In other sports the Sportgirls will designate a starting lineup and the same considerations apply.

Postby Callidon » Thu Nov 26, 2009 9:03 pm

[OOC: This is partly reposted from the Baptism of Fire Cup. It's the same roster.]

Kenneth Considine had to wonder what he was getting himself into. As the manager of this motley collection of players, most of whom only graduated from the equivalent of high school, none of whom had more than 23 years of life behind him, he knew the odds would be long. He'd heard rumors about advanced training programs, modern techniques for supplementing players' nutrition, and the like.

He dipped a feather into the small bottle twice, thrice, four times. Finally, he lifted it tentatively and set it to the parchment he'd carried. He would have to declare what organisers called a roster with breakdowns of who played which positions so people would have some clue what Callidon had or didn't have.

Permissions:
If you RP first, you MAY
Choose my goalscorers
Issue yellow cards or red cards
Injure my players
Godmode events such as sleepness nights or hellacious rain. If you RP one of my players raping and pillaging the town, Considine deciding to start his starting forward in goal, etc., make me laugh! Just bear in mind that Callidon is very much past-tech. Think circa 1810. So seeing my players texting or calling people on their mobile phones will get you a gentle reminder not to do that again.

Coach: Kenneth Considine, 47. Herefordshire F.C.
The manager of the team that won the inaugural national championship of Callidon, Considine is pulling double duty as best he can given the circumstances. Fortunately for him, the country's football association will not resume until after Callidon's international football run has finished.
Assistant: Jonah Wilcomb, 55, Royal Callidon
Wilcomb served as manager of the side that lost the final in Callidon's inaugural season. He brings defensive expertise to contrast with Considine's offensive exploits.
Goalkeepers Coach: Ed Fleetwood, 59, Herefordshire F.C.
Guided his team's goalkeepers to the league's best goals conceded per match average. He is known as a patient teacher.
Trainer: Luke Bradley, 42, Royal Callidon
Responsible for keeping his lads fresh for matches, but uses [RL 19th century] medical equipment.

GK 1 Noah Peters, 23, Herefordshire F.C. 6-foot-1, 175 pounds.
Peters has catlike reflexes, but little experience playing angles or guiding a defense.
D 2 George Wenders, 18, Royal Callidon 5-foot-11, 180 pounds.
Rugged defender who plays bigger than his height. In the Callidon national league's inaugural season, he played only 16 of the league's 20 matches due to injuries.
D 3 Trey Dickson, 23, S.C. Hanover 6-foot, 190 pounds. Captain.
The most experienced player on this squad, Dickson played four years in amateur leagues. He has a decent feel for the game, but would be a reserve on most national teams.
4 D Joseph Mathers, 19, Harrisonburg Blues. 5-foot-10, 170 pounds.
Mathers played for the first time since his youth footballing days. Has much to learn about the game, but has the best speed on the team.
5 D Patrick Connors, 17, Dunsinane Dragons. 6-foot-2, 215 pounds.
A rugged defender. Sometimes too aggressive. If a referee is going to book any Callidon player, it's this guy.
6 M Michael Donaldson, 20, Birnam Wood. 5-foot-8, 155 pounds.
A gritty defensive midfielder, often expected to mark the opponent's playmaking midfielder or top scoring forward.
7 D Will Fredericks, 18, Dunsinane, 6-foot-1, 180 pounds.
Fredericks is his team's best defensive player as far as technique is concerned. Speed is a challenge for this lanky right-booted player.
8 D John Calvert, 21, Sporting Britton Cove, 5-foot-9, 160 pounds.
All heart and brain, no brawn or speed. Sums it all up for Calvert.
9 M Reginald Taylor, 22, Brightonburg Castles, 5-foot-11, 170 pounds.
A left-booted player with a dangerous shot, but can get caught napping on defence.
10 M Christopher Wesley, 23, Birnam Wood F.C., 5-foot-6, 130 pounds.
A great distributor of the ball who takes most free kicks and handles most of the corners, Wesley struggles with penalties.
11 M Frank Smith, 21, Kingford S.C., 6-foot-2, 205 pounds.
Right-booted player who can play either wing or serve as backup playmaker, but whose defense leaves much to be desired.
12 M Michael Archer, 22, Argus S.C., 6-foot-3, 210 pounds.
Provides a physical presence in midfield when selected, but has problems with his touch.
14 Timothy Devine, 23, Piedmont F.C., 5-foot-11, 155 pounds.
Strong touch from the right side, but especially deadly when called upon to take penalties.
15 F Colin Gregory, 22, Argus S.C., 6-foot-4, 215 pounds.
Specializes in headers off corner kicks and other highly phyical ways to score. Touch is not his strong suit.
16 F Martin Chambers, 21, Brightonburg, 5-foot-11, 175 pounds.
The flashier of the two starting forwards, he can also serve as playmaking midfielder if the formation calls for it.
17 F Paul Issacs, 20, Royal Callidon, 6-foot, 200 pounds.
The best combination of physical play and athleticism, he'll eventually earn a spot as a starter with the Clippers.
18 GK Kurt Wonders, 22, Sporting Britton Cove, 5-foot-9, 165 pounds.
Flamboyant keeper. occasionally known for straying rather far from his goalline in an effort to start the play.
19 F Ed Norman, 21, Piedmont F.C., 5-foot-11, 160 pounds.
Easily jostled out of position, he is known more for accuracy than hardness of shot.
20 GK Devin Patrick, 16, no team, 5-foot-9, 145 pounds.
Known more for how much food he can put away and stay thin than he is for his football knowledge, but is an all star for his secondary school.

Postby Dancougar » Fri Nov 27, 2009 7:21 pm

The Black Wings have reached their highest KPB ranking ever, 2nd in the world, following a 3rd place finish in World Cup 48. In his four tournaments at the helm, coach Shigeru Takeuchi guided the team to that finish as well as a title, plus the Round of 16 in each. That gave him the leeway to quit on his own terms, as Takeuchi decided that the Franz Braddock path wasn't for him. Instead, he'll enjoy a leisurely retirement. Jericho Leyton, one-time national team captain and current coach of Shuukyuu Kishin, was pegged as the favorite to succeed him. When the Sports Ministry announced that a former midfielder had been handed the position, followers of the team assumed that Leyton would confirm the job shortly. But they were surprised to learn that the man on the sidelines would be 48-year-old Lyle Dylandy, who stands seventh on the all-time Dancougar scoring chart with 25 goals and was one of the anchors of the team that finished third in World Cup 43.

RP PERMISSIONS

Players roleplaying first may choose my goalscorers, hand out yellow and red cards, and report injuries. Do not report injury severity; I'll decide how long they're out. I also request is that you limit the sum of injuries and cards to four, unless your own team suffers more, in which case that becomes the upper bound.

Most Dancougar game reports are fairly realistic except the occasional game where we end up playing a nation of invisible cartoon rabbits. Other than that, I tend to avoid godmods or other nonsense unless there's something about the other nation which makes it too good to pass up. Note that I don't consider things like the occasional own goal, saying which team dominated possession, and personal duels between players throughout the game as godmods. Unless, of course, your permissions say otherwise.

ROSTER

The Black Wings traditionally go through qualifying with a large pool of players, only whittling the number down to 23 for the World Cup or Cup of Harmony. They are given here in a depth chart by position. If no roster is announced before a match, players who RP first are free to pick the starting lineup, bearing in mind that the Wings prefer to play a 3-5-2 or 4-4-2 formation. In exhibitions and matches which have little or no bearing on qualification -- for instance, if the team qualifies with a few games to spare -- the manager will select more players from farther down the chart. Throughout the tournament, this page will be kept as up-to-date as possible with suspensions and injuries, and the 23 players chosen for the finals are marked with an asterisk. Ages are up-to-date as of the finals.

PLAYING STYLE

The team's strategy is not expected to change much under Dylandy, and can be described as an attack-biased +2. The team's strategy is built around a fluid midfield which is able to transition between offense and defense. For example, the midfield in Dancougar's 3-5-2 is normally arranged in a pentagon. Two players serve as defensive central midfielders, two are spread out on the wing, and a single central attacking midfielder leads the formation. This allows the team to commit as many as five players on defense in normal play, or five on attack, or any number of variations in between. Of course, this means that the midfielders are the ones who tire first and are most likely to be substituted late in the game. Possession is also a key -- the team will gladly kick the ball around the back as long as it denies opponents the chance to attack.

Feel free to RP what you like, the more interesting the better. However, before you start injuring too many players or you decide to detonate a bomb in the stadium, or anything like that, please drop a tg. All in all, however, don't do anything you would want done to your own team.

(Aye, I totally posted with the wrong nation. Thanks for catching it, New/Bab~)

National Coach

José Felipe Cassumba Domingos (Candelaria And Marquez)
Former Candelariasian international who stepped down at SuperLiga side Sporting San Marquez to take the Sargossan national coach role after seven trophy laden seasons at the Estadio SIlva.

Assistant Coaches

Ferran Higuera & Vicente García
Cassa's loyal lieutenants in the Sporting dugout follow their boss into the national team set-up.

Starting Eleven
(Formation 4-2-3-1. Style Modifier = +1. Players listed from right to left)

GK: 1. Martin Tejera (24) – Cruzeiro do Sul (Cafundéu) (56 Caps)
This one's a no brainer. A keeper with excellent relaxes and superb distribution who enters a his third qualification campaign firmly installed as the nation’s number one. A fan favourite at Cafundéu club side Cruzeiro do Sul.

RWB: 2. Marcos Díaz García (23) – El din Marbles (Candelaria And Marquez) (61 Caps)
A versatile defender who has been an almost ever present for the national side. Genuinely two footed, Díaz García’s club career has been mostly spent on the left flank but has made the national team right wingback berth his own.
RCB: 5. Néstor González (28) – El din Marbles (Candelaria And Marquez) (58 Caps / 4 Goals) - Captain
Regarded as one of the best defenders to have come out of the archipelago for many a long year. The first Sargossan to make the move to the CMSC and now captain of his club side.
LCB: 6. Christian Viera (22) – Sporting San Marquez (29 Caps)
A product of Ciudad Soluca’s academy who was snapped up for a pittance by Larissan giants Sporting. Key part of their title winning side last season.
LWB: 3. José Blanco (24) – Ciudad Soluca (24 Caps) / 1 Goal)
Part of the same academy side as Viera although Ciudad had the good sense to hang onto this one. Has blossomed under the tutelage of Candelariasian Hane Davis at the ediraf.

DMC: 4. Francisco Lillo (25) – Dynamo Kalinsk (Dancougar) (39 Caps / 1 Goal)
One of a number of Sargossan internationals to benefit from playing D-League football. Lillo may be the carthorse among some of the more thoroughbred members of the squad but he'll get stuck in like a good 'un.
DMC: 12. José Luis Borrás (24) – Sporting San Marquez (0 Caps)
An unsung hero of Sporting's SuperLiga triumph last season. Likes to keep his passing simple and his tackles solid. And he's rather good at it. Formally with Juventudé.

AMRC: 17. Diego Lara (21) – Sporting San Marquez (22 Caps / 6 Goals)
Last season's SuperLiga player of the year was integral to bringing the title back down south after a two year absence. Good passing, excellent technique and a shot like the kick of a mule makes Lara popular with the fans. Admittedly, hitting the winner against Candelaria And Marquez in the Copa Rushmori semi final didn't hurt either.
AMC: 7. Marcos García Fernández (25) – Sporting Kildare (Dancougar) (61 Caps / 8 Goals)
A hugely talented playmaker who almost single footedly kept a poor Jaguarés side in the SuperLiga. Since his move to Dancougar the little midfield maestro has arguably matured into the nation’s finest player. With a range of passing that can unlock any defence and an eye for goal, including a memorable effort against the much vaunted Starblaydis, García Fernández is the man that makes the whole side tick.
AMLC: 10. Alberto Herráez (28) – El din Marbles (Candelaria And Marquez) (33 Caps / 7 Goals)
The third of three Marbles' players in the national team set-up. Naturally a right footer but versatile enough to feature on the left. Has shown an eye for goal during his stint in the CMSC.

SC: 9. Ernesto Fariás (29) – International de Penderia (Cafundéu) (52 Caps / 30 Goals)
The nation's top scorer again provides the greatest goal threat. A regular scorer for International in Cafundéu's top division and one of only two Sargossans to have netted at the World Cup finals.

Reserves
GK: 13. Mariano Ojeda (21) – Dunas Del Sol (11 Caps)
DC: 14. Carlos Candela (23) – Sporting Kildare (Dancougar) (52 Caps) / 1 Goal)
DRC: 15. Alberto Torres (27) – Sporting San Marquez (0 Caps)
DC: 18. Jorge Alberto Carmona (23) – King’s Eleven Yuki City (Dancougar) (12 Caps )
D/DMR: 22. Juan Calderón (28) – Deportivo Cordova (12 Caps)
D/DML: 24. António Olivera (27) – Sporting San Marquez (0 Caps)
DMC: 16. Rafael Balbo (29) – Skyte City (Queer Poco el Mono Ara) (38 Caps)
MLC: 11. Francisco Cuesta (24) – NAPPC (Nethertopia) (8Caps )
MC: 8. Jésus Vazquez (23) – Deportivo Soluca (1 Cap)
AML: 23. Daniel Bravo (26) – El Nacional (7 Caps / 2 Goals)
AMRLC: 25. Marcelo Cobían (27) – Ciudad Soluca (31 Caps / 6 Goals)
AM/FRC: 26. Agapito López Santos (24) – Sporting San Marquez (0 Caps)
SC: 19. Daniel González Rodríguez (24) – NAPPC (Nethertopia) (20 Caps/ 8 Goals)
[b]SC: 21. Rubén Gala (22) – Grandborough FC (Dancougar) (42 Caps / 19 Goals)
SC: 20. Roberto Ordóñez (26) – Sporting San Marquez (0 Caps)

Venues
Friendly matches will likely be spread around the archipelago but most qualification games will be held at our sparkly, Nethertopian designed, 85,000 seater ediraf Arena in Sargossa’s capital, Soluca.

The People's Republic of the Hartland Directors (known internationally as "the Directorate") national team has chosen to run with a 3-4-3 set up. Also listed by the players are their rankings on an A-F scale that will highlight how they did individually in the BoF.

Here is my squad for the Baptism of Fire:

Starters in regular font/Backups in italics.

Centre Forward:
Craig Knight 13: A scored a goal in all but one match he played in really the centerpiece of the team.
Mitch Van Meer 17: N/A did not play
Left Winger:
Sam Sauerbrun 18: B He doesn't quite have the long ball potential but deadly when in close.
Max Werun 19: C Solid backup nothing flashy but fills in when he needs to.
Right Winger:
Jack Rakowski 14: B Was doing well in the tournament till a hairline fracture sidelined him.
Owen Bauman 12: B Showing promise when Rakowski went down, but was exposed in match vs. Voltronica.
Left Side Midfielder:
Trent Lefevour 39: A A rising star on the pitch, has even been offered contracts with International clubs after his meteoric rise in the BoF.
Cameron Smith 34: N/A did not play
Right Side Midfielder:
Michael Kieliszewski 42: B Not the best at his position but is one of the best corner kickers in the world.
Sean McLeary 24: N/A did not play
Left Centre Midfielder:
Alejandro DeSosa 31: D Never stood out in the entire tournament.
Jim Johnson 38: N/A did not play
Right Centre Midfielder:
Kyle Hernandez 30: C plays good defense but has a bit of an enforcer streak that may get him carded.
Paul Camarillo 32: D nothing special saw some action.
Left Centreback:
Ezra Schuman 3: C Solid teammate, really all that can be said.
James Manor 7: N/A did not play
Mid Centreback:
Ricky O'Brien 4: D plays hard but sadly lacking skill hopefully he can be coached up.
Lionel Barett 9: F Horrible team attitude, benched at end of BoF after scoring an own goal.
Right Centreback:
Ken Hernandez 10: C may be moved to mid centreback after Barett's benching.
Omar Hughes 6: N/A did not play
Goalkeeper:
Todd Butler 1: A was the star of their first match, only reason an offensive team had only 3 goals scored on them in group play.
Joshua Brighton 50: N/A did not play.

Style 3 (Soccer in the Directorate tends to be offensive-minded and aggressive as the local variant plays on a smaller field of play then in international competition)

Give out yellow cards to my players Y
Give out red cards to my players Y

Postby Die Bayern » Sat Nov 28, 2009 1:13 pm

Koenig Maximillian XV of Die Bayern sends the following knights to play in the Football World Cup:

(GK) Andreas Waldwarden - Was given his knighthood after his father served Maximillian well as a forester. He is tall, but quick, and will guard our goal.
(RB) Hans Regensburger - Hans is a fierce fighter, deadly with or without a weapon, and bears the scars of many battles. He will protect the right side of the field.
(CB) Sweyn Norder - Pale, fair-haired and blue-eyed. Sweyn came to Maximillian's court after losing favor at the court of the King of the Danes on the northern coasts. With his tall, broad-shouldered frame, he is a powerful man, and will be put to work protecting his end of the field from attack.
(CB) Heinrich Schwartzwalder - The youngest of seveal brothers, Heinrich was given no inheritence and left his home in Wurtemburg to seek his fortune as a knight of King Maximillian's court. He too will guard the middle of the field.
(LB) Thomas Links - Given his nickname because of his lefthandedness, he is sometimes mistrusted at court because of it. However, Vaer Pederson has examined him and found him to be clean of demonic influence, pronouncing his peculiarity a gift from God to allow him to guard the left side of the field.
(RM) "Haesslich" Dieter - Dieter is every bit the figher that Hans Regensburger is, but not quite as lucky. His badly scarred face earned him his second name. He is a surly man, quick to anger, and will play in the middle of the field.
(CM) Matthias von Nurnburg - Matthias is one of Maximillian's kinght commanders. Rumor has it that he is next in line for a noble estate, especially if the World Cup team does well. He will occupy a position near the middle of the field to better coordinate the team.
(LM) Peder von Oberhaus - Peder is a fairly average knight, of middling rank at court. He too will pay in the middle-field.
(RS) Kzar Estling - Little is known about Kzar's history. The dark-haired, brown-eyed man speaks to few, and all that is known is that he entered Maximillian's kingdom from Bohemia, but that was not his home. He is especially fast, and will excell attacking the enemy's field.
(CS) Arne Erichson - Arne is a knight who is more at home in court than on the battlefield. His appearance is always immaculate, his wit is quick and his words are often vicious. He has a very acute sense of honor and personal insult, and is fond issuing challenges to personal combat. His aggression will serve him well in the attack.
(LS) Claus der Loewe - 'the Lion' is one of Maximillian's best fighters, strong, fast and fearless. He will be the most attacking member of the team, and surely inflict woe upon his enemies.

and

Vr. Lukas Pederson - Vater Pederson has been Bishop of Muenchen for 15 years, and is the head of the church in Die Bayern. He will act as a guide for the team, spiritual and otherwise. He is also eager to proselytize and make contact with other catholics throughout the football world.

THE ARCHREGIMANCY BRINGS YOU

THE MONASTIC WORLD CUP 49 SQUAD

First of all, everyone except newbies knows that the Archregimancy is a nation of Eastern Orthodox Christian monks, right? As in Russian/Greek/Serbian/Antiochian etc. Orthodox

This World Cup, the Holy Monastic Republic is going back to basics. You see, the Monastic Football Association has recently noticed - after some 25 World Cups or so - that most other teams are made up of fit young men (or women, or ursines, or miscellaneous other - but usually young). So what if, instead of squads of aging hermits and otherwordly holy men, they enter a squad of seminarians in the their 20s who used to all be professional football players before they entered the Seminary? In a nation of several billion monks, that can't be too hard, can it? Why, they're so young, not only do they not have nicknames, they haven't even been ordained yet - though they have been given a particularly strict coach to keep them in line. Don't want them wandering off the straight and narrow just because they haven't taken holy orders, do we?

COACH -
Fr. Faustus the Strict
The Archregimancy's WC48 captain is a stickler for the rules, and quick to call attention to any misdemeanor on the part of his young charges (or their opponents). Fr. Faustus was once a particularly respected Monastic League referee, and is quite handy with a leather scourge.

GOAL
Seminarian Irenaeus
A genuine former top-level goalkeeper who turned out for the Holy Empire's New Chalcedon side before his encounter with a group of leading Palamite theologians turned his mind to less earthly topics; now quite the dab hand on distinguishing between divine energy and essence.

DEFENCE
Seminarian Stephen
A handy left back, though he refuses to discuss whatever footballing past he may have; currently working on a post-graduate thesis on the Photian schism.

Seminarian Auxentius This surprisingly experienced central defender, a former Philadelphia City trainee, still likes to practice his football in-between studying the roots of the Valentinian heresy.

Seminarian Basil Another former youth trainee - at at least two Imperial Premiership clubs - who has somewhat reluctantly taken a break from his research on the underground iconography of the iconoclastic period.

Seminarian Gregory A right back of unknown footballing provenance, and a proto-hermit who keeps fit by running a marathon a day.

MIDFIELD
Seminarian John
Actually scored the winning goal for St. Mary's City's most recent Imperial Cup victory before a serious long-term injury saw him (temporarily, as it turns out) retire from football; now more interested in the anathemas against the Three Chapters, as promulgated at the Fifth Ecumenical Council.

Seminarian Peter [Cap] Another who refuses to talk about his footballing past, though there's no doubting his skill. There is a certain irony that someone with this name is writing a doctoral thesis on the fallacy of Roman Papal monarchism while also serving as team captain, which is the source of much humour (or what passes for humour in the Archregimancy) among the other members of the team.

Seminarian Irenarchus Much respected for his subtle academic papers on Coptic demonology; another former youth trainee in the Imperial League.

Seminarian Theodore A natural right winger who - unlike many of his teammates - turned down the opportunity to be a trainee as he knew from an early age that his was a monastic path; now an expert on the Synod of Jerusalem's renunciation of Cyril Lucaris.

FORWARDS
Seminarian Sergius
Powerful forward who turned out for a couple of second-division Imperial sides, but never quite broke through to the top flight despite his undoubted skill; some say he was just unlucky with his managers. Since turning to monasticism, has been a keen student of differences between Orthodox and Catholic conceptions of the Mother of God.

Seminarian Nicephorus Another who won't talk about his footballing past - though he's easily the best dead ball specialist on the team, and will be taking most of the direct free kicks. These days he seems somewhat more interested in the origins of the Liturgy of the Presanctified Gifts.

SUBS
GK -
Seminarian Thomas
DEF -
Seminarian Hierotheus
MID -
Seminarian Daniel
Seminarian Chariton
FOR -
Seminarian Socrates

Formation:
The Archregimancy always plays an orthodox 4-4-2; style modifier +0.

Team Icon

The team is always accompanied to matches by the Holy Icon of the Mother of God, Bringer of Victory, which shall be paraded before the team before all home and away qualifiers. The Holy Icon looks like:

Tips for footballing visitors to the Archregimancy:

1) Each home match is preceded by the complete Divine Liturgy of St. John Chrysostom. Rest assured that this should only require visiting teams, fans, and officials to stand for a mere 2 hours before kickoff. Consider yourselves lucky we don't use the Liturgy of St. Basil.

2) We control the nature of reality in the Dreamed Realm. This isn't used to cheat - all normal rules of football are strenuously followed - but it does have two major side effects:
A) Any injuries to either team in Archregimancy home matches are immediately healed.
B) No violent or riotous behaviour by visiting fans will be tolerated. Any such behaviour will find those responsible immediately transported back to ordinary physical reality.

3) Direct travel from ordinary physical reality to the Dreamed Realm is impossible. Some 72 hours before your away qualifier in the Archregimancy, a team of monks shall arrive in your home stadium and construct a portal to the Dreamed Realm. You may then use this to travel to the Archregimancy at your leisure.

4) Up to 2000 visiting fans will be permitted to enter the Archregimancy for each home qualifier; they will be transported directly to the stadium, and may not travel beyond the ground without applying for a permit. Male Orthodox Christian visitors carrying a certificate of baptism, or chrismation, or a letter from their bishop, are exempt from the permit system.

5) Women are not usually permitted into the Archregimancy. Exceptions will be made for visiting players and properly accredited officials - largely because we have to.

6) Formerly, the Archregimancy made a point of being resentful of being forced to permit atheists, communists, freemasons, assorted heretics and foul excelites into the Archregimancy for home qualifiers. These days the Monastic Football Association tries a little harder to welcome all of the above – though largely in the hope that might just possibly be open to conversion through a slightly more conciliatory approach.

HOME GROUND

It's true that the Seminary's ground is a little basic and spartan; visiting fans may wish to bring cushions to sit on as they try to make themselves comfortable on the surrounding hills.

And remember... Monks don't cheat. Please. Not even seminary students who aren't fully ordained monks yet.

OOC: I realise my team might present a role-playing challenge. Rest assured that once they start playing they'll play just like any other team (though they might be a bit more inclined to pray after scoring), so I have no problem with you treating the team like any other if you don't want to deal with the Orthodox Christian element.

In the name of the Archbishop-General of the Province of Canaã Ocidental
We announce the names of the 23 players that compose our football team
Good luck for the ones carrying the name of our nation

(Iglesias, CO) - basic info: The country of Canaã Ocidental is very small, with poor economy and mostly rural. Its people are devoted to the Catholic faith, at least most of them, due to the government. The leader of the country is the Archbishop-General, the new one being Damasco Verón, who took the place of the one before him months ago. The government is a military dictatorship, with the military taking control of the nation after a coup with the assistance of the church, under the deal that the church and military would alternate as leader of the country, although the leader will be always recognized as Archbishop-General. There is a lot of repression, especially against communists and infidels. There isn't much passion for sport in the country, but they believe this team can do well. All players are loyal to the dictatorship, the military and the church. If they weren't, they probably would face severe consequences for being traitors.

Manager: Bishop Gastón Hernández (58) - very orthodox in tactics
Assistant: Colonel Marco Villa (60) - very orthodox with discipline

Goalkeepers

1- Alfredo Latorre (Leones del Capital) - 28 years old, serious and tall
12- Horacio Pellegrino (Cruz Santa) - 33 years old, experienced and humble
22- Christian Lopez (La Revolución) - 20 years old, eccentric and talented

Defenders

2- Francisco Pandolfi (Universidad) - 23 years old, fast and good crosser
3- Diego Mendoza (La Revolución) - 35 years old, team captain and respected star player
4- Fernando Cardetti (Mensajeros Apocalipsis) - 26 years old, extremely religious and reserved
5- Julio Graña (La Revolución) - 30 years old, greedy and unresponsible

13- Mariano Escudero (Leones del Capital) - 22 years old, determined and music lover
14- Fernando Capria (Iglesias) - 25 years old, good passer and tough
15- Hermán Cagna (Iglesias) - 25 years old, brilliant jumper and acrobat
16- Ricardo Latorre (Ponto Sur) - 20 years old, innocent and spoiled

Midfielders

6- Enzo Fonseca (La Revolución) - 28 years old, party-lover and drug addict
7- Martín Ferro (Iglesias) - 31 years old, injury-prone and great marker
8- Pablo Correa (Nueva Nación) - 23 years old, team player and loyal
9- Diego Martínez (La Revolución) - 21 years old, arrogant and technical

Finally here.

Albundania finally witnessed the retiring of a few key players, including keeper Jonathon Carrasco and striker Roy Rankin. Nonetheless, the Blue Crew are looking strong for this attempt. The pitch looks the same, except for new striker Raul Ibanez who is only 16 years of age, but just that good. New keeper Joe Brandt looks like he may just happen to be a God, or at least much better than Carrasco was. The Defense and Midfield are the same, and the team is still headed up by midfielder Justin Carrol. The Blue Crew are coming into this thing as underdogs, but hope to qualify this time around.

(starters are bolded)
Keeper: Joe Brandt (22 Yrs)
Keeper: Martin Kellogg (24 Yrs)
Defender: Lionel Liszeo (32 Yrs)
Defender: Anthony Brammer (34 Yrs)
Defender: Ronald Juan (40 Yrs)
Defender: Michael Brownfield (29 Yrs)

Defender: Andrew Music (34 Yrs)
John Meek (31 Yrs)
Midfielder: Justin Carrol (31 Yrs, Captain)
Midfielder: Jeremy Milne (35 Yrs)
Midfielder: Harry Brit (30 Yrs)

Midfielder: Terry McNalle (31 Yrs)
Midfielder: Jonathon Noble (32 Yrs)
Striker: Joshua Lords (31 Yrs)
Striker: Martin Simpson (28 Yrs)
Striker: Raul Ibanez (16 Yrs)
Striker: Bobby MgGray (33 Yrs)

TEAM VEPHRALL
World Cup 49

(Note: additional information can be found in this post)

* * *

MANAGER
Sartiros Umsaasad will continue in his role of team manager.

His assistants are:
Assistant Manager - Netgorin Ocilla
Forward Coach - Menburid Umsaasad
Midfield Coach - Contrope Shrifflu
Defender Coach - Pasarap Cegeeng
Goalkeeping Coach - Sytrobes Smait

The Auric Wolves (who have now adopted the same nickname as their gridball counterparts) play in a 4-3-3 (+3) formation.

Vephrall's kit for the WC49 campaign (really just a minor update of the WC46 kit):
Image

And now, the players...

(Note on ages: Two RL days are approximately equal to one month in Vephrall. Ages are as of 28 September 1779, or 30 November 2009 IRL.)

Players from WC48 squad no longer present
GK #1 Clinered Sartiros, age 34 — Oillid
GK #2 Uambe Hesaramba, age 35 — Boalluns
D #10 Cetsels Vaphiris, age 33 — Merpisms
D #12 Vaphiris Echeng, age 33 — Bumpoogra
D #20 Cinerne Prarbens, age 34 — Oillid
M #41 Pevonsont Soscren, age 34 — Oillid
M #46 Cetsels Slistols, age 32 — Bumpoogra
F #63 Cese Dotos, age 33 — Merpisms
F #64 Pranasik Gaicass, age 33 — Spoantects
F #66 Rirvymoles Pinteps, age 34 — Huellim
D/M #70 Sanani Taclik, age 35 — Oillid
D/M #71 Edroklis Spesseurs, age 34 — Mylfe

Number changes from previous roster
Due to the VFR's newfound insistence that the national team use a more "traditional" squad numbering system, most of the returning players are wearing different numbers than they wore last time:
Phootid Ferrys: 3 to 25
Claspung Baspaalt: 11 to 3
Pinteps Sarashe: 21 (unchanged)
Cegeeng Echeng: 22 (unchanged)
Shuke Wendelors: 44 to 11
Hesaramba Pipletone: 45 to 16
Ellad Minanad: 52 to 20
Wendelors Lit: 67 to 17
Freprisis Diors: 68 to 18
Smait Pembace: 69 to 19
Yre Solivasas: 72 to 23

(One of Umsaasad's major faults, in the eyes of his detractors, is that he doesn't value experience nearly enough when selecting his national team squad, being instead more apt to go with the current "flavor of the month", as it were.)

The Imperial Han Football Team

The Imperial Han Football Team

大韓帝國蹴球國家代隊表

A few notes for the passing viewer. The Imperial Squad has a storied although nameless history. The Han won BoF23 (WC36) with perhaps the most prestigious alumni in recent history (Candelaria And Marquez, Vephrall, Ad'ihan, Sorthern Northland, Kura-Pelland, etc.). Since then, they've failed to win anything else (we came close in WC46, which ended up a 9 goal thriller that we lost in the dying seconds, literally dying.) But after the events of the Gyeimyo Calamity (which will be at some point explained thoroughly in RP format), the Han are struggling to keep their place internationally. So as an effort to show the same sort of "face" that graced the world, it is to the verdure fields we head to seek eternal fame.

Technical notes - ages are according to years (thank goodness for the Han, who age on the New Year, not on the Birthdate). YOB = year of birth, and ##y is the age in years. Players are shown according to their preferred starting position and should be RPed as such. Any RPs concerning the Han should be done without regard to anything. Please give out cards sparingly, although be creative in your reasons. In a sum, ask me only if you want to kill someone (although chances are that I'll ask you if I want to kill anyone).

Without further ado, the Imperial Football Association of the New Celestial Republic of the Great Han Empire presents to the world the Imperial Football Sqaud Selection for World Cup 49:

Manager: Kim Byeong-Ji (YOB 4674 - 48y) - The star of the WC36 Qualifying team, and one of those players who helped win the BoF way back when, he's come back from Cafundéu, after spending his entire professional career there with various teams, memorably winning accolades along the way (although he probably never achieved the same success as Jeong Ji-Hun has had). In any case, he's sticking his head into the managing arena, particularly as we're not too sure if Lii Chong-sun really wants to come back after what happened the last time around (we lost to Starblaydia in the R16 of WC47 badly, and then our capital gets blasted to smi... smee... smeeth... :eyebrow: ... pieces). Time will only tell if he can get this team of "limbless wonders" to qualify for the World Cup.

Assistant Manager: Pak Yong-Eun (YOB 4670 - 52y) - We picked this guy out from the warehouse of Imperial Shorts and Stockings. He smells like feet, and therefore must know a lot about them. How that helps us with football is another matter.

Staring Line-up:

Playing 3-5-2 (+3)

GK: Yang Gong-Wan (YOB 4690 - 32y) [Imperial Army] - Okay, the one player who can use his hands doesn't have any. Yep, Yang lost his arms in a sick twist of irony (for the team at least) while fighting the Mujeongbu in the mountains of Sacheon Region. And while he has been blest with mental fortitude, there is no way an armless goalkeeper will be able to keep the balls out of the net. Nonetheless, he has been subscribed to a list of Army veterans looking for prosthetic arms, so maybe there is hope yet for him. Until then, anxious fans wait and hope he'll grow another arm.

DR: Seo Jeong-Ho (YOB 4696 - 26y) [Imperial Army] - This man is the fastest man on two hands. Really - we're wondering if we can get an exemption for him, because he's just as fast as some people are with their feet. Unfortunately, we're not sure if he can "kick" a ball, although his head seems to be in the right spot for a low diving header, not to mention scoliosis has deformed his back sufficiently that he could cup the ball on his back for a good stretch before lobbing it over some unassuming character. Or maybe we're just chewing on too many mushrooms.

DL: Yi Gang-Heok (YOB 4688 - 34y) [Imperial Air Force] - Just how do you lose your legs while flying an airplane? Just exactly how?!? Well, apparently, he crashed. Not only is he lucky to be alive, he's also lucky that the Air Force isn't forcing him to pay for his negligence while piloting a new experimental craft. It seems that they're willing to let this man earn his wings back by getting the Han into the World Cup. As if that's really going to work? In any case, Yi Gang-Heok does have some amateur experience (with legs albeit), so maybe it's not a forlorn cause.

DC: Pak Myeong-Gyu (YOB 4693 - 30y) [Imperial Army] - If there was ever one player who didn't lose his arm, leg, anything in war, it would be Pak. Unfortunately, a mishap in surgery (bullet recovery from the scrotum) left him without testicles; as a result, this man is invulnerable to cheap shots. If anything, war has made him stronger. And being rather tall for a Han citizen puts him at an advantage too, either in front of a wall or behind it. So the one player that the Army can contribute is really a step in the right direction. As to his gender... biologically, he's still male.

DMC: Go Song-Ji (YOB 4700 - 22y) [Albrecht FC, CMSC] - The best player by far. Well... the player with the best promise. Among those "Torrealba's tots" youngsters lining for a chance to play, he's just cemented himself on starting line-up at Albrecht FC, and if anything, Torrealba himself knows a thing or two about fielding a bunch of youngsters (of course, you tend to want to play them against other youngsters...). Nonetheless, Go Song-Ji will be the player to watch, as both Torrealba and whoever the heck we decide to place in as chief manager of the Imperial Squad place increasing reliance upon Go as a key midfield player. But as with all players of promise... they're hard to keep.

MR: An Pil-Rip (YOB 4694 - 29y) [Cruzeiro do Sol, CFD] - He started as a young chap with so much promise, and while he hasn't totally faded hopes, he's certainly not getting any younger. Still, as an aged man with the chance to bring the Han back to the World Cup, he'll have the satisfaction of being - for a time - the key playmaker in midfield. Otherwise, he can join Kim Yong-Ji and sell Hyeondae cars in Cafundéu.

ML: Song Ahn-Ji (YOB 4698 - 24y) [Ousevale Borough, O-League] - Apparently, this poor chap escaped the Great Calamity. Good for him, because we know utterly nothing about this guy, except that he's here on this list, and to be frank, we don't see any reason why he should be (other than that he actually has legs). Nonetheless, playing in Krytenia will have no doubt exposed the poor chap to the oddities of Krytenian humour and etiquette (if such a thing can be said to exist - after all, they removed their harlot queen and installed a king the next year after a brief run with a parliament - too much talking apparently). Anyway, Song Ahn-Ji will be in good company as he tries to fit into the mold of good Han players playing well. Maybe.

MC: Pak Yong-Ho (YOB 4694 - 29y) [Atlético Insular, CFD] - Okay, this guy is just here to make the roster look nice and happy. Not to suggest that he's horrible - because he's not. But he's not great either. You've got a somewhat great amateur/mediocre international player playing in our team. And to be frank, he could have stayed in the Han Empire and died (or lost his legs, like so many others) and this roster would be just as fine without him. Regardless, he does have international experience, and he does know how to kick a ball. Hopefully, he'll regain some of that lost technique on the road.

AMC: Kim Ha-Run (YOB 4699 - 23y) [Imperial Army] - There is something with this boy. He's got both his legs, both his arms, and everything else seems to be in place... except his brain. Officially, he has been discharged from the Imperial Armed Forces on account of some mental instability. He attacks anything that's got six legs on sight (so you bug teams need to watch out), and little round things are his favorite things to kick with extreme prejudice. Yet he seems to love llamas, most especially their soft and ever luxurious pelt, for which the Han have in the meantime bought a llama just for him. As for the ball, we hardly needed to train him to kick that sucker as far as he can kick it, as we've learned that he can kick it pretty far. And all in the name of dog biscuits...

ST: Jeong Ji-Hun (YOB 4689 - 33y) [Cafundó do Juta, CFD] - By far, the most recognizable name on the team, and by far the one with the most talent, and if our Imperial scorekeepers were less inclined to procrastinate, we'd know if he was really catching up to Kim Daeeui's long standing leading goal scoring. For a time, the former ace at the former Hangyeong FC was second best to the man now taking up reins at Songstress, but with his career clearly nearing an end, Jeong Jihun is contemplating the successes, which have included some titles with the CFD (notably during Season 15). But with the experience of nearly 10 World Cups behind him, Jeong truly has the wisdom to place a ball wherever he wants to, and still get the job done as if he were a chipping young youth (just don't expect him to last 90 minutes).

FW: Kim Mi-Hyeon (YOB 4696 - 27y) [Albrecht FC, CMSC] - A girl?!? We don't mean to be sexist, but a girl?!? She's not even a good playing girl, and she gets the dips on a starting line-up? Well, to be fair, she's just about the only girl with any notable international experience (that's still alive, mind you), so it's nice to see her come back. Still, her fitness needs improvement, and she's lost playing time with her club. But if the Han are to get back into international football, it's going to be with Kim Mi-Hyeon. Hopefully, she'll pick up a few tips from her mentor.

Reserve:
GK: Oh Seung-Dae (YOB 4695 - 27y) [Imperial Army]

As I have not yet made a domestic league for West Pocono, all these players are available for transfer with the exception of the ones already playing in Newmanistan. West Pocono is a puppet of Newmanistan, if you are not aware. I do not anticipate doing any RP with West Pocono during the WC. Well maybe one, to assure CoH eligibility.

Postby Bears Armed » Tue Dec 01, 2009 12:10 pm

Team: ‘Bears Armed (Mainland)’, alias "The Bear-Belles"...

Please note that this team now represents only the ‘Mainland’ section of Bears Armed rather than the entire country, because the separate Association & League in the ‘Northlands’ section now have their own separate “national” team instead. However as almost all of the former (“unified”) teams’ members and support came from the ‘Mainland’ this team can and does rightfully claim to be the successors of that earlier incarnation of the ‘Bear-Belles’....

Yes, this is still an all-female team. As I’ve explained before, this is because the main ball-game that's traditionally been played in Bears Armed is actually a form of Rugby, but [for several reasons] the professional league for that sport is all-male and so some of the female players decided that switching to Soccer instead — and trying to establish a professional league for that — might be a viable alternative: That professional league was founded shortly after WC44, and so has now been in operation for about seventeen years.

National football organisation: ‘Bears Armed Association for Soccer’ (= ‘BAAS’).
(Chairbear: Urra-Harrlo o Westfells [Chairbear of Wiston Wanderers S.C.])
National anthem: ‘Peace’.

Manager: Arri Thunder (Robert [‘Bob’] Henry Smith, a male Human, aged 62; originally from the Ursine Protectorate of Old Ceorana but now a national of Bears Armed as an adopted member of ‘Clan Gunnar’); very experienced, and good at his job, mainly concentrates on analysing rival teams and selecting this team’s players nowadays.
Chief Coach: Marra SunDaughter (female Ursine, a member of the ‘Sun Clan’; played in BoF31 & WC44, as the usual starter at ‘Left Forward’ and the team’s Captain, scoring a good proportion of the Belles’ goals’, and was also captain of her home team the 'Sun Valley Smashers’, but subsequently had to retire from active play due to a crippling injury to her right leg; involved in coaching her home team since then, and ‘Deputy Chief Coach for the national team during WC45; became Chief Coach for WC46; Soccer experience =10 years as a player, now in her 17th year as a full-time coach; age = 47, left-pawed, fur = golden-brown, good eyesight even by human [rather than Ursine] standards.)

Deputy Coaches _
(Attacking):
Theodelphia Karramarsar (female Ursine, a member of Clan Ostbora; included in the Belles right from their debut in the ‘Baptism of Fire’, but didn’t gain a regular place as a starter until Oxen Cup #10; she played as a Striker, with ‘Right Forward’ as her favoured position, and her home team [for whom she did start regularly] was ‘Urrvan’s Avengers’; Soccer experience = 18 years as a player, now in her 9th year as a coach; age = 48, right-pawed, fur = light brown; Christian [Eastern Orthodox]; good at dealing with the younger players.)

(Defensive): Charra o Barrdenn (female Ursine, from Clan GreenWoods; age = 45; left-pawed, fur = medium brown, noted for her long reach... She was the Belles’ main goalkeeper in BoF31 & WC44, and shared that role in WC45, while spending the domestic Soccer season as main goalkeeper for the 'Barrdenn Barbariennes; She is now the main Coach for the latter team, and has 24 years experience of Soccer as either player or coach.)

(Youth/General): Harrya o Herrchaum (female Ursine, from Clan Herrchaum; age = 48; left-pawed, fur = light brown; Soccer experience = 25 years; She was #24 in the team for B0F31/WC44, as a Striker, and saw action several times as a substitute during those contests, before becoming a starting Midfielder (as #6) for WC45; She would probably have been offered the job of ‘First Deputy Coach’ for the actual 'Bear-Belles', before WC45, if Marra SunDaughter — with whom she’s still friends — hadn’t accepted it; coached the country’s U21 team for DBC9 & DBC10.)

Doctor: Mitzi von und zu Steiffen (female Ursine, from Clan Kettar-Surra; age = 29, left-pawed, fur = light brown.)
Physio: Gerrthra o Barrdenn (female Ursine, from Clan GreenWoods; age = 28, left-pawed, fur = dark brown.)
Routemaster: Major Urrsa o Strongpaw (female Ursine, from Clan March and the Confederal Army’s ‘Quartermaster Staff Corps’; AGE = 39, right-pawed, medium-brown fur that’s cut quite short: in charge of handling all of the squad’s travelling arrangements.)

As far as BA is concerned, World Cups are now happening at 4-year intervals and (from an IC viewpoint) have always done so, which means that for the Bears this tournament is taking place (IC) in 2029- ’30 AD for the qualifiers and (whether or not the Belles themselves get there) in 2031 AD for the actual ‘World Cup’ itself... The ages and experience for the returning players & staff have all been adjusted appropriately for the first year of the qualifiers.
All of the players are actual Ursines (i.e. anthropomorpic, bipedal Bears), except those whom I actually specify as being members of the Harr'aynau people — who are physically human (more-or-less, anyway, although inclined towards heavy builds & hairyness), but spiritually & culturally Ursine instead — in their descriptions here.

Roster
(This roster is only for the actual WC qualifiers, I'll give you a separate one -- shortly -- for the 'Eternal Flame' competiton...)

(#1) Bella DeBruin _ Clan = WestWoods, home team = 'Wiston United', category & usual position = Goalkeeper, Soccer experience = 17 years; age = 31, left-pawed, fur = dark brown. (She made her 'international' debut in the WC47 qualifiers.)
(#14) Marra o Redwood _ Clan = Redwood, home team = ‘Mighty Redwoods’, experience = 15 years; age = 29, left-pawed, medium-brown fur; she has a verry good record at the ‘League’ level. (‘Oxen Cup 12’ was her debut in international football.)
(#30) Karramarsar Darra _ Clan = Ostbora, home team = 'Warriagh Krasny', category & usual position = Goalkeeper, 15 years experience of Soccer; age = 28, right-pawed, fur = light brown, has good eyesight, very nimble; very good record in ''League' play. (She made her 'international' debut in Oxen Cup 12.)

(#2) Jerrane o Grey _ Clan = GreyBear, home team = ‘Kabano Zepelin’ (‘Somewhereistonia’), good all-round Defender/Midfielder, Soccer experience = 16 years; age = 34, right-pawed, fur = ash-blonde, good eyesight. (She entered international football in OC#10.)
(#3) Marraya RedRose _ Clan = RedRose [‘Free Sept’], home team = 'Mighty Redwoods’, category = Defender, preferred position = Right Back, 17 years experience of Soccer; age = 28, left-pawed, fur = medium brown with reddish tint; relatively small, but strong and quite fast. (She entered international football in DBC9.)
(#15) Grendra o Herrchaum _ Clan = Herrchaum, home team = ‘Metalurgs’ (‘Somewhereistonia’), Soccer experience = 17 years; age = 30, left-pawed, fur = light brown, surprisingly fast on her feet for her size. (‘Oxen Cup 12’ was her debut in international football.)
(#16) Urradorra o Barrdenn _ Clan = GreenWoods, home team = Barrdenn Barbariennes, experience = 12 years; age = 27, left-pawed, fur = dark-medium brown & moderately long. (‘Oxen Cup 12’ was her debut in international football.)
(#32) Harroya ‘Cub’ o Redwood _ Clan = Redwood, home team = 'Kingly City', category = Defender, usual position = Left Back, 19 years experience of Soccer; age = 28, left-pawed, fur = medium brown; big, strong, and quite fast. (She made her ‘international’ debut in Oxen Cup 11, but wasn’t then selected for a World Cup squad until WC48...)

(#4) Urra ‘Honey’ SunBlessed _ Clan = Sun, home team = ‘Sun Valley Smashers’, category = Midfielder/Defender, usual position = Defensive Centre, Soccer experience = 24 years, and she has been in the national team since BoF31; age = 41 (but still seems ‘young’…), right-pawed, fur = ‘honey-brown’, very good eyesight even by human (rather than Ursine) standards. She is a very accurate kicker, and therefore the usual first choice for taking free kicks & penalties; her nickname comes from her fur-colour, her very sweet nature, and (it must be admitted) the fact that she's a bit ‘thick’.
(#17) Elga ‘the Leopardess’ Lightning _ Clan = Gunnar, home team = ‘PassPort Athletic’, category = Midfielder/Forward, preferred position = Midfield Centre or Midfield Right or Right Forward, default position here = Midfield Centre; Soccer experience = 18 years; age = 29, right-pawed, fur = light brown; very keen eyesight, not as heavily built as most other Ursines, very agile & quite fast on her feet. (She entered international football in DBC9.)
(#31) Ilssa RiverFarer _ Clan Zurrarr Hau; home team = Heroes’ Park Harlequins & ‘Torhampton Gulls’ (Eastern Volleyball), category = Defender/Midfielder (preferably Centre Back, ‘Defensive Centre’, or Centre Half, but versatile…), experience = 13 years; female Harr’aynau humanoid, age = 29, ginger hair, left-footed. (‘Oxen Cup 12’ was her debut in international football.)
(#33) Sunnarra o Redwood _ Clan = Redwood, home team = 'Heroes' park Harlequins, category = Defender/Midfielder, usual position = Centre Back/Defensive Centre/Centre Half, 13 years experience of Soccer; age = 25, right-pawed, fur = light brown; quite fast; has a degree in Military Science. (She made her ‘international’ debut in Oxen Cup 11, but wasn’t then selected for a World Cup squad until WC48...)

(#5) Erra RiverFarer _ Clan = Zurrarr Parram, home team = 'LakePort Lionesses’, category =Midfielder, usual position = any Midfield, 12 years experience of Soccer; female Harr’aynau humanoid; age = 22, ambidextrous, hair = deep red; a cousin of ‘Marra RiverFarer’, who has played in previous versions of the national team as a goalkeeper. (She made her international debut in football in the qualifiers for WC47.)
(#6) Marwerna ar Gerran _ Clan = Arttorran, home team = ‘Stoedtcanal CU’ (‘Nethertopia’ ), category = Midfielder, usual position = Midifeld Right, 17 years experience of Soccer; age = 29, right-pawed, fur = light brown; not as heavily built as most other Ursines, very fast on her feet, has good eyesight. (She entered international football in DBC9.)
(#20) Jiehra WestWalker _ WestWalker Sept, home team = ‘Free City Furies’ & ‘Balan FC’ (Mantwenic), category = Midfielder (flexible about actual position), experience = 9 years; female Harr’aynau humanoid, age = 24, dark red hair, left-footed; identical twin of #21, with whom she shares a rapport that makes them especially effective. (‘Oxen Cup 12’ was her debut in international football.)
(#21) Irrala WestWalker _ WestWalker Sept, home team = ‘Free City Furies’ & ‘Balan FC’ (Mantwenic), category = Midfielder (flexible about actual position), experience = 9 years; female Harr’aynau humanoid, age = 24, dark red hair, left-footed identical twin of #20, with whom she shares a rapport that makes them especially effective. (‘Oxen Cup 12’ was her debut in international football.)
(#34) Irritti Redwood _ Clan = Redwood, home team = ' River City', category = [Defensive] Midfielder, usual position = (any) Midfield Centre, 14 years experience of Soccer; age = 25, left-pawed, fur = medium brown. (She made her ‘international’ debut in Oxen Cup 11, but wasn’t then selected for the World Cup squad until WC48...)
(#35) Marra-Harroya o Herrchaum _ Clan = Herrchaum, home team = 'Wiston United', category = Midfielder, usual position = Midfield Left, 12 years experience of Soccer; age = 24, left-pawed, fur = light brown with a greyish tinge. [I](She made her ‘international’ debut in Oxen Cup 11, but wasn’t then selected for the World Cup squad until WC48...)

(#7) Marrana-Harrla Lightning _ Clan = Gunnar, home team = ‘FC DePardenti’ (‘Nethertopia’), category = Forward, usual starting position = Centre Forward, Soccer experience = 12 years professional, following another 3 years semi-professional experience; age = 30, right-pawed, fur = light brown, twin (non-identical) of #11 with whom she’s used to working…
(#10) Harroya ‘of the Rovers’ o Redwood _ Clan = Redwood, home team = Merlchester Rovers, category = Striker, usual position = Centre Forward, the team’s CAPTAIN, Soccer experience = 26 years (She has been with the Belles from the start, and their captain since WC45); age = 42, left-pawed, fur = light brown; she will NOT break the rules (not even at the 'yellow card' level), managing to be an "attacking" player without being an "aggressive" one... Good at setting up goals for her team-mates, but only seems to score them herself when the team really NEEDS those goals; still very fit and quite fast. (British players of reasonable age may be able to recognise the [male, human, fictional] inspiration for this character...)(She resigned, not only from the captaincy but from the team itself, after MD14.)
(#11) Harrla-Marrana Thunder _ Clan = Gunnar, home team = ‘FC DePardenti’ (‘Nethertopia’), category = Forward, usual starting position = Centre Forward, Soccer experience = 12 years professional, following another 3 years semi-professional experience; age = 30, left-pawed, fur = dark brown, twin (non-identical) of #7 with whom she’s used to working…
(#23) Urrsa SunBlesséd _ Clan = Sun, home team = ‘Sun Valley Smashers’, category = Forward, usual position = Centre Forward or Right Forward, 13 years experience of Soccer; age = 23, right-pawed, fur = ‘wheaten’; very good eyesight, and accuracy at long ranges as well as shorter ones. (‘Oxen Cup 12’ was her debut in international football.)
(#24) Harraya WesterBear _ Clan = WestWoods, home team = ‘Wiston United’, category = Forward, usual position = Right Forward, experience = 14 years; age = 28, right-pawed, medium-brown fur. (‘Oxen Cup 12’ was her debut in international football.)

(She made her ‘international’ debut in Oxen Cup 11, but wasn’t then selected for the World Cup squad until WC48...)

(#12) Sarrla o Jherrantor _ Clan = Jherran Habbar, home team = 'Kingly City’, category = Winger/Midfielder, usual position = Left Winger, 11 years experience of Soccer; age = 24, left-pawed, fur = ginger; rather small, but very talented (“kid genius) with a double-honours degree in ‘Philosophy & Metaphysics’. (She entered international football in DBC #10.)
(#13) Karrtla Redwood _ Clan = Redwood, home team = ‘Mighty Redwoods’, category = Winger, usual position = Right Winger, 14 years experience of Soccer; age = 24, right-pawed, fur = golden-brown, has good eyesight. (She entered international football in DBC9.)
(#26) Roh’hsarra EastWalker _ Clan = WildWoods, home team = ‘Wahrriagh Krasny’ & ‘Torhampton Gulls’ (Eastern Volleyball), category = Winger/Striker (preferably deployed on the right), experience = 10 years; female Harr’aynau humanoid, age =26, ginger hair, right-footed. (‘Oxen Cup 12’ was her debut in international football.)
(#27) Irryane Porravtso _ Clan = Ostbora, home team = ‘OstPort Dynamo’ & ‘Anbridge Town’ (Eastern Volleyball), category = (Attacking) Midfielder/Winger (preferably deployed on the left), experience = 9 years; female Harr’aynau humanoid, age = 25, red-brown hair, right-footed. (‘Oxen Cup 12’ was her debut in international football.)
(#37) Jerranaya SunChild _ Clan = Sun, home team = 'Sun Valley Smashers', category = Forward or Winger, usual position = Left Forward or Left Winger, 9 years experience of Soccer; age = 20, right-pawed, fur = golden-brown, has very good eyesight, big for her age and very fast, "a natural talent". (‘Oxen Cup 12’ was her debut in international football.)

Style: Offensive, modifier = +2.5… "A good offence is the best defence"...
Their usual formation will include a front row of at least 5 (normally as 3 strikers & 2 wingers), with 2 midfielders, 2 backs, and either a ‘Defensive Centre’ (whose starting position would be at the midpoint of an imaginary cross drawn between those other four non-forwards’ positions) or a third midfielder depending on the Manager’s decision before each match.

Usual starters = #1-7, 10 (aginst our four highest-ranked rivals for qualification) or 23 (against the four lowest-ranked rivals, and in friendlies), 11-13;
Usual substitutes = #10 or 23 (see above) for qualifiers or 25 (for friendlies), 14, 15, 17, 20, 21, 26.

Opponents may _

Choose my goalscorers: Y (but the Strikers, and then the Wingers, are likeliest to fill this role...)
Godmod Scoring Events: Y

RP injuries to my players / Godmod injuries to my players / Hand out Yellow cards to my players / Hand out Red cards to my players: Y to all, at least to start with, but remember what I've written here and keep it in limits accordingly... Any serious offences by my players would probably result in injuries to your players, and causing any serious injuries to my players would probably require such obviously-deliberate attacks that your players would get yellow or even red cards as a result too. Don’t kill anybody, or inflict injuries that would be serious enough to end careers, without checking with me & getting my approval (which is unlikely to be granted…) first.

Godmod Other Events: Y, I suppose, at least as long as you do so in an AMUSING way... but please remember that Ursines are fully sapient beings, as much as Humans are, not instinct-driven animals. Oh, and of course female Ursines are not sexually interested in Humans (of either sex), and it's very unlikely that female Harr'ayanau would be either. Please don't have them run amok or outright revert to animality, without checking by TG first, don't make assumptions about their views on politics or religion, and don't do anything that would make more than one of them incapable of playing in their next game...

______________________________________________________

Kit: This incarnation of the team is the second squad to wear the modified designs that ‘ediraf’ produced _ See [url][/url] for details.
Bears Armed has traditionally used base-8 arithmetic, for several reasons, (so the sequence used here will be: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 20, 21, etc...), and the number “22” has deliberately been left unassigned out of respect for its first [& only] wearer who died a heroine’s death during the year immediately following WC444…

Home ground = 'Plumtrees Park', at Council Groves (our capital city). Its current capacity is approximately 40'000 for Ursines: Fitting about 30’000 humans into the visiting fans' half should be possible, and so that's as many as we'll let into the country. Accommodation for visiting teams & their staffs will be provided in the 'Hotel Exodus', about a mile away, which is used to housing Human visitors. Accommodation (at a fairly basic level) for up to 15’000 supporters will be available, at reasonable prices, in students' residences for the adjacent National University: if more foreigners than that want to attend any particular game then there’s limited hotel space available — say 2’000 to 2’500 places — but otherwise they’ll have to borrow space in the nearby Army camp instead...
There are still no direct inter-regional flights into Council Groves, so that visitors will have to travel by way of one of our neighbours and then continue onwards by one of the limited number of "local" air-flights or by rail. (People planning to arrive by rail will still have to travel via the nation of Mikitivity, but extra services will be organised on that route...)

NOTES

Ursines may tend to be a bit less agile & slower to accelerate than humans on average, but this team's members were carefully selected so the gap between them & their opponents in this respect should be narrower than some people might expect. They do tend to have slightly poorer eyesight than humans, on the whole (although the members of both Clan Gunnar and the Sun Clan are generally an exception to this rule, and the eyesight of the latter group is actually often at better-than-human levels instead), so long-distance passes & shots at goal will tend to be rarer behaviour for them than they are for human teams... but their typical size & strength mean that when they're running with the ball it will probably take a very brave human -- as well as a very skilled one -- to tackle them successfully, which should balance that factor pretty well. They don’t jump very well, but then they’re generally rather taller than most Human players to start with.
They're physically robust, of course, which means that they're much less likely than humans to suffer injuries in falls or collisions. They’ve been playing Soccer rather than Rugby for long enough that there should no longer be any risk of any of them (No, not even ‘Honey’...) forgetting about the differences between these two games’ rules. The females of this species are more even-tempered than the males, and the team's members will try to stay on their best behaviour not only in order to do well in this contest but also to impress upon the watching humans that Ursines aren't just "dumb beasts". They will not 'dive', or feign injury in other ways, because suggesting that they could be harmed so easily goes strongly against the grain.
Cold weather should pose no problem to them, even if there's snow or ice on the pitch, but tropical heat might prove awkward...

Unless our hosts at the match in question object, this team's members (including the designated substitutes for the match in question) will perform a [fairly short] ritual that's called the [url=http://forums.joltonline.com/showpost.php?p=14300633&postcount=34 'harrdiharr'[/url] on the pitch just before play begins... This is a traditional war-dance, meant to over-awe opponents, that has come to be a customary prelude for team games as well (similar to the [RL] New Zealanders' 'haka'...). : )
As has now been seen during various tournaments, some of our fans like to take drums — and possibly cow-horns, or other "musical instruments", too — along to the matches...

‘Orville’

This incarnation of the Belles still has the same mascot that the former “national” team took to their final match in WC46, the U21 team to DBC10, the former “national” team to all of their matches in WC47, and the ‘Mainland’ team to some of their matches in Oxen Cup 12 and all of their matches in WC48..
‘Orville’ is a (non-sapient) flightless bird, a "bear-tall” male from the 'DoomDuck' species, who was presented to the BAAS' by the government of fellow Ursine nation The Bear Islands. He basically has forest-green feathers on his “upper” surfaces and pale yellow feathers on his “lower” ones, with some scarlet trimming. Although not particularly intelligent, he has been trained to walk on a leash – well, actually, on a set of four leashes each of which is held by a separate (and fairly hefty) Ursine who is walking along at one of four points spaced evenly around him — and even to “dance” in time with some simple tunes! He’s reasonably well-behaved, as least as long as he’s kept well-fed.

(The above mascot was sacrificed to Margaret, in the hope that this would end the serious ill-luck that that had been [intermittently] affecting the team, in between their fifth and sixth qualifiers: He has been replaced, but the new mascot's details have not yet been made public...)

The Confrederated Clans (and other Confrederated Bodys) of the Free Bears of Bears Armed
(includes The Ursine NorthLands) Demonym = Bear[s]; adjective = ‘Urrsish’.
Population = just under 20 million. Economy = only Thriving. Average Life expectancy = c.60 years. If the nation is classified as 'Anarchy' there still is a [strictly limited] national government... and those aren't "biker gangs", they're traditional cross-Clan 'Warrior Societies', generally respected rather than feared.
