson retains the captaincy for this World Cup after he scored the winning goal in the CE Final against Sangti. The place alongside him is likely to rotate between Brown, Thompson and Graham, though Brown will play most often

Wingers:

7 – Lewis Naylor – 31 years - Colesham Athletic
11 – Aran Miller – 18 years - Abingdon Celtic
20 - Jared Anderson - 28 years - Carrington United
21 - James Watt - 21 years - Brinemouth (NSB)

Aran Miller has claimed his first league title after a recent move to Abingdon Celtic, and that only adds to the growing following of this teenager, who will play alongside a soon-to-retire Lewis Naylor once again. Jared Anderson and James Watt will be looking to impress Schwartz enough to earn that place once Naylor goes.

Centre Forwards:

9 - Alexander Keir - 30 years - FC Endeavour (APX)
22 - Roddy Dickson - 21 years - RSK Longyearbyen Town (PIS)
23 - Fraser Docherty - 20 years - Montfort Wanderers

Alexander Keir, an impressive player in both the ANL and the Campionato, will take on the lone striker role again for this World Cup, and will start every game. Roddy Dickson and Fraser Docherty, both talented young players, will be fighting for the chance to come off the bench and impress; though he’s beginning to tire, the King won’t retire any time soon

Formation – The Pythagorean v2/The Hourglass:
A variant on the Pythagorean system used by Schwartz in the Polar Islandstates, the only real difference is that the Cyan-and-Gold system involves two triangles linked together by the holding midfielders, which looks sort of like an hourglass on paper (hence, the name).

Starting Eleven – 1/3-4-5-2/8/7-6-10-11/9

Kits - Created by Kirola Sports:

Home Stadium:
Luke Thomas I Stadium, Montfort, Montfort Parish
Capacity: 75,000, all seated

LTI Stadium is the home of Licentian sports. Having held the final of the Campionato Esportiva, the entirety of the Campionato di Atletica Esportiva, and the final of the Grand Duke’s Challenge Cup in the past, along with hosting the Licentian national football and lacrosse teams, Montfort Wanderers, and Montfort LC, this all-seater stadium (the only such ground on the Islands) is truly the behemoth of the Islands’ sporting culture. You can expect to see royalty fairly often too, with the Grand Duke, Luke Thomas II, a regular attendee of the games at the stadium named for his father.

Roster

GOALKEEPERS

1 - Adolf Dumitrescu - X Island Marauders (Taeshan) 53 Caps, 27 Years Old
With a somewhat impressive performance in the Copa Rushmori, the only Goalie on the roster with more than 1 cap continues to show why he is in no danger of not being the starter, unless he dies.

23 - Martin Anghelescu - Bayern-Algaer (Taeshan) 1 Cap, 20 Years Old
The future of Antoletian keeping, Martin is a solid third string for now while he waits for his own time to come.

24 - Luca Hagi - Unattached 0 Caps, 17 Years Old
When we said Martin was the future of Antoletian keeping that was before young hotshot Hagi came onto the scene and now has put the backups chances of being that future star in jeopardy.

DEFENDERS
2 - LB, Niculae Ricard - New Capetown Falcons (Taeshan) 58 Caps, 28 Years Old
With a second tournament under is helm the left back spot seems really well in hand. The defense may be the weak point of the Antoletia team, but it's in good hands.

3 - LCB, Sheyenne Augustini - Real Chinchinhua (Taeshan) 35 Caps, 23 Years Old
After a somewhat interesting first tournament in the central defense position Sheyenne has gone from the flames and may be looking for quieter fair in the upcoming qualifiers. Hopefully his youth will not continue to show over his skill.

4- RCB, Alec Raț - Atlantea Hurricanes (Taeshan) 98 Caps, 2 Goals, 26 Years Old
Two caps away from 100, not to bad for the young man from southern Antoletia. Especially with a chance to likely play 5-6 more seasons he could hold the Antoletian record for appearances for a very long time.

7- RB, Mathew Cannibus - Mierton Manatees (Taeshan) 64 Caps 1 Goal, 25 Years Old
The more attacking of the two Fullbacks is the speedy Right footed Mathew Cannibus. With a lot of experience under his belt he could very well be the second best defender of the starters.

12 - DF, Virgil Cobacaru - Real Atlantea (Taeshan) 8 Caps, 20 Years Old
The young defender is a very strong looking center back who many believe is the future of the Antoletian defense.

17 - DF, Percival Devine - Atlantea Hurricanes (Taeshan) 8 Caps, 19 Years Old
The other really young defender is also a hopeful to become a strong defender in the future.

21 - DF, Decebal Funar - Unattached 0 Caps, 16 Years Old
The newest defender on the team is the tall young man from the big city. Decebal is a center back for the future.

MIDFIELDERS

5 - LM, Gheorghe von Leeweonheouck - Ituributa United (Ituributa) 99 Caps, 30 Goals, 24 Years Old
The man from the biggest club of any of the Ants, who will be the next to break 100, and could, like Alec Rat make a push for most caps ever. Gheorghe is a spark plug, and a playmaker. Dangerous from everywhere.

9 - CDM, Cristian Kafka - Blacklake Blues. (Taeshan) 30 Caps, 2 Goals, 25 Years Old
After an impressive performance in his first starting tournament, Kafka is an exciting option in the defensive midfield, and will hopefully hold the back line for a few years to come.

13 - CM, Gabriel Mohammed - Blacklake Blues (Taeshan) 76 Caps, 13 Goals, 26 Years Old
Another player with a potent skill set and a lots of abilities to attack and almost as much of an ability to score and create as to use his skill to take down opponents.

14 - CAM, Filip Constantinescu - Tintown Terrapins (Taeshan) 132 Caps, 70 Goals, 29 Years OldCAPTAIN
The real leader of the team, and the real leader of the midfield is star Filip Constantinescu. Really a striker playing a midfield position he has all the skills of a target man and added to the abilities of the striker works well to create goals for himself mostly.

22 - RM, Hannibal - South Factory (Astograth) 30 Caps, 4 Goals, 22 Years Old
After a nice 6 games with starting opportunities Hannibal looks to continue to own the Right side of midfield and help the Ants win a bunch of games.

6- RM, Sylvestre Rochambeau - X Island Marauders (Taeshan) 0 Caps, 16 Years Old
The midfield is ripe with youngsters and one of the newest and youngest is Rochambeau a small attacking midfielder who might one day be a star.

8 - MF, Remus Robideau - Tintown Terrapins (Taeshan) 2 Caps, 18 Years Old
This young midfielder has a bright future.

16 - MF, Constantine Robideau - X Island Marauders (Taeshan) 2 Caps, 18 Years Old
Ditto.

18 - MF, Awrythr Tudor - Capetown Croc's (Taeshan) 0 Caps, 17 Years Old
A new speedy winger for the team, and one of the newest members is the young man from the south of Antoletia.

20 - MF, Raphael - Moresville FC (Taeshan) 30 Caps, 5 Goals, 21 Years Old
The real spark plug of the bench in the midfield though is Raphael who is known to come in late to create ruckus and help the team capitalize on their offensive skills.

STRIKERS

11 - CF, Hiarchratez - SK Nethers (Taeshan) 84 Caps, 39 Goals, 27 Years Old
The target man helps the smaller player get goals and thats how Hiarchratez and Constantinescu work together. The target man gets the ball and finds the speedy striker for goals, and thats how the Ants attack tends to work.

10 - ST, Anton Gregovich - New Capetown Falcons (Taeshan) 21 Caps, 6 Goals, 23 Years Old
The tall lanky striker Anton is a star in the making and off the bench does quite well. If the Ants ever switch to a two striker attack he would be one of the favorites to be that second striker.

15 - ST, Clyde Dickens - Real Chinchinhua (Taeshan) 7 Caps, 2 Goals, 19 Years Old
Another good future star in young striker Clyde Dickens, who is more known for a Hiarchratez like small forward deal.

19 - ST, Preya Pavelski - Laketown Rangers (Taeshan) 21 Caps, 6 Goals, 26 Years Old
Another good striker is Preya Pavelski but beyond that he really gets pushed out of favor, even though he is the oldest none starter.

The Pony Republic of Equestrian States
National Hoofball Team - World Cup 66 Roster

Introduction
Following the most successful year in Equestrian hoofball history, the Ponies weren't able to live up to their supporters' high expectations. Though the national team won their qualifying group with remarkable ease, they failed to match their World Cup 64 point total in last year's finals, and the Little Ponies also failed miserably in their defense of the Di Bradini Cup title. Yet things are still looking up for the Equestrian States, with numerous players gaining international notoriety at the club level. Though their position might not be ideal, the Ponies are hardly declining in talent or potential heading into the next World Cup.

The World Cup 65 qualifying campaign was one for the ages, with the Equestrian States being drawn into Group 20 alongside Bears Armed and this year's co-hosts from The Inevitable Syndicate. Throughout qualifying it was a three way battle for the top two spots, though the Ponies were almost always in one of those coveted places. But despite their second straight one-loss campaign, the Equestrians found themselves trailing the Bear Belles with two matches left to play and neither team facing any real powers. Just when most supporters believed that the Ponies were heading for another playoffs appearance, a stunning upset of Bears Armed by lowly Brenecia allowed the Equestrians to leapfrog the Bears into first place and the automatic qualifying berth. Brenecia was given another chance for an upset in Canterlot on the final day, but the dominant Ponies crushed their opponent, securing their first qualifying group title and their second appearance in the World Cup finals.

Hopes and expectations were high for the Equestrians in the finals, despite being drawn against two of the World Cup's traditional powers: The Archregimancy and Starblaydia. However, luck was not on the Ponies' side; as they would go on to concede the most goals of any team in the group stage despite finishing the qualifiers with one of the tournament's best goal differentials. In the opener against the monks, the Equestrian States was practically helpless, falling 3-0 in their worst finals defeat to-date. Following a comeback victory over Ossidiacqua, the Equestrians were still in a position to advance if they could upset the Starblaydis. But it was not to be. In yet another defensive collapse, the Ponies' attack was unable to finish a daring win, and the team was eliminated from the World Cup in a narrow 5-4 loss to the "Other" Purple Peril.

This year, things are different for the Ponies and their loyal supporters. From World Cups 59 through 65 the Equestrian States always managed to do better than their seeding predicted, and exceeding expectations became the norm. But for the first time in history, the Equestrians are slated to be the favorites, the best, the top-seeded power. Understandably, this leaves many fans uncomfortable and on edge. Without a doubt, the Ponies will be a target for the lower-ranked teams and even more so given their recent defensive struggles, a major concern for the team. But the players remain confident they will do what they must to reach their third-consecutive World Cup finals, denying that they are complacent or unprepared. Will the Equestrian States prove that its successes in the last two World Cups was not the team's peak? Can the promising graduates of the Little Ponies redeem themselves for their failure in the Di Bradini Cup? Do the Ponies have what it takes to make the successful transition from being a "good team with potential" to a "great team with a future of greatness"?

The national team receives its kits from two different companies, though the design for each is the same. Kits for the humanoid players (see above) are provided by Kirola Sportswear of Audioslavia, while those for equine and other non-humanoid players are provided by Generosity Sporting Equipment. The Equestrian kits were designed to be simple and easy to identify, using the national colors of purple and orange.

Players

Goalkeepers
Image
#1 - GK - High Soarin' (Pegasus - Male) - 32 - Image Cloudsdale Flyers (EQS) - 174 Caps, 2 Assists, 1 Goal
Aside from a couple of injury-induced vacations, High Soarin' has been the Equestrian States' starting goalkeeper since the team made its debut in Baptism of Fire 45. While he's no longer the youngest goalkeeper out there, High Soarin's experience and ability have allowed him to retain the starter's role, though an all-around terrible performance in the World Cup 65 finals has led to his future on the team being questioned by the media. For High Soarin', everything hinges on this World Cup with two much younger and more promising goalkeepers waiting in the wings to take his place if he shows signs of weakness.

Image
#21 - GK - Gentle Breeze (Pegasus - Female) - 22 - Image Mardi Lopunnies (NSI) - 32 Caps, 1 Assist
Two years ago, Gentle Breeze captured the attention of the international community by posting four clean sheets in the knockout rounds of the Di Bradini Cup, helping lead the Little Ponies to their first title. Now graduated from the Equestrian States' U-21s, Gentle Breeze has set her eye on a bigger prize: the starting goalkeeper's spot on the senior squad. Though the youthful pegasus has been on the national team's roster for a few years, she didn't appear ready to take the reins from High Soarin' until the current starter saw 11 goals fly by him in the last World Cup group stage. Signed by Northern Sunrise Islands' Mardi Lopunnies after she won the Di Bradini Cup with the Little Ponies, Gentle Breeze continues to build an impressive resume, and could be among the best keepers in the world, given a few years to develop her already impressive talents.

The following goalkeeper(s) played for the Equestrian States national team during qualifying, but did not make the final 23-player squad.

Image
#20 - GK - Barrel Roll (Earth Pony - Female) - 25 - Image Appleoosa HC (EQS) - 5 Caps
Often looked upon as being the third wheel of a skilled Equestrian goalkeeping duo, Barrel Roll has been with the national team for several years. Though not the big-name star that Gentle Breeze and High Soarin' are in the Equestrian States, the earth pony mare is a capable keeper with a tremendous ability to clear the ball downfield. She probably won't ever be considered the top Equestrian goalkeeper, but few would dare consider her to be outside of the top five. Barrel Roll is generally seen as being more immediately concerned with Appleoosa HC's struggles in the United League than the national team, but is devoted to the Ponies and content to sit back and let others take the glory, offering Head Coach Twilight Striker a reasonable third option should injuries ever plague the national team as they did in the 63rd World Cup.

Defenders
Image
#3 - DF - Flitter (Pegasus - Female) - 26 - Image Ponyville United (EQS) - 127 Caps, 10 Assists, 9 Goals
The sister of midfielder Cloudchaser, Flitter is a talented defender who is seen as the anchor of the Equestrian back line. While not the most consistent player on the team, Flitter's value cannot be understated. Having the ability to act as a defensive midfielder when the squad is on the attack, the pegasus mare provides Head Coach Twilight Striker with a dangerously speedy defender often tasked with intercepting passes between opposing midfielders and forwards.

Image
#8 - DF - Andrea Molovi (Human - Female) - 25 - Image Stalliongrad HC (EQS) - 95 Caps, 2 Assists, 2 Goals
As a starting defender, Andrea Molovi is one of the most overlooked members of the squad. With the eyes of a hawk and the speed of an enraged manticore, Molovi specializes in stealing the ball away from potential attackers and keeping up with the quickest forwards. One of the few humans to play at the highest levels of Equestrian club hoofball, Andrea Molovi is a well-respected player renowned for her surprisingly clean tackles and has one of the lowest yellow card totals of any United League defender. This is even more impressive when you consider the apparent obsession some equine players have with fair play.

Image
#17 - DF - Subtle Trix (Pegasus - Male) - 31 - Image Cloudsdale Flyers (EQS) - 100 Caps, 2 Assists, 1 Goal
A regular on the national team, many of Subtle Trix's first 80 appearances came as a substitute. However, after several strong performances in the World Cup 64 qualifiers, Head Coach Twilight Striker decided to give him a chance and included Subtle Trix in the Equestrian States starting XI for the group stage. Determined to hold his position on the team, Subtle Trix returned last year, playing superb defense throughout the qualifying campaign. But thanks to a series of extremely costly blunders in the World Cup 65 finals, Subtle Trix cannot be considered a lock for the national team should they advance again this year. The pegasai's status as a starter is very much in doubt, and he will have to redeem himself if he wants to book his own ticket to Audioslavia or The Inevitable Syndicate.

Image
#26 - DF - Blackmane (Earth Pony - Male) - 24 - Image Stilwater Saints (NSI) - 46 Caps, 2 Assists, 1 Goal
One of the Equestrian States' numerous young stars, Blackmane is a defender with all the potential to be a great player. But in recent years, Blackmane has failed to live up to high expectations, sometimes being the cause of defensive lapses and being one of the few Equestrian national team players to earn a red card in international play. The charcoal-furred earth pony recently signed an extension with the Stilwater Saints and is one of several Equestrian players to compete in Sunrise League One. Two seasons ago, Blackmane even managed to pull off something few analysts would have thought possible for a defender: appear on the league leaders list for most goals, finishing tied for fifth in Sunrise League One with 38 goals.

Image
#19 - DF - Antonio Randall (Human - Male) - 28 - Image Kaje Football (UGO) - 25 Caps, 2 Assists
After falling short of making the final cut in recent years, Antonio Randall has once more persisted in rejoining the national team for another qualifying campaign. With a spot on the national team for the World Cup group stage being Randall's ultimate objective; he made a transfer to United Gordonopia's Kaje Football in the hope that the bigger-name league would present him with the opportunity to prove his readiness for the national team. Unfortunately, the move hasn't panned out quite as well as he'd wanted it to. But regardless of his lack of success at the club level, Antonio Randall is a competent defender in terms of style and is more than capable of performing at the highest levels when he is playing at his best.

Image
#24 - DF - Brix Hamilton (Human - Female) - 22 - Image Nithgard GU (EAR) - 14 Caps, 2 Assists
The youngest defender on the national team, Brix Hamilton is another promising youth talent signed several years ago by Earent's Nithgard GU. Hamilton is a skillful player who has occasionally dabbled with shifting to a defensive midfielder role, but has thus far opted to remain with the back line where she has been perfecting her ability to cleanly tackle opponents without drawing costly fouls. Few believe Hamilton will make the final cut, but her stellar performance at the Summer Olympics in Orean could give her an edge in Twilight Striker's mind.

Image
#18 - DF - Horus (Unicorn - Female) - 23 - Image Canterlot Royals (EQS) - 10 Caps, 1 Assist
Supporters are already more than familiar with the unicorn defender who was a key piece in the Equestrian U-21 squad which sprinted to the Di Bradini Cup title two years ago and has been a presence on the national team ever since. Horus benefits from the lower expectations most critics have of her, and could be a dark horse to survive the final cut if she can play at a reasonable level during qualifying.

The following defender(s) played for the Equestrian States national team during qualifying, but did not make the final 23-player squad.

Image
#22 - DF - Ironclaw (Griffon - Female) - 29 - Image Everfree Forest HC (EQS) - 51 Caps, 1 Assist
It's relatively rare to see a griffon play hoofball, but Ironclaw has been a regular on the national team ever since the first non-equines began to wear the purple and orange. A physical defender, playing aggressively and not afraid to foul opponents, Ironclaw clearly deviates from the tendency of Equestrian defenders to rely on agility to steal the ball away. Head Coach Twilight Striker has been known to become frustrated with Ironclaw on occasion, but has retained the griffon's services for those matches where the Ponies face more physically-aggressive squads.

Image
#16 - DF - Xena (Zebra - Female) - 27 - Image Crystopolis City (CRY) - 3 Caps
Many of the older players on the Equestrian national team have been on the team ever since they were about 20 years old, but Xena doesn't quite fit into that mold. Formerly of the Whitetail Foresters, Xena's inclusion on the World Cup 65 qualifying roster came as a surprise to many, though few could say so much when she was left off the final 23 player squad. Like many other Equestrian defenders, Xena can double as a midfielder when needed, and is fairly talented considering her background in the Second League. It seems unlikely that Xena will play a prominent role on the team this year, but one can never be sure.

Midfielders
Image
#5 - MF - Starlight Sparkle (Unicorn - Female) - 29 - Image Ponyville United (EQS) - 196 Caps, 92 Assists, 76 Goals - VICE-CAPTAIN
A starter for the national team ever since the first match of Baptism of Fire 45, Starlight Sparkle is one of the team's best players and has proven it time and time again on the pitch. At the club level, Starlight Sparkle has been a vital member of Ponyville United's repeat championship teams and deep runs in UICA competition. Though her best years may be behind her now, Starlight Sparkle is still a leader of the Ponies for assists and goals, providing the Equestrian States with a dangerous offensive weapon that opposing defenses must learn to deal with. Starlight Sparkle is particularly known for her pinpoint passes to set up forwards Fire Dash and Thunderlane for devastating strikes.

Image
#9 - MF - Rainbow Blitz (Pegasus - Male) - 22 - Image Makosile United (VIL) - 75 Caps, 44 Assists, 35 Goals
Former Captain of the U-21 squad, Rainbow Blitz led the Little Ponies to consecutive Di Bradini Cup semifinals appearances during his tenure as the team's star midfielder. However, Rainbow Blitz has also been a crucial member of the national team since he first appeared in the purple and orange in the World Cup 63 qualifiers. Not only does he have the potential to be among the best Equestrian hoofball players of all-time, but perhaps a future contender for the title of World's Best Player. Signed by Makosile United of Vilita at the age of 19, Rainbow Blitz has quickly established himself as one of the top players in the V-League, regularly appearing on the league leaders board for assists and rating. In Rainbow Blitz, the Equestrian States have one of the world's top young athletes and hope for a bright future in the World Cup.

Image
#2 - MF - Cloudchaser (Pegasus - Female) - 26 - Image Ituraitz FC (ASG) - 129 Caps, 57 Assists, 39 Goals
Though not as well-known as Rainbow Blitz or Starlight Sparkle, Cloudchaser is easily one of the top midfielders in the Equestrian States. Cloudchaser has had her fair share of success with the national team, establishing herself as a team leader in assists in recent years. Quick and able to cover ground in a heartbeat, Cloudchaser often acts as a target for Flitter, relaying her sister's clearing passes into her opponent's third of the pitch and making a lightning-quick switch from defending to attacking.

Image
#4 - MF - Apple Jack (Earth Pony - Male) - 27 - Image Mardi Lopunnies (NSI) - 129 Caps, 32 Assists, 14 Goals
Another midfield star for the national team, Apple Jack is a powerful presence on the pitch and one of the largest equine players to compete in the Equestrian Premier League. Unlike other stars for the squad, Apple Jack's talent lies more in the direction of a defensive midfielder rather than an attacker like Starlight Sparkle, Rainbow Blitz, Cloudchaser, or Rapid Dash. With considerable endurance (even by Equestrian standards), Apple Jack can be a threat to any team up through the very last minutes of the match, refusing to give opponents a rest. Apple Jack is a valued member of the team and contributes to the imposing five-member Equestrian midfield.

Image
#11 - MF - Rapid Dash (Pegasus - Female) - 29 - Image Canterlot Royals (EQS) - 184 Caps, 89 Assists, 71 Goals
Rapid Dash began her career with the national team as a striker, but shifted to the midfield when Twilight Striker began to transform the national team's formation from a 3-4-3 to a 3-5-2. Since then, Rapid Dash's scoring numbers have declined, but she remains a threat to opponents on the attack as the national team's all-time assists leader. The sister of team captain Fire Dash, the pegasus has been a regular for the national team since the beginning and her abilities have kept her with the squad over the years.

Image
#25 - MF - Ironhide (Dragon - Male) - 23 - Image Selyne City Athenians (NSI) - 29 Caps, 3 Assists, 5 Goals
Apple Jack might be the largest pony in the Equestrian midfield, but the largest player is easily Ironhide. With a kick that can rival those of top Equestrian forwards, the dragon is a nightmare for opponents to cover. Though not as large as some of his kin, Ironhide's height and weight advantage cannot be understated, helping offset the generally smaller size of most players on the Equestrian national team. When Ironhide left Everfree Forest HC two seasons ago for the Selyne City Athenians, he was just one of many Equestrians venturing to the Sunrise League. However, over the next season he became much more than that, leading the Athenians to a league title and individually leading the league in scoring as well. But Ironhide was not yet finished. Riding the scaled back of the Equestrian dragon, the Selyne City Athenians stormed through every opponent en route to the most shocking Champions' Cup title of all time. Though currently slated to be a back-up, Ironhide will undoubtedly be Twilight Striker's first choice for a midfield substitution.

Image
#34 - MF - Stardust (Pegasus - Female) - 21 - Image Umber Lumber (FAC) - 17 Caps, 4 Assists, 4 Goals
She might be young, but she's still a threat to any team regardless of rank. Stardust excels at sprinting up the field when the opportunity presents itself and keeping her energy up late in the match. A deadly force in the Ponies' counterattacks, Stardust forces opponents to stay on their toes or watch her gallop off to the races. While overshadowed somewhat by Rainbow Blitz, Stardust has the potential to be a great midfielder and is expected to give the more established players on the senior squad a run for their money.

Image
#32 - MF - Krystal (Unicorn - Female) - 21 - Image Crystopolis City (CRY) - 15 Caps, 4 Assists, 4 Goals
Along with Stardust and Rainbow Blitz, Krystal is a member of the midfield trio that helped the Little Ponies reach two consecutive Di Bradini Cup semifinals. Like Stardust, Krystal is quick, but the smaller unicorn is better at controlling the ball than her winged friend. Her size can put her at a disadvantage on headers, but her ability to steal the ball away from opposing midfielders nearly negates the minor disadvantage. At the club level, Krystal has already made a name for herself, playing a central role in Crystopolis City's Globe Cup quarterfinals campaign. A run unprecedented for a club from such a low-ranked association.

Image
#12 - MF - Lightning Bolt (Pegasus - Male) - 24 - Image Canterlot Stars (EQS) - 47 Caps, 6 Assists, 4 Goals
Once hailed as the next great hoofballer from the Equestrian States, Lightning Bolt hasn't quite lived up to expectations. In the last couple years, the pegasus stallion has shown signs of improvement, offering another threat from the bench for Twilight Striker to use later in the match. His numbers might not reflect his value as an attacking midfielder, but Lightning Bolt shouldn't be taken lightly by teams struggling to contain the traditionally high-paced Equestrian attack.

Image
#15 - MF - Elaine Everdeen (Human - Female) - 22 - Image CDSA Decraa (MYT) - 12 Caps, 2 Assists, 2 Goals
The younger sister of veteran forward Katherine Everdeen, Elaine a promising star for the national team. With grace and agility, the younger Everdeen sister can race up and down the pitch at an impressive clip even in a nation of speedy equine midfielders. Though her endurance isn't nearly that of other Equestrian midfielders, Elaine Everdeen shouldn't be underestimated by her opponents. As a substitute, Elaine could be a lethal threat to teams already exhausted by the relentless Equestrian style of play and should be expected to come off the bench in the twilight of qualifying matches either to preserve a lead or give the Ponies another attacker.

The following midfielder(s) played for the Equestrian States national team during qualifying, but did not make the final 23-player squad.

Image
#31 - MF - Candace Rivers (Human - Female) - 24 - Image Umber Lumber (FAC) - 65 Caps, 6 Assists, 4 Goals
Young and talented, Candace Rivers has been making a push for a starting role ever since she first made the national team. However, with the current midfielders presenting one of the most-feared midfields in international hoofball and an army of world class reserves behind them, odds are Rivers won't be making the starting XI for a while. Until then, Candace Rivers will likely continue to act in the capacity which she has served in, as a dangerous bench player with the versatility to perform defensive and offensive tasks with ease.

Image
#14 - MF - Apple Pie (Earth Pony - Female) - 29 - Image Avalloca Aztecs (ALL) - 116 Caps, 40 Assists, 15 Goals
A longtime player for the Equestrian national team, Apple Pie was one of the first to don the Equestrian States uniform in international competition. Like Subtle Trix, Apple Pie has made many appearances for the Ponies from the bench and once challenged Starlight Sparkle and Rapid Dash for the assists leader title. Recent years have seen the earth pony making fewer and fewer appearances for the squad, but she remains likely to be a constant on the team thanks to her considerable experience and skill at the position.

Image
#39 - MF - Apple Cobbler (Earth Pony - Female) - 16 - Image Jungle Strike FC (VIL) - 1 Cap
That Apple Cobbler has been called up to the national team at the young age of 16 is a testament to how much talent and potential she has as a player. The impressiveness of the feat is only increased by the already existing plethora of Equestrian talent in the midfield. Though her lone cap thus far came in the final minutes of the Olympics group stage, Apple Cobbler has already begun to look capable of going hoof-to-toe with international level athletes. Over the next few years, Apple Cobbler seems likely to improve as a player and work towards a spot on the starting XI; but for now, she's with the Ponies mostly to learn.

Forwards
Image
#10 - FW - Fire Dash (Pegasus - Male) - 30 - Image Ponyville United (EQS) - 201 Caps, 30 Assists, 145 Goals - CAPTAIN
Team captain since its creation and all-time leader in caps and goals, Fire Dash is the unwavering leader of the national team both on and off the pitch. He might be getting older, but Fire Dash's numbers have never really felt the need to decline. As his name suggests, the Equestrian captain is fast. Very fast. Teams looking to beat the Equestrian States will have to cover Fire Dash well to shut down the Ponies' powerful offense, a task that has become only more difficult by the inclusion of Rainbow Blitz and Thunderlane on the squad. At the club level, Fire Dash has also been impressive, joining Starlight Sparkle in leading Ponyville United to six consecutive league titles and as far as the UICA Globe Cup group stage.

Image
#7 - FW - Thunderlane (Pegasus - Male) - 26 - Image Kiiara-Torra (VIL) - 129 Caps, 19 Assists, 46 Goals
Although Thunderlane might not be the most imposing figure on the Ponies' offense, his value to the team comes primarily in his versatility. With the passing and control ability of a midfielder, and the shooting prowess of a striker, Thunderlane is a well-rounded player with his best years in front of him. Yet opponents facing Thunderlane often overlook his abilities, focusing instead on the more obvious dangers from Fire Dash and Rainbow Blitz. It is in these matches where Thunderlane excels, and when Thunderlane excels, the Ponies are an extremely difficult team to beat.

Image
#28 - FW - Pristina Shine (Unicorn - Female) - 20 - Image Iturributa United (ITB) - 6 Caps, 4 Goals
Pristina Shine's inclusion on the national team was anticipated by many, and the only surprise some have expressed is that she's not starting. When world-famous Iturributa United signed the young Equestrian forward to their team, the supporters were thrilled to finally see a pony starting for such a well-known club, but the move quickly became more than just a publicity stunt by the Iturributans. In one of the higher-ranked associations, on one of the best-known teams, Pristina Shine was a goal-scoring machine. By season's end the then 19 year-old Equestrian was third in the league in scoring, cementing her place on the national team. The Olympics were Pristina Shine's first challenge, and the unicorn exceeded all expectations once again. Averaging 0.67 goals per match, it's difficult to deny that the Equestrian States has yet another potential great on their team, adding a striker to complement the already-heralded midfield trio of Rainbow Blitz, Krystal, and Stardust.

Image
#30 - FW - Sonar (Bat Pony - Male) - 22 - Image Matthew City Senators (NSI) - 32 Caps, 5 Assists, 15 Goals
Young and talented, Sonar was the first bat pony to appear on the Ponies' roster and has since proven that his inclusion was no mistake by Twilight Striker. Sonar made his presence felt in both of the last two qualifying campaigns, scoring critical goals to give the Ponies the boost they needed to make it to the finals. The bat pony has spent most of his professional career with the Matthew City Senators, which has been a force near the top of the table for years thanks in part to Sonar's contributions.

The following forward(s) played for the Equestrian States national team during qualifying, but did not make the final 23-player squad.

Image
#23 - FW - Thunderbolt (Pegasus - Female) - 24 - Image Canterlot Stars (EQS) - 19 Caps, 2 Assists, 3 Goals
Thunderbolt is half of one of four sibling pairs to play for the Equestrian national team, being the sister of midfielder Lightning Bolt. While not as decorated as her twin brother, Thunderbolt's spot on the national team is relatively secure, giving the Ponies another valuable reserve on the offense. With speed almost equal to that of her aptly-named brother Lightning Bolt, Thunderbolt is more skilled in connecting the midfield to the forwards and has doubled as an attacking midfielder for the Canterlot Stars in United League matches. Like Thunderlane, she is a versatile and multi-talented forward who can contribute to the Ponies' devastatingly quick counterattacks.

Image
#29 - FW - Katherine Everdeen (Human - Female) - 28 - Image San Jose Sharks (NSI) - 23 Caps, 1 Assist, 2 Goals
The older of the two Everdeen sisters, Katherine (or Kitty as her friends and admirers call her) is very fast and very agile. She doesn't have the endurance of most equine stars, but makes up for it with her speed and accuracy in shooting. The elder Everdeen meshes excellently with her younger sister, and it's not uncommon to see the two come on at the same time as substitutes. Katherine was a recent signing for the San Jose Sharks of Sunrise League One, where she led the team in scoring and finished tied for fifth for most goals behind fellow Equestrians Ironhide and Sonar in her first season there.

Coaches & Staff
Image
Head Coach - Image Twilight Striker (Unicorn - Female) - 45
The head coach of the national team and perhaps the pony most responsible for its very existence is Twilight Striker. One of the first hoofball stars to ever capture the Equestrian public's hearts, Striker was a breathtaking forward in her day, but unfortunately was never able to wear the purple and orange as a player. But refusing to hold the endless delays of the administration against the Equestrian people, Twilight Striker agreed to coach the team in the Baptism of Fire and has been the Ponies' leader ever since. While she might not have the same prestige as other national team coaches from other top-ranked nations, Twilight Striker is more than competent and has a brilliant mind for offensive strategy.

Image
Assistant Coach - Image Mad Dash (Pegasus - Male) - 47
Like Twilight Striker, Mad Dash was a top player in the Equestrian Premier League before the national team's formation. Inducted with the top Equestrian coach into the Equestrian States Hoofball Hall of Fame's inaugural class, Mad Dash is primarily responsible for training the Ponies' midfielders and has been approached before by several national teams looking for head coaches. However, the pegasus has remained loyal to his friend Twilight Striker over the years and is well-respected by the Equestrian public.

Image
Assistant Coach - Image Hat Trix (Unicorn - Male) - 49
Along with Mad Dash and Twilight Striker, Hat Trix has remained with the Equestrian national team ever since he was brought on board by the former NESC to coach the team in the Baptism of Fire. While Hat Trix was a striker in his playing years, the unicorn has displayed a surprising ability to teach and hone the talents of the Equestrian defenders. Previous campaigns' struggles on defense have occasionally led to the media calling for his firing or reassignment to a more appropriate post, calls which increased drastically in the aftermath of the World Cup 64 finals.

Image
Goalkeeping Coach - Image Fire Blossom (Unicorn - Male) - 44
Training the talented Equestrian goalkeepers is Fire Blossom, whose exploits as a keeper in the EPL earned him much respect among hoofball fans nationwide. Though Fire Blossom rarely speaks to the media for any reason whatsoever, his early statements doubting Mac Stevenson's ability to replace High Soarin' back in World Cup 61 qualifying made him look like a genius when Stevenson's selection turned out to be one of Twilight Striker's greatest blunders. Likewise, comments in support of Gentle Breeze have improved Fire Blossom's reputation as an intuitive coach able to spot which players give the Equestrians the best chance to succeed.

Image
Scout - Image Diamond Star (Unicorn - Female) - 42
Few outside of the Equestrian States would be able to correctly identify the nation's top scout, but Diamond Star has a fairly impressive résumé, being the first to spot the potential of stars such as Thunderlane and Rainbow Blitz. Diamond Star specializes in locating and recruiting domestic talent for the Equestrian national team.

Image
Scout - Image Golden Hooves (Earth Pony - Female) - 53
Unlike Diamond Star, Golden Hooves' talents lie more in scouting the abilities of foreign players and how they match up against those of the Ponies. The earth pony mare is particularly well-known for her recruiting of foreign prospects for the Canterlot Stars and Ponyville United clubs.

Image
Fitness Coach - Image Craig Jackson (Human - Male) - 42
Hired in the midst of the injury-filled disaster that was World Cup 63 qualifying, Craig Jackson was the first human member of the Ponies' staff and has done well in the last three years keeping the Equestrian States relatively injury-free. While fitness coaches generally don't get much respect or attention from the press, Jackson's gift for keeping players of so many species healthy cannot be overlooked or scoffed upon.

Team Strategy

Image

The Ponies' most-used formation is easily the slightly modified 3-5-2, preferred by Head Coach Twilight Striker because of the strength and dominance of the Equestrian midfielders. Thanks to the versatility of the Equestrian States' players, the formation gives the Ponies the ability to shift quickly from the offense to the defense and vice versa. Aside from the formation itself, the Equestrians have a number of definitive strengths and weaknesses.

First, the Ponies are among the world's fastest and most durable teams, using their natural advantages to tire out opponents. With those two traits as the defining characteristics of the Equestrian style of play, the squad excels at producing chances in the latter stages of the match. But while the attack dominates the second half, opposing squads have occasionally found success going all-out at the start of the match in an attempt to build an insurmountable lead.

Another area in which the Equestrian States has traditionally dominated is in the aerial battles for headers. While the Ponies are generally shorter than their opponents, the team is often credited with impressive leaping abilities (particularly among the pegasai players). Controlling headers makes the team lethal on corner kicks, and opponents looking to defeat the Equestrians must limit the number conceded to the Ponies or else face a barrage of dangerous short-range shots from the Ponies' attackers.

On Species and Equestrian Hoofball
The Equestrian States is a nation of incredible diversity. When many countries make this kind of statement, they are referring only to racial matters dealing with differences in skin color or culture. But the Equestrian States takes diversity to a whole new level, with dozens of sapient species living alongside each other in harmony. From pegasai to griffons, and humans to dragons, the Equestrian States is among the most diverse nations known to exist. But diversity has also had a unique and intriguing impact on the playing of sports in the Equestrian States, and hoofball is no exception. In the following paragraphs, the natural strengths, weaknesses, and tendencies of each prominent species in the Equestrian States will be explored, offering those unfamiliar with the Equestrian States a chance to explore the wonderful diversity that makes the Equestrian States a great country and gives our beloved national hoofball team a versatility that few others can hope to match.

Home Stadiums
Royal Equestria Stadium

Image

Location: Canterlot
Capacity: 98,625
Tenants: Equestrian States National Team

Not far from the traditional home of the Equestrian States' government, Royal Equestria Stadium is one of the newest sports venues in the nation and can seat nearly 100,000 ponies with standing room for thousands more. Built to replace the aging Equestria Dome as the official home of the national teams, Royal Equestria Stadium is a reflection of the country, truly representing its traditions, natural beauty, and modernity. With a roof of magically-sculpted crystal, the stadium is awe-inspiring in its grandeur and has allowed the Equestrian States to show its most appealing side to the rest of the world. Royal Equestria Stadium has hosted a number of major events, including the 57th Cup of Harmony final, the 21st World Cup of Hockey finals, and the annual United Cup final.

Diamond Park

Image

Location: Stalliongrad
Capacity: 75,000
Tenants: Stalliongrad HC

Though Stalliongrad is not as impressive a city as Canterlot, Diamond Park is one of the most stunning accomplishments of modern equine engineering. Built into the very sides of the mountains, a carved overhang provides shelter from the sun, and unicorn magic gives the rocky stadium protection from destructive rainfall when the Ministry of Weather Control schedules it. Named for the seams of gems and precious metals that can still be seen crisscrossing the roof, Diamond Park is a beautiful stadium that stands out in a city that has become wealthy through nearby mines. (OOC: I'm aware that the above image does not fit with the description given. Add one or two tiers and replace the overhang with one made of rock, and you've got a mental image of Diamond Park.)

Elements Stadium

Image

Location: Ponyville
Capacity: 48,750
Tenants: Ponyville United

Ponyville might not look like a commercial hub, but the city's traditional town-like architecture hides its true status. Pleasant is the best word to describe Ponyville and its citizens, and the seamless incorporation of modern technology and conveniences allows visitors to feel at ease when in town. Centrally-located between Canterlot, Everfree, Manehattan, and (to a degree) Cloudsdale, the city also serves as a transportation hub, thriving on the Equestrian States' booming tourism industry. Elements Stadium itself is named after the Elements of Harmony, the guiding principles of the majority faith of the nation: Harmonism. Visiting fans often enjoy the stadium's central position alongside the crystal-clear Mane River, not far from some of Ponyville's largest and nicest hotels.

Wild Grounds

Image

Location: Everfree
Capacity: 56,500
Tenants: Everfree Forest HC

To foreign visitors Everfree might seem just like any of the world's jungle cities (albeit with a large population of non-humans), but for Equestrians it's the strangest place in the country. Surrounded by the dense Everfree Forest for which it is named, Everfree boasts the largest population of non-equines of any Equestrian city, and is home to a sizable community of humans. Elsewhere in the Equestrian States, the pegasai weather ponies control the clouds and weather patterns of the nation, allowing Equestrian farmers to take advantage of optimal conditions for agriculture. But in the Everfree Forest, the weather is nigh unpredictable and difficult to predict. Added to the presence of countless predatory creatures, the Forest is a forbidding place for ponies. Humans and other non-equine sapients were less afraid of the Everfree's bizarre weather patterns (though the hydras and manticores were still a deterrent) and ventured into the Forest, eventually stumbling upon a clearing which evolved into the modern city of Everfree. Wild Grounds itself is appropriately named, being home to the ever-so-slightly crazed supporters of Everfree Forest HC and located near the very edges of the Forest itself. With a breathtaking view of the city, Wild Grounds offers one of the best atmospheres for hoofball in the country and the city has been a regular stop for the national team ever since the Ponies began to play outside of Canterlot.

Sky-High Coliseum

Image

Location: Cloudsdale
Capacity: 45,000
Tenants: Cloudsdale Flyers, Cloudsdale Colts

Like many hoofball venues in the Equestrian States, Sky-High Coliseum's name was given for a reason. Located in the pegasai-dominated city of Cloudsdale, Sky-High Coliseum is a nice 2.5 kilometers above ground, with nothing besides the clouds separating it from the grassy plains below. Made of the clouds that it is named after, Cloudsdale is not a city for those who are afraid of heights or magic, the latter due to the necessity of spells for non-pegasai to walk upon the clouds. To accommodate foreign supporters who are not so keen on being zapped with magic by a unicorn mage, large zeppelin-like balloons based in Ponyville are employed by the Hoofball Association that will carry a limited number of fans above Sky-High Coliseum to where they can safely observe the match without the use of magic. Owing to the malleable nature of clouds, the stadium can also be expanded to seat up to 65,000 spectators, though such additional seating is only used when a massive crowd is anticipated. Sky-High Coliseum's use as a venue for international competitions has been criticized in the past, as the hesitation of foreign supporters to sit in the stadium itself generally allows the Equestrians to gain an almost unbeatable home-field advantage.

The Kits for the Åsløtten-Bëðerbørg så Česky National Team.

Coaching Staff

Head Coach: Oscar Olsen
Age: 73
Ethnicity: Danish
Olsen has been the coach of the national team for 24 years, constantly employing his attacking 3-4-3 formation throughout that tenure. He is more or less the face of the program, and is highly respected throughout the country. He seems to run through a lot of assistant coaches, but few people mind. Olsen runs a tight ship, and any and all infractions are taken note of and dealt with quickly. Outside critics often call him strict, but nearly every player past and present vouches for his compassion and kindness.

Assistant Coach: Jan Svoboda
Age: 38
Ethnicity: Czech
Entering his third year as an assistant under Olsen, Svoboda left a job as the head coach of the Brno club team in order to come help out with the national team. His quiet style is seen to be a better fit for Olsen’s calm and orderly management of the squad. He is a defensive specialist and seeks to steer the team’s style towards a more defensively oriented one.

Starting XI

Goalkeeper

Jakub Køčera
Age: 19
Height: 6’ 4”
Number: 10
Ethnicity: Czech
Club: Cato B, Felix
18 caps, 1.39 GAA
The youngest goalie in the history of the national team, Køčera is a fiery and talented presence in goal. Constantly yelling for more noise from the crowd or violently gesturing to his teammates, he promises to be a long term presence in goal if he can contain his flame. He has had some discipline issues in the past, but none since he has been on the national team.

Defense

LB: Isak Beneš
Age: 26
Height: 5’ 10”
Number: 26
Ethnicity: Czech-Danish
Club: Sabrefell Athletic, New Sideburn
18 caps, 1 goal
Beneš is a new addition to the team, having stayed put and passed over in the development teams. His short and stocky stature make him a different type of defender; he is not afraid to get dirty and throw some elbows around. This makes him both booking vulnerable and a significant presence on the field, which he uses to provide the spark for counter attacks. This translates off the field as well, as Beneš gives frequent inflammatory interviews that toe the line. He loves to trash talk.

CB: Mads Sørensen
Age: 37
Height: 6’ 9”
Number: 23
Ethnicity: Danish
18 caps, 1 goal
The tallest and oldest defender on the team, Sørensen serves as the last resort in the event of a counter attack, as well as the commanding arial presence on both offense and defense. His height allows him to rise above the opponent and deflect the ball whichever way he pleases. Sørensen is also expected to stay on for several more years, as he has constantly emphasized that he’s still capable of playing. His calm and fatherly demeanor, along with his helpful advice and leadership, led Olsen to name him captain three years ago after Jiri Marksen retired.

RB: Magnus Horæk
Age: 21
Height: 6’ 4”
Number: 14
Ethnicity: Danish
Club: Brinemouth, New Sideburn
18 caps
Horæk is a thoroughly consistent player. His passing and dribbling are spot-on, if not always powerful, and his knowledge of the game exceeds nearly everyone on the team. He’s a mostly quiet person who likes to keep to himself, and typically declines interviews.

Midfield

LM: Victor Äsmundsen
Age: 28
Height: 6’ 3”
Number: 9
Ethnicity: Danish
Club: Ituraitz Victory, Astograth
18 caps, 1 goal, 11 assists
Äsmundsen is the classic attacking midfielder, with precision passing and shooting along with a constant urge to be upfield. As such, he is often seen as a fourth striker when such situations call. He is lean and agile up and down the pitch, meaning it is not uncommon to see him both on the offense and defense of a particular game flow. He’s a calm player off the field unless the topic turns to politics, in which case his communist side comes flowing out.

LCM: Emil Rasmußen
Age: 24
Height: 6’ 2”
Number: 31
Ethnicity: Swedish
Club: Gesterlake FC, Astograth
18 caps, 1 goal, 5 assists
Rasmußen is a typical balanced midfielder, equally comfortable on offense and defense, with and without the ball. He doesn’t have particularly spectacular talents, but his consistency and extremely low amount of mistakes make him a relaible force at midfield. He’s typically used just as a cog in the wheel, but sometimes when he breaks out of that role, he can sneak by defenders unaware of his prowess. His demeanor carries off the pitch as well, as he’s relatively quiet in public.

RCM: Elias Ruzïck
Age: 27
Height: 6’ 3”
Number: 2
Ethnicity: Czech-Danish
Club: Pradera FC, Valladares
18 caps, 3 goals, 7 assists
Most commonly known as the counterattack catalyst, Ruzïck’s prodigious bursts of speed and nimble footwork make him a top assister to the major forwards. He can easily take the ball through the middle third of the field just by dribbling, and often seeks to play an uptempo game when possible. He’s a seven year veteran of the team with great leadership skills, and is seen as a potential candidate to replace Mads Sørensen as captain once the defender retires.

RM: Olle Anderßon
Age: 21
Height: 6’ 0”
Number: 6
Ethnicity: Swedish
Club: Cato B, Felix
18 caps, 2 goals, 7 assists
Anderßon plays with a sweeping defensive style, focusing on his pass breakups and challenges. When a more defensive scheme is required, he is the one to drop back and take charge in preventing a goal. His age sometimes gets the best of him, though, as he may overplay certain passes in the hope that he intercepts them. He is seen as an opportunist both on and off the field, his parents being recent Norwegian immigrants who lived just above the poverty line. Olle is humble due this upbringing.

Strikers

LS: William Čalrek
Age: 29
Height: 6’ 6”
Number: 15
Ethnicity: Czech-Swedish
Club: Maximum City, New Sideburn
18 caps, 5 goals, 1 assist
A self described “nasty a** mothaf***a,” Čalrek is known more for his off field antics than his on field performance. While he’s well above average as a forward, with superb crossing and shooting, his colorful interviews and dispensity to tell the truth, no matter who it hurts, garner him the most attention. He’s been suspended from the team 5 times, and been recommended for demotion by the F.A. at least twice. It doesn’t help that he’s a member of the NRP, the furthest right party, and also sports tattoos across his body, from the neck to the shins and everywhere in between.

CS: Edvin Astøberg
Age: 23
Height: 6’ 3”
Number: 8
Ethnicity: Swedish
Club: Woodward Townsmen, New Gordonopia
18 caps, 19 goals, 1 assist, Baptism of Fire 53 Team of Tournament
If any one player could be called the face of the team, it would be Astøberg. His goalscoring prowess, combined with his good looks and charisma, make him a fan favorite, while his compassion and charitable advice in the locker room make him popular amongst teammates. The only thing holding him from the captaincy is his age, which is an asset in nearly all other categories. He seeks to attain great heights in his career, and he has a lot of time to do so.

RS: Zlatan Dvakošek
Age: 25
Height: 6’ 1”
Number: 12
Ethnicity: Czech
Club: Marion Hawks, Barunia
18 caps, 4 goals
While Astøberg has the hearts of the Nordic fans, the face for the Czech fans is Dvakošek. With his rough blue collar style of play, combined with powerful shots and vibrant celebrations, he is a natural place for Czechs to put their support. Under some pressure, he has also been an active proponent of the Czech Nationalist Alliance, campaigning publicly for them. This has created some divide between him and his teammates, and with the Czech fan base pulling on him ever harder, that gap may increase.

Squad Name: Sea Dragons

Home Pitch: Ekartera’al se Fuborii Vegai (Vegai Football Cathedral)
Image
Colors: Deep Sky Blue & Yellow
Image
Style: Tidal Surge 3-2-2-1-2
(-2 defensive)

About the Tidal Surge
The Tidal Surge formation is a hybrid style that makes use of athleticism in key “flex” positions that allow the formation to ebb and flow between styles to take advantage of personnel match-ups and break opportunities. At any point in the match the Tidal Surge can more remind viewers and opponents of a 5-3-2 (most often) or a 3 4-3 (least often) but can usually be found flexing in between those extremes.
Three key positions make this formation work. The offensive midfielder with which everyone is familiar and the two hybrid positions called “UP” backs. These two positions are a direct cross between center midfielders and outside backs. These two positions use athletic ability to move up and down the pitch changing the formation to fit the needs of current needs. Thus at any one moment the formation can resemble anything from a 3-4-3 to a 3-5-2 to a 5-3-2 creating, quite nearly, the perfect positions for almost any situation.

Other style notes:
“Smashmouth Footy”. That is how the Sea Dragons play when at their best. They prefer the motto “Hit First, Ask Forgiveness Later” and yet they have become adept enough as to remain just on the safe side of the cards so many other squads get. When you play the Sea Dragons two truths are evident - 1: You had better be ready to play tough and 2: you had better be ready for rough play.

World Cup 66

Image

Football may still be strictly amateur in the broken islands of Wight, which has a short but proud tradition of being enthusiastic and not very good at football, but the Sondry Folk stunned the multiverse, not least it's own citizens and the inmates of The Holy Asylum1, both sets of supporters not supposing for a moment that a bunch of fishermen, postmen, miners and university lecturers, with a couple of full journeyman professionals plying their trade in foreign climes, could lift the ultimate crown. But Wight are indeed reigning world champions. Add to that a crop of bright young things optimistically dubbed The Golden Generation, who have now won world titles at Under-15, Under-21 and full international levels, and you have the makings of a dynasty, albeit an amateur part-time one. Tamarindian warhorse Masvidal managed Wight to the top of world football, and he retired at the top following the World Cup win over Polar Islandstates. Architect of those two junior titles and assistant to Masvidal for the senior championship was Athelstan Marchand, recently joining his Tamarindian friend in the World Cup Hall of Fame and succeeding him as manager of the senior team. He will be joined by the Brothers Hummingbird as joint assistants, Flavo dividing his time between the national team and managing Arkham Asyluum, Mardellion still playing in the twilight of his career in the Pazhujeb Islands where he is looking for an out from troubled famous old club Juvanapam.

Most likely to get...

Tap-in: Lorccán Cotterill
Scorcher: Israel Falcon
Red card: Solmund Faas
Stretcher: Etienne Gynn

Several of the World Cup winning squad will be on duty for another shot at the world title they won last time, although there have been changes. Seniors Manaccas Kent, Wace Gundry, F.C. Sumner, and Yestin Kennard all opted to retire from international football after the World Cup win, while fringe players Wenn Bosanko, Jowan Cawse and Louis Moran don't make the cut this time around. Most notable absentees are of course the late Big John Corfe-Sheviock following his... well... you know, it's still hard too talk about... and Cleve Scrivenor who was forced to retire during the last World Cup following a serious head injury. Wonderkid Israel Falcon, who burst onto the scene at the last world cup, returns after sitting out the AOCAF tournament - Coach Athelstan Marchand explained that the boy needed a rest following his consecutive tours in the 4th Under-15 World Championship, Di Bradini 27, AOCAF-40 and World Cup 65. He was missed in that tournament as the Sondry Folk rather limped into a fortunate semi-final placing but with four draws it was a less than convincing tournament - Wight perhaps still suffering from the hangover of winning the World Cup. Did I mention that Wight won the World Cup already?

The biggest surprise in selection is the exclusion of fullback Chavaqquq Yaval, who failed to hold down a permanent place last time around and with indifferent league form has missed out completely for World Cup qualifying. He will hope he can sneak into the finals squad, if Wight proceed as expected and qualify. Yaval's place is taken by rising star Etienne Gynn, while youngster Austen Scantlebury gets the reserve slot. Coach Marchand has announced a larger squad for qualifying than is usual, with an additional fifteen players on the back-up list for qualifying. In the final tournament Marchand will reduce this to the usual lucky twenty-three.

The Septen Islands' impressive run to the quarter-finals of the recent Cuppet has won places for four of their players, although none are likely to be starters. Exciting midfielder Alfred Messa makes the first twenty-three and will likely be a substitute midfielder, while keeper Claude Gamelin, midfielder Saville Berie and striker Florent Gáspár Daniël all make the back-up fifteen. Despite winning the tournament, there are no call-ups for Pre-Koselite players although Timorous Peter and Roy Hollowfruit both recently appeared for the Wight B-team. The Septentrionax are joined by Austen Scantlebury, Tregue Zettner and Tintagel Gantry as first-timers in the 23-man main squad, while the back-up fifteen welcomes a total of nine new faces. Watch out for Guru Pompey, a right sided midfielder who has come from nowhere to win a place so close to the main squad: he could be Athelstan Marchand's secret weapon.

23-Man Main Squad

Coach Athelstan Marchand will most likely use this team as the basis for qualifying, and will publish a full teamsheet before each game. The back-up squad below is the fringe element and they may get the odd call-up for 'easy' games against unranked opposition who are not performing well, but the 15-man back-up squad will be cut for the finals tournament, if Wight qualifies.

Goalkeepers

Antrim Quentine - (Aged 31) Team in Wight: FC Berserkr. Full caps for Wight: 67
World Cup 65 winning keeper Quentine made his debut in AOCAF-38 and inherited the number 1 shirt from Azer Baloo in World Cup 63. He had previously watched from the bench during three consecutive semi-final tournaments: AOCAFs 36 & 37; and Cup of Harmony 53. That is behind him now following the world title and a losing appearance in the classic AOCAF 40 final. With years ahead of him as the first choice keeper, he is carving his own reputation as a leader of successful national teams. He is an employee of the Accident & Emergency division in Pompeii, and started his football career for their team until a move to FC Berserkr.

Reserve

Burien Kneebone - (22) Haïtiens, 4 caps.
Quite the oddball, this fellow, and very much the archetypal goalkeeper: daft as brush, genius, consistently inconsistent from the sublime to the ridiculous. Suspected to have dissociative identity disorder which would explain much. He is from a long line of Kneebones who were connected to the Femurs of Stockett and the Shinns of Whelm County back in Old Wight. Kneebone played at the first World Under-15 Championships as reserve keeper behind Tecca Craddick, although he made only one appearance, coming on as half-time sub after Craddick succumbed to a minor thumb injury, but it was enough to get him a winners medal for the tournament. Missing the subsequent Under-21 title, he has made up for it by being selected as a non-starting sub at the last World Cup & AOCAF. Has jumped ahead of the competition as Wight's top goalkeeping prospect, with Dexter Mackay, the considered number two, missing out on selection altogether. Recently moved from his home club Cockharrow FC to mighty Haïtiens.

Image
Defenders

Bram Carlo Boyle - (28) Arnold Bedsit Rovers - Left Fullback. 43 caps, 3 goals.
A back-up for the AOCAF-37 squad, he made his debut for the national team in '38, and went on to make three appearances in the world cup 64 campaign despite being second behind the great Atta Myrme, but got a starting place in the AOCAF tournament with Atta rested, and has retained that place after impressing. He started as a makeweight for the under-21 team, broke into the starting eleven through injury to Evan Briggs, and performed wonders. Established himself as first choice left-back in the last world cup. Plays for Arnold Bedsit Rovers in the Broken Islands Association, although he started his career with AFC Whelm. Works part-time as an administrator for the Wightfishery, that ministry which deals with fishing in the Salamanic Seas, which the Wightlingfolk are rather good at. Now has World Cup winner and AOCAF Cup runners-up medals.

Etienne Gynn - (22) Ours Française - Right Fullback. 2 caps.
A cultured fullback who likes to get forward, he is one of the prospects Wightlingfolk are most excited about. Won a world Under-15 championship medal in Farfadillis, and made his second appearance in the 27th Di Bradini Cup having missed out on the title win. His first call-up to the seniors was a s reserve in the last AOCAF, and with Chavaqquq Yaval a little on the inconsistent side in terms of his form, he took a good chance of getting game time and now gets a starter's call. A roma gypsie in a previous life in France, he came through The Small Door via tuberculosis, but has been revived in Wight with a new set of lungs so impressive he can run for days. Few enough already can keep up with him in terms of pace or workrate.

M.V.Cabel - (27) Arnold Bedsit Rovers - Centre Half. 56 caps, 3 goals. Captain
Captain of the World Cup winning team, Cabel was appointed permament captain for the full Wight national team in the World Cup 64 in Wight, in what was his first tournament as a named starter. Previously he had captained the Di Bradini Cup winning side. Appearing for the first time in a senior squad during World Cup 62, M.V. Cabel has impressed at all levels and had long been slated as the future captain, something he accomplished after only 19 games for his country. Cabel's full name is McGlennacuddie Varifocal Cabel. He is the only son of Scottish opticians. Has World Cup winners medal, an AOCAF Cup runners-up medal and his Di Bradini Cup win.

Marriner Friend-Forsaken - (28) Arnold Bedsit Rovers - Centre Half. 117 caps, 4 goals.
World Cup winner, first Wight centenarian cap winner, and all-round hero of Wightling football. From his teens he was one of the brightest members of the Wight squads turning out for a team formerly in the fifth tier of the Haphazard Foundation and now one of the leading sides in the Broken Islands Association. Friend-Forsaken has been considered the best defender in Wightling football history with a clutch of top AO clubs vying for his signature. So far he is happy to turn out for the Rovers. He established himself as first choice defender at an early age, and was previously the record holder for youngest national player at 16 years 123 days, broken only in AOCAF-40 by Israel Falcon. With 117 caps already, Friend-Forsaken passed Masvidal in the last World Cup tournament as the first player for Wight to reach a century of caps, and may set an unbreakable record with another tournament or two in him yet. Surely the next nominee for the Hall of Fame, considered likely to have got the nomination this time but for the fact he is still playing.

Reserve

Januarius Cove - (28) Six Queens Colony (Codigo Bola) - Left Fullback. 3 caps
Januarius Cove is famous in Wight as a Bola player, and for his appearances in the Swamp Soccer world cup. He is the third player to switch codes at the highest level, after Big John Corfe-Sheviock and F.C Sumner. Considered something of a rum bugger, he is a jerseyman for Six Queens Colony Bóla mob. He has a appeared in the last three Swamp Soccer cups and has become a legend in Wight, having attempted to become the first man to sail single-handed around the multiverse using only a map made by United Gordonopia (and a boat built in Langstone). He turned left out of Wight instead of right, and floundered in the doldrums between Atlantian Oceania and Bloumany. Has earned the nickname A to B as a result.

Austen Scantlebury - (20) AFC Portsmouth - Right Fullback
Appearing as a reserve in the Under-15s second World Championship and DBC-27squad, Scantlebury has spent his youth as back-up to Etienne Gynn both at international and club level - yet another product of the impressive Beggars Lane Youth Club team, going on to apprentice at AFC Portsmouth. With Gynn too old to turn out for the Under 21s, Scantlebury finally got his time in the sun and impressed at that level. He finds himself back behind Gynn again for the world cup. A bricklayer in his working day, and admirer of concrete.

Climo Coss - (23) Mâ Âlâmëómë (Farfadillis) - Centre Half. 14 caps
Winner of Under-15 and Under-21 world title medals, and now the full World Cup title, Coss is one of the Golden Generation, a small group who have completed the treble. Recently transferred to Mâ Âlâmëómë in Farfadillis after a brief stint at Septen Island club, Ours Française, where he signed from his first club Azerbaycan FC. He has taken the opportunity to take on a professional contract following success in the World Cup and moving to the 'interesting' country of Farfadillis. He should be fine - a boy with an eye for an escapade, Coss has been plagued with disciplinary issues during his short junior career, relating less to his cheerful temperament and more to his sense of comic timing, coaches often say he would be a world class prospect if only he would take the game at least half-seriously. It is unlikely. Climo is a 'labrat' of the Ely Fen Genetics College in Miskatonia, adopted by Cuthbert & Clarys Coss and brought to the Broken Islands. He made his full national debut in World Cup 64, and has an AOCAF runners-up medal to compliment his three world titles.

Izaäk Abel - (26) Four Bit Irregulars - Centre Half. 12 caps
Abel made his breakthrough after winning a World Under-21 title and is highly regarded, having just also won a national domestic title with his club. Playing for the team founded by former Wight midfield star Four Bit, the ultimate footballing calculator, Abel has had a schooling in computational football, and plays with a cool and steely determination. He would tell you that 75.333r% of his career passes have been successful, 81.746% of his attempted tackles have been successful, his team averages 53.234% possession when he is playing and he averages 2'33" of ball time per game, approximately. Wired up to the Irregulars networked game engine, he can also take a feed from Four Bit himself if the player is present at a match, enhancing his optimal performance index by roughly 19.878854378218% when compared with his usual non-wired performances. Now has senior and junior World Cup winners medals, and a UICA Champions Cup winners medal.

Image
Midfielders

Argon Skewes - (22) Spit City - Left Midfielder. 22 caps, 1 goal.
World Cup winner and another of the ‘Golden Generation’ who have bagged winners medals at the World Cup and Under-15 and Under-21 levels, Argon is the chief successor to beloved-if-not-legendary Mardellion Hummingbird. Appeared in the full national squad for the first time at World Cup 64. Skewes was seen as the long-term replacement for Mardellion, but had to wait a bit longer to step up to starter with Yestin Kennard covering that spot for the winning campaign - but Skewes still got plenty of gametime and made a substitute appearance in the final. Earned a runners-up medal at AOCAF 40 where he scored his first goal for the nation. Harking orginally from Myddle, a hamlet of West Mercia, where in the middle ages he caught the rat pox and died, along with two other brothers and a sister. In Old Wight he lived for a time in the Black Engine Orphanage, before being adopted by Aschylus Skewes and Donna Maw. They came to the broken islands during the Great Remove. Argon has a footballing younger brother Rumon, as well as their adopted brother Ludo Negus, another of the Skewes clan. All three came through at Ouistreham Rouge, although Argon has moved on to the reigning national champions, Spit City.

Zachary Fosse-Gordon - (27) AFC Portsmouth - Right Midfielder. 55 caps, 12 goals.
World Cup winner and named, with Piran MacKenzie, the outstanding performer of the tournament for Wight. Winner of a Di Bradini Cup medal and one of the best players in that campaign as well, he also has an AOCAF runners-up medal to his name. Made his national debut as one of the younger players to win a full cap at AOCAF-37, stepping up to become a squad starter for the first time. Fosse-Gordon is one of the prodigious talents from the AFC Portsmouth academy, which has been tested to the limit in recent years as financial mismanagement has forced them to sell off every senior player registered at the club. All that's left are the amateurs and the kids. And, for reasons unexplained, Fosse-Gordon. When not earning money he's never going to receive for Pompey, Fosse-Gordon is a Senior Light Bender for the Wight Neon Company.

Piran MacKenzie - (26) Makosile United (Vilita) - Defensive Central Midfielder. 55 caps, 13 goals.
The best player in World Cup 65, he is a world cup winner and scored five goals in the finals tournament from a defensive midfield position. A Di Bradini Cup winner and until recently Wight's only professional footballer. Like M.V. Cabel, he appeared for the first time in a senior squad at World Cup 62, having debuted for the national team during the Under-21s tournament in Port Hawthorne. Former AFC Portsmouth trainee MacKenzie impressed enough during his first major tournament to win a professional contract in Vilita with Eastal Lunar and become the first Wightling, other than non-native Masvidal, to turn professional, and to play abroad. He has divided opinion in Wight with this move, where many hold to the high ideals of amateurism, and find this an insult to sporting purity, while others argue the nation should be proud of it's first football export. At Portsmouth they are just grateful for the undisclosed but allegedly 'substantial' transfer fee. In Vilita MacKenzie had instant success with Eastal, winning promotion from the second tier and a clutch of awards before a big move to Turoki Tide, where he was a minor player in the UICA Champions Cup win. Settling in Vilita as something of a journeyman, he then moved to Morata Valley where he has resumed his role as the big fish in a small pond, impressing as the Valley defied the odds to finish in the UICA places. Last season, after winning the world cup, he got another big move to Makosile United, his fourth club in the tropics. Inexplicably switches the spelling of his surname from McKenzie to MacKenzie from time to time, causing statisticians migraines all over the multiverse, but especially in Vilita - he may have other false identities, though what for, only a good future RP can tell.

Ia Rodda - (26) 1.FC Bjarnarey Flotilla - Attacking Central Midfielder. 31 caps, 5 goals
World Cup winner who came on as sub in the final to contribute to a shock victory over Polar Islandstates. With the tragic circumstances surround Big John, many feel he'll become the regular in the advanced midfield position favoured by coach Athelstan Marchand. Was a Di Bradini 25 championship winner, and more recently AOCAF-40 runner-up. In a rich crop of current central midfielders for Wight, he stands out as one of the bright ones, and was one of few to come out of the rather pedestrian AOCAF-41 showing with any credit. The rough-and-tough attacking midfielder struck up an excellent partnership at his club with rough-and-tough striker Masvidal, who was very much his technical mentor. This means Rodda, a tall, quick and solid pugilist, combines a decent reserve of skill with a considerable physical presence which he is happy to put about a bit on the field of play. The Fearless Red, they call him, on account of his dazzling mop of orange-red hair. And his fearlessness. Has just agreed a move into professional football with Polarian club Bjarnarey, where he will no doubt delight the small Wightling ex-pat community by joining up with half-Wightling half-Polarian wonderkid Vauxhall Jansen. But he will have to get over the prejudice of playing in the country robbed of a deserved world title by his own Sondry Folk.

Reserve

Tregue Zettner - (25) Quab City - Left Midfielder.
A surprise call-up, Zettner is captain of his club team who have impressed in recent seasons under the management of Halvosso Porter, reaching the Wight Cup final last season and finishing 6th in the league the season before. He has never been close the national squad before, but he offers an interesting contrast to the young and powerful Argon Skewes on the wing - Zettner has a low centre of gravity (he would dispute the description short and plump) and is technically gifted. Calls himself a 'Human Interactions Consultant' but many suspect that probably comes from a bullshit job generator website, and really he's a postman.

Levan St. Levan - (24) AFC Portsmouth - Right Midfielder. 11 caps.
Another of the AFC Portsmouth prodigies, following in the footsteps of such luminaries as Zachary Fosse-Gordon, Barlow Todd and of course Piran MacKenzie, in winning international honours at an early age - he debuted during qualifying of the last world cup and earned himself a winners medal for his 10 appearances across the tournament. Made his debut at AOCAF-39 where he won two caps, but had been out of contention since, until receiving a call up for the WC-65 tournament. A riveter at Billy Hayling's Yard, the famous boatbuilder in Langstone, St. Levan is an adaptable midfielder who can play either flank, centrally, and either defensive or offensive. Prefers an attacking right wing role, from where he is both a good provider of dangerous crosses and excellent at disrupting the opposition fullback's forward-raiding capabilities.

Jett Snyder - (22) Spit City - Central Midfielder. 11 caps, 1 goal.
One of the ‘Golden Generation’ – winning world titles at both Under-15 and Under-21 levels and now adding a full World Cup winners medal to his collection. Snyder has impressed at every level and is still a comparative youngster - sure to be part of this amateur dynasty everyone is talking about - in Wight at least... Son of the famous buccaneer Jordan de Marisco of Lundy, he was aboard Marisco's coastal-raiding corvette the Bristol Rover lost off the Brittany coast, aged only 8. Jett was being groomed by his father to be the "moste fearesoemest of all ye brigands of the Brystol Channel and the Eirish Seas" according to accounts at the time, but came to Wight a damp and scrawny thing. After hundreds of years, he was still a dripping wet and plaintive child, until he moved to new Wight, where he dried off, grew up, and plans to make an honest living in the Wightfishery.

Alfred Messa - (24) Ours Française - Attacking Central Midfielder
A rising star of Septen Island football, Messa was highly impressive at the recent Cuppet in Svalbard, Polar Islandstates, as the ragtag subnational team marched to the quarterfinals before an unlucky defeat. With a background lost in the general horrors of the last days of Septentrionia, when the government defected en masse and the Z-Virus devastated the already-collapsing society, it would be fair to say he has come from nowhere. Could be the surprise package of the tournament for Wight, much the way Israel Falcon was last time around. When not playing football Messa is a Chemical Plant Operator at the new fluid time manufactury at a secret location somewhere on the Septen Islands. His close proximity to the highly unstable chemical makes him hard to mark on the pitch, as he seems to move in more dimensions than the standard three.

Lorccán Cotterill - (30) Turoki Tide (Turori). 64 caps, 51 goals.
World Cup winning striker, who is now second highest national scorer in Wightling football behind only Masvidal (56 goals) and may push for the record if he can squeeze another World Cup out of his body. Made his debut in AOCAF-38. The former star of surprise village powerhouse Ouistreham Rouge has recently earned a move to top Vilitan side Turoki Tide, and while fans were initially cool on their new man, he must surely have won them over with his exploits in the World Cup. He has stepped up as the chief striker for Wight, outstripping the now retired Cleve Scrivenor and returning a remarkable goals to game ratio. Cotterill is an impressive physical striker and has earned his regular spot in the forward line. When not playing football, he is the village's elected Syndicate representative at the Bourse, and a career in politics or labour exchange awaits the militant footballer after retirement.

Israel Falcon - (18) Extramarine. 21 caps, 15 goals.
Impressed at the last Under 15s tournament where the Nippers reached the semi-finals, and was one of two players, with Ravi St. Pinnock, to make the step up to the Under-21s Di Bradini, where he again caught the eye in a generally disappointing tournament. Falcon burst onto the scene at AOCAF-40 where he was a surprise call-up, and broke the national record for youngest player to be capped for Wight at only 16 years and 75 days old, succeeding Marriner Friend-Forsaken to the record (16 years 123 days). His performances were outstanding and despite being selected as reserve for the last world cup, he quickly established himself as first choice when Cleve Scrivenor retired. He proved to be a sensation, scoring regularly including the third in the final win. With national favourites Flavo Hummingbird retired, and his younger brother Mardellion soon to follow suit, the nation will need a new hero with an avian surname, and Falcon might just be it.

Reserves

Manalaus Carne - (22) Kiiara-Torra (Vilita). 18 caps, 2 goals.
One of the ‘Golden Generation’ – winning world titles at both Under-15 and Under-21 levels and completing the hatrick with the World Cup 65 win. Carne made two DBC appearance and earned his first full international call-up at World Cup 64, although he did not play. Made his debut at AOCAF-40 and did enough to secure a move to the Vilitan League with Kiiara-Torraal. Something of a late developer, Manalaus turned out originally for troubled AFC Portsmouth. He is another 'labrat', from the Silvertown Campus Laboratory of the Miskatonic University. Much to the delight of former national manager the warhorse Masvidal, he is of the more physical breed of strikers, the type who intimidate the hardest of centre halves.

Solmund Faas - (24) Arnold Bedsit Rovers. 9 caps, 3 goals
First called up for AOCAF 39, he subsequently made odd appearances in World Cup 64 and AOCAF 40, but missed out on the World Cup 65 winning squad. But he is likely to press for more regular international footballer, being highly regarded. Allegedly a shape-shifting spirit who can appear in either human or bear form, though he most usually appears as an enormously large, black-and-hairy bearded human with shining eyes, remarkable brooding intelligence, a solitary nature and an occasionally foul temper. He's also a great forward with a very high goals-to-games ratio at club level, and can perform perfectly well as a stand-in defender, though he is likely to get very annoyed indeed if it looks to him like you are trying to convert him to the back four. Operates best as a lone striker, and says this is when he is at his happiest. A salmon fisherman, berry-picker, bee-keeper and student of Taoist philosophy.

Tintagel Gantry - (22) Búa's Boys
It is hard for any striker to 'burst onto the scene' in the way that Israel Falcon did. And therefore not fair to compare anyone to that incredible prodigy. But Gantry is an interesting prospect. He is a strong and intelligent footballer, adaptable to other positions, and a good foil for a livewire like Falcon. Though Coach Marchand caught everyone napping with this selection, putting him ahead of Evander Spurling and a clutch of other young prospects, it makes sense when you look at the tapes of his performances. With Lorccán Cotterill probably on his last tournament, Marchand will be looking for a natural partner for Falcon. Many would say that was Solmund Faas, but don't rule out Tintagel Gantry.

15-Man Back-up Squad

Coach Athelstan Marchand introduces a new system for the qualifiers only which includes a back-up squad of fifteen fringe players, including those who impressed in recent friendlies for the B-team.

HOME OF THE WORLD CHAMPIONS

With Wight winning joint hosting rights for the 54th Cup of Harmony with New Montreal States, a frantic building programme to create suitable stadia for prestigious international matches created several new facilities, the jewel in the crown being the twin stadium project of Spit Lawns. South Lawn subsequently hosted the 41st Series B Champions Cup Final. World football returned to Wight with the co-hosting of World Cup 64 with NMS, South Lawn hosting a number of big games including the Third-Place Play-Off.

The impressive twin stadia, built on the site of the old Spit Leisure Centre or the Lezzy, as it was known, is in the Looe district of the city. This is considered the finest and most reliable construction project in the broken islands brief, and distinctly patchy architectural and construction history. A pair of stadiums side by side, the larger South Lawn is now the National Stadium, while the North Lawn is the third home in the short history of Spit City, the biggest team on the broken islands. Looe Sewage Works FC and Penchant Wanderers, made homeless with this construction, have relocated to the Tricorn Arena, the former national stadium.

South Lawn, the national stadium, is in the foreground of this picture, with the North Lawn behind.

OLD WIGHT / NEW WIGHT
As described in AOCAF 36, and the preceding Cup of Harmony 52, Búa King of Uncertain Dimensions wished to have a copy of his Wight in Enness, and he selected Atlantian Oceania for reasons which remain opaque. In the Great Remove, as the story was called, the great storyteller and weaver of universes Ronny Tolkien was commissioned to sing the copy into existence, but as he was singing, a discordant note was struck up by Malcolm MacLaren, and the resulting mess was the Wight Catastrophe, in which the island appeared suddenly in a storm of volcanoes, earthquakes and tsunamis in the place where the Köselî landmass had stood. Today, the broken islands of new Wight are full of generally normal humans (with the odd clone and a few anthropomorphic pigs) while the more metaphysical beings have withdrawn back into Old Wight, which is a pungent kind of nirvana.

Goalkeepers

Name: Erfaon Lisdiren
Age: 28
Team: Image Colonial Sile Image
Notable Skills: Excellent diving, likes to do acrobatics (though not excessively)
Bio: Lisdiren is one of the four key players which are the "base" of the team. With the extremely, almost insane, attacking style that Farfadillis employs, it's obvious that they need a goalkeeper that's more than just good. Lisdiren is just that. He can turn a wonder-goal into a wonder-save at almost any time. He obviously concedes a lot of goals nonetheless, but when you compare the amount of goals he concedes with the amount of shots he stops, it's something you can simply ignore. He's not that good with handling, mind you. Probably, the most effective way to score against him is to shoot powerfully and cross fingers for a lucky rebound. However, Rossizzo is well aware of his achilless' heel, and so has made Faró aware of this, so even that method may be inefficient. He does sometimes commit some errors, but it's just so rare that you could blame many goalkeepers for doing the same before blaming him. Overall, a great pillar of the team, and consitent in the tightest sense of the word. Recently signed for Colonial Sile along with Santos Alaminos.

Name: Sifé Rigutti
Age: 21
Team: Image Ousteeble TU Image
Notable Skills: Secure, can put up with pressure
Bio: After a wonderful Di Bradini Cup, in which Farfadillis finished second, Rigutti managed to move to Earent's Ousteeble TU and secure a place as a substitute goalkeeper. Rigutti is a very good goalkeeper, who seems unaffected by pressure and is overall secure. What keeps him from taking Lisdiren's starting position is mainly how inferior he's in every respect that isn't handling. However, he's a very good and secure goalkeeper and will perform well if he's needed.

Name: Ârgó Mô
Age: 32
Team: Image Fragardallians Image
Notable Skills: Third choice goalkeeper, so pretty average
Bio: Mô is the third choice goalkeeper, so obviously nobody cares and he's probably here just to be able to watch the matches for free and maybe get some extra training for his performances for Fragardallians. He may or may not get some cake as well.

Defenders

Name: Agundí Frêndê
Age: 28
Team: Image Neuville Scythers Image
Notable Skills: Incredible dribbler and permanent attacker
Bio: If you look up in a dictionary "Farf Side Back", a picture of this guy is what will appear. He's ok defensively, if he ever actually defends, and he joins the attack really well and constantly. He's very good with passing and, more than anything else, dribbling. He's good when he gets to shoot, too, and he has shown to be a good all-around player in all other offensive aspects. He's one of those players you will use only if you really like offensive football, or if it's your only real option, which Rossizzo has concluded. He's one of the very few side backs that can claim that their offensive input outweighs the hazardousness of lacking a defender there. Faró with his speed and Alaminos with his completeness, are expected to patch up the holes he leaves on the defense should he be sent in, though Alaminos is no saint when it comes to joining the attack either. He's been here since the very beginning, and he may have missed out on the starting position for some time, but he's still the third most capped player. His mere presence means that Farfadillis must play attacking football. Whether this is good or bad is up for everybody to judge. He'll forever live in the fans' memories, that's for sure.

Name: Rancisc Faró
Age: 22
Team: Image Red Star Severny Image
Notable Skills: Fast defender, very skilled with the ball and with impeccable reflexes
Bio: Dandalleion's half-brother by his mother side, who seems to take after him in many ways. To start off, he's incredibly fast as well, he's very skilled and he started his carrer with swamp football. After that, many players of the team have claimed that he behaves in a very similar way. Lastly, they both have the same way of running, dribbling, passing and reacting that you can clearly notice is special in some way when you see them. He started his association football career at Northern Sunrise Islands, with Project +90, a youth team from said country, but quickly moving to Melville Celtic, a Polarian Team. He has recently moved to Red Star Severny following Celtic's relegation.

Name: Santos Alaminos
Age: 21
Team: Image Colonial Sile Image
Notable Skills Constant offensive threat, tireless, very good defensively
Bio: Say hello to one of Farfadillis' finest new young talents. Alaminos recently became the first player to win a UICA competition, having won the first edition of the U-19 Champions' Cup. He demonstrated all his talent during the twenty-eighth Di Bradini Cup, where he got a silver medal. Alaminos is a constantly threatening and very skilled player who is capable of coping with pressure easily. He can get long passes to wherever he wants and with incredible precision. Most likely, however, his talent lies in how he will do anything to recover the ball. He's very gifted defensively-speaking as well, but he's tireless when it comes to that, so that's a plus too. His sliding tackles are incredibly precise, as he's got a kind of "vision" for them: he can tell whether he'll get there or not, thus sliding a lot more than usual yet not committing more fouls than anyone else. He's also willing to help the team at his expense, like receiving a red card to stop a goal or passing the ball when facing the goalkeeper to make sure the ball enters the opponent's goal. He just recently showed his other face, however, being incredibly talented at finding holes in the opponent's game and abusing them with precise dribbling and passing, which means he'll take an offensive approach this World Cup. A good way of noticing just how good he is is that he replaced Frêndê in the starting line-up, even though he was one of the "founding" players that had been called up for World Cup 60's qualifyings. Frêndê replaced Wii-Tzaara afterwards

Name: Vrotaoa Wii-Tzaara
Age: 27
Team: Image Nostromo Meteorites Image
Style: Very organized and good defensively, knows how to join the attack but does it relatively conservatively
Bio: Farf by his mother's side and Vilitan by his father's side. Wii-Tzaara is still kind of a foreigner, having yet to step on Farf territory for reasons other than football. He's a very organized player who knows how to join the attack, though he does it conservatively. He's the extra defensive boost Farfadillis needs sometimes. He will most likely be the first substitution made when Farfadillis needs a more defensive approach, which would usually mean a very attacking approach nonetheless.

Name: Leo Fakkotti
Age: 22
Team: Image Avenida Principal Image
Style: Very balanced, knows how to defend and attack and blends both perfectly, can easily put up with pressure
Bio: Fakkotti was, along with Kâí and Alaminos, one of the stars of the show during Farfadillis' run last Di Bradini Cup. He's a very balanced player for a Farf side back as he knows how and when to attack and defend. He's very versatile, as he's ambidextrous, so he's likely to get at least some minutes.

Name: Cleto Mata
Age: 19
Team: Image Gwinevra Barbarians Image
Style: Likes to dribble his way out of the box, excellent defender
Bio: Mata's been playing for Farfadillis since the U-15 team. He was in the first edition of the U-15 World Cup (then called World Championship), where he shone. He joined the Di Bradini Cup runner-up squad, getting enough minutes to show how good he was. Having to compete with Faró was a tough challenge and so he had to be relegated as a substitute. However, Rossizzo did spot him as something special, so he just called him up. He recently signed for Gwinevra Barbarians of Apox, joining Rancisc Tenian there. Mata is known mainly because of how he's an excellent defender, but can also dribble his way out of the box and take the team out of a tight situation. He may not join the attack, but he does serve it on a silver plate.

Midfielders

Name: Yurpá Mêndêlöíndçêl
Age: 23
Team: Image Oyardo FC Image
Notable Skills Very energetic, decent when it comes to technique and superb defensively.
Bio: Yurpá, the second of the four pillars. Farfadillis would be nothing without him, the guy who stops goals, recovers the ball, organizes the team, assists, shoots from long distances flawlessly, runs throughout the match and even heads well. His progress has been astonishing, as he started as a good defensive midfielder, but now he's a key player from every perspective. You could easily drop "defensive" from his position, however, as he's truly offensive as well. His life hasn't been as good as his career, however. He had to abandon his family at Ruland one night to pursure his dreams, and hasn't been able (See: Not his intention) see his father again. He got to meet his family for a few months when he was loaned out to Mâ Âlâmëómë due to a terminal illness his mother suffered, which ended up not being terminal after he managed to provide some treatments. However, he's not managed to see his father again, as he had died the previous year. He's won the heart of Oyardo's fans, having taken them (as some people claim) from a league hopper to an established "big" team there, qualifying for the Globe Cup a few times already. He was recently awarded a place in the ideal XI of the Astograthian League, as well as the silver award for best player of the league, second only to the Vanorian legend Laborious Hawk, which does show just how good Yurpá is. His greatest weakness is probably how difficult to type his name is.

Name: Risko Kâí
Age: 19
Team: Image Urbizania Wanderers Image
Notable Skills: Impeccably fast, very good at dribbling and defending
Bio: After some fantastic performances as a substitute for the U-21 squad last Di Bradini Cup, Risko has gotten nothing less than the starting position in the national team, something not even he expected. He's impeccable with the ball, as well very fast without it, what with being from Ruland and so on. His defending is also very good, and he's not one to cave under pressure either. He recently moved to Urbizania Wanderers, being loaned out to Antiguoko, where he did decently. For the national team he's shown to yield results after the team got a third place in AOCAF Cup 41.

Name: Rancisc Tenian
Age: 25
Team: Image Gwinevra Barbarians Image
Notable Skills: Playmaker, sometimes scores directly from crosses
Bio: Tenian was one of the first Farf players to play abroad. Loved in Apox, he's just returned to the starting line-up, after Rossizzo mistakenly left him out last time. He sometimes scores directly from crosses, regardless of difficulty. At first it was thought that it was just luck, but he's done it so many times now that people know he does it on purpose. He's basically a slower than average midfielder but one with a very good technique for passing and crossing, his dribbling might not be as remarkable, but it's still very good. His marking isn't good but he makes up for it by never deeming the ball as a lost case. He may not sound good on paper, but he's the starter for a reason.

Name: Ikkon Karrka
Age: 21
Team: Image Barbury Town Image
Notable Skills: Aggressive, incredibly skilled, good playmaker, very persistent, incredible long shots, including free kicks
Bio: Ikkon Karkka is part Hujukian, part Farf, though more of the latter than the former. Born in Hujukialand, and having lived there for four years during his childhood, he's inevitably aggressive. Hujukialand is the very definition of a hell-hole, where you're statistically dead before you reach twenty. Karkka is probably the most offensive player of the team, which says a lot. As having been born in a place that plays so offensively and having been brought up in Farfadillis just grants you some kind of mindset for football. His dribbling is impressive and his shots almost unmatched. He can dribble anyone but is usless excrement when it comes to defending; he's the best possible type of player for a team like this.

Name: Ichi Tuzzio
Age: 23
Team: Image Makosile United Image
Notable Skills: Very good at shooting from long distances, excellent dribbler, agile, and good playmaker.
Bio: Say hello to Ichi Tuzzio, the third pillar. Born in Dodeni, Dandillis, swiftly moved to Farfadillis when a scout found out his potential. Tuzzio has been slightly out of form lately, but he's still a beast. His dribbling is impressive, so are his shots and so is his finishing. He's a great shadow striker, as he scores a lot in many different ways. Among them, the most common ones are shots from the edge of the box, one-on-ones, though rebounds and headers aren't that uncommon either. What is most likely the most remarkable of his skills, however, is how he's got an eye for attacking. He's got the dirbbling and the passing for it, but he also can spot any weakness in the opponent's defense in a split second, often leaving Dandalleion all alone or dribbling two defenders to get inside the box. He's been moving around Vilita and Turori for some time, having played in three different teams there already, and is without a doubt one of the most famous players around there.

Name: Armando Elevado
Age: 19
Team: Image Falourr Image
Notable Skills: Very defensive, can play decently offensively
Bio: Elevado is one of the many high quality defensive midfielders Avenida Victoria has managed to form with its youth system. He's a very passionate player, but not one that gets carded every single match. Much to the contrary, he's very clean when recovering the ball and thinks that comitting a foul makes you look as a bad player, unless it's a pretty necessary foul. Armando hasn't got the chance to make his debút yet. He barely played a few matches for Avenida Victoria before moving to Euran team Falourr following some great performances during the Di Bradini Cup in which Farfadillis ended second.

Name: Yülàáê Mî
Age: 20
Team: Image AFC Damaciu Image
Notable Skills: Fast and talented, very high football IQ
Bio: Yülàáê and his brother play almost identically; it's difficult to tell who is who if you don't look at their faces (thank God they're not identical twins!). Their main difference, however, is that Yülàáê is left-footed. Taking this into account, Rossizzo decided to add him to the left flank after moving Dandalleion up to striker position. There's lots of hopes for this young man, and he'd better not disappoint. He's recently been bought along with his brother to AFC Damaciu of Kinitaria. He played as a starter during World Cup 65, but Rossizzo has decided to change tactics a bit and try some other possibilities, specially bringing Risko Kâí to the team. His brother has been left out of the starting position as well.

Name: Gâyö Mî
Age: 20
Team: Image AFC Damaciu Image
Notable Skills: Fast and talented, very high football IQ
Bio: Gâyö's style is the same as Yülàáê, but he's right-footed instead. Due to this, Rossizzo decided to add him to the right flank to replace Tenian, who had been playing badly lately, although he was a very good player for Gwinevra Barbarians in the Apoxian League. Gâyö is particularly renowned for liking to play some tricks on other players when his team is winning by 4-0 or more, but this isn't frequent anyway. He recently lost his place in the starting line-up following Rossizzo deciding to trust Tenian with the position once again.

Name: Alex Terán
Age: 20
Team: Image La Nueva Avenida Image
Notable Skills: Good passing, vision, dribbling and ball-recovery. Very good to tactically. Box-to-box, shadow striker and versatile.
Bio: Terán's a surprise in this roster, just as Fuego. The all-around midfielder who defends La Nueva Avenida's colours seems to have caught the attention of Rossizzo after many man-of-the-match performances last season, in which his team ended as runners-up. He's not a serious guy, often sacrificing duty for fun. He claims to play the game because it's really fun for him, although he admits some games are certainly not fun, but just a lot of pressure. Terán may not have been called up for the Di Bradini Cup runner-up squad, but he probably will be called up next time around, avoiding 22 not by much.

Forwards

Name: Sê Mêrí
Age: 23
Team: Image FC Torshavn Image
Notable Skills: Excellent shooting and crossing, very good dribbling and quite speedy
Bio: Mêrí is one of those dangerous players you have to look out for. He demonstrated he could snatch a starting a position during World Cup 63, when he actually did following a great performance against Yesopalitha. Mêrí has become more of a complete player after moving to FC Torshavn, Polarian team. His great crossing, shooting and dribbling have now been mixed with a good physical state, some passing and more speed, as well as more determination. While many defenders would usually concentrate on stopping Dandalleion, Mêrí makes it impossible as, while he may not be as good as his teammate, he's too good to forget.

Name: Friekder Dandalleion
Age: 24
Team: Image Jungle Strike Image
Notable Skills: Astonishingly Fast, always helps on the offense, a bit on the defense, tends to score goals by outrunning players.
Bio: Dandalleion's story is one of progress followed by progress followed by progress. He started off as a swamp football player with no experience in 11-a-side football beyond having played with his school's team. He surprised everyone during the Swamp Football World Cup and was called for trials for Ferdullaele's squad, which was the best Farf team back then. He surprised everyone, and soon got the starting position. From there, he only climbed, getting to the national team and afterwards becoming an important member of it. Now, he's the fourth pillar, and there's many reasons for that. To begin with, his speed is astonishing. It is to such extent that he participated in Orean during the Olympic Games, getting a gold and a bronze medal, as well as getting to the 200m final. Most likely the fastest footballer around, at least when it comes to official records. His other skills are just as good, however. He's got an eye for the goal. His dribbling, crossing, passing, vision, football IQ and just about every attacking skill are very good as well, though maybe outshone by his speed. But his speed... it just makes him any defender's nightmare. He can also score in many different ways, and can endure 120 minutes matches at full pace, though not without feeling exhausted, obviously. He's one of Jungle Strike's key players, as well as the only Farf player to have gotten to a Champions' Cup final, which Strike lost to Four Bits Irregulars from Wight.

Name: Nazeau Roga
Age: 22
Team: Image Iturributa United Image
Notable Skills: Turned out to be really good, apparently
Bio: Previously a mystery call-up, he's now turned out to be a really good player, following some great performances for Iturributa United, getting the top scorer award of the Iturributan league and even getting to the Globe Cup final. Not a starteer yet, as he's got some great competition, but he's likely to get, at the very least, a decent amount of minutes.

Name: Vasilije Østergård
Age: 22
Team: Image Avenida Victoria Image
Notable Skills: Playmaking striker. Precise shooting from anywhere. Excellent dribbling.
Bio: He's characterized for leaving his teammate attackers with best-case-scenario opportunities. His playmaking is often too much for defenders. He's extremely precise at shooting, often fetching the upper-corners with elegance. His dribbling is much better than average and he tends to administrate it well: just as much dribbling as needed to create an opportunity. Østergård became a starter with Flying Jellyfish a few years ago, almost breaking a record for youngest player to make his first appearance. After this success, he was transferred to Avenida Victoria. Completely settled with Avenida Victoria, might settle soon with the national team. He's shown he's worthy of the opportunities he gets, not having outshone anyone in the team but not having disappointed either. He's a very likely replacement for any of the centre attacking midfielders or the strikers.

Name: Lorenzo Fuego
Age: 20
Team: Image La Nueva Avenida Image
Notable Skills: Extremely Fast, good passing, great finisher, impeccable dribbler, tireless
Bio: Fuego is the other surprise in this roster. His set of skills is the best combination for a striker. He's really fast, he's very good finishing and dribbles perfectly, while not deeming any ball as lost, and being good at passing as well. His performances for La Nueva Avenida have been really good, and there's a lot expectations that the people have for him. As for the Di Bradini Cup, he's in the same position as Terán. Fuego is no doubt a guy with a future, just as his teammate.

Tactics

Farfadillis is known for its extremely attacking style, which consists of constantly looking for the goal and counterattacking whenever the chance arises, if the team even got to defending in the first place.

The goalkeeper is usually very talented, as growing up in Farfadillis as a goalkeeper is a great way of learning to stop shots, which are excessive. It's also one of the most important positions, as this is generally a great leader and an extra security to prevent conceding goals.

The backline is generally not that defending, with a centre back which is the only player almost 100% concentrated on defending. The side backs tend to join the attack. However, this depends on the player. It usually ranges from many times to countless times.

The midfield is very crowded, as a backline of three players allows for it. There's generally a defensive midfielder, which takes care of recovering the ball and distributing it appropriately. The defensive midfielder is generally tireless and shoots very well from long distances. There's then side midfielders, which join the attack and defend a lot. They're the soul of the team in a way, as they're vital for both defending and attacking. They tend to score a lot, as well, as they're pretty good at either shooting, dribbling, passing or two/all of them. There's then two centre attacking midfielders, a notable characteristic of the Farf national team. The two attacking midfielders are terrible defensively, and rarely ever carry out defensive tasks. However, they're talented at wreaking havoc by different means. These two are generally the most important threats of the attack, and the cntre of the Farf attack, which is very flexible as the team can attack through the flanks with the midfielders or the centre with this deadly duo. The centre attacking midfielders tend to be the most talented players, but some strikers are equally are good or better.

Finally, there's the strikers, the icing of the cake. Farf strikers tend to be very agile and deadly when finishing. They're also very good at dribbling and passing, plus they always seem to be at the right time in the right place. There's a great variety of Farf strikers, but there's just two spots available for them. Strikers are usually just another piece of the engine, but they tend to carry out more tasks than other players, such as having to score while having to receive passes from the attacking duo, or heading crosses from the side midfielders. Being a striker for Farfadillis is suitable only for the fittest players.

Due to Farfadillis' pervasive attacking style, very few teams can say they've managed a clean sheet against them after they first qualified for the World Cup, with East Shippensburg, New Gordonopia, Ko-oren and Kinitaria being the only ones capable of achieving that up to now, while Thatius can claim they survived 90 minutes, before conceding in extra time during AOCAF Cup 39's quarterfinals. It's not uncommon for Farfadillis to score more than three goals in a game, too. However, this comes with a huge drawback, which is conceding many goals. It's also not uncommon for Farfadillis to concede around two goals in a match. Farfadillis' style of play has been generally regarded, with just one word, as "exciting".

Stadium

La Fantás (100,000 seats)

Say hello to Farfadillis' still-somewhat-new stadium! Having recently hosted the Champions' Cup's 50th final, it showed to be a great stadium. It's got many, many, many seats, and it's filled with violent Farves, fanatics without any limits willing to shoot each and every one of your nation's fans! Not really, those are just a minority, albeit an incredibly loud one. No, seriously, gun shots are very loud.

Tourist's Handbook:

1) Where is Maklohi Vai and how do I get there?
Maklohi Vai is an island group, comprising an archipelago and a truncated volcanic chain, located in southeast Atlantian Oceania. There are ferries to some other nations in AO, but those are long rides typically unsuitable for tourists. The best way to get to Maklohi Vai is by plane, most likely through Kolo Lahi International Airport. From there, there are connecting flights, roads, ferries, or trains to all other destinations in the country.

2) Will I be able to communicate with the locals?
Maklohi Vai is a bilingual nation, with 98% of the citizenry knowing both Vaian and English. Highly educated people, no matter their field, will typically learn one or two more languages, often an East Asian language (Chinese, Japanese, Korean, etc.) or a major Romance language (French, Spanish, Portuguese, etc.). Those working in cultural and historical fields often learn Siroyese and Samoan as well. If none of these meet your language, there are translators available at all visitor information centers and major tourist destinations.

3) Where can I stay?
There are numerous hotels and smaller hostels in and around every city. The Vaian economy is largely built on tourism, so there’s plenty of options in many places. If you need help, you can contact the National Tourism Bureau.

4) What and where can I eat?
Like hotels, restaurants and cafes are abundant in cities and along highways linking the cities. In the more tourist heavy sections of the country, as well as those more metropolitan areas, cuisine is global, encompassing a number of options from nearly any place you can think of. If you’re looking for a trendy bite, try out a Vaian fusion restaurant, the new kids on the scene. If you’re off the beaten path in other parts of the country, you’re likely to find the local cuisine more frequently. This consists largely of fish and other seafood, tropical fruit, a multitude of spices, and various root vegetables like taro.

5) Are there any religious services available?
Yes, although they may be hard to find. Maklohi Vai is 94% atheist, with the remaining 6% being almost entirely Christian, mainly Mormon and Catholic. As such, it’s not hard to find those places of worship if you’re in a big city. There are a few other Protestant denominational churches in Kolo Lahi and Totai, a mosque in Kolo Lahi, and a synagogue in Wakita.

6) What cultural norms should I observe?
Vaians are very friendly, welcoming people. If they see you looking around lost, they’ll come over and help. If they see you looking very much like a tourist on the street, they’ll wave and say hello, a gesture which you should return. It is considered impolite to not accept an offer of hospitality such as a ride to where you’re going or another offer of assistance. Do not try to pay those who help you, as this is typically embarassing; it is better to give a sincere thanks and a warm handshake.

7) Will I be safe?
There is little to no daylight crime whatsoever, especially not in tourist areas. Likewise, if you’re going to a restaurant or bar and there are a lot of other people around, you will be perfectly safe. If you must be out at night alone, it’s safe on major roads and in the downtowns of cities. The danger lies in the rural parts of the country, off the main roads. There are opportunist theives who are not afraid to strip you of your belongings before letting you go. Murder and violent crime rates are extremely low.

8) What health services are available?
The nationalized healthcare system admits foreign patients free of charge for a one time ER visit. If you enter a hospital, costs are subsidized heavily, but do expect a bill. Amublances run with great speed, as do the police. Dial 444 on any phone to get services.

9) Are there sensitive politics that I should avoid?
If you are not a native of Maklohi Vai or otherwise very well acquainted with its political situation, it is considered bad form to make disparaging remarks against government officials. Mild criticism is acceptable, although not warmly welcomed, and if you voice strong opinions contrary to the present political situation, be prepared for a debate. Vaians love to talk politics and love even more to engage in a intellectual debate about it, especially with someone who doesn’t know what they’re talking about. It is best to not be that person.

10) How is the civil rights situation?
Maklohi Vai is ranked highly internationally for civil rights, and all people are accepted regardless of any preference, with one major exception: religious fundamentalists. The Mormon population in other countries may be known for their prosletyzing, but in Maklohi Vai they stay quiet for a good reason: Over 3/4 of the country identifies as anti-fundamentalist and anti-religious activism. If you hold particularly strong religious beliefs, do not share them out loud, let alone try to persuade others of them. This is a very good way to make a Vaian’s good charm flip to the opposite emotion. Besides this, there is almost no reason to be scared because of who you are.
