Legalize LGBTQ Marriage
ID:vardona_1439482988
Category: Human Rights Strength: Strong Proposed by: Vardona

Description: Members of the World Assembly, it is time to rise up and defeat discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender. Our first step is to legalize same-sex marriage for LGBTQ citizens.

RECOGNIZING that religious freedoms are important to the civil rights of each individual.

APPALLED that individuals of a religion antagonize a specific group of people, yet those same people discriminated against affiliate with the religious faith.

IMPLORING member nations to take a step forward and acknowledge that the right to marry should be granted to all citizens regardless of sexual orientation or gender.

REALIZING that it is not against religious freedoms if a LGBTQ member of a religious faith seeks marriage in his/her place of worship, only an increase of freedom.

HEREBY legalizes same-sex marriage in all World Assembly member nations, for the betterment of society.

It is currently up as a proposal on the General Assembly. It is not that I necessarily disagree, but it seems like it would be illegal to me, as its basically making the World Assembly a "World Government" by telling member states how their marriage laws should be written. It also is poorly written, in my opinion, but that is beside the fact.

The WA already does this. Read GAR #128 and #286, which are only two of many dreadful resolutions that are based on the WA's being a "world government."

No. Only for the nations who hold WA membership. Mind you, being pro-life is not "barbaric uncivilised ignorance."

I don't know about you, but I never said an anti-choice view was 'barbaric uncivilised ignorance' nor did I state the same on a view against marriage equality. However, those resolutions are two of the very few resolutions which are based entirely on the WA's role as the guarantor of freedoms and liberties for all nations against the tide of barbaric uncivilised ignorance.

GENERAL ASSEMBLY PROPOSAL
ID: plungaria_1439647726

Repeal "The Right to a Lawful Divorce"

A resolution to repeal previously passed legislation.

Category: Repeal

Resolution: GA#39

Proposed by: Plungaria

Description: WA General Assembly Resolution #39: The Right to a Lawful Divorce (Category: Human Rights; Strength: Significant) shall be struck out and rendered null and void.

Argument: A resolution to repeal "The Right to a Lawful Divorce".

RECOGNIZING the sanctity of marriage and the importance of the development of a child, the World Assembly hereby repeal such act and call for its revision.

Citing that the said Act is too loose in nature even though it celebrates cultural diversity. There are some points that needs adjustment.

Approvals: 2 (Saint George Islands, Turkharistan)

Status: Lacking Support (requires 72 more approvals)

Voting Ends: in 2 days 12 hours

Trying to revise in a repeal, doesn't really make an argument against the original resolution.

I don't think there is an active clause though. It does say "a resolution to repeal "The right to lawful divorce, but that is more of a description than a clause.

Surveillance Counterterroism

A resolution to restrict political freedoms in the interest of law and order.

Category: Political Stability

Strength: Mild

Proposed by: The English Socialist Party of Oceania

Description: We, as a government concerned for the safety and welfare of its citizens, feel that it is necessary at times for the government to monitor the communications of its citizens.

Monitoring communications can contribute greatly to the furtherance of peace and prosperity in the world and the safety of citizens everywhere, and it is irresponsible for a government to fail to take action when tracking down terrorists who only seek to do harm to the government and its citizens.

By taking the action of repealing Resolution #10, we take the prerogative and initiative in protecting our citizens from terrorists and criminals.

By repealing Resolution #10 we further the cause of justice.

Repeal attempt in a resolution, not a repeal

--------

Endangered Hunting Restriction

A resolution to increase the quality of the world's environment, at the expense of industry.

Category: Environmental

Industry Affected: All Businesses

Proposed by: Vinternia

Description: KNOWING that many species that are endangered are being hunted for trophy/sport

CONCERNED that said hunting is driving certain species to extinction

UNDERSTANDING that some species are protected by their local governments from hunting

ALSO UNDERSTANDING that people can get permits to hunt said endangered animals from governments protecting them

ARGUING that these restriction laws are not enforced enough, and/or easily broken

HEREBY enacts the Endangered Hunting Restriction Act (EHRA).

I. This resolution will enact universal hunting restriction for all species labeled as endangered. All endangered species under EHRA cannot be killed for sport or trophy. Any violations will result in revoking of hunting license and detainment in home country for breaking international law.

II. Those wanting to hunt any endangered species must get a permit from the World Assembly. This permit would detail which animal the applicant wishes to hunt, and how many animals said applicant may kill. It also gives the applicant a certain time frame in which they can hunt for the animal they wish to kill. They also must allow their luggage to be checked and must log all travels and incidents that happened during the hunt. This is to assure they have not violated the permit, or sold their game for money.

III. If the applicant is approved, they will be granted the freedom to hunt their target animal. They may also ask for a guide to help them hunt, if they wish for one. If the hunter is to succesfully kill their target animal, they must bring its body as proof of the kill. It will then be taxadermied and will be transported with the hunter to wherever they wish to go with it.
oh boy. It's the "Cecil the Lion" Law. Also looks to contradict #66 Endangered Species Protection Act

OOC: I oppose "Legalize LGBTQ Marriage" because it does not guarantee marriage equality, but simply mandates that all WA nations recognize homosexual marriage, even if they do not recognize heterosexual marriage.

If you claim to be religious but don’t control your tongue, you are fooling yourself, and your religion is worthless. Pure and genuine religion in the sight of God the Father means caring for orphans and widows in their distress and refusing to let the world corrupt you. | Not everyone who calls out to me, ‘Lord! Lord!’ will enter the Kingdom of Heaven. Only those who actually do the will of my Father in heaven will enter. On judgment day many will say to me, ‘Lord! Lord! We prophesied in your name and cast out demons in your name and performed many miracles in your name.’ But I will reply, ‘I never knew you. Get away from me, you who break God’s laws.’

The boilerplate isn't. However, it's structured backwards and appears to have crammed the repeals aspect into the first line. I had to reread it to make sure I didn't miss it.

Restrictions on Abortion

A resolution to improve worldwide human and civil rights.

Category: Human Rights

Strength: Strong

Proposed by: Greater Gibraltar

Description: Recognizing the personhood of a unborn child,

Realizing that most abortions happen purely electively

Appalled at the slaughter of innocent children

Seeking to Protect the Rights of All Humans

This council hereby requires:

-abortion be banned after the first trimester

- that unless there is a severe physical threat of death to the mother, abortion be illegal

In order to receive an abortion for health reasons, it must be

a. proven that the health risk to the mother is indeed "severe" in that it may cause serious disease or death

b. That all options other than abortion be exhausted before an abortion is attempted

c. that support and counseling services be set up to encourage alternatives

d. that it be proven in a court of law that
- all options have been exhausted and have not worked
- and that the abortion poses a significant health threat to the mother
- that abortion is indeed the only option

Nations may put on more abortion restrictions at there own discretion and nations may allow an exception for cases of rape and incest.

These standards are a baseline.

Another fun filled entry in that awesome game, CONTRADICTION!, fun for the whole family!

Very well ambassador.

Deeply concerned that the new cat food may have had a rather detrimental effect on said cat and

appalled that no-one has changed the litter tray in over a week, this august assembly demands that someone changes that bloody tray.
As an editor I seam to spend an awful lot of thyme going threw issues and checking that they're no oblivious errars. Its a tough job but someone's got too do it!

Why would they have consulted you, specifically? Also, over half the proposals submitted don't make it to the forum. It's, regrettably, not a new occurrence.

The author and Stellonia are in the same region, which also happens to be mine. Also, we all know each other pretty well. Maybe Stellonia still shouldn't have expected the author to seek out him specifically, but they aren't strangers to each other.

GENERAL ASSEMBLY PROPOSAL
ID: united_europe_and_north_america_1439820418

Compulsory Vaccine Act

A resolution to modify universal standards of healthcare.

Category: Health

Area of Effect: Healthcare

Proposed by: United Europe And North America

Description: This act defines the following as:
a. Vaccine(s) = a substance used to provide immunity against a disease(s).
b. Vaccination(s) = a medical administration of a vaccine.
c. Immunity = the ability of an organism to resist against a disease or toxin by the means of deploying antibodies/white blood cells.
d. Anti-vaxxer(s) = a person who is opposed to vaccinations.

NOTING that anti-vaxxers and certain religious individuals refuse to be vaccinated according to their own choice.

ALSO NOTING that vaccinations are not always 100% percent effective.

FURTHER NOTING that side-effects, such as autism, have been associated with vaccinations, but not medically/scientifically proven.

STRESSING, however, that vaccinations provide immunity against the following diseases:
1. Diphtheria
2. Haemophilus Influenzae Type B
3. Hepatitis A
4. Hepatitis B
5. Human Papillomavirus (HPV)
6. Influenza
7. Measles
8. Meningococcal
9. Mumps
10. Pertussis
11. Pneumococcal
12. Polio
13. Rotavirus
14. Rubella
15. Tetanus
16. Varicella

BELIEVING that vaccines are essential and provide more good than bad.

CONCERNED that anti-vaxxers and certain religious individuals could spread these diseases and cause outbreaks among non-vaccinated communities/persons (other anti-vaxxers, cases where the vaccine did not work, otherwise see article 3) if not treated.

HEREBY mandates the following:

1) If possible, nations must mass-produce and distribute vaccines, and train doctors to administer these vaccines.

2) Every person must be vaccinated, regardless of their sex, race, religion, mental/general health, political views, or any other defining characteristic.

3) Article 2 may only be violated if the person's body is medically intolerant to the vaccine.

4) It is illegal to go into a public area without a vaccination or plans to have a vaccination (unless they are subject to article 3). Someone who violates this law can be arrested, given jail time, and fined, but can reduce their sentence to just a fine by agreeing to be vaccinated.

Approvals: 0

Status: Lacking Support (requires 74 more approvals)

Voting Ends: in 2 days 21 hours

As written, it would put people (including children and toddlers) who don't have tetanus or flu shots in jail. That's quite silly.
