Branding, does nothing, etc. And, of course, I strenuously object to this "join in hands" thing. Hands. Ha. Don't talk to me about hands....

Did I see them? Yes. Two of them, at least. But no, I didn't save their text.
If you claim to be religious but don’t control your tongue, you are fooling yourself, and your religion is worthless. Pure and genuine religion in the sight of God the Father means caring for orphans and widows in their distress and refusing to let the world corrupt you. | Not everyone who calls out to me, ‘Lord! Lord!’ will enter the Kingdom of Heaven. Only those who actually do the will of my Father in heaven will enter. On judgment day many will say to me, ‘Lord! Lord! We prophesied in your name and cast out demons in your name and performed many miracles in your name.’ But I will reply, ‘I never knew you. Get away from me, you who break God’s laws.’

Repeal "Minimum Standard of Living Act"

A resolution to repeal previously passed legislation.

Category: Repeal

Resolution: GA#344

Proposed by: The Kingdom of the Order of 33rd Degrees

Description: WA General Assembly Resolution #344: Minimum Standard of Living Act (Category: Social Justice; Strength: Strong) shall be struck out and rendered null and void.

Argument: Dissension and Repeal of the Minimum Standard of Living Act - a speech by the Ambassador of The Allied States of The Kingdom of the Order of 33rd Degrees.

Recognizing that sweeping, strong language shall Not delegate what every WA member nation should and should not do for each of their millions or billions of citizens.

Recognizing that large strong nations should not force smaller, developing nations, to comply with resolutions that will negatively effect the economy. Thereby negatively effecting their citizens beyond a bearable amount.

Believing that there is no need for the government to monitor and require citizens to provide information on their lives to determine who gets aid and who doesn't as this law requires.

The Minimum Standard of Living Act has driven down economies around the world. There are no definitions for specific requirements and there are also many underlying duties that must be enacted by the governments to be in full compliance.

Although there is a need to help those citizens who are handicapped or unable to provide for themselves, there is no need to catalog all citizens in order to determine if they meet the requirements for the "Minimum Standard of Living". The direct result of the weaker economy after this resolution is actually worse for the people than it seems.

The Commonwealth of Railana, the creator the bill, has said in their own fact book entry "Statement on Compliance with General Assembly Resolutions" that they will not even comply with certain international laws "obligation to resist unjust laws is greater than our general duty to respect the will of the international community." To build on this concept, there are many rogue, and totalitarian states that no mater what resolution is passed will not comply. The Minimum Standard of Living Act, while conceptually is just, is an unfair, broad, negative, and controlling Policy.

Under this logic I and other nations Demand the immediate repeal of this law.

Specifics within this Act such as guaranteed minimum income, and a living wage cannot be included due to the simple fact that every industry is different and each job requires varying amounts of skills. Broad regulations like this discourage education, a strong work ethic, and motivation to provide by their own merit.

The exemption A can never be determined without the establishment of questionable law enforcement groups. Exemption C allows people to easily circumvent exemption by continually exercising ways to maintain their aid as stated in paragraph C of #4.

There are many other broad items that need to be specified, removed, or changed indefinitely. Nations who have complied with this regulation have been effected negatively. And other large or rogue nations have no problem because they either do not comply or have large enough economies to sustain such regulation.

Although there is a "opt-out" clause in section 5, this does does not out weight the implications of having such regulation in place. Nor does it clearly define how a nation is able to exercise this clause.

We, The Kingdom of the Order of 33rd Degrees have received many telegrams from nations who agreed with our first comments of dissension. After the repeal of the Minimum Standard of Living Act we should first begin a discussion on what we the WA should do about this issue of citizens who cannot provide for themselves.

The WA should enact specific definitions for each requirement in this type of law as well as lower it's strength.

Approvals: 3 (Vancouvia, Al darub, FreeAmerica)

Status: Lacking Support (requires 72 more approvals)

Voting Ends: in 3 days

Branding, references to real-life gameplay, awful grammar, no actual repeal clause, and not even posted on the forum. Wonderful.

On top of that, he calls it a "speech", and dictates that this not only could damage economies, but is doing so. For Christ's sake, it's only been a day. The multiverse isn't going to collapse in a day.

Repeal "Minimum Standard of Living Act"
A resolution to repeal previously passed legislation.

Category: Repeal
Resolution: GA#344
Proposed by: Republic of Silicon Valley

Description: WA General Assembly Resolution #344: Minimum Standard of Living Act (Category: Social Justice; Strength: Strong) shall be struck out and rendered null and void.

Argument: Displeased that the WA let this resolution pass.

Hoping that the WA will repeal this resolution.

Finding it unnecessary that the WA attracts this "problem" as it is a national problem and nations should be able to independently choose if they want to solve it or not.

But it shoes the crux of the binary relax/tighten mechanism:
For some nations this'll probably tighten gun control (mandatory background checks, only hunting rifles)
for others it'll relax gun control (there are, I believe, nations where no citizen is allowed to own a firearm, unless they're a member of the military or police force or ... )
