Repeal "Preventing Multiple Trials"

A resolution to repeal previously passed legislation.

Category: Repeal

Resolution: GA#198

Proposed by: Recovia

Description: WA General Assembly Resolution #198: Preventing Multiple Trials (Category: Human Rights; Strength: Significant) shall be struck out and rendered null and void.

Argument: Argument: Understanding that this resolution means only to help improve and protect the nations of the World Assembly,
Realizing that this law could be exploited and abused by corrupt nations,
Knowing that some people are wrongly accused after only one trial,
Feeling that multiple trials must be allowed due to false accusations and/or new breakthroughs in cases,
Noting that some points of the law can work and should be implemented,
The World Assembly hereby repeals General Assembly Resolution #198 Preventing Multiple Trials.

Honest mistake, because of "new breakthroughs in cases". GAR#198 has an exception for that.

Ban Gambling

A resolution to legalize or outlaw gambling.

Category: Gambling

Legalize/Outlaw: Outlaw

Proposed by: Morkevia

Description: Gambling, you lose a lot by it. Some people lose their own house just to gamble. Gambling is very addictive and needs to be outlawed!!!

You may have mixed feelings about gambling. Perhaps you recognize yourself in statements on both sides of this list:
Rewards

You might gamble because:

You love the thrill of playing.
You know a big payout could solve all my problems.
Gambling is your only shot at becoming a millionaire.

You might want help because:

Your partner is threatening to leave me if I don't stop.
You and your partner fight all the time about my gambling.
Your tired of sneaking around, lying and hiding my losses.
Your reputation has been hurt.
Creditors are hassling you. You're looking at bankruptcy.
Gambling is all you might ever think about. It has taken over your life.
You've stopped caring about things that should be important to me.
You've borrowed money from so many people. You feel ashamed to face them.
You're afraid You'll lose my job because You're always so distracted.
You're health is suffering.
You don't even enjoy gambling most of the time.
You feel like such a loser. Sometimes I hate myself so much I want to end it all.
After a while, you will feel suicidal.

And these are the reasons that gambling should be outlawed.

Blog

Outlaw Euthanasia

A resolution to restrict civil freedoms in the interest of moral decency.

Category: Moral Decency

Strength: Strong

Proposed by: Eretz Shel HaMooshlam

Description: Outlaw/abolish euthanasia (AKA: assisted suicide). If your nation is against suicide why would you allow euthanasia. For example; instead of using euthanasia for a very sick person and just simply end their life, why not just abolish euthanasia and let this encourage us to work harder on a cure. G-d works so hard to create us and it is a shame that people want to just throw out G-d's hard work.

Let's abolish euthanasia and work harder on cures!

Blog, and let's keep religion out of it please.

Right to Refuse Refugees

A resolution to improve world security by boosting police and military budgets.

Category: International Security

Strength: Significant

Proposed by: The Great Texan Kingdom

Description: Understanding that this is not a proposal against refugees, but for the right to reject asylum seekers if necessary.

Defining Refugee as someone who is seeking refuge.

Reminding that not all refugees are truly "refugees" and can be harmful to a nation.

Noting that this has happened many times, such as the attacks in Germany, France, Belgium, etc.

Demanding that if a nation decides that a refugee can be harmful to the the people of that nation, then the government should be granted the right to refuse refuge for that person.

Arguing that if a nation was refused the right to refuse refugees, that nation loses the very meaning of sovereignty, be at risk of terrorist attacks, and possibly be forced into a long spiral of problems.

Further Noting that if a nation were allowed to refuse potentially harmful refugees, the stability and security of a country would be kept with minimal sacrifice.

Some times with 'in jest' comments, one cannot positively determine tone from words alone. :) We have to consider how others may perceive it. While I personally had no qualms with your comment, I had to view it through the yes of a neutral third party.

The "and recreational" part eliminates the duplication. Nevertheless, it is a nebulous blog post, and is therefore illegal on those grounds.

WTF?!?!

Looks like a "terrorism is bad, mmkay?" proposal.

The category is not right. It mentions the word "gun" but doesn't have anything to do with gun control. It can also be removed under the 'format' rules. It looks like English but doesn't make sense.

GENERAL ASSEMBLY PROPOSAL
ID: boulderco_1472751707
Importation Tax on MMJ

A resolution to ban, legalize, or encourage recreational drugs.

Category: Recreational Drug Use

Decision: Legalize

Proposed by: Boulderco

Description: Legalizing high grade Medical Marijuana and opening boarders in order to receive the most effective medicine for a nations populations.

There would be a flat importation tax of 15%.

5% minimum of the tax revenue created will go toward mental health care for addicts.

10% minimum of the tax revenue will go to schools.

The remaining 85% is up to the discretion of the nation.

Approvals: 0

Status: Lacking Support (requires 90 more approvals)

Voting Ends: in 3 days 9 hours

I see two issues - domestic taxation and legalization of medicinal cannabis. Both have been previously covered by resolutions. GAR#124 already handled the issue of legalized medicinal marijuana (though it does refer to it as MED; it's inferred from the text that it does legalize medical marijuana.). Import tax is a form of domestic tax, it's not unreasonable to see this as a violation of 8 of GAR#17.

GAR#124 already handled the issue of legalized medicinal marijuana (though it does refer to it as MED; it's inferred from the text that it does legalize medical marijuana.). Import tax is a form of domestic tax, it's not unreasonable to see this as a violation of 8 of GAR#17.

Actually past precedent, on the basis of rulings for several proposals, is that taxes on international trade don't count as 'domestic' taxation and that therefore proposals legally can affect this.

And if you do count taxes on international trade as "domestic reform", wouldn't that mean that GA R#17 completely blocks the 'Protective Tariffs' area-of-effect for 'Advancement of Industry' proposals?
