Congratulations to Summer Red on winning the Sixth Arhoren Derby Cup, which might very well be the most exciting one so far! The Reds got to a 4-1 lead, when only one win separated them from the overall win, and they let the Yellows get back to 4-4. A win after extra time finally landed the Reds the championship! This is an exceptional feat, now that the Yellows got to the final of the GKC last year!

In the summer, when all other six Greater Ko-orenite leagues end, the Thaulandian League starts. Again with Thaulandians and many players from other nations that look for some extra money through the summer season, it's time for another season.

4 and 14 are still winless, while 8 is lossless. 8 Tower is definitely looking like the early favorite, not even once having conceded a goal. They didn't play against the lowest 5 teams either: opening with two 3-0 wins against 16 and 7 Tower, then two goalless draws against 2 and 4 Tower, and lastly a 4-0 win over 14 Tower. It has to be said though: they didn't play against the other top teams either. And with two 0-0's against teams that are not with the top either, their streak might stick to this and the status of early favorite. 3 and 16 are lagging behind by just one point, too.

The fight at the top and the bottom are still in full swing. 8 Tower recovered their first place after their first loss and another draw, while 16 Tower was leading the table for a match round in the meantime. All teams have won at least two games, which means that 14 Tower, in last place on points (not GD), could go to 6th with one single (albeit well timed) victory.

The first thing that strikes, is that 8 Tower is in first place by an eight point gap. With just 18 games in a season, eight points is a lot, and the rest might not be able to recover. 16, 5 and 3 are currently en route to the Globe Cup, but they are extremely close (with 16 and 5 being exactly the same), and 1 and 2 Tower behind the other three teams by one or even zero points. At the bottom, 14 is more than one victory behind. They need to step it up in order to avoid relegation (with the bottom two teams relegating).

8 Tower wins the league by a 13 point gap! While they looked like only a temporary favorite at the beginning, they finished the league with 13 wins! 5, 1 and 2 Tower go to the Globe Cup with 8 victories each, and 7 Tower will probably feel stolen from as they have 8 victories as well. 16 and 3 also still had some chance to make it to the Globe Cup, being less than 3 points behind. At the bottom, there are two clear losers. 17 and 14 Tower are the only teams below 20 points... actually, the only teams below 23. And then they're far below that, too: 16 and 14. By 7 and 9 points, they relegate to TNL 2.

GKCC - Greater Ko-orenite Champions' Cup

At the end of the season for all eight parts of Greater Ko-oren, there is only one thing left: the GKCC. The eight champions will play each other in a single-elimination tournament here. The champions are:

No surprises with the final eight that went into the playoffs. But that is where the anomalies started: the Sishinova White Diamonds, usually either a finalist or a semi-finalist in the playoffs, are eliminated immediately as regular season champions against no. 8 Westerners. The Giants, as number 2, do advance. The Giants have never won anything in their existence: no regular season championship, no playoff championship. They do, however, always finish in the final eight or even four. A small victory over no. 7 Dominators get them into the second round without too much hope. The Blues, regular season champions of last season and overall champions of the season before, lose it against the Sapphires, another title-less team. Lastly, the Tazers beat the Elves in what might be the first Ka Uin-Aj Uin playoff game, and a hell of a rivalry to boot. The Tazers defend their 4th place (against the 5th placed Elves), and advance to the second round.

The Sapphires do great against the surprising Westerners, winning 86-81 with the highest scoring playoff match until so far. The entire first round has been a parade of low scores, and finally the first team breaks the 80-point mark. As does the losing team. The second semifinal has the Giants winning against the Tazers. The Tazers, as well as the Elves, tend to finish around 4th-5th but never really break through to the end. The Giants are in the finals, which again is a fairly rare thing. They take on the Sapphires, who finished in 6th.

The finals are a pretty one-sided series. The first two games are the Giants absolutely dominating and scoring more than any other team in the playoffs so far (except the Sapphires in the semifinals).The Sapphires hardly get to 60 points, and seem done for after two games and a 2-0 overall standing. In the third game, the Sapphires are somewhat better, but still lose by one point: 77-76. They did a lot better, but did not get the reward they deserved. In the last game, the Sapphires do manage to keep it even, but lose it in OT by 7 points. Overall: 4-0. The Giants completely dominated the Sapphires despite the two last even games, and win their first title ever!

KNU is now completely up there with KCU: they've finished top 4 for the fifth time now, the same amount as KCU. Otherwise, the story for Ko-oren City and the northern region is not as rosy: the southern region has 12 top 4 finishes and hereby has as many as the northern region. The South has about two teams finishing up there per season, which means that the northern domination is over. As far as cities are concerned: Tangku is only 2 behind Ko-oren City.

In the league, there is now a top 6 of teams that can finish in the first 4 to qualify for international fame. Then is a large group that runs all the way to no. 19, of teams that can finish top 10 with a little luck. Then comes 20-28, teams that are apparently doomed to finish with the final 3rd of the league. Lastly there is ArborenU and TCU, two teams that seem forever down there.

And in the fifth season of the KFHL we have another new champion. Vajothl-Alara, from the same state as earlier champions Enkl Hockey Club, takes the title with a comfortable lead. Aj Uin State, in second place, also has a comfortable lead to Mayara HC, but that is all as far as comfortable leads go. Five different champions in five seasons, let's not think that there is an established set of top teams yet. In some regard, Aj Uin deserved the championship due to their superior goal difference, too.

At the bottom, Kolkath MHC did even worse than last season. Finishing in last place with 6 points less than no. 13, instead of a second-to-last place finish. They've got a lot to work on, but at least we have examples like Enkl Hockey Club, who finished dead last during last season, and are back in the top 6 this year.

Same procedure as last season: 108 match conference (12 rounds), then the teams ranked 10th through 5th play the team with the same ranking in the other conference. The top 4 of each conference qualifies for the playoffs, with 1v4 and 2v3. The 4 in the semifinals qualify for the next BCCC. Seeding in BCCC depends on result: final winner is first, final loser is second, least losing team in semifinals is third, worst losing team semifinals is fourth. All series are best of three, except for the final, which is best of 5.

Two relative newcomers in this year's playoffs, the Jeweled Challengers and the Premium Originals. Both faced an incredibly tough opponent right off the bat, and both managed to take it to a third game! Eventually they did lose, but it took longer than most expected. In round two, the conference winners Lava Bearers and Silver Admirals won their games against the Charging Hounds and the Golden Generals, and the Lava Bearers eventually took the title after a simple 3-0 series against the Northwest Conference winner. The Golden Generals, reaching the BCCC semifinals, will be last seed this time as they were easily beaten 2-0 by the Bearers, meaning the season winning team only gave one game away during the playoffs, against said newcomers Jeweled Challengers in round 1.

The Ko-oren Greens have won the league, for the first time. Two years after their city-rivals as well, the Ko-oren Blues. Last champions Vajothl-Alara HC fell down to 8th: another sign that the division of power in this league is still far from settled. In fact, all teams between 7th and 11th have won a championship so far: is it a curse, or is it actually a good thing to win this?
