Specifying illegalities is what we're supposed to do so others can learn. I read this one as referring to game stats, so illegal for metagaming. Otherwise "gibberish with a side dish of category fail".

GENERAL ASSEMBLY PROPOSAL
ID: carcharodontidae_1410650442

Cloning A Jurassic Park
A resolution to increase the quality of the world's environment, at the expense of industry.

Category: Environmental

Industry Affected: All Businesses

Proposed by: Carcharodontidae

Description: With cloning becoming a wide spread technology, shouldn't we be able to harness that for entertainment and research purposes?

With proper security and endorsement a prehistoric park could be great for all of the nations economies. Thus said this technology could also save many almost extinct species like the Condor.

Should this be approved?

Approvals: 2 (Nordenwald, Exaequatio)

Status: Lacking Support (requires 63 more approvals)

Voting Ends: in 3 days 4 hours

No operating clause, blog post, asking a question as though this is a casual conversation and not actually advocating for any specific position, though I am very fond of the prospect of seeing a mammoth in my lifetime. :)

Gun Control Act of 2014

A resolution to tighten or relax gun control laws.

Category: Gun Control

Decision: Tighten

Proposed by: Cool Spring

Description: Yes, I may be new to this game but I know that we need tighter gun laws. I'm not calling for the complete removal of guns but at least, for God's sake, limit the amount of guns. See, if you limit the amount of guns, or just have tighter checks on people who buy these weapons, then crazy people wont get them. Do you really want to have a Columbine, Sandy Hook, Aura or VT shooting again? I know that some people would reply "It could be used for self-defense" and I totally support that, don't get me wrong, I just want tighter gun laws and tighter checks.

Blog. RL References. Written from 1st person perspective.
Everything you know about me is wrong. Or a rumor. Something like that.

I have an old memory of a movie duel between Laurel and Hardy, where Stan (the skinny one) draws parallel chalk lines down Ollie's fat front and states "to be fair, anything outside the lines doesn't count". This makes about as much sense.

Robert Fisk wrote a memorable piece about the misuse of the word "troop" to refer to individual soldiers. I had a section from it pinned on my wall in my heady student days (during which I read Robert Fisk and decided I was a radical for about half an hour). Suffice it to say that proposal contains a fairly giant loophole: for those who use "troop" to refer not to an individual soldier but to a whole military unit that could vary significantly in size, the number becomes even more meaningless.

GENERAL ASSEMBLY PROPOSAL
ID: dilanica_1410751630
Gun Right Protection

A resolution to tighten or relax gun control laws.

Category: Gun Control

Decision: Relax

Proposed by: Dilanica

Description: SEEKING to protect the natural right of a person to protect themselves and their nation.

RECOGNIZING that gun control laws prevent an able minded citizen from defending themselves and their countries from threats.

PROPOSING that nations make legal the purchase of Semi-Automatic firearms and Handguns to those able to pass a background check and a mental health examination.

The ownership of firearms are essential in this day and age for an individual to protect themselves. A nation restricting or banning an able individual from owning firearms is impeding on that persons right to defend themselves. Semi-Automatic firearms and Handguns allow for a citizen to defend themselves and their country properly from threats.

CLARIFIES it is the individual right of a nation to require a permit be acquired before the purchase of a firearm

Approvals: 6 (Lucratoria, Alruniea, Isolaria, Republic of South Carolina, Aitheria, Carcharodontidae)

Status: Lacking Support (requires 59 more approvals)

Voting Ends: in 2 days 15 hours

Aside from not being sure it does anything, since proposing nations make legal isn't mandating such, is it really a 'relaxation' of gun laws if you are requiring background checks and mental health examinations?

Apparently "Proposing" is an active clause now, as it has been reported, but they don't seem to thnk it needs to be taken down. I am half tempted to telegram this into queue, and convince Def to pull hers so an illegal proposal can hit the floor running. Watching the mods explain their way out of that one would be humorous to watch....

Edit: And as I was typing that up, it was pulled from the floor, as if one cue.

Another one for Chester's tally. Still a fair way to go to beat NAPA repeals, though.

EDIT: Er, giving a friendly wave to the topic: legislating in a repeal, too.
