Repeal "Reducing Statelessness"
A resolution to repeal previously passed legislation.

Category: Repeal
Resolution: GA#386
Proposed by: Neo Polisophos

Description: WA General Assembly Resolution #386: Reducing Statelessness (Category: Human Rights; Strength: Mild) shall be struck out and rendered null and void.

Argument: Description: Aware that many tyrannical governments are morally in debt with the basic human rights conceived by a large part of society, such as the rights to life, education, healthcare and security,
However shocked at how badly described such rights are in the resolution "Reducing Statelessness", opening room for many diverging views of what these "societally guaranteed political rights" are,
Understanding that each country has its laws, and that the intervention from a dubious World Assembly statement can also leave room for misinterpretation of what a due process of law is in each specific case of nationality revocation,
Disappointed at how Article 1 of "Reducing Statelessness" attempts to intervene on the sovereignity of nations, stopping said nations from denying the nationality of each specific case of possible citizens who could have their nationality revoked,
Disagreeing with Article 3 of "Reducing Statelessness", which defines that members of the World Assembly should recognize the passports of each other's citizens, seeing as that would also interfere in the sovereignity of nations,
Hereby repeals "Reducing Statelessness" for being too broad in its definitions and for attacking the right to individuality and sovereignity that each country's government should be subject to.

Approvals: 7 (Aisciai, Grand Enclave, Slartnus, Januostium, Oldenfranck, 1-502nd Airborne Inf, Diamonpopulous)
Status: Lacking Support (requires 86 more approvals)
Voting Ends: in 2 days 15 hours

Illegal for 'NatSov-only' arguments.

We have no goal to face the interests of each country or region, but rather to alert the dangers that entails the lack of international safety laws.

Peremos propose the discussion or renewal of the dialogue on practical laws of transport, while respecting the interests of nations, however we want to present some of the safe procedures with respect.

No operative clause? In my opinion the language (with its use of non-English terms) isn't clear enough to tell...

Catgeory: Repeal
Resolution: GA#386
Proposed by: Gneissenau

Description: WA General Assembly Resolution #386: Reducing Statelessness (Category: Human Rights; Strength: Mild) shall be struck out and rendered null and void.

Argument: We are only allowing people born in the state of Gneissenau nationality as we believe that they will not contribute at the same level as people of a foreign nation.

Repeal "Reducing Statelessness"
A resolution to repeal previously passed legislation.

Category: Repeal
Resolution: GA#386
Proposed by: Murd scane

Description: WA General Assembly Resolution #386: Reducing Statelessness (Category: Human Rights; Strength: Mild) shall be struck out and rendered null and void.

Argument: The word nationality (membership in a nation) is often, although not always, used
synonymously with citizenship (member of a state). They are categories states use to
define membership. They also provide a legal connection between an individual and
a state, serving as a basis for certain rights, including the state’s right to grant
diplomatic protection and representation on the international level. A stateless person
is someone who, under national laws, does not have the legal bond of nationality with
any state. Where possible, naturalization, the process by which non-nationals receive
citizenship, is the key to reducing the problem of statelessness. It enables people to
secure employment, utilize public services including access to education and health
services, participate in the political process, move about freely, avoid labor
exploitation, and have access to the judicial system
Rights of the Child states that "national Governments must register children immediately after birth, children have the right
From birth to acquire a nationality. "And it requires governments to protect itself by
Right as children mature and that the government should put its international obligations
To protect the child's right to obtain citizenship before other national considerations. The
Also noteworthy that the national government and the duty to grant a child born in the for
Citizenship land if it is not recognized as a citizen of the child by any other country

Approvals: 0
Status: Lacking Support (requires 93 more approvals)
Voting Ends: in 3 days 3 hours

What it's actually arguing isn't entirely clear, but I think that it's trying to say 'National Sovereignty'.

Sexual Freedom Act

A resolution to improve worldwide human and civil rights.

Category: Human Rights

Strength: Significant

Proposed by: Excellent Anarchy

Proposing that the World Assembly holds basic guidelines towards countries with abusive sexual conduct laws that either harm children or consentful people.

In no case shall any country in the World Assembly pass a law restricting sexual activity to persons in regards to age if said persons are over eighteen years of age, but are encouraged to set lower if desired or applicable.

In no case shall any country in the World Assembly pass a law restricting sexual activity to any persons over the age of majority in the particular region. This includes methodology of the sexual acts, which are to be decided by the People, not by the law, and sexual methodology shall not be a factor in terms of the age, nor may gender be a factor in terms of the age.

In no case, as long as this resolution is in effect, shall any country in the World Assembly allow sexual activity with children whom do not yet have sexually enabled bodies.

In no case shall any country in the World Assembly legalise rape, or forced/nonconsensual sexual activity, and anyone who victimises such a person in this sense should be held to a reasonable punishment under applicable law.

In no case shall any country in the World Assembly restrict sexual activity on account of sex, gender, sexual orientation or identity, political status, religion, opinions, and previous sexual activity.

World Assembly is authorised to amend this resolution, and can take action against countries who don't abide by the Sexual Freedom Act.

This duplicates existing legislation. Also, the World Assembly is definitely not authorised to amend this resolution. That said, it's a pretty well-written proposal.

It certainly doesn't tell anyone to do anything. It simply states that something 'is' the case.

No victim, no crime
A resolution to improve worldwide human and civil rights.

Category: Human Rights
Strength: Mild
Proposed by: Julian Republic

Description: Across the world, people are arrested, flogged, even executed for victimless crimes such as drug use, public nudity, or even frowning. Any government that punishes it's people for doing what they want with their own bodies is tyrannical. Punishment should be to prevent people from hurting other people, but what a person does to himself/herself/xerself should not be subject to punishment. The Julian Republic would like the international community to scowl at every nation that punishes victimless crimes until they stop.

Approvals: 0

Status: Lacking Support (requires 96 more approvals)

Voting Ends: in 3 days 5 hours

Branding and lack of operative clause.

Not to mention it's yet another bloggy submission. What's with all the bloggy proposals these days? And on a separate note, what is this proposal even accomplish if what it tries to pass as an operative clause is all it does? Scowling at another nation does nothing.

No operative clause.

The Right To Cure Themselves
A resolution to increase democratic freedoms.

Category: Furtherment of Democracy
Strength: Mild
Proposed by: SchoolHouse Rock

Description: After this year's zombie apocalypse, Our nation couldn't help how bothered we were with one of the tactics of dealing with zombies...

...A nation can cure other nation's zombies, but not their own.

While I understand that this is because of region cooperation, it can become a huge crutch. Particularly, it becomes a crutch in cases of small regions, or regions where other nations are not responding.

It would be like if a nation had a disease, but instead gave the medicine to nation next to it.

A nation should have the right to help their own citizens in times such as these.

With this, it should be allowed for a nation to launch cure missiles or shoot weapons at their own citizens in the upcoming zombie apocalypses.

Status: Lacking Support (requires 93 more approvals)

Not going to fight you on either of these as it's not worth it, but I sort of disagree on both.
Bears Armed Mission wrote:Arguably 'no operative clause', and medical use of marijuana is already covered by existing legislation.

It says "Legalize marijuana": that can reasonably be interpreted as an imperative. And given it goes substantially beyond the Essential Medication Act (which arguably doesn't even apply to marijuana), it's dependent on what sense of the duplication rules (some overlap permitted, or not) is applied.
Bears Armed Mission wrote:Illegal for RL references ("third world"/"second world"/"first world") and for Game Mechanics (in trying to set an exact spending percentage).

"First world" and such can reasonably be interpreted in an NS context. The term may have originated in the Cold War but it's still used today long after and generally just means "rich nations". The only reason "third world" isn't used much on NS is no one wants to roleplay nations that can't afford 17 million supersized aircraft carriers. As for game mechanics, it defines the spending in terms of GDP, rather than percentage of government spending. I know the chart on our nation says GDP, but that can't be what it's really measuring - it would seem more like GNP if anything. More to the point, it simply says "the standard": to me, that's not necessary an absolute requirement.

I did say "arguably": If in a position to delete proposals from the list myself I'd have waited for at least a second opinion on that point.
" And given it goes substantially beyond the Essential Medication Act (which arguably doesn't even apply to marijuana), it's dependent on what sense of the duplication rules (some overlap permitted, or not) is applied.
Why wouldn't the Essential Medication Act apply to medical marijuana?

And "second world"?
I think that this is a point on which we'll have to disagree... and there is precedent for the Mods regarding those terms as RL references.

Maybe.
So it fails on 'format', for unclear wording?

Bears Armed wrote:Why wouldn't the Essential Medication Act apply to medical marijuana?

Because it's not "necessary" for "management and/or treatment" of medical conditions. It might be "beneficial", but there are few real world medical conditions for which there is demonstrable evidence that medical marijuana is the only possible treatment. Of course this is NS and I'm sure many nations RP differently.
Bears Armed wrote:I think that this is a point on which we'll have to disagree... and there is precedent for the Mods regarding those terms as RL references.

I think the reason you have that funny coloured text is because there's quite a lot of precedent from the mods that's complete crap - but, sure, "second world" is harder to justify because it's more obviously linked to Cold War blocs.
Bears Armed wrote:So it fails on 'format', for unclear wording?

If I were in your position - I wouldn't remove the proposal on those grounds. But the format rule has historically been used incredibly broadly, so you probably have precedent on your side here too.

I happen to agree with Gruenberg on Legalize Marijuana -- except, it's illegal anyway, as "worldwide" attempts to legislate on non-WA nations.
