Hygiene and Water Systems

Make sure your people have hot showers available in the field! Also adjustable for laundry and for hookup to decontamination vehicles!

The NEHS is a single unit made using polypropylene. Assembly relies on snap and hook and slide bars. The material is flexible and inherently bacterial resistant. Standard shower shelters can provide zippered plastic entries or optional polypropylene doors. .The fabric cover is a 14oz (.39 gms) vinyl-coated polyester. Plumbing includes a drain with polypropylene piping for catching of grain water in a side container or which can be attached to a general sewage or plumbing system.

General Summation:
A ROWPU unit is a self contained vehicle mounted water purification system.

How it Works Essentially it pumps water from a source. It is then treated with a beta-alanine polymer intended to initiate coagulation to remove solids from the water. Following this it is subjected to a filtration process and then an ion exchanger. Next it is sent through a last filter process of combined cotton and charcoal. Finally, it is pumped in a reverse osmosis process which results in 90-99% total purification. As part of the storage stage it is treated with chlorine to prevent bacterial buildup.
The tank units can filter between 500 and 7000 liters per day. The standard vehicle mount is the Fox 4x4 Utility Vehicle, but a similar sized vehicle or trailer can be substituted.

The Importance of Clean Water
For soldiers, petroleum workers, aid workers and people in developing nations, clean water for the purposes of medicine, agriculture, drinking water and for personal hygiene purposes is a vital necessity, a matter of life and death potentially. For military personnel in the field, they may have to serve far from any water purification infrastructure. It is therefore vital that they should have the cleanest water available for drinking and bathing purposes.

In the world today, the vast majority of diarrheal disease are attributed to unsafe water and inadequate sanitation and hygiene, and at least 5 billion die each year as a result of diarrheal disease. The World Health Authority (WHA) estimates that 95 percent of these diarrheal cases are preventable through modifications to the environment, including access to safe water. Reducing deaths from waterborne diseases is a major public health goal in developing countries. Simple techniques for treating water at home, such as chlorination, filters, and solar disinfection, and storing it in safe containers could save a huge number of lives each year. However the most effective and efficient way of reducing disease and parasites in water is through reverse osmosis.

History
The process of osmosis through semipermeable membranes was first observed in 1748 by Jean-Antoine Nollet. It was only observed in labs for nearly two centuries, but in the 1950s and 1960s the process was made commercially viable, and desalinization plants sprung up all over the developed world.

In the Allied States of New Edom, a semi-tropical country, the largest proportion of military casualties continued to be disease until the Fabian Corporation’s R&D department partnered with the Department of Defense developed a portable plant that could be driven on a truck. The initial plant was large enough that a two and a half ton vehicle was required, but a small model, driven on a land rover or humvee sized vehicle is now available.

The Process

1. Reverse osmosis is the process of forcing a solvent from a region of high solute concentration through a semipermeable membrane to a region of low solute concentration by applying a pressure in excess of the osmotic pressure. For example in the case of brackish or high saline water, it would be on one side of a thin polymer membrane (a beta alanine polymer of biodegradable plastic made by Green Oceans Technology) with clean water on the other side. Pressure exerted causes the flow of the solvent towards areas of higher concentration.
2. Ion Exchange: ion exchange devices purchased from the Free Republic of Lamoni’s Department of Agriculture are used as part of the composite device to make the water molecules more resistant to undesirable materials such as algae or cysts.
3. A cotton/charcoal filtration process, such as is used in many water filters (including those of fish tanks!) is also used to soften the water.
4. Chlorination. Chlorination is used to kill the bacterial and protozoan processes that can build up during storage. Careful application of this is used to avoid destroying electrolytes and basic nutrients in the water. Regular testing of the water is done following this stage.The standard vehicle mount is the Fox 4x4 Utility Vehicle, but a similar sized vehicle or trailer can be substituted.

Overview

The LT-10 Phorusrhacos is designed as a light tank to provide quick and close infantry support for airborne operations as well as limited amphibious assault actions ( It can ford depths up to three meters). . The LT-10 provides reasonable protection with fast movement and an effective offensive punch that can handle most anything it will encounter. The tank was commissioned from Harold Reichmester of Reichmester Arms Corporation following discussions in the New Edomite Department of Defense of whether to buy or have designed a light tank to support New Edomite airborne and other light infantry operations. The final result was named after the Great Crested Griffon, a Terror Bird native to New Edom, one of New Edom's largest terrestrial predators.


Armament

The Phorusrhacos’ main armament consists of a 90mm High Velocity cannon which is light, compact, with a smooth but short recoil, easy and economical to operate and maintain, and capable of firing a wide range of ammunition, the cannon also comes with a fully stabilised day/night (thermal) gunner sight with a Laser Range Finder and Ballistic Computer for firing on the move and at moving targest, it also includes a fully stabilised panoramic commander sight offering almost hunter-killer capabilities.A co-axial 12.7mm HMG is mounted to the left of the cannon,an ATGM launcher box is mounted on the left side of the turret as well with the capability of firing two missiles instantly with four reloads stowed inside the tank as well.A 12.7mm HMG is mounted in the commander’s cupola to engage air targets as well as provide fire support for infantry operations. The tank also carries smoke dispensers as well as chaff and flare launchers as defensive countermeasures.

Armor

The armor on the Phorusrhacos consists of three layers of materials. The first 10 mm of armor is titanium carbide, which is used for its lightness as well as its resistance to heat, the next layer is 5 mm of aluminum oxide designed to absorb anything that penetrates the first layer, the final 10 mm is made of depleted uranium alloy and is used to defeat any kinetic kill rounds that have made it past the first two layers.For additional protection across the front of the tank, the power plant is placed in the front of the tank to increase crew survivability in the instance the tank is shot in the front.The under armor of the tank is allowed shaped in a V manner to provide higher protection against IEDs as well as anti-vehicle mines. The tank is also designed to protect against nuclear fallout as well as biological and chemical attacks.

LT-11 Mobile Gun System variant, replaces the main cannon with a 105 mm rifled gun

LT-12 ATGM variant, replaces the main cannon with and a six shot Anti-Tank Guided Missile turret with two magazine quickloads available, the two HMGs are also removed, the Ballistic Computer is also removed and replaced with an Advanced Surface Targeting System

LT-13 Mortar Carrier variant, the main cannon is removed and replaced with an auto-loading 120mm mortar, the coaxial HMG is also removed and a system upgrade is added to the Ballistic Computer to compute high angle trajectories.

LT-14 SAM carrier variant- main cannon is removed and replaced with four LRSA missiles with four magazine quickloads, both HMGs are also removed and the Ballistic Computer is replaced with an Advanced Air Targeting System

LT-15 APC variant - the main cannon is removed and the rear of the tank part of the tank is slightly raised to better accommodate 8 soldiers fully equipped, the coaxial HMG is replaced with a 40 mm greande launcher and is moved back into a secondary cupola.


LT-16 IFV variant - main cannon is replaced with a Rapid Fire 30 mm cannon, the back is also slightly expanded to accommodate four fully equipped soldiers

LT-17 Combat Engineering variant - main cannon is removed, and replaced with Mine Clearing Line Charges launcher, launcher has the capability of firing two rockets with up to twenty quickloads available, the coaxial HMG is also removed and a bulldozer blade is attached to the front of the tank.

LT-18 Command and Control variant - The main cannon is removed as well as the Ballistic Computer, the entire interior is replaced with communications equipment, radar tracking equipment as well as a vast array of sensor systems and three workstations for techs to interpret and relay the vast amount of information coming into the vehicle.

LT-19 Reconnaissance variant - the main cannon is removed and replaced with a Rapid Fire 50mm cannon, the depleted uranium layer of armor is also removed and the top speed of the vehicle is increased to 84 km/h. The vehicle also has a suite of advanced sensors installed to detect, locate, track, classify and automatically identify targets under all conditions, day or night. The LT-19 also features the onboard capability to conduct automatic target detection and aided target recognition.

Dear Sir,

We would probably recommend a combat aviation package to you for the purposes you described. Four months ago New Edomites of the 18th Light Troops in a similar role captured the town of Nourselle in the Republic of Hutanjia from rebel forces holding it, did it in record time even though it was meant only to be a diversionary attack. It is an excellent example of what a good helicopter assault can accomplish. Furthermore, the 21st Lancers in the same campaign were able to not only hold off but establish a counter offensive when unexpected rebel forces attempted to surround and overwhelm them on several occasions, in spite of use of enemy MANPADs and AAA. It is however advised that enemies using UAVs, fighters or their own attack helicopters will drastically even the odds and require greater air support. Though I am sure that as a career officer you know this it is my responsibility to inform you.

For the price of 6 bn NSD we would be glad to prepare such a package for you. It would include 60 UH-100s and 40 AH-90s, making it capable of conducting solo operations entirely.
