Thanks, sorted. C&Ping does have its failings.

Resolution illegal?

Postby Dark Fire » Mon Sep 15, 2014 10:58 am

There were some remarks about this proposal being potentially illegal for duplication/contradiction of GAR#2. Could someone tell me if it is?

Keep seeking the advice of experienced players within your thread before asking for a Secretariat opinion.

my proposal got deleted for no reason

Postby Baltic-Balkan Union » Tue Oct 14, 2014 10:01 am

the game seems to deleted my proposal because it is invalid? but it was normal and like other ones it had the right strength too it said to disarm all nuclear weapons above 10mt (and bioweapons with toxicity rating of 4=8,000 deaths per 1 kilogram) also gas weapons (the proposal said gas arms)
with the same rating as bioweapon

Sounds like it Duplicated the Bioweapon Convention and Nuclear Arms Possession Act, making it illegal.

As noted, it's probable that your proposal conflicted with previous passed resolutions such as the Nuclear Arms Possession Act, Biological Warfare Convention, and Chemical Weapons Accord. Without seeing the text of your proposal, it's impossible to say if it violated any other proposal rules such as format and category.

This isn't a question about a proposal but I am looking for an answer, so I hope this is appropriate.

I'm aware there used to be (a loooong time ago) at least two 'organizations' advocating for NatSov. NSwiki.net is gone and I can't find references to it on .org, and I'm having problems finding references to them in the forums (we use the term NatSov and national sovereignty way to often to search through the posts, and no OPs address them on this forum, so I guess they go back to old days.

I'm aware several regions, like Gatesville, have taken up the name of NatSov, but I'm trying to remember the non-region ones. My mind is blank and cannot recall what it used to know. Can an old person help me? :P

The main one was the National Sovereignty Organization (NSwiki).

As for what the second one was: well, there was an organization that preceded the NSO but I don't know that there's any archive of them, they certainly didn't accomplish much. There was the ACCEL: though not exclusively a national sovereigntist organization, they did draft a few proposals. Their forums are gone now too. There was the ill-fated Economic Sovereignty Coalition which didn't really accomplish anything. There was UN DEFCON, which opposed weapons bans but wasn't exclusively sovereigntist or anything.

But, that's using a definition of national sovereignty that's quite different from what it means now.

THANK YOU. I don't know why I couldn't find that article.

The other one I was trying to think of was NSO's predecessor, the NSC. But wow, ACCEL, that's something I haven't thought about in a while either.

Except for bans on bio-weapons, IIRC: Wasn't a ban on those actually drafted in the DEFCON forum?

Yes, although the justification was that the communicability of biological pathogens made them an international problem that rendered national sovereignty concerns moot.

I was generalising, and Topid was evidently talking about the NSC in any case.

There was actually a third one, circa 2011, run by Iron Felix and didn't really have a formal name but was nicknamed "NSO II."

So, I asked here about getting an opinion on my proposal. It's since dropped off the page a couple of times with no response, so I just wanted to check whether it was at least under review?

I wouldn't hold your breath... Best advice is to pester the shit out of them with GHR's. Eventually they will respond.

We strongly advise against this.

Dark Star, if you find your query is forgotten, a reminder through the Mod forums or a GHR, depending where your original question was, is welcome. If it's seen by a non-WA mod, they will pass it on to those versed in the WA proposal rules. Patience is virtue. As for the link, I've noted it and will confer with the others for an answer.

Eyup. At least that was the forum name. We never got around to officially branding ourselves -- and activity seemed to peter off after some months anyway, so the issue became moot.

Ultimately, they take their cues from the top, and [violet]'s vicious invective towards WA players made it pretty clear what she really thinks about this part of the game.

Anyway, nothing that can be done about that from us. So moving on:

Does this affect the "International Aid" subcategory for Health proposals? Will other changes have any consequences for the WA?
