IronHope Pte Ltd is a Springmont manufacturer of bus bodies founded in late 2002 after buying the assets of defunct bus builder Vota Bus who closed down in the summer of that year. It is a subsidiary of the General Chassis Defense Ltd.

The manufacturer owns the trademark rights of the brands SC™, Cityrama™ and Otha™. Some models are assembled under the dual brand name Otha-GCD™.

Recently, IronHope Ltd has signed a strategic partnership agreement with Umbrella Bus Specialist for the construction of Apron-Bus technology used in airports. UMBRELLA Airport Equipment Ltd. (UMBRELLA) is a professional design & manufacturing enterprise of Airport Apron Bus and other Ground Support Equipment

The GCD has 30+ years experience in designing vehicle systems and armament stations. The CAD software program, NANTUS™, allows the designers to view their models in three-dimensional solid models for visualization of components for “design-for-manufacturing”.

Integrated into the NANTUS software program is a tool called NANTUS-Spark™. The NANTUS-Spark™ tool will analyze the parts/assemblies for areas of heavy stress, buckling, and fatigue prior to manufacturing the part. All engineering design is managed through an integrated configuration management system, CALAHOR, to ensure proper revision control.

Our GCD Engineers have strong skills in all aspects of vehicle design including mobility, maneuverability, survivability and armor design, maintainability, capability, and body design while ensuring system commonality. Among the assets acquired was the trademark rights of the Brands Sparta, Cityrama and Otha.

It was unfortunate that when we know that Otha Model R8000 similar in appearance to the VLT C5 bus.

As R8000 Otha no longer manufactured on a large scale. IronHope company decided not sold Otha Model R8000 on the market, with immediate effect.

Do bear in mind that the average city bus, a Mercedes Citaro or MAN Lion's City, already cost over $300,000 nowadays. One interesting source is http://www.bustocoach.com/en/content/vehicles-italy which lists all Italian prices in Euro, and of course a lot of other specifications that might come in handy.)

Our entire range of engines is built from proven core technology that's been continuously refined and improved so that those engines deliver better performance, every day and every route. This includes our proprietary CNG-VTVV™ Turbocharger and an Integrated Exhaust Gas Systems (IEGS™) cooler that's been upgraded for enhanced reliability.

All Apex™ transit bus engines meet EPA 2010 emissions standards. We've utilized our fully integrated technology to simultaneously improve fuel economy and performance, lowering operating costs as we lower emissions to near-zero levels.
Apex™ is the only engine manufacturer to design, develop, manufacture and support nearly every component from the air intake to the exhaust aftertreatment in a totally integrated system. This allows us to optimize critical systems and deliver the right technology in a way that other manufacturers using outside suppliers simply can't match. Current bus engine models include:

• Apex™ AL Series - Ratings range from 280-330 hp with a maximum 1100 lb-ft of torque (Transit & Shuttle Buses). This engine can also be used to power hybrid diesel/electic buses.

• Apex AL-Benz™- Ratings range from 260-350hp with a maximum 1000 lb-ft of torque (School Buses).

• Trouve™ 98/ 48- Ratings range from 200-325 hp and a maximum 750 lb-ft of peak torque (School Buses). This engine can also be used to power hybrid diesel/electric buses.

Our diesel engines for 2010 have added Careful Catalytic Cutback (3C™) to the Apex™ After treatment System. This change has allowed us to reduce the amount of cooled (IEGS™) into the power cylinder, and recalibrate our diesels so they are more responsive to throttle input with equal or better fuel economy than previous models.

Otha GCD Unicorn 10 Prison Bus

Handling
The Prison Bus performs much better than the Bus due to its shorter wheelbase and lighter construction. It has moderately good suspension and steering for a vehicle of its class, but given it is an armored vehicle it suffers from poor acceleration, although it can achieve considerably good top speeds. Its still heavy weight also allows for the ability to push aside smaller vehicles with ease. Also the Prison Bus is 4WD, which makes it a good performer off-road and on rough uneven terrain.

The monocoque hull of the Unicorn 10 is of all welded steel armour construction that provides the occupants with protection from 7.62 × 51 mm ball small arms fire and shell splinters.

The underside of the hull has been specifically designed to provide a high level of protection against mines. Appliqué armour can be fitted to provide a higher level of protection. Bullet/splinter proof windows are fitted as standard for all round situational awareness.
